This is one of the best professors that I've ever met. He is so helpful, calm, patient, and knowledgeble. His explanations are very clear and comprehensive. Take courses from him. He's an excellent guy!!!!
Hes good at reciting the material for the lecture but if you ask a question he doesnt know what to do. He will respond with a quote from the lesson without addressing the individual problem faced by each student. I personally did not like having him. His tests are wack, nothing from the book. My class average for the mid was less than 50 XD
I do not think he's as bad as those comments claim. Although he has difficulties in explaining some material (this is the case for every prof., by the way), overall his explanations are good. This class time 3PM to 6PM is ridiculous. Most of the students leave not because the prof. is boring, but they go to part time work.
It is fair to say he's sometimes hard to understand. But overall, he's fine. The student who pass this course will have a better understanding of the concepts. I failed last time, becuase I did not get the concepts properly in the class. I RECOMMEND him!
He can't make student understand the topics. His question is very confusing. If you want to pass the course, you need to read the book.
He's a very calm and a helpful prof. I was able to get an 'A' because of his help. He answered to my urgent emails very fast. He deserves a good recommendation.
Who else will send you typed, page-long answers for your questions? These answers are very difficult to type because they involve symbols. But he's an expert in this.I like him because he's VERY HELPFUL.
Alright at explaining content, very understandable. Though tests were extremely hard!
You should do fine if you attend class and do the practices and actually pay attention, very comprehensible. And the reviews he gives are awesome. It's harder to ace this if you don't do the questions or try to glide through it by the minimum. Overall, a great prof!
He is an amazing prof. even though he has an accent, it is not bad. But you will get along with it after awhile. He assigns you to do the work from the textbook in which some of the midterm questions are based on that. and he is really nice! take advantages of his office hours
He prepares you well for the exam. Posts notes you print off before each class and during class shows how to do each question from the notes. Also one of the only profs that post practice tests/exams. I personally barely used the textbook and got an A- because of his helpful lectures/notes/examples. HIGHLY recommended.
Amazing professor. His lectures are very clear and precise. The course starts off easy but if you do not attend class, practice, or participate, you will be left behind and find the material difficult. Other than this, the course is very engaging and if you put in the effort you'll do fine.
He is awesome!!! TAKE HIS CLASSES. I HAVE NO WORRIES.
This prof much better than the other stats profs i have taken in the past. I did not find his accent to be a barrier between you understanding what he is teaching. He posts his lectures, detailed lesson notes, and practice questions by each chapter and for each test. Replies to e-mails quickly.I got an A in his class. Taking him again for QMS 202.
Best stats prof ever! Lectures are so funny, makes time go by so fast. Teaches very well too. He posts a lot of exercises online for practice before tests/exams.
Provides a lot of review for the midterm and final despite being difficult as it is
This guy is alright. he posts a bunch of practise and they are very similar to the midterm/final. Go to class for calculator instructions or you are going to struggle. the people below me are not-hard working at all. do not be discouraged.
I can honestly say that he is a really good professor. Since his lectures are three hours straight, I can get extremely restless. But he does want his students to learn and is happy to help out if you have questions during or after the lecture. Also, he posts practice questions that are beneficial to everyone bc not many profs do this for QMS102
I didnt like him at first but when I started truly listening in class, i found out how great he is! He teaches in detail, always answers questions, and the best part is he always does a lot of questions from the textbook with the class. He's also always at his office during hours and is always willing to help. You just need the focus to listen.
Helps you learn the content
Great professor, really cares about his students.
great guy and amazing professor. answers your emails quickly and explains what needs to be done. you don't really need to go to class to pass as he posts everything online but its better to go in order to learn how to use the calculator. does tons of examples if you stay until the end and gives great reviews before quizzes, midterm and final exam.
It was my fist year, suck at math, but ended up with high 70s. He has a strong accent but he makes things clear and does make u understand his point at the end. Taking Again.
Best professor for QMS! His slides are detailed and straightforward. He also always stays after class to help students with any questions. Tests and quizzes are also very easy because the questions are very similar to what is reviewed in class.
Professor Warden is a great prof! He makes sure you understand everything and will stay after class to answer any questions. He gives LOTS of review for tests and exams. I would definitely recommend him.
He's a very good prof! He teaches the content in detail & teaches the calculator that is very necessary in the course. Skipping class will only hurt your mark. He goes over A LOT of sample questions during class and gives LOTS of review for midterms and final. Took him for QMS102 AND QMS202. Tests and Final are the same as his practice & very easy.
Dear first years, this guy is THE BEST statistics professor. Even if you don't attend his lectures, he provides a great amount of review materials and his powerpoint/course notes are extremely helpful. If you want an A in QMS, its all about practice. All QMS lectures are boring. The important thing is that this prof cares about your success.
dont need to go to lectues to pass. has a thick accent, but he is a caring guy. had him for qms102-and- qms202. got a 55 first semester, and a 70 second semester. just do the hw go to class and youll get a 70. actually study and youll do better
good guy overall, slide heavy thick accent. but if you put in minimal effort you can pass, and with some effort you can get a decent mark
Never taken stats before, but found him to be funny and engaging in class. Go 2 class if u never taken it, bc its super helpful w examples and explanation. Posts ppt + review, very lenient and nice when having trouble w question or module. Thick accent, but can get use to it. Don't really need to read before class. PPT is used instead of textbook
Good guy. Material is not hard. Go to class and try your best to pay attention and you will do fine. Trying to figure out the slides on your own though is not easy, so you're better off suffering through a couple boring hours than trying to figure it out all on your own. Good lectures, nice guy, 8am class so he was equally as tired but still tried
He may have a thick accent, but you will get used to it. He goes through various examples in the textbook and goes through the steps on the calculator. Provides powerpoint slides and review questions that are similar to tests and the final exam. As long as you attend class, do the homework posted on d2l, you will do well.
If you took grade 12 data, the material should be the same, this course just adds a few more stuff. Easy A if you show up to class and do the homework.
This prof probably is the only one that gives so many review packages that help us prepare for our tests and our exam. Attend class and you'll do great.
This prof literally gives out great review packages to help us prepare for tests and exams and he posts powerpoint slides and m/c exercises for you to try. He is very direct as he teaches his concepts. Has a thick accent, but you can get used to it throughout his class. As long you attend class, do the homework, you'll do very decent in his class.
Great prof! Explains concept well and has notes, powerpoint slides and review packages online.
Great prof! He clearly explains everything in class and shows you how to do the calculator stuff step by step. Posts all lecture slides, a lot of practice and review questions (really helpful to do before a test) and chapter summaries (notes). He does have a bit of an accent, and he's lecture goes a bit slow (not a bad thing if you find qms hard)
He is an amazing prof who will prepare you for tests and the exam. Go to class and do the homework, and you will do well in his class.
Good prof, good teaching method, would take again.
He is an amazing prof who prepared us for our tests and the final exam. Good solid choice!
To the students taking QMS102 or QMS202, you must take him as your prof. He's the best stats prof at Ryerson who gives us bare review packages.
Warden is a great prof who teaches really well and prepares us for tests and the final.
BEST STATS PROF I HAD AT RYERSON! He will prepare you for the tests and final if you do his review packages.
Very smart, knows his stuff. Posts a lot of useful resources online which help when making cheat sheets for tests and final. Responds to emails quickly as well. Overall good class even though I hate stats. Would take a class with him again.
Egodawatte knew we had the potential to be just like him. He was just a stats prof, but not just some ordinary stats prof, but he's a huge inspiration to many young individuals in today's society. He pushed us, and we pushed harder. And at the end, he made us transform into something we could never expect to be. A TRUE LEGEND!!
Does his best to help his students understand what is being taught. Supplies you with basically everything you need to be successful on the D2L and does a great job explaining concepts in class. I wish him the best in life.
Whatever people say about this prof, he's solid gold for preparing us for tests and the final. Don't listen to the people who are hating on this prof, they just don't listen and skip class. TRUST ON THIS COMMENT
Over rated this prof. He is a nice guy but failed to engage class
Some may find him hard to understand, some may find his teaching methods not up to par, aside from that, he's actually not a bad prof and he actually gives out bare review packages that helped for tests and final. Just come to class for the calculator steps, and do the practice questions he gives out on mystatlab and you'll do fine overall.
BEST PROFESSOR I HAD AT RYERSON, TAKE HIM WHILE U HAVE THE CHANCE
tests get you thinking so u need to know ur material. his lectures are straightforward, but makes it fun bc hes pretty sarcastically funny. very nice to point out common mistakes and shows us how to use the calculator. enjoyed his lecture making this dry course fun (plus lets us leave early). do use test viewing time to see mistakes, helps u out.
Such an amazing opportunity to be taught by the best stats prof at Ryerson. Every other profs aren't that great, he's the only one who blessed us with bare review packages and helped us succeed in this course.
Haters are gonna hate, but this guy deserves respect for being straightforward with the class materials, as well as he gives out review packages.
He's not a bad prof, he teaches pretty good and is mostly straightforward.
This prof teaches pretty well, he's straightforward and teaches the material with clarity. His tests are easy as long as you do the practice questions.
If you all have the chance to take him as your QMS prof, take him. He is by far better than all of the other stats prof. He's straightforward with his lecture and gives review packages, setting us up for success. I don't understand why people hate/dislike him. He's a solid choice and I would definitely recommend!
Genuinely cares about the success of his students. Just ask him for clarification, he is always eager to help. Just pay attention in class. Great guy overall.
Egodwatte is amazing! he has an accent but its not difficult to understand at all. his lecture slides are very helpful! i would definitely recommend practicing the textbook questions also though.
Warden is a nice guy, you do not have to show up to his lectures to do well in the course, as long as you read through his slides, purchase the textbook, read it and do practice questions. his lectures are long and boring because he is monotone and difficult to understand.
At first I hated him as a prof, but once the classes passed by, I realized that he handed everything to us on a silver platter, in this case he would make test review outlines for each test and the questions were exactly like the review. best prof ever.
In general a great prof. Will show specific examples of the type of questions that will be on the exam/tests during lectures, and focuses on that content. It really isn't the profs fault when students don't show up to class/put in any effort.
His slides are really helpful, wouldn't recommend going to the lectures unless you are lost on the course material. His review packages help a lot to do well in the tests and the exams. Only went to three lectures. Definitely take him if you have the chance and are not trying to go to class.
I will be straight up honest, you guys might find his lectures boring, but if you actually focus, the material is pretty straight forward, if you focus easy A atleast. Would suggest him if your taking QMS.
Professor Warden isnt too bad, he gives a lot of practice tests for you to do well on his examinations, and theyre pretty similar to his actual test. His lectures are pretty boring tbh and its really hard to stay awake. Tests and exam were pretty easy if you studied! Warden is a decent prof but needs to improve on engaging with his class more.
Lectures were really boring, doesn't engage with the class often. He is really nice and very considerate when it comes to asking him a question. Tests were straight forward and the exam was easy. I found 202 much easier than 102, just know how to use the calculator. Gives tons of practice tests! It's an easy A+
Goes over content thoroughly and gives a ton of practice tests. Easiest bm course this sem.
He is overrated, that final killed us all, but just work hard, and do all the practice questions.
Had this prof for QMS 102 and 202. Very nice prof. Always willing to help students. Some may say lectures are boring, But its stats lol. Gives a ton of pratice homework questions which are very useful for the tests and final exam. He clearly explains all concepts within the lectures and is always willing to clarify for any assistance.
Everything was going well in this course as I was getting an A before the final. However, the final exam was pretty hard which drastically decreased my mark. Quite a few students dropped after the second test but I would still suggest him as a professor. Put extra effort into studying before the final exam and you should end up with a good mark.
Very good prof! Knows what he's talking about! Always go to class though!
Good thing about him is that he posts many resources such as practice questions and notes on each every chapter online. It's a good review for tests and exams - makes the course much more understandable. Bad thing about him is that no one understands him because of thick accent which is why not a lot of people show up because it's boring
He's not a good prof. His lectures are super dry, long and boring. The extra resources are not too great either. Lots of dumb rules in the textbook for this course that don't apply to stats in the real world either? Overall, poorly designed course and pretty meh prof
He is a meh professor. He is famous with a lot of unacceptable rules in tests. Those rules cannot be justified according to my private tutor who has a phd in statistics.
Ton of unreasonable rules that are useless in statistics. We have to do something as a consumer. We paid to learn unreasonable rules.
Best prof ever. Handed everything to us on a silver platter. Made test review outlines for each test and the questions were exactly like the review. Explains everything very well with no confusion. However, he does have a very very thick accent which was hard to understand at first. But pay attention and you will understand him.
Whatever you do DO NOT EMAIL THIS PROF. I emailed him to confirm a time and he responded with "I think you know the answer by now".
I found him useless. A positive is he posts lots of examples and notes online however he doesnt speak English so attending lecture is a headache and pointless. Ryerson is a joke.
He's a boring speaker and doesn't speak English well at all so lectures are painful and near useless. Quite useless to email him for anything. I'm shocked by how high his rating is and I don't understand why he was hired. He just reads off the slides and forces you to purchase and online quiz thing. This guy made me lose tons of respect for RU.
The mandatory homework has many questions. For people who need more practice, he prepares a lot of practice questions which is good as a resource. He is not a nice person if you choose to email him. He does not speak English much so its difficult to understand him. The textbook will never be used. Only the code will be used for tests.
A lot of people are saying that hes a bad teacher but i disagree. During the zoom classes people dont seem to understand because they dont review before hand. Hes a really nice teacher, those who are complaining dont put in the work. He gives a lot of practice questions which is good because thats how you learn math.
Explains content very well and helps you succeed. Weekly modules were collectively worth 22% and though they were easy, they were useless for the midterm/exam because they were much easier. Make sure to do the practice questions he tells you to do and you should be good. He stayed longer after class to go over specific questions :)
Warden is a good choice. QMS110 is a hard class a review of Gr 12 Math but he gets you through it. Exam+Midterm make up 78% of your grade and Mylab 22% He is prob one of the best, he answers emails quickly and, if you email him a question he will solve it. The exam+Midterm was mainly practice test so Textbook isn't too necessary. Good to have tho.
Generally, he's a good prof but your grade relies on the midterms and finals. If you're not already good at math I don't recommend this class as most of it feels self-paced.
Generally, he's a good professor but your grade will rely on the midterms and finals. I don't recommend this course if you're not good at math as most of it feels self-paced. If you are taking this class make sure to practice and pay attention.
The lectures were confusing and the strong accent didn't help at all.
He is a decent professor. However during his lectures, it is sometimes hard to keep up with what hes doing because he uses his computer mouse on a paint program and it can get messy at times. If he used a tablet it'd be way easier (which he did once and never again). He posts a lot of material for you to practice. Do your homework and work hard.
Warden is a high quality professor who is passionate and thorough. Perhaps the best part about him is that he explains exactly how to use the stats calculator which is vital for your success in this course. Overall stats is a fairly difficult course although if you take Warden's class you will have a fairly high chance of success.
Warden is a very confusing professor. His in-class examples are never anything like the midterm or the exam. If you want to pass his class I suggest you go on this website called all things mathematics because this guy has clear tutorials on the math concepts.
Tbh I gave up in his class cause his zooms were tiring and not helpful. Its all high school stuff, like if you care enough to do the textbook hw (not just the graded work) you can easily get a 70%. Most marks are from the 2 midterms and the exam so just study the given reviews for them and you''ll be okay. Not memorable.
Seemed like a great prof, but the work given vs. what was on the tests were completely different.
3-6 hours of marked homework a week. The tests are not reflections of the homework and they are all multiple choice with confusing options. Lectures are not helpful and then the prof says we get bad grades because nobody goes to lectures when in reality all he does is read off the slides and do extremely basic questions that dont show up on tests.
The tests are extremely unfair. In the insane amounts of homework, you can get 9/10 marks on a homework question marked by a computer and do well. However, on the tests, this prof literally said "it is testing whether you understand the concepts entirely and not part of them" so if you get 2/3 parts of a question correct, you actually get 0/3 marks
The most inconsiderate professor I have ever had. Extremely rude and unprofessional.
Warden is better for QMS110. For 210 he literally reads off slides, talks more than teaching us questions and makes homework modules super long and hard 3 hours a week. Makes tests hard doesnt give part marks and says no one comes to class and doesnt curve 50-60 avgs DOESNT help for SPSS. Tutoring center staff are better at teaching than him.
Run while you can
tests did not relate to the insane amounts of marked homework given, lectures were a waste of time. I cant believe students have to pay thousands of dollars to attend classes like this profs. After taking this course, I realize that I might want to become a professor because they seem to do less work than students and get paid for it. Do not take.
don't let the 4 star rating fool you. the only thing you can take out of his class is the empathizing classmates who also have to suffer. homework is long as heck and doesn't prep you for tests. he doesn't give part marks on tests while the questions might contain of multiple steps. overall i'm glad i dropped
it's good that he let you choose group members but his instructions regarding group project is lengthy and confusing, which made him post many more announcements trying to explain the project. in the end it was still confusing bc he said one thing and another, like things in the instruction doc are different from what he tried to explain after
This prof overcomplicates everything and lectures are super useless. I don't know why he goes over teaching formulas when ultimately you have to use the calculator to succeed. Enjoy your 20-50 homework questions per week modules!
Terrible prof. Can barely talk english and his teaching is just horrific. Tests are terrible as well too.
3 hours of Mylab a week. Doesnt teach properly reads off slides, not clear for SPSS submission says one thing and asks for another. For tests if u get 1/3 or 2/3 of the question correct instead of 0.33 or 0.67 u get 0.00. Doesnt release marks to students on time. Take another prof Warden is horrible for QMS210! Better for 110!
It was a nightmare taking Qms 210 with this professor. He gives very general statements relating to questions about exams or course material. Sounds passive-aggressive when students ask questions about material taught in the lecture. Get ready to teach yourself stats as his lectures are useless for the preparation of tests. Do not recommend.
He seems like a nice guy sometimes but doesnt really like students emailing him questions. His lectures are useless pretty boring too reads off slides. Also beware of the project its common for group members to drop out and the prof doesnt care if they do drop.
Long and useless lectures and too many homework questions that are very time consuming. Tests and final exam questions consist of many parts but if you get one part wrong, you receive 0 marks for the entire question.
Do not take QMS-210 with this prof. Just finished the course in the winter of 2021 and it was the worst class Ive taken to date. Lectures are incredibly long and not very helpful, and because of this I ended up teaching the entire course to myself. If ever asked a question his responses are passive aggressive and unhelpful. Switch while you can!
In my experience Warden was a decent prof. He's patient with students during lectures constantly answering questions even if he just addressed them a few minutes back. Accent is a little tough but you get used to it. Just go to class, do the MyLabs, and then go back over recorded lectures and redo your notes + make cheat sheets and you're golden
He wont bell curve the marks even though averages are so low. Lessons are hard to follow just go with other profs.
In a middle of a pandemic, he was able to enhance my learning and make me enjoy the most out of the experience. Very good teacher 100% recommend.
DO NOT LISTEN TO THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS!! this prof is amazing and is the best for this course... he explains how to use the calculator and if you pay attention the material is simple and straight forward and you can get a 90% plus. The people that write the bad comments did not pay attention or review the slides as this course was one of the easiest
not good avoid if possible, he is a boring lecturer and does not care about his students
Relies on slide show to explain the calculator and somewhat explains in class, hes very hard to understand vocally and he does explain the concepts well though thats abt it
Not clear in explaining concepts
Not good at explanations. Tests are very difficult and close book. Assignments are tough.
The professor does not explain properly and is not concerned that students understand or not. He just solves easy and straightforward questions in class and gives way more difficult questions in exam.
His accent is very difficult to understand Sometimes it feels like he is talking to himself and does not care about the students he just explains for the sake of explanation
RATING FOR QMS 130 not 110....Trust me out of all the other QMS 130 profs he is the best option. Unlike the other 130 profs he doesn't just read off the slides, he actually goes over everything and does many practice questions with the class while teaching. You can also access him outside of class and from my experience he is understanding.
For Qms130 not 110
First time taking the course was with this prof and he sounded like an angel compared to all the previous ones. This was the only class where I attended every lecture and it helped a lot to understand the material. He always helped me thru email and was overall rlly nice
I absolutely LOVED how this prof taught. Students never really took his lecture seriously and it was evident. But if you really pay attention in his lectures, he gives the same questions in exam which he taught during the lectures as examples. GET HIM IF YOU CAN!!
A lot of people skipped his classes but if you actually paid attention to his lectures and did all the practice tests, you will do great! Practice questions are exactly like the evaluations so pay a lot of attention. He goes over the examples pretty good and is willing to answer any questions. HIGHLY RECOMMEND
Prof does not know how to teach. Says they arent paid to explain material to students.
Prof doesn't even teach he just monologues as if he is reading from a script. I'd only take this professor if you are really good at teaching yourself the course material. Made me hate logs more than EVER.
Compared to all the other profs he is the best. It's not always easy to understand his accent but he is very good at explaining if you pay attention. His tests were not bad and he was always willing to re-explain if necessary. pay attention and do the homework you will do well.(redo mylabs when studying for, he takes a lot of questions from them)
Despite teaching myself everything and only attending his lecture once, I did all the MyLab modules, homework questions, and started studying for the tests at least 2 weeks before to get a 78% in the class. If you study properly and are not lazy, you can easily pass the class with a 67%+. This class is not as challenging as everyone says it is.
Prof Egodawatte is a really good professor especially compared to the other QMS130 prof in my opinion. While his accent made it hard to understand him, he was clear and thorough about the lesson. He posts the lessons for next week ahead of time and is helpful in answering questions. Modules are very helpful for studying for the tests/exam
We had two tests hosted on campus, both on Saturdays - beware and check ahead for conflicts (Fall 2023). Up to 25% of the final marks are through online demos, which are free and a big mark booster. Lectures were paired with practice problems which are very helpful.
He has detailed slides you can refer to outside of class, gives many examples during the lecture (which I recommend staying for), and posts practice tests. Make sure to attend lectures. I would also heavily recommend keeping up with the textbook homework and trying all the questions from the practice tests.
I had him during Fall 2023 and he was amazing compared to the other professor. We had 2 midterms and 1 final along with ~25% of just free marks from homework and placement tests. However, the financial math side of things was a bit tricky and requires some self-teaching as he does not cover it fully and is not in the book. The final was the HW Qs.
Overall a good prof may be hard to understand for some, but he is clear and concise when it comes to displaying his ideas. From what I heard about the other profs for this course, he is a solid choice compared to the others.
This guy can't speak English and rushes through the lesson. No one knows what's going on or what he is saying. L mans
Retook this course due to a bad prof, and Warden really helped fill the gaps in my knowledge! He went over examples and textbook questions in the lecture, which helped greatly. Exams were a bit difficult due to limited time, and the exam questions were more difficult than the mylab, but he did everything he could to make the course more manageable.
Would highly recommend going to his lectures as he goes over how to solve textbook problems that are similar to what is on mylab and the exams. Will happily answer any questions you have and also gave us a few extra marks back for the midterms which was much appreciated. Would take again!
Engaging lectures with plenty of example problems to reinforce the concepts. Textbook and Unstuck study were helpful for studying. Tough but fair exams, better to attend class and stay on top of the material.
