He is ok,but test is hard than others. I think he can be a good instroctor in ELAC. Right now he is vice chairman in Math Department.
Wish he was retired. He sucks at this job. You wont learn one bit. Too old. Talks slow. Warning: Do not take him you are planning on going to higher math , because you will enroll not knowing nothing.
I don't agree with the downstair guy. Mr Liao tought very clearly. You can learning many detail about mathematic on his any level class. His class is hard (should be honor class). Anyway, if you study hard on his class, you should be get better grade.
This guy is a true example of how students pass through the system and learn nothing. He places personal convenience (multiple choice math tests) over understanding and learning. It really scares me that he's vice chairman.
Hope him to give us the easy tests and final~
Good for us!

BEST MATH TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD AT ELAC. MAKES IT REALLY EASY TO PASS. I SHOULD HAVE TAKEN THIS GUY FROM THE BEGINNING FOR EVERY MATH CLASS. HE'S REALLY NICE AND VERY HELPFULL.FUNNY GUY TOO. HE GIVES SAMPLE TESTS TO STUDY FOR THE EXAMS AND EXAM QUESTIONS ARE ALMOST THE SAME AS ON THE SAMPLE.
I knew from like the first hour of class that I was not going to learn anything from this guy. If you want to pass easily and you are like those people who say "I will never use these stuff in my life", I suggest taking him. I wouldn't take him again, and how much can you learn from scantron tests?
great teacher. easy to pass
Best math teacher here. Most math prof. are pretty arrogant who always have to prove they're smarter than you with their "AHA!! problems.Mr.L.taught me the algebra that will stick with me forever. For those students not satisfied w/him, you had the option to drop or transfer.
Easy class to take, but the lectures are boring!!! only 5 tests same as the sample he gives you.
Good for us!
even though his lectures were boring, i still liked his class.
Great teacher, that's all I got to say.
Instructor obviously loves math, your question is throughly worked-out, instructor just will not give up trying to make material understandable-as long as you keep trying.
Good Lord, he takes a point off for every damn mistake, then the final is what makes your grade!! Don't think just cause you got A's on the quizes you'll get an A as your grade, heck no the final sucks and it determines your grade!!
I heard about his easiness so I got out of Powell's class to take this loser. He is one of the worst professors I've ever had. On top of that, he is boring, has no passion for the subject, and hardly assigns any homework. Worst of all, if u want to pass, you literally have to do every problem in the book. LITERALLY. Don't make the same mistake.
Hw assiments is a must for him. You must do 'em or else he takes off pts. I like how there r pratice tests for every chapter. Just pay attention during class n do the examples. you will pass =)
Okay Okay, so he is good for low levels of math but save yourself a semester and take the class with a teacher that you know will definitely not just pass you, but teach you something. In his class, you will not sense any excitement for the topic. Claculus is quite fun, but you need the right teacher. He sucks!
Nice instrutor
Best ELAC Math Professor!!! MR.L makes Calculus fun and exciting. U will especially enjoy when he covers differentiation and intergration of logarithimic... circular and hyperbolic funtions and their inverses are the BEST!!!!
easy test but hard exam, attendant not helpful yr grade, he is cool, 89.99 is B , he told me
Awesome
he is good,easy !i always feel relaxed~
good teacher! very easy to get A! but his class is sooo..... you got to study before exam
He's hard to hear because he speaks so low. His lectures are fast and if you ask for help he won't give you a good explanation. Doesn't seem to care and help his students. I asked for help and I couldn't understand it and he didn't continue to help, he just walked away and told me to pay attention.
easy but boring. do your homework, pratice on sample exams - should get an A.
seriously need to do some crowd control b/c kids in the back kept yapping the whole semester through. think twice when asking questions b/c he will totally humiliate you if he finds the question stupid. took this during summer and He takes long long breaks so he could keep us until the assigned end time. besides these, he grades fair.
he's a very good teacher~very easy~
good teacher and easy teacher. If you are not Chinese, do not take it. because you will feel very hard to study.
He's very cool. Leaves you alone. Just do your work!
He is nice teacher, just do ur work, turn in a the homeworks, then u will get an A. Easy testssssssss..
His accent's pretty heavy, but it's not hard to get through it. HW due on thursdays, tests on wednesdays (and he actually looks at the work you do on tests, so he'll give you some pts even tho your answer was wrong). He also drops the lowest chapter test score... He's pretty mild mannered, so he won't bother you. Just do work and you'll be fine! :)
Very easy math teacher, he tells u exactly what he wants from you. He gives out practice exams with almost identical problems that are on the exam. Drops the lowest test score. This once he found me playing with my ds in class and didn't tell me anything...haha. Great Teacher. As long as you do your work, ur ok!
He was my first ever Math teacher at ELAC.I got an A. All wht you have to do is to do your homework well and turn that intime. Exams are very very easy, final exams are even easier. He gives you study guides and those Qs will equally help you in your finals. Clrity wise, if you consider me,, Im an International student, but not Chinese.still i mngd
Long breaks and gives you every equation you need for a test. Very clear, aside from needing to write word for word on the word problems for HW. I just talked every class and never paid attention and still got a B. Probably the easiest math teacher here.
A very nice teacher. As long as u get the homeworks and do them all, u'll be fine. He gives study guides for tests and exams and those study guides are almost similar to those in tests and exams.
Has a pretty heavy accent, sit in the front of the class or else you won't be able to hear him and you will just lose interest. He is rather difficult, but if you're pretty confident in math then you should be okay. Do the HW correctly, and he doesn't really answer question in class very well, so either go to the Tutor Center or see him after class
mr liao knows math. he lacks clear explanation of the subject matter. he is short tempered when it comes to a questions and answers by the student body. he starts off cooperative and ends annoyed by slow learning student. a give mr liao a "FAILURE" rating. i would not take him again or recommend him to another student for learning math 115.
Do all ur HW because it's extremely important. I failed 3 tests and passed 2. Final was really hard so I did the extra credit. I passed with a "C". So if u suck at math like I do, u should take him.
Nice professor & easy exams. Do your work & he'll leave you alone. Gives out sample problems that are very similar to quiz questions the day before. Slight accent, but definitely understandable. 7 quizzes (he drops the lowest), 7 homeworks, and a final.
Professor Liao is a very easy going teacher, his clarity is okay sometimes you have trouble understanding him but hes cool and VERY VERY helpful you raise your hand he will help you till you get it, hes patient, drops 1 lowest test score, his tests are extremely easy he tells you whats on the test, goes over homework problems. I got an A!!
Very difficult to understand. I already took this math at Rio Hondo, but wanted to take it again as a refresher...material should have been easy but this professors inability to enunciate made it a lost cause. Cannot understand, and he doesnt really explain thoroughly and clearly. I would not recommend!! Unless math is easy for you.
Very nice professor, & attendance not mandatory. Lenient grader on homework and tests. Gives a "study guide" for every test beforehand, and test is exactly as mentioned. Drops the lowest. Highly recommended for those who are not the best at math.
Took Mr. Liao during fall semester and his class is not hard as long as you attend the classes and review the chapters at home as a normal student is supposed to. Do your homework, study the handouts for the tests and you'll be just fine.
Attendance is not required for regular class times, but you have to show up for quizzes. he drops the lowest quiz score :) He's so nice, and there are no tests. only quizzes and hw !
Professor Liao was just too easy... you dont have to show up to class and still pass his class. Just make sure to show up for tests. I only showed up for test and still passed! its crazy easy and boring. If you want an easy A take his class! =]
COOL teacher. take him if you want to get an A~DO the homework and every thing will be ok~
Liao is one of the best Math teachers. He teaches very clear so that I dun need to spend much time to revise the chapter again. Otherwise, it would be terrible since I took his class in summer. If you want to learn, take him! If you want to get a good grade, take him as well! You can get a good grade if you know how to homework! Recommended!
One hw assignment per chapter. Drops the lowest test grade. Classes are boring but lessons are exactly as taught in the book. I would have preferred more review for tests. With all the previous reviews you may come out of this thinking the teacher is easy as heck. Not entirely the case but there are pros.
very nice, attendence not required, I thought his teaching was very clear although his english is poor, easy tests (the review is almost exactly the test with diff. numbers!),book use only for homework, if you have difficulty with basic math concepts, I do not reccomend...otherwise, highly reccomend!!!
Easy, just pay attention in class before test and you should be good
Very nice Prof. He cares for his students.More like him are needed! Take him if u suck in math he will help u a lot and if u try u will pass. He wont give u a hard time. I passed with a B and I am very happy.Take him, u wont regret it. I promise!
Although I checked that attendance is not mandatory because you don't get docked points, I suggest you still show up because Prof Liao is very good at explaining the Math concepts. Spontaneously he will also suggests what will be on the tests. At the end of the semester he let us use 1/2 sheets to help us with the exams which was very nice !
Had him for 115 and 125. He's excellent at providing examples and explaining concepts. However, he's a very soft spoken man. I sat in the front and sometimes had a hard time hearing him when he was on the far side of the board. Do the hw, study, and it's pi. He also gives practice tests and finals with are similar to the actual thing.
boring class/guy, no class participation/discussion. he teaches differently than i learned but its worth going to class to take notes. gives light hw &u can use an index card of notes on the final. look busy!
Actually his test is easy, but final text is very tricky. It's very easy to get a "B".
He super easy going. Answer questions when asked. Doesn't make you do work on the board or make you answer questions. Turn in homework on test days only so u will have a lot of time to do homework. Total of 6 test plus final no midterm.
best teacher ever
Run! What he teaches is not consistent and shaky. Moderate anount of HW by doing end of chapter review. Tests are so easy, you forget how to do it. He handed out a sample final that was nothing like the actual final.
I passed this class with a C. Unfornately, his teaching style has left me shaky to take Calc I. Take someone else who will give you the sense of actually knowing something.
He is a good man, but not a good teacher. Very easy going and still need more experience in teaching. Quizzes are very easy but the final is very hard. And that final is worth a lot and it'll lower your grade to C even if you get A in the quizzes. I regretted taking him. Take another teacher if you want to learn math and get good grade.
He is absolutely AWESOME! He gives many examples, forms and study guides. Usually, whatever is on the study guide is on the test too, just changes the numbers. Gives plenty of time to complete hw, and drops the lowest test grade. He is VERY helpful and cares a lot about his students passing. Feel free to ask questions, easy A.
If you need to be enrolled in Multivariable Calaculus and can teach yourself using Calc text from previous classes, this class is for you. If you can't teach yourself, avoid! No one can hear him speak though he says he said it crystal clear. Quizzes and Study Guide for Final are Web Assign handouts that are ridicuously easy. His typed Final is HARD!
Easy quizzes. Very hard final. Moderate amount of HW.
Very nice professor but can be very boring. His quizzes are fairly easy and his final is pretty tough so find a good partner to study with because the final will separate the REAL A students from the B students. Sit in the front or else you wont be able to hear him. Other than that, math is based on you and not the professor.
Very Tough test. His test are harder and harder than before . THat's what people said in the class whoever taking with him. It is true the test are hard and he would also like to reduce points taken off a lot Like 1 points *2 2 points per each mistake u make. So, prepare for it!!! I will not take him for next or other Math class.
i have taken 115 twice in the pass before and i just couldn't get it but with him i was able to pass the class with a B. not because he was easy but because he is helpful. homework is not mandatory but it is extra credit and it counts as 10% if you do it. sit at the front of the class like i did!! gives practice test. wish i can take him for 125.
I am actually sitting in his class right now, and I can't hear what he's saying and I'm in the 3rd row. I've fallen asleep 12 times... In the last hour! His English isn't perfect but it's understandable. If you're bad a math find a different professor, otherwise have fun teaching yourself from the book
All of his tests are tough. Be aware the study guide do not cover for his test. The worst thing is final . He ask all the final questions from outside resources and he don't even know the questions that he issued are wrong. So, we need to ask him to clarify while we are taking the final. Besides, it is not enough time to take it. Watch out him!
He's a cool professor but he's really hard to understand as far as working through the problems are concern. Sometimes he'll skip a few steps as he is working through a problem making everything very confusing. But he's a cool dude though. I would take him again but not for short semesters.
Sometimes he might skip a step or two and can make things very confusing. But other than that he's a cool dude. I would take him again just not for a short semester.
Mr. Liao is good for me. If you'r good at math you will be good. Quizs are every 2weeks , mostly pretty easy. Homework are not required but if you do them, easy A. I did homework and get 90+ score every time. Easy A definitely. In general, if you are good at math, take him, easy A. If you don't plz stay away from him. His lecture is boring.
He is a tough grader and dont tell you the solution of the test. Not a bad professor though. He is not helpful and I will not take from him
Mr. Liao is great, he writes everything on the board and goes through every step in the equation. Very helpful, and he gives extra credit which is a life saver, i wouldn't have passed without it. Do everything he writes on the board, it will help a lot. I tried to add him for 125, but all of his classes are packed. Overall, very good math teacher.
He's a really good teacher. He writes everything on the white board and its your choice if you want to do the homework. If you decide to do the homework it's extra credit.
First of all there is no homework. But you should do it, because 90% of what he writes on the board isnt on any of the test. I studied my notes and the "ebook" and most of the problems on the test we had never/hardly reviewed in Class. This professor is for people who want to teach themselves.
very helpful instructor, he goes over every problem on the board. do the homework and the class will be easy. really the homework is a life saver-guarantee to pass.
He is really cool, he'll explain everything you asked, you have choices to either do your homework or not, it is extra credit. The tests are not too hard, but you have to prepare for it.
I took this during the winter semester and it was 4 hours from Monday through Thursday. However, this professor made it seems like it wasn't that long. I passed with an excellent grade by a good professor who goes step by step process. Take him if the opportunity is there. He gives homework as extra credit, so do it for points? Some don't, but why?
I took Mr. Liao for Math 125 and his class was pretty clear cut. He assigns homework as extra credit and only has 6 tests (no midterm). He speaks in a low voice, so sit up front to hear him. His lectures are clear cut and is more than willing to help during office hours. He really knows his mathematics and is highly respected by his peers.
i have taken math 115 twice before and i couldn't pass it. It was extremely hard but he put it in a way i can understand. hw isnt mandatory but it is extra credit and its due every 2 weeks about 80-95 questions but manageable just do 12 a day or less. he gives practice test that are similar to the test. wish he was teaching 227 !!
Great Professor! Enough time to do homework and turn it in. Breaksdown problems in different ways to help out students who have a hard time with a specific formula. hands out practice test forms to study before the test. Overall one of the best math teachers at ELAC.
He is the greatest professor ever. He's so passionate in teaching and helping his students understand the material. He'll throw in some jokes here and there. Took his class for Summer and honestly I loved it. I highly recommend to take him whether you are good at math or not.
Took him on a short semester, teaches pertty clear and breaks down the steps. Practise test helps ALOT, if you got that down your good to go for the test. Final is accumulative of all practise test, same stlye of problems just changes numbers.
Do not take this class he is so hard to understand he has an accent. He is also old so he is sooooo boring I had him at 8am and I could not keep my eyes open. He also does not teach so well . Many test
Professor Liao is good but he goes a little too quick. Expects you to know your Math125 when you come in. Does not explain step by step but if you ask he'll come up to you and explain until you understand. Homework is due on the day of the test. Test questions are easier than homework ones. Drops one test. Will provide formulas in exams.
He's a very strict grader and deducts any points as possible from the test and homework. He talks very low so make sure to sit in the front, if you have any questions he's willing to help. Besides that the class isn't as hard if you know what you learn in MATH 125.
He talks super low. Offers study guides for exams, however some questions are not what he provides when it comes to the real exam. Drops lowest exam grade. Homework must be done in green books, and are due the day of each exam. He is not that bad, but I would not take his class again.
Super easy. Go in to class with some prior experience with math. Does not go that in depth. tests every week, super easy. homework is really easy just a lot of problems. heavy accent but understandable. gives a lot of breaks.
He is a wonderful Professor. I am not saying this because I passed but because he really takes the time to help you understand math. He shows different techniques to solving a problem in case you don't understand. He's awesome! Offers extra credit. Do the work, study and you'll pass. You can't expect to pass if you don't do the work.
English is not his first language which wouldn't be a problem if he spoke loud and clear which he doesn't. You literally have to sit in front to hear him and you'd be lucky to understand. Very Disorganized. He forgets to teach the tricks in his trick questions. Would never take him again. Avoid like the plague.
He talks very low and monotone which makes it hard to concentrate on what he is saying. He does try to explain but his explanations are hard to understand at times. All homework is online which could be annoying.
I really like professor Liao. I think he cares about students a lot. Even though some students might perform not as good as expected, he would not give them hard times. His tests are 95-99% similar to his in-class lectures. If you pay attention to his lecture and do homeworks, defnitly you have no problem to ace the test!
Professor Liao is really good at teaching. He explains different techniques and gives recommendations. His homework is online but he gives you plenty of time to finish it.. It sometimes can be difficult to understand him but overall great professor!
Best math professor I've ever taken in elac, he's helpful, learn a lot, homework and quizzes are online, love this class
Gives you samples for midterm and final, similar questions. Online quiz and homework, easy A if you are following, attendance is mandatory first several classes. The book is not required.
Very helpful instructor! Definitely recommend him because he goes step by step. He will also teach you some very helpful short cuts. He also cares very much for his students, and I think that is super awesome! Definitely take him!
His online hw is so annoying! There are 40 questions and a lot of them have more questions within the question. His voice is very low and monotone so you can't really understand. On top of this his lectures are fast. He tells you what to do for a problem but doesn't go into depth about the concept. He also expects you to already know most stuff.
A lot of online homework and quizzes. The textbook is also online. He is very nice but voice is low and monotone. All notes, pretty much reads off the PowerPoint. Just gives you a basic explanation about the problem. You have to teach yourself. Good thing is the midterm was exactly like study guide so make sure to study that.
He is a really straightforward professor who really cares for his students. Although his voice is really low, the class is basically self taught. The online homework examples do really help you understand the content better. Quizzes and Homework are online through MathXl. Take advantage of his office hours and you'll most definitely pass the class
All homework and quizzes are done online on a site you have to pay for. That's where the textbook is as well, but I never used it and passed. English is not his first language, so it may be difficult to understand what he says, but powerpoints are clear. Pay attention, show up to take notes and you'll pass. Hands out a clear syllabus.
Mr. Jiao is a great professor, will work with you if you need help. Show up to class, pay attention to lectures and you will most likely pass. He does a good job explaining lectures on power point. Overall a great understanding teacher.
Professor Liao was very helpful this semester, especially with the craziness of COVID going on. He was very clear, thorough, and would go back if needed. He will answer any questions you have, and would definitely recommend taking him.
There is rarely participation from students because he lectures the entire time. It's really easy to get burnt out and bored of his class, and many end up teaching themselves through MyOpenMath (which is where all tests and hw are). It's easy to get an A, but you also aren't getting the BEST trig learning experience.
Proff. Liao was a great at teaching the fundamentals of Calculus. The assignments in this class are all online and you can do them at your own pace making the class seem easy. Make sure to reach the deadline though because that can really screw you over. Overall if keep up with the work the class isn't all too bad.
This class was overall not that tough, as long as you learn how to use the calculator, complete the homework, you'll pass the midterm and final. Questions on the exams are exactly like the homework problems and study guides. He doesn't reply to emails, so ask him all the questions you have in person.
very kind and very easy.
Took this precalc class and the professor was pretty good. Lectures the whole time so it can get pretty boring but just focus and do homework as the lectures go if not you'll fall behind. We have around 11 quizzes in class and 3 on our own time. Final was easy just study. Everythng is on myopenmath and it has short videos to help even duringthequiz
I really like the way he teaches it could be boring at times but overall he is very cool. Just make sure you do the homework on time. He gives you plenty of time for your homework.
Attending zoom was mandatory. He lectures the entire time so take notes as it helps you do the HW and exams with ease. Ask him questions and he answers and helps solve as well! The study guides are the exams just with different numbers/ setup. Have a calculator ready and participate. I hated math but passed his class very easily, he's amazing!
I took Honors 227 and it was manageable. P. Liao has HW for every chapter (10 problems), a few quizzes (1-4 questions), Midterm and Final. Midterm and Final he will give the study guide and it's exactly as the exams. Practice practice practice the HW problems, quizzes and study guides. His lectures are good, but make sure you ask questions if lost.
I know it says Math 262 but, I actually took him for Math 261. I thought his class was easy to pass. I took him during the summer. Definitely pay attention though, if you don't then you won't do good. He would make some mistakes sometimes. He's mostly solving problems rather than explaining how to solve them, so keep that in mind.
I know it says Math 262 but, I took him for Math 261 over the summer. I thought the class was easy to pass, we were able to have a cheat sheet. The problems on the exams were similar to the Test Review. He mostly solves problems rather than explain how to solve them, so you should keep that in mind.
Great class! The teacher was very nice. He was very open to helping students after class whenever they needed help going over math problems. The class does not require you to buy any books; you only need a TI-84, which you can rent at the math lab for $7 for the semester. As long as you talk to him, you'll be good.
One of the best math professors at ELAC. The homework he assigns is multiple-choice and it allows you to retry it multiple times. However, if you find math already challenging, be sure to use the resources the college has available. The professor is going to help as much as possible, but at the end of the day, the class is YOUR responsibility.
