Good teacher. He's not boring like some math teachers.
he was good - helpful to the students who he KNEW tried hard, didn't let one student hog the whole lecture, etc - was SUPER available to help outside of class, and was honest in that it was his first time teaching this class, I appreciated that
He always explained things well, and was there if you had any questions.
Very clear and interesting lectures. Was available even during the summer session. Recommended.
I had Prof. Rosik for more than one math class and he was good in all of them. Made math an interesting subject, explained things very logically and made sure everyone understood the concept. Very helpful in and out of class, always willing to talk during office hours. Good sense of humor, very caring and intelligent man.
I had Rosik for my multivariable calculus, linear algebra, and differential equations classes. I enjoyed it a lot. Lectures are clear, tests and grading methods are fair. Greg has a good sense of humor too, though he is a GB Packer's fan =)
Great professor. Good sense of humor.
Rosik is probably the best math teacher that I've had, though admittedly I don't really care much for math. Anyway, he teaches the material with a lot of clarity, and though his tests can be tough, he is fair. He also has a great sense of humor. I would definitely recommend him.
I thought he was pretty tough with grading. Another thing that I did not like is that he gives a lot of POP quizzes. Overall, not my favorite teacher.
I took him for summer term College Algebra I. At the midterm, half of the class dropped. I lost five pounds because I had to study so much for this class because he throws in tricky questions on the exams. I have a higher than average GPA and was in tears at the final, and only received a 'B' after all of my strenuous studying. Not recommmended.
makes you do LOTS of h/w every day for only 10% of your grade! but at the same time, if you don't do it, you won't understand the material. 3/4 into semester, doesn't count h/w anymore and leaves it up to you, which is nice. TESTS ARE HARD! 6 huge questions on each test. fail on questions, your grade drops 16%. final grade: 10%hw 70%tests 20%projec
I took this guy for the summer 2008 because I had no choice. This teacher is horrible, he talks way too fast, and does not cover everything when its time for homework. Totally sucks not recommended.
Outstanding teacher. He may be quite difficult to deal with for grading system since he has strict requirements, but he is actually reasonable. He is generally crystal-clear, but if you don't understand him, shoot your hand up and ASK! He loves to hear people ask questions if they get stuck. His tests are somewhat difficult, but very reasonable.
He is great teacher, but you have to go to class, do the homework, and study for his tests. Hard class, but he is very helpful.
He is a really good teacher, but he is never around after 3:00. Fortunately the instructors who teach at night are very friendly and helpfull.
This class is not easy. The teacher is ok. Took it during the summer semester, but could of done better if I took it during a regular semester. I give him a B average on teaching.
excellent instructor
He doesnt teach you, he does all the work for you on the board in class, and does online homework which is due once every night, besides that his tests are hard, he never gives you anything to practice with. He flat out sucks.
Greatest math teacher ever (if there ever was one) makes math interseting and makes it apart of your daily life. Test are average difficulty when it comes to math, but nothing you have not learned from him. Go to class and do required homework and you will do fine.
He is pretty lazy, he seems unhappy with being asked questions (before or after class). The majority of the work (quizzes and homework) is with an online program that is very picky and hard to work with. This work is also due almost every night. I would never recommend or take another class with him again. Avoid!!!
pretty hard working but also very difficult. won't understand half the things he says in class. oh, and when you take tests he does average of the class and goes on for about 15mins. mostly about how if you got below 70, you should get out of the class 'cause you're wasting his and your time. his grading system is unreasonable and plain ridiculous.
Very Very bad teacher. does not help you out in class at all. seems like he does not like when you ask questions in class. his tests do not correspond with what is in the book. the mymathlab homework is useless too. if he can correct tests and in-class quizzes then he should be able to correct homework. very lazy.... dont take him.
He is very good at teaching concepts. He uses MyMathLab for homework; it is picky on the answers and overall can be a pain, but if you are stuck it shows you how to do the problem. Study the quiz's, he uses them for tests!!
Great Teacher! Cared about his students!
This is one of the few teachers I would warn against. The online program is very picky and he doesn't make time to talk with students after class or in the office to help clear things up. After going to class everyday, and doing every assignment I barely passed with a C. You have been warned
He's a very good teacher when it comes to his lectures. I also loved the MyMathLab program for homework, although I'm not sure if I'd say it's worth the extra $75 (I think? I don't rememember exactly). He's very brief and unhelpful in e-mails, but in person he seems better. Just show up and take notes and you'll do well.
I liked Prof Rosik and took him for two classes (algebra and stats) because I got used to his teaching style. Show up, take notes, do the homework, and study for tests. He is a fair grader if you show that you are trying hard and committed! I believe those that do not like him are lazy!
From the rest of the reviews, this teacher seems bipolar in his teaching methods. I guess I'll add to that by saying: He isn't helpful. His teaching style can leave students fending for themselves, and little to no help when he's asked questions. I won't be taking him again. (Even if that means not taking a math course.)
My biggest problem with him is that his test questions were a lot more difficult than the homework and he would take 50% or more off of the question if you got the wrong answer. If you took advanced math courses in high school, you will probably be ok though. Also, Mymathlab sucks. He was usually helpful if you asked him questions.
This class was tough. Sure you can get 100% in all your homework but the quizzes are, many times, quite different from what the homework has shown. He also teaches differently from how MML instructs so that was a big turnoff. Overall though, great teacher but just too ridiculous quizzes at times.
I took stats with professor Rosik during the summer of 2011. He did a great job keeping the class involved. Make sure you understand the home work and in class exercises they are similar to the exams. Overall I highly recommend professor Rosik!
I very much enjoyed having him as a professor. He clearly explained all the concepts, and he was a pretty easy grader. On our tests, he would give us bonus points for no reason, and he gave us grades based on how well he thought we knew the material, not how many points we got. The majority of the homework was online, and book use was optional.
Awesome, awesome, awesome. Just come too class, listen, take good notes and you are good to go for an "A." If you want to know Math, he is one of the few instructors that will show you the way.
Good professor. I took it during summer semester so it was fast paced, but he made it simple to learn. With no prior calculus knowledge, it was easy to pick up with his teaching. He used a free textbook which was plus! Also, he's very generous in his grading. He rewards a lot for effort; he offers a lot of extra credit points for doing homework.
Fast-paced and not at all lenient. You must know the week's material perfectly in a week or you'll fail the quizzes. He offers extra credit if you do an INSANE amount of work which I can't imagine anyone with a full course load being able to complete. He also talks down to the students who aren't in advanced classes. I wouldn't take him again.
One of few math professors I've taken that I've genuinely enjoyed. Greg is very good at explaining the material in a way that makes it make sense when you first encounter it. Understands where your confusion is coming from when you ask questions. Usually a fair grader, will give you credit when it's clear that you had some idea what you were doing.
This professor is terrible. He is condescending do his students, he doesn't lecture, his quiz and test problems are far harder than any material you see in homework and his grading is extremely strict. I'm told he is nice to his very advanced students so unless you're great at math, do not bother with this guy. This semester has been miserable.
I took him for College Algebra 1 it was half online, half in class (hybrid), he's a great professor, he really knows his stuff. Always attend class, do homework on time, and make sure you ask questions. I slacked off a little first semester but pulled through the second half and got an A, don't procrastinate in homework and you should get that A.
I wouldn't be suprised if rosik wrote the good reviews himself. I dropped this class because his "partially" online class is all online. Unless you have a lot of extra time after school to do homework and you enjoy teaching yourself, i recommend not taking this class.
Class was listed as "hybrid", but all coursework was online. via mymathlab HM must be 95% to unlock quiz. Attendance was not mandatory and class was designated only for homework questions(actual class sessions are online videos). Pros: Instructor is very nice, only 2 days a week, Cons: extremely difficult coursework, expensive text not utilized.
He provides zero information for helping students review for finals. He is not easy to ask questions because he wants to talk over you and not fully listen to what you are having a hard time understanding.
Very thorough and very nice and entertaining for a math teacher. He will work with you if you have an extenuating circumstance and keep you on track. He really cares about the class.
Took MATH 1061 Fall 2013, Greg was a great professor. Honestly the best math professor I've ever had. He really knows his stuff. I slacked the first half, but then I started watching his lectures online (it was a half online class), did the homework on MyMathLab, over all, I ended up with an A.
He is smart, but has a hard time engaging with students. Class is extremely boring, but you must go if you really want to learn something. BTW don't buy the text book, i don't know why he makes you buy the book when you never used it for classes ever! it was a waste of my money. He tends to move on, and never ask students if they have any questions
I don't see how other students like him. He makes horrible comments, about how students who are not serious shouldn't be in his class. I understand this course is helpful, but telling students to f off the first day off class doesn't make them like you any better. He needs to become a more positive teacher, btw class is a BORING.
OK class. Don't buy the textbook! It was never used for this class. MyMathLab is used for homework, and quizzes online. Class I took was hybrid. All he does in class is go over questions from the homework problems, and other example problems. All his lecturesnotes are online in video format. Tests are straight forward, but can be tough at times.
Loved his online course. Has tutorial vids with every lesson and examples as well. Replies quick via email and helpful! Have another prof atm and miss his teaching so much! Very up to date on vids and grades, definitely recommend his online course!
Rosik is the head of the math department, which makes this class so challenging. He excepts too much from an entry level, online, community college statistics class. EVERY WEEK you will have 3-7 video lectures, required homework (5-25 problems), suggested homework (5-25), a quiz (1-10) and a "take home" quiz. A mid term, final, and a 20+ pg paper.
I really enjoyed his online lectures. I recommend taking him.
Dr. Rosik is really the nicest math professor compared to what I've seen in many universities. He expects his students to attend class, ask questions and do the assignments. Calculus III is certainly not the easiest math class, and you have to study and work hard for that A. His lectures are very thorough and entertaining. He's also funny.
The class in general was easy. It was easy being online and would recommend taking it online. However, he was not easy going with grading and there was a long hard statistics project.
Great professor, great at communicating and getting his message across. A lot of negative reviews probably from students that decide not to give an effort. You really get out what you put in with Rosik. Give the effort and your grade and his attitude towards you will show. But if you slack off and don't show up, don't expect lenience from him
Way too hard of a grader and does not specify where points are being taken off. Immature and obviously doesn't care too much about the success of his students. He is very snobbish and has a condescending look at his students which is very unfitting considering his attitude. His voice is very irritable and you can hear his spit in his mouth:disgusti
Greg is the head of the mathematics department at Century. There is no doubt he knows what he's talking about but his class is HARD especially if you are not a strong math student. I took his Math 1061 online and spent 10+ hours each week between lecture videos and homework. Also, beware, the final exam is worth 50% of your grade. Don't slack!
Watch the video lectures. Everything you need is there. Don't be lazy, do the work. He will help you, but you still need to do the work.
If you put in the effort, he will work with you to make sure that you really do well. If you don't care, he'll let you suffer the consequences. He gives extra credit, is clear about his grading, and is really cool. His tests count for a LOT but they cover what you expect. I'm planning on taking another one of his classes next semester.
Tough class. I havent taken stats in ten years. *Any moms/dads out there who are considering this, do it! Its possible* I have two kids under two and still passed with an A. Do the work, commit, dont slack off, and youll excel. Professor R. is fair and so so kind. I couldnt leave the final without first shaking his hand. Awesome teacher.
Never shows you how to DO the problems if you ask for help. Worst professor I have ever had, and hes the head of math at century... what a joke! DO YOUR JOB! Get ready to spend A LOT of time looking up YouTube videos to try to get through this class. NEVER TAKE HIM! SKIP HIM AT ALL COSTS
Taken both 2081 and 2082 with him online. I have to say he is by far the best online classes I have ever taken. He does an excellent drop thoroughly explaining the subject and allowing MAPLE/Calculator when appropriate. Seems like the bad reviews come from lower level math students who might be poor at math. Do the homework and you will succeed!
One of the worst teachers i have ever had. Expects you to know the class before you even take it. Please save your money and time.
You end up just teaching yourself everything. Didn't provide much help, with questions. Just pick a different math teacher.
Professor Rosik has very high standards, which manifests itself in very detailed lectures and lots of homework. If you are serious about learning math, and willing to put in the hard work, you will learn A LOT. I highly recommend him.
There is a lot of work that needs to be done. I scored pretty well on my MATH ACT and I struggled with this class. There are 3 - 4 hours of lecture videos per week, homework assignments (30+), quizzes, assessment, notes, and the exams have a 1-hour time limit. He wants you to spend 10+ hours on his class. No one has the time. DONT TAKE IT!
STRESSFUL each week. Lecture notes must be taken each week from videos that range from 16 to 30 min. At least 4 to 5 of these videos. My mathlab is used. About 4 sections of homework problems with as many as 30 questions on each section. Exams are 5 question, 25 points each, only an hour long. If you're not good at math, avoid. Miserable.
30 minute lectures and there will be 4 or 5 of them(Which are terribly explained). You will scan in your notes for grading. Mymathlab homework given along with all this, consisting of about 30-40 questions then a quiz. These are every week. Exams are 1 hour long and there is not enough time. The most unaccommodating online class I have ever seen.
Amazing! This professor is very clear about his expectations. He tries to reply to emails fast. You know that he really wants you to pass by the way he teaches his lecture videos and by the crazy amount of extra credit he offers. You just have to try to do all your work well and submit in time. Do this and theres no doubt that you will get A/B.
Worst online class I have taken. Lecture is super long videos are 30 minutes on average. There are about 6 per week. If you have him late start its awful. Expects you do put in 20 or more hours a week on point less homework. I found his lecture to be useless. I just watched Kahn academy and I did fine on his tests. Its the homework that gets you.
the hardest class I ever took, almost didn't make it. The exams are an hour long & I never completed all the problems. The lectures are VERY long each week, the final is 2 hours, very hard. I never once had confidence doing the problems because he very rarely gives you nice numbers as an answer so your always questioning if you right. Dont take him
Was stressed the entire semester. The lectures are very long, homework is long, too much work for so little points. You have to scan lecture notes that you take every Friday. Exams are rough. Final was in class, 2 hours. If you're not good at math like me, skip it. I feel like this class was much harder than it should have been. Horrible semester
I took the online Statistics class, and it wasn't that bad! Work hard and try to complete all your work, and you'll get a good grade. Lectures are long & detailed, but they really helped me to understand the concepts extremely well! He gives good grades, but many ppl don't seem to be working for it. The bad reviews are probably from bad students.
I took this class online over the summer. It was a lot of work, I spent about 15 hours on this class per week doing homework and watching lectures/taking notes. It was a heavy workload but it was not hard. We never got into content that was actually difficult to understand, its a very basic math class. If you put in the work you'll do well.
He is really just a bad teacher. If you can take math from another professor.
Prof. Rosik, math 1030 fall semester 2020, this prof is anal! he requires so much out of the student, from showing every detail of your work, making sure you participate in the discussions, taking notes for most/all the videos/books, assignments & lectures that is being done. Good feedback though & explains things well, just tough on grading & quiz
I was supprised to see alot of the bad reviews. This is the first math class I have EVER enjoyed. His lectures average to about an hour and a half a week and you take a quiz about every other week. He gives great written feedback. He is a fair grader-you get what you put into it. Extra credit is a plus also!
I took Linear Algebra & Differential Equations with Professor Rosik and I would say that he definitely knows his stuff. He does a great job in his lectures explaining the course material and is very good at responding to questions about confusing topics. If you don't do the homework, you won't do well, but that's how it generally goes for math.
He was a very good teacher and taught differential equations really well. Even though they were all recordings from previous years, he edited them to correct his mistakes and told the class how to pass his quizzes.
This guy is ridiculous. Expects WAY too much out of students over an online course. Isn't flexible with students when life problems come up even when there's a death in the family. Take a different professor and avoid him at all costs.
Less than a week before the final paper is due, he removed me from the class with no email or communication about it at all. I did his entire class to be removed and not get credit for it with no explanation. The communication this whole semester was poor.
Lecture heavy class. Extremely vague with final project requirements, and is a bit strict with grading. Overall, you can get a good grade by participating, but the professor himself is a bit unwelcoming.
Professor Rosik was a very fast grader and very understanding of his students. He would assign extra credit often and he got back to my emails fast! I can admit his class is hard, but so is the course. Statistics is not an easy course, and with the lectures he provided it helped a lot. DONT SLACK! You would have to make sure you are very punctual!
AVOID AT ALL COST. Professor was really professional, but the language he used wasnt at all. The feedback he gives back are super criticizes and demands students to do whatever he wants to do. If you turn in the wrong assignment accidentally, there is no redos or retirees. If possible, choose another teacher.
Avoid. Professor doesnt understand the fact that students have a life outside of the classroom. Difficult to work with, seems to have a arrogant attitude. Dont recommend.
Prof Ross is a solid professor probably because he used to be the dean of the school. Strict but understandable teacher. There's homework every week and 2 deadlines usually on Tuesdays and Fridays. There are usually 2 or 3 lectures that you have to take notes on and turn in at the end of the week. Overall a reasonable teacher
Worse online math class Ive taken. Have to watch all lecture videos and must take notes for lectures and homework. Must scan notes every week and he grades your notes as well. He expects too much out of students. I didnt appreciate the way he talks to students, very criticizing. I learn more watching YouTube and khan videos than his lectures.
This is one to avoid. So Much HomeWORK. each week at least AT LEAST 20 hours of tedious hw if you are smart. if you are dumb like me expect the biggest timesink of your life. dropped early-mid way, after the first test. tests consist of a few hard questions with more words than numbers and the hardest numbers he can find. AVOID IF CAN PLS:D
This class was a lot of work, like at least 5 hours per sitting. You have assignments every single week and notes are required. Prof grades the notes. In his lectures, he explains thing as if the person watching already knows half of the stuff and that was kind of annoying. I wouldnt recommend unless you have a lot of time.
Only good thing about him is the extra credit. Homework takes HOURS and there are 3-4 due per week. He explains nothing in the lectures and they're all very long. He makes this class difficult for no reason. Not flexible or understanding. My parents taught me more than his lectures EVER did. Do your mental health a favor and AVOID this teacher!!
Awful. This professor has got to have little man syndrome. He works at a community college but makes sure to make this class extremely difficult with long lectures, too much homework, and then grades harshly. Avoid this teacher at all costs.
Just be ready to sit at your desk for hours listening to this guy and trying not to lose it while also completing hard assignments worth little credit and taking very tedious notes.
!!!AVOID!!! Lectures are not very long but the note taking and showing work is very tedious. Homework can take up to two hours. Grading process is very strict; no late work, no exceptions. There are two due dates, Tuesday and Friday, for a week's worth of lectures, notes, and homework. The new week is posted every Friday and you can't work ahead.
He isn't a bad teacher, just he has pretty strict rules I would say. Lots of workload, 2 assignment due a week in which you have to watch 13-34 minute lecture with notes, and many questions on the assignments. If you pay attention in the lectures it will make a little sense. Sometimes the assignments are a little different from the lectures.
just a horrible professor. be prepared to listen to 30-35 min lecture videos of him explaining and not understanding a single thing. On a test he will not give you any points just because you did not show one simple step of the problem on your notebook. he will cross it off and say "show work" just a horrible horrible teacher. he doesn't care
Took Mulitvariable Calculus. All hw and lectures notes were extra credit. I'd estimate each week was around 11 hours of hw, but it was optional. Multivar has some hard concepts, but no quizzes were much harder than textbook examples To pass the quizzes, you'll need to at least listen to Lectures Submitting CAS (MAPLE) work was kinda annoying.
He is great. He is always available for help if needed. between 6 to 11 lecture videos. Then homework on MyOpenMath website. Then for course 1030 there's a discussion to do same as in course 0930. All of that would be your homework for the week You go through different subjects each week also. Then turn that in to be graded. 100% would take again.
Professor Rosik is one of the greatest math professors I have had in my entire life. His lecture videos made every topic easy to understand. Yes, the homework gets long at times and using MAPLE gets annoying, but the class was great overall. Homework and lecture notes were extra credit, but served to be extremely useful on the open note tests.
Professor Rosik's class is well-structured. With a mix of video lectures, homework on MyOpenMath, and discussions, the workload is manageable. unstuck study is a useful study tool alongside the textbook. Would take again.
SO MUCH HOMEWORK and class moves extremely fast. Instead of asking if you need help, leaves snarky comments on exams and hmwk commenting on study habits instead of trying to understand. Condescending and does not care that students have heavy load of homework from other classes or that you are working PT or FT. Prepare to have NO LIFE outside class
You would think you're at a full blown university taking this class, it is so fast and difficult and hard to understand. Most homework I have ever had.
Taking this class was like being handed an Allen wrench to build IKEA furniture—no manual, missing parts, and penalties for not “intuiting” everything. The lectures barely aligned with assignments, and formatting mattered more than learning. I still pulled an A, but not out of clarity—out of pure spite and survival instinct.
Lecture notes are required to be summited, HW work required, about 4 sections per week each section is like 7 pages of notes. 3 exams on some website no zoom. nice prof, easy to reach, little harsh at grading, Lots and lots of extra credit which is good. overall not a bad prof but be ready to put in work even if you don't care.
very hard grader and strict about how you do things. everything needs to be exactly how he likes it or points will be taken off. overall a bad prof and I would recommend the class but a different teacher
This class has been the worst online class I've ever taken. The lectures are from years ago. There's just examples given in the teaching. No ACTUAL teaching going on whatsoever. Anybody who says he's a good teacher is a another teacher giving their colleague a boost on this site. There's no possible way anybody enjoys this class.
I have never written a review on a professor before, but I felt I had to for him. I had to withdraw from the class - expectations were high. I should have realized it when he had us sign a contract.
