Brother Dorius is the best professor I have ever had! I took his LDS Marriage and Family class and liked him so much I took D and C from him, too! He is amazing! I would definitely recommend him!
He was a great professor with helpful insights. His lectures were great to listen to and the textbook will be useful in the future (plus, it was cheap!). I strongly recomment this class.
Great teacher, lectures were always really interesting. His goal is just to help you grow and feel the spirit
The textbook is the most worthwhile part of class. I felt that his lectures were highly infused with his opinion. Only a few 6-point quizzes and 3 10-point papers per semester, plus the final, which isn't very hard. Worth taking for the doctrine, but I wouldn't necessarily recommend Dorius.
Great teacher! He really knows his stuff. I loved this class. I learned so much that will be really helpful in the future. PLus, it was super easy, which I'm all about easy Religion classes. He wants everyone to be better spouses, not to give you bad grades. Strongly recommend.
I loved this class! Brother Dorius is down to earth and puts time and effort into this class and into helping us learn. He teaches from the scriptures and the words from the prophets, sharing personal experiences to bring the doctrine home and help us see how to apply it. His tests are very easy if you read the book. Great guy and great class.
Great teacher, fun class. Talks about a lot of great things
Brother Dorius understands that most of us are taking religion classes expecting that we'll learn a lot but the class won't be hard. Very easy class (only 1 test all semester) but I learned so much about the second half of the D+C. I highly recommend him.
He can occasionally put you to sleep, but he is pretty easy and it's a good class.
This was my favorite Religion class in my whole college career! His class discussions were so inspired and amazing - I learned so much from him. His humor made it fun. If you're debating on this instructor - I would HIGHLY recommend him!
What a class! I am amazed at Brother Dorius' ability to say things that stick! One of the most worthwhile classes I've taken at BYU. And Brother Dorius is one of the nicest professors I've found so far in my college career.
Good teacher. Excellent lectures. Extremely easy. Highly recommend this guy. He is awesome and has an awesome family.
Guy Smiley is up to his old tricks again! It is a good class to learn the second half of the D&C and overall Bro. Dorius is a nice guy. His opinions infused with doctrinal interpretation can sometimes be confused with what the Brethren really say in conference!
Bro Dorius was great! He told good stories and was pretty easy. I loved him and his class. Gives a few easy papers and only one test, the final, to which he gives you all the possible answers. Also, a few quizes.
Brother Dorius is an amazing teacher. He always managed to bring the spirit into lecture. The best part about the class was that it was enlightening as well as easy! Finally a religion teacher that gets it! He has you read the historical background for each section and then for the ONE test you take you just memorize the headings. LOVED IT!
Good teacher. i enjoyed the class. 3 papers, a few quizes and a final. i learned alot and it was fairly easy. just do your reading and journals....
Good guy. Pretty easy. Interesting class & he does a good job of keeping everyone interested. Expects you to be there every day and do the readings & if you do you will pass with an A. He gives hints on quizzes, and makes it very clear on exactly what he expects you to know. Before the final he passes out a review sheet with every posible question.
If you want the easiest religion class at BYU- hands down...take this class from Brother Dorius. You have to go to class for attendance points. You write three "feeling" papers and get 100%, take the quizzes he tells you the answers on, and take the final which he gives you all the questions to. Loved it!
Celestial marriage is not nearly as easy as this class. It was informative, fun, and VERY easy. The three 2-3 page papers are graded on a pass/fail basis. He gives you the questions that he will put on the final. He also hints as to which questions will be on the quizzes, and when they will happen. Dorius is a good fellow. Thanks for the A!
I loved this class. It is easy and fun. You just need to make sure that you attend!
A really enjoyable class.
Professor Dorius was one of my favorite teachers at BYU. I felt the Spirit so strong in his religion classes. His perspectives are right on, and lectures always involve tying the gospel principles taught to real-world applications.
This was one of my favorite classes! He's very knowledgeable about what he teaches because he designed the class! If you think it's just for engaged/married people, it's not. It's helpful for improving any kind of relationship, and filling the Rel elective requirement!
Brother Dorius is amazing. He loves what he teaches and is so clear in his explanations. His class lectures are loose and fluid with room for discussion. The class is fairly easy, but you learn a lot. He practices what he preaches. If you get a chance take any of his classes!
He mostly sticks to real doctrine, so avoid him if false doctrine is your thing. His humility comes across as sincere. The course is an easy A if you never miss class and do all the journal and reading assignments. No midterm, just a final you can cram for in 2 hours. The only other assignment is a paper on which most people receive a B+ or higher.
Go to class! Do the easy, 2-page papers, and study an hour for the final and you should do just peachy in here. Be sure to go to class for the pop quizzes, which is okay, because classes were always interesting. Very open to class discussion. Always sided with the official positions of the church. A great little class.
The only bad thing about this class was that 8 times a semester there are pop quizzes on the readings, one of which you drop. Papers and Final are cake though.
Take any class from him, he is amazing. The class is fun, you learn alot.
If you want an A you can get it by just attending class and doing the assignments. Straight forward and easy class.
Brother Dorius is a great teacher. He is very good at teaching the doctrines of the kingdom in proper perspectives. Down to earth and a great guy. He doesn't like tests and grades, so he goes out of his way to help you get an A. He warns you of quizzes, and gives a study guide for the one test. I learned a lot in his class and recommend taking it!
Easy class; you can pretty much just pay attention in class, do the reading to get credit, and ace the class. He's one of the few religion professors at BYU that doesn't preach his opinion, which is a welcome relief.
Bro. Dorius is amazing!! The class is super easy-you have to do the readings (way short)and a blackboard journal entry after every class. There are 3 2-page papers which are cake. Final=easy. I recommend this class and Bro. Dorius. He teaches by the Spirit, helps us apply gospel principles, and is so funny. I love his stories. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
I highly recommend this class. It's a religion class where all you have to do is the reading and go to class. I learned a lot
I've taken 1st and 2nd half of D&C plus marriage and family from Bro Dorius. He is by far my favorite teacher on this campus. He has such a strong testimony and is inspiring. His class is what a religion class should be - easy to feel the spirit and learn, plus easy to get an A. Do the readings+pay attention+know the section headings= A. Take him!!
Paul Savage & Bro. Dorius are my favorite BYU professors. He teaches the doctrine, not his opinion. You learn the scriptures. His goal is for you to gain something from this class. He has to give you a grade. So the quizzes and final are easy. Attend class, know basic doctrine, and memorize section titles long enough to spit them up on the exam.
One of the best on campus. M&F final was a little harder than D&C final. Know the lists we learn. His focus is the doctrine of marriage as taught by the Brethren. If you take the time to ponder what is taught, you will gain a lot from this class. Such a great class.
One of the best professors I've had at BYU. He teaches the doctrine. He gives you hints as to which questions he would ask on quizzes and the final. Come to class, listen, apply what you learn and you'll do great. You do have to have a little bit of a desire to learn from him and a little bit on your own. Anyone who says it's tough is just lazy.
Anyone who didn't like any of Bro. Dorius' classes or him is only mad at their own laziness. You have to not care about the gospel and not do anything to not enjoy or do well in this class.
I love love loved this class! I didn't really want to take it originally because I thought it was the cliche BYU class to take, but I absolutely loved it. It helped me sooo much and I learned so much from it. The text is something I plan on keeping and utlizing in the future too. Take this class from bro Dorius, he does a fantastic job!
Okay I took M&F simply to get my last religion credits out of the way in the easiest way possible. Which I did, but this class is actually really good. He is awesome. Quizzes are tough if you don't do the reading. I just looked it over before each class and usually did okay.
great teacher. i loved coming to class to hear his insight. taught D&C in a way that emphasized the spiritual lessons learned rather than a history lesson. he's super humble and has a great feeling about him.
I took Dorius for M&F and D&C and would recommend him to EVERYONE. He always opens the first day of class saying if you don't like his teaching he'll help you find someone you do like. But I don't think anyone would ever change! His lectures are engaging and always made me spiritually uplifted. Not a lot of work, just study and you'll do well! :)
Everyone said really easy, which he kinda was, but he didn't always tell us when quizzes were and you HAVE to know section titles for those. Final super vague and down played it, but not that easy, half doctrine questions, and section titles. Go over powerpoints, also never got back to my emails so not super helpful. 3.9 GPA so def not lazy
His M&F and D&C classes are amazing. He makes the class SUPER reasonable. You have to submit journals after each class, write 1 or 2 two page papers, take the final, and show up to class. He teaches with the spirit, very funny, humble, and presents doctrines or ideas in a way that we can better apply it to our own lives. What a wonderful man!
Great professor who invites the spirit to class and doesn't try and make your religion class the hardest one you have. Minimal tests and he has a huge heart. Take D&C from him, you won't regret it.
Okay, so it's a ridiculously easy grade, but that's because the class is so boring and you hardly learn anything, yet attendance is mandatory. I learned more from reading the manual than from listening to him go off on tangents about his family. If you want to learn something take someone else, really disappointed in the teaching quality.
I LOVED THIS CLASS. I am not even close to being married and yet I still enjoyed this class. He makes the class applicable to everyone. He loves to talk about his family but that's understandable since he knows his family better than anyone else's families. There is only one test, which he gives a study guide for, and pop quizzes that he hints at.
Great professor. I appreciated how he brought the spirit into class discussions. He really cares about each student. I wish he would use his powerpoints a little more and make each class more organized - he can take too long on a topic sometimes, because he talks from memory instead. Plus there isn't a lot of class discussion, mostly lecture.
If you can, take his evening class, he's much easier on you then. I loved his insight. The best class I've ever taken! I learned tons and it was fun!
I loved this class!! The reading are interesting. There are "pop" quizzes in class but he hints at when they will be and pretty much tells you what you will need to know- same with the final. I didn't have to worry about taking notes which meant I could really listen to him and learn more. He teaches with the spirit and cares about the students.
He was AWESOME! I was engaged at the time, and my fiance and I both took this class from him. He goes through the reading material really well and is really spiritual in all aspects. Even if you aren't engaged, take this class! You learn so much that we WISH we knew when we were dating! PLUS, the final is really easy!
Best teacher ever. He really explains everything and there is no holding back, no sugar coating to make it hard to get what he is saying. Quizzes are easy and reading is interesting. Favorite class yet, best professor I've ever had.
Best teacher I've EVER had!!! He was so interesting and going to class was so nice and relaxing. I didn't have to sit there and only listen for notes that would help me get an "A" I was actually able to concentrate on things that would personally help me in my life. Loved his class and highly recommend his class!
As long as you know the section headings and the quiz answers the tests are super easy! I didn't really get much (or anything) out of his class, but it was such an easy A. The one thing that was a pain was that you had to submit a ton of things on Learning Suite for each class period, but it wasn't time consuming or hard.
Wow this was an easy class. You are required to do reading quizzes and lecture journals for each class, but these take no time at all. I'd say I spent maybe an hour outside of lecture on this class. You need to memorize all student manual section headings though. Take it from Dorius, whether you enjoy religion class or not, you'll be satisfied.
Wonderful religious teacher. Very straight forward with grading system. The average on the midterm was 95%. He teaches by the spirit and doesn't force his students to do much work that is not needed in a religious class.
I was disappointed when I got a 99% on the final exam. Exam questions are the same as the online quiz questions (and the answers are in the same order, too). If you are taking a lot of difficult classes and you need the D&C credit, take from this guy. Also, this guy is very spiritual and knowledgeable about the gospel.
BYU you're lucky to have Dorius! He's a great teacher, very wise and knowledgeable in both doctrine and secular-what a great example! His family came in with homemade cinnamon buns. Attendance is a must. Please don't ruin it for the rest that want to learn by doing foolish things (cheating). The class is easy enough to focus on gospel learning.
When I take a religion class, I want it to be uplifting but also easy. Bro Dorius is an easy teacher and it won't take a lot of work to get an A but rarely did I leave class feeling particularly uplifted. If you want to sit in a large lecture room, be bored and not uplifted, and get an easy A, this is the class for you.
Bro. Dorius is a great religion teacher. He teaches real doctrine, and is down to earth and very caring. Come to class, learn and get an A. He teaches religion classes the way that they should be taught.
Very easy class. Most test questions come straight from quizzes. Very nice professor and funny. Class was hardly ever boring. If you need more religion credit, take this class.
Very easy, just do the busy work that you are given and you will do fine.
Brother Dorius does a great job of relating doctrine to "real life" application. I loved his experiences that he shared. I really appreciate his computer policy, allowing us to have them out. By simply asking us to grade ourselves on Learning Suite (as an online quiz) about how well we paid attention in class, really helped me to pay attention.
This was the religion class I was looking for: Spiritually focused, not academically focused. You actually learn doctrine and get questions answered without having to stress about grades.
TAKE THIS CLASS. Bro Dorius is incredible. He is hilarious and very fair and has wonderful stories and is great at explaining things. I learned more than I thought possibly. This is a very uplifting course and I think everyone should take it. Best religion class I have taken so far.
SO EASY. He's a very good teacher. Funny, insightful, and excellent at explaining things. He doesn't try to delve into "deep doctrine." Do the quizzes! Remember to mark your attendance and reading. There's lots of online assignments. You can learn as much as you want from him, from nothing to a TON. I recommend him. SUPER EASY.
I love Brother Dorius! He's the sweetest guy, and genuinely interested in all of his students. He likes to keep his class spiritually focused, which means it's easy on the academic side. I learned so much from his class without being crushed by homework.
Brother Dorius is the single best religion professor out there. He doesn't believe in making D & C your hardest class, so he just tries to make it as informative and spiritually uplifting as possible. As long as you do your weekly attendance/journals/quiz, you will do great in his class!
Lectures were mostly interesting, but he would sometimes go off on tangents that weren't really relevant. I liked that he was not focused on making it academic, but on helping us find spiritual insights from the scriptures. (Also, don't really know why he has a chili pepper...) Overall, a good professor.
I took his marriage and fam class and it was so INTERESTING. I loved every second. He is very interesting. And his midterm and final are not comprehensive (they are word for word the quizzes we took). The quizzes are open book. So he hands you an A. Literally just take the quizzes, write daily journals, and rate you attendance and you're golden.
Brother Dorius' class is the class to pick for D&C. Super duper easy. His tests are just on matching section headings and former quiz questions. You really can't go wrong unless you skip class and get lazy with doing the basic weekly quizzes and journals. Learnt lot's from him and the stories he shared.
D&C with Dorius is definitely easing. The only frustrating thing is that you have to memorize every section title form the student manual and be able to match it with the section number!! As someone who has a hard time with rote memorization that was frustrating. Otherwise easy, like others have said.
If you have a difficult semester coming up, but still need to squeeze in a religion course, then this is the class for you. After absolutely loving his marriage and family class, I decided to take his D&C one as well. It was a good course, but the history behind the D&C is not heavily emphasized. I also thought it was a bit too easy at times.
Easy peezy, lemon squeezy.
I really liked this class. I like it because it felt a little more spiritual and less academic. I don't love overly academic religion courses, because you focus more on the grading results than the material. You'll enjoy taking D&C from Dorius.
FAVORITE CLASS AT BYU. Dorius is not one to beat around the bush. He says things we all need to hear and talks about things that are kind of hush hush in LDS culture. But he does it respectfully. I learned a ton and will definitely be taking more classes from him. Way easy A if you do assignments, but also go to class just because he's that good :)
Class needs to be renamed marriage prep rather than marriage and family relations. It makes it seem like it's not entirely focused on how to date and get married - which it is. But, he's a good professor and it's an easy A class.
GREAT CLASS! I loved Prof. Dorius. Easy class. I learned so much, he covers so much information and you learn so much from his experiences. Take this class! He is wonderful. Easy A
This class is seriously the easiest religion credit you could ever take. SUPER easy A! He's a great guy and loves seeing his students succeed. He has short online quizzes each week, but then the test is all questions DIRECTLY from those quizzes. So it's not hard AT ALL. 50 question test took me 15 minutes. don't buy the textbook-can get it online.
Best class I have ever taken at BYU by far. Dr. Dorius is the nicest man ever. Makes a religion class a lot of fun and educational.
Brother Dorius is an amazing teacher. His class's are meaningful! Every Homework assignment is spiritually and mentally enlarging. His tests are fair and the weekly quizzes and journals are there to heighten your understanding and prepare you to have the best experience you can. I have taken 2 classes from him already and Plan to Take More!
Favorite teacher. Everyone should take his class. He speaks truth and we have a fun and spiritual time talking about the subject. I've never felt the spirit like I did in a class room setting before. The Spirit was certainly there. I only wish I stayed up on all the assignments. Don't fall behind or forget to do them.
Super easy class. Material was fairly interesting. Quizzes were simple and based on reading. Tests were just the same quiz questions again. I would review the quiz questions for 5 minutes and ace the tests. The hardest part of this class is being sure to attend and remembering to do the easy quizzes.
Easiest class I ever took! This is what a religion class should be. I felt the spirit in class and was uplifted, but I didn't feel like it was a 4 credit class to add to my load like other religion professors feel they should make their class. He tells you exactly what will be on his midterm and final. I got a 94 on midterm and 99 on final.
If you come to class, write an online journal entry after class, and do the reading quizzes, you will get an A. Doing quizzes is very important for doing well on the midterm and final. He's a nice, down-to-Earth professor who is willing to help, but he makes his class policies clear and will stand by them. Low point count makes attendance crucial.
dope class dope teacher, actually interesting i payed attention most of the time, take this class easeist and best religion class there is at byu along with his dc class
I was SUPER worried going into this class, but coming out of it, I definitely would take it again. Brother Dorius is SUCH a good teacher and I Always learned something new and applicable. This class is super interesting and Brother Dorius is incredibly funny. TAKE THE CLASS
So easy and such a good class. Learned something important during every lecture. Highly recommended!
Brother Dorius is a great Professor of Religion. He really knows how to teach and makes every lecture meaningful and worthwhile, while not giving out too many assignments. Just remember to do every assignment before their due dates and you'll be fine. The tests aren't bad at all. Take this class if you want to actually learn something!
Brother Dorius is wonderful! This class is the easiest one at BYU, but it was so inspiring and uplifting. It's definitely the one to take for Religion credit or just for fun! TAKE IT.
Easy class and Dorius is one of the more interesting religion teachers that I've had
I LOVE BROTHER DORIUS! His marriage and family class was the best class I've ever taken at BYU. His lectures are very interesting, inspirational, and he is super funny. Definitely would take his class again!
Dorius teaches doctrine, not opinions. Will answer any question that you have and will not beat around the bush. although i took him only because his classes are super easy (tests are replicas of online quizzes) i will definitely be benefited throughout my life for doing so.
just show up to class, sit back and enjoy finely delivered lectures. there are online quizzes based on reading and tests which are the same as the online quizzes. easiest A of my byu career. truly left benefitted from taking his class though, would take him again in a second.
It's a very basic course where if you show up and do your work, you'll pass with an A. If you forget or if you get lazy, then it reflects. There weren't really any papers, but you did have to read a lot. If you read and show up to class, you'll be in for an amazing experience.
LOVE Brother Dorius! Super easy class, yet learned a lot about the doctrine of Marriage & Family. Brother Dorius is really funny and has great stories to share. Super kind and approachable. There are daily readings and easy quiz questions to go with them, but the Final are those same quiz questions, so easy! Definitely would take this class again!
Lectures are great! He shares good insights, personal stories, & he's not afraid to tell it like it is. If you go to class, read, take the quizzes -you'll have an easy A.
Very good professors. Gives enough historycontext to make the spiritual part of the class more meaningful, but won't bore you with the details. His classes were always uplifting. He will not be able to answer all of your questions about the D&C and prides himself on it, but what he does teach is inspirational.
I have 14 credits of religion but I have never laughed or been as inspired in any other class. Now for what you care about: Grades. His exams are (I kid you not) the reading quizzes, copied and pasted. You will get 100%. There are journals due after every class. Pro Dorius is humble, hilarious, and exceptionally insightful.
Brother Dorius is one of the best teachers I have ever had. The class always goes by quickly because the lectures are so interesting and applicable. He really tells it like it is and has awesome stories. If you do the readings, the class is an easy A. Definitely take from him!
This is an absolutely amazing class and Brother Dorius is a very inspiring teacher and he totally gets where students are coming from. He makes his tests really easy and homework isn't that hard. Honestly, you don't have to read the material t get an A, but you need the textbook for weekly tests and to study for the finals.
Best religion class and professor! Inspirational lectures. Does not take attendance, but you want to be there. Reading quizzes are very easy and reading is interesting (mainly church articles and talks). I always look forward to class! TAKE IT
Dorius teaches his class straight up. He could care less that it is a college class, and instead cares deeply about the subject of Eternal Family. The test is literally the quizzes taken previously. I loved his insights into the gospel, and I would 10/10 recommend for both an INCREDIBLY EASY and thoroughly enjoyable class.
Incredibly easy. I honestly cannot fathom how someone can get a grade other than an A in this class. Tests are straight from his quizzes that are straight from the reading.
Best religion professor at BYU. You will learn tons if you go to class. He is very direct and will get you to think about things that sometimes in LDS culture we are encouraged to steer away from. With that said, he makes sure his class is an EASY A. Just do the quizzes and you will get an A.
funny lectures, take the quizzes and you will ace the test. Easy class
Brother Dorius is an amazing teacher and the readings for this class are great-all conference or devotional talks from General Authorities. Brother Dorius is fine with giving out A's, and cares more about us learning than taking really hard tests. I have learned so much in this class and recommend it to anyone!
Honestly... Seems like a good guy who knows his stuff, but overall didn't feel like I learned much.... Barely ever took notes. Occasional bright spots though.
Brother Dorius is such a sweet man with a very strong testimony, but going to his lectures often frustrated me because he doesn't usually have a clear outline of a set lesson plan. I never took notes because he didn't provide information for us that we'd "need to know" for a test. It was an easy class, but I did not learn anything new.
This class was really easy. Each week there is section reading, quizzes, 2 weekly journals, & self-rated attendance points. The only other assignments are the Midterm and Final, which are based off the quizzes. I didn't learn a lot from this class, but it was easy, uplifting, & Bro. Dorius is hilarious.
Bro. Dorius was amazing! This is my second class that I have taken from him -- I enjoyed thoroughly his Rel C 234 class and this one. I felt that this class is a great required class -- I felt that the manual debilitated his teaching style and ability. I wish that he could teach from the previous Rel C 234 manual as the material is better!!!!
I want to take a class from him again! Test questions are taken straight from the open book quizzes. Memorize them and you got yourself an easy 100%. There is a lot of reading, but the assignments are so easy that you don't really care in the end. He wants you to get an A and he isn't shy about it. Lectures are good and he is fun. Easy A.
Brother Dorius is all around a great professor. The class is very easy and does not try to hide the fact.
Can't say I was a fan of this class. Lectures felt like a waste of time. Really didn't feel like I learned anything new and that Brother Dorius often rambled about things that were hard for me to care about. I did love, however, that he was always clear about what would be on the test. He wants all his students to get As, and that's great.
Dr. Dorius is an amazing teacher who is great at making doctrine easier to understand. He also gives great examples to help his students apply principles in their own lives. He truly embodies a religion teacher at BYU who lives what he preaches. The tests are just the weekly quizzes all together at once. the class reading is long but inspired.
There is no reason to get anything but an A. You need to attend class and while there is kind of a lot of homework it is all super easy and shouldn't take more than a few minutes as long as you remember to do it. He will plainly tell you that he intends this to be an easy class.
This teacher is amazing. If you take a D&C or Eternal Family class from anyone else, you are crazy! He makes it a spiritual environment and he doesn't require crazy amounts of memorization like other religion professors do. Love the class, very up-lifting.
Easiest A of my college career. If you want an inspirational class that is an easy A, take a class from him.
Best class and teacher! Very easy A if you pay attention and do your HW.
The reading assignments were long, but interesting. There were weekly quizzes and attendance was part of your grade. I learned a lot from this class and would take it again. He made sure to differentiate between when he was explaining doctrine and when he was giving his personal opinion. He loved comments from the class. Easy and inspirational!
All of his test questions are taken off of his reading quizzes. Just study those and you're golden. He has a lot of reading, but the quizzes weren't too difficult.
Super easy class. Some small assignments for each class but they don't take long. One midterm and a final, both pretty easy to study for. Granted I didn't learn very much (learned a lot more from Bro. Sweat although his class is more involved) and we were always behind schedule in the discussions, but it was easy so I'm not complaining.
This class was life changing for me! I loved the textbook and his lectures were a great spiritual light in my life. The reading takes a while but is worth it and is good for a Sunday activity. Also the tests are made from the quizzes so when you are in class you are absorbing class and you aren't worried about the tests. Highly recommend.
Great professor, just wants you to succeed. He focuses on the spirit. The tests are 90% literally the same reading quiz questions and section titles, 10% slides. He wants you to have a spiritual experience and not get stressed by the workload. Daily reading quizzes and journal entries, weekly self-reported attendance. Would DEFINITELY recommend.
GREAT professor! WOW! Rad class. As long as you came prepared to class everyday (aka did your reading and took the quiz) then you were 100% ready for the 2 tests! He wants you to be uplifted, not stress about your religion class, and have fun! All that was required was reading, a quiz and journal daily, self reported attendance, and the two tests.
An A is not low-hanging fruit at 95. Miss a few assignments and you don't get it.
Definitely cares about you learning the material more than testing on it. Tests are verbatim what you see on the reading quizzes (I recommend copying them and their answers into a document to study for the midterm). Attendance and Attentiveness are required, but reported on Learning Suite. Lots of reading, but it's manageable and worth the time.
Bro. Dorius is super clear about the homework and tests, and a lot of the assignments are "on-your-honor". Everything is straightforward. He's great because he focuses less on GPA and more on actual learning. Just do the assignments and you'll get an A, easy, but better than that you'll actually learn new things that apply to life.
I've taken 7 semesters of pre-med classes at BYU. Dorius is easiest professor. Quiz for each class. Journal for each class. Attendance for each week. Tests are 60% verbatim from quizzes with 40% info coming D&C chapter headings and 10% info coming from slides. EXTREMELY EASY! Spiritual lectures. Good guy.
Brother Dorius is a great guy. He's inspiring, specific about his expectations, and always willing to help. I got sick for about a week and couldn't make it to class. I messaged him asking how I could get those attendance points and he just gave them to me. I missed some assignments and he gave me the points anyway. Super kind and understanding. A+
So pointless to memorize section headings of HALF of D&C. Useless knowledge. Wouldn't even call that knowledge.
I loved Dr. Dorius' class. Every class, I learned something new and felt the spirit. It's a perfect religion class--you learn something new every class but don't have to stress about your grade. Just keep up with the short journal every class period and the quizzes and readings (there is a fair amount of reading for the course). 2 tests, no papers.
Absolutely amazing class. I felt so inspired every time that I walked out of that class. Bro. Dorius has a lot of experience with marriage and family and I highly recommend this class to anyone. I wish I could take another class from him but I've taken all of the ones he teaches. EASY A. Study the quiz questions and you will get 100% on all tests.
Dorius is the best. He's very straightforward and doesn't make certain topics awkward. The reading is long--about 2 hours/week but it is SO good and you learn so much from it. Tests are super easy--completely identical to the quizzes. Not only is this class an easy A but it is also very enlightening. My testimony has grown significantly.
His class was easy, but it was annoying to remember to do daily quizzes, daily reading, and daily journals. Those tasks are simple, but if you forget to do a few, it will hurt your grade. I took this class from him because I heard he was easygoing and spiritual, but ended up wishing I had taken it from someone more challenging.
aHH, his pop quizzes were tricky but great guy.
Brother Dorius is a great teacher. Attendance, quizzes, and journals are vital to receiving an A, but they are very easy. Whenever I attend class, I always take something from the lesson. He cares more about his students learning the gospel than just getting a grade. Since his class is very easy, it is easy to get an A, as long as you do the work.
Dorius is the man! Great content, he teaches simply, tests aren't hard, and good atmosphere. He cares about the students.
I loved prof Dorius. So many religion professors on campus think that a religion class needs to be absurdly hard, but not prof Dorius. He gets it. He is spiritually uplifting, is a great teacher, and gives the right amount of work. Quiz on LS every other class, one midterm and one final that are similar to the quizzes. A great class!
I didn't like this class at all. He is definitely easy and it was easy to get an A, but I didn't learn anything. He likes to talk about himself and that's most of class time. We rarely read from the scriptures, but he did provide quotes for us to read together. Wouldn't take from him again. Not spiritually uplifting.
Brother Dorius is amazing! His lectures are full of the spirit. He talks more about things that he have found work in real life and quotes from the brethren. He says at the beginning that the purpose of his lectures is to allow you to feel the spirit. He does not test on things he lectured about but from the reading quizzes. Easy class.
No way around it, this is one of the easier classes at BYU. He is a great guy with awesome lectures. There is a fair amount of reading but the assignments are nearly impossible to not get 100% on. Tests are quizzes from the semester, nothing new. Stay on top of the post class journals though because missing a few stinks. An A is 95. Still way easy
Prof. Dorius teaches Religion the way it ought to be taught. He teaches by the spirit, keeps with the doctrine, and doesnt overburden the students with homework and special projects involving huge expectations that are required of them. He gives a clear plan of action that will help students learn and progress successfully. They appreciate it.
If you come to class and do the work, you'll get an A. He has daily quizzes and journals but they're super easy. He teaches doctrine and by the spirit, not by the textbook, but you definitely need access to the textbook online (and scriptures) to pass the quizzes. Great professor. Recommend 10/10.
Professor Dorius is AMAZING. His focus really is on the students' spiritual experience and he keeps it that way. He tries to get grades out of the way so you can focus on the Spirit. I love going to class and hearing his lectures. I've never known such a bold, kind, funny, wise, and relateable professor. Plus he tells stories.
Teaches by the spirit. Wants you to get a good grade. Tests are easy. Seriously, take this class from him and just enjoy learning the doctrine in an inspiring way without having to worry about your grade.
There is a reason half of the football team takes this class and that is because you literally have to do nothing and you will still get an A. Although I appreciated the leniency in his class I can't recall learning a single thing.
Professor Dorius was great! He wants everyone to get a good grade because he wants to teach each class according to the Spirit. His lectures were amazing and very enjoyable. You have to attend class, attendance is mandatory and counted. And the readings outside of class take a while. However, exams very easy and straightforward.
Professor Dorius is by far the best religion professor I have ever had. He doesn't make his class ridiculously time consuming and difficult like the majority of religion professors because he actually cares about you. The class is super easy, but you will feel the spirit in class. I can say his is the only spiritually enriching religion class.
Wonderful professor! This class is easy compared to other religion classes at BYU. However, easy does not equal no work. You have tons of reading quizzes and if you don't do the readings, you'll fail. Also, you need a 95% to get an A in the class, so it's challenging to get an A . Do the work to get it. It's not an easy A like you'd think.
Brother Dorius is one of the best teachers I have ever had! There are quizzes every week, but, each quiz has only 10 simple questions and is open book. Attendance and short journal is necessary. Overall, it is an easy class.
Dr. Dorius is by far the best religion professor I have had at BYU. His tests are completely based off of the readings, so they are very reasonable. He doesn't try to fly through a ton of random and useless gospel facts as other religion profs do. I would take this class from him again, no question! Once you have him, you won't want anyone else!
Just don't take from him. Don't be fooled by the positive reviews. I took his class because I wanted the easy A and that's all I got from him, his recycled powerpoints, and his memorized lectures and jokes.
Brother Dorius is awesome. He knows so much, and he's willing to sincerely any questions anybody has about the material. I was motivated to read before class and gained a desire to know more about the Doctrine & Covenants. TAKE D&C FROM HIM. The final exam & midterm are *literally* the quiz questions that you can access in LS after you take them.
The book is online so you won't have to buy it at the BYU bookstore. If you do the readings, which can be lengthy, you'll finish the quizzes each week in no time. Make sure you take all the quizzes and get 100% on each one. Tests are based on what is discussed in class. Such a spiritual class. It'll prepare you for marriage and dating.
I loved Brother Dorius's class! Getting an A is really easy (the only reason I didn't was because I forgot to do a few of the journals). His class is not only funny, but it is spiritually uplifting. I learned so many things about the family that I had never considered before. I know this will prepare me to better serve my future family.
This class is ridiculously easy, but you still get stuff out of it. You're graded on attendance, so make sure to go. Short quizzes before every class on the readings (just ctrl F). The tests are literally these EXACT SAME QUESTIONS. Memorize them and you're golden. No projects, two tests, lots of readings. Don't buy the packet; it's all online.
I have to say, I have never met a more condescending, arrogant, chauvinist professor in my life. I left every class period fuming at the "conversations" (read, his pontificating posited as a conversation) we had in class and his regular degradation of those who espoused different views than his own. His lectures were largely unfocused tirades.
I have absolutely loved Professor Dorius! He is so spiritual and he keeps the religion class just as they all ought to be. It wasn't difficult to get an A you just really need to pay attention to the due dates. He is very compassionate and is extremely knowledgeable about the subject material.
You are honestly stupid if you don't take this class. The reading is easy, and you have to take a quiz every day but its open note, open everything. The midterm and final are literally the quiz questions word for word. He is a great guy who really cares about D & C and knows his stuff. He understands how religion classes should be. Take this class.
SERIOUSLY. take this class. Finally a professor who GETS religion classes are not meant to drain your life or be the hardest class you take. He is a great lecturer and i cannot stress this enough, there is only ONE midterm which is LITERALLY just the section headings and all the quizzes *verbatim*. and then the final which is the same thing. #love
Professor Dorius is probably the only religion professor that I actually felt inspired by. He is hilarious and his lectures are inspirational. You don't have to show up to pass, but I would recommend going to class just for the quality of lecture
The Religion professor that understands his classes shouldn't be overwhelming. His tests are the easiest tests you will ever have. Just show up to class, do the readings, remember to do your 5 minute assignment after each class and you'll get an A.
Brother Dorius is truly an inspirational man, and great professor. He really cares about his students and his lectures were directed toward very applicable and every day kind of things. Truly felt inspired by him, such a great guy. If you ever get the chance to take him, do it!!!!
Brother Dorius' class is fairly easy. However, don't except it to be an easy A. The cut off for an A is 95%. You have to make sure you do well on everything. Only missing a few points could drop you to an A-. His tests aren't bad, but you have to memorize a lot of information to do well. Be careful. Quizzes are the hardest part about the class.
Easiest, but most rewarding professor.
Brother Dorius is one of the best religion teachers at BYU,he is also one of the most kind individuals I have ever met. He is very clear with his expectations and his lectures are amazing. This is one religion class you need to take while at BYU. Hands down, this was the best religion class I've taken at BYU. Easy, fun, and incredibly amazing class
Lectures aren't there for you to ingest and then regurgitate a bunch of information on a test. His lectures are in-depth and there for you to understand principles. His quizzes are based on the reading and the tests are the exact same questions as the quizzes so if you study those you get an A. I feel enlightened when I go, plus I get an easy A :)
He had some good lectures, but it wasn't super life-changing. Really nice man, though, and he intentionally makes it easy to get an A so that you can focus on the spiritual rather than just getting the grade.
Really simple class where you can actually feel the spirit and learn instead of pointless memorization like many religion classes. The quizzes are the final and midterm and reading is applicable to life. Such a great class!
The combination of Brother Dorius' lectures and the required readings made this a very inspirational class. Grading was clear and is based a lot on self-evaluation. He addressed difficult topics well, and I genuinely feel more prepared for marriage and have a better understanding of how to approach my current relationships with family and friends.
Brother Dorius is great because there is wonderful discussion in his class and the tests are more of a review than anything. You can really feel the Spirit and if you put in the effort, you will learn something new every day. Going to class is a must because you grade your attendance on a weekly basis.
If you are looking for the right religion professor with a light workload, look no further. Grade is based on reading quizzes (pshh), journals (easy), attendance (self-reported), one midterm and a final (based on the quizzes). Bro Dorius runs his class the way all religion professors should. Spiritual and academic, but simple. Register for him now!
A lot of the lectures weren't super riveting, but if you try to get something out of it, you will. Plus, the tests are almost exclusively made up of questions from the quizzes, so those are easy to do well on. He doesn't want to make the class difficult. Just remember to do the daily journal and reading quizzes and you'll be fine.
Great Professor, He really cares about the doctrine he teaches and isn't afraid to answer questions you have. Quizzes are super easy, and tests are fine as long as you study notes from lectures.
This is how religion classes should be on BYU. This is soooo easy, but I enjoyed every class that I came to. By not demanding much grade wise, you were able to pay attention feel the spirit and learn what you needed to learn. There are a lot of assignments that are very easy but can be easy to forget about.
Loved this class. He's incredibly articulate in speaking about things regarding the church, and I found him to be amazing at resolving concerns. For anyone with major questions regarding doctrine of the family, I would recommend this class.
Best religion class out there. Also make sure to take his Eternal family, and other part of D&C. Super easy. Midterm is a compilation of all quizzes. Quizzes are easy, and Journals are subjective. This is how all religion classes should be. Dorius is a funny dude.
If you can't get an A in this class, rethink your enrollment at BYU. It's way easy. All you have to do is remember to do your attendance, journals and quizzes. I loved his lectures, because he used logic to explain principles that create a happy family. For me, that made it a more spiritual experience.
Dorius is the man! He understand that as students, we have a lot going on for other classes and doesn't want to make a religion class a headache for us. The class is super easy, yet engaging and beneficial. Show up, do the reading, and you will get an A.
Brother Dorius was great, but I felt like a lot of the class was based on his opinion and stories. The class is extremely easy, to the point where learning is not encouraged. I didnt feel like the class was spiritually uplifting, it just felt like a lot of busy work.
Bro. Dorius is great. His idea of how religion class should be set up is perfect. Tests are not stressful. He does require you to attend class, which is a large chunk of your grade. He focuses on helping you have opportunities to feel the spirit so you can take notes on what an eternal family is composed of. Lots of reading HW and quizzes, so read.
Brother Dorius is a really awesome guy. He knows his stuff, and he is passionate about what he teaches. You can also go to him about personal struggles or issues and he's super helpful and caring. His class is incredibly easy if you do the work and show up. One of my favorite religion classes.
Brother Dorius has easily been my favorite religion professor at BYU. I feel like there are a good number of them that try to make their classes too intellectual and less about helping you feel the Spirit and strengthen your testimony. Brother Dorius has incredible lectures that help increase your gospel knowledge and leave you feeling the Spirit.
Also had him for 200 The Eternal Family. Easy peasy. Light workload - journal entries, reading quizzes, 1 midterm and final. There is potential for you getting 100 on the midterm. You will have time to focus on your other classes. Just sit back, relax, and listen. Better hurry and register for him quick before the waitlist gets long.
Easiest professor you will ever have at BYU. Period.
LOVE THIS CLASS! Finally a religion prof that understands! Bro Dorius says our religion is not meant to be complicated, so neither will his class. I got 100% on the midterm! His tests are matching and MC and literally verbatim the quizzes! Bless his soul
Pretty good religion professor. His lectures are obviously the best part, but the readings are good too. As long as you do the work, you'll pretty much get an A. Tests are easy. Not the most extroardinary rel prof I've ever had, but pretty good. Definitely knows his doctrine.
You have to try to get a grade lower than an A. He is a great storyteller and wants you to relax, be inspired, and feel the Spirit; so, he has his class be the easiest religion class you will ever take. The midterm and final take the questions directly from the reading quizzes. No big assignments, only small reading journals, and reading quizzes.
Brother Dorius was my favorite teacher, he gave the best lectures. He told amazing stories and gave great new perspectives. CAUTION: watch out for the many due dates, there's a lot of assignments to keep track of and missing just one assignment can get you an A- in the class
Best religion Professor you can find! Take the class from Dorius!! Finally a religion Professor where you get something out of class instead of stressing for nitpicky tests. You grade yourself on attendance, and have a short reading quiz due before each class on various conference talks. MIdterm and final are just the reading quiz questions! Easy!
Loved his class, but his lectures weren't very interesting. You are graded on daily journals from class, attendance and reading quizzes. The quizzes are open book so it's really easy. Midterm and Final are copy-and-paste all the quizzes. If you are looking for an easy A, this is the class for you.
As others have said this is an easy class. You should know that Prof. Dorius is very socially conservative, even for BYU, which may be off putting in an eternal families class, but if it doesn't bother you, then this is a good option for your religion credit. Don't bother to buy the textbook, he gives it as a pdf online.
BYU honestly doesn't deserve Brother Dorius. Super easy class. I'd say the only reason I got an A- was because I sometimes forgot to mark my own attendance or do the journals after the lecture. Midterm and final are all the questions from the reading quizzes. Don't bother buying the textbook, there's a free PDF version.
Best religion class I've taken at byu. it's and easy class so you can actually pay attention to content and learn something. One quiz on the reading per week, midterm and final are just the same questions as the quizzes. Never tested on lectures. He's funny and an entertaining lecturer.
Dorius is very conservative, even for BYU. If this own't bug you, his class is an easy A-. Miss a few points on a quiz or an attendance and you are in jeopardy of an A-.
Most people slept through class and I guarantee you they will all get and A or A-. Amazingly, I actually listened to his lectures. He was pretty opinionated, but he doesn't stray from true doctrine.
Super easy, this guy needs to be translated. People who say Doruis is very conservative haven't talked to him one on one. He holds some liberal opinions on things, but NOT on matters of the family. The doctrine of the family is by nature conservative since new liberalism is trying to change EVERYTHING and doctrine doesn't change.
THE QUIZZES ARE THE TESTS!!!!! Attendance isn't mandatory, but his lectures are incredible. Do well on the quizzes and then go over them before your tests and you'll ace the class.
Brother Dorius is pretty conservative when it comes to doctrine of the family. If that bothers you I wouldn't take him. Super easy A as long as you remember to do the quizzes and journals. Tests are a breeze.
This man knows what a religion class should be! If you put in work, you get an A. Easy as that. We had to write half page journals for each lecture which Im so glad he did. They helped me internalize what I learned and made me work a little without making the class overly difficult.
He clearly and honestly says how to get an A at the start. You're expected to read a few General Conference talks and such every week. I usually looked them up on YouTube and listened while I did other stuff. His lectures in class are AWESOME! I left class nearly every time feeling more knowledgeable about the gospel, its purpose, and my purpose.
The rumors are true: this is the easiest class at BYU. Yet, it was the most spiritually enriched and enlightened I've felt in a class. He cares so much about his students, and he teaches the material in such an inspired way. You don't need to go to class because his tests are literally the reading quizzes, but you'll want to go because he's so good
I was not as impressed with Professor Dorius's D&C class as I was with his Eternal Families class, but still a good class. Same basic requirements of reading quizzes, journal entries attendance and exams.
Brother Dorius is one of the best religion professors i have had to date. It's easy to do well in his class if you attended and do the reading quizzes. There are no study guides for the midterm and final, but honestly you don't need them. All of the questions for the midterm and final are from the weekly reading quiz.
Brother Dorius was one of my favorite professors, he's just a cool guy and makes the class easy enough but still important and inspiring. Lots and lots of talks to read every day that you are quizzed over. But the tests are so easy, they are just the exact same questions from your reading Quizzes, so memorize all the quizzes and you'll get a 100%
An AMAZING guy. This was the easiest class I have ever taken in my life. He understands that students have harder classes that they care more about so he tries to make it less like a class and more like a devotional. I got a 100% on the midterm and final. No papers. I missed a few reading quizzes early on and he let me redo them months later.
The only good thing about the class was that it was super easy. You don't learn much and boring stories.
One of my top professors of all time. Lectures are very engaging and homework is very minimal.
Bro Dorius said it best 1st day of class "Im getting too old to teach". If youre looking for an easy A, go with him but I guess I was pretty disappointed because I expected to be more inspired each class apart from our out of class readings. 1/3 of the classes are on intimacy in marriage. Hes a great guy but not the most passionate/humorous teacher
By far the easiest class offered at BYU and it was super interesting at the same Time. Brother Dorius is the best!
Easily the best religion class at BYU. Professor Dorius gets that religion classes are meant to be a place to feel the Spirit and get a good grade. He doesn't make you stress and prioritize his class over other classes.
Guy is very interesting and gives good lectures. He is very clear with the grading criteria. There are weekly reading assignments, as long as you don't get behind the class is very easy.
Easily the best religion professor I've ever had!! SO AMAZING I would recommend his class 110%. Attendance isn't mandatory, however you will miss out on amazing lectures if you don't go. Final/midterm are word 4 word from the quizzes. He is so straight forward and upfront about all family topics and teaches with amazing stories. He's the best!!
Taking this class from Dorius was one of my best decisions. I absolutely loved this class and loved Brother Dorius. He is so wise and funny so his lectures were interesting as well as beneficial. He wants us to succeed! I always felt the Spirit and learned so much. The readings take time but they are also beneficial, and the tests/quizzes are easy.
Brother Dorius is GREAT. His class is structured so the Spirit teaches you more than "comprehensive tests". You really just need to show up to get attendance points, write a journal after each class, and take quizzes that are based on a packet that's online (he puts the link on learning suite- ctrl F is your best friend during those you're welcome)
If you are looking for a religion teacher that requires almost no effort to get an A, then Bro. Dorius is the right guy for you. His class is everything you can hope for in a religion class! It is stress-free, easy, and his tests are word for word from his quizzes. Take this class!
Brother Dorius is the sweetest person. He definitely was a storyteller but it was interesting and I enjoyed going to class. His tests are super easy and if you do the journals, take the quizzes, and show up to class, you will pass with no problem.
You can't go wrong here. Easiest class ever. Teaches doctrine very effectively and clearly. On the rare occasion that he gives his opinion rather than what the Brethren have explicitly stated, he disclaims it as such.
Reading quizzes, short journal entries, attendance points. The midterm and final each took me 12 minutes to complete and I got 100%. I also liked and learned a lot from his lectures too, he's entertaining.
Brother Dorius is THE best professor for Eternal Families. There's only 2 tests (a midterm and a final) and they're just the reading quizzes from each half of the semester. The class is so interesting and the only other grades you have is an online attendance quiz each week and a reading quiz once a week. A super easy A.
Professor Dorius' class is extremely easy. Warning: the only reason people don't get an A is because you need to have a 95% for an A and if you miss one of the ton of little quizzes and responses (which are EASY) then you can't make them up period. TESTS ARE THE QUIZZES. Also; I found this class really boring and filled with his opinions.
I was struggling a lot outside of class when I was in this course. Brother Dorius could tell, and he asked me to talk with him after class one day. He listened and gave me advice, and he also worked with me on my struggling grade. His class was not the most exciting class I've taken, but it was VERY easy, and he is an incredible individual.
He is the best! I love his class. He has a great insight in the gospel and is such a good guy. TAKE HIS CLASSES!!!! YOU WONT REGRET IT!
Brother Dorius is one of the best religion teachers around. He makes getting an A easy so that you can focus on actually learning relevant gospel topics, instead of just memorizing information for a test. Plus he's a good lecturer and really funny.
Dorius is the BEST! He is so kind. I have learned so much from him and look forward to his class every day. I wish I could take this class every semester. His tests are sooo easy! I studied for 30 min and got 100% TAKE THIS CLASS!!!! You will not regret it!!
Brother Dorius is the best religion professor I have had so far! He is hilarious and I learned a lot from his lectures. His class is super easy, but I still got a lot out of it. The reading for each class is just a couple of conference talks and the quizzes for the readings are open note. The exams are the exact same questions as the quizzes.
take dorius for what you can! he is so wise and his class is so easy. his d&c class is a tad more work than eternal families but still super chill, just study what he tells you before the tests and you're good
Brother Dorius is amazing. He is very open and honest. He understands that the class is about the gospel, not the grade. The decent part of the grades come from attendance quizzes, short journal entries, and reading quizzes. The midterm and final are very easy. And, Brother Dorius gives amazing lectures.
Dorius was awesome! Class wasnt as difficult as expected. Maybe 2 hours of reading, journaling, and quizzes per week. You HAVE to stay on top of the reading, though. The midterm and final were super easy. He really does care about the students, and created a really great atmosphere.
Easiest class ever. Final and midterm are literally just the quiz questions. I took the 65 question final in less than 8 minutes and only missed one question. He really just focuses on our spiritual growth. There are reading quizzes once a week online (open note), journals due after class, and attendance reports. Super funny and knowledgable!
Brother Dorius is a great teacher. He is super blunt but not in a bad way. Tests are easy. Basically easiest A I have ever gotten at BYU. Take him for spiritual insight and a good grade.
Everything you want in a professor. He genuinely cares about you. My testimony grew so much throughout the class. He never strayed from doctrine but was also considerate while speaking about subjects that may be sensitive for some. Every lecture was so spiritual and funny. Also, he couldnt really make the class any easier. Take this class!!!!
Might be the easiest class you'll probably ever take at BYU. You grade yourself on if you went to class and did your reading. The tests are the weekly quizzes. Minimal amount of work and super cool teacher.
Best professor to take any religion class from. Eternal Families was amazing with him. He gives great insights and is extremely helpful. Dorius gives students what they want in a religion class. A low-stress class that is inspiring and spiritually enhancing. Attend class, take an easy quiz, easy test, weekly journals. Simple!
SO EASY!!! That's all I have to say. You can literally skip almost everyday and still get 100% on the midterm and final (hint: that's what I did). But if you actually do go to class, your testimony can be strengthened lol! :)
As long as you remember the few dead simple things to do every week (like recording attendance and doing really easy quizzes), this class will be an easy A for you.
Brother Dorius's class is one of the best I have ever taken at BYU. This class is really easy but many forget to turn in the little assignments due each class which can really hurt your grade. He has an A at 95% so stay on top of the class and memorize quiz questions for the tests
Hes a really great religion professor. Focused on teaching doctrine and being spiritually uplifting instead of focused on little facts and details. Would take again.
Super easy religion class! Focuses on the doctrine rather than the details. Lecture is really enjoyable. Exams were super easy. There's a reading quiz (really easy) and journal for every class, and a weekly attendance quiz, but as long as you remember to do them, you'll be fine.
He is a great teacher and I can tell that he is very passionate about the topics that he covers. He believes them to be true and practices the principles in his own life. I love how thought out his lessons are and how they all tie in together throughout the semester.
This is the easiest class I have taken at BYU. Bro. Dorius is very knowledgeable and kind, and his lectures are interesting. There are a lot of really small easy assignments, so if you just stay consistent with them you'll pass for sure. It's probably harder to not get an A than it is to get one.
His tests were RIDICULOUS. Test will not be just like the quizzes. He literally made us memorize every single chapter from 1 to 76 for the tests. He made us memorize: numbers, what happened, historical context, and student manual titles for EACH chapter. Studying for the test is USELESS- just memorization and A LOT OF WASTE OF TIME- not easy. HATE
This was the WORST professor I have ever had in my LIFE: quizzes for every class are ridiculous and tricky; too many readings; tests are hard and need hrs of preparation; you never feel the spirit in class; you don't learn ANYTHING in class; his classes are USELESS; and his jokes can hurt people. Summary- don't take it with him.
Brother Dorius is a legend of Provo. I've taken Doctrine and Covenants and now Eternal Families with him and am so glad I did. He understands that religion classes are not in place to wreck your GPA or challenge you. He gets it. This class has 2 tests (just study the reading quizzes) and no projects. Dream come true religion professor.
Super easy class. A weekly reading quiz that is open book. The exams are the exact same questions from the quizzes. 100 word journal for every class. Just be sure to remember to report your attendance and submit your journals on time. This class is an easy A that allows you to learn better because you dont have to be worried about grades.
Great religion class to take. Memorize scripture headings for the test and you will be solid. My suggestion is to memorize the quiz questions as you go so you are stuck with studying an entire guide by the time the tests come. Great professor, take from him!
I took Eternal Families with him and loved it! His class is easy as long as you do the reading and a few quizzes. Midterm and final are a piece of cake. His lectures are always entertaining. He even gave uploaded a PDF of the textbook so we don't have to buy it. I would totally recommend taking religion courses from Brother Dorius!
Bro Dorius is the man. I have taken him twice and absolutely love the dude. He is a great professor
Professor Dorius is such a sweetheart of a man. He is direct and to the point in his online lectures and tells the best stories. The 2 exams were the same as all the quizzes combine that you take before every class period. So if you do well on your quizzes you will get an easy A.
Dorius is such a chill professor, but I still learned so much from his class. He does his best to not add any stress to your life, which was a real blessing. It's a lot of reading, but that's the usual with any religion class. His lectures were entertaining and tests were super easy, just make sure you study the quizzes for the midterm and final.
I took Brother Dorius one year ago. I just heard of his passing back in October. He was one of the best professors. He will be missed by thousands
