Very good, he has good insights and doesn't have tests. He has Notebook quizes and he has you summarize the chapters and assess yourself. Those are the only assignments at all he gives you. Just be on time and take notes.

I really enjoyed this class and as long as you attend and keep up on your daily reading and weekly assignments you will get an A. Brother Wightman really focuses on the chapter that you read rather than going over the same principles everyday. I especially liked this class because it made me think.

His lectures are so awesome! He is very passionate about the subjects he teaches. He takes the class seriously, yet he knows when to add humor. Work load is appropriate for credit hours. Don't procrastinate and you'll do great in his classes!

I loved his classes. I can't believe what a bad rap he gets. He is so smart and his ADD keeps me attentive. He has helped me become a better person. I deffinetly recommend him to all who are looking into joining a BoM class.

Wow, I mean wow. I had no idea there was this whole other level to the New Testement.

His class requires you to work, but you can learn a lot. Some things might seem confusing but he is willing to talk to any student who makes the effort to ask him to clarify. I have loved the class,but I wouldnt recommend it to someone who does not want to be challenged and who is not willing to change. Great class, but don't expect it to be easy

I learned so much in this class. I never knew there was so much in the New Testament. However, this is not an easy class and not for the person who wants an easy A. He explained what his expectations were and that helped. Great guy!

Bro. Whightman expects a lot from his students. He assigns a lot of work, but I have never had a religion class change me in the way this has. He presents the doctrine in a way that made me look into my heart. He is very enthusiastic and sets the class guidelines in order from the first day of class. Amazing class!

At first I thought this clas was horrible, the work load unreasonable, and Bro. Wightman too strict (he doesn't allow you to have any absences), but if you're willing to do what he says, you'll learn some amazing things. He's very into the text and the paper can be confusing, but I haven't learned so much from a religion teacher in a long time.

I absolutely thought he was amazing. No other religion teacher has made me think about the New testament constatnly through out the day. If you do the work, and have great attendance, you shoulld do very well in his class. Take him for New Testament, it might change your life!

Great Class, Great Teacher. He has very strong opinions that I didn't always agree with but it made me think about what I DO believe. I can honestly say that I'm a better person after taking this class and I will probably take another class from him.

I love this guy! He is so wonderful and really makes you reflect on what you believe. I know that i have grown leaps and bounds this semester, and alot of it is due to brother wightmans class! There is homework due each class period, but it's all so benificail that you dont mind doing it! This guy is a great teacher!!!!!!!

Bro.Wightman is by far, my favorite teacher at BYU-I. He's very funny, but he doesn't just entertain. He's very deep with the scriptures (which i loved!) and he really knew what he was talking about. Read his syllabus very carefully and you'll be ok!!!!! I love Bro.Wightman!!!

Brother Wightman is very insightfull. He uses the scriptures and other texts to back up everything he says. He is certainly controvercial, and that leads many to believe that he teaches apostate doctrine. I have personally studied every one of his points, and there is scriptural and apostalic evidence to back up everything he says.

Brother Wightman fo'sho' deserves a "hot" mark. I love his class, he's funny, and he knows his doctrine. He backs up everything he says with the scriptures and with quotes from the twelve. He's great, I'd take his class again.

you HAVE to take one of his classes! he is an amazing professor who definately teaches by the spirit. He reopened my eyes to the gospel. No tests, just extractions that really help you get into the scriptures.

Wow!!!! I learned so much because of him. I can't believe what bad things other people have said about him. Those people just have a problem with pride, and seriously need to be humbled. It's hard work, but if you do your part you will get a good grade. Take Bro Wightman, he is AMAZING!!!

If you bend to his will and be his boy you will love his class. He said he will work you really hard and you cant miss a class and if you dont like it you can just leave so I did and got a much more kind and tactfull teacher!

Bro Wightman is definetly a great teacher. He teaches deeper doctrine that isn't taught much anymore. (That is why some people question what he teaches). I loved that there weren't any tests, therefore, attendence is mandatory. But, he's blunt, he's not trying to make you feel good, he's there to teach the gospel.

Great teacher, I have loved taking his classes. I don't want to go to religion and hear thoughts of students - I'm paying to hear the teacher and that's what I want. So if you want what you're paying for take Wightman. A lot of homework, but studying is kind of how you learn religion...go figure.

Bro. Wightman cares about his students enough to teach, passionately and unapologetically, what he believes. He's careful differentiate between doctrine and his personal beliefs, but all of it is valuable. I love the New Testament after this class because he had the ability to show us what a beautiful book it really is.

I learned a ton, sure he teaches bluntly and tells you the truth, but if you're not some whiney spoiled bratt, his class should be very beneficial to you.

It is because of professors like him that I'm glad to be at BYU-I. He has high expecations for his students, expecting that they attend the classes they're paying for, that they act like mature college students, & they put effort into the class. Don't sign up if you're not serious about learning & don't want to work. He is absolutely amazing!

i LOVE brother wightman. yeah theres homework every night but its super easy and doesnt take long at all. i have never learned so much from one teacher in my entire life. i have taken all of his religion classes and wish that he had more to teach!!!

He's a love him or hate him teacher. He teaches hard to hear lessons that hurt at first, but you come out a better person every day. As he explains in the beginning of his class, you will either be 'sturred up unto repentance' or 'stirred up unto anger.' It's your choice. I learned more in that class than anywhere else in my life except my mission!

Brother Wightman is a wonderful teacher. I really care for the passionate and honest way that he teaches. If you are very much into the "social gospel" and are very easily offended, perhaps you should find a nicer teacher that will hold your hand while teaching. I would always recommend taking him even though there is homework every day.

No, he won't tell you what the natural man wants you to hear. And if you don't expect to do homework and attend class then you shouldn't be in school.

HE IS LIFE CHANGING! The people that don't like him are those who aren't ready to change their lives. He is dead on about our nothingness. WE ARE NOTHING WITHOUT CHRIST. Plain and simple. Brother Wightman was probably the best teacher I've ever had. I do belive he's an aquired taste so to speak. It takes a while to get used to his bluntness etc. But his lectures were amazing. I learned so much and he really brought so many angles into the mix. It's a deep clas but I would recommend him to anyone

IS one of my Favorite Rel Teachers! I have taken 2 calsses from him and will be taking a thrid this year. The people that don' t like him are the ones that didn't let what he said sink in. If you plan to take his class, pray befor hand he will ask you to do the same. Beleive me it is worth his class!

It took a while to get used to his way of teaching, but if you come to class really wanting to learn and ready to accept that we all have things we need to change, he will change your life. I have taken three classes from Brother Wightman: Book of Mormon, Old Testament, and Doctrines of the Gospel. I can see how some get offended by his teaching tactics. He is very succinct and direct. Although he is human, he instilled in me for the first time(2 years ago) a true yearning to become like Christ. I am indebted.

Easy A but if u want a good experience, dont take him.helpful person, but teaches false doctrine.He'll tell u anyone who doesnt agree with him is fallen away f. Christ, but I talked to other bishops & profs, prayed about the things he taught us & theyre not true.I try to always have + outlooks but he talked only about punishments & rarely blessings

If you decide to take this prof, DO NOT blindly believe his teachings. Pray about it. Seriously. He teaches false doctrine so you must learn by the Spirit with this prof. Good guy, easy A but wants to change doctrines.

His class changed my life. Every day I came away from his class feeling so full of the spirit and the desire to learn more. My relationship with and knowledge of the Savior grew tremendously. Bro Wightman is an amazing man and teacher.

I took two classes from Him and loved him!!! He opened my eyes to a more eternal perspective on the gospel, every time class was over I smiled a little more because I felt his testimony and mine growing as well. Its a butt kicker, you need to come to class but you will learn alot!

One of the greatest minds on this campus. Strong testimony in the restored Gospel. Incredible understanding of the scriptures and doctrines of the Gospel. Brought me to an understanding of my complete dependence on Christ. Does not teach false doctrine, like others have said! Some homework is rough, but enjoyed doing all of it.

Brother Wightman is one of the most knowledgable teachers on campus. He doesn't try and create a spiritual experience, he teaches by the spirit and allows you to feel it for yourself, which if you have the spirit with you, you will feel it immensly. My testimoney has grown more from his class than any other experience in my life! Best teacher ever

Extremely knowledgeable. Fun teacher, I have learned a TON about Moses and Children of Israel. Focuses more on withdrawing doctrines & principles, rather than storyline, which I like. Only suggestion I would make is that he ask better/more involving questions. Tends to ask q's that require you to finish his sentence rather than ponder or apply...

He is the best Book of Mormon teacher ever. He gives it to you straight up. I will only take him for my religion classes.

I loved his class! I had him for both 121 and 122 and I actually looked forward to going to his clas every tues and thurs. It was so great and I am actually bummed out that he encourages us to take classes from others so we can get other views than just his, but I would take his class again anyways.

Two days a week and an hour each time is definately not enough for this teacher! I honestly think I will never EVER forget him and what he has opened my eyes to. As a bishop he has great experiences. He may seem scary at first, but he's awesome and so humble. Take him with an open heart ready for the Spirit. You won't regret it.

Brother Wightman is awesome! At first I was pretty skeptical of what to expect, but after the first week I was very content with the class. You write a paper every class but it's so easy! You write 3 points on what you read! He does all of the talking in class, which I really enjoyed. He never puts students on the spot and I really enjoyed that!

Loved this class. He made it so interesting and understands the students point of view. Class is a fun discussion without to much note taking. If you do the homework you will pass the tests. Take him as a teacher. I loved him. Hilarious.

Best religion teacher here. I loved his class. It's so hard to take enough notes he is really good at explaining things and he really knows a lot about Hebrew culture and the scriptures. It's hard because there's so much to teach we couldn't cover everything in class. I would recommend him for anyone taking a religion class that he teaches.

VERY good teacher. One of my favorite teachers on campus. The class work is easy but there are assignments due every class period. Reading 2-3 chapters is required to complete the assignment. RECOMMENDED.

Loved him, he does not teach his "own" doctrine like lots of these people say. He teaches the gospel they way it should be taught. He doesn't sugar coat it like everyone else does. I enjoyed every second of his class. Assignments weren't hard they were just due before every class. There were no tests either.

I took his book of mormon class as a hybrid. don't take if you don't want a lot of online homework. He's very long-winded. very. I honestly fell asleep a couple times during class. the assignments weren't hard there were just a lot of them every week. also no tests or projects or papers which i loved. just lots of little assignments.

Best religion teacher on campus. The only one who knows what hes taking about. Classes are rich in doctrine and very very interesting. Assignments are typical and easy. Don't take an online course from him, listen to his lectures in person.

Great teacher. Doesn't sugar coat anything. If you feel like a baby and want to be treated like one, don't take him. If you are ready to hear things as they are take him. He does get offended easily so think before you speak but don't be afraid to talk. He likes talkers. Great teacher! would recommend to any big kid.
