Very good class. Very easy if you show up every day. only have to do one individual speech and the tests are very easy. Received an A without much effort at all.

She is awesome. Take this class, you will learn more about yourself than you ever intended. If you want to succeed in the future, and learn how to get along with others, then you should definitely sign up for it. On top of that, it transfers. No matter who you are, if you show up to this class, you're bound to learn great things. Don't miss out.

Awsome teacher, very flexible and interested in your success. Will show you things that you never thought of, but that will help you forever. This should be a required class in highschool instead of speech. Everyone is going to have to interact with people.

If you're ready for an awesome class, she's the most awesome professor you'll ever have. The entire class bonds. It's a ton of fun. You learn more than you ever imagined; everyone's eyes were really opened. Come to class, think and participate and you will do great.

Gretchen is a great teacher. She is alot of fun. She listens to the students which is rare and she is so funny. I would recommend anyone and everyone to take one of her classes.

Prof. Harries is awesome! She teaches you a lot. I never missed a day of her class because it was always so much fun! I would recommend everyone to take a class of hers.

Ms. Harries is an awesome professor who makes the subject real easy and wants us to learn all the time. I enjoyed the class and all we had to was all the work assigned and show up to every class. Not that diffcult and very easy to make an "A" grade. Would highly recommend this professor for any speech class to anyone needing it for credit.

Awesome teacher, very easy. I took the online course and the whole class was opinionated. She asked us our opinions on different subjects and told us that if we completed it, it was an automatic A. There was a student shaking so bad on one of the speaches we couldn't understand him, I think he still got a B for that speach, A for the class.

Took her for honors public speaking. Was a really easy yet fun class. She is an awesome teacher.

Professor Harries is amazing! I've taken both her public speaking and speech communications classes and loved them both. Her classes are mostly interactive, fewer lectures which allowed for a lot of interaction with other students and sharing of ideas. I think she creates an ideal environment for broadening your viewpoints while having fun.

HONORS SPCH CLASS. Easy class. ALL INTERACTIVE. Speeches are easy to do because she makes everyone at EASE before speeches. I did 8-9 speeches. Half the speech is done at your desk and half the speech is at the podium. If you are one of those who NEEDS 3 tests and huge assignments to feel you are getting something out the class, move on. EASY A+

HONORS SPEECH: THIS CLASS IS EASY AND SOMEWHAT FUN. If you are looking to be a better speaker, this class may help. I wanted to be a more confident speaker and I think I may be closer to achieving that. We did 8-10 speeches. Broad range of topics discussed. Best class to do speeches if you are nervous because there is only 15 students. Easy A+

Harries is amazing! She is such a kind, vibrant women. In class we mostly conversed, and learned quite a few helpful things. Two fun presentations, and she puts you at such ease beforehand. Take her classes, you will love her.

One of the easiest classes I have taken by far! She is such a sweet and caring person, the class is not hard. Two presentations (which she makes very easy and makes sure you're comfortable with), some book work, and you're all set.

Very sweet and easygoing; she gives lots of little assignments, but they're not graded and she really just wants you to apply interpersonal skills to your life. Everyone sits in a big circle and there are no lectures, just class discussion. Definitely take this if you want a lax course and a speech class that doesn't require speeches.

Gretchen is a kind, caring professor who really knows her stuff. Classes are discussion based, but show up for the occasional notes you'll need for the final. 2 projects that are oral and rather easy if you put even the slightest effort. You'll need the book for the HW, but you don't need to ever bring it to class.

Professor Harries definitely teaches an informal class. She likes to base it more on discussion rather than work, work, work, grades, grades, grades. Just go to class and participate and you will be golden. I took this class a year ago and all I can say is MOPENESS. Remember that forever! :)

Easy A! Not much work to be turned in, she is extremely flexible and understands that every student is a little different.

Honors Public Speaking:: This was one of the most rewarding and amazing classes I have ever taken. Gretchen is very easy going and understanding. I feel like every speech class should be like this. I wish it wasn't over. Did I just say that about a class?

Gretchen is hilarious. So nice and so funny, but for a communication professor, she doesn't communicate much. So make sure you write down her lectures (which are barely given), and participate a lot. Most of her grades are participation. As long as you do the major projects and grades, you'll get an A. Super easy class.

Absolute best professor I've ever had. The BEST! It's the only class I have ever been able to make friends in. She gives us the opportunity to really open up. She is very inspirational. She really cares about her students. Attendance matters, miss, & you miss important lecture material. I wish all professors cared about their students as much.

Loved Professor Gretchen! She's a treat. She's a tough grader but loved all my work so I did well. Also, she loves helping and letting you revise and make up work. I didn't have to use this but my classmates did. This was an Honors online course and I loved it! The speech was easy and she got it out of the way in the beginning so you didn't stress.

Professor Gretchen is a great, caring prof. She really cares about her students and is passionate about teaching. Not everyone is motivated to learn and I am shocked that anyone wrote anything negative about our class. They must be making bad grades. Boring? Only if you re interested in being a better communicator. Love her!

My favorite professor so far at ACC. I've learned so much! "I" language will be used forever. Many of her lectures have changed my life, the direction of my career and my relationships. It's not exactly a hard class it's just a matter of applying what you learn to your life and that is hard. If you try, she knows and helps you. Kind, smart.

I have now taken 2 of her classes. I am find them very helpful. I am surprised that a a guy wrote such mean review. Ha! Come on, that student had a beef. I think I was in class with that guy and he was always late and then turned that around on her when she called him out on it. She is amazing. You will learn a lot & have a toolbox. AMAZING class!

She is the best professor I've had so far. She gives back honest feedback and believes in all her students. Homework every now and then but it is super easy. Passed the class with an A. Takes attendance.

Public speaking is not hard to study, its hard to do, and can be terrifying. Prof. Gretchen creates a safe, inspiring class. She gets people to open up. She is an encouraging coach. This woman is one of the greatest people i have met in my life, she has a great sense of humor and understands that students have lives outside of the classroom. Her course is very interactive but its always fun and was my absolute favorite class. I miss her has a professor and as a person. Id like to thank her for being such a great person!:)

Professor Gretchen was such a sweet and caring professor. I enjoyed writing all of the papers she assigned. The only problem is when she's lecturing it's not really lecturing more of just her rambling on and on about possibly nothing. It's very hard to follow her stories. The final is the hardest part of this class.

Professor Harries is very diligent towards her students and is very precise and communicative about what needs to be done in order to pass her class! The only con was her not posting any grades throughout the semester until the end which was nerve-racking. Other than that I would recommend her, easy A class!

During these hard times, you couldn't have asked for a more outstanding professor. Every single professor out there could learn from her. She really saved us after we quickly moved online. She developed such a community in our class before the pandemic shut our college down that the transition was seamless. She is incredible lecturer, learned alot.

It's not exactly a hard class to take, it does take guts. It IS hard to give presentations. She makes us feel so comfortable. She builds our confidence. This is an Honors course. It's a small class we became a tight knit group. ACC is absolutely so lucky to have her. There is no better prof. I had her for Interpersonal too. She is the best!

Speaking of contagions, when COVID-19 moved classes online halfway through the semester, she went out of her way to be accommodating, supportive and generous... CLASSIC Harries. I took Prof. Gretchen online during COVID-19 and she was more than understanding. She gave us endless extensions and made sure to send us reminders to keep up. The class is pretty self-explanatory. She makes you feel comfortable and doesn't want to see you fail. Don't drop her class if you have a fear of public speaking, she will make it better.

If you can follow basic directions, you will do great. Some students just do not know how to follow basic directions. The class was super easy and she really cares about her students, especially in times such as these.

The text was chosen because the author was local (money stayed in the community). As an online class, there was little pressure. We did our speeches on Flipgrid without a live audience. There was a small group project for which I recommend starting early. Overall, this was an easy class and Prof. Harries was always available to us. Choose her!

Class set up: -14 overall chapter summaries (email summaries in groups of 3-4 Chapters each) -2 pre-recorded video presentations (easy) - a few discussion board post Very flexible with deadlines if you communicate, but I never needed extensions because the Original due dates were far out enough. Easy class, guaranteed A+.

The SWEETEST professor I've ever taken. She really understands how busy students get and she never took off for late work. If you communicate with her, she'll always give you more time. There was a textbook but it was free and readily available. Lots of class work but all relatively easy, just be motivated to get it done! SERIOUSLY, TAKE HER!!

Harries is a professor that will change your life. Every prof could learn from her. She is the best that ACC or any college could offer. This class helped me in my personal & professional life. Caring, respects and gets to know her students. Weird how there are some negative reviews. A lot of people have a hard time with DLS class & blame the prof even though they don't bother logging in. COVID has made things hard. She is wonderful. THE BEST. Take her, you won't regret it. How are not all profs like her? Taken her before.

Easiest A+ of your life, truly. You can finish 1 weeks of work in like 1-2 hours. She believes that classes like this should not be taken so seriously because of the difficulty of life and other classes. There are 0 tests, 0 essay's, and 0 quizzes. The work is mostly completion as well and she's not a tough grader. Have fun!

I took her class in summer. I was so depressed those days because of other class where instructors used to talk about my poor accent, I am so grateful I took her. She has encouraged me unknowingly but in many ways. I will keep her in my mind forever because this class was Life-changing for me.

Professor Harries is kind and has an enthusiastic personality. I felt that she was quite disorganized, and most classes I was just figuring out what we need to do. However, I warmed up to her because she really takes the pressure off of grades. Her class is totally doable, and if you stay engaged the class is pretty enjoyable and learning is fun.

I took the synchronous Honors version of this class. She's an amazing and understanding teacher! I'm very afraid of public speaking, but because of how chill her class is, it was much easier by the end of the semester. There are about 5 speeches (which sounds intimidating but I promise it's not), and a group project- all pretty easy.

Incredibly kind, and very straightforward class with easy assignments. Yes, you have to speak and present several times. There is a textbook you have to read but very easy. Sometimes the assignments get confusing but she is never strict about deadlines. Lectures are chaotic but fun, I recommend for an easy A and good convo w new people!

Professor Harries is the sweetest lady I have ever met. I took her virtual speech class and she was so encouraging and patient. I barely prepared for any of my speeches and she gave me A's. As long as you pick a topic close to your heart to speak about, she will love it. She is not very tech savvy, so there's a bit of down time here and there.

The absolute kindess professor you may ever have the chance to encounter. She works with students so well to make sure the excel, where many professors will not care. Her coursework is interesting, complex, and important for real world applications. She has been so gracious with me after a recent hardship, and is an absolute gem. 100/10 course!

She is amazing! Very easy class, if you show up you will have all the information you need. She is always available to go over the material as well, and sends emails in case you missed class. The coursework is graded very easily, as speeches are pretty subjective. I really recommend, easy A.

Although I took it online, this has been one of my favorite college courses ever. The assignments don't feel like homework because they are meaningful and interesting. I got to learn about people, their stories, and their cultures. Extremely understanding and amazing professor! Really cares.

Asynchronous. Pretty easy class overall. Only has suggested assignment due dates which is nice, but be sure everything doesn't pile up til the end of the semester. Free online text, a few journals, and a few discussion posts. No exams. Very understanding professor. Just reach out if you're having issues w/ the course.
