I had him for Human Phys & he is one of the laziest professors I've ever had. He copy & pastes pictures from the book into his slides & calls those his "notes," & just talks the entire class and expects you to catch everything. Takes weeks to post scantron test grades, & DOESN'T EXPLAIN ANYTHING. Expect to be teaching yourself from the book. Avoid.
Lazy! His lecture consist of only pictures, no description of what's going on in them. He will not take any advice or constructive criticism, no matter how nicely you ask. Get's distracted easily by unimportant stuff like old bands and TV shows. Describes stuff he later says "You won't need to know". Tips: Be able to understand books!
In short, he is a terrible professor. I had him for Bio. Foundations and he was very poor. His lectures are vague and very non-linear. He is very easily distracted and his homework does not flow with his notes even though he uses the book as a model for his lectures. Make sure you know how to read a textbook. Like really.
Just...Don't take this class
TERRIBLE. His lectures only contain pictures from the book. the way he teaches is like he is having a conversation with you and he just expects you to retain it all. You need the book because his lectures are so vague. I use the book and basically teach myself everything. Currently i have a B in the class.
The class didn't seem bad at first, but then he just got lazy and started acting like he is trying to prove something. He will tell you something irrelevant and say it won't be on the test, but on the exam there is 4 or 5 questions on the stuff that one thing he said. He also waits till the minute to post homework online and do scan tron grades
TERRIBLE TEACHER. He doesn't know how to teach. He talks a mile a minute lecturing off of a picture. Expects you to hear every word and tests you off it. He makes no sense, going off on tangents. He isn't open to suggestions. Designed his class for you to fail. Prepare to teach yourself EVERYTHING!
Was pretty confusing and changed his mind quite a bit. Would say one thing about the work/info/exam and it wouldn't be right. I also wouldn't bother trying to ask him questions or if he could explain.
Horrible professor. His lectures are not linear and have almost nothing to do with the materials that the class is tested on. The exams are on a much higher level than a basic biology class should be tested on. He's rude and condescending outside of the classroom. Easily distracted, doesn't seem to know what he's taking about.
Horrible professor. He may know the material but he can't teach it. His notes (which are just unexplained pictures with 0 words) do not match his study guides or the tests. Nothing in this class is linear. Takes forever to grade everything, is easily distracted and doesn't bother to email about class being canceled until five minutes prior.
Horrible professor. His notes are extremely vague, and then his exams are extremely detailed and specific. He is very unhelpful and rude to students. You have to teach yourself EVERYTHING. He takes weeks to grade scantron exams. He also posts homework and quizzes the last minute before the exam. Do not take his class, Take ANY professor over him.
I had Prof Tinkler for Human Phys, and although I am doing fine in the class (I'll probably end up with a B), I wouldn't suggest anyone take him. He doesn't give any notes whatsoever. He made a hard class much harder by giving you nothing to work with, I had to teach myself almost everything. He has no idea how to teach non-bio majors.
AWFUL PROFESSOR. Very unprofessional and cannot relay the information being taught in a level that can be understood. "Notes" that are just pictures and he expects you to catch everything he is saying, with half of the time he is not even making sense. The material on the exam is very detailed and much in depth, opposite of his lectures. AVOID.
Very bad Instructor!
Professor is very lazy and does almost no work for his class while he expects you to teach yourself everything. He doesn't take his job seriously. He is also very offensive if you have questions, and rarely responds to emails. Worst Professor I have had.
He is the absolute worst professor I have ever had. Avoid.
Learned absolutely nothing in this class. Changed the grading scale the day he posted the final grades. I would not recommend this class to anyone who wants to succeed.
Very unorganized. Sent about 5 emails the day grades were due because he was still trying to figure out his points and grading scale. If you want to learn and want a decent teacher, avoid this class.
Oh, Tinkles. I had him for human physiology, and I think it was his first semester teaching, so he isn't too helpful. I LOVED structure and function, but I absolutely dreaded his class. He is very frazzled and makes things difficult that don't need to be confusing concepts. He's very nice, but I will avoid having him ever again.
Tinkler is one of the worst professors that I have ever had. He spends the first 10 minutes of class trying to figure out the technology. And then he's frazzled the rest of class. He does a bad job explaining concepts in an entry level class. You will definitely need the book!!!!! I had the 9th edition and it was just as good as the 10th
I took his class online. Exam 2 mistakenly included material we weren't supposed to learn. He acknowledged the error 3 days before the deadline (once the majority of students had already taken the exam) and did nothing to correct his mistake. His notes/ lectures are completely unrelated to test material. AVOID AVOID AVOID!
Absolutely horrible professor! Avoid his class if at all possible! His lectures are very vague and make no sense, but his exams are very detailed. He takes forever to grade simple scan tron exams. He also can never figure out the technology and is extremely unorganized. My Advise: READ THE BOOK!
A good reason to register as early as possible, when it comes to taking a class with this "professor", just say no.
His bio foundations class is a very hard for some people. But, he tells you exactly how you need to study for your exams and if you do not go to class you probably will not do very well. So, if you study your in-class notes and the book you will do well. Make sure you get the clicker and participate in the class for some extra credit points.
Although Tink is not the best professor, he knows that and is trying his hardest to improve. He was also a big support when my grandfather passed. Going to his office hours is very beneficial. GO TO CLASS THOUGH. He gives extra points for the little click quizzes he does. They basically saved me.
It's the usual lecture set up, you'll get out of the class what you put into it.
Tinkler is new at KSU, like his second year. He is still improving but he is a very good lecturer. There are no surprises and if he makes mistakes he makes up for them. He worded Qs on a test wrong and gave everyone points. He typically curves too. Lecture attendance is a must, content is lengthy and hard to follow. SI is a def recommendation too.
He was an awful teacher and even though he knows what he is talking about, does not form it into a way that is understandable for students. Very inconsiderate when you email him and is not polite. He was a poor professor.
He's a nice guy really. From my experience with him the things written on here aren't well-put nor accurate. Yes, he may take time to prepare things at the start of the class and he may have some lame jokes, but overall, if you do your work, you pass. If you don't, then you don't. Simple as that. Do the clicker quizzes!! Extra-credit.
Tinkler has improved over time as regards to lecturing. He's classes happen to be hard, so expect to study for them. I studied the textbook cover to cover for his Human Physiology class, and it has helped me a lot in my upper division Nursing classes because I took something from his class. Expect to work and some extra credits.
I dont think he deserves to be rated so poorly. You must attend lectures to do well on the exams. If you study and take good notes you should do okay. He's a very nice guy and his lectures arent bad.
Tinkler is one of the worst professors I have ever had, get ready to teach yourself the whole semester. His lectures consist of slides with a bunch of pictures with very few words, he doesn't mention half the material that needs to be covered. READ THE BOOK. He also takes forever to submit his grades. AVOID if possible, you will be miserable.
AVOID! I am a nursing student. I had straight A's in bio structure and function and now am getting straight C's on every test. I am mad that I decided to be lazy and take this course online. His class and the in class option are not equal. TAKE IN PERSON with someone else. HORRIBLE NEVER AGAIN.
He's a nice guy, but his class is a mess. It's very difficult to organize your thoughts with the information he gives you in class. You must be prepared to teach yourself everything before the tests because his teaching doesn't give you half of what you need.
Dr. Tinkler, although a very friendly man, is not a very good professor. He was very unorganized and struggled with technology during his lectures. Usually he would post grades exceptionally late. His lectures didn't help prepare for his exams. However, he did offer extra credit and he had a good sense of humor.
Please avoid taking him if possible! He is a sloppy professor, he is sarcastic and tries to be humorous. He takes his time entering the points you earn.
Try to avoid. Uses lots of pictures in power points and just draws circles and lines on the slides. Unclear of what to expect on the tests.
He's a funny and really nice guy, but not the best professor. Make sure to print out the power points before class (note taking and comprehension is much easier this way). He's definitely smart and knows what he is talking about, but I never really knew what to expect on exams. Not very clear. GO TO S.I... IT WILL SAVE YOUR LIFE.
It was his first time teaching this course so my class was kind of the guinea pigs. He absolutely hates when you use your phone doing class and will call you out on it. His clicker quizzes during lecture help a lot.
He's a good person but not a great teacher. His class isn't that hard but I had to print out all the slides before every lecture because it's a lot of notes. He gives extra credit if you show up and do the in class clicker quizes which help. His tests are mainly from the book so i recommend you read & take notes. He is also bad at explaining.
When it comes down to it, he is a good guy. You must read the book in order to do great in the class. Dr. Tinkler although knows what he talks about, is rather vague. He probably lectures on half of the material he covers on the exams
He's an awful teacher
I know many people weren't the biggest fan of Dr. Tinkler, but, I really enjoyed his class. He's a chill dude. Go to his lectures, take notes, and read the book. A&P is not going to be easy, it is a subject that requires time and effort. Tinkler tests you over understand of the subject not crazy details. Plus, the man gives like 20 bonus points.
Not very good at lecturing. Powerpoints are essentially just pictures with no explanations. To pass this course with this prof, self-study is a must. If you just go off his lectures and nothing else you wont pass the exams.
Not clear, not helpful, would not recommend
Tinkler was an awful professor. Extremely unorganized, gets of topic, gives test over materials not covered in class, frequently cancels, whiny, rude, not helpful. Don't take him if you can avoid it.
VERY DISORGANIZED
AVOID TAKING ANY OF HIS CLASSES AT ALL COST! Not only are his lectures unorganized and hard-to-follow, he is very bad at explaining the material. Be ready to write because he doesn't allow phones or laptops in class. I got an A in the course because I self-taught all the material by reading/outlining the textbook. Schedule a different professor!
Let me just start by saying DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. You will be entitled to teach yourself and good luck figuring out what is going to be on the exam over the 4 chapters you covered because he will not tell you anything. The whole semester was spent teaching myself and covering every inch of the material, meanwhile majority was unnecessesary
Most difficult class I have taken yet. His lectures only included slideshows of diagrams and pictures, no notes were hardly ever provided to be copied down. Electronics were a huge no so you better bring your paper and pen and try to copy down what he says. His tests were impossible and if it wasn't for the bonus, I would've got a C in his class.
Worst teacher I've taking so far. He doesn't take attendance but gets angry if students aren't there. He gives out papers for you to turn in so if your not there good luck. You have to read the book to do good. His lecture note are not good enough to pass the exams!!
Hate is a strong wrong but he is terrible.
Tinkler is a great professor despite others comments. He is very entertaining and helps keep you engaged! The tests weren't bad if you're prepared! He always gives out study guides! He admits when he is wrong (I.e. Always asks for feedback about exam questions, if they are too hard he throws them out). He looks for the big picture!
Available to answer questions at all times. Willing to take the time to explain difficult material over and over until you understand it. Doesn't expect you to know the fine details, he just wants you to know the big picture concepts. You can't expect this class to be spoon fed to you however. You have to work for it. You have to study!
I have wrote a review on here for Dr. Tinkler in the past and gave him a rather poor rating, but I must say, after taking APII with him, he has definitely improved his teaching style. Dr. Tinkler is always willing to answer questions, is very light-hearted and positive. He gets in depth with the material and is passionate about it. Would recommend!
After he presented the notes on his power-points (and whatever I wrote down and drew), I took the homework and a quiz. I could not have been more unprepared. None of the questions were found on the power-points or my notes. The book makes everything more confusing with too much extra information. He never reviews past notes. Not taking him for AP2.
Tinkler is the type of person I would love to have as a neighbor or family friend. Sadly, when it comes to his class I feel that his exams and homework's are not true to what he teaches in class. I spent multiple days and many hours studying and would be lucky to get higher than a C on my exams. C's get degrees I suppose.
He gives you the ppts but just reads off of them. The homework and notes have nothing to do with exams.
Before taking Tinkler's class, I saw he had a 1.9 rating & I thought I was going to fail his class. I am almost done with A&P I & I think he is a nice and funny teacher. His tests can be difficult, but it is up to you to study for them. He has online homework and quizzes which are nice. DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE LAST SECOND TO STUDY FOR HIS TESTS!
He is a great professor. Knows what he's talking about. Although he doesn't take attendance, you must show up because he writes out his notes on the Powerpoints. He jumps around a lot so you have to ay close attention. His exams are pretty difficult, you defiantly have to study for them. He gives online homework and quizzes which are easy A's
Have a lab for this class? Of course you do. Get ready to be tested every week in lab on things that have yet to be taught in class. At least when you learn it in class you will be able to recall that you guessed wrong on that lab quiz, or even that lab practical. The class curriculum consistently falls behind but lab curriculum is not adjusted.
Dr. Tinkler's lectures were completely unorganized and it was not made clear what were going to be on the exams. I would study 8+ hours for each and end up with no higher than an 80 on every exam. His class was very difficult and you must come to class if you want to pass.
Dr. Greg is very knowledgeable and willing to help anyone or repeat something in class. He gives almost 75 points in extra credit (some you just have to be in class). The tests can be a little tricky but as long as you do your hw and lab, you will be fine. The tests are only a little over 50% of your grade. All around great class and professor.
Go to class and you'll be completely fine. Tinkler explains well and is happy to explain more if you don't get it in class and office hours. I thought he was a great teacher, and he's definitely improved over the last few years.
He is an amazing person, and he has dad humor. The only complaint I have is his tests are nearly impossible, I studied for each test at least ten hours and a week prior. He gives extra credit for clicker questions so go to class! This class is very hard, not just because of him. He is a cool guy, when a cellphone goes off he does not get mad.
Tinkler's lectures are all over the place, no organization whatsoever. He does not explain concepts or even terms correctly so you need to teach yourself the material from the book. His tests are extremely difficult, and it does not matter how much you study because the majority of the exam is trick questions. Avoid this professor!!!
if you are a worried pre nursing student and have a B+ all semester long... fear no more... greg is the GOAT. and gave over 2% in clicker extra credit. Strictly study in detail what he writes down in class. Tests are hard, but every answer can be found in the notes taken in class.
I found it very hard to learn anything in his class. Lots of notes to take from power points. If you skip class, most of his powerpoint are full of blanks and you won't just be able to copy them from online. Tries to be funny and is a good guy, but i never felt ready for any of his exams. All quizzes and homework were online for bio foundations
Great teacher. Loved having him. Exams are a bit tricky however.
Great teacher. I received over a 100 in his class. Just read the textbook and look over the notes about 2-3 days prior to your exam. He gives extra credit so don't worry. Trust me, it is easy.
Hands down the WORST teacher I have ever had in my life. Extremely unorganized, not at all helpful, tests over material we had never gone over in class. I am a straight A student and received a C+ in his class after trying my hardest. Gives tedious homework that takes hours and doesn't prepare you for anything. Waste of time and money
Tinkler is a good dude. Took A&P1 w/ him and taking again for 2. Tinkler himself is a living dad meme. Makes cool comparisons for material. A&P is can be difficult: Many online HW answers can all be accessed via Quizlet Take notes in his words for definitions and direct statistics. If it's conceptual, use own words
Not the best prof. He flies through the notes and the notes are VERY disorganized. Kinda rude through one on one email. ATTENDANCE IS A MUST! he writes a lot on slides and leaves a bunch blank and fills them in during class. will skip chapters and make you teach yourself. Clicker questions end up as bonus points in the end which is nice!
Dr. Greg is a great guy. I took Anatomy and physiology 1 with him and am now taking his A&P 2 course. His class isn't the easiest, but definitely not the most difficult. Just attend lecture, take notes, and study before exams and you'll be fine. Don't waste your money buying the big book for this course, you'll probably never use it.
Dr. G was an absolutely amazing teacher! He does his best to make a tough class fun(7:45 AM lecture)and gives extra credit for clicker questions. If you actually ask him to explain something further in class he does! He gives you random bonus questions in exams and while attendance is mandatory(he writes stuff on his ppts)he takes his time to teach
"On the multiple choice exams, there will be more than one correct answer; you just have to choose the most correct choice."
Don't let all of these reviews scare you too much. Dr. Greg isn't the easiest professor, and the book will be helpful. He comes off as kind of rude, but he's a nice guy. Attending class is useful because he does test on the stuff he says, and the clicker questions are extra credit. Just pay attention and study and you should be fine.
He's a nice guy in class, but if you go to him outside of class he is rude and very unhelpful. Exams are difficult and alot of the material on the exams he didn't go over that often. The lab for this class is super easy though.
A very underrated professor. Had him for Biological Foundations, and his powerpoint slides corresponded to his tests. Show up to class, read the assigned pages, and do the hw (which has extra credit). His lectures are well paced. Many underrate him because he teaches a high fail rate class, and it's many people's first college science class.
Dr. Tinkler is amazing! This class itself is very difficult, he has a lot of information that he needs to include, but he tries to make it as interesting as possible. You HAVE to go to class in order to pass, he writes in a lot of the information, but he'll give you extra credit for clicker questions and is generally a really fun guy. Recommended!!
Tinkler is a great professor. He really wants his students to do well. Attendance is extra credit via clickers. If you go to class and takes notes, it is easy to do well on his exams. There is also homework and quizzes online for each chapter. The lab for this class is fairly easy too.
Tinkler is a great guy. He knows the material and wants to make sure the class understands it. He cares about his students and loves what he is teaching. The class requires a lot of time outside of class to study but it's anatomy so I wouldn't expect anything less. He is very approachable and is willing to help as long as you make the effort.
Awful professor. Many questions on tests were not even covered in class. Does not remind you of exams or even slightly mention there is an exam coming up. Absolutely awful
Dr. Tinkler did so well with teaching the material. He made anatomy easy to understand and his exams were all based on lecture. Would definitely have him again.
Tinkler cares about policy and doesn't stray from it. This includes makeup exams, and rounding of grades. While yes he gives extra credit quite often he will NOT round grades. I was 0.05% from receiving an A. Also since he placed an exam the day before spring break I missed a trip to Europe because the makeup policy.
Tinkler's class was rough. The way he taught just did not sit with me. His lectures were vague and I definitely feel as though he didn't cover some material on the tests. The book will be your friend.
I took Tinkler in Biofoundations and honestly he wasn't a bad teacher at all. The fact of the matter is just that he teaches a very hard class. He does it to the best of his ability and I never had test material that wasn't discussed in class (though it may have not been in the lecture slides). You MUST pay attention and take very detailed notes.
Dr. Tinkler is very passionate about his subject, but isn't all that great of a lecturer (pretty much just reads off the slides). Textbook is completely optional. Overall nice guy, cracks dad jokes, not phenomenal but not awful.
Dr. Greg is very funny and he wears crocs. His class is challenging so you have to go and take detailed notes and definitely put some hours studying in. I would recommend him to anyone who's looking for a small challenge.
Dr. Tinkler is a good professor. He goes through the material very well to make sure that you get it. He also provides a lot of drawings in the course if you are a visual learner. Overall you should go to class and review the material and you should be good.
Dr. Tinkler goes over the material well and you have a lot of chances for extra credit from his home work assignments. He has a sense of humor but if you sleep in his class or do anything distracting he will stop class to embarrass you. When you have exams his study guides correlate really well with the exams!
Dr. Tinkler's class is tough, you have to be prepared to study A LOT for his exams. The course isn't impossible or extremely tough you just have to put in a lot of effort to do well. But that is what is usually expected for an A&P course.
Dr. Tinkler was a good professor but his class just wan't for me. I had him for bio foundations when I used to be a bio major and he taught very well and very thorough but I'm just naturally bad at science and no matter how much I studied I just didn't understand the material. But he was a very good and caring professor and I recommend him
Overall tinker is not a bad or great teacher, my only complaint is that he sometimes does not explain things well and in depth, I used to book to help clarify him. The test can be difficult so definitely study a lot but he trys to make class fun so i give him props for that
Tinkler will share the powerpoint but will add tons of information to each slide- I suggest printing off the slides and write in the info or just adding text boxes here and there when needed. I studied hours everyday- to some it came easy but to me it was my hardest class. Keep studying & remember at the end of the semester he give 2-3% for grade
Tinkler is an alright professor. hes very laid back and makes dad jokes. he will always help you if needed. hes not very good at explaining things well unless you ask for further explanation.
His notes at the beginning of the year were nice, but not detailed. Use the book and take your own notes outside of class. It helps a lot. Halfway through the semester he slacked hard on his notes and every single slide was literally just a picture with no explanation. Took all of my own notes.
Tests aren't easy, but make detailed flashcards to do well. Come to class. He doesn't take attendance but you won't understand the material otherwise. You don't need the book, but you need the access code for the homework. Some hw is extra credit. I'd suggest just buying that access code to save money. The book is way more detailed than the class.
Worst class I've ever taken in my entire academic life. He is not engaging with his PowerPoints or lectures. Not helpful during office hours, always seemed in a bad mood when I would go in to talk to him, and not eager or willing to help. Tests are difficult and have very in depth material that was not covered in class or even mentioned.
Dr. Tinkler is not as bad as everyone says he is. He just teaches a historically hard class. He gives study guides for every test and offers a TON of extra credit. All his homework assignments are through Mastering and if you just google the question 99% of the time the answer is in a quizlet. Putting in a little effort will get you an A or B.
I actually enjoyed Tinkler's class. He's laid back but still focuses on what he wants his students to know. Exams are pretty straight forward, biology is hard anyways but if you attend lectures regularly and do the online assignments, it's ease.
Dr. Greg is one of my favorite professors I have had so far! I had him for A&P 1 last semester and I currently have him for A&P 2 now and I love him. Attendance is not mandatory, but I would highly suggest going to class. He makes lectures interactive and adds in some corny jokes and stories to make class more fun. If you study you will be fine!!!
Greg is one of the best professors I've had. Some of the material he presents is difficult to understand, but he is super helpful during office hours. There are also plenty of SI sessions to help you get that A. Go to class, take notes, ask questions, and STUDY. you'll be fine
Really doesn't seem too interested in teaching to be honest. I took the longer class that way he wouldn't rush like he did when I took his class for 50 minutes. big mistake. He rushed through lectures and power points were all over. you really need to do your own research in the class. He also seemed irritated during office hours.
One of my favorite teachers I have had at Kent State. Had him for anatomy 1 and 2. If you need help he will always be there to help. His class was very interesting. If you study often and pay attention in lecture you will get an A no problem. Gives a ton of participation bonus at the end of the year. I definitely recommend taking him!
Greg was my favorite professor! Had him for both A&P 1/2 and got As in both. Sometimes he mumbles and rushes and doesnt clear difficult things up, but sometimes he reviews in class before exams and that helps a lot. But hes a really great person who really wants you to succeed.
Tests are super tough and detail oriented!! You really really need to study for this!! Also I didnt use the lecture book once, but you need the access code for quizzes
Horrible experience. DO NOT take this professor. Smart guy but has no idea how to teach. Will make you feel stupid for asking questions.
Easy A. You just have a lot of studying. Show up to class and pay attention to his power points and you'll be fine. He's funny but can sometimes be in a bad mood. You just have to get used to his teaching style and he's awesome. Probably one of the easiest and most interesting classes I took my freshman year.
He's a genuinely good professor. Super understanding and tries to make some of the processes "easy" to understand. SI sessions can help, but whenever I went to one, I got a lower score than when I just reviewed on my own. The material is already kinda hard at certain parts, but he tries his best. He tells some of the worst/best dad jokes.
Dr. Tinkler is one of the best professors for Biology at Kent! His lectures are easy paced and amazing and the class loves to ask questions and participate. His tests are all multiple choice and very easy. I would recommended going to class because they really help and prepare you for the exams. And the homework is online and super easy!
Likes to pop dad jokes into lectures, which ends up helping you on the test. He gives great examples on processes you're going over.
Tinkler is awesome. He teaches well, his exams are fair and he likes to joke and make the class fun. He gives tons of opportunities for extra credit. You can tell he wants his students to do well.
Great professor who is willing to answer questions. Lectures are filled with a lot of information but he does a great job highlighting what to focus on. The only hard part about Tinkler's class is the amount of information you must know for exams. Overall, Great Professor who is very personable.
I am currently a pre-nursing student and I took Dr. Tinkler for Anatomy 1 and I am in Anatomy 2 right now. I think he does a great job of presenting the material, there is a power point (sometimes multiple) for almost every exam. He is organized and knows his stuff. Anatomy is definitely a difficult class, but I found lab to be harder than lecture.
He's a good guy took his class for AP 1 and 2 and it never got easier. He doesn't have a very good teaching style.
Tinkler is an amazing professor. I was nervous about him at first but he is so understanding and helpful. He wants nothing but success for his students and I think that it's so important to have a professor like that, especially for a class that's somewhat difficult.
One of my favorite professors I've had! Very knowledgeable and takes the time to walk the class through complex topics. Cracks a ton of dad jokes. He clearly cares a lot about his students and the content he teaches. There's a learning curve with how to study for this class as there's a lot to memorize. Exams seemed to mostly be lecture content!
For anatomy 1, you defiantly have to pay attention in order to pass and it does take work to get a good grade but I think how he teaches is good and he tried to help give ways of understanding
Greg is a very nice man and cares about his student. although this class is a hard class. he is a good teacher teaching a hard topic so keep that in mind. with this class there is quite a bit of studying and "self teaching". he provided helpful study techniques and charts, but it is up to you to find what works for you to understand the material.
Rude, rather annoying guy. Class isn't too bad. Exams are challenging but there is an ample amount of extra credit to the point you can average a B on every exam and still finish with an A+. Dr Tinkler is not a very personable guy, doesn't respond to personal emails and just comes off as mean sometimes.
Tinkler gets a bad rap because he teaches a difficult course but he's one of my favorite professors. Takes the time to draw things out with you and fills in his slides in class so GO. Study hard, make sure to not just memorize but learn the processes too. Lots of dad jokes and really cares. Gives opportunities for extra credit through TopHat!
For a person going into nursing he is a great professor. He gives you a whole syllabus on how to study, take the exams, and prepare for exams. He is a great person. Class wise you have to focus and study. If you do not study you will fail. It is not that hard if you just study. The people who complain are the ones who do not study and expect an A
I had Tinkler for Bio Foundations... he is an engaging professor. Just make sure to show up to class every day and take good notes, do the easy online homework (every answer is on Quizlet), and study about 1-2 hours a week and you'll be fine. 4 exams + fina, decent amount of bonus and that's about it. Lab grade helps boost ur score in the class too
He's a decent lecturer and the content you need to know is made clear. It's hard to get a poor grade if you understand what you need to know. Lab is much harder than lecture, which I managed to do with almost no studying. Peeve: Stops lecture sometimes because people are "distracting", just causes a bigger distraction himself.
Dr. Tinkler is not the best at teaching when it comes to online school. He just posts videos of him going over the powerpoint slides and that is all the notes you get. There is no homework and you basically just have to teach yourself. The exams are super hard if you are not taking good notes. Lab is easier than the lecture. Do the extra credit!
He was good at explaining for the most point. Went into a lot of detail on important concepts. Very big on respect in the class. He wasn't really available outside of class, which some people might hate but i didnt care. overall I liked his teaching style during covid, the videos were well done but it felt like a computer was teaching us
Professor Tinkler is an amazing professor. His exams are pretty straight forward and his online lectures are always available to go back to. He updates grades and answers emails pretty fast and he is full of dad jokes. Highly recommend
This class was pretty straightforward. Put in the work and you'll get an A. He's a nice guy and jokes around a lot in his videos. Tons of extra credit, do it all. Only criticism would be that there's a lot of busywork and the exams are hard to complete in the amount of time you're given.
This class was my hardest of the semester. The material itself was fine, but the workload was hard to keep up with. He was inconsistent with the amount of lectures he would post weekly which made it hard to stay in a routine. I had the class scheduled for twice a week and sometimes have 5 or 6 lectures to watch on top of the weekly work for lab.
Lots of extra credit, do it all! The material itself isnt too bad, but his lectures were hard to comprehend at times and I felt like they didnt really match with exams. Lots of busy work. Bc of covid he reused recorded lectures from last semester so I felt like he didnt really do his part for us. Hes a nice guy though.
He's not the worst professor I've had, but definitely not easy. Since we're in the middle of COVID, his class was online. It's nice not being able to log on for a class. He usually posts the lectures a good week or so before the assignments are due. His exams however, are really tough. Take good notes. Good luck
This professor is very kind and easy to talk to. Although his class is difficult, he does a good job explaining the material and his office hours are very helpful. I would 100% recommend him!
goes over wayyyyy too many slides in a 50 minute class , to the point where you don't have time to write down the words
Professor Tinkler was an amazing professor if you're taking A&P I & II. He was respectful, always had answers to questions, or would immediately get back to you if he wasn't sure. You have to really put in the time to study his material. Exams require critical thinking!! He is tough, but the whole point is to challenge you to put ideas together
I am not a huge fan of science, and this class did not help. He was not a horrible professor, but I felt that a lot of his lectures (all recorded online for this class) were all based on people who were going to pursue a science career so I struggled. The lab, however, was taught by a TA who was very helpful
Dr. Tinkler's A&P courses are hard, but if you put in the work, you'll receive a good grade. His exams are application based, so be prepared to utilize information from his lectures. He cracks dad jokes a lot too, so lectures aren't too terrible.
He is terrible. Class average on most tests were a 60% and he did nothing to help. Most students I know are failing and he does not care. He is often passive agressive and does not try to help fix problems. Not my favorite professor at all.
I would avoid him at all costs. I had him for Anatomy 2, and spent so much time studying and still didn't do well. Class average for exams were 60% and he did nothing to help. I would not take him if you don't have to. TRUST ME. Good luck to you, if you take him.
This was the hardest class I have ever taken and I have never felt more dumb than I do after taking it. Lectures consist of him reading off the slides and you are left to figure out things on your own. I will do everything in my power to avoid taking a course like this again.
Doesn't answer emails, not flexible with extensions, very hard exams
Really good lectures, draws things out to explain the content clearly, knows what they're talking about. Online homework and exams (open note). Study the material and pay attention to lectures and you'll be fine. Very open to questions and willing to help if you ask for it. Would take this professor again.
There are a lot of notes within the class. Theses are not exactly guided notes either. They are typically a lot of writing and drawling. However the drawling is not always helpful when reviewing notes later. I recommend taking this course with a different professor that has guided notes. This is a difficult class that exceeds any other 4 credit.
Dr. Tinkler was almost completely inaccessible outside of class, Tests contain information that doesn't necessarily appear in the lecture and are usually much more complex than what he teaches. Has a 0 forgiveness policy yet makes the tests very difficult, causing several classmates and me to do very poorly on all of his tests.
If you do not need to take this class do not. what you learn is not what the exams are on. Tinkler will stop the whole lecture and class for one person being on the phone and will stand there for minutes, flashing his lights just for one person when he could be teaching, wasting time. He can be rude. I don't recommend this class to anyone.
Exams make up 50% of final grade and are difficult. 25% of your grade is online homework which is not an easy 100% as it is in most classes. The other 25% is based on lab. He makes cringy jokes and goes through slides very fast. He's very strict but at the end of the class, he added 2% to everyone's final grade.
All he does is read off the slides and expects you to automatically know terms he is taking about. Then gets mad when everyone fails when all he did was read off the slides and make things more confusing by going on weird tangents.
worst professor I've ever taken. stands in class reading off of slides that have horrible grammer. 50% of grade is tests that don't make sense and the lab is ridiculous. They expect you to know 400+ terms for a 10 question quiz and learn it in a week. doesn't give study guides and actually got in trouble because of how bad the grades are.
He is very lecture heavy, only a few hw and quizzes that aren't worth much for your grade, its very difficult to bring your grade up.
He is another professor who is sincerely a really nice guy and totally relatable and funny but his tests were extremely difficult if you were unprepared. Later in the semester he started making study guides and if you use those you'll be fine.
I like Dr. Tinkler, but I feel like he's the kind of guy you either love or hate. His coursework was very clearly defined and was easy to complete. The main reason my grade suffered as it did was because of my problems unrelated to Dr. Tinkler. Attendance was not mandatory, but go to class. And attend SI sessions.
He was very nice professer, but the way he taught he expected you to already know the material. He could work on breaking his lectures down a little bit more.
Dr. Tinkler's class is challenging, but if you put in the effort, unstuck study and other resources can help you succeed. Exams are tough, but he's fair and adds points at the end.
would never in my life recommend him to anyone, horrible teacher, takes a whole week just to put in exam grades.
He reads straight off the PowerPoints really no point of going unless he drawing on paper, he takes a whole week to put in exam grades. No study guide not even a little bit of help would never take him again.
Dr. Tinkler is a good guy but not the greatest teacher. Overall probably around 75% of the class was him just reading over the slideshows. Exams are difficult and worth a lot of your grade. Many of my friends agreed it felt like there were questions on the exams that weren't on the slides. And don't even get me started on the lab for this class.
I loveeeee tinkler. His class is hard but he breaks things down with drawings and analogies. You have to study on your own or you wont do well but that is do to the course itself. He is passionate about teaching and he is there if you need help. He is my favorite professor I have had at Kent so far!
