he's cool
i think he is a very good teacher especially for those who are coming in as freshmen who dont have a very strong math foundation, bc he will flat out make you learn you stuff. i took him for my first college math class and i was set from then on.
This class sucks! He is possibly the most annoying professor I have ever had!! His test and his unhelpfulness seems almost as if he wants little success from his students.
Cool?
Professor Dietrich is too busy trying to make himself seem intellectual than to help a student!! You can tell he feels inferior teaching a "pretend" math, B/c he spends most his time trying to convince students that they actually need this math
Definately knows his material and is always prepared. Likes to go into theory. If you have questions you have to make time to see him in his office because he doesn't answer any in class. Very willing to help after class.
Great Professor! Loves math. Tough course, but you will be a master of trig. This rigourous course will prepare you easily for Cal 2.
Good start...by the end he had us memorizing so many formulas I couldn't keep any of them strait. Will not answer questions in class slow enough to understand the answer. Will pick you apart on test for trivial crap. Be ready to do A LOT of work!
His Method of presenting material and his testing (only 4 test) with no credit for H/W was not helpful to me as a student... I would not recommend him for any student that has difficulties with subject... he doesn't seem to be on the same planet.
He is the worst professor I have ever had. Will not help for anything. Has further proven the fact that a professor can make or break a class. Do not take him!!!!!
he's more of a calc teacher to me.math is my stronger subject, and point blank fell his class. If yourintoappplications and a wholer lotofhigher level advanced work, this is your man if not.RUN!there were 36 people to start with,8 finish & 2pasted.
good teacher but hard test. The bottom line is you learn the material and if you pass his class you will be ready for the next level. be prepared for lame hippy jokes... happy trees =)
Grades too diffucult and doesn't go over homework which would be a big help. Most kids in class fail all the tests.
he is very hard and will make you memorize all the formulas that it will tkae most of your time. So if you are taking more then one class you will have to choose from one or the other. if you are also looking to make a "A" you better have already taken his class before. If you want something easy th
Class was WAY hard. Should college alg really be this impossible? I went to paxon and took maths up through trig... and i still failed. the only grades were tests that were roughly scored....
This class is NOT for anyone looking for an easy A. If you want to learn ALOT but don't mind working VERY hard - this class is for you. Prof D., to say the least, knows his stuff. His lectures are very thorough and clear. But he does try to make his class interesting with stories & corny jokes.
Dietrich is the worst!I even had Shad and Kovaly and got As in both. The only grades u get in MGF are 4 tests. His tests are VERY hard and you don’t get a formula card. The last test is cumulative over 13 chpt.and u have to know 30+ formulas. If u bomb 1 test u are screwed!Dont take him if u can help it
if you pass with this guy, you will feel like the SMARTEST MAN ALIVE! looks like slim goodbody, tells awful jokes, dont be fooled by easiness in class, grades are only based on four REALLy hard tests.
he is a straight forward teacher who tell horrible jokes
He has some great calves. I end up marveling at them when trying not to fall asleep through his lectures. Thank GOD he doesn’t check homework.
he its a great teacher he doesnt explain the work that much
He is the worst !! Avoid taking him if you can !! Acts as though the only thing in the world is math and is not very understanding to anything else , was rude and treated us like we were 10 instead of full grown adults !!
I enjoyed Professor D. and his class, but I failed it anyway. I would recommend him only if you're a math whiz.. there are too many formulas to memorize, no going over HW, and your whole grade is based on only four tests.. He will try to help you, though, if you ask.
He was the worst teacher I have ever had!! He didn't go over test or h/w, plus he didn't believe in giving test reviews. The last class before the final instead of reviewing he decides to teach us something new that were not even going to be tested on. He was very rude to me, constantly making fun of me,(he makes you feel stupid) DON'T TAKE HIM!!
This was the worst math class I have ever taken! Professor Dietrich has a very condescending attitude and actually tries to make students feel stupid. He wastes time explaining unnecessary lessons that won't even be on the test. When you ask him for help, he constantly belittles you for not coming sooner, not paying attetion in class, etc.
Um... let me put it this way. The only two girls that were in our class dropped it after the first few weeks. He cares 0 about students and wants to get $$$. This is the worst teacher I have ever had. I love calculus, I respect him as a human, but I hate his teaching.
Every rater that is complaining either failed because they didn't put forth effort, or are angry because they didn't get an easy A. If you want an extra math class for fun, avoid Professor Dietrich. If you want to walk away prepared for physics, calculus, etc, there's nobody better. Very hard class but very successful learning experience.
very hard...teaches way too fast..very boring...stay away and do not take
He is a good teacher but he is some times hard to understand when he explains the material. You need to do all of the homework and study hard. He is not an easy teacher.
he was really hard, i took trig just after this class because i fail and it was so much easier with somebody else. i think the reason why mainly had to do this the way he explained identities. the test were absurdly hard too. when he would give us examples in the class and for hw they were simple but on the test they were 10x harder/ more complex
He made the most boring subject actually pretty amusing. He jokes alot but is actually very seriuse about getting the class prepared for the next level
Good teacher if you have a passion for math. Gives home quizzes, willing to help you for hours after class if you need it. This teacher might be a little hard for the lower level classes. For precalc and up, he is good. For elementary and intermediate, if you are just looking for a passing grade, I would consider looking for someone else.
I had professor dietrich for calculus, and even though it was a very difficult subject I thought he was very helpfull and encouraging. As long as he sees that you are trying he makes an outstanding effort to explain the material. He also has a quirky sense of humor that makes calculus almost bearable.
took him for intermediate algebra. class was very fast paced, no overview at all! difficult tests. you will fail this class if you dont pass every test and quiz. i know, because i did. would have liked more overview and more assignments(so you have a better chance to pull your grade up if you do poorly on a test or quiz).
Professor D is the best!!!!! If he can get me to understand math, he can get anyone to. Very funny in class. All quizzes are take-home. You can have a "formula sheet" on all tests. Easy A for me.
This is the best professor Iv'e ever had by far, however if you don't want to learn mathmatics, or if you want someone to give you a grade, don't even think about it.
Best prof ever had take this class if you want to learn if your thinking of an easy A look somewhere else, ohh yeah i forgot your taking calculus.
Awesome prof. just do what he tells you to do, go by his office to clear up questions and utilize any help from the math lab that u can, this prof can teach.
Take Trig with this prof, he will explain identities in such a way that you will acyually learn what they are and how they can be used, he's crystal clear and doesn't mind helping you after class as long as you have at least attempted all of the homework.
he's tough. Nice guy and means well, but he doesnt explain things thoroughly in class and then expects students to stay an hour or more with him after class or with a tutor. I just wish i actually learned more DURING the 2 hour class. His tests are hard, and if you bomb one, you will probably bomb the next. Long story short, i had to drop the class
Prof. D helped me every time I came by his office with questions. His class wasn't easy however I'm in college algebra now and his class def. preped me for this course. I'd rec em' for anybody that is an adult and can be mature enough to do assigned work on time.
Prof D is the man, take home quizzes few tests and continuous informative lecture. Take this class especially if your a math major.
took this class a couple of years ago. he's a tough grader. i received a C+ with a 79.5 final grade. he couldn't find .5 anywhere. i studied hard but business calculus was not real exciting.
Great professor! I had him for algebra and Im taking his class again. His class prepares you for the next one.
Prof D is awesome. Take his class seriously and you'll do fine. Ask em about the belloit number.
he was ok... i didnt get him. its seemed like he made everything sound harder than it was. i had previously took a precal/trig class and it was mainly review but he just made the stuff seem impossible
Awesome prof!!! he WILL teach you the material.
Prof D was really good at getting me to see the theory behind what we were learning. His class is definately not easy however he gives you every opportunity to do well. He gives you 25% of your grade as take home quizzes. Seriously, if you don't pass his class its because you dont really want to.
He was very hard. I dropped from MAC1105 to this class to refresh my math skills and I failed! He was very mean, sarcastic, and never answered questions. He belittled us because we were a lower math class. All he does is crack stupid math jokes and talk about being a hippy. He has a gray mullet and wears pink socks! I would not reccomend him
25 percent of your final grade is take home and most of the test questions were really easy. def take this course if you want an a.
He is a very hard teacher not impossible, but very hard. If you are good at math and are looking for a challenge, take him! I do not prefer his teaching style. There is a review on this site that describes Dietrich perfectly. Here is an excerpt "i received a C+ with a 79.5 final grade. he couldn't find .5 anywhere." Can't describe him any better.
this was my first time coming back to college and i placed in college algebra. i haven't taken a math class since 2003! I have made an A on every test and any points missed are little things. if you pay attention to everything he says and do your homework/quizzes... Piece of Pie!
He's a good teacher, just a little frustrating sometimes with his grading. He's extremely picky with answers and the way you complete your work. If you struggle with math I would suggest him because he is very helpful. But if you know what your doing then I would suggest a different professor.
This Professor will do whatever it takes to help you learn. The comment about the 79.5; I'll bet anything that the same person's cell phone goes off during his lecture after they come in late to class. I've taken four classes with the guy and he couldn't be more forgiving. However, he will let you know how to do things correctly!
Dietrich.. He doesnt make you do the hw, but it really helps. take home quizzes, attendance isn't mandatory. But you dont want to miss a day. his notes are crystal clear to his Exams. I would take him again because he is straight forward about math. Super organize Great TEACHER funny man.
He is not a good professor.Would not recommend him to anyone. His homework and quizzes are easy but the tests are ten times harder. Will not take him again!
Dietrich is a great professor, he will set you up for your next class no matter which major your pursuing, he doesn't always give the hardest problems and he forces you into correct notation and techniques. I would def take em again.
He is a great teacher. His class is tough, but that is because Math isn't easy. His notes are clear. Don't bring your cell phone to class. He has a dry sense of humor, but he is funny. He really tries to prepare you for the future, not just the class he is teaching. He really cares and is always willing to answer questions and help, in class or out
Great Prof. Doesn't put up with any non sense. Leave your cell phone outside of class. If it goes off there will be a problem.
Great instructor, uses class time efficiently, and keeps the class interesting with his humor. Not easy but an A is more than possible. Highly recommend
If you are a lazy student that wants to skate through a class not learning much, don't take Deitrich. If you truly want to learn and be prepared for the next class TAKE HIM!!! He doesn't take crap from students and only gives up on them when they give up on themselves. If you try he will help you the whole way.
Great, helpful professor. Makes math worth gutting it out for. He'll do whatever it takes to make sure you succeed.
His class is the worst part of my day. He is obsessed with himself and only considers his point of view. However, to his credit, he does know what he is talking about. If he weren't so smug and into himself, I might actually enjoy his class.
Professor Dietrich is the best teacher I have ever had at FSCJ. Be prepared to work for him. Pay attention to ALL his notes and hang off of every single word he says in class and you'll do fine. Also, don't miss a single class. If you do, you will get too far behind to catch up.
Definately not the easiest teacher I have had...........I'm a freshman right out highschool and he was kinda difficult......If you suck in math PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!' I repeat PLEASE!!!' do not take him!!!! And if you do take him do not miss a single day bc u WILL fall hopelessly behind!!
People who do not "get it" aren't doing the HW. He gives every opp to pass, but students are just lazy. He gives the opp that if you are failing, but pass his final, he gives a C, but many see that as a opp to do nothing, then just pass. Do his work and ask questions and you will pass as he is CRYSTAL CLEAR on the material.
Fantastic professor. I struggled alot with Intermediate Algebra and decided to take Professor D for College and he was a GODSEND. He gives amazing notes and you will walk away fully understanding. Homework is not mandatory but stay on top of it or you will fall behind. Take him and you won't regret it.
Grades VERY strict. He is very clear in explaining the material. He is always willing to help students. Do homework, don't miss class. THIS IS NOT AN EASY A CLASS. YOU HAVE TO WORK HARD.
I advise anyune not to take this teacher. He wonders off the top to another higher level than you are there to learn. I DO NOT advise anyone to take him.He will tell you to do all your and turn it in and if it's late you will still get credit, and do the best job you can on your test and you would get at least a "c". IT IS NOT TRUE because I got an
I am a firefighter and tell me when I am going to use graphing? I agree with every poor rating he has gotten. He gives examples in class and on the test there totaly different. Now I ahve to take this class over and work and support my family. I not special but do what I do for a living and we will talk. He suscks as a teacher. I think to much acid
If you are someone who does not study everything that is taught in class then this is NOT the class for you. Attendance is not required but if you miss one class you will be behind. This is an excellent prof, no doubt. He is not one to give extra credit or drop a test. The grade you recieve is the grade you deserve. he'll blow your mind, take him.
AMAZING PROF. If you are not interested in math or are just taking it to get an "EASY A" then this is not the glass for you. You will work your behind off and those who do, do very well. Pay attention, take good notes, and come to class on time. Ask questions whenever you do not understand. I recom. him to all my friends.
If you are not a Math or Engineering Major, DO NOT TAKE! He does not help, he blames you for everything, he will humiliate you in class, and you will not do well on the exams. He is supposed to be teaching you the basics but he focuses his whole class on the math majors, and I bet those people are writing the good reviews. Don't waste your time!
Excellent Prof. Never get behind, stay on top of assign. If you do everything the way he tells u to do it you will have no problems. Def recommend for engineers and math majors. Half the class will fail, but if you stay on top of the notes, visit during office hours, and ask quesitons you will pass and get a deeper understanding of the material.
If you have taken this prof before, you know what to expect. However, I warn people whose integration technigques are not the best. He expects perfection. Never come in late, he will stop and say something. Covers everything one needs to know, VERY DETAIL ORIENTED. Knows his stuff. You will leave with great insight. U get the grade u deserve.
Very difficult teacher. Unless u are sure u have an interest in math please do not take his class it will cause u alot of unnecessary stress. Hes very picky abt everything and grades mainly on the small stuff. Definately a terrible class.
Picks you out during class and humiliates you for not knowing something. Runs completely of topic. Expect more out of you then you expect out of you. If you need to take it, just get it over with.
DO NOT slack off. Study study study. If you are not an engineering major or good with algebra this class will be difficult. I am neither of the two and found this class to be difficult. But I admit I did not put the time into it I should have. He is smart & helpful though. STUDY is all I can say ;)
Awful class, prof gets off topic and gives you life lesson during class. He will call you out, and you have to ask before you go to the bathroom. Quizzes and tests only, not many points to be earned so do good on everything. Dislike his grading, marking you off when you are right but didn't do something like he wanted. Wouldn't take again ever.
This is really not an easy course but an A is possible. Its true that there is a coorelation in the amount of homework you do and the grade you get. You must work hard to be successful.
Gets way off topic with each class, really hard if you just sit there. You have to do all work just to get a good grade.
Grades really hard, will take off points if small things are missing or wrong. He's a funny professor, he makes a lot of jokes in class which helps keep it entertaining for those of us who hate math. Overall he's a cool guy to take a class from, but for me the material itself was what made the course so difficult.
This is my second class with this professor and many have returned to retake him. He expects you to remember all of the trig values and identities but you will leave knowing everything you need to.
Prof D is an excellent instructor!! He does expect you in class and paying attention, but we are in college so you should be doing that anyway!! If you do the hw and pay attention you will do fine on tests. He was always available and very helpful during his posted office hours. Would take any of his classes if I needed additional math!!
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! He made it impossible to pass his class. His examples and notes are different from the OPTIONAL homework he assigns, so you learn by yourself. He also marks off points for tiny mistakes. This was definitely not an easy class. I do not recommend.
Very strict grader! However if you actually wish to learn something from class you paid for, take him! Homework is ungraded but NOT optional. Ask ?s @ office hours! Copy notes exactly, and do homework exactly same as notes. Great teacher that wants you to do great! If you are just some half-butt wanting to skate through a class, pick someone else.
To all you crying little kids... THIS IS COLLEGE! This is Math so DO YOUR HOMEWORK it will help you. the Quizzes are not hard they are take home and you usually have the weekend to look for answers. the test are hard but i manage to make B's on all them. if you do the good in all the quizzes and "pass" at least 2 test you will pass the class.
Teaches for people who are going to higher math classes, not the rest of us. You don't understand? No time for questions in class, have to see him in his office. It's your fault if you don't understand - his response is you're not doing the homework, even when you are. I don't know if I'd take him again if I needed more advanced math.
Do not take the 6 week college algebra class unless you are already familiar with the material or you have a strong math background.
I started with Prof. Dietrich at the Precal/Trig level. At the time, I was prone to small mistakes. I was weak at arithmetic. I looked at his tough grading as a challenge to improve my skills. I finished Calc 1 with a near perfect score. He is a strict grader because he wants YOU to succeed!
no complaints. Enjoyed the class
He was very organized, but he is one of the profs who are really smart, but don't know how to explain it to you.
Both a giver and a taker. He will give you laughs as he delivers his classroom lectures. He will take from you in the form of being a 'demanding of excellence' type instructor. Highly recommended for those who wish to have supieror math skills and willing to earn them. He is relentless in filling your head with knowledge.
Prof Dietrich is very smart, teaches clearly, and is very helpful. He expects you to help yourself to learn. He does not grade homework, and gives take home quizzes. He gives lots of notes, but the quizzes and tests come straight from the notes. He's engaged while teaching and can be quite humorous at times. I highly recommend him. Great teacher!
Well youre in college. Best start acting like it. Hes a great teacher, the subject is just really hard. Do the hw, even if its not a grade. Quizzes help bring your grade up because test are hard. Be happy with a C.
Tough class, great professor! Don't expect to be coddled; do your homework and you'll do fine.
Truly what a professor should be. Seriously, if you do exactly what he tells you to do, you'll be surprised at how much you enjoy it. I hated algebra before taking his class, and the first class had me fearing for my life. His grading is simple. and he may seem intimidating in class but if you head to his office after class he is so excited to help
One of the best professors youll ever have, known in several other universities. He gives very clear notes so take yours and do your homework. Youll learn a lot in the end. No calculators some tests cause he expects you to know the steps. Even so his non-calculator tests are fairly straightforward. Intimidating at first but hes always open to help.
This professor gives you work even though you do not know the material. He is such a hard grader. Unnecessary on everything he does. If your algebra skills is on point you might like him, but if not STAY AWAY!!!!!!!! The only grades you get is quizzes and tests. The hw is mandatory but is not graded and it is almost 50 questions.
Not unless you want an F permanently attached to your transcript, do not even bother taking this class. This teachers capability to teach is solely, dependent on doing homework on your own time and lectures. When you leave a class you should have learned something but, even with the extra time you put into studying your efforts will be pointless.
Professor Dietrich knows the material, but does not express it to his students well. He easily gets off topic, then gets behind and rushes through the material. He does allow a note sheet for most tests, which is appreciated. Although the homework isn't graded, passing is hard without it.
OMG! This was the toughest class I took. He's an awesome teacher but you really have to work for your grade and study. Not really recommended if you have a job because you will need a lot of time to study.
Professor D is literally one of coolest teachers I ever met. He's extremely supportive as a teacher and really cool to talk to. BUT, there's tons of homework and it's not even required. If you're like me, hate math and aren't motivated for math ever, do not take this because you more than likely won't do the homework.
I do not recommend this class for anyone. I have never studied this hard in my life and I still did horrible. His lectures are not very clear. If you do take this class, go to his office hours. He explains things much better
You must be a genius to pass this man's class. When he lectures he is easy to understand and you leave thinking you understood everything. He gives a ridiculous amount of homework that he expects you to do that isn't a grade and ridicules you if you don't do it. His test are impossible to pass. He takes off points wherever he can.
He's a great teacher if you're not a slacker. End of story.
Unless you have previous knowledge of the subjects that are being taught then you are already one step behind. Prof. D is a cool guy and he is very willing to help but his teaching style is just not the best. He lectures all class, his homework is not mandatory but if not done then you are going to be lost. Finds little things to take off points.
He knows the matherial, but he is easily distracted in class and we have to rush to cover everything. Besides he is the thoughter grader. If you don't do the questions exactly as he said he will take a couple points. It doesn't matter if you did it perfectly fine. In some exams we are allowed to use a calculator and in others not!. Dont take it.
It's Greg D the math guy Professor D is hilarious, I've taken a few classes with him now and he knows his stuff and teaches well. Even if you don't do well on the tests the take home quizzes are worth an equal portion of your grade so you can really bring your average up there
Honestly, if you are not good at math don't take his class. He goes very fast and covers 2-3 topics in one class. If you miss one class you will fall behind, and he does make you do all homework through the book. Although homework is not mandatory.
I took probability and statistics in high school last year and barely passed with a D, but in Mr. D's class (which covers a lot of probability concepts) I am passing with A's and B's on his tests. He is a terrific teacher and makes sure his students focus on one problem at a time. I recommend taking his class!
The absolute worst math class I have ever taken. If you get an answer right he will start mark off points because you did not do it his way. His way is all that matters. He makes routine concepts seem impossible and covers new material way too quick.
He took off points for ridiculous things like showing too much work (10 points or more for things like an extra equals sign). You could only show your work HIS way (which he would not explain before hand), and he would mark problems half off to 100% wrong if he didn't like how you worked it even if you got the right answer.
Do not and i repeat do not take this man class. If you are not good at math like me please just save your self the trouble. This man is really not a teacher for every student. Especially dont take him if you are not majoring in engineering. This ma class really had me physically and mentally strained
No thanks.
He has a textbook, and its not mandatory to have it, but it really helps studying. While he doesn't grade attendance, you definitely aren't passing without showing up. That said, he's an incredible professor, very inspirational, and well liked by serious students. He gives great lectures and really makes sure you understand all of the concepts.
Professor D likes to do it old school, if you rusty on previous materials u better get it ready before u attend his class , he will challenge you math skills and knowledge. long tests with only 105 minutes. lots of homework , and fast lectures . he offers to help in and outside working hours and give second chance 4 some problems of your tests.
please make sure you really cover all the previous material before taking this class Very strict with phone use in class, takes points even if it's right answer no sheat sheets gives 1 or two make up problems from tests very helpful at his office hours u can skip all tests and he will still give you make up ones just like 1 chick from our class.
This professor demands perfection, if you get the answer correct he will take off more than half the question for the smallest mistake. He claims his coworkers are terrible. He does not allow a formula sheet because you won't have one at a university (not a true statement). If you go to ask for help he does not give it. Its mostly writing not math.
Truly one of the worst professors I've ever had. Doesn't post grades online, "my way or the highway" mindset, and takes off points for ridiculous reasons. Encourages students to visit during office hours but when I went to ask him for help he told me I shouldn't be in the class, even though I explained i am unable to drop it. Non-math people: AVOID
Do the homework and you will pass, there are no suprises.
Professor D holds his students to a higher standard. Old-fashioned and prone to tangents, he doesnt fuss with half points so be prepared to be thorough. Despite this, I can't recommend him enough. Looking to pass math simply to meet a requirement? Avoid at all costs. Going into STEM and need a solid base for Calculus 1+? Look no further.
If you want to LEARN math, you take him. If you are going into engineering or math, you take him. DO NOT take if youre expecting easy or being able to coast (even if youre good at math.). Doing it his way, as much as it sucks, 100% prepares you for upper level classes by being meticulous and thorough.
One of the worst professors I've ever had and the hardest class I've taken. He only cares about the students that are math majors or engineers so if you're not planning on being a math major, DO NOT take this class. He calls you out constantly and makes you feel small for not getting an answer right. He brags about himself too much.
Dietrich is very tough when it comes to grading. Forget a parentheses you lose points, dont write the CORRECT answer his way, lose more points. Tons of homework that doesnt prepare you for the test questions, no extra credit given, and lord forbid you dont do it his way! HE WILL THROW A TANTRUM ABOUT HOW IT IS HIS WAY OR FAIL ! Not personable!
Professor D is very tough, but it is extremely rewarding if you take him and excel in his class. Don't expect to skate by without much effort because you will easily fail. I didn't like him at FSCJ because of how tough he was, but now that I am taking other mathematics at the university level, I have a sincere appreciation for his teaching methods.
He thinks he knows everything. so he does not take the time to help. he fails you.
Attendance may not be mandatory but I strongly recommend you attend, a lot of the reviews on here are a bit harsh, he may be a tough grader but the work isn't difficult- homework is not for a grade, quizzes are about 1-5 questions max, he also is very easy to talk to if you need help. Just do the homework and attend the lectures and you'll pass
Professor D is an old school kinda guy. He can joke around but is serious about doing your work. Homework is optional but if you want to pass the tests, you need to do it. Quizzes are the same way except he drops the lowest 2. He can be a tough teacher, but he knows his stuff. If you have any questions about hw he always sees students in office hrs
This guy needs to retire. Never had difficulties in math until I took this buffoon. He goes on 20-30min rants about the most random subjects during class and has a tough time keeping track. If you learn anything by past professors forget them. Only one way to solve problems and that's his way, changes the methods in the book so don't bother opening
If you are interested in majoring in Mathematics or Engineering, I highly recommend Mr. Dietrich. He dedicates all class time to teaching the material, and the fact that homework isn't graded motivated me to practice the skill we were taught for my benefit. I wish I could take him for precalculus algebra this semester, but he isn't hosting a class
The homework was ungraded which made it hard for me to want to do it, but if you want to pass you have to. The tests were not super hard if you study, and the take home quizzes are great, especially because he drops two. I really liked his class, he was really funny, and obviously very passionate about teaching.
Dietrich is hands down the best professor I've ever had. He truely explains every concept and readily answers any questions. If you do the homework you will be more than prepared for the tests. I left his class actually understanding the material not just brain dumping on a test to get it over with. If you care at all about learning math take him.
Prof D is an amazing person and instructor. He will push you very hard to succeed. Yes, his class is tough but what he asks of us is straightforward and simple. Do your work and study! It's very easy to fall behind so stay on top of it. Will pay off in the end. Don't be fooled by the ungraded homework. No HW No Passing. Your choice.
Do homework and go to his office hour. You will be more prepared. There is no surprise. He is the best teacher I've ever taken at fscj. He truly explains the concept and always proves the theorems to help his students understand deeply. He will push the class hard. The tests are straightforward from the homework, lectures, and quizzes. Dedicated!!!
Professor D is an old-school, pencil-and-paper type of teacher, but he's so good. All his lessons are very thorough and precise. He doesn't review anything in class, but he'll go over stuff w/you in office hours. The homework isn't graded, but it is needed to pass. I learned so much, and he wrote me a rec letter, also. Overall, very good professor
I would NOT recommend him for non-math people, he is a very hard grader and although you could do all the correct steps and get the right answer, if it isn't written in the format he likes he will give you a 0. Do not take him, had to do stuff that other math professors think is outdated. He is very blunt, abrasive, and upfront. do not take him.
Doing homework, asking questions, and going to office hours are all you need to do. He will explain all your questions and confusion when you come to his office. Tests are easy. They won't be hard when you finish your homework. I prefer doing hw again to make sure I truly understand. Hw is more harder but its interesting. Come to class don't miss it
never again.
Prof. D is a very difficult teacher, but understands the Calc concepts completely. If you have a question, he was pretty much always available to answer it. Not doing the ungraded homework will be unforgiving in the long run. For tests, he gives points in small increments and will critique every bit of work provided for the problem. Good luck.
Professor D is old-school, but if you put in the work, his class is very doable. The homework isn't graded, but it's key for prepping for tests. Try Unstuckstudy along with the textbook - it really helped me ace this class!
Prof. Dietrich is a very personable professor with a great sense of humor. However, I had difficulty understanding the material, since he seemed to spend excessive time teaching unrelated mathematical concepts (i.e., normally covered in higher courses). He's super smart. However, I didn't feel he explained the content in an easy to understand way.
