Great teacher, very considerate of his students. Is open to any type of questions thrown at him. Alot of reading, but they are short readings. I'm going to take him again. Bot a B in the class.

I love Gunnar! He is very witty and smart and will keep you laughing and learning. I have taken him many times and always enjoy the text and readings he assigns. Gunnar is originally from Iceland and can provide an alternative view upon many topics. He is also a generous grader.

dude, this cat is a conflict theorist when it comes to drug use and abuse theory. so if your a conservative, you might not agree with his perspectives. still, you will learn why you think the way you do about the subject.

easy A. read, listen, and write decent, you can't go wrong. and you will learn a lot about illegal drugs. finally, he has great speakers. you must take this class regardless of your stance on illegal drugs.

He is kind of hard if you don't go to class and don't read. He was pretty clear on his lectures and made learning about the sociology of violence fun. Psychology of violence is better, though.

Haha the 1st thing I noticed was that he looked like John Kerry! class can be interesting and boring, but very easy. He gives you all the test + essay questions beforehand!

I liked this instructor! definetely, he looks like a resemblence to john kerry..his class is very interesting and explores the issues of violence in American society. No midterm, 1 short essay, a term paper, and a 55% final. he gives all the questions and answers ahead of time during the last week of class. Highly recommend!

He lijkes details on the Eassy portion of the midterm and final exams. Take your time on the multiple choice portion because he doesn't give to many questions and can make a difference on your grade (just in case you don't make all the points on your short answer and eassy questions).

Bcuz this is a theme class,if you aren't a sociology major then sum of the topics might seem new or a bit controversial. He leaves room for interpretation & his personality is funny. Really fun class and he is an easy grader for the essays. Be warned, even though he gives you pretty clear information on what the final is going to be on, its still difficult. Take really good notes and you should be fine.

This class was pretty interesting, he focused on the issues affecting our society. Attendance is taken every class session. He does cover the material for the midterm and final. The class overall was okay.

extremely easy class. he is very clear and is not a bad grader. You can miss class all you want and still pass. If you take good notes and do attend class then it is almost imposible to not get an A. highly recommend this class and other offered by gunnar.

Show up to class, do all your work do the reading and you will do fine. Class is pretty simple, he was pretty helpful to accomidating your needs. He just needs new clothes, shave, cut his hair and do something about his appearance. But besides that hes a cool teacher.

funny prof. uses alot of sarcasm. if President Bush is your idol, i wouldnt advise taking his class. cause he is a very opinionated instructor and might be offensive to your idol.

Great guy, truly likes teaching and therefore does it very well. He presents materials very clearly and makes you think. Understands how hard it is to be a student so he is not too too hard. His readings are short and very interesting. Take him if you want to learn and have a good class.

Professor Gunnar is just an excellent teacher, very dedicated. Used to prepare in detail every class. He uses insightful videos which are commented in class. He is very fair grading. Two tests and two papers (2 1/2 pages each. An advice: Do not make more than two and a half..he may take off points..highly recommended it

Good teacher who achieves a difficult task:making a class pretty easy while you still learn alot.One complaint is that he's sarcastic and sometimes rude towards students,but maybe it was because of the Lakers(he's a big Lakers fan) or that crazy woman in the class...Anyways,the movies you watch are interesting,but also really depressing.Take him!

Best teacher ever. Gives two papers that the length is 2 pages. Tells you what to write in each paper. Midterm and final. The class before each is given gives you the essay questions so you can practice and the multiple choice questions. Go everyday to class he takes attendance. Great lecturer! Had him at a 9 oclock class and he actually gets your attention with his jokes in lecture. He is also blunt, and tells you how it is. Word of advice take lots of notes because you have a final that is 50% of your grade. One assignment on violence, and a term paper on your choice of topic. If you miss class too, read the book.

Professor Gunnar is pretty funny. His class can get a lil boring because he just lectures the whole time. But he's interesting. Class grade based on 2 short essays, midterm, & final. It's good because you don't have as much homework, but then you have to make sure you do good on the assignments. I'd recommend him.

He is an interesting professor. He will make you think about what it means to be an American citizen. There is not that much work involved, but that means you need to do really well on all of the assignments and exams if you want to get a good grade. I also wanted to shoot myself for getting a "B-" because of the lack of work involved in this class

super easy. just two 2.5 page assignments a midterm and a final. but have to attend class in order to do good on the exams. he says book is needed but I only opened the book once to get a reference for 1 of the assignments. just take good notes and you're good!

Readings are not really required but you need to know what's in the material to pass his exams. There are 2 exams and 2 short papers. He treats you like an adult and doesn't take attendance, but you shouldn't miss class if you don't do the reading. He has a very dry sense of humor which I love and it makes his lectures great. Very knowledgeable.

Gunner is an excellent professor, probably the best in sociology! He may seem strict and sarcastic, but flexible with students. He knows a lot for the lectures, but be sure to read the textbook if you truly want to ace his tests and essays. He does tell you ahead on what would be covered on the tests though. Glad to be in his class!

His lectures were basically him just talking over concepts from the book. Pretty boring but a very easy A. There are two tests and two papers. If you get a good grade on the first paper, you can double that grade without writing the second one. Goes over everything that will be on the test before.

Without a doubt, he is of the best professors in California State University. I did not receive an A+ grade in his class, but what I learned was way more important than what I received as a grade. He is very smart, funny, caring, and knows very well, how to make the class and the topics discussed interesting.

Gunnar is the professor that I think everyone would like. Lectures can be boring, however the info is easily found in the book. Two papers, one was optional, midterm and final. He can be rather funny at times and enjoys teaching. Hates phones, but doesn't mind laptops if it's not obvious you're not taking notes.

Prof. Valgeirssons class is not hard at all. He gives 1 hw and 1 extra credit assignment all semester, plus the midterm and final. Attendance is not mandatory but I do suggest attending all the lectures because what he talks about in class is what will be on the exams.

Great professor! Doesn't have zoom meetings but is willing to hear students input on that. Instead he has weekly chats where you can ask questions and discuss the chapter. There is lots of reading. But if you read his typed lectures you will do great on the 2 exams. There are 2 assignments but one is optional.

During my term with him, his mom sadly passed & he still showed up to class cracking jokes. ;') Then I got a job couldn't make it to class anymore, he was so understanding told me as long as I took the final I would be okay. I only did one writing assignment & final (easy) & passed the class with A- Good attendance helps your grade. Def Take him!

2 essays, 1 midterm, and 1 final. Both exams had an essay portion to it, 350 words each. Strict on word count, will dock you points if you write more. He lets you pre-write the essay before the exams. The exams are at ridiculous times, early in the morning and he does not mention this on the syllabus. He is a jerk through email. Read the book.
