Great guy, hard to follow his teaching style though
I had this professor for MA245, and his tests were straight from the examples done in class.... if you do the homework, or at least do some of it.... (and understand it), then it is an easy 'A'...
He seems to grade easy, especially if you show your work. Lots of HW, but at least he uses and teaches from the book. I would take him again.
The notes given in class are key to success in his class, and so is turning in homework.

A very fair grader. If you put effort into the class you will receive a fair grade. If you put in no effort at all you will fail.
He is an ok professor, his grading is good and he trys to prepare you well for you exams but it is so hard to follow him during class. His teaching style could definitly improve.
Excellent teacher.
DO YOUR HOME WORK.**** loads of work. all his test qu's come straight from examples in class and its pretty straight fwd teaching. just dont slack off! if i passed neone can
Tests are easy. Grading is ok. Doesn't help at all. Most of class time is spent correcting his mistakes and asking questions he can't answer. If you want to learn something new, then avoid him.
Test are straight forward and provides great notes in class. Be prepared to do the homework because it is the key to success in his class.
This guy is realllly boring. It can be 11am and he can still put you to sleep. He so mono tone that its a boring class. i would suggest getting a different calc teacher
early morning class and he'll put you right to sleep - nothing really interesting about calculus, anyway. informative and easy to understand - tons of examples.
Dr. Spradlin is a bit on the boring side in class. The notes and examples he gives are decent, but not great. However, if you do need help, ask him after class or during his office hours. He will help you.
Great Teacher. If you can get over being bored at times, his class was not that bad.Homework was ok, just review once in a while, you'll be fine
Fair teacher.....very boring and mono tone though, he will put you to sleep. I suggest a different teacher for Calc.
Loved him! Tests were graded very easy. Didn't like the final though. It was a multiple choice made up by couple different teachers. Average was a 59. There went my A.
Good Teacher, tests are fairly easy, not to hard to pass with a B
He is AMAZING! He is a really good math teacher, notes are clear and stright forward, he is really willing to help. He's test are stright from the homework do them and you will be fine.
all the tests are straight from the HW, so they are easy. but the final will kill you. he creates the final from questions he couldnt ask on the tests. so if you use the tests to study you get screwed.
Prof.Spradlin did an outstanding job of explaining Business Stats. He prepared you very well for all the quizzes and exams, including the final exam. Always very helpful and fair; do the homework, take good notes, and you should get the grade you are looking for. Excellent professor!
Professor Spradlin may know a lot about math I'll give him that but he needs to learn how to put some excitement in his classes
Easy tests, covered material well. Short homework. Easy A compared to most. Only problem is his clarity in explaining things. He makes small mistakes in his examples often. Usually someone in the class catches them before he gets much farther. Really nice guy. Class can get boring sometimes, but he knows his stuff despite the mistakes
GS is the man!!!
Spradlin is hilarious (he dressed up like Austin Powers for Halloween), and generally a good prof. A bit absentminded, but his hw and tests are pretty easy. I would take his class again.
What can I say about Spradlin that won't sound mean. Lets put it this way...I've had more excitment watching turtles hump then being in this class. Now if you didn't think that was bad this dude didn't even show up for our final exam. He's so boring and he's not that nice when you talk to him sometimes. He seems to get worse with each semster!
The guys talks really slow. He's not the best professor in the world. Is not very understanding to students!
GS is horrible in my opinion. He teaches the topics but he is so boring you end up losing him in the middle of the problem. He isn't helpful at all unless you completely stop his class to ask him a question. His tests are hard and some questions contain things he didn't even talk about. I recommend you take someone...in fact, I urge you.
He is the text book
Very Boring class! Hard to stay awake...no attendence, easy to skip, just do HW....tests suck
Very easy to lose...not very clear...often messes up his own problems...doesnt EXPLAIN, just does the problems. Do the HW and you should be alright, but try to get a different teacher.
He is a sad sad man, always depressed, giving****loads of hw, DONT TAKE HIM!!!
A million dollars and two lose strippers couldnt make this guy happy. He is like a talking text book. He is probably the worst teacher ever!! I am glad that I paid $2800 just to teach myself this course from the included CD rom with the text book! It has really good power points included.
the dude doesn't smile and doesn't explain anything, he just writes on the board and then says what he writes... If he writes For example, on problem number 22, he writes that on the board and says it word for word horrible
This guy would probably be an ok teacher if he wasn't scared of people. Has almost no personality and is not very good at explaining things. I will admit that he is pretty fair about grading the tests and will give you enough partial credit when you need it.
He kind of goes to fast on all hee's explaining and he's kind of retarded
Not very good with extra help. Takes info from book and writes it out with minimum examples
Just like the other dude said. He's a little weird but a great help during his office hours. He doesnt feelings, kinda like a walking textbook, but he is friendly if you get him out of his shell. He plays music on the computer at the begining of class.
He is easy on the HW, but tests can be a ****. The dude is not exciting. It’s almost like listening to “books on tape”. If you don’t have strong math skills or the ability to learn on your own, then I would seriously avoid him. Watch out for those knock, knock jokes or “tooth hurting” joke. LLLLOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLL.
Ive already had prior Calculus experience so in this class i just sit there listening to my ipod, and doing the homework. He is EXTREMLY boring...i mean like EXTREMLY! if you can, switch out of his class, but if you already know the topic, its very easy and hes fun to laugh at...but if your new at the subject, SWITCH!
Spradlin is the man. He can be so funny when he wants to, otherwise he's the most chill professor. His class is easy. Just copy the notes, do the homework, and you will pass the class. His tests are almost exactly like his examples in the notes. Cool dude. Everyone who doesn't like him probably failed his class. Don't listen to them.
Pro's: Expremely thourough, Easy Quizes & tests, Cons: Super boring monotone voice, no class interaction whatsoever, writes on the board the entire time really fast while talking also and doesent move so you cannot see it *Math has always been one of my best subjects, but i cannot learn from this guy! *not recomended*
He speaks in monotone, very dry, no enthusiasm, very hard to stay awake in the morning. He stands at the board and writes all class. Most things can be found exactly from the book. Tests arn't too bad if you do the homework.
Spradlin is the man. While he does speak in a monotone voice, he is there to teach not humor you. Reviews before test and its just like the test or pretty close. Very helpful. FOLLOW instructions on the test or you will get points taken off.
He talks to the board, but he goes over problems similar t those on tests
monotone but still overcomes that to be a very good teacher. but PAY ATTENTION.
Super boring at 8:00 in the morning, but easy material if you had calculus in high school
Very very borrrinnggg!!!...you dont have to go class, you can just read the book and do the homeworks you'll do just fine.monotone voice, talk to the board,....practice old exams online before test, you'll get an easy A
He definitely takes care of students who ask him for help. Lectures are boring but he is a good guy.
It took me a while to get this guy at first. He's really reserved. But after a few weeks, he starts to relax and he's a really cool guy. He's also the most competent math professor I've ever met. The class is easy to do well in if you put in any effort at all. I hope I can take more classes from Spradlin in the future.
Spradlin is good if you have taken calc. before, but he needs to improve on the following: 1) Monotone Voice (needs more excitement) 2) Using less calculus proofs from book 3) Stop assuming we have prior knowledge (we know nothing) 4) Take advice from level 4+ Math professors for idea and tips. If Spradlin does this he level up on R.M.P.!!!!
Spradlin is very obviously passionate about math, but he's also very picky and perfectionist. Assigns quite a bit of homework. His tests are difficult, but fair. He teaches quickly, but is very available to help you out when you fall behind. Overall, I would absolutely take him again.
He is very good at teaching the board. I, however, learned nothing from him. Had a tutor teach me everything on the final so that I could pass the class.
Dont do it! His in class examples are very abstract and contain numerous errors. He doesn't explain anything and it is Impossible to study from notes. Very anti-calculator type of professor. Do not recommend, especially for a summer class.
Tests are much much easier than homework and lecture problems. Just wants to make sure you understand the fundamental process. Occasionally will get lost doing a problem on the board and post the solution online later when he figures it out. Lots of HW but if you understand the HW problems, testsquizzes are a breeze. Funny sense of humor.
Didn't really learn anything directly from him, but he does write neatly and easy to follow. If you can write examples down that he writes on the board and teach yourself by doing the homework you're golden. The exams are pretty straight forward. The quizzes are easy but the grading method is beyond stupid: rolls a dice to see if it is graded.
He's a very good professor who is able to teach effectively. He teaches relevant material and is pretty clear on what is due when. The problem, however, lies in the fact that his voice is very monotone, which makes lectures drag on sometimes and I often find it hard to stay awake in class after writing a paper late the night before.
Really funny and great guy. But not a really helpful teacher.
Always late. He's confused by himself by his examples, makes A LOT of mistakes when writing notes on the board. Thinks he's funny, unfortunately he's the only one laughing. Not helpful, gives a lot of quizzes but does warn about them in advanced, however the warning doesn't help. Be ready to teach yourself if taking this class.
Prof. Spradlin is a pretty good teacher. He does help with homework and any other questions you may have. His homework (counted in final grade) is sometimes rather plentiful so be prepared to be up late or start soon:he gives ample time. He can be a bit confusing, however he does provide many medias for practice and further explanations. :)
i am almost failing this class! if you want to pass you must do alot of selfeducating
Lecture's are all over the place. He's a good guy, just not a great professor. Expect to learn a lot of the material on your own.
Took him for Calc III last year. Amazing dude. A bit quirky but has a good sense of humor and is very helpful! If you show interest in the class you will do well. I am not a math prodige by any means but I understood everything he said and did well on the tests without hardly any studying. Ask conceptual questions once in a while and youll be fine.
Prof Spradlin has a strange sense of humor and his lectures can be very dry. Does a surprisingly good job at demonstrating relatively complex concepts. Gives a lot of homework and changes due dates constantly, so check your email constantly. Would recommend because he gives partial credit out the wazoo.
Professor Spradlin is simply an awful for teacher for many reasons. First off he assigns homework weekly but does not collect or go over it. Does not give any tests and has weekly quizzes which he does not review for. Much of class time is him showing memes and not actually doing work. When he does do problems, half the time he does them wrong.
Horrible! His lectures were all over the place. Examples were often confusing or done wrong and then later corrected. Quizes were not based off of examples given. This class was very hard. He just gives a lot of information with no way to tie the information to real world or logic to understand clearly. 2 question quizes leave no room for error.
I feel like this professor completely failed me. Lectures weren't very well structured and didn't relate back to homework or quizzes. 80% of the course grade is dependent on quizzes which constantly had errors. A significant amount of class time was wasted on "funny" videos. Missed a lot of deadlines he set for himself, forgot notes and work a lot
Gives a lot of detailed notes and examples, and a lot of the quizzes are just the examples he did in class with different numbers and equations. Homeworks are not necessary as long as you go over all his notes and examples. Redo his example would be the best way to study for his quizzes. One thing is that his quizzes go by section but notes do not.
Dr. Spradlin was a great calc III teacher! There were 20+ quizzes throughout the course, but the top 20 counted towards your grade. Homework was not collected, but the quizzes were usually very similar to the homework (if not identical, at times - I recommend Slader if you need HW help). If you work hard and attend class, you will do well.
Lectures are jumbled and hard to follow. 80% of your grade is made of the top 20 quizzes in the class. Terribly hard to achieve an A. Quizzes range from 1 question to 3, so if you happen to be quizzed on the material you don't understand, you're screwed. Quiz warnings are vague and don't help you study for them at all. DO NOT recommend!
Spradlin is the best! He has all of the material such as examples, hw, and old tests on the google drive. If you work for it, you will do great. The class has quizzes only, and he drops the extra quizzes. Attend the lectures and do the homework.
What Dr.S has in the way of eccentricity, he lacks in mercy. The quizzes seem like a godsend at first, but if you're not good at math, quickly become a recurring nightmare. No graded homework means no grade boost. The final is brutal. Dr. S is a slight step above some of the notoriously bad professors, but be warned, he by no means is the best.
Makes you do hw, doesn't give you feedback on it. Sets up a course syllabus, doesn't follow it. Doesn't care about your real life problems, better show up to class. Lectures sometimes cover a basic concept or try to but that won't prepare you for a test. Just not a good professor.
class did not appreciate his blog on the projector every morning but Spradlin didn't catch onto that. Cringe fest all semester long. Seems to take constructive criticism personally. Thinks students naturally lie and make stuff up to get out of responsibilities, he doesn't seem to realize we're paying to be here and this isn't highschool.
He is a great professor if you are disciplined and willing to put in the work. He starts every class out with a funny YouTube video. BEWARE HOMEWORK IS NOT GRADED OR COLLECTED, so unless your disciplined to do it anyway you wont pass. He does really want everybody to succeed and is great in office hours. He also thoroughly explains the math topics.
Spradlin is a great Proffessor. He gives u H.W that is optional and considering u r repsonsible, do it so u will be successful on his quizzes and tests. 30 percent of the test questions are copy and paste from the H.W. He really helps u with the H.W in his office hrs.
If you put in the work to lean in his class you'll pass. He gives you everything you need to know to pass his class, and his hw relates a lot to his tests
He doesn't allow you to use calculators because he wants you to understand the concept more that how to multiply 2 big numbers.
Homework is not graded. Quizzes are unpredictable and dominate your grade. Lecture is exceptionally dry.
Do his homework, write all of his examples. He's super helpful in office hours and is a genuinely quirky but funny and nice guy. Study Study Study for his exams, if you do practice problems (from his old tests that he literally puts in a google drive *with solutions* for you to study), there;s no reason you won't be ready. You'll learn a lot.
His lectures can be very confusing, you'll learn more from doing the HW. But DO THE HW and STUDY for the tests. I skipped most classes and studied briefly before the first test and got a B+ on it. The tests and quizzes are easy as long as you study and he gives you at least a few days warning. He doesnt use canvas tho so you have to calc ur grade.
Have a lot of coffee before his lectures. Very monotonousness and easy to zone out. ALWAYS DO THE HOMEWORK ON TIME!
A frustrating experience due in part by non-graded homework and ruthless grading. Quizzes instead of tests doesn't work well in practice. Extremely dry lectures. Beware fake reviews.
Very unorganized. This was my first B in any class. He plays music during online lectures and puts live animation while he is working. I could not focus on the video. You don't really learn anything and are largely expected to memorize everything. He does not really care how you perform in the class. He just does his job and that is it.
I barely passed no help to Professor Spradlin. He canceled class multiple times because "something came up", "forgot my ID", ect. His lectures weren't lectures. He simply went over problems, stopped midway and claimed "its easy, you can do the rest". By the end of the semester only 3 people came to class. I have no idea how he is still employed.
He barely teaches. He's extremely unprofessional, as in he never shows up to class on time, always cancels office hours and grades assignments extremely late. Got my 1st test grade back 2 months later. He doesn't assign much work so you have no practice. Tests are pretty easy though. Recommend if you learn better on your own and don't want work.
Worst calc professor at Riddle. Very inconsistent, keeps changing deadlines, takes 2 months to grade exams and assignments, doesn't use canvas...
The prof is very dry and boring but does try and spice up his lectures with some humor, which sometimes is too old to understand. Otherwise, I struggled in this class and felt confused by starting new topics on Wednesdays instead of Mondays and the constant change in deadlines and lack of canvas grading is confusing. Also slow at grading
Not the worst professor by any means, but I did not find his lectures helpful at all for learning the material. He seemed a bit all over the place and even his online posted lectures took forever to get into the important math. The class itself was not bad, and hes a fair/easy grader.
He doesn't allow calculators on tests, and his content borderline requires them. Asked friends who had other profs, had never seen the content I was learning in this class, and they said that was way more than what they were doing. No infinite randomly generated HW like Pearson, all written by him and doesn't ever include explanation.
Gregory Spradlin is an embarrassment to math teachers around the world. Instead of teaching a class like a normal, functioning human being, Spradlin vomits words and numbers, expecting the class the magically understand what is happening in his twisted, demented little brain. Any sentient human that is not a robot could teach better. Don't take him
His lectures are difficult to understand for most students. When it comes to your grade if you get less than a 50 on at least 3 of the exams you cannot pass the class. There are only a few grades in this class and getting low grades early on can absolutely cripple you. I only passed due to getting a personal Tutor using Knack. Ungraded Homework.
Spradlin seems like a nice guy, and tries to be funny. However his lectures suck, and most example problems he would do in the class ended up with him realizing they were wrong and saying he would just post the right ones online. His tests seem easy but its a 50/50 chance he either grades rough or lenient.
Know what you are getting into! No mandatory homework or attendance. Tests and quizzes are paramount to passing. Show up to lectures and take good notes and you will not need to do the homework he provides. His lectures are very much off the cuff but it shows how well he does know the material. He gives some bonus questions but not many. Be careful
Calc 3 is not meant to be easy, you need to put in effort to get a good grade. Lectures are not mandatory nor is homework grades, so you need to take initiative to get a good grade. Exams and quizzes make up almost all of you grade. Why'll his lectures aren't the greatest, he gives you plenty of online recourses to cement you knowledge.
He is very much the type of professor who only turns around to leave the classroom when it is time to leave. He rarely performs examples or goes over the homework in class and the homework DEFINES the test and quiz questions. Be aware that his questions can be copy and paste from prior semesters of the course you have him for. Pay for a tutor.
Overall a great professor, he does teach really fast but always gives plenty of extra recourses outside of class to help you study, and not just the textbook. he is super knowledgeable about the topic and will work hard to make sure that everyone is able to learn it.
Spends 10 mins per class fiddling with "applets" that barely ever work, 20 mins going over a problem in the most confusing way possible only to get the wrong answer, all after being late. Doesn't respect DSS. Lectures make no sense. Everything I learned came from my own research. Absolutely terrible professor. Lucky this has a character limit.
He is inconsistent and his teaching style is messy. You're paying for him to play "educational" youtube videos at the start of each class. The only thing he does now is assign material made by other professors (either on youtube or with their online textbooks). Little to no useful feedback on exams and quizzes. Dry humor too, but at least he tries.
He certainly is a character, but not in a bad way. He is knowledgeable about what he is teaching and it isn't hard to pass his class. I will say studying and knowing what the topic before a quiz is very important since we had no graded homework and all grades came from quizes and exams.
The best way to describe this guy is weird. He shows up to class a few minutes late, doesn't teach until 10 minutes after beginning of class, and has the strangest mannerisms ever. He also does most problems wrong and has to be corrected, luckily, I genuinely believe he is an easy grader. If you are a partial credit warrior, this is the guy for you.
Prof. Spradlin is definitely an odd-ball. He makes lots of references and random jokes that can be pretty odd, but never fail to lighten the mood of the class. Overall he's a great teacher who wants his students to succeed. His syllabus is fair and balanced. Generous time given to complete reasonable homework. Tests & quizzes are easy if you study.
Professor Spradlin is the absolute worst professor I've had in my three years of college, and frankly may be the worst teacher I've ever had. He writes on the board for 50 minutes straight without ever probing the class, fails to set up students to succeed on his exams, and verbally berates students in front of their peers. DO. NOT. TAKE.
Spradlin's MA243 class is a real challenge. His lectures can be confusing, and there's a heavy emphasis on exams and quizzes. However, he provides good online resources, and tools like unstuckstudy can help with study prep. Put in the effort, and you can succeed in this class.
Dr Spradlin is a good guy and he cares about student success. However, once you get into things like the Gauss-Jordan Elimination Method it is very hard to understand what he is teaching. His tests are very easy. Only ever got caught up on random trig substitutions. Just use the practice tests and you will get an A.
TAKE LITERALLY ANYONE ELSE!!! He teaches like he's reviewing for experts, his handwriting is bad, he skips steps, writes on the board without reading problems or explaining them, goes too fast, erases parts of problems when he runs out of room to finish them, and what he does write is scattered across different sections of the boards!
If you can't teach yourself, he is NOT the professor for you. I feel a little bad, because he seems nice, but he's terrible at his job. His lectures are horrible and confusing, and everything I learned came from me, MIT OpenCourseWare, or Organic Chemistry Tutor. If you need a real teacher, don't take him.
NO NO NO! TAKE LITERALLY ANYONE ELSE!!!!!! Spradlin is the WORST teacher I've ever had! There was not ONE good thing about his class/teaching
Absolutely horrible professor. Tough midterm grader, only slight relief on homework grades that count for 5% of your grad, if the answer on midterms is not perfect, expect not even half credit. Some questions on the exams do not even line up with class material, and he never reviews for any examples that are on exams. DO NOT TAKE, WAIT A SEMESTER
By far the best Professor I've had. Very lenient with grading all the midterms and final. Very easy to reach out to in office hours. I personally think people who doesn't like him may not have a good connection with his teaching style or maybe just generally bad at math. He has gone through all the concepts in class with full details.
