Pawloski is well and away one of the best professors that I have had in the sciences. His lectures are as fun as a physics lecture can be with humor, clear information, and good demos mixed in. Physics 1302 is the hardest class that I have had at the U, yet he made it easier than it should be. Also his office hours are incredibly helpful.
Pawloski is easily one of the best professors at the U. He is incredibly caring and wants you to do well. His lectures are great. He simplifies the material and uses very detailed and step-by-step powerpoints (also posted online). Office hours are incredibly helpful and is more than willing to meet with you outside of class. Take him.
He was the best physics professor I have ever had! I went into the semester hating physics, and now I find it interesting. Lectures are super important and he explains concepts well. Office hours are a must even though they are 'optional'. He is literally the best professor at the U. Tests are hard, but there is a nice curve.
Lectures are funny and informative, everything is broken down to make it easier to understand ( and he posts everything online!). He derives most equations, which you don't need to know, but for people like me, it makes it easier and more interesting. Tests are not the easiest, but pretty much every question will be reviewed in office hours.
He is a great professor. Really made me realize the importance of physics. Held many office hours, so he is very approachable. He really cares about his students, and wants everyone to really understand the material do well! He understands physics can be boring at times, but made lectures fun!
He is a very fun teacher, somehow made me laugh during physics. Hard class, but manageable.
Great professor. Really made class interesting and fun. Would recommend.
If you have to take a physics class, sign up for his! He kept his lectures entertaining while making the physics as clear as he possibly could. His clicker questions (part of your grade) were manageable and he'd strongly hint at what the answer was if most students weren't getting it. Very likable & easy to approach. Felt like a highschool teacher.
Greg is great. Not only does he make my Monday-Thursday 8AM physics lectures interesting, I actually WANT to go to class; and this is coming from a habitual class-skipper. I don't love physics, but his honest passion for physics makes it hard to hate.
Great professor. Office hours are a godsend as he just goes through questions that are just like the tests.
Thank goodness I had such a wonderful physics prof last semester. GO TO OFFICE HOURS. DO ALL THE PRACTICE PROBLEMS ASSIGNED. This was a hard class, but there was a good curve and with enough hard work and perfect attendance, it turned out just fine. He really seems to care about students and makes the lectures compelling and clear.
He gives great lectures, and is actually funny at 8AM.
Hilarious.
Pawloski stands out from the rest of the physics dept. filled with old faculty only interested in their own research. The class is hard regardless of who teaches it but he really tries hard to help every single person. He checks to see how people are doing at each step of the way and you can tell he cares. If you have to take 1302, take it w/ him.
If you do and understand the homework, you will be fine, buy the homework is hard.
Greg is by far the best professor I've had. He makes 8 am lectures fun and worth waking up for. His office hours are pure gold and were crucial to my success in this class. His quizzes are representative of what he teaches (which is rare in physics), and the homework he assigns is HUGELY important when preparing for quizzes.
You are making a good choice if you take this professor. He was a great lecturer and made an 8am west bank class worth waking up for three times a week. His tests are basically rewritten homework question.
Kept you awake during lectures and was very helpful in office hours. Quizzes are mostly based on homework questions, but homework is not graded.
One of the my best experiences with a professor thus far. Very funny in lecture, and was insightful at the same time. Homework wasn't mandatory, but made class much easier. The best Physics 2 professor from talking to many other engineering students, possibly best in department. Did skip many classes, and still did well however.
Prof Pawloski is a really funny guy and a great professor. He makes a ton of jokes while also teaching. The practice problems are a lot harder than anything he goes over in class but he has a lot of office hours the week of the test and just goes over problems that people didn't understand. There are a lot of practice problems and practice tests
He is a very funny teacher but his lectures are terrible. He spends too much time on easy things and rushes through hard concepts. The lectures are hard to follow especially when looking over an old one. His tests are horrible, he throws concepts on there which were not discussed in class or covered in homework.
The homework in his class is optional, but it is highly recommended if you want to learn the content. His lectures are really engaging, however. Clicker questions are also easy points
The best university professor I've had so far. Gregory is a wonderful person and a fantastic teacher. He is able to make otherwise mind numbing physics fun and interesting. This class is a blast, that is up until midterms and finals. But difficult tests are to be expected of classes like this. Just be sure to study for tests and you'll be fine.
Amazing & engaging professors, very clear and reasonable grading criteria, and helps students succeed with quiz prep sessions and office hours. He tends to go through concepts a bit too quickly during lectures, but everything is online and if you study you will get a good grade. The grade cutoffs are generous, but the class material is difficult.
This professor want to give all students an 'A' in his class. His class has no curve. He always plus extra points on the test if the average is lower. In the thirds midterm, he gives 5 points for each student, and, in the last midterm, he gives 20 to each student. Why not give all students 100% on each midterm? Why not give all students A directly
The best Physics professor I've ever had so far! Amazing professor and learn a lot through the semester!
Great professor and highly recommended!
Greg is a great professor who is super funny and makes class enjoyable. Although the course itself is pretty difficult, he makes it slightly better. There are lots of clicker questions so make sure to utilize those as a 5% grade boost. Also you only have 4 "quizzes" in the class but they're basically midterms so try hard on them.
The worst professor I met. He is a professor who traded grade for good comments. In fact, his classes were terrible.
Greg was awesome as a first-semester lecturer. However, when it comes to physics, I don't really like it when professors derive equations and do super tough problems that probably won't even be on the test. I also don't like it when professors simplify equations and then plug in #s. He does all of these things pretty heavy, so just be prepared!
He does pretty much everything perfectly: his explanations are perfectly clear, he doesn't mandate that we do any of the homework, and he provides pretty clear guidelines for what's going to be on the test. The material can be tough sometimes, but if you show up to office hours and lecture you should be good.
It's not an easy class, but doing well in it is completely possible. He's pretty good one-on-one should you need extra help. Homework is optional, but one question from it will appear on the exam, so make sure you at least know how to do the homework. His lectures are pretty entertaining too.
Dr. Pawloski genuinely wishes to help his students understand the course material and succeed in his class. Although the class is not as easy as others, he is a great teacher and his lectures are interesting and fun. Also, he is more than willing to answer any questions after class. Great lecturerer and overall fantastic professor!
This class was really tough and physics is definitely not my favorite subject, but Pawloski made the lectures worth attending. He was engaging and funny while also actually helpful in learning the material. Homework is optional, but there is always a question from the homework on the quizzes-- do the homework and you'll do well on the quizzes.
He is a great lecturer that really presents the material well. Even though it is a big lecture, he tries to make sure a majority of the class is with him. He also does an amazing job with his clicker questions where he leaves a lot of time so that you can work with others really making the class seem smaller than it is. Optional homework, but do it
Pawloski was a great teacher and he is hilarious. He really helped to boost my grade from first semester and he doesn't hold back on resources to share with you for you to help yourself. The best part is that he hosts these review sessions on Fridays that help your grade a lot if you attend.
Me and the SQUAD rolled up in this joint at 8 am every Mon, Tues, and Wed. Dude's a professor but also a standup comedian too so 8am's are WORTH, don't take anyone else take Greg. All midterms got at least 1 hw problem on them, so if u do hw then you be G but its still hard af. Fri lectures are office hours so go. Overall Greg was DOPE.
Makes 8AMs not so horrid after all. Do the homework, go to office hours if you need help, and you're golden.
If you can do all the homework assigned, go to office hours for help, and ask questions, you will definitely do well. He is one of the best professors that I've taken and actually wants you to do well in his class.
I had Palowski for Physics 2, which can be very difficult. He was always lively and funny and made it easy to stay awake for the 8 AMs. Word of advice: if you're struggling, contact him immediately. Don't wait to get help. He's a very helpful person and if I didn't go to his office, I probably would've failed. Also, do the homework. Trust me
The other reviews are spot on. 8am physics is well worth it for better lectures and a nicer prof. I never opened the textbook, just studied from the lecture slides.
Do the homework, it helps. He cares about your performance, so don't even hesitate to contact him if you're falling behind. He really tries to make the class less horrible with his nerd humor and mannerisms. He posts all of his slides and a lot of practice problems. Office hours are a lifesaver.
Even if you are not a morning person, taking an 8 am with him is well worth it. He teaches the material really well, and his office hours are extremely helpful. Don't skip on doing the homework! You will regret it. There is always at least one question on the test that is exactly like a problem on the homework. He's also a cool dude.
He was extremely willing to assist students. I often attended office hours and also met with him one on one to discuss the course, and he was helpful and very willing to work with me to help me understand the material. He actually wants the students to succeed. I once sent him a meme via email and he thought it was funny. He is a great professor!
Favorite Physics professor I've had. PLEASE take CSE intro physics with him. He cares about his students immensely and his test are very fair. Going to 8am lectures was worth it because of him, very engaging and amusing. Always making jokes. Very accessible at office hours and outside of class. Stops by the tutor room randomly to help.
He's a great professor. Very detailed and well liked. Does his best to make lecture interesting whether though silly examples or funny stories
Pretty mediocre teacher. He's funny in class but doesn't explain things well and the examples are unhelpful. You have to go to class cause he uses clickers for attendance which is annoying cause my time would be better spent teaching myself the material
I've known Pawloski for 1.5 years (dropped physics and then took it again). He is BY FAR the best professor I've ever had and probably ever will have. He cares so much about his students and their success and will meet with you 1 on 1 as often as it takes for you to understand the material. Also, his tests are super fair and he gives extra credit!
Best professor to take introductory physics classes from. Doesn't use Mastering Physics, but instead assigns relevant homework questions, at least one of which will be on exams. Very accessible outside of class. Do the homework, go to office hours - you'll get an A.
Took AP Physics in high school and had to retake; Pawloski is a good guy who cares about his students but isn't the best lecturer. The way he teaches is a little out there, but he does maintain your attention. Use resources like your TA, practice quizzes, and the discussion section to get to know material better.
Lectures are funny, does lots of good demos to apply concepts learned in class. Tests are about on average difficulty for the common final.
Really good professor because he understands where students struggle with certain topics and goes over them again. Informative and lots of opportunities to make up your grade.
Pawloski's lectures are hilarious and his example problems are filled with jokes, too. It's easy to tell that he really wants students to understand the material. His office hours are especially helpful as he goes through homework problems step by step.
Dr. Pawloski's lectures make sense, include a lot of example problems, and have good definitions. He is very accessible outside of class times and is willing to teach one-on-one. Physics is a tough class, but Dr. Pawloski made it a lot better.
Pawloski uses friday lectures as office hours which is helpful. He spends the time working out your homework problems, and holds more office hours before the tests. Do and understand your homework. I believe he is the best physics professor at the university. Take him and you will do well but make sure to study. He doesn't use mastering physics.
If you have the chance to take a class with Pawloski I would not pass it up. He does a great job of breaking down and explaining physics. He held office hours every Friday instead of class, which makes it super easy to attend and ask him questions. He's really caring about how well his students do and emphasizes understanding over memorization.
Very very funny, makes lectures fun and will explain anything to you if you ask him in his office hours. Has a very weird shaped head however, distracted me during lectures.
Greg is how I wish all my professors were. He cares about students (i.e. going back if he thinks he went too fast, lots of resources, very organized...) and wants them to succeed. His lectures are interesting and he does many demos to engage the class. I WANT HIM BACK.
HE IS AWESOME!!!!!!
Pawloski is great at explaining difficult topics in words that undergrads actually understand. His tests are set up so that if you do the (optional) homework and the in class clicker questions, you'll pass. Also, he has office hours where he does the homework problems on the board. Super helpful!
THE BEST. Prof. Pawloski cares so much about his students. In class clicker questions were easy and if he saw that a lot of people were getting the wrong answer he would try to redirect by explaining the concept again so that more people got it right. Super funny and lectures are very clear. Awful handwriting is only evident during office hours.
Pawloski is so amazing. I had him for my Physics I and he made hilarious lectures that were never boring. I consider myself very bad at physics, but he created the idea that if students worked hard and participated in office hours and do the homework problems, they will get an exceptional grade overall. He makes lectures fun and enjoyable!!!
Don't take intro physics from anyone else. Super caring. Go to the Friday office hours, they help a ton. He's also super accessible outside of class to meet 1:1.
Super caring and hilarious professor. He's pretty good at explaining the topics, and he hosts extra office hours if students are struggling. Phys 1301W is a class many students struggle with but if you do the homework and pay attention in class, you will do fine.
Very fun lectures and easy to understand. Occasionally struggled explaining a topic clearly but he would explain it again to make sure people knew and didn't just move on. Tests were hard but it's expected for a class like this.
He's a great prof! 10/10 would take him again. Really takes the time to make sure that we understand the concepts, and he's very accessible outside of class. His Friday office hours are extremely helpful. Really wants everyone to succeed.
Pawloski has really great lectures that are also pretty funny. He makes sure the class is understanding the lectures by frequently asking if we get what he's saying and explaining concepts in multiple ways. Overall a great professor!
Greg was hilarious, caring, and always willing to help. Physics 1 can be very stressful, but GO TO LECTURE, GO TO FRIDAY OFFICE HOURS, do the homework AND the extra practice problems and everything will work out. DON'T save the lab reports for the night before. They should be easy points. WHENEVER you have a question, ASK! TAs can be hit or miss.
Good professor, keeps every lecture interesting and engaging with clicker questions and demos. Attendance not mandatory but clicker questions were worth 5% of your grade. Homework is optional but if you keep on top of it at least one question on every quiz is from the homework.
Really funny guy who made physics interesting and applicable. By going to class and office hours was able to succeed in the class.
Very engaging guy. I would see him approach to help students even outside of class. Very good grading guidelines and partial credit for problems. The final wasn't that hard and midterms based on optional HW. I wouldn't focus so much on lectures as I would the textbook though for a pro tip.
He is a great professor, but the class as a whole is difficult. Definitely do the optional book problems and you'll have a better chance to get a good grade on the test.
Probably the best physics professor at the U. Class was still extremely hard but he is a really good professor.
Fav professor to this point. I had freshman level physics, free stand up show with a side of physics. Labs and lab reports are toughly graded but that's through the TAs. Need to go to class to do clicker questions. Textbooks are a money grab, but needed.
Took his class in Fall 2019. Really fun lectures. He seemed to really care about his students and gave inspirational speeches after quizzes.
Greg has great lectures. They are humorous and very easy to follow. He works out all the math step by step and has good clicker questions. In retrospect, it shouldn't have been that hard (massive equation sheet on tests), however in the moment physics sucks. Lab TAs were the worst I've ever seen, still aced all lab reports. They are just unhelpful
Pawloski has an amazing sense of humor and has a very interactive lecture style. This is a pretty difficult course, but if you do the homework and the recitation and discussion problems you should get a pleasant surprise on exam day when you find out that the questions on the exam aren't as difficult as the ones they make you do in class.
Fantastic!! Great guy. Funny Helpful and he really cares about students. Had him for physics and I know some who he helped with their calc homework. His way of teaching is a little out there but still really good. The best thing he does it go back and reexplain things. He will look around, see we are not understanding, stop, go back and reexplain.
Dr Pawloski is one of my favorite instructors ever. His lecture style is very engaging, and the in-class questions are free points if you pay attention. Labs are moderately difficult, and the problems on the hw and discussions are often way more difficult than what's on the quizzes. Also, sometimes lectured with a sledgehammer in hand. Great prof.
Mr. Pawloski is an amazing and hilarious lecturer who gives step by step solutions to problems and includes enough jokes to keep the lecture engaging. His office hours are extremely helpful as he goes over homework problems, breaking them down to easily understandable segments.
Physics 1301 was not a very fun class and almost everyone struggles through it, but Professor Pawloski made it a lot better. He tries his best to make physics fun while still teaching the content much better than many other professors I've heard about. He would be my top choice if I were forced to take another physics class.
For me physics is sheer torture but Pawloski made it far more enjoyable than what it could be. He's fun in lectures and works hard to help anyone succeed if they put effort into trying. I highly recommend attending his office hours as he explains concepts far better there than in lecture.
I love this man. Physics is a drag for so many people, including me, but Pawloski managed to do the impossible and make it enjoyable. You can immediately tell just how much this man cares, from how he makes sure his lectures are entertaining and engaging, to how willing he is to answer questions and help explain things. Fantastic and an inspiration
I had "Dr. P" for Physics 1, and for Physics 2 it's second verse- same as the first. Just as caring, engaging, and funny as before. For a course that can feel like you're banging your head against a wall, Pawloski endeavors to make it as enjoyable as it can be given its difficulty. I wish that I could have this man teach every other class I take.
Incredible man and lecturer! Made physics fun and very helpful when stuck. Loved his office hours before each exam and he recognizes his students. He genuinely cares about all of his students.
I love this man. He is one of my favorite professors that I have had. Physics can be a bear, but he brings amusement to class and makes it engaging to learn. Homework is not required but recommended to study for tests. He goes over any problems that students want in office hours and is always helpful. He is an amazing professor. 10/5
He gives really good lectures, and if you are struggling, just go to office hours and he does homework problems. His lectures are both informative and funny. His exams are reasonably difficult, but not ridiculous. Make sure you pay attention. He doesn't require homework, but DO IT. One problem always shows up on quizzes, and it's good practice.
Pawloski makes physics 2 bareable by making jokes and checking in on everyone throughout the lectures. He does a good job of explaining the concepts and he gives helpful examples in class. He is also very helpful during finals by holding office hours every day of the week and working through practice review problems. Overall great professor.
Professor Pawloski was personable, funny, and a great professor. He was able to explain really tough concepts in more palatable terms. The only downside to this is that this means everyone else also does well, and therefore there really isn't any curve to anything.
Best professor I've had at the U. He makes lectures interesting and engaging for students to want to go to lectures. If you go to office hours they're helpful for potential quiz questions and overall he wants students to do well in the class. If you have the chance to take a class with Pawloski do it.
Took Pawloski for 1301 and 1302 overall a great professor. Lectures are very engaging and the notes are very good to review for tests. He is very funny and made the class fun to go to and made it clear what we had to know in order to do well in his class!
He was great. Much better than what I've heard about other Physics 1 professors. Go to his office hours if you can. Not cause you need to, but because they will help you a lot.
So this guy is SUPER NICE and also very funny! Only reason for the bad review is because lectures do NOT prepare you well for tests at all. He just introduces formulas that are on the formula sheet already. I spent a lot of outside time preparing for tests, which is the only reason I got a good grade. Attending lectures alone won't get you an a.
goat.
Greg does a great job of explaining topics well and describing what is needed to be successful. He makes it easy to understand how you can improve. Greg is funny and light hearted which makes it easy to ask him questions and remain engaged in class.
Professor Pawloski's lectures are hilarious. The content is difficult, but he makes it interesting. Homework is not graded, but do it anyway, since test questions are adapted from HW questions. I bought the textbook separately, as the one with the class is online and I found it hard to work with. Overall, great prof, hard content.
after attending a couple of his office hours, pawloski recognized me outside of class and waved to me. you can tell he really cares about his students. i slept through a few of his lectures and would attend another professor's lecture as a replacement, and the difference in my engagement and understanding was huge. absolutely recommend.
My king, only reason I passed this class. Great lecturer, not the best at answering hw questions. Would 100% take again, most entertaining prof in the physics dept.
Funny, caring, and genuine professor. Difficult class work, but he made lectures fun. I actually looked forward to my 8 am with him as it was usually the highlight of my day. Like I said difficult subject, but the final graded curve lines were generous. I ended with a 73 and got a B.
