She's patient and very fair.
she's a very good teacher!! take her if u need to take this class!
Mrs. Wygant is very good! She's super sweet and a great teacher. She wants her students to pass.
extremely nice & helpful teacher, she really takes time to explain and makes sure that you grasp the concepts.
Very nice and helpful, makes sure you understand the material, fair tests, easy to get along with.
Nice lady but has a lot of personal problems. I think she lost it the semester I took her and she made us learn the math on our own. Not paying much attention to problems the students had.
she is a nice person, but a nazi about attendance... three abcenses and you're gone. tests are graded hard and homework is overwhemlimg. nice person tho.
I have taken Wygant previously and enjoyed her class. She took time to explain everything and made sure everyone understood. Yet, this semester she let her personal problems get in the way of teaching and turned into a teacher I regret taking for math10.
Tests are hard. Shes kinda sacattered sometimes spends too much time on some things not enough time on others. Notebooks were easy as well as the quizs. I heard she was better than the other teachers who teach math for elem. school teachers.
I thought she was an easy teacher but she was unclear with some of her directions
She was scatter brained. Her class was not overly dificult but I dreaded attending.
Math 10 is a weird class. Don't take it unless you need it! Wygant really cares about her students though, and if you attend class and do the work, you'll be OK. She's the best choice for this class.
Super good teacher. Very willing to explain things and has great concern for students. If you do your best to learn she'll do her best to guide you. She has to be one of the best math teachers I have ever had and I've taken A HELL OF A LOT OF MATH!
She is a nice lady. A little scattered. I feel her homework load is way, way to intense. If you show up, and keep your notebook, and hang in there she will notice and work with you. If you need help ask, and get a tutor!
she is the nicest person if u do ur HM and do good on quizez ur okay but ask for take home quize ull love it, and ask for group test she will let u if ur class is nice and quiet. love herrr
This was the combined Math 03 and Eng M02 class. Very confussing loud class. Disorganized. Lots of work for the amount of time. Unhelpful, very unclear. I would not recommend this combination.
The amount of Homework is WAY overwhelming, but it makes sense with her philosophy of 'you'll only get it if you practice hard.' She'll do anything to help you over 'the math 3 hump.' Is familiar with learning disabilities too, and so she's patient and kind. If I pass, I'll only have her to thank.
Kinda hard class with LOTS of homework, but she's really thorough. If you have trouble with math, she is an excellent teacher to take. Boring...but excellent.
Grethe is a super nice lady. She is a very helpful teacher, and gives lots of bonus points and extra credit. If the class doesnt do well on a test, she gives back points. (ie, a 32 of 50 becomes 39 of 50). Loads of homework, but, if you actually do it, tyhe concepts start to come to you. Take it for credit no credit.
Awesome teacher. Very fair and helps you out any way possible. I suggest taking her, just always stay on top of your homework and quizzes you will do great
She is so nice and will help you out in any way possible to make sure you pass with a good grade. Explains clearly and effectively.
very helpfull with her explanations. she explains things in in such a way, that people who learn differntly dont have trouble. she is very funny and has a great attitude. i've had her for 2 classes.
If math is not your subject I don't suggest taking her. She moves along very fast, and when she explained a problem she often skipped over parts. If math is easy for you, you probally won't have a problem with her class. However if math is hard for you I would suggest taking a different teacher.
good amont of homework, but its helpful
this teacher is... *scatter brain *gives a very generous curve *hard to follow *get hyper and looses the rest of us in the dust *nice lady and fair.
Excellent teacher, very generous and fair. Home work are very helpful. She is fun and help you if you need help in math. She is the best math teaher I have ever had.
She gives out lots of points and is willing to help you get a good grade. If math is not your stronger subject i would not take this teacher. Moves way fast but does want to see everyone pass!
I had this teacher for Math 7. She was great! I studied my ass off for that class because the subject itself is very demanding. I found her very willing to slow down and go over all the steps if I asked. She answered every single one of my questions. You need to tell teachers when they are going too fast because it's difficult for them to gauge.
She is one of the best math teachers you could ask for. Math isn't particularly easy for most people but she is so devoted to educating that its impossible not to learn something. Grading is fair and she gives tons of partial credit for at least trying problems on tests. She may get sidetracked on occassion, but at least she answers the "why".
She's a good teacher that really enjoy's the subject. Other than her being a little flaky she's a great teacher that's fair fun and enjoyable.
Extremely clear professor. Always has a smile during her teachings, very clear in everything. The book absolutely stunk, and she still managed to give me the ability to master the subject. I highly recommend this teacher for serious students.
One of the best math teachers at moorpark.
She was goose.
Not an understanding teacher. Her final was so far from what we studied that I thought i was in the wrong class. Does not care if you pass or fail. Dont take her. She crams way too much together in on class too. Rushes through and expects you to learn it. There are better math teachers, if your smart you wont take her
She is easy to understand, gives examples and goes over HM in class. A very good teacher.
I hate math, but i managed to get an A in the class. Good teacher, goes over hw and any problems you have. Just take notes and do the hw.
A terrific professor. I have a learning disability and she answered all my questions in class. She never made me feel dumb if I didn't get it the first time. I will take her college level algebra next semester because I know I will pass with her as my teacher. She is my idea of what a professor should be to her students. The homework helped.
she is a great teacher. She is really helpfull and she explains everything in 5 different ways, for all the students to understand.
If you don’t have any other classes, a job or friends, then you might be able to keep up with the homework, but for the rest of us this lady is out of control. She wastes class time and if she finishes teaching in the first hour, then she will BS the next hour. take a math teacher with a "harder" rating, you’ll learn more and not waste time.
ehh i didnt like her much, she assumes the class understand everything and moves quickly. if a student raises their hand to ask a question, she'll answer it as quickly as possible ...she doesnt give enough time to explain... she'll just moves on to the next lesson/chapter... WAY TOO MUCH homework, but i guess its good if u keep up...
Nice lady. Class had a lot of HW that had to be turned in on test days. Tests were difficult, but not unfair. Seemed like she would spend too much time finishing a problem that wasn't going to help the class whether she did it or not. More helpful outside of class i guess.
Good teacher, very helpful. Has extra study time other than office hours for her students. Her tests were not hard at all and she grades fair. If you don't do well on tests, doing the homework is a grade booster that helps out a lot. If you hate homework but you're good at tests, she lets you double your quiz score and drop the HW grade.
She works fast b/c there is limited time in the semester but she does teach it well. Take notes and do the hw b/c that is a big help in grading. She gives a ton of take home quizzes and she adds lots of extra points to tests. She'll drop lowest test if you get a higher grade on the final then u did on your lowest test. I highly recommend her!
she's awesome. I couldn't pass algebra in high school; when I finally went back to school 12 years later I took her intermediate algebra class and got a B+. She really helps you to understand the content and encourages questions. She will take time after class as well. Take her for math.
She is nice, but she goes too quick, and always change books . it cost a lot! but she is still nice. so it's 5
Worst teacher ever. doesnt explain anything and expects you to "teach yourself" unfair, hard, her tests are ridiculous, the amount of homeowork she gives is a joke. if you have absolutely nothing else to do with your time, you might be able to finish the homework.
She is hard teacher but she is good and very nice. I took her for like 2 weeks but it was too much work and I was in too many classes to keep up. However, if you're willing to work she is fair and eager to help. Very nice teacher.
Tests are relatively easy if you pay attention, but TOO MUCH, I repeat, TOO MUCH HOMEWORK for her Statistics class!!!
She is VERY fair, reasonable, and passionate. People below dont mention that this semester was a late-start class,4 months of calc in 2.5 So duhhh its gonna go fast in a late start/early end class. HARD tests, but shes curves (big time),lots of HW, and majority of grade is from group quiz's and HW. Some EC (which always helps).
I am shocked as I read the other comments about this teacher. She is without a doubt the best math teacher that I have ever had. I have always struggled with math, but finally it makes sense to me, and it's because of this lady. Of course you have to work hard to succeed, but hello! You're in college. It's not hight school anymore, kids.
what a dismal math teacher. She moves at break neck speed. If you blink then u generally miss 2 sections. She moves sooo fast its insane. I would recommend never taking her because i utterly loath going to class everyday with her.
Terrible instructor. She barely covers the subject matter & gets confused. Pushes everyone to get a tutor if they want anything explained. 6-8 hours of homework per week. Tests are based on the hardest problems covered in the book. Stay away if you value your GPA or have a job/life besides Algebra. You'd learn more from an Algebra for Dummies book.
Ms. Wygant is a nice, sweet teacher. She's the kind of techer who cares and explains problems differently so that everyone understands it. Homework is assigned daily and she checks homework at the end of the chapter during chapter tests. I wouldn't mind having her as a teacher again!
She is a nice teacher, but she goes too fast. If math is not your subject you should not take her. It seems like she rushes through each chapter. I personally felt behind because she moved too fast for me.
She is a very nice teacher...she is very caring and fair..though I personally, do not like the way she teaches but if you work with the text book and do all home work you'll be fine.she gives alot of extra credit..she even gives extra credit if you write your name on the paper..
A wonderful math teacher. Lays everything out very well and is very clear. Quizzes every class, about half of which are group. Homework is graded. If you show up and do the work you will, as I did, get an A. Replaces lowest test grades with cumulative quiz grade and homework grade. Drops 3 lowest quizzes. Take this class.
25c is not an easy class, but this was a little over the top. She does drop quizzes and double counts finals, But the final was so hard and out of left field that we had one kid walk out on it, and 2 "A" kids, during the test, tell her it was impossible. I have not got my grade yet, But I am sure I will be joining some of my friends this summer.
Absolutely terrible teacher!! Signing up for her class was one of the biggest mistakes of my college career. She rushes through every chapter and assumes you understand what she is talking about. She frequently gets confused on numbers and when she asks the class if they understand she barely gives them two seconds to respond. Never take her class!
Grethe is awsome, she's so funny & a great teacher, I got a B in her class and I am HORRIBLE at math.
Overall, she's a good teacher. She spends the time to answer questions and go over homework and tests. She's a nice woman too. She gives a ton of extra credit, it's almost ridiculous. As long as you do the homework, ask questions, and study, you'll be fine.
easy and nice teacher. gives tons of extra credit. quizzes are group or open book. takes the time to go through homework and test questions. just do your homework and study and you'll be fine.
Took Intermediate Algebra with Grethe in the Spring. Excellent teacher! Very knowledgeable about the subject and explains things very clearly. The book used is crystal clear about concepts and is really useful for review or if you missed a class. The people complaining about speed are obviously in one of her late-start classes. Taking her again now
This professor is great at explaining the whole process for each lessons and chapters. You do a lot of homework for each chapter daily. Come everyday as much. The test are assortments from each chapter that will contain the main lesson process on how to solve them from each capter. Prof Wygant will advise go to the math center you should go everyti
Second class I've taken with this teacher. Grethe is very knowledgeable about Math and willing to go back and explain things if you ask her. The book she uses has nowhere near as many examples as the one from her previous class, but it gets the job done. It's too bad I can't take her a third time with Trig.
She is a great teacher. She always goes over the homework from the night before and makes sure everyone in the class understands the material before moving on the the next section. Hate math. Still do. But it wasn't as horrible with her teaching it.
It's not an easy A, but with math it never is. Prof. Wygant explains math nicely and is one of the best math teachers I've had. The online homework helps you to understand the material as well, but if you're like me you hit the wrong button at the end of a problem and have to do a whole new problem...
Just finished two semesters with her and I think she is a great teacher. She has alot of energy and really likes teaching. She is not afraid to tell the class off when nobody is doing their homework! BUT DO the HOMEWORK, she even got us free My Math Lab for this semester. Highly recommend!
I thought the class was pretty easy, but don't know if I would recommend her for people who aren't comfortable with math. She tends to rush through lessons & problems and sometimes confuse the class in her explaining. Grethe is nice & willing to help, but studying on your own and doing homework is a must, particularly if you aren't a math person
This teacher will make you use a mandatory online homework program that costs 70 dollars. It is such a hassle and an awful way to do mathematics. If you like typing math on the computer and having her watch your every move, then take this class.
Prior to taking this class I had a 3.5 gpa. She was a terrible teacher who moved at such a rapid pace a majority of the class was always looking around stumped. I do not recommend her to anyone. Take her class at your own peril. I failed her class and I am currently retaking the class with another teacher and I have an A. Go figure. Dave Weinstien
very disorganized. lectures are useless because is a horrible teacher. Used the book to study and got an A. She is a nice person but a bad teacher. Gives alot of extra credit.
The homework is out of control. Seriously, I have never spent so much time on math homework in my life.
You will spend hrs upon hrs of hw. If u get thru all of the repetetive hw, u should be ok. Teaches as if u already kno the material. Take class if you are a good self learner
BEST math teacher I've EVER had!! she really explains things and goes over them when you don't understand. always willing to go through steps of problems and offers different ways to solve them. super easy tests and quizzes. all the hw is spread out and due on day of test. she's also really funny. I totally recommend her!!!!
I took AP calculus in my high school so clearly I have a strong calc background, but this teacher was just ridiculous. the hw load was unbearable...the tests were extremely difficult and it just made me hate math as a whole. definitely would NOT recommend her.
Took Algebra 1... Teacher is disorganized and confusing... Requires hours upon hours of homework that is really useless. Would not recommend.
she is extremly helpful and makes sure you know the material needed in order to past the tests and the class. she is a great teacher and really cares about her students
She assigns a lot of HW but she requires only 80%. It only took me a few hours over the weekend to get all of it done and for you lazy people, she accepts late HW. Tests are a breeze if you go to the review the day before and cover the WS. HW problems often more difficult than tests. Quizzes are mostly group quizzes. Take her class! Very nice :)
Had Wygant twice. She's funny at times, she had us get up and stretch during a long final. You NEED to do the homework, the tests are verbatim from homework or book examples. The tests are brutal, no one walks out early. She is not an easy A, but I recommend the class if you're willing to do the work. She's nice and knows her stuff.
She assigns SO much homework it's ridiculous! The tests are nothing like the hours of homework and you'll end up very confused. She skips too many steps while teaching and expects everyone to have the amount of knowledge she has. She compares everyone to the the few who have the ability to understand math with minimal efforts.DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!
Teaches several different ways of doing a math problem and you vote on it to see which you prefer. Keeps you organized with a binder. You do the HW on MYMATHLAB which was excellent. HW was turned in at the end of the week. Very understandable and not hard at all. Do the HW and show up every day and you'll pass!
She gives so much homework it's ridiculous. She basically just copies what's written in the textbook onto the board & doesn't clarify concepts. She makes so many mistakes it makes lessons hard to follow. Everyday she comes into class so flustered and stressed it stresses me out too. Gives group and take home quizzes because everyone does poorly
For 25B she reads the book examples at you. I'm a good math student, but cannot keep up in this class. The homework takes 7-12 hours per class, so 14-24 a week. It's overwhelming, and I feel that I can't spend time on particular problems if I want to get the assignment done. If you want to learn 25B material don't take Wygant.
I wish that I had taken any other professor other than her. She was so bad at teaching us important and basic concepts in calculus that I had to go back and teach myself EVERYTHING out of the book. It's not easy to do that in every section. Don't take her for 25B. She may be good for lower math concepts, but for this she was horrible.
She is a very good teacher. Very clear to understand and will stop if you ask a question and clarify. Her pace is fast & the homework is insane. Her recommended study guides are too broad which will make you feel overwhelmed. She will teach you algebra because she knows her stuff! No nonsense teacher. I liked her.
Great teacher! She explained the concepts very well, and took the time to explain if you didn't understand. Tons of hw, but they were helpful. She loves math! It's "fun" for her when we, the whole class, try to solve a challenging problem. Shout out to Vinnie!
If you are not good at math do not take this class. You need prior math before coming into MO3 or you will do bad. She is a very sweet and understanding lady. Just teaches the class harder then it should be
Found myself re-teaching the entire class to myself. She is an awful teacher
Very friendly and approachable, puts a lot of work into her lectures in order to make them understandable. There is a lot of hw but it's Math. There's always a lot of homework. Don't be lazy.
Really nice lady, terrible instructor.
By far Wygant is the best Intermediate Algebra teacher. I went in being pretty crappy at math but her grading and teaching style made me feel like I was actually getting it. Her homework may sound like a lot but it's so easy and the points are worth it. She is also understanding, definitely recommend her if you feel uneasy about math.
