He doesn't care if you understand or not, he will keep teaching what ever is in the program. In my class only 3 students passed his class
He is not clear enought. He goes to fast!! I didn't like his class at all
He does move quickly, but that is the nature of the course. All his quizzes and tests are free-response (no multiple choice). He is extremely thorough, and I recommend him if you reaaly want to understand the subject (although it requires a lot of studying on your part). His class is not an easy A, nor is it always fun, but you WILL learn.
If you are not a "math person", then DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS. If math is easy for you, then you will understand him. The class is fastly paced, which is not good FOR ME. Many students have dropped the class. He loves math, but I think that he needs to teach at an honor's level, that way, average students can pass the class. I'm just keeping my finger
super fast! and super boring!
Super fast(so he gets lost) thinks everybody knows everything, DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!
I have always been good at math...but when I took this class I could not believe the Guillen. He was always 10-15 min late for a 9am class and he would try to continue teaching well after his allotted time. He gave quizzes, tests and graded homework assignments right after the other and it was impossible to get grades from him. He is the worst!
His notes are WAY better than the text book we were using at the time (Lial Hornsby Schnieder Precalculus 3rd edition). He actually takes his time to make sure you understand the material and finds the easiest solution to give you math confidence. Great teacher!
His class is boring and yeah is fast passed but the material is not too hard I just loose interest in a class if a proffesor is boring. I don't recommend him and yeah his always late and will keep you after class is over. don't buy the book!! waste of $$$
I would not take this guy again .. not even for one million dollars
He is the worst teacher at miami dade... just dont take him ... He uses a different book (the one he uses at FIU) because he is too lazy to learn the book our math dept assign to the course... This guy blows
I took him for Buss calc. Super easy!Just loved it. Very easy grading.
He is a relly good prof...at first i was doing really ad bcuz I didnt study...but after with his help and the math lab I did better. He is relly fast...but he explains really good. He does care about his students ( if only they put effort) overall I think he is a gr8 teacher
I had been out of school a long time and got an A just with his notes and reviews. He is boring, but breaks down the material really well.
His a good professor and explain really well. If he notices that you are working hard he will help you with your grade.
This Prof. is very thorough with his instruction of the material. You can sucessfully achieve an A simply by using his reviews and doing his homework/assignments. He is always available at the mathlab and is very patient when tutoring students who are experiencing difficulties. I really enjoyed his class and am currently taking MAC 1105 with him.
He is the best math teacher i ever had. He's would always help you if you need help. I'm taking him again next semester!
He is super nice and helpful. His way of teaching is so great. 4 tests, drop the lowest grade. i really recommend him
He is really nice and helpful. Always find the way to explain his lessons as clear as he can, and as many times as you need. Always is remaining you in everything(which is a little bit anoying). but I recomend him if you want to learn and get a good grade. Homeworks and tests are fairly.
He is the best math professor I've had. At the begining I was a little afraid to take this class, but he is awsome, forget about negative coments about him, he rules. Take him, easy A.
awesome proffessor!
He is a very easy and understanding teacher. I personally loved attending to his class. Make sure you attend all his classes because he does move very fast. If you miss class you will most likely have to ask a friend for his notes.
very good professor
He's very helpful
He is a very good profesor, make all reviews, homeworks, and be at class, that is the clue to be on track, understanding and learning math.
I dreaded math because I never had a good teacher. When I had him for Mat1033 it was so wonderful to be able to understand. He makes sure that everyone understands before he moves on. THE BEST TEACHER!!!
HE IS THE BEST!!! MATH IS NOT EASY BUT HE TRIES HIS BEST TO MAKE SURE ITS CLEAR AS POSSIBLE AND THAT EVERYONE UNDESTANDS HE IS ALWAYS IN THE MATHLAB TO GIVE A HELPING HAND WHEN NEEDED!!! HE IS BY FAR THE GREATEST TEACHER I EVER HAD!!!
EXCELLENT EXCELLENT teacher! Explains things very clearly, is fair with grading, available and friendly during office hours. Seems to really care that his students understand the material. VERY highly recommended.
HE IS THE BEST PROFESSOR,IF YOU WHANT AN EASSY A JUST MAKE THE REVIEWS AND ATTEND CLASS. I ALREADY DID MAC 1147, MAC 2311 AND NOW MAC 2312. ALWAYS WITH A FINAL GRADE OF A. JUST TAKE NOTES AND DO REVIEWS.
this professor is amazing. the best math teacher I have ever taken. If you want to learn take him.
How to say this...? He is great.
Explains material clear. Extremely helpful and understanding of anyones situation. Gives reviews before test, learn those problems and you should end up with an A. Must take
Take this professor if you can! Seriously, I never needed to open the book ONCE because he was so clear. A very nice guy and super intelligent, he is also extremely accessible. I sometimes feel bad asking him for help because I know he will help me even if he has a million things to do! One of the best I have ever had, EVER.
He teaches well - I understood pretty much everything. He drops the lowest test. Gives homework. I would honestly recommend him.
Very Clear and Easy! Con: His soft voice I couldn't stand and would fall asleep. Other than that, he is a great professor!
He's one of the most amazing math teachers I have ever met. He explains everything sooo thoroughly, and in a way that is really simple to understand. He is not pretentious, there are literally no stupid questions you could ask him,he even calmly explains some basic elementary school stuff. Also, he always finds time for students.Exams are easy, too.
HE IS AWESOME! Take this teacher for any of you math classes, you will not regret it. He is super clear, you will learn everything perfectly, he knows how to make you understand. I'm currently taking him for MAT1033 and already enrolled in MAC1105 for Spring 2013 Semester. He is the BESTTTTTTT. Take him and you'll see how wonderful he is. :)
He is the best math teacher I've ever known. I'm currently taking him for MAT 1033 and I'm already enrolled in his MAC 1105 class for Spring semester 2013. He is awesome. You will learn for sure. TAKEEEEEEE HIMMM YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT. HE IS THE BEST. I am not a math lover but i got to love and understand math while in his class :))))
First math teacher i've ever had that didnt have an accent. He's a great professor and teaches very well. You don't need to purchase the book or mathlab unless you want more examples.
He was very clear on all the contents we covered. He dropped your lowest grade out of 5 tests. He never gradede our work on time but got it to us before the next exam. He is a sweet man and no question is a dumb question to him. He will go over it many times if you need it. TAKE HIM
Good professor. All 5 exams are piece of cake. He simplified everything and made you understand with just two examples. The bad side is that the exams are never graded on time. You can go 2 to 3 weeks without knowing how you did on the test, but he always manage to give the grades before or on the date of the next exam.Though, best math teacher ever.
Absolutely the best math professor at MDC. Do your part and will earn an A, I absolutely recomend him. THAK YOU SO MUCH Professor Guillen for helping me to earn my A!!
Prof. Guillen is one of the best math professors at MDC. He covers the subject clearly and is always trying to incorporate new ways to help his students. HW = Test do them and u should pass. Also, he tries to review before test. Can't go wrong with Prof. Guillen. Highly recommended!
Nicest guy in the world, but he likes to assign a lot of online hw and its worth 15% of your grade. Test are easy if you understand and do his review. Some people only showed uo for test and he is okay with that. Drops the lowest grade. Overall a really good professor and highly recommended.
HE IS THE BEST! TAKE HIM!
If you do the hw and the study guide he gives you will be in good shape. If you redo the study guide over and over until you dont miss a single a problem you will get an A easily. The problems on Mathlab he puts for hw are straight foreward, u can just stay home and learn form them, any problems with study guide just go back to it. Easiest Calculus
He teaches as if he gets payed more for rushing through the class. his favorite line is " you should already know that, so we won't waste time review it." He is a nice guy that likes math, but he is completely unfamiliar with how to teach or simply does not enjoy it.
I don't recommende this professor for this class, he rushes through it and is does not explain things well, gives a lot of HW which is not always related to the material in the exams, his tests are hard and gives one every two weeks, I wish I hadn't picked him... have in mind that this comment come from a person who actually loves math.
all we needed was a 85% to pass with an A. I think this speaks for itself of how easy this class is. Despite being easy you do learn alot however! Office hours he is very generous and helpful. MY FAVORITE INSTRUCTOR AT MDC FOR MATHEMATICS. I'll be taking him for discrete soon.
The professor is a nice person and lives math but has a problem teaching. He over thinks what he is going to say and gets confused saying it which confuses the whole class. I learned more on my own than in class. Every time i went to class, i left more confused than how i came in. The hw is only 12% of grade his tests 8% each and final 20% each.
Do not take him.
He is a good man but he breaks down everything so much that is confusing. :(
Take him! Best professor ever!
Thought the class was going to be easier than expected. Pick another professor if you can. Good nice guy but i wouldnt recommend him as a teacher.
Don't take this class with him. Homework is no related with test. In my personal opinion this professor doesn't have enough pedagogical skill for this particular class. It's a nice person, but he doesn't lead you to learn math to a higher level
He is not a good teacher. He is very confusing and gives homework completely unrelated to the exams. he spends 40 minutes on one problem and expects you to know everything. only take him if you are good at calculus and understand the material.
Do not take his MAC1147 Class. Its just too much material and you end up covering about 4 sections per class. At the end you don't learn anything at all and you struggle in calculus. There is 8 exams in this class, an exam every 2 weeks. Now he does shift the grades 5% so an 85% is still an A and a 75% is a B. Very hard class!
i do not recommend taking to subjects in one class test is every 2 weeks you wont understand anything you'll be confuse. He's a good teacher but you'll get confuse throughout the course don't take it.
If you want to learn math, specially for higher math courses; Guillen is not a good option.Everything i learned was by myself and with tutors. He's not helpful and he confuses you. The classes, hws, reviews are different from tests. Don't miss classes nor tests. Good guy not a good professor.(sorry...not sorry.)
Nice guy but not a great teacher, especially for those who need help with math. I passed thanks to YouTube and the homework.
I got to say that this professor is excellent. He is very clear and answers questions adequately. I strongly recommend him for any math, I took him for pre-Cal and Cal 1 and i plan on taking him for Cal 2
Awesome teacher.Took his mac 1105 and 1147 class and he truly cares about his students. gives reviews before exams and tries to cover essential and important sections of the course. He is available during office hours to help, and gives you an update of your grade after every exam. For mac 1147, the final exam is not cumulative
HE IS AWESOME! HE GIVES A REVIEW PACKAGE FOR EACH EXAM.VERY EASY CLASS. TAKE HIM! YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT!
TAKE HIM! BEST PROFESSOR EVER! HE IS VERY DILIGENT! I LOVE HIS CLASS!
Super easy class!! He is a very nice guy and willing to help his students. Just study the review packages he gives you and you will get an A+++++ for sure! Recommend!!! Definitely want to take him again!
I am an engineering major so math is very important to me. I took his 1147 class and didn't learn enough. His lectures seemed confusing and many people in my class were lost. When I got to Calc 1 I had to go back and relearn a bunch of stuff from this class. I wouldn't recommend taking this class with him.
Remember it's Math! You need to do your work and believe it or not you'll get it EASY. He's one of the best teacher in MDC.
i took him this semester for trig and he is a really good teacher its not an "easy A" but if you go to class and study over the material you will be fine. i would defiantly take him again for a different math course
Grate professor. He uses to get confuse while doing exercises at board, but he is really clear and precise. Easy exams, but you have to show all your work. I would take him again.
If you're not strong in math, Professor Guillen isn't the professor for you. He's a nice guy, who you can tell enjoys his subject, but he breezes through sections as if he is in a room filled with accomplished mathematicians. He always seems to be in a hurry, and he teaches in the same manner, which is a complete disservice to his students.
Not a good professor in my opinion. I had to rely on youtube lectures to pass his MAC1147 class. The whole class was very confused in many of the lectures. Topics such as vectors, and trigonometry were made much more difficult than they should have been. He is a nice guy but not a great professor.
This was my second time taking Calc II and I learned way more than the last time. He also tries his best to help students by starting programs called PLTL where he has you practice the work from the last lecture with a qualified student and the score you get in their replaces your worst test score. Grading is beyond fair. Best math professor.
Professor Guillen is hands down one of the worst experiences I've had in my academic life. Allegedly he is "easy" for most classes but for my calc 3 class I did not share that opinion. The tests were tough in the beginning and dead gifts at the end. He made it the most confusing thing in the world and he was CLEARLY unprepared. Take someone else.
Good Professor. He was overloaded with classes this term and thus frequently late returning graded tests, so I didn't know my average when I went in for the final. Tests get harder as term goes on, final being the most difficult. 4 tests, a final, and HW. He doesn't try to trick you on the tests like others do. Allowed a graphing calculator.
This professor is by far one of the most unprofessional and dimwitted individuals I have ever encountered. He's very hardheaded and takes points off of tests for not doing the problems the way he taught them (I knew the material from earlier classes). lack of contact 5 days later I'm still waiting for a response if I were you I wouldn't choose him
Guillermo Guillen is by far the best math professor I've taken at Miami Dade. His lectures are clear and he tries to clear up any confusion one may have on the concept. His exams are pretty fair. He doesn't put anything you wouldn't know from his lectures. He also let's you know how you're doing in the class after every exam. Would take again!
This professor teaches pretty clear. But, his exams are tough, and the way he grades is tough. all test are fill in, meaning no multiple choice. and he gives points for showing work and won't give points if you don't show work.
Good professor just wouldn't advice anyone to take him if you struggled with MAT1033. Exams are all made by him which is good cause there aren't any surprises but none are multiple choice.
HE IS VERY CLEAR WHEN HE TEACHES. VERY REPETITIVE. ONLY HELPS IN HOMEWORK DURING OFFICE HOURS.
Literally one of the best math professors at Dade. Very clear during lectures and make sure the class understand the topic thoroughly before he moves on. Take him if you can.
He writes everything down and explains it all clearly. I took the 6week summer course and he was still able to teach us everything we needed to know for the exams. He writes the exams himself and there are no multiple choice questions! The exams are pretty tough. The final was the easiest (but it was still difficult). He grades fairly.
He's a nice guy but the course is very difficult. The is four exams which are long responses and you can't use a calculator. The final will be multiple choice which is a good thing. You need an access code to use the book and do the homework online. If your not good at math don't take him or be prepared to study hard.
He's a good teacher, but he talks the whole time. Even when he's done, and if there's time life he'll STILL talk, and show more problems. However, the only grades you get from his class is homework (which is done online by buying a code), and test.
He is a good weird/funny teacher . He let's you know everything two weeks or more before hand. The test are only difficult if you don't listen to him. He makes the tests he gives, and grades them with how much correct work you show. 4 test overall, a final, and online homework. PAY ATTENTION!!!
He's not a tough grader. but he's not very clear in lectures, at least for me. He's an average professor. Some like him some don't. Shy guy, he knows his math but I wouldn't take him again. A lot of Pearson online homework. All due back to back the same week.
Homework is short and easy, but he teaches differently from the assignments and the book. If you do not show your work on the tests he takes away points, but the good news is that if you at least show that you try you get some points. The introduction to each class is very long, often rambles about irrelevant subjects.
I took this professor two semester for 1105 and 1140. The first semester he was good but the second semester he was kind of lost. He seems to be alittle confusing because he sometimes thinks if he should say it or not. You might get hard time if you want to receive an A . He explains the little details on the board. Take him, if no OTHER OPTIONS.
Took Professor Guillen for MAT1033 and MAC1105 , I have to say in my opinion he is the best math professor and i will be taking him for business calculus for the fall in 2016-1, his office hours are a must if you didn't get the lesson or did poorly in a test, very motivating professor and flexible
great class
Semester went by pretty fast so I can understand why he rushed lectures and exam dates. His reviews weren't consistent with the day of the exams at least in my personal experience. Hes an all around nice guy, he knows his math. He just seems lost and confused sometimes, take him if you have no other choice.
Took his class for six weeks during summer term and got an A. That pretty much sums it up.
He is an amazing professor !! I had him for both MAT1033 and MAC1105 , he's lectures are easy to follow , if you are not understanding something he will be more than glad to help you ! Do the homework !!!. His exams are fairly easy, you just have to study in advance if you want a good grade ! If I could take him for MAC1114 I would in a heart beat.
He explains every detail in every procedure. Teaches very well. He is a nice teacher and answers any concerns you know with kindness. If you fail his class it is because you didn't try.
He is a charismatic guy and very outgoing. My only issue with professor Guillen is that he doesn't seem to prepare for class. What I mean is that very often we find ourselves wasting an hour trying to solve a problem that he proposed just to hear him say that it can't be solved with what we know.
I took professor guillen for Int algebra, colllege algebra, and calculus 1. By far the best math professor I have ever taken in MDC.
I took this professor two times. There was a big difference on the way he teaches in Spring and Summer semesters. In Spring: professor was not prepared, some review questions are on the exams, and spend too much time on 1 problem. In Summer: professor was always prepared, not many review questions on the exams, does not waste class time on 1 prob!
He's a great math teacher! He knows his math and really wants everyone to pass. 4 Exams (drops the lowest test grade), no midterm, and you have to pass the final. A lot of homework but he gives you plenty of time to complete it. No calculators. He does go off topic sometimes and we end up spending half of the class doing nothing. Overall, great!
He doesn't explain very well... He always gives to you a study guide with like 100 exercises, if you do all you are going to get an A on his test...
Great professor explains class very well just be attentive. Sometimes get off topic but he is knowledgeable of the topic.
Probably one of the best math teachers i've taken in 5 years. He's extremely detailed and really wants you to succeed. He will NOT try and trick you on tests and you can ALWAYS expect at least 1-2 questions from the study guide on the tests. If you do both the homework and study guide without cheating yourself you WILL pass.
If you do not know anything about college algebra because you had bad teachers in high school, Mr. Guillen explains everything from scratch. He is very detailed and from day one he assumes you know nothing about math. You dont need to read the book since his class is very organized and he explains everything you need to know in his lectures.
No multiple choice tests. Everything was free response. Do not take if your math skills are not the strongest. BY the end of the semester half of the class was gone. Very detailed though.
He is a very nice man, but his reviews for tests are confusing and usually do not end up on the test. The study guides are soooo long; probably about 100+ questions. Last but not least his tests are NOT multiple choice. Unless you have time to study HARD or are very good at math to begin with, I suggest you don't take his class. I failed.
He gives you so many different examples of the same topic in the review so that one can gain practice from such for the test . He takes his time to explain everything well. You have online assignments and they are due before the exams which really gives you plenty of spare time to complete everything. Just do your work, he is awesome!
In spite of all you may hear, Guillen is an excellent professor. He is a bit awkward, and people tend to focus on that, but he's a genuinely nice and reasonable guy. Attend class, pay attention, and do homework and you'll be fine. Exams are free-response but not too difficult. Good class overall.
I am really good at Mathematics
Explain concepts somewhat well, but free form part of test can be hard sometimes. To do really well in this class do all the homework, and do all 100 questions on review.
His class was difficult, i suggest you start reviewing the material ahead of time to better prepare for his tests. its a lot of content within the chapters and he doesn't really explain some topics shown on the homework. i had to teach myself sometimes because his lectures are fast and easy to forget the next day.
He is great at explaining concepts clearly and will ask any question you have. If mathematics is not your strongest subject, I suggest reconsidering taking pre-calc and trig together with him as the class is very fast paced and requires a lot of attention in order to do well.
He is an amazing professor. He is very schematic and organized. he focus on leaves every detail very clear for his students, and he always open space for questions. He cares about his students advancement and is always open for dialogue. I recommend him hundreds of times, and if I have the chance I would take another class with him.
He is amazing. He cares about his students and is very clear while explaining. His test reviews are long but the questions from the actual test are just like the review so it helps a lot. Always makes room for questions in class and is very open to talk to students after class if you need anything extra. I would take a another class with him
Exactly what you expect out of a good professor. He cares about his students.
He's not bad, he explains everything pretty clearly. However if you are not good at math there may be points when you feel a little lost, but if you talk to him during his office hours or after class he'll reassure you. There were 4 exams and the final. The lowest score is dropped. The homework was 15% of the grade, so it behooves you to do it all.
Great professor I took him for the fall semester and I wouldve loved to have him again for the spring. Out of 3 of my friends who took the same math but diff prof, I was the only one who passed and I give it all to our professors. He teaches in a way that is understandable and if you dont get it he will try his best to help you understand. Study.
He is an excellent professor, his classes go quickly, and I can honestly say I learned something every single class. His tests are exactly what he teaches, and he gives a marvelous review before the test. Very inspirational and couldn't have been happier with this professor and class overall would take again.
He explains everything and HW is pretty easy. Easy to pass
This professor helped me realize that I'm not bad at math, so long as I apply myself and have someone like him around. He breaks things down very thoroughly in his lectures, and makes sure everyone understands every step of the way. The homework does tend to sneak up on you, so be mindful of that, or you will not get the best grade you could.
He is a great professor and is very understanding and the study guides helps a lot. Just study that and you will be passing your finals with ease. There's also HW in pearson but you'll be fine. You can pass with an A
He is an amazing teacher! Would definitely take him again but under better circumstances (hopefully in a actual classroom). The test are easy and his lectures are very helpful and useful to the test. He is super nice and communicates back really fast! He honestly is one of the only math teachers that I have had who I genuinely enjoyed learning from
A great professor to have especially during the COVID pandemic. Very patient and understanding with clear teaching. Also available outside of class and responds very quickly. I get passing grades in any other class than Math however the professor did not make me feel hopeless which helped me pass the class.
Easy A. Lectures are boring but he's a nice guy.
This is the laziest professor I have ever taken at MDC. He is unresponsive to emails and offers zero extra-credit. The tests are all free-response (no multiple choice) and far too difficult for what the homework shows. The textbook was ZERO help nor was attending live lessons. I would take literally any other professor.
This was my least stressful class by far. He would always answer my emails in under an hour. His lectures were to the point and very clear. He was always available for questions. Study guides were pretty accurate to the exams, and he allows up to 2 weeks in advance to do the homework before it's due, before the exam. I am retaking him next semester
Im grateful I took his class. He is very respectful and calm to his students. His lectures are on point and his assignments, quizzes, and tests are in math lab! You would most likely pass if you take him.
The most tedious class ,this professor doesnt care about you.
This guy reminds me exactly of C3PO. He's super coy, and nice. I had him online, he recorded his lectures, was great at answering questions during class. Not tooo much homework, we used my math lab on Pearson. Hw and tests on Pearson, without being proctored, only lockdown browser. Class was manageable for someone who is terrible at math.
Amazing Professor and great class. All of our assignments/exams were on Pearson. The course semester is split: First half is Pre-Cal, 2nd half is Trigonometry. For each subject, 2 exams + final, and a cumulative homework grade. Extra credit is offered if you successfully complete a PLTL program MDC has, other than that no other credit is offered.
Awful !!!I was having internet issues the day of the exam and I asked him if I couldve started later that day ,he said no .My internet was finally fixed ,I only had 30 minutes left to complete the test,if you start late you dont have the same time as everyone else ,which is RIDICULOUS! He doesnt do retakes .Hes terrible
He's super chill and understanding of the course, teaches very thoroughly and leaves you with everything explained. Couldn't ask for a better professor.
This professor is not responsive AT ALL when it comes to emails. Sent multiple emails throughout the semester and he hadn't responded to not ONE. Good luck trying to communicate with him outside of class time. Lectures are boring. There are some areas he won't cover that will be on the test. Bad experience overall.
Professor Guillen teaches by doing problems in front of us. He always asks if we have any questions. If we do, he will explain to us until we say we understand the concept. He is really quick to answer emails about any questions concerning grades or homework. There are many tests, but if you do the homework, the tests are really easy to understand.
Professor Guillen is a fantastic professor! I had him in the fall of 2022 for MAC2311. He assigns homework weeks before tests. There are four significant tests and one final. He does post reviews which are super helpful when studying for tests. He gives excellent examples during class lectures and is always there if you need help. Highly recommend!
Guillen is a wonderful professor. He makes the test medium difficulty, by only including information in the review. He gives us all the reviews day one. His test are hard, but mainly because calculus is hard. He won't give extra credit, but as long as you pay attention in class you will pass.
Really good professor for Calc 1. Took him over the summer and his lectures were amazing. Loved the way he taught, his examples were super clear. 3 test and 1 final. They make up a majority of your grade. The rest is hw. Before every test he post a study guide (they tend to be 70-100 questions). DO THE STUDY GUIDES, IT HELPED ME ACE ALL MY EXAMS.
Great professor, gives amazing lectures and does not rush through everything.
I'm not a math person but I found his class very doable. There's a lot of homework but you have multiple tries. He's very passionate about what he teaches.
Don't take this class. Seriously. He doesn't care if you fail or pass, and the vast majority of classmates in my class FAILED. Only a handful of students actually "passed". He goes way too fast on explaining topics, & if he sees you struggle, it wont matter. Made us complete 15+ assignments online, only to have it count for ONE GRADE. DON'T DO IT!
I didn't get the grade I wanted but he's honestly a good teacher.
This professor is very nice as reviews say so. However, there's a of homework expected to be completed by the end of the semester which is great, but you're expected to study a lot because there are 4 exams including a midterm and a final, and he offers NO extra credit even if you were close to a C. If you are good at math take him, if not don't.
Professor Guillen's MAC1105 class is manageable, even for non-math people. Engaging lectures, helpful feedback, and optional textbook make this course doable. Unstuck study is a great study tool alongside the resources provided.
Good teacher overall. However, if math isn't your strongest subject, I wouldn't recommend taking him. I had to lock in during the final 2 tests and passed with a C. If you take him, PLEASE actually study. Only wish the homework was worth more. Other then that, he's a overall good professor.
He is very nice & chill BUT I don't think he cares about his students and their struggles. Even some previous reviews on here mention that & it's true. To be a teacher you must have some type of empathy. I don't know if he has that. I'll just say this, you better pass & have enough points on your own. He will not curve your grade even by one point.
Guillen is a good professor. Your graded based on a few tests and Pearson Homework and a Final. If you practice with the study guides he provides and understand the questions you will be fine. No extra credit is given.
He's a very nice professor, Since the class is online and the test are through pearson I recommend you study with the pearson homework/format to pass the tests. You are graded based on 4 tests and 2 finals a trigonometry and a precalc one, precal final is at the beginning of the semester and the Trigonometry is at the end. Not an easy A class
Very good at teaching math and makes concepts easy to understand. You'll need to study outside of class to get an A, but his study packets help a lot they have about 100 questions. He gives all homework at the start of the semester, and it's due at the end. would 100% recommend Guillermo for any math class.
Guillermo Guillen is great at his lectures, if you are great at math, I highly recommend taking him. However, if you are not, I'd go with someone else. The exams weigh a good amount and if you don't lock in (or understand,) you'll probably fail.
too hard, no curve
Professor is very repetitive with everything he says. It gets hard to be able to stay focused and pay attention after the 5th time he has said the same exact thing. He also might be blind got confused with my calculator for a phone during a test invalidated my exam and I wasn't able to pass the class after that. BEWARE he might blow up at you.
Professor Guillen is super nice, super calm, patient and understanding. His explanations are pretty clear, but in order to do well, you need to do the homework, and study by yourself. The exercises and test guides help a lot. Pay attention to class, ask questions and do the homework and you will be fine.
tough grader but a decent professor!
Nice guy but takes 10 mins to answer simple questions. Long tedious lectures - not great at explaining. Exams extremely difficult compared to hw. First exam class average was a 52% - no curve, no extra credit and exams are heavily weighted. In class paper exams.
He knows his stuff very well! MGF 1130 if you study you will pass this class he picks the easy questions to put on the test! if you are not so good at math he does make it easier to understand and if its blended doing the homework and quizzes will help with your overall score.
