If you need to take PS 101, definitely take it with this guy. Sember is an awesome dude, just show up to class and you will be fine. A lot of discussions involving interesting newspaper articles that definitely help out in understanding the course material. His review sessions are very helpful and his tests are hilarious.

As far as a Political Science class goes, Sember definitely makes it as interesting as possible and easy to understand. Very little bookwork involved, just 5 to 8 simple questions per chapter and the rest is really discussion about various articles. All in all, he is just a simple man from North Carolina and a great person. Very entertaining.

Prof. Sember is really an amazing teacher. If you are an ESL student, this class may be challenging, however, Mr. Sember teaches in such an interesting and engaging way that you'll look forward to attend every single class. Lots of articles discussion. Tests are not easy & are written in a unique way. Attend class, take notes and read articles.

If you are interested in Political Science, just take with him. This was the most interactive class that I ever had in 14 years of my school life. You will learn. You are not going to be able to not listen to him becuase he will keep you focused and interested in class subjects. There will be hot debates in class.

Never have I met a guy so passionate about political science. Sember knows what he's talking about, and he will engage everybody in discussions. Make sure to take notes on all the details of all the articles discussed in class. Great entertaining class; great laidback teacher.

Good class, fun and interesting. He highly motivates his students, and beware, you never know when you are going to get called on! Keep up on reading, take notes on lectures, and just because the class is fun, don't procrastinate on assignment: he will fail you (or you will fail you!) Prepare for tests, they are difficult for the ill-prepared.

This guy is amazing! I go to UMD, College Park and he is better than any professor I've had there. He is easy to understand, his class is engaging and fun, no one can fall asleep with his loud and entertaining personality.

Professor Sember is an awesome teacher. He takes care to remember everyone and notes each person's signifying traits to incorporate into class and learning. He has a way of drawing everyone into a discussion; trust me I'm usually the quiet one. He grades fairly and gives you chances to raise your grade through extra credit points. BestTeacherEver!

He's wonderful, sometimes I wish I had half the amount of energy as him in life!! He's more of a discussion-based professor; very exciting, truly knows what he's talking about! Not too difficult. You'll learn. I wonder why he doesn't teach at a four year university, though. He sure is a treasure to have at MC!!

This is class is tough but the most fun you will ever have. I have learned invaluable material in his class. He is a fun and interesting professor. He gives a project in the end that if you pass you will get an A in the class regardless of your test grades! He is a professor you cannot miss!

He seems like he'll make a GREAT mentor for anyone serious about politics. He's VERY compassionate about what he says (which I find pretty admirable). It's hard not to talk--every class was like a debate. He teaches applications, not the dry facts. That makes his class fun--but very difficult to get an A. He's willing to help--just show incentive.

Some people are just born to teach. Prof. Sember is one of them. Great sense of humor, interactive teaching methods, smart, informed, helpful, engaging personality, and a killer smile, who could ask for more? Not an easy A, but this is college. Sember's class is hard and you have to literally go to every class to pass. BUT he makes every class worth going to. He is an awesome professor. He is a really good professor, BUT his class is not easy, if you take 105 YOU HAVE TO STUDY AND STUDY REGULARLY its not an easy A or B you have to earn the grade.

Just had my third class with Prof. Sember, and through each one he has brought a phenomenal amount of enthusiasm to to each lecture (I should really say discussion). His teaching style is to play devil's advocate to whatever your views are in order to make you think more deeply about issues. Out of the three courses, Intl Relations is the hardest.

Simply put, one of the best teachers and most entertaining classes I have ever taken. If you have thin skin, it might not be for you, because conversations definitely get heated. The tests weren't EASY, but if you study and have an IQ>6 you'll do well. Go to class - it's most of the tests, and besides, it's FUN. Five stars *****

Professor Sember is fantastic. He gets the whole class involved in debate and discussion and makes political science a lot more lively than just a dry text book and memorizing terms. That said, make sure you are a thorough reader and answer all the study questions ahead of time as his tests are tricky. One of the best professors you can get!

As many others have said, Prof. Sember is one of the best at MC. His classes are very enjoyable and he is engaging. However, he is a very tough grader of papers, and while his tests are fun, they are hard. There is a lot of material to memorize and a lot of applications of that material. Still though, I'd definitely recommend both of his classes.

Second class I've taken with Sember. Once again, great class. Entertaining, informative, and a pleasure to attend. IR isn't for the thin skinned. If you need everything to be PC and can't handle other peoples views, this class isn't for you. If you enjoy lively debate and can handle other views, take this class!

Without a doubt one of the best professors at MC. He makes each class fun and engaging. The assignments/test are a bit tough though, so definitely pay attention and take notes in class.

Sember is a boss! Show up, and just listen and participate and you will be fine. He gives rewrites on the papers and extra credit at the end. For the test study the study guides and MAKE SURE YOU KNOW THE ARTICLES IN DETAIL. YOU CAN WRITE YOURSELF INTO EXTRA CREDIT WITH COMPLETE ASWERS. Great Prof. got an "A" and enjoyed every class.

To date, one of my favorite teachers - I still look back on this class and love it! He's absolutely engaging and makes class so interesting. His use of articles to illustrate concepts in the textbook is absolutely brilliant! And I love the class discussions. For his tests, the more detail-oriented you are, the more points you get. Sember has a very engaging, hysterical, outgoing, and upbeat personality, making him the best professor at MC. His teaching style is very energetic and he keeps the students involved (make sure you pay attention because you may get called on without warning). Lastly, his test, though comical, aren't easy. He is simply the best! I took Am Gov with him and loved his teaching technique so much that took Pol Sci the following semester. He uses real life articles to demonstrate and explain the chapters, is super interactive with the class -you will never fall asleep- and is very fun overall. His exams are tricky but he gives you everything you need.

Sember is a gem among teachers at MC. His lessons are extremely engaging and interactive. He incorporates his students into his political scenarios (which are usually outlandish & therefore totally hilarious), making them extremely interesting. He videotapes his review sessions & posts them online, making studying for exams much easier. He's GREAT.

Prof. Sember is great. You need to pay attention and take notes. Classroom discussions are very interesting. I took a summer class with Prof. Sember. I wish I took a regular semester class, because I think it would have been better and not so rushed. I learned a lot in a few weeks time. I would take another class of his.

This prof is highly entertaining. Class participation is an absolute must. The class discussions get you to really think critically and it's important to remember that it's a class and he's intentionally trying to rile you up. The tests aren't hard but the case assignments are really tough. (also pay attention to his shoes)

Buy the textbook! Tests are passed off the reading. Lots of homework but gives you credit for silly things because he knows it's tough to be into the class. Makes it fun though and really makes it more of a discussion rather than lecture. Participate and ask for help, he really wants you to pass and do well. Give it your best effort.

I took 2 classes with him, and I love this guy!! He's such a cool, laid back professor. He makes the most boring topics, interesting so you wouldn't want to skip classes. Attendance is not important, he gives so much extra credit, you actually need to be so lazy and careless to get less than an A in this class. We need more teachers like this!

I enjoyed Sember!!! He isn't your average professor; his lectures are amazing! Really take the class. He says from the beginning this is not your parents'government class & it isnt. Discuss, discuss, discuss - not lecture like most profs. I learned about American Government & we had a community in the class. This was the one class I looked forward to every day.

I have never met a teacher who could be so inspirational as him. He has a great sense of humor which makes coming to class more fun! I would wake up in the mornings for the sole reason of going to his class. He made learning fun and it convinced me to major in politics. This guy, he really makes the material come to life. You're not just going to be taught, but actually discuss your ideas in a classroom setting. He's fantastic at drawing out the ideals that people have and showing both sides of an argument and really making you think. A fair bit of writing, but really interesting stuff.

At first class seems so chill it's basically discussion about issues but when he gives out assignments he wants you to be specific. At first there tough but then you catch on.

I really loved his class. He is one of the few professors I have had who just won't stop talking. His classes are never boring because he is so fast paced. He has lots of information in the lectures that are also found in the text. He likes to call on people to participate on discussions which encourages you to think for yourself.

I'm a previous student of Mr. Sember and until this day I still remember him as the best professor I ever had. The class was so interesting, I looked forward to it every time. He's very reasonable, easy going, and understanding. The assignments were a bit difficult but if you pay attention you'll definitely pass. GREAT professor!!

I just had him for a summer course- american government. don't regret it one bit. you'd think i'd be distraught to wake up every morning for class- but not his! i never once felt like sleeping in. his lectures keep you entertained. the class was so much fun and ive got the attention span of a fly, so him keeping my attention was amazing.

Mr. Sember goes out of his way to make sure you have lots of opportunities to be successful in his class. He is absolutely hilarious. Very on top of his game. Grades fast and fairly. He is very fair. Professor Sember is one of the best teachers I've had in MC. He brings so much energy to every class it is hard to not be engaged. This class is all about discussions on social issues and his tests are based on those discussions as well as some material in the book. Overall very fun/engaging class. It's an easy A or B if you read and attend class.

Theres only two exams in which he offers study sessions and provides video lectures in addition to a study guide. His course is challenging but super enjoyable. He holds discussions almost everyday that are interesting even if your a shy person. Hes a amazing teacher and makes politics so fun! This class helps me have an open mind to things

A very hard grader, but you can tell he loves what he teaches and makes you want to be engaged in class even if Poli Sci isn't your thing. He's really funny and wears interesting shoes and makes jokes about himself and the students all the time. With him there's no such thing as being the one who "doesn't talk". I would 10/10 take his class again!

I had him as my 9:00 am class and I cant tell you how amazing it was to start my day with his class! He makes all the content so relatable and hilarious! Honestly the entire class was laughing every class! I'm definitely going to find an excuse to take him again,and you should too.

Truly the best Prof. at MC. He is so engaging fair. I have taken him twice now and still dont really know his own POLI beliefs, which is good. His assignments mostly come from the book and can be tough. POLISCI is my major so the class required no studying for me, but the class before the exams he will usually hold a jeopardy review which is so fun

I've taken two classes with Sember; I'm sad that there won't be anymore. He's an incredible instructor - very engaging and makes you think. This is the only class where I've gone on field trips, which were fun. I've met and spoken with politicians for the first time in my life. You'll never forget Sember, his class, or his fancy shoes!

My first government class with sember was a great time. You may find yourself struggling with some of his confusing exams.. but not to worry there is plent of extra credit and as long as you work hard and communicate with him you will thrive. Professor Sember was absolutely awesome! He uses his students as examples in exams/quizzes/essays which really helped understand the material. Sember always made sure his students particpated in class which was great. Honestly hell grow fond of you if you constantly particpate in class. If you take notes during his lectures than youll do fine.

This class is VERY hard to follow. Meaning if you don't write down verbatim what Prof. is saying or if you don't record, you most likely won't pass. SUGGESTION: (I wish i did this), print out his study guides on BB before class. Take notes on what he says on that study guide following the topics and RECORD THE CLASS

Most entertaining professor ever! I am not a morning person so I normally sleep through any morning class I take, but I was wide awake for this 8 am class. If you actually want to learn about government then this is the professor you want to take. I am considering becoming a political science major after taking his class!

He explains concepts very detailed, he loves to joke around with examples, and he is one of the few professors who take students to field trips to D.C., Rockville, or even Philadelphia at no cost!

I love Professor Sember's personality. His class was so much fun while being very educational and informative. He got even the quietest people to speak up and enjoy themselves (from my perspective). My favorite part was the articles and in class debates. It is really nice to be able to voice your opinion and be heard.

This class really got me out of my comfort zone as a student and as a person in every day life. Sember encourages students to think outside of the box, and really gives you a different perspective on everything you learn. Loved debating and seeing different sides to issues I never would have thought I could have seen! The class felt like a family.

Gives amazing lectures and cares about students. Everything is easy to understand and remember. But if you take his class, make sure you take notes and study before exams. Just because he's funny doesn't mean he'll go easy on the grades if you don't know anything. Review the material and you'll do fine. Tons of opportunities for bonus points.

One of the best professors at MC. He puts a lot of time and effort into the class. Lots of fun discussions and topics that will make you think. Does lots of out of the classroom field trips which is very rare for professors to do. There is a lot of potential for extra credit in this class, but the assignments and exams are very challenging.

Sember is one of my favorite professors at MC. He was hilarious & is super lively when doing class discussions. Definitely always made me look forward to this class. He gives many extra credit opportunities with fun field trips. Professors at MC never do that. Just use the resources he gives you on BB & take notes. If you do that you'll be golden

If u don't mind ur GPA becoming lower, take Sember's class. His field trips are great; u'll really learn & see lots of new things. He's a TOUGH EXAM MAKER. Questions on exams r from things he said in class. Scenario assignments r confusing too; he wants u to find examples besides the actions of judge/cop, which aren't clearly written in instruction

Greg is the man. Easily one of the best professors in college I've had so far. His lectures are engaging and he encourages everyone to participate in discussions. Lots of opportunities for extra credit. All around great teacher and entertaining lecturer. Would highly recommend.

AMAZING professor! Went into this class w/ no interest in anything government related and his class completely changed that for me. He doesn't accept late work, but gives you more than enough time to complete assignments. He is really big on class participation so make sure you participate. He also gives A LOT of extra credit and not a lot of HW.

Best Government teacher ever! We had a lot of trips, and he is always engaged in class, especially if your not a morning person, he will wake you up. Just ask questions, read the text and go to his office hours for the scenarios because it does help a lot. He will remember the student that loved fried chicken! Talk to him about anything!

I'd like to note I was dreading taking Politics 101 at the start of this semester as the subject is annoying to me as a whole. Prof. Sember changed my entire view with his class. One of the most CONSISTENT communicators, caring, and funnest teachers I've ever had. He gives lots of work but E.C. too. He works hard and even hauled despite Corona.

The way professor Sember speaks is loud so beware. As long as you pay attention and study the material you shouldn't have a hard time in the class. Very accessible outside of class & managed the online transition to zoom very well! He will call on everyone so they can voice their opinions, which makes the class interesting. Another gem of a professor at Montgomery College. This man knows how to engage a group of students of all ages and he CARES A LOT about making sure students think critically about government. I took his 7 week online class and I'm disappointed I can't stay longer because he's very well organized and makes online class EXTREMELY FUN! Great man.

His instructions are very confusing, BUT he schedules tons of office hours & study sessions. ATTEND THOSE & YOU'D DO WELL. He grades fairly- SO DO THE WORK! Lots of extra credit opportunities. Okay. I'd say he's my favorite professor because he's super funny. Sadly though, he doesn't teach you ANYTHING on the tests. I think our class average was like a D. He's fun, but unless you already know political science, you're gonna walk in on test day and not know a thing. As a person though, he's awesome and I reccomend him! Super fun!

Professor Sember is overall one of the best. Constant, clear communication. Class participation matters, not very lecture-heavy. Not a ton of HW, but projects are a bit tough. If you don't work during the day, you'll be able to get extra credit, which is the only downfall for others. Relaxed and willing to help you! Very relatable!!

This was my best class all year! The classes were open discussions and he connected the class topics to news stories and issues which made it more interesting. He gives a lot of extra credit opportunities and field trips. He's also very flexible with due dates, gives multiple chances on quizzes, and hosts review sessions for exams. Take his class!

Professor Sember is an overall great teacher. He is very passionate about his class which can be seen in his lectures. He is also very clear and easy to understand with his material. Professor Sember is genuinely really funny. His lectures are great and we get to debate about a topic in class and it's enjoyable. The papers are okay, if you attend the rough draft sessions for his scenario papers it will help you 100%. He provides lots of bonus points by going on trips and attending game sessions. The quizzes are a little hard.

Don't expect a casual poli class. Quizzes in this class are unlike what you're used to seeing, and many of the answers arguably come down to grey lines. There's no rubric for grading papers, and it's quite difficult, or even impossible to discuss/redo a grade with Mr. Sember. (I've seen people try). Sember's a hilarious, fun person though.

AMAZING professor, but PARTICIPATION MATTERS !!!! Assignments are straightforward, you must complete a reading quiz for each chapter, with three scenarios. If you get a bad grade on the first one, the second scenario can count twice. In addition to the required coursework, there is a significant amount of extra credit and engaging activities.

Professor Sember makes the class engaging with his passion and humor. Be prepared to work hard, as he's a tough grader, but the extra credit and study sessions are very helpful. I found unstuck study useful for reviewing class concepts alongside the textbook.

I would 100000% retake this professor. He was not only engaged with the students but also very understanding.He is not a harsh grader and has multiple extra credit opportunities. Lots of opportunities for extra credit, mock court, visiting the White House, visiting congress, etc. His lectures were always engaging and he always made a point to have everyone share their thoughts toward whatever we were discussing.
