Test material is somewhat ambiguous, all multiple choice. Accomodating, though.
hard to understand and very very very boring
Tends to be boring and rambles on, but nice guy.
G...Got Question on that?
Geee...ok

Does wierd thing with his lips and mouth, and says um k, any questions on that&
very thorough, explains things well, says mmm..k a lot though
He’s crazy as a loon, a decent guy, class can be boring, bring a book to read
Your first impression is right, he is a dork
He is very weird, and boring. The class is too difficult for a 202 level, and other professors dont teach the class as hard as he does
take good notes and study still get a B not bad if your only choice but keep looking if you want an A and have other classes that take up study time
hehehe...yes he is a dork and says gee ummm k alot...He mumbles too but explains the material thouroughly and is always willing to explain things. He gives excellent reviews for the exams. Not a hard professor if you take the time to understand the text.
I think it is way to hard for a 200 level class. He couldn't be more boring. He means well but his class sucks to be honest.
The guy talks to himself constantly, he mumbles and writes so sloppy is disgusting and by the ime you have figured out what he wrote he's erasing it already P.S. His Tests suck
Nice guy, but says ok A LOT! Willing to help outside of class, but confuses you even more. If you want to kill your gpa, I recommend taking his class.
Vey confusing dosnt give explanations you can understand, impossible to adequtly prepare for quizes and exams! Wouldnt recommend this class
Holy cow he says Ok or gee Ok or just K a lot!! My friend and I Tallied it one day during an hour class him say 1 or all of the 3 variations a total of a 179 times. Amazing. That's all I can say
Gives you stupid quizzes. Chuckles all the time, weird guy. Quizzes and exams aren't easy.
Can we say a mixture of mr. GArason form south park MMMMM KAYYYY!!! (HE says it 120 in a 1 45min class) and Kevin Spacey. HE sucks!!! I failed.
I commuted and spent more time sleeping in my car than going to class. It was just unbearable to sit through his lectures, mmkay!
definately uses MMKAY too much, gives a Zoolander look everytime he asks a question (Blue Steel - i believe) and his questions on his exams and quizzes are VERY VERY wordy, seems like there could be 2 or 3 answers to each... FIND A DIFF PROFESSOR!!!!
Good teacher with excellent reviews, didn't score below a 90% on any exam.
Easier for an econ class, tests are tough, but you get a pretty good study guide and you can miss class if you need too. I get b's on his exams, but his MC can be kinda tricky. as long as you study youll be fine. Oh yeah, hes the guy that got his milk money stolen every day when he was a kid
The guy is very wordy yet says ok all the time. I liked the class, learned a good amount, and got a good grade.
Not very organized. Messy notes all over board. Not very helpful. Not the worst in the world though.
Dude is boring as hell and follows the book exactly. Read it and you'll never have to go to class
Doesn't give his own examples. Teaches straight from the book. Horrible.
Every Econ 202 professor is hard. He is no exception, however he does grade on a curve. The curve doesn't help much, but at least it's something. It is hard to understand him and also to read his writing. All that I can say is good luck with ECO 202 in general,it sucks no matter who you take it with.
Dr. Falls is a great professor. His lectures are perfectly clear; no need to open the textbook. He provides decent study guides. The tests are difficult because there's a lot of material. With some prodding, he will give you clues as to what the essay questions will be. I would take him again.
He's kinda a goof. (in a bad way). I didn't like him - really boring. Teaches straight out of the book. You only need to go to class if there is something in the book that you don't understand...and he still won't do a good job answering the question. Pretty easy class, though.
He's the worst teacher I've had... Ever. He teaches from the book and doesn't give clear examples. Good luck reading his hand writing, it looks like 5 year old with a nurve problem wrote it.
He's a really nice guy, but unfortunately his lectures will leave even the most invigorated student reaching for their pillow. You'll probably learn everything from the text, as it's legible. The grading breaks down to 40% from 4 homework assignments and 60% from 3 tests. There's certainly far worse professors, but avoid him if possible.
Lectures BORING, everything on the exams is in the book.
he studders some days really bad and its hard to understand him but in ECO 202 we used APLIA and if you do all that you get so much extra credit. exams and quizzes are so so i got like b's on all of them ALL IN THE BOOK
Extremely hard to follow. Gave chance for EC.
Write down all of his notes, that is basically what the exam is. Class may be boring, but his exams are easy if you look over his review sheet. I liked the class :)
Nice guy & teaching style is effective. I rewrote his inclass notes and I would study them 2-3 hours before the exams and got A's. Be mentally engaged during classes by answering his questions. If you put in the effort and it will pay off.
Falls is a great professor. He's very clear and thorough when he teaches and is always willing to explain things if you need help. If you pay attention in class and study a little you'll do great.
Do not take this guy! He can make the easiest subjects seem so difficult because he cannot talk. He stutters and talks about Hannah Montana like everyday. You also have to pay $70 for a stupid online homework website named aplia. He's definitely one of the worst teachers ever.
OMG the worst professor i have ever had! He cannot speak! he mumbles and studders and you cannot understand him at all. I somewhat liked economics until i took him. Right now i am getting a c- and it is brining down my entire grade point. His tests and stupid online assignments are impossible! AVOID HIM! and listen for hoe many times he says gee
He says "gee" a lot, but I like it. I don't understand these people who say he mumbles, I sat in the back and goofed off the whole time and I still heard mostly everything. Show up to class, pay close attention to him and the notes, and you'll never need the book. Aplia is really stupid, however, it offered 50 points extra credit, which is amazing.
Falls isn't bad. He might mumble a bit but other than that, the class is fine. I would agree that some of the aplia assignments were tough but he will help you if you can't figure them out. Go to class, and review the old tests and quizes he puts on blackboard and you'll do fine.
The exams were tough but he definitely knows his stuff, if you go to class, take notes, and read the book, you'll do fine.
A very sweet man, but not the best teacher in the world when your clueless about economics. I fyou have some knowledge, you will probably be fine, if you hate economics, dont take him. You cant understand him, tests are beyond hard, and a tutor is necesarry. He doesnt really curve either..so dont look forward to that.
I don't agree with people on here really at all. He does mumble at times, but his homework is basically the exam so exams are easy if you do the homework. Always lets you out early which is nice, and when you look back you learn more than you realize, definitely recommend
Terrible professor. Gives three exams and four quizzes, and everyone fails. I got a C+ only because there is a huge curve at the end so dont give up. You dont really have to go to class because everything is straight out of the book, even his examples. Hes a nice man, but very boring and exams are extremely difficult. Try to switch out if possible.
He is great! As long as you take notes and go to class you will pass with and A or a B. His exams are kind of hard but he curves them. He also gives you an extra credit quiz at the end of the semester and that will boost your grade! Great professor, will definitely help you if you are struggling
He says GEE and mumbles a lot and also writes and then erases things a lot on the board which can get annoying..but other than that he is just willing to help you out to get a good grade. posts old quizzes and exams on blackboard and has exam reviews up from the very beginning. manage your time and youll do fine and study from old quizzes and exams
This is my senior year at CMU and by far this professor is the hardest professor I have ever had. I would not recommend taking him unless you have no other option. Hard to understand, very sloppy hand writing, and impossible tests. Save yourself the bad grade :).
I am an A student and I have never struggled so much in a class. He mumbles and talks too fast. The tests and quizzes are extremly difficult, no matter how much effort and studying you put into them. I wouldn't suggest taking this class with him!
Hard to understand, but it will come to you after a week, says "Gee Okay" a lot, Exams have a few essays, just go over the study guide he provides and its fine, NO HOMEWORK
You don't really need the book for this class. Four exams, no homework. Mumbles in class and has a lot of verbal tics, and his notes are scatterbrained, but if you go through the review sheet, the exams will be very easy.
Dont buy the book. Four exams. No homework. Write down what he puts on the board and you pretty much have the exam outline.
He is a funny prof to have, his little side jokes usually aren't that funny but he thinks they are. Allows 2 unexcused absences but I highly suggest that you show up to all classes, his notes in class are all the important parts from the each chapter. As long as you study for the quizzes and exams, they are pretty fair. Buy the book and read it.
This is by far the worst teacher I have ever had. Nothing he says is understandable and he teaches from the book. Unless you have a photographic memory: don't take his class. He is a very critical grader and will give you very few points for your work if its not 100%
Nice guy with good intentions, although this is my most difficult college course yet. He is very hard to understand, mumbles and adds "gee" into every sentence where it doesn't make sense. Handwriting is horrible, and exams are extremely difficult. Hate to say it because he is so nice, but avoid at all costs if you want a good grade.
Really nice guy but this class is impossible if you are new to economics like i was. His exams are extremely hard the class average on every test or quiz was below a C-. If you bomb one quiz your grade is SCREWED. Avoid unless you have taken an econ class before.
He teaches everything he tests on very well, and does a good job of explaining important concepts. However, tests are very broad and difficult. He gives study guides for all tests at the beginning of the semester. Take them with you to class and use them to study. Low test averages are normal, but he curves at the end of the semester.
Dr. Falls is a nice person, however does not meet expectations as a professor. 370 is arguably one of the hardest classes that CMU offers, but his teaching didn't make it any easier. He expects students to understand concepts the first time they're taught, which makes future lectures even more difficult and useless.
He is a nice guy, but does not make sense a whole lot. His hand writing is awful. You have to sit in the front to see what he writes. Tests are really hard even though it is multiple choice. Unless you know some economics prior I would not recommend taking him.
This class is very difficult if you do not have prior knowledge in Econ. His lectures are hard to understand, even when he uses examples. I learned a lot from reading through the book after class to barely comprehend the lesson. Study guides are given to cover broad topics but Exams have specific questions. You have to study hard to pass the class
His lectures covered everything. Nobody ever asked questions or said they didn't understand the material, so he assumed we understood everything and kept moving on. Was always very willing to explain in greater detail. Exams and quizzes are hard, but fair. Don't miss class since he gives attendance points. Nice man & very knowledgeable.
He was an incredibly nice guy and I feel bad giving him such a bad grade. He was incredibly boring and his lectures were so long. He found a way to make the most simple things complicated. Tests and quizes are a little hard but nothing terrible. Overall, I would not reccomend taking him.
He gives extra credit for coming to class, otherwise I would not have attended as much as I did. He reads right off of his PowerPoint, and is very difficult to understand because he mumbles. He did answer questions if students asked. Be prepared to study a lot unless you have a lot of prior econ knowledge. I would avoid his classes if possible.
I would never ever recommend this professor. He is confusing and never clear on what the concept actually is. All he says is "gee, mkay". Lectures are hard to follow and very fast pace.
Easy class if you show up and study the power point slides that he gives you. You always know what to expect on quizzes and tests. Gives good real life examples for things learned in class. Knows what he is talking about and I would definitely take another economics class with him.
Professor Falls is a very nice man. He's a bit hard to understand at times, but when you understand him the subject matter is pretty clear. Just beware that you need to show up to class and read all the textbook chapters he covers or you won't pass
This is the worst professor I have ever seen. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS
He's very monotone and doesn't have exciting lectures. No homework, but tests are tough. Gives 40 points extra credit for attendance, with two free skips. Would definitely recommend taking another professor.
He gives out 30 points of extra credit as long as you don't miss more than two classes. He also gives you all the old quizzes and tests so you can practice before the exam. The exam and quiz average scores are pretty low, but with the exam credit and his grading scale its not that hard to get an A.
Professor Falls isn't spectacular/outgoing, however, he is not a bad professor. As long as you study the material and create an economical perspective, you'll do just fine. Grading is pretty simple, no homework except for group projects and two weekly quizzes. The only downfall is his lack of communication (non-responsive to emails).
do NOT take this professor. This was one of my worst class experiences. He rushed through every single PowerPoint and just read off the slides. He doesn't really teach you much. The only good part about the class is 30 extra credit points from attendance. Exams and quizzes are so difficult and most of the class averages on stuff was below failing.
He goes through the material way too quickly and only uses about 30 minutes of the hour and 15 minute long class we are PAYING for. He gives extra credit opportunities, however there is never any homework or practice assignments so the only way to learn the material is through tests and studying. Average class test scores are always below failing.
There is no homework just quizzes and tests. Lots of extra credit opportunities during classes. Though the class may seem hard with all of the extra credit you can pass with a decent score. Professor can be dull sometimes but the class never lasts more than 35 minutes and always let us out early.
Do not take a class with this guy unless you can think critically. The class itself has no homework which means your grade is based on only tests and quizzes. These quizzes and tests are very hard because the are a level above the material he covers in class. The average for the exams were 59, 55, and he never released the average for the final.
He gives very hard tests. The average in the class was a 60% for all the tests and quizzes. He does give a lot of extra credit though and curves the class so I ended up with a fairly good grade.
Only grades are tests and quizzes... no curves
he says g all the time and has doesn't actually teach. He reads off of the slides way too much and doesn't elaborate on anything. Also, not helpful when you ask questions.
not a good teacher
doesn't let you ask questions and he is a very distracting teacher.
Although Professor Falls does give out a lot of extra credit, it is not enough to cover the 60% averages on each test. His tests are nothing like the practice he gives us so if you don't know every single little thing taught in the class, you will fail. He doesn't answer emails either.
Terrible professor, cannot teach. Zero homework, only absurdly difficult tests and quizzes. Do not take!
Terrible professor that is sometimes incomprehensible. He gives no time to answer questions, only reads off of slides from who knows how long ago, no attempts are given to give a genuine understanding of the criteria of the class. gives a quiz, gives you a piece of paper back saying how many you got right and wrong, but doesn't say which questions
Lectures are boring- he reads directly off of slides and mumbles his words. Don't get me started on his use of the word 'Gee". Course has total of 400 points. Solely quizzes and tests make up your grade. No homework, no hands-on activities makes it difficult to understand material. Had to be my own teacher the majority of the semester.
No hw. Only quizzes and tests which he just puts through a scantron cause they are multiple choice. PowerPoints are just reused, so basically he has nothing to grade/do. Averages on quizzes and tests were nev over a 65% which in my opinion is embarrassing. Nev responds to emails and when he does, he is very rude. Try and avoid which may be hard.
While Professor Falls is a very nice person, I would not take this class again with him. We have no homework, so our grade is just based on quizzes and exams, which is horrible considering that the class would not average above 60% on both quizzes and exams. No homework or projects to practice the material on either.
Only grades are quizzes and exams. Most of the material tested is not presented in lectures. Will very often be let out of class early, but you'll need to spend time outside of class to learn the material from the textbook rather than the PowerPoints. Very helpful if you seek out extra help, but baseline lessons are not good enough for the material
Mr. Falls is a very nice man but not the best teacher. Only materials are vague slides and he just gives quizzes and exams. It is very hard to prepare for those assessments. Exam/quiz questions are deeply theoretical and hard to answer from what we get from class.
Do not take Professor Falls unless you already know everything about microeconomics. All he does is read off of the screen and by read I mean mumble quietly to himself. He is a terrible teacher and if you ask a question he responds using examples that make you even more confused. Avoid!!
Mumbles to himself, few quizes, and only lectures.
