His class was pretty good. He's a great funny and is extremely helpful. He's funny and is always around whenever you need him. Definitely recommend taking any classes with him. :)

Crundwell is the man. He is like a college student, only with a PhD. He is very helpful and cool to talk to about stupid ****.

Very cool teacher. Explains material very well.
Dr. C rocks!
makes chemistry bearable. He's a funny Guy...literally.
crundwell has to be one of the best teachers i've ever encountered. His classes were horribly amusing and clearly taught. I did have to study for this class, but he made lecture worth attending. Everyone wanted to take the second half with him :)
He is a young funny guy, makes jokes about the simpsons. He is one of the better chem teachers. Class is pretty straight forward, however u need to study to get a decent grade. Is strick about make ups. Doesn't care about attendance.
His class is as enjoyable as a Chemistry class could be. He has fun and doesn't take attendance, but make no mistake... Chemistry is still challenging and you will need to study to do well.
Lectures are fun and educational. You definately have to study, but he doesn't try to stump you, he lets you know what will be on his tests. Plus, he ain't too hard on the eyes ;)
his class was soooo fun. he made it interesting i would denfinetly take another class with him
Crundwell is the man. I had him for lab and it was nothing but good times. He looks EXACTLY ALMOST DEAD ON like Adam Savage from MythBusters
great teacher
Haughty and arrogant. Thinks he know it all. Don't bother taking him if you want someone who cares about students.
Awsome guy... uses examples from the books to teach most material and uses the examples on test just changes the #'s a lil and uses other examples from the text book... just can't teach math too well
Awesome teacher, made chemistry fun and exciting. Great personality and a cool guy.
He makes chemistry a bit more tolerable. Grades tests better that Wescott... partial credit was our friend. Plus, he's HOT! ;)
has a good sence of humor which is good for a chemistry teacher. kinda takes the edge off this chemistry thing. funny guy. only bad thing is that he can give you the cold shoulder if you ask for help or leaves you with unanswered questions.
Fantastic teacher- very enthusiastic and willing to help.
Decent teacher, but makes you feel silly for asking questions. You have to keep up with the work and be there...and on time!
Took for summer class. UNBELIEVABLY clear. Really knows how to explain material. Very smart and KNOWS HOW TO TEACH. I am a moron when it comes to chemistry and i understood everything and should walk out with an A. One of best teachers ive had. Very funny and makes class very interesting. Just turn 40 yrs old. really chill and down to earth.
Took chemistry as a summer course because I was DREADING it! I survived and got an A! Very clear expectations. Really laid back, easy to talk to, friendly guy.
Really easy class. Didn't learn a ton but it was interesting.
Good teacher. Expectations are crystal clear. Amount of work put into class is proportional to grade received. Do extra credit and read the book. Cons: He makes bad analogies but its a redeeming quality in the end. And the lectures don't grab you(pretty much teaches the book).
Nice guy, funny. Does not tolerate tardiness. Offers absurd amount (several letter grades worth) of extra credit through online assignments; you have to try pretty hard to fail this class. Rest of grade is all exams. Teaches through examples, very little actual lecture. Do as many practice problems as you have time for and you are guaranteed an A.
BEST CHEMISTRY PROFESSOR EVER!!! TAKE HIM
Awesome professor. Has a great way of simplifying the material by making relations to other things. I highly recommend him especially for those with no science background.
The best chemistry professor at Central. Teaches very well. Does not waste class time and goes in depth into problems. Will help the class out on any questions they have. Clear about the material for the exams and gives extra and partial credit during grading. Also, he's funny and pretty attractive so it makes chemistry not so boring.
WONDERFUL! Makes chem super easy to understand and offers lots of options for extra credit and grade boosts! Perfect for students who have difficulty with chem; goes over everything and answers any questions. Also, hot and funny so class is quite enjoyable!!
Crundwell is an interesting character, he attempts to have a humorous classtime while at the same time comes off very strict. Chemistry is a little challenging for me in particular, but it is harder in his class.. A lot of students voiced that they did not understand why class was easy but the homework in the back of the book and tests are so hard.
Professor Crundwell is truly a unique guy (no pun intended). The homework is done online. The exams typically consist of 20 questions, relevant to what was discussed in class. No surprises in this class, just study what will be in the exam an you can easily earn an A. I recommend him.
Worst teacher ever!! HW is online which isn't bad, but all assignments are graded. You're allowed several attempts but you lose credit when you use them up and get no credit when you use them all. HW is 50% of your grade. Tests are the other 50%. His lectures are long and boring and he skips around a lot. Tests are only 20 question but hard
The class starts out okay, but after the first two or three chapters, it goes downhill. Homework is all online and is worth 50% of your grade, tests are the other 50%. He jumps around a lot and doesn't thoroughly explain stuff due to the large amount of material covered (and also because he's one of those "I know everything about chem" professors.
Homework is very difficult and lengthy. Out of 13 assignments, most took me at least 2 to 3 hours to complete. He is nice and gives out practice exams so you can prepare for the real exams. Answers your questions, but comes off as arrogant and acts like he knows everything about chem. For a general chemistry class, it requires a lot of work!!
Epitome of laziness. With all respect, he seems to go to work just to lecture. He sometimes helps you out, but will first make you feel stupid with the question your asking.
He seems nice enough, but as a professor, he doesn't cover everything that he should and students are often left either confused or bewildered.
very unorganized, not prepared for lectures, doesn't available in his office hours, feel lucky if u find him, so rude, doesn't make an eye contact if u find him, skips lots of classes for personal reasons. He needs to understand, he playing with students future. We work hard, and pay out of pocket. He ruined my gpa. I hate him and ccsu, just of him
Crundwell is a good professor however, on quizzes and exams, you cant just read a regurgitate what was read and lectured on. He wants you to be able to understand the material and be able to think about it critically. Overall, I would recommend taking him just be ready to earn your grade and there is no favors given at all.
Probably the worst lecturer I've ever seen in chemistry. Goes quickly over slides and he does not go over any problems that you will be faced with on hw and exams. Each class he will very quickly go over 1 and a half chapters of slides. About 80 percent of the class is completely dumbfounded as he "teaches". So have fun teaching yourself!!
Take him for general chemistry, he will do all multiple choice exams that are similar to the hw. As for the hw it's online and is multiple choice. However do not take him for chem 260; he is terrible at teaching. Will not go over any useful problems, he just reads slides. The majority of the class bombed the exam. CCSU needs better chem profs.
I did fine in general chem, but I was lost from day 1 in Crundwell's inorganic chem class. He doesn't explain things well and goes way too fast. I studied for 7 hours for the first test, but still completely failed it, so I dropped the class.
Possibly one of the worst professors I've ever had. He did not help at all, he would rush through his lectures . He is also very strict with grades, he will not budge at all and usually just gets rude when you ask to re take something. He claims he is there for the student, but usually doesn't even turn around when you go to see him in his office.
He is by far the worst teacher I have ever have. I would not suggest taking him. He is rude, not helpful and lectures are pointless. He reads straight from the slides. His tests are nothing like his lectures and homework. He is the kind of teacher that should not be hired to teach, unless it is titled teach your self course.
This guy is the definition of "bro". His class is very unorganized. Catching him during office hours is impossible. Lots of practice problems if you want to pass this class on your own.
He doesn't care about students whatsoever. I had to W from his class because I didn't have a car and when I came to 8AM class 2 minutes late he would give me 0 for quizzes and said he didn't care that I had no car and take rides with friends. He makes mistakes in class. He's also my advisor and believe me,the office secretary is more help than him.
You pretty much have to learn yourself, during office hours he won't even look at you never mind help you. If you email him or need him for something good luck...
Run! Run!!! Run for your life!!!! And don't look back.
Really cool guy. He is really laid-back. This class is pretty hard. The tests are multiple choice but that does not make it any easier. He's pretty helpful during office hours. Only take this class if it is a requirement, otherwise it will just hurt your gpa.
This class was really tough. He was sometimes very unclear and very confusing. . BEWARE he loves M.O. Diagrams and he will put them 3/4 exams as extra credit. His grading system was reasonable and made it easier to pass. Buy the book and do the HW problems. Also for the final, study the ACS gen. chem booklet because the final is based on that
Dr. Crundwell is a very reasonable person and has a great sense of humor. Chemistry is a challenging area of study and one should be prepared to work hard regardless of the professor. I'm very glad that I had him as a teacher.
Professor Crundwell's vast knowledge and great sense of humor made the class tolerable. Having said that this is still a very hard class and he certainly does not hold your hand through the process. Exams are hard but he bases a good amt of the overall grade on HW so if you put in the extra effort outside of class you will be fine
Lectures are pointless, as long as you study the assigned textbook problems you'll pass. He's a smart guy but doesn't know how to teach. Tests are 16-20 questions and he gave a 10 point extra credit on each one. Only take him if you're willing to teach yourself basically everything
I had Dr. Crundwell for Chemistry over winter break. I felt he taught the material well and he was a fun guy to talk to. If you didn't understand something in the reading you could email him and he'd get back to you within a few hours. I'd recommend taking his class. skim over the readings, take notes, study and you'll do well in his class.
I can honestly say that taking his class was pretty eye-opening as to the types of awful teachers they let "educate" us. He reads straight from the text and slides, and gives no additional depth. He covers content absurdly quick, and put all blame on students. I had to drop his course along with over 60% of my class. Never EVER take his courses.
Dr. Crundwell is the best professor I've had. He's respectful to the students, and is very fair. Don't listen to the negative comments on here, odds are their from students that didn't read the material, didn't show up to class, and then asked him how to pass after missing all of the assignments. He's cut and dry from day one and will work with you
He only gives three tests and a final exam. Does not curve your grades. On all three tests my class averages were below 50 and he still did not curve them. If you e-mail him he doesn't respond. Doesn't explain in depth. Expects you to know material as i you were a chem major. Would not recommend him. His class just drops your GPA.
This professor is another case of "I got my Doctorate in Chemistry so i am better than you" syndrome. If your not a chem Major he automatically loses interest in you. Forces you to buy a silly ass pen that you wont use ever again. Does not curve any grades and all exams are much more advance than other sections with other professors. DOnotTAKE
This class was a movement.... a bowel movement. Time for CCSU to drain the Swamp on professors like Guy Crundwell and hire better ones. CCSU needs to make Chemistry Great Again. Crooked Crundwell
Grades solely off exams, but the optional homework average can replace the lowest exam score. Chemistry 161 is a very hard subject so don't listen to all of the negative reviews. Great professor. You get what you put in. It is college.
Nothing much to say about him. He is not anything special, just simply teaches what is needed to be learned. Exams are based off homework so use them and his answer keys to get an easy A. He also grades homework but it is a safety net grade so it replaces your lowest exam (they aren't that easy though so try not to rely on the grade that much).
Going into this class, I was nervous because I didn't think chemistry would be my thing. But since day one, Dr. Crundwell got to the point of his lectures quickly, walked us through many examples with us, and gave thoughtful answers to all questions. He even posts all of his lectures with visuals on Blackboard. I would definitely take him again.
Dr. Crundwell is a pretty good professor. It's a really hard subject if you're not inclined to it, which I am not. It's not one of those classes you can pass without doing any work out of class, but if you show up to every class on time, do all the homework, and spend a decent amount of time studying for tests, It's not that hard
The homework average replaces the lowest test score, but the homeworks are assigned every class and are not easy whatsoever. Tests are difficult even when studied for. Was not helpful outside of class. Had to drop with a month left. Would not take again.
The tests are pretty much the same as the homework assignments, know how to do that and you'll pass. He also offers extra credit on the tests. I rarely showed up to class, but he posts all of his lectures online. Great guy. His tests were all open ended which I liked because you could get partial credit.
Super friendly and laid back. Very detailed during lectures, and provides notes, study guides and audio files online. Offered the textbook for free as a PDF. The HW was only 6 questions, 1 page. The test is a mirror image of the homework. And easy to look up khan academy or youtube for help. The concepts are super easy.
Professor Crundwell is a really great professor that helps students that want to help themselves. If you show effort on homework, come to class, and come prepared with questions he's more than happy to help you. It's the students that don't want to put in any effort that have a problem with him. Gave me a solid foundation before moving to Organic.
I am not good at chemistry and I never felt comfortable throughout, but Dr. Crundwell gives fairly easy exams compared to the optional homework. Show up and listen, do the homework that you don't understand, understand it, then get over 100 on the exams. A lot of kids had low grades or over 100s, it is what you make it, just study and show up.
He's a cool guy. Made you laugh occasionally, did what he could to help us out, had study guides and lecture notes on blackboard in case you missed class which was really nice. Whole class was only 3 exams and a final. Attendance was never taken but its still recommended you show up since the material itself is pretty tough.
He was easy going and understanding. Watch lectures online and choose not to attend class. As long as you do the assignments due every week. No final/midterm.
A nice professor that explained and taught the material excellently (even online).
Very helpful and willing to take questions at any time during lectures. Definitely would take him again.
He understood that not all of us are chem majors and explained topics clearly. I wish I could take another class with him!
Doctor Crundwell made learning chemistry easy and entertaining. He understood all questions students asked and always answers his emails to help. There is 300 points in total from checkpoints that he lets you do as many times until you get the grade you would like. The exams are open note. I would absolutely take chem lecture & lab with him again.
Professor Crundwell truly a great teacher. He is very personable and makes his students look forward to learning the material.
All work was online and attendance of class was not mandatory. Gave a reasonable amount of assignments and practice problems.
The lectures were very confusing and he rushed through the topics. The lectures he posted on Blackboard most of them were hard to understand. However, he has a lot of opportunities for grades such as the checkpoints after each online lecture and chapter assignment. The checkpoints are unlimited chances. The in-person exams are open notes.
Dr. Crundwell is an amazing professor! He is very passionate about chemistry and wants his students to succeed. Even though he doesn't take attendance, still go to class. He covers a lot and you will feel behind if you miss his lectures.
He puts all the material for the class online, so it's not really needed to attend class in person. In the video lectures he posts, he is very good at explaining the material. You get infinity tries on the regular assignments and three tries for the "tests". He makes chemistry really easy to understand.
The lectures are in person but all the work is online. you can do all the assignments at your own pace, but they all have the same due date. Attendance is not mandatory and if you can't make a lecture, he'll post it on bb. very easy class and all exams can be done online or in person (your choice). He's very clear with his requirements and rules.
I had no idea what he was talking about every lecture. I had below an F all semester. But at the end I completed all assignments and finished with a B! Just do the work. You can take them multiple times. He is practically giving you all the points to pass. He is a really passionate professor and you can tell he loves what he teaches! Take him!
I'm terrible at chemistry but I'm getting an A- in the class. All of the exams are open note but the homework is worth more than the exams and you get the entire semester to do it, you get 3 attempts, and it's open note. I did terribly on all of the exams but did all of the homework and got an A-. Professor is funny and gives extra credit.
Very easy to pass the class, great teacher.
Homework is worth more of your grade than exams, lectures are both in person and live streamed on blackboard, exams are open note. Very sweet, funny, and passionate about chemistry. Lectures are a little hard to follow but there are also notes and past lectures uploaded online. Genuinely just wants the best for his students. Take his class!!!
Professor Crundwell is a great professor. He makes it really easy for you to pass the class. There are a lott of assignments but as long as you follow along with his guide it's easy. You don't have to show up to class because he lectures online as well.
Crundwell is a funny guy. Gives a lot of homework which is all online for about 70% of your grade. The rest is tests which is all open note (besides the final). If you fail it's your own fault
Very funny professor. Gives you plenty of opportunities to get a better grade. Attendance not mandatory, all homework and quizzes in blackboard. Exceptional prof.
This guy is the DEFINITION of what a good professor is. Had him for lecture and lab. You can learn so much information without ever feeling stressed and acheive the grade you deserve for the class. During lab he has all the stuff set up so the students dont have to do extra unnecessary steps. Blessing to have him as a professor.
Dr. C is a great professor. I took his summer lab course. There are a lot of group things, so you mostly get the answers for a lot of things in class. if you're struggling to write the report, you can just ask him and he'll lead you in the right direction. He's also very goofy and funny. As a sophomore in hs, I would take him again for any class.
