Her teaching is good, but her test are very hard. You really have to work hard on test to make "B" grade. No extra credit. No curve

I took her for Summer I and she made the class very fun. All her tests were based on the lectures she gave. So as long as you take notes and listen to her lectures, you'll be fine! Not much reading was needed. I only needed to read if I was vague in some areas. Her stories are so funny!

Class is easy you have to be truly dumb not to get an A or B in her class. Short class, most things are ones learned in HS

I really enjoyed taking Mrs. Jackson's class for History 1301 and 1302.She makes learning history fun.(this is coming from a person who never liked history) She has a unique new teaching style. Very pretty lady. Just don't fall asleep in her class.

She was a good teacher. All one needs to do is take notes and study the notes.I also used a voice recorder that was useful when i would doze off. The reviews sheets are on point and read the book to do well on the in class book review. You do have to be serious. Everybody attiude towards school is different but if you are serious you will be fine.

Dr. Jackson - Odion is a great teacher, she gives full information on everything that you need to know aout the subject to prepare for your test, I never enjoyed history until I enrolled in her class.

She made History interesting, but it was my fault I got lower than I should. You have to read a lot in this class, but you shouldn't fail.

Dr. Jackson is a really good teacher! I do not like history, but she made it fun and interesting. She can be a little conceded at times but it is definitely worth taking her. She will help you if you need and is very excited about what she teaches. (This is always a plus)! I would definitely recommend!

She was so wonderful, she wrapped everyone up in the subject, showing the interesting intricacies of the subject. Makes the whole class seem like it can be fun, no matter what you might think.

This is a wonderful teacher!! she does a great job, and is super easy. you dont even need to open your book, everything she writes on the board will be on the test. So dont bother waisting your money. She does a great job teaching, and gets really into it. I would take her again just for fun

Dr Jackson is one of the best professors that I have ever encountered. Her tests come straight from your notes so take good notes. She hands out a study guide at the beginning of each unit that will tell you what will be on the test. She makes history so exciting!!! If all professors were like her, I'd go to school everyday!

Brilliant professor, teaches extremely well, and you learn a lot. She's very caring and helpful, gives like 4 exams only covering materials she's lectured on. dont really need textbook, her notes are the best study source there is. theres like one book review which is easy. her class is hilarious and full of energy. definitely recommend her.

i love history, but this teacher could have made it more interesting.she was nice, and taught the class well, but had an unfortunate way of letting you know your grade. she would call the highest grade first and then go in descending order. so everyone kind of knew your grade.i probably would not take her class again.

OMG! Awesome. Dr.J was brilliant by simplifn the class with the different interestn things.I took her for hist 1 and 2. In 1 we replayed the Bur, Hamilton duel with water guns. They took 10 steps n fired like they did.That was awesome n fun n I wnt forget the duel n what caused it. In 2 she played Black proud n talked about Black Power. Wnt forget.

This class was extremely easy! Prof. Jackson prepares you so well for all the tests she gives and those 4 tests are the ONLY grades for the whole class. Yes, you do need to study on your own, but she even gives you reviews for the tests. She explains everything so well, there's really no reason to make anything lower than an A, besides laziness. :)

I tood Professor Jackson about 10 years ago and she is still by far the best Professor I have ever had. She is passionate about History but she does not expect you to be an expert. Who knew the industrial revolution could be so exciting? She taught it like it was hot gossip.

She isn't a bad professor but she definitely has her favorites. Some people do ok with just the class notes but I recommend using the book. The good thing about her is if your grade is suffering she will work with you to improve it.

If I would have attended class more, I would have gotten an A. She requires you write a book review inside of class. Listen to her lectures!! The one time I tried to study with the book for missing her lectures I made a lower grade than when I used her lectures as a study guide! She makes things interesting and interacts with the class.

My favorite teacher yet! If you just listen you will do just fine. Take a lot of notes, they are very helpful on the tests. She is pretty good. I liked her she gives 5 tests and drops the lowest and then you do a written assignment that's 30% of your grade. She does like discussions and sometimes get off topic but the class still ends up being pretty fun for a history class.

Excellent teacher! Her lecture is always informative and entertaining. Only four tests (multiple choice only) and one easy book review (4-5 pages).Study guides are given out for tests which are mostly from the text. Read the text carefully and take note as much as you can, and you will be fine. Recommend!

Awesome professor. Her lectures are good so you dont want to miss. Not big in history but I liked this class. Five exams multiple choice and she gave us 4 essay questions and she let us choose two of them we wanted to write about that was good and fair. We had to do 10 articles from a ebook it was a good asignment not hard just took time.

I took Mrs. Jackson for the summer, and it seems that her summer classes are easier because you don't have as many assignments. We had four tests, that was it. Her tests are very difficult, and you will not pass unless you listen to her lectures, use her study guides, and read the textbook. She is there to help you if you ask. Not an easy A.

Love her! She's not an easy professor so you do actually have to study. True historian and does not tolerate any kind of misinformation related to history so dont try to interrupt her lecture with a biased point of view. She'll totally lose it. Tests are tough. Show up to class, take good notes and ask questions. She truly loves to teach History and it shows, she gives amazing lectures. Make sure to read the book there were a few questions on the test that were only briefly mentioned in class. There was also a project that was an easy A but time consuming. Had to visit several museums then write about it

Professor Jackson is an amazing teacher! I am an international student with no prior knowledge on African history, talk-less of American history, but she simplified it for me and made it interesting. I am so glad i choose her for History 1301. I had a hybrid class so i only had her once a week. Her system of teaching is amazing, she would lecture but you also had to do reading out side of class. If history is not your thing TAKE HER with the HYBRID version! You meet once a week and do quizzes and exams online, which means at home (with your notes). Although, the Final is in class its only based on the last chapters of the session, not comprehensive, YAY! Her lectures are great and the term paper only needs to be 3-4 pages!

she is superb

This class is mostly self-taught as you have to read the textbook to do the homework and tests. There's minimal interaction between you and the professor but she still provided everything you need to do well. She also puts the due date for everything on the syllabus so just keep up with those and read the textbook and you should be fine.

Easy to comprehend lectures, take good notes and do your work on time. 3 mini quizzes and 3 major ones, not difficult. 1 essay during the course. if you are comfortable with an online text book just buy the online access code and no book. Even though she has a strict personality she is a fair grader, gives clear instructions .

Absolute BEST history teacher ever! The first day I was sooo skeptical, but the way to explains it.. It's like you go into a trance. I LOVED taking notes in her class and going home to share what I learned with my family (And usually I hate History classes.) But she is absolutely phenomenal! I would definitely recommend her!!

When you read all these reviews saying that this professor is hard, its only because they never read, did the homework, or showed up to listen to her lectures. Very good professor for students who plan to go on to the university after HCC. A lot of students dont read play on their phones and don't take notes and listen. I absolutely HATED history until I met this instructor. Her lectures are AMAZING. She's so passionate about history which helped motivate me want to learn more history. Textbooks were used. DO the homework and ATTEND the classes and you'll pass! I was only 2 points away from an A!

This professor was very clear in their expectations for learning outcomes. There is quite a bit of reading and class participation is a must. If you do the reading and the assignments you will do well in the class. Don't get behind!

I took this class online. All of the work except the final was online. You gotta be slow to fail this class. The way some of these comments are written she's not a tough grader your writing sucks. I took the 8-week online version of this course. The online quiz and exam questions can be easily found on Quizlet. Definitely pay attention and work on that paper, because it requires research and some work. For the in-person final, study the questions from Quizlet and review questions she emails a few days in advance. That will be all you need!

I just completed her 8 week 1302 class. There is alot of reading so better not get behind. I made an A in the class. You must study for the final exam it is no joke. The exam is in person so if you dont like to study or you want to use quizlet to pass you can't. She was nice I missed a test and she let me make it up.

Just took the final exam and made a B on it and in the class. There was a whole lot of work in this half of a semester class for 8 weeks but she was reasonable. Smh dude if she was that bad why did you take her for both classes.

This was a good professor and a pretty easy class. Warning, just dont be late turning in your work. Dont believe everything people put on this because the final exam was not at central. I don't know where that came from. I took my exam online and passed.

I would definitely take Professor Jackson again. She gave the assignments and as long as you submitted them on time you shouldn't have any issues. The only way you will fail her class is if you don't do the work.

After I took this class I was mad and disappointed because I learned a lot of things that I didn't know. I am 20 years old and all the years I went to school I wasn't taught black history. I am sorry I took this class during the short summer semester. Thank you professor Jackson for teaching me my history. I wish I could take it again.

Professor Jackson is a phenomenal teacher , you will learn so much information about history and she keeps you engaged with her lectures . Shes always there to help and she responds to emails FASTT. I took this class at the recommendation of my friend and I am glad that I did. Professor Jackson shared a wealth of knowledge about African American history. Her Shirley Chisholm, sugar land 95, and Tuskegee experiment lectures were interesting. I wanted to learn more. Overall she was a great professor and the class was cool.

Dr. Odion is a good professor and a very nice lady who tries to help you and give you chances. I really liked the class. She taught the truth and certain people dont like to hear that. Those people need to just admit why they really dont like her and stop lying on her. She knows her stuff.

I enjoyed taking her class this summer! She teaches about the full spectrum of history! There was a rude student in the class who tried to give her a hard time yet she remained poised and gracious at all times. My heart goes out to instructors that have to deal with wonkey students with off the wall views. It was evident that he meant to be rude.

Highly recommend taking this Professor! She made the course very interesting and was very understanding and helpful when needed. She was always respond to emails in a timely manner. She is so passionate about what she does and you will definitely learn a lot from taking her class.

I'm not really into history and had to take this class as one of my prerequisites. Nevertheless, so glad I did and learned really interesting historical facts. You won't be bored at all in Dr. Jackson's class. She is a true gem and was always available to help. I highly recommend you take her class. She's one of the best college professors by far.
