Excellent teacher. Easy class if you study and pay attention. Tests are based on reviews that he always gives.

Very helpful professor, willing to stop and explain things or help after class. Reviews are the same as tests. Little annoying, he would actually grade your work and wanted it done the way he wants you to do it.Spends a lot of time on definitions that you learn in 9th grade. I would take him again very EASY!

Mr. Harwell was one of the best teachers I have ever had. If you are lazy do not take this class. Many people dropped the class because of their mentality. If you are really trying to develop a good work ethic take Mr. Harwell. He is not a tough grader. He gives partial credit, so always try to answer. Once again great teacher. P.S test are essays.

He is a good guy (as his name) and is willing to help you if you have question. Though his test might be hard if you don't study hard for it. Would like to take him again.

The class is fairly standard. There is homework due every week on MyMathLab. He has an open classroom environment and doesn't criticize students for not understanding. I enjoyed his talks about Math. They were insightful and showed me how I needed to work harder. If you do the MyMathLab homework and glance over the book for each, you'll do fine. QT

his class is pretty basic, you go in every class he will teach do some examples thats it. His class isn't hard he isn't a bad professor, but just kinda boring he seems really smart. if you are somewhat good at math you'll be fine. you have to do homework though big part of your grade. TAKE college algebra first!!

Before I took the class I had read the reviews of the him and I was worried as I am not that good at math. I was very surprised that the class was not what I was expecting. I found it to be enjoyable and interesting. I did have to study for the class and I asked questions to him, but I found the class to quite fair.

I have always been terrified of math and I had to take a math class so I can get my degree. Mr. Harwell was an inspiration to me as he helped me through the course. I have never really been good at math, but I was able to get a B in the course with Mr. Harwell's help and by studying. DO GO TO CLASS AND STUDY! You may not do well if you don't!

I took this class after reading some reviews and they made me very nervous about this instructor. I will say that if you are looking for a easy A instructor then he is not going to be for you . However, I did not find the other reviews to be true and they made me really nervous for no reason. But yes you will have to study and do homework .

This is an amazing professor. I actually learned something about math (which I never thought was possible). Yes, you do need to study and yes you do need to work at passing, but hey this is college and not high school right!

This is honestly the best professor I ever had. I am NOT a math person and I really hated math before this professor. Just pay attention in class, take notes, and DO THE HOMEWORK! Took him for a 3 week mini in Statistics. Honestly one of the best math professors I've ever had. He cares about the class and takes time to make sure we understand everything. I dont know why ppl are giving this professor bad reviews, because he is one of the best math teachers in San Jac.! I just took statistics in a 3week mini which was extremely intense! This class is no joke. You have to not only show up to class, keep up with homework and study. Profesor Harwel made sure we had all resources for us to succeed!

This was my 7th math class at Lone Star and I have to say he is the best professor I have ever taken. This course is very organized and easy to work into a full-time schedule. So many professors don't care when you send them emails for help he does. While you teach yourself mostly he is still an incredible professor who cares about his students.

I can say with confidence that this professor knows what he is teaching. If you pay attention and engage in the material, this class isnt difficult. I really appreciated this professor because he often explained the relevance of math in the real world. Its likely the negative reviews are the result of lazy students who dont want to work.

Really the best professor I've ever had. Started my first semester in college with a great experience. Made math really fun. Really straightforward and actually knew his stuff. Extremely helpful too. Had a wonderful time in his class listening to his lectures. He uses MyMathLab, but I have not take any math classes that don't use MyMathLab. The reviews really helped me alot. Make sure to do your homework! As a note I got help at the tutoring center at my school and this made alot of difference.

I really liked this professor. He is a very interesting and kind teacher, who has alot of interest in helping. You do have to ask questions and talk with him if you want feedback. I would stay and ask him questions after class. You do need to do your homework and I agree with the reviewer that using the tutoring center is helpful.

This is a amazing professor. I am not really good at math or anything and I got a A+ in his class! I did do the homework and take the exams (I guess some people don't even want to do that and complain about the teacher!), but it was really easy. I would definatelly recommend this professor!

His way of teaching the class meets my expectations. He teaches the class with lots of passion. He goes quick with the powerpoints, but it's not an issue since he uploads them on Blackboard for us to use. On MyMathLab, there is a lot of homework but it is certainly doable and helps you practice those problems. You have to study if you want to pass!

This is a real great professor. I feel kinda sorry for those who don't do well in his class as it is really easy. I am HORRIBLE at math and Mr. Harwell was VERY encouraging and patient with me. The class was a great class for me. It was my last math class before I went on to graduate and I had put it off as long as I could (I was not very good at math). I really don't understand the negative reviews as this is a real gem of a professor. The negative reviews complain about a PowerPoint lecture that you are given and this really helped with my notetaking in the course. WOW what a great prof. I don't know what the negative people are talking about. He gave retakes on quizzes and extra credit if you asked him. I was in the same online class and so many people just really loved him! I learned so much. I was nervous about the class (because of the people saying negative things), but I was so wrong. So many people made A's that I didn't think it was possible in a math class. If you can't make a really good grade with mr. harwell then you can't with anyone. There were some people who didn't do well (I guess you at least have to do some work) and you can see there negativity here, but WOW I am so glade I took him as my average has gone up. WOW!

I was in Mr. Harwell's Algebra class and he is nothing like the reviews say. He was very clear on how to work the problems and would answer all questions. I appreciate stories as this makes the class more interesting. If you don't make a A then that is your fault. The tests was exactly like the homework and he gave extra time for homework.

I was in college algebra for Professor Harwell and was very surprised about how good he is. I really hate math and I am not going to use it in my degree, but I had to take algebra to transfer to the school I want. He made it easy to understand and was very clear about grading and tests. Prof Harwell is great. Lectures really make sense and I usually suck at math he made Stats easy. If you have a question ask he will answer. He has reviews for every test and if you do them YOU WILL PASS THE TEST! His tests are good but when he grades he will grade you on everything so always show your work and label and you WILL pass this class.

Taking Professor Harwell's class was an enjoyable experience. He is intelligent and his math examples and occasional life talks are interesting to learn from. He always asks if we had questions. The grading criteria was clear, and consistently followed the whole semester. He mostly uses powerpoints, but does explain/work problems out in writing.

Prof. harwell is a really good prof. He cares and I loved his stores and lectures. I read the book and did the homework and the tests were really easy. OMG this professor is amazing! He's Princeton level quality. I can't believe there aren't more professors out there who actually encourage students to learn and not just tell them what to do every day. Guy, Is a very knowledge able professor he is very clearly passionate about mathematics and he will go on rants about it which i found quite interesting ,regardless he is a wonderful professor that tells you exactly what he expects.

The exams are very similar to the questions we solved in class and the reviews, which usually have about 25-35 questions.
