VERY BORING! I found it very difficult to sit through class everyday without falling asleep. The class would be alright if he would speak up and maybe have even the slightest bit of a personality!

The most boring monotone teacher ever. Every once in a while he'll surprise you with some personality. Teaches easy things and makes them seem hard. If you ask a question he'll pretty much tell you the answer. Practice tests are WAY easier the real ones.

For a calc class it was very easy. He is very understanding and a sweetheart in general. Doesnt collect homework, tests and quizzes are fair, labs are hard - but he will give extra time.

What a great guy. If you go to his office hours, you cant say he's not an excellent teacher and a lot of help. If you don't put in the effort, you will suffer. granted, class can be slow at times, but he is a good professor and beyond willing to help.

shy person, very monotone. He does pick favorites. Actually has a great personality but hides it in class...an A on the practice test is like a C- on the real one, practice tests are a joke. Makes you memorize pointless formulas you just forget. I havent even bought the book and am getting a A-.

This prof is real easy and he knows his stuff. Just watch out when he is doing stuff on the board because even prof mess up. You don't even need to buy the book, unless you need extra practice. The homework is opinional-don't do it unless you need practice because it doesn't help or hurt your grade.

G-dawg is great! He's hilarious, and more than willing to help you and let you work with your classmates. The tests are a little difficult, but for the majority of the time, he gave us an entire sheet of paper to use as a notecard.

I loved this class. I'm trying to make sure I have him for MTH 122 cause he's awesome! I got an A in that class and I didn't buy a book. I personally think he's cute in an dorky kinda way. but he's hilarious, sometimes he would stop class and say let's go there would still be 35 min left, take him!

I think Prof. Thull is a good professor. I liked mth 110 with him so much that I choose to take mth 122 with him also. Prof. Thull is always willing to help-even on take home tests. He throughly goes over the material and always asks if anyone has questions. In 110 he lets you use notes on nearly every test and quiz and sometimes in 122 also.

he's very quiet and has chicken scratch handwriting, but he is one of the best math teachers I've ever had. homework is not mandatory, but he'll tell you if he wants something handed in. prepares you well for tests..awesome professor, definitely recommend him.

He is a nice guy, seems kinda dorky. haha overall he is very smart but did not always explain everything. He has a very fast teaching style, we would cover a chapter a class period. His test are easy if you know what your doing . . he never let us out early or let us have breaks. But math is math, and he did seem to have good intentions.

Thull is a great professor, he teaches math the way it is meant to be taught. He makes it so that you don't worry about your grade, and just learn the material. A gpa booster for sure. Just do the work, and go to class and you will do fine. He is always in his office and willing to help, even during times that are not his office hours.

I never really understood math too well until G. Thull... I took him for 110 and liked him so much I took him for 122 and would reccomend him to ANYONE who takes 110 or 122. He makes sure after ever problem that there are no questions and goes over any questions that studends have. Good guy

Attendence is not mandatory but there are daily in class assignments that are worth points but he only counts the highest 25. Very easy class...he explains everything well and is available outside of class...tests are not that hard.

Ugh...Don't take trig with this guy. He over complicates everything and moves very fast through sections. Problem Sets are tricky and the test problems are tricky as well. Very challenging and a hard grader. He's a good guy, with good intentions, but I recommend not to take him for trig.

I regret taking this professor's class. He isn't very clear when he is going over material during class and often makes mistakes him self. He is very stingy on the partial credit for test problems and has made several grading errors on my exams. I have approached him many times about correcting the mistakes and he says he will but never has.

Listens to his students while explaining eveything you dont understand over and over until you get it. Great prof, study for his tests and do the HW, not mandatory but they still help to learn the material. I had him for Mth 122 & 110 and i would keep taking him, amazing!

Greg was an AWESOME prof! He explains things very well so you understand. It was one of the easiest classes i've ever taken! Don't go over your 4 absenses because you want all your assignment points because it can make or break your grade! Have to study for tests but fairly easy. TAKE NOTES, pay attention, homework is not mandatory!

Thull is a cool guy. He knows his stuff and has the lecture notes typed out for you, all you have to do is go to class and fill in the blanks! In class assignments to raise your grade, homework isn't mandatory,and gives you practice exams. The only thing I don't like is that the homework is easier than the exam problems. Easy A if you go to class.

Hes a goofy guy, but he teaches well. The practice exams are ALL you need to study. Homework not mandatory, but he will occasionally offer you to use homework on a quiz, but I never did it. Very easy class. Only one large project. Overall an ok math class to take.

Good teacher. He tries to make things seem harder than they really are. His tests are easy if do the pratice tests he posts. Don't buy the book either, I have never used it. He gives out problem sets every week and that is what I used to study from also they really help.

He is a great guy and this class is really easy if you come to class. Also, make sure you do the practice tests he puts online and you can get 100% on every test. He also lets you use formula sheets and you can write whatever you want on it. The textbook isn't necessary at all, I never even opened mine...

he was an alright teacher but if your expecting college calc to be like high school calc was you'll be in for a surprise. tests are alot different than material taught in class which screwed me over. just don't underestimate this class...you really have to work hard even if u thought u were good at math before

Thull is a pretty good teacher. His practice exams helped me out a lot. His notes arn't very helpful and a lot of them are unnecessary. I had him for 110 last semester and liked him a lot more. But he is VERY willing to help you. Overall an alright math class.

He's monotonous and kinda boring. HOWEVER, he knows his stuff and he's very clear and he writes everything on the board so you can have all the information in your notes. Quizzes are mostly group work and take home so make sure you go to class. I like the guy and I'd recommend him.

By far the worst math teacher I have ever had. He seems like he hates being there everyday and doesn't get into it at all. His voice is monotone the entire class period and all you do is sit there and listen to him talk. He reads directly from a notebook and always seems bored. I highly recommend looking for a different teacher. Trust me. please!

Great Prof. Can sometimes be boring and monotonous but knows his stuff. His practice exams were almost exactly like the real ones (easy) and his notes are very helpful and easy to follow. Show up to class to get points for simple in-class assignments. Homework isn't mandatory. Take him if you can, very nice guy and excellent teacher!

Probably the best math teacher I've ever had. He is a bit monotonous, but you will learn alot. I despise math, but I actually went to class because I knew I was going to learn something. He explains everything clearly. You have to study for exams. Very good prof. Take him if you can.

He was probly the best prof i had this semester bc i tend to talk and joke around in class and instead of getting mad he laughed. He is very easy and by the time we took our final he let us use 2 full pages of notes! Take him if possible, it is worth the easy A even though you are required to learn the material.

Greg is pretty good, although you have a quiz pretty much every day, most of the time it is either a group or open note quiz, so that helps. He is pretty flexible, and is willing to explain more and do extra problems if needed.

Greg is an amazing teacher. First teacher I've had at GV who truly cares about the success of his students. The whole class didn't do very well on one test so he let us retake it. He truly loves his job. Portfolio problems suck but he offers clinics throughout the semester and pretty much works through them w/ you. I'd highly recommend him!

Great prof. Quizzes almost every day, but usually open note or/and group and he takes the top 9ish, Also there are writing assignments, but you can go to the math lab for help. No HW which is great. His tests are pretty easy if you study, He puts past exams on bb and the questions on the xam are very similar to the ones before. Recommend!

One of GVSU's best. He actually cares about teaching and his students. His sheer brilliance is intimidating at first, but he does have a sense of humor. Don't let him terrify you. He has the patience of a saint, and will explain concepts over and over without making you feel dumb. No homework. Grades fair. Go to office hours if you're stuck.

Without a doubt my favorite professor ever. Greg is the nicest, most helpful guy you'll ever meet. My friends and I were in his office getting extra help quite literally every day and he never got annoyed at us. Drop whoever you have NOW and take him. I refuse to take another math class without him. Get to know him, he's great and fun.

I am awful at math, but Professor Thull is amazing at what he does! I left the class feeling like I learned something. Attend class, he gives out assignments in class and before you turn them in, he will check them over to see if you made any mistakes and will let you correct them. Very willing to help! Didn't really use the book, used powerpoint

Best professor I've ever had. I am terrible at trig, and I would go to his office every day for homework help. He was awesome at helping me outside of class via e-mail as well. I don't know how I got so lucky to be in his class considering most math teachers are 'blah'. TAKE HIS CLASS!!!

Prof. Thull is the best.! He moves at a reasonable pace and gives plenty of examples and extra practice assignments to use at your discretion. He reviews before ever test and gives test reviews as well as samples of old tests. Overall he is an excellent professor and is very fair and understanding. Take his class.!!!

Greg is such a great person. Like all the other raters say, he actually does want to see his students succeed. He let our class redo a question that most everyone bombed on an exam. He's teaches very logically, not filling his lesson plan with a bunch of unnecessary fluff.

Prof Thull presented the material clearly and was open to questions. He thoroughly explained the problems, outlining each step lucidly. He strictly follows the book's definitions and examples, though--sometimes good for following easily, but bad because he doesn't always explain the concept beyond the definition.

Greg was cool peoples. he's not hard at all, just do your work and study the notes he gives you. On the final he lets you use a cheat sheet with whatever you put on there. You should also come to class.

Loved Greg Thull. He was quieter and not judgemental if you did not understand a concept that seemed simple. Would highly recommend him. There is no textbook, but there is online version along with WebAssign (online homework) he gives you 10 tries for each question and will reset if needed. Cool guy who truly wants to help his students

So boring. His homework is a little harder than I expected, but not awful. He is really helpful and helps you to understand it better. His final was so inexplicably hard- it was stuff he did not even cover. My entire class bombed it. Wouldn't necessarily recommend him.

Best college math professor at GVSU! explains any and everything, office hours available, online homework, quizzes here and there,3 test, and he evens lets you drop one of your bad test scores for the higher one!!!!!! GREAT PROFESSOR

I am awful at math, and he made it SO easy to understand. I've never gotten an A in a math class, but I did in this one! He's super clear in his instructions, and willing to give you tons of extra credit for each test. Plus, his reviews for tests are pretty much straight off the test. Take him! As long as you go to class, you'll get an A.

I thought he was a really good Math professor. All his quizzes were open notes. You can do the in class assignments as groups. He teaches very well. Definitely recommend him. Answers all questions well.

Greg was a great professor! He was open to questions and helped students understand concepts when they needed it. We never use the text, and most homework is online. He had an awkward sense of humor which made the class kind of fun. I don't like math, but out of all classes his was the one I looked forward to! Definitely recommend!

I took this professor because of all the great reviews and I regret it. He is NOT helpful, there is NO partial credit on problems on tests and there is NO extra credit. I'm horrible at math and went to class every day and got 94\100 on my homework but still bombed every single test. Do NOT take him if you need pass.

Im terrible at math so this class wasnt enjoyable. If youre taking to get your gen ed over I wish you the best. Thull makes it not suck AS bad but its math, just can't make it go away. Class is easy, unless it's exam day...

This class was very easy. We had a lot of group projects, but you are allowed to work with your group members and use your notes on all in class quizzes. He is very easy going when it comes to due dates, and his tests are fairly simple and strait forward. Wonderful math instructor, and his lecture notes are very easy to follow and understand.

Thull is the sweetest teacher ever. He does fill in notes which are really easy. The group projects sucked but they brought up your grade if you do well. He grades tough on exams but lets you use a full sheet of notes on 23 exams.

I love Professor Thull, he made this class very fun. He is kinda quiet but he's really cool and easy going. He is definitely my favorite professor I've had so far. He laughs at your jokes, which is great! I recommend taking his class. Knows what he is talking about.

Quizzes daily-mostly group or open note. Only a couple exams. Homework due online. Not usually out early. He's great. Quiet, but funny and understanding. Favorite professor by far. He's amazing. Math sucks but he makes it much better. Take notes. Come to class. It seriously helps. Greg and his brother teach at GV but take Greg!

Greg is really sweet and quiet. I hadn't taken a math class in over 2 years before I took this one, therefore I thought I wouldn't do well. However, he is an incredible professor and I feel like I learned a lot from him. There are 3 exams plus the final, and around 13 quizzes, which can be done in groups.

Calc2 is usually hard but not with Thull. Lectures are easy to understand and have enough "you do this problem" for you to get it. He is always excited to answer questions no matter how dumb they are and continues explaining until you get it. Plenty of grades, freebie homework points, and drop the lowest scores makes it easy to keep a good grade.

He's a nice guy and really did help to bolster grades, but the way he taught just made everything excessively difficult in my opinion. I've consistently been a A-B math student but found it difficult to hold a C in this class. Doesn't give partial credit on exams. However, he will help if you are not doing well.

I really enjoyed having Professor Thull this semester. He's very approachable and willing to answer any questions in or outside of class. Most of the quizzes were in groups and he drops a few low grades which is really nice. Exams are hard but fair, so study hard and you'll do fine.

This class was very manageable with Prof. Thull. There were a number of Webwork and in class quizzes, but these were useful in learning the material. He's very approachable and helpful when you have questions, and is a fair grader. Having guided notes in class was a plus as well.

By far the best math professor I have ever had. I have never been strong at math but he made me feel super confident on all tests and going into the final I have an A in the class. I wish all my math classes were taught by him. He explains things once and then asks if there are any questions. If you do the work you will get an A.

Greg was an awesome professor who took over my section halfway through the semester. His lectures were organized and effective, and he answered questions clearly. His tests were somewhat difficult but he prepares you for them since he is such a great prof. He doesn't assign a ton of hw like lots of math profs, and provides help in and outside class

Professor Thull was one of my favorite professors! He made lectures interesting and made it easy to learn. If you ever had any questions, he wouldn't stop until you fully understood. He was very clear about what was and wasn't on tests. If you can take him, do it!

The biggest problem with him is that he can be a bit boring at times but hes a good teacher. He goes to pretty great lengths to answer any question thats asked and goes in depth with the coarse material. I you show up and pay attention youll do fine.

Thull was probably the best prof I've ever had. He was so helpful and so laid back. You do little assignments in groups at the end of most classes but he was always willing to help you until you understood it and finished the assignment. He also dropped a couple of your lowest 5 pt quizzes which was nice.

Thull is a pretty good teacher. He does what is expected of him, but expects the student to independently learn through the notes. It is a typical math class so no real complaints or compliments. Has online homework due every Sunday, and actively does in class exercises for credit, so attendance is recommended. No textbook necessary.

Professor Thull was really helpful at explaining if you didn't understand something. Lecture notes were taken via a blank packet he handed out and went through on the board. Before an exam he would post exams used previous years to BB and these were incredibly useful, make sure to study those closely. I would highly recommend taking Thull for 302

Take this class in summer. Have 6 portfolio problems, 6 quizzes, 1 midterm and 1 final. Quizzes and exams are easy, the problems come from the practice problems in the books. Use 2 free, online books. The portfolio problems are easy too. Easy A.

Prof. Thull is an amazing professor. I would highly recommend taking his class. The online work that is given to you requires you to look up solutions to complete it, but otherwise alright. I did not understand most of the teachings and I always asked him questions, I highly recommend that you ask him questions. Even if they seem dumb to ask.

Love this man. I took him for Math 124 and he made it really easy to understand. You go through packets every day and he works through each problem. Def take him. I also went to the tutoring center and had a weekly tutor which made the class so much easier.

Greg is Love, Greg is life, Grag is an absolute legend. Even if youre trash at math (like me) he is available to help. If he notices you struggling in class he will help you. Professor Thull is a good choice. Personally, I was not a fan of his teaching style as I have learned the same topics in easier ways. He is very smart and knows what he is teaching though! His tests were pretty hard compared to lecture notes & webwork. Quizzes & webwork every week. He allows you to weight your own homework, tests, quizzes, etc!

Greg Thull has been the best professor I have had for a math class EVER. Super kind and seems quirky and quiet at first, but he is really so nice and helpful when it comes to any difficulties you are having with the class. Prof. Thull is an outstanding professor. I actually understand things in his lectures, unlike most classes where I teach myself. He goes through problems slowly, step by step and welcomes questions. Greg is the nicest professor I've ever had. He answers any and all questions in an extremely nice manner. He does teach at a fast pace though so I wouldn't recommend him if you already struggle with math. If you've never struggled with math you will definitely enjoy Greg as a prof and will get an A. Also, he uses a free textbook which is great.

Super nice guy, grading is kinda weird but once you get used to it, it's not bad. If you ever need help he's super willing an will answer questions during lectures which really helps. Some group things but you can work alone if you want, working with the people around you is optional. Do need to go to class though.

Greg is an amazing and caring prof. If you struggle with math, PLEASE take him! He will help you understand the material as long as you show up to class. He allows you to do test corrections and optional homework too. If you take him, do the practice exams, most of the exam questions are taken from the practice exams.

Best math professor I have had. Very accessible outside of class and is extremely willing to work with you if you are not understanding. Not regular grading criteria, we did 6 writing assignments, homework every week, 5 videos, turned in lecture notes, and get above an 85% on the exam. He was great. Very good if you are slow at math.

I have always struggled with math and have dyscalculia. This class was extremely difficult and the way he lectured was not effective for me. He seemed to get annoyed after asking too many questions. He is NOT understanding of personal issues and is very short with responses. I would not recommend taking a course with him if you struggle in math.

Course has 3 group projects, the last 2 have extra credit in a sense. Well-organized lecture packets. His teaching is pretty easy to follow and if you do get confused he'll answer questions well. Exams usually same format as online quizzes (which have unlimited attempts). If you need to reschedule in-person quizzes he will accommodate. Good guy

The prof was nice but weird class structure. he gives you a question which you havn't learned about, you try and solve it, then teaches you how to do it. Weird set up and grading system, he grades based on 4 categories and even if you have an A in 3 of the categories but a B in one of them your overall grade is a B. But will awncer any questions

Thull is very lenient with how his class is laid out. You take standards which are 1 question quizzes and they are pass or fail, but you can retake them twice. There is a little bit of webwork homework, but nothing crazy. There are no tests besides the final which is open note. This class is set up for you to pass and he is a genuinely good prof.

Professor Thull has a very almost laidback teaching style, there are no tests in the course only standards (one problem quizzes) which you can retake 2 times. There is Webwork homework which I normally found to be easier than what we did in class. He sets the class up so everyone has a good chance of passing the class. I would 100% recommend him.

Professor was decent at explanations but made some things too complicated. His grading system is not good in my opinion, as there are too many different parts that make it so that your grade can drop fast if you mess up one or two things. There were no tests, just one question standards that you can retake. Overall okay professor

Prof. Thull was kind & always available to answer questions. Some of his lectures were confusing but not unbearable. The class was easy, all the assignments were in class group work, just a completion grade. The final was a few questions about if you liked the class. I would recommend this class & Prof. Thull for an easy intro math course!
