Chemistry sure isn't easy but Dr. Neyhart makes it much more clear!

Makes a hard class seem easy, Although you learn the same material as the other classes.
great teacher! very clear and helpful, animated, let me make up a missed test
Summer session not interesting at all. Flew through it and didn't help at all.
i swear to god, does no one else see it?! this guy could seriously be Bill Ney the Science guy. it just fits =P
he is an awesome teacher, he teaches at a good pace, and is clear on what he is talkign about.
VERY CLEAR...you will understand chemistry if you show up to his class and take good notes. Very animated and enertaining, an excellent teacher. An easy B- and a very capable A.
Best chemistry teacher at NCSU. Posts study guides of every class on the course website and answer keys to all forms of the exams. Study the webassigns and the study guides, and there's no way you can get less than a B+, especially with his curve. Highly recommended.
GREAT TEACHER! puts up study guides for EVERY lecture, has visual demonstrations to further explain and is open to any questions. his questions are JUST like the study guide questions so if you do them you'll do great on tests. and the best part is that his final is previous test questions combined! never springs new stuff on you! def. get an A!!!
Good teacher but almost seems to dumb down the material. we didnt go as indepth as the other classes so i feel like i might be in trouble come chem 201, but if you only have to take one year of chem, great teacher.
Is such a great teacher and a really nice guy. I am a chemistry major and I learded a lot in his class. He is flexable and very respectful.
Great teacher, clear, precise, good for chem and none chem majors. He goes over lots of concepts rather than formulas, so it is an easy B very possible A. His tests are a little harder than those of other classes, but it is worth it to get his class. Take his class if you can.
Neyhart is an excellent teacher - very enthusiastic about teaching, always prepared for his lectures, and always willing to help a student out. If you're lookin for a good chem teacher, this is your man.
Very smooth lectures, great teaching style, and very helpful to those with questions outside of class.
Absolutely horrid for CH 201. Lectures do not reflect the homework or tests. Lecture practice problems could be solved by a 10-yr-old, but hw and tests are harder. Sometimes fails to mention key concepts and necessary formulae. Appears to be a bumbling idiot outside of class. My advice: avoid his CH 201 class at all costs.
he is very helpful and he is so compassionate about teaching chemistry and really wants every student to learn. the webassigns can bring up your grade alot if you do not do well on tests. he curves the final grade.
Neyhart is the man. If you want Bill Nye for chemistry you must take Dr. Neyhart! Chemistry is extremely difficult, and his classes are by no means easy... but he is such a cool professor it's worth it. I took him for chem 101 and 201 and I wish he was teaching more classes. Great professor
I retook chem with Neyhart and I have to say he is ten million times better than the other professor i took and the other ones i have heard about. He has a huge curve on the final grade which makes a big difference coming from my other professor that gave no curve at all. The only minus is that he talks very slow at times and can be annoying.
Terrible!the people who say that he is easy and better are saying this because they are retaking ch 101! he doesn't explain anything in class. every time i walked into class, he was teaching something else. the Homeworks were on something else as well. yes his test is easy but his final is not! you will learn alot on your own! his curves are good!
Really nice professor who will listen and answer every question - very patient!
DR. NEYHART IS THE BEST CHEMISTRY TEACHER YOU WILL EVER HAVE.. HE IS THE MAN AND HAS THE FUNNIEST DEMONSTRATIONS IN CLASS, IS HELPFUL OUTSIDE OF CLASS, AND CURVES THE TESTS EXTREMELY FAIR.
Possibly the best teacher I could have asked for for chemistry! He is really entertaining and keeps your interest. IT IS A HARD CLASS. YOU HAVE TO STUDY! But if you take notes and get help when needed, you'll be fine! Neyhart makes it much easier to understand and his tests are relatively easy compared to most chemistry courses.
he's a pretty cool guy. his tests may seem hard but he curves the final so much that its near impossible to fail his class. he's also very thorough in his work and explains everything very well. if you study the study guides he provides and do the webassigns. you're sure to pass.
Neyhart is an excellent professor. Before I experienced college, people told me that college professors were intimidating; Neyhart is not intimidating at all. If you pay attention in class, the WebAssigns are easy. If you study the WebAssigns, you're guaranteed to get an A. Definitely take Neyhart!
He reminds me of Mr. Rogers except less dead. He loves his subject and wants to help students understand concepts. Tests are reasonable but you need to pay attention, do the homework and study. Professor is very approachable.
Good teacher, kept the subject interesting while trying to maintain an easy learning environment. While the course is somewhat difficult, Dr. Neyhart does his best to help the students to maximize their potential. Fairly simple class and he doesn't take attendance so take him if you want to learn, it might be challenging but worth it.
Neyhart is awesome! Explains material thoroughly and answers any questions, even in a class of 200+. Makes chem easy to understand and interesting to learn.
CH101 is a hard class, but Dr. Neyhart explains it really well. Plus, the curves on the tests really help. Currently I have an A... hopefully the final keeps it that way.
Fantastic professor. Very helpful. Makes Chemistry bearable and understandable. If you are taking CH 101 at State; take Neyhart.
Came into his class with a hatred of chemistry... needless to say, Neyhart changed this. He explained everything with perfect clarity and had amazing overhead notes. Examples and Webassign questions were very relevant, yet challenging and thought provoking. Tests could be tricky if you didn't know your stuff. Made an A+ in the class, and easily.
Definitely not an easy class. Dr. Neyhart knows his stuff but it was hard to keep up with him at times. He goes throw the information quickly but does provide colorful notes. His tests were a bit hard and the final wasn't much better. Overall, good teacher but you definitely need to pay attention and do the WebAssigns in order to do well.
Not an easy class, but he did a great job at teaching it. Takes his time going over material and explains everything. Does examples with the class then lets you try them on your own before he explains them. Only 3 tests but he provides study guides that are very helpful.
My favorite college professor so far! Very helpful, and easy A. I recommend him!
This class was not easy and it was not hard. He did a great job of being enthusiastic about the topic and keeping people's attention in class. He taught the material well and gave example problems during class. This class requires you to be on top of your game and that will determine the grade you come out with. I would recommend.
Awesome guy. Will help you in anyway he can.
Best teacher at State! Notes are awesome and well organized, never strays off topic. Tests are of medium difficulty but if you study you should be fine. Compared to all of my other friends in other CH101 classes, Neyhart seems to be the best teacher for chem 1.
Chemistry is difficult, especially when the school requires too much be taught in one semester, but Dr Neyhart works hard to help the class understand. He is pleasant, cheerful, and enthusiastic about the subject which makes the course more enjoyable. Use the study guides on Webassign, they help!!
If you take notes and attend 90% of his classes, you'll make a B or up. I didn't take notes, missed a couple classes, and only studied for the exams and ended up with a C. A good student will get an A in his class because he is a fantastic teacher.
Neyhart provides excellent study guides and in-class notes which make his expectations for exams crystal clear. He moves quickly in lectures, so I had to spend more time out of class relearning material, but at the same time, he's incredibly fair (the webassigns brought my grade up a lot). If you work hard, you should get an A.
Neyhart is such a nice person, and he is amazing at explaining material. Notes are easy to follow, the course is very organized, and the class examples are relevant to the WebAssign work (lowest 6 dropped!). He provides study guides which help with the exams (which aren't too too bad) and does curve your grade which helps. Best pr
Neyhart is a great teacher. His notes are organized and easy to follow. He's so good at explaining the concepts, even the complicated ones. He has a quirky personality and I actually looked forward to going to the class, he made it very easy to pay attention. Take his class if you can!! He's an excellent teacher.
If you go to class, take notes (which he already has written on the overhead), and study the Web-Assign homeworks... you'll easily do well.
Does a lot of experiments in front of the class to keep the excitement up. If yo pay attention in lecture and the webassign you will do well.
Neyhart is an excellent professor. He explains everything in a way that is easy to understand.
Great guy, great teacher, a lot of assignments just keep up.
Neyhart is an amazing guy and extraordinary teacher. His tests are challenging, but his notes and study guides will prepare you. He's extremely efficient, organized, and approachable. Much better than the other 101 professors.
To do well in this class you MUST do all the webassigns (even though he drops 6) and go to all of your recitations. Including the chem lab webassigns there are about 9 a week. I got a D+ and am now having to retake chemistry over the summer. His tests during the semester aren't too bad but the final is HORRIFIC.
Neyhart is a great professor, but the class is mind blowingly difficult. Out of the 200 or so people in his class per semester, half of the people get low grades.See the exams increase drastically in difficulty and if you fall behind on the material you are screwed.I recommend this professor to all the people who have a strong chemistry background.
Dr. Neyhart is an amazing professor. He makes himself available for help if you need it. Don't skip class and go to a few SI sessions you should do very well. Chemistry is a hard class, but if you take it seriously you should do fine.
He was fun and enthusiastic but the subject was difficult. You have to stay on top of things because it only gets harder as the year progressive. If you can get a hold of old tests you will have an advantage over others. In general you will be fine if you follow along
He is a great professor! He really knows his stuff, explains the content well and is interested in helping his students.
Dr. Neyhart is probably the coolest teacher you will have at NC State. He tries to make everything interesting and includes tons of demonstrations. The WebAssigns aren't ridiculously hard but they will help you learn the material. Tests are not bad either if you just study. CH 101 is supposed to be challenging and he makes it a great class.
Dr. Neyhart is a remarkable professor. Somehow, he is able to captivate the 200+ student lecture with the world of Chemistry and his Bill Nye-like nature. I highly recommend him for this course.
I have only been at State for 1 semester, but he is the best professor that I have had so far. The way he teaches the class is easy to understand and the Webassigns are not hard and are short. I hope I can be in another one of his classes.
Outstanding professor and person. Lectures are crystal clear, easily reviewable for the homework and tests, neither of which are unreasonably hard nor tricky. We had a sub for one day and it might as well have been a completely different subject. The only con I could imagine from this class is that I may never have another one like this again.
Neyhart is a really great teacher. He is always enthusiastic and ready to teach. Don't get behind, the course flows off of past material. The webassigns are easy, the tests are hard, and the final is HELL.
Awesome professor! He is a bit dorky, but in a good way. Extremely helpful and explains things well. I slacked a bit and never really studied until the night before, but came out with a B+. Tests aren't too bad and he curves your grade at the end. Just pay attention, do Webassign, and you're set :)
He is a good teacher, but he isn't easy as most people say. I found this class to be rather hard because of Neyhart, but he is a good teacher when it comes to making sure you understand the concepts.
I had Chemistry in HS and hated it and so I was worried about 101 for college. But Neyhart gives a great foundation and teaches everything you need to know in class. If he teaches it in class it will be on the test no curve balls just dont miss class, do the study guides he gives on his website and youre good for the test.Best you can get for CH101
One of the BEST professors I've ever had. He was funny, engaging, & crystal clear. He reminded me of Bill Nye the science guy/Mr. Rogers :) His tests are tricky but if you really go over the study guides he posts for each class and take good notes in class and you'll do well. Class isn't mandatory but it's the difference between a C and an A.
Professor Neyhart is extremely helpful. I did not understand a thing about chemistry before taking his class. His lectures are extremely easy to follow and his grading is fair. His test are part multiple choice and part short answer but they're fairly simple if you review the homework.
CH 101 is the class that weeds out the weak from the strong. This course will be very difficult no matter what professor you take. That being said, Professor Neyhart is probably the best chemistry professor at NCSU. Take him if you can.
His online material and explanations were fantastic! I could understand everything I needed to know just from studying the online material he prepared.
Awesome, enthusiastic teacher. Very clear and structured notes. Do the review guides and tests will be pretty easy. Tests are half mult. choice, half short answer, etc. Attendance not required, but is taken. Clicker questions are helpful. He was extremely helpful everytime I went to him. He got a standing ovation the last day of class. Take him!
After struggling through and ultimately dropping CH101 on my first try, I was encouraged to take Dr. Neyhart's class. It is not easy-you have to learn the material, but Dr. Neyhart is funny, clear, concise, and has a unique ability to explain things simply yet completely. I LOVE YOU DOCTOR NEYHART
Dr. Neyhart is an adorable little man lol. The best chem professor for 101 hands down. His teaching style is very affective and his real-world examples put everything into perspective. Don't take anyone else! Plus he's super sweet!
His tests are way harder then what he makes you think. His notes are vague and not helpful at all when studying.
I love Neyhart! He is very passionate about chemistry and always willing to help you understand better. His tests are VERY hard, especially compared to the Webassign assignments. Although I didn't do too hot in this class (my fault), if I have to retake it, I'm definitely taking him again!
Dr. Neyhart is the best Chem 101 teacher at State. Period. His tests can be tricky but you walk out of class knowing that you learned something (which is probably useful for future Chem courses). Webassigns are easy and you don't have any quizzes or graded clicker questions!
I received a C in my high school chemistry class and was terrified to take it in college. Neyhart's lectures were not only easy to follow but very interesting! If you pay attention and take notes you will do fine. Keep up and don't skip this class. He gives study guides before every test and offers SI sessions. Super helpful and friendly.
Dr. Neyhart is probably the best teacher for CH 101. He is very clear and explains the material well. His homework is easy, and gives useful online material to read. Definitely a good professor to take.
Dr. Neyhart is so passionate about chemistry that he can get almost anyone excited about it. Take him if you get the chance!
He is a great professor. Has a very good sense of humour too.
Dr. Neyhart has got the lectures down well, but they can still seem pretty long and drawn-out due to the subject matter. Great professor, but the tests and final were all a bit more difficult than they needed to be, and gave me a lot of stress for an intro class that won't pertain to my major at all (required for general engineering).
He is a great teacher who makes the material very clear. I would recommend anyone to take his course!
He is good at what he teaches. He reminds me of Bill Nye, The Science Guy (If Bill Nye was a teacher). Be prepared to study a lot, as the test are not easy. Best of luck!
That curve was amazing. I failed several tests and still did fine. I'm a CHASS major and so science is not my strong suit. I wouldn't recommend taking anybody but Neyhart for this class.
Great teacher. Makes efforts to keep class engaged and enjoyable.
He has good analogies and makes it easy to conceptually understand chemistry. The homework consists of easy webassigns, but do not expect the test to be like the webassigns. Tests are not so bad if you study his study guides.
Neyhart is a great professor. He breaks the concepts down in a really clear way and doesn't over complicate things. His class is very fair, if you put the effort in you will do well.
Dr. Neyhart is easily the best chem prof for 101. He is so nice, helpful, and knowledgable. His tests are super fair also.
He provides great resources for you to pass like pre-class notes and post-class notes. I took the flipped style which was so helpful except be ready to teach yourself to be able to do the homework. Tests are easy if you study but if you don't put in the work you will fail.
Very friendly, approachable, and engaging. He makes a very large class feel small, has very readable moodle pages and effective study guides. Tests are not easy, but only cover material clearly laid out beforehand. If I could adopt him as my grandpa, 10/10 would
I loved Dr. Neyhart. His class wasn't the easiest, but I actually learned the material & am able to use it in other classes. The homework isn't bad & helps prepare you for the lecture & it's easy to do if you read the bit that is assigned. Curved test grades based off of class average, which was nice. He's also an adorable person and very helpful.
Neyhart is definitely the best CH 101 teacher. He uses the flipped method so you learn the material before you go to class so the lecture makes more sense. He has pre-class and after class readings/study guides. I stopped going to class in October because I learn better on my own but I probably could have gotten an A instead of a B+ if I went.
Neyhart is a cool guy and best chance at an A in chemistry. He gives pre-class reading, but if you take the time it is pretty understandable and he will clear things up in class. He gives a TON of study guides online--review for tests and you will do well. Unlike other chem professors, he gives straight forward tests but DO NOT underestimate them!
Neyhart is a great teacher. I came in literally knowing no chemistry and was super worried about the class. However, lectures were informational and Neyhart's enthusiasm about the subject helped to make this my favorite class of the semester. I would definitely recommend it, but don't underestimate the tests. Use the material Newhart provides.
I remember classes where he could make the whole class burst into laughter and some classes where I was trying to stay awake. Tests are very tough but fair- he tells you what you can expect. Overall a good professor, very approachable.
Very good teacher, chem's not my thing but he made it clear.
Great professor! Very passionate about the subject, but you have to work for a good grade. I recommend using Moodle for studying, the textbook has a lot of unnecessary information. Get ready for lots of corny (in a cute way) jokes.
Neyhart is a great professor. His notes are organized and clear, he breaks up lecture with demonstrations, and makes sure to answer any questions, even in the big lecture hall. There are webassigns due before every class which aren't bad if you follow the readings but you definitely have to study for the exams.
Literally the sweetest human being alive. He is very passionate about Chemistry and offers more than enough resources to help you truly learn the material. Really great guy and professor!
I was scared to take CHEM before this class but Neyhart made me like Chem so I will be continuing on with it in the upcoming semesters. He is an amazing teacher and I highly recommend him for CH101.
Neyhart is one of the best professors I've had. He is very good at explaining difficult concepts, he uses interactive clicker questions to see where students need help, and he looks kind of like Bill Nye. Tests 1&2 are easy but 3&4 get more difficult so don't sleep on those. Finishes every Friday class with "Go call your mother, she misses you."
Dr. Neyhart is by far the best chemistry professor you could possibly hope to have for CH101. The subject material is hard and there is a pre class assignment due before every class so you have to read a lot, but he definitely teaches you the material and gives you all the resources you need to do well. Not an easy A, but the best option. Take him!
Don't take his class if you want test questions that make sense. He writes questions that are extremely confusing (not based of class notes) and his in-class notes do not make any sense. I leave class confused about information I understood before it.
Don't take his class if you want test questions that make sense. He writes questions that are extremely confusing (not based of class notes) and his in-class notes do not make any sense. I leave class confused about information I understood before it. Chemistry has always been one of my strongest subjects.
He teaches at a steady pace and makes everything quite clear in class. If you don't understand something from the lecture you can read the book which is online and get a basic understanding of what you need to know. The tests are not very hard but they count for a good bit.
Dr. Neyhart is, by far, the best science professor I've ever had. His lectures are interesting, funny, engaging and has students assist with in-class experiments. If you are having trouble, go to him, he will help. He really does care. Chemistry is hard but Dr. Neyhart makes it so much easier to understand. Wish I could take more classes with him!
I love Neyhart, he reminds me of Bill Nye the science guy. You have webassigns and reading before every lecture but they don't take you very long. His tests are very fair and lecture attendance is not mandatory.
Neyhart is the bomb! He is the nicest guy and even if you fail the class, you will still love him as a person and professor. I almost failed 2 exams and still got an A in the class.
Dr. Neyhart is a great chemistry professor. His lectures are helpful and entertaining, and you'll learn the information well if you go to class and put in the work. Inside and outside of class, he's super sweet; reminds me of Mr. Rogers...
Neyhart is probably my favorite chemistry teacher of all time. 10/10 would take again.
While Neyhart is good at teaching the subject, he doesn't care much about the success of his students. The class average on most tests was at or below a 70, and he gave only one relatively minor curve throughout the course. He absolutely refuses to round grades even for students who have demonstrated excellence in the past. Take another teacher.
Neyhart is one of the better CH101 professors at State. His lectures are great but his office hours make you nervous. You definitely have to work for your grade. It's tough, but he will give you everything you need to succeed.
Take Gregory Neyhart! His course flow is very coherent and helpful, and his tests are relevant. Plus, his demonstrations are awesome. His class is flipped, meaning homework and reading comes before lectures, if that's something you're into... He's like Mr. Rogers, except he teaches university chemistry really well.
Dr. Neyhart is a great professor and his lectures are very interesting. With this being said, don't rely exclusively on the lectures to learn the material. You need more detail than what he provides in class to get an A on the exams .
The man is amazing! He's hilarious and makes class more interesting so you won't fall asleep. He's a pun master and really good at what he does, which is teach chemistry. I came in already understanding most of the material, but if you're someone who doesn't have a good understanding of chemistry, this is your professor.
Neyhart is the best chem professor at NCSU. Do not take chem 101 unless it is with him. He will make you work for the A, but you will get to really understand the material and appreciate it. I hated chem going in and I left liking it a lot. READ THE PRECLASS READINGS. Your grade on your tests accurately represent the time you put in studying.
Overall a good professor. Definitely recommend.
Took him for CH101, and he's the best professor I've ever had. Hilarious, smart, willing to do what he can to make sure every single one of his students gets as good a grade as possible; really just a great professor. He's like Mr. Rogers meets Bill Nye meets your cool uncle.
Put him on the hot scale because he's sort of an off-brand Bill Nye. His tests are online on Koofers but expect different numbers for the questions. His tests are hard but fair. BEWARE OF TEST #4. Overall the best chem teacher at NCSU and I suck at chem but he made it fine.
Probably the best prof for 101, but still terrible. Pretty sure we don't have a good chem101 prof at this whole school. Test 4 absolutely killed my grade. Just go into this class knowing its going to be hard/lots of work and you'll do okay.
I took this class with 0 experience in chemistry. For the first two tests I put in 0 work and got D-'s on both, but the last two I put in effort and although I did not do good I got a B- in the course, so it's not IMPOSSIBLE. Sign up for coursehero for HW/Lab answers, and show up to recitation. These work wonders on your grade. Get a tutor too.
I could not say enough words about him. he is such a great person and explains the material well. go to class and write the notes he put up in the projector, they help a whole lot. He curves so it really bumps up your grade.
Students from other chem classes come to Neyhart's lectures to learn (even though attendance at their own is also mandatory)
This man is my savior aka the chemistry god
NCSU's version of Bill Nye, what a comical and chemical genius.
Dr. Neyhart is a gem. He is passionate about what he teaches and wants to see every student succeed. His tests are challenging but if you review the study guides in the readings on Moodle you shouldn't have much of a problem. Test 3 and 4 aren't the easiest. He does curve grades at the end of the semester. Wish he wasn't retiring!
Dr. Neyhart is a great professor and will explain the material well. He is very interesting and reminds me of Bill Nye. His tests are very difficult and make up almost all of the course grade, but old tests can be found on Koofers and they are very helpful. Although I struggled through chemistry, I would rather have it with Neyhart than anyone else
Neyhart is amazinggggg. His demeanor, ability to explain materials, his passion for his students. Everything about him is amazing. I LOVE THIS MAN SO MUCH! STATE BETTER HOLD ONTO HIM! Yes, his tests are difficult but if you put in the work you WILL be fine. TIP: TESTS ON KOOFERS and CLASS NOTES are in the studystream on a blog. NEYHART IS AWESOM
Dr. Neyhart's lectures are awesome - he does hands-on demonstrations that makes things seem so simple. I took CH103 and it was TOUGH. Don't skip! I missed the first 10 min of class one day and had trouble catching up. My average for each test was above the class avg. and my highest test score was 82, lowest was 66.
Gregory Neyhart is the best. He presents the material in a clear, logical format and gives students mulitple opportunities to test their understanding through in class participation. Exams are straight forward and easy to prepare for (koofers). I recommend sitting close to the front as he has a soft voice and is much too sweet to raise it.
Phenomenal teacher overall. Explains chemical concepts with clarity, and mixes in some mild humor to keep things interesting. Best chemistry teacher at State, without a doubt.
He looks like Bill Nye so I called him Greg Neyhart the Science Guyhart. He's pretty cool.
Dr. Neyhart is just about the best introductory chemistry professor anyone could ask for. He's an excellent lecturer, takes pains to answer students' questions as helpfully as possible, and often does fun demonstration in class. His tests can be somewhat difficult but are certainly nothing GPA-endangering. Overall the best professor I've had here.
Best chem professor we have at NCSU. On Halloween, he had a specially decorated slideshow, perfect!
Imagine watching an interesting TED talk on Chemistry. That's Dr. Neyhart. Some of the best lectures you will hear in college. Informative, logical, and personable. Organized, intelligent professor who makes for a very refined class overall. Very clear policies and schedule outlined in the syllabus.
Neyhart is about as good of a lecturer you're gonna find. Tests are a bit tough but its chemistry so that is expected. Great guy.
Great guy! Love being in his class every day, and he's also super hilarious and makes chemistry very easy to understand for us regular people. Would take him again 100%.
Professor Neyhart made chemistry relatively easy through metaphors, lots of examples, and simplified language. He keeps your attention throughout the lecture and thoroughly answers any questions. His tests are very fair, and if you study you will do well!
An excellent professor, explains the material clearly, is passionate about the subject, and makes sure there are plenty of assignments to offset the weight of tests. Although class was boring sometimes and not mandatory, he still made it interesting.
Really great at teaching the material. It is important to review the material and read the Pre and post lecture notes.
If you have Neyhart as a professor then count yourself lucky. He is experienced and great at explaining topics. I truly enjoyed his lectures thought he was a fantastic teacher. 10/10 would recommend!
Excellent professor. He explains everything to the best of his abilities and always makes sure that he answers questions when people are confused. He made every class enjoyable! Chemistry was my favorite subject this semester and I'm not even a chem major. I highly recommend!
You are lucky if you get Dr. Neyhart as a professor. He explains material in a clear and simple way that is perfect for an introductory course. He does not expect you to already have a lot of prior knowledge going into the course. His pre and post-class readings are invaluable and make the textbook unnecessary. Tests are not easy but are very fair.
LOVE Neyhart. He's like a mix of Bill Nye and Bob Ross. Very stereotypical 101 class, but he tries to make it interesting and applies a reasonable curve at the end. He always stops to ask if anyone has questions even in a class of 300, and he'll always answer to the best of his ability no matter how simple the question. Overall amazing teacher.
Have a great retirement to the greatest professor
Best teacher ever! Lectures are extremely straightforward and correlate directly with the webassign and tests. Never before have I ever seen a trick question on any of his tests! He is also super accessible outside of class and extremely helpful during office hours. He also has the ability to dumb chem down for anyone.
Coming into NCSU, I have had too many people tell me that CH101 (and statics) is something I should dread/look forward to do poorly on (I got a C in Honors Chem in HS so I believed all of that x10). Not in a million years with Neyhart. He's responsive to emails, and had amazing lectures that were reflected in his tests. TAKE HIM!
The homework on WebAssign is easy enough, but get ready to spend 6-8 hours a week watching lectures and completing homework for this class. The tests were mainly fill-in-the-blank or free response, so if you don't have a concept down well enough there's almost no room for guessing. The professor was accessible during his office hours for questions.
