Do not take her class. She has a very bad attitude towards her students. She thinks she is the best proff. on csuf and claims that others do not teach. She makes the class very hard. Even if you do take her, make sure you take only that class since you'll pretty much be spending all your time doing hard assignments, projects, etc.
Worst teacher I've ever had. Very insulting. Constantly puts students down. She's always correct, blames students for everything. Ez lectures/exs. but BAD exams. Looks down on students. Scares students away from approaching her for help with the nasty attitude. Bad-tempered. Calls us no brains when we didn't do well for midterms.

Learning environment is very hostile in her class. Like the rest had written, she puts students down, insults and blames students for everything. She's never wrong. Goes to class everyday worried if it's my turn to be picked on. Lectures and examples too ez to be helpful for the 'challenging' midterms at all. Don't miss lectures. U'll be picked on.
I don't disagree with what is said below, but I have to add that if you are a Math major and are looking to become a statistician you should take this class. It's hard but it'll help you understand and develop some of the core concepts in probability and stats. It's a good challenge. If you are NOT a Math major avoid her class at all cost!!
Take her class only if you are really smart/hardworking/have a lot of free time. Very demanding. Picks on students she dislikes. Subjective. Seems to look down on CSUF. Questioned why students would do graduate studies here. Bad tempered and sarcastic. She's one of the few outliers among the Math profs. Most other profs would be better than her.

She seems like an angry person. She is hostile, berates her students and is generally nasty. If you can take Dr. Saweris before he retires, he is much brighter than her, more helpfull and caring, but most of all he is APPROACHABLE.

She demands excellence from her students which looks like a mistake from a CSUF student :) If you are not willing to work hard it will be difficult for anyone to pass the class. Working hard is the key for this class.
the main problem with her is the bad attitude...she is always angry...she picks on and insults students she does not like...her exams are very hard...she is helpful outside of class but not many ppl approcach her cuz of her poor attitude...she also gets pissed off at her students when she reads bad reviews on this site...so this ones for her... ;)
(Fall05) Even though she wasn't as nasty, she still had a hostile attitude towards students she did not like. She embarassed and picked on them. Only likes intelligent students. Dun miss lectures. Will be targeted. Not helpful coz not approachable. Very smug, thinks herself to be better than other profs. STAY AWAY. Take other profs for this class.
I tried her for summer and even though I dropped, I thought she was fair, easy to approach and overall a good teacher. I was expecting her to be really horrible but I have to stick up for her and say that if you are willing to work and show her that she has a lot to teach.
Frist of all let me say this - she checks her ratings all the time on this site and I would not be surprised if she adds good ratings for herself out here - so watch out! Seriously the worst teacher at the university. Lec & hw are do-able, but her tests are insane!!! She insults the entire class, as an entity and individuals, as noted by her statement below. Not objective and not helful, even during office hours.
When I consulted with her to take her class, her reply was, "are you sure you want to take my class?", "I am a very difficult teacher." This should tell you all you need to know.
Good teacher, she was tough but good. Gotta be prepared for her "pop up" quizzes, no problem if you do the homework. If you do good on the quizzes, you will do fine on the exams. She has a strong accent but you get used to it. Never heard her tease any students, was funny & an kept the subject interesting. Recommend but you must work hard.
Maybe summer is too short for her to show her true colors. Nevertheless, she's an ok teacher for lectures this sem. WORK VERY VERY HARD for her class. VERY DIFFICULT! However, she's not helpful during office Got the feeling that she's sneering and thinking how stupid I was. Made me feel intimidated and didn't dare to ask more questions.

Whatever you do, avoid this prof! She told me after the second midterm that I had enough points to pass the class, and I just found out that she gave me a course grade of F because I used Minitab during the final exam when we were allowed to and then reported it to judicial affairs! Very insulting as well. Calls people retards. Do not recommend.
AVOID even if you have to come extra days to take another professor! She has a nasty and bad personality. No respect for individuals unless you are her favorite. To her, you are in idiot if you couldn't understand how to do questions. Damn insulting, very unfair in giving grades. Gives dirty looks all the time.
Dr. Alpargu is an ecellent teacher. If you pay attention and take notes, the subject matter is not too difficult. I love her sense of humor and she can really take a good joke. She knows hee statistics!!!
Very bad lectures. Goes extremely fast during lab hours. Students are so lost. Ask a whole lot of questions in quizzes. Way over student's heads. WILL WORK HARD ON YOUR OWN.
BE SURE TO STUDY AHEAD! Lectures and labs are horrible and fast. You are expected to know everything before you are taught anything. Need to be a fast learner, otherwise you'll suffer BIG TIME. Man, if she hates teaching, she should just get another job. Whole semester acted like there's a chip on her shoulder. Everything's difficult, from exams to her. She's a really nice person but a horrible teacher. She's good at what she does but when it comes to explaining it to the rest of the class, it's a little difficult to understand. She wants the class to pass though so she really does try her best to get everyone to pass with at least a C.

Yeah she knows her stuff but that's different from knowing and teaching what she knows...and she's not that good of an instructor. Way too fast and will shove the chapters in your face and expect you to be experts. Her pride is just way too strong. Not a humble person. Just avoid if possible..

I really like her! Idk what you guys are all talking about cause she is really helpful all the time, especially during the office hours. You really have to pay attention though but she'll help you pass. Take her! Cute sense of humor also :)
She is not a teacher at all. she cant teach. if you have taken any upper level classes from her you would be confused by how she teaches. seriously how can anyone teach this bad? i might seem biased but ask around poeple that have taken her 300~400 level classes. she doesnt really understand the material herself and still tries to act smart.
At first, I really didn't like her, but after a semester, she's not that bad. She gives many examples, and the homework is pretty much the examples from in class. I never bought the textbook, and still have a good grade.
Professor Alpargu is one of the Best professors I have had. She has an accent but it makes the class that much more fun. She does expect you to study study study. If you do the homework and come to class everyday, you will pass. If you are interested in what she is saying and participate she will grow to love you. I will definitely try to take her

The professor was nice and all but she sucked as an instructor, you pretty much have to depend on the book to teach yourself, I would not recommend her, and at times she does blame and sream at students for her incompetence.

Was the worst class I've ever taken because of her lack of teaching ability. I would visit her office hours quite frequently, but still was very confused on most of the material. Her tests are extremely out of left field hard and only sometimes are pulled from homework or book examples. Beware, she has to severely curve test scores. TERRIBLE!!!

She was nice, but her teaching wasn't easy to follow. She is smart, but expects students to get it and sort of gets pushy with a negative connotation if you don't get it. I did all the homework, all the projects, and failed all the tests. Something is wrong with her grading, weird, curved, secret hard to understand. Take class with another teacher.
I am currently taking the class right now...i wished i taken with another professor. She is very difficult. but also the course is very difficult. most students struggle in the material regardless of teacher. however, she goes at a very fast paced. the final is cumulative. she is very tough. she is willing to help a student until the end.

Its a pretty difficult course. She can be a little mean so if your extra sensitive don't take her, but if you don't mind shes okay.She knows her stuff and does expect you to know your 150A I went to her office hours like crazy she was very helpful. I learned, I had an A til the final and I wasn't focused at all so I bombed, I would take her again.
She can be kind of scary and she has a short temper. Her lectures aren't always clear so read the book but she is really helpful in office hours. Don't be sensitive when you go, expect to feel a little dumb but then you'll finish the problems. She is easier on upper division courses than lower division.

I could hardly understand whatever came out of this lady's mouth. A lot of kids hated her but they probably failed. I did all the HW but cheated using wolfram. SO I didnt learn much. MY highest grade on an Exam was a 37/60 and I passed with a C. She gave grades based off effort not scores. Thank GOD
Great teacher. Just make sure you don't miss class and you ask questions even if it sounds stupid. Office hours is another great way to understand the material -- take advantage and get the most help you can possibly get.
The concepts are pretty easy, but the way she explains them makes them seem harder than they actually are. The tests are mostly definitions and concepts with some math. She also lets u use a "cheat sheet for the tests". She has an accent that makes in hard to understand her sometimes. The online Hw is a PAIN. Projects and HW save your grade.
It is a hard class. If you are not a math person, do not take her. She talks down to you if you need help and has a short temper. There was a student in my class who started the class a week late and she would always embarrass him for not being able to catch up fast. Overall, bad experience.
They are very straight forward. As long as you do your work, try to Ace all quizzes and exams. Work hard. You can pass. I never got to go to office hours, I have no say in that. Don't judge a book by its cover, they are pretty patient, just expect you to do well.

She doesn't give partial credit for every problem on tests, and sometimes you don't even get points for having the correct answer. She speeds through lectures, and is not polite when answering students' questions.
Definitely a good teacher from my experience as a first yr transfer. Class is straight forward. Quizzes are straight from the homework and tests are off the quizzes and hw. She is very nice and really wants you to do well. Definitely recommend taking this class.

Dr. Bourget is a good math professor. She gave grade based on efforts, which you put in this class. Here is my tips for taking her: Don't skip class, Go to her office hour 2 or 3 times, study your homework, and Show your respect to her. Good luck.
A in math 307 and A+ in math 302 but failed in her class ( Math 335). Dont expect any problems you learn in class and hw will be on her exams-theyre all brand new. There was 10 people taking the final exam out of 25. DONT TAKE IT .
Dr. Bourget has high expectations and will lecture at a fast pace. Advice for success in this course: read the book, study her lecture notes and past exams, do the homework (even though it isn't graded), form study groups, don't miss class, go to office hours, and ask questions. Don't give up! Just stay above the mean!
Worst professor I've ever had. She left class one day for 30 mins, and told us just to run through problems we could find. One day she came in all upset about something and threatened to take 20% off all of our final exam scores based on one days participation.
This class has a reputation of being hard but Professor Bourget makes it 100 times harder. She is very rude and does not wait for you to catch up. The subject can be really interesting but she expects you to remember everything from your past classes without even taking 2 mins to review. If you can avoid this professor.
She has 4 exams and a final. She has an attitude and is condescending. She will call you out for anything. You have to show respect. Her exams had 5 questions on them so if you mess one up then thats the whole test. Her grading scale is curved a lot. A 55 was a C for her class. Her accent is hard to understand at times. Treated everyone like Kindergartners (or freshmen) when people are 20s+ with full-time jobs/kids. + Pushed political views. Tough grader. Language barrier. Not sure how she still has a job at CSUF. She grades you based on effort as said by some other students below. Attend office hours, make an effort and be respectful. I worked full time and took this course - it was tough but worth it, I learned so much. She can be very strict and serious at times, but I know that she enjoys math and enjoys teaching it.
She has a very rude attitude and gets mad if the class doesnt respond. She will call people out to answer. She reads off slides that are literally the textbook copy and pasted. Exams are 5 questions and no partial credit. Honestly try not to take her. She is hard to understand because of her accent. She gets mad for asking dumb questions.

She has no respect or understanding of the students. She gives no partial credit. The homework is easy, but the tests are hard. She chooses the most conceptual, time-consuming problems for the tests. She expects students to crane their necks and bend their backs so she can see every inch of you during the tests. She will call you out for anything.

Very disrespectful, her class went from 32 to 7 students, continually makes students feel dumb and tell them that they will fail. Very Difficult to follow lectures as her writing is bad and odd compared to other professors
She makes a bunch of mistakes during lecture, gets pissed that nobody knows what she did wrong then proceed to resolve the problem in frustration. Has little to no respect to the student who paid top dollars for her class. Gets upset when a student asks a normal/lecture related-question. I stopped wearing my seatbelt driving to her class.
If you are taking any STEM courses requiring Calc 1-3 and ODE, Linear Algebra take it at JC or with a professor you know and love. Bourget literally yelled in a students face during lecture which led to a shouting match and ended in him switching courses and her trying to report him to the dean. Avoid her like the plague, never take her class.
The homework and exams were reasonable. The prof isn't amazing. I got little value from lectures. I read (online) textbook to self teach. She's not exactly 'friendly', but I think that's alright since performance in the class will just be dependent on your practice outside of class. Just do all the problems in the book and you'll be fine.

I had a 4.0 over almost 120 units, and then I took this professor. Don't get me wrong, this is a hard class, but with other professors I would've gotten an A. Do not take her under any circumstances, she'll make you want to drop out. Daily quizzes and impossible exams making students cry as she constantly talks about things that aren't math...
Took this class with her in Fall 2019. Although this class has very little abstract material, she will make this class very challenging. Her exams were very difficult and were not similar to problems from the homework. If you want to pass this class with a satisfactory grade, attend Supplemental Instruction and watch YouTube videos. Be careful.
A crestfallen former graduate professor, she was demoted to undergrad classes because she made a whole cohort of master's students quit. So now she gets revenge by taking it out on all the undergrads who have no other choice but to take her class. Historically she has been the only one that teaches 435/438, so pray something major changes. Awful
This was not the best experience. She could be very rude and call you out for being wrong. She didn't really teach and the HW was difficult. There are quizzes every class on material that we previously learned so study hard. Avoid her at all costs. If some else is teaching Calc 3, take them. Or take it a a Community college. Don't take her.
If you can, like all the other reviews say, avoid her at all costs! Although the course seems simple, she grades and treats her students like she wants them to fail. She is very rude and will gaslight you for no reason. She will accuse people of cheating randomly and crash out randomly during class or during exams.

She is genuinely one of the worst staff members that I've ever encountered at CSUF. She is extremely rude and condescending towards students during both lecture and office hours. She often berated me when I came to help for office hours for help and did not admit when she made mistakes. Please listen to the reviews on this website and avoid her.
She had quizzes every week but didn't clarify which date. The material was heavy, so she went fast on the lectures. Beware to take good notes. Exams were also based on homework and assignments in lectures. Literally, a random question from the homework was on one of the exams. If you understand the homework, guarantee you'll do well on quizzes.
I dropped after the first day of class because: 1) 1-2 pop quizzes every week 2) 3 midterms ( ?? ) 3) Told someone if they use the restroom again they should stay there and not come back 4) Called people for yawning, or chewing gum 5) Said if she see's you on your phone you'll be kicked out of class Word count. She's the rudest instructor ever.

This is the worst proffesor at csuf is embarrassing knowing she is view as an educator. She writes as many problems as possible in the two hour lectures making hard to even comprehend the material. She makes calculus extra hard. She is very rude, does not allow phones in class or going to the restroom. Expect 1 to 2 pop quizzes a week.

My mental health absolutely declined taking this class. I have never felt more stressed in my life, dropped after two weeks in that time we had eight quizzes and she was such a harsh grader. Literally called you stupid if you didn't understand the material. 10/10 DO NOT RECOMMEND.
Awful professor, she has so much attitude and puts down every question killing any desire to learn. Graded by her quizzes and exams only. Quizzes are random and unusual. The only benefit is that there is no homework and no group projects. I would avoid her as much as you can

It is very possible to pass her class, but she makes it more difficult than it needs to be. She is kinda weird and rude sometimes in the lectures. Other times, she can be nice. Take any other prof, but if you have to take her it is totally possible to pass.

Have you ever wanted to meet Helen Keller? Because if so, take this class and meet her for yourself. You will not be seen or heard, will only communicate if she think you are cheating (you are always cheating in her eyes). Only answers questions with sass and annoyance.
Very picky grader. She has a terrible attitude towards students and demoralizes students if they aren't "paying attention". Has made very unprofessional comments and actions in class, like "I wish I could electrocute you guys when you get an answer wrong," or decided to grab a student's AirPods and put them on. I dropped after three classes when it became clear that she did not know the lecture material herself. She used post it notes, wrote key terms, and spoke in circular sentences rather than having coherent thought processes. Had us watch hours long online lectures + class. I implore you to find a professor that respects your time, instead of her.

Quiz almost every class, she will disrespect you if you don't know the answer to something. Its just not worth it

Worst professor I have ever taken at CSUF, condescending, distrustful, bitter and worst of all BORING! Daily quizzes then an hour and a half doing proofs that won't help on the exam. She is not help and gives off a vibe that makes you feel not smart when asking questions. Told the class we wouldn't make good engineers.
