very easy... just go to class... pay attention and print off lecture notes and you'll do fine. I am an education major and got an A in his class
Do not take this guy if you have trouble following.... He jumps from one subject to the other and back again CONSTANTLY!! This of course means he takes forever to explain the most simple of topics.
He's a nice guy, but his class sucks, kinda hard to follow where he's going with his lectures, spends too much time on each topic, makes you write a 1-page paper every week on your reading, don't take him if ou can get someone else.
He is really easy and helpful. A little unclear but he is very willing to help you. You will come out with a higher grade than you think!!!
His lectures are horrible. They wouldn't be if the class would speak up but it's a required core course so most of the people in there don't want to be. He grades easy and you'll make a good grade if thats all you want.
Class is boring, I admit. But he's really easy when it comes to grading; it's pretty hard to make below a B if you just turn everything in on time.
turn in assignments & read over lecture notes. you can pretty much just bs your way through this class if you bother to show up. i never did the readings & still made an a.
took him for medical ethics. was miserable in class-he managed to make interesting stuff incredibly boring. attendance is required. he assigns weekly assignments that you can BS and still get credit for. tests are essay questions, but not too hard.
Gives weekly short papers. Reading is required and book is boring. Class isnt too interesting. If you print off notes then tests are a breeze. Do the papers and go to class and you will do well.
He reminds me of that guy on Scrubs! He's kinda hard, but if you do the homework and try to understand it, you should be fine. He lets you drop your lowest test score which is really nice. He's really not so bad...
He is hard and boring. His tests are impossible and after the first 2 weeks you cant understand the material. He does not explain what your doing and he does not use the book that often so you cant rely on it for reference. GET OUT!!!!
Material would be more difficult, but he takes forever explaining everything, so in the end you don't have to learn that much. Anyone with decent problem solving skills will find this class very easy to get an A in.
I don't know what the other person was talking about but Guy is a wonderful teacher. The class is very easy and not hard to understand. Contrary to what the other person said, he goes straight from the book most of the time. You can get an easy A as long as you just study and pay attentino in class.
very easy but very boring
Extremely easy. This class is pretty boring though. If you do the problems in the book you should make an A.
enjoyed learning the stuff b/c he didnt make it so complicated. Essay exams, but if you do the hw you should be fine. He liked open discussion and input from the class. It was good though, its a break from other stressful classes. I would definetly recommend him.

He will try to intimidate you on the first day, but I think it is because he wants the stupid people to drop it. Pay attention during lectures and study the study guide thoroughly and you will be fine.
This was supposed to be a 1000 class. I took him in the summer..I don't suggest that. He is very boring and spends a ton of time on the easy stuff but a short time on the hard stuff. I thought I would like Ethics but ended up hating it. I made a B but had to study my butt off to get it. His tests are VERY tricky!!
Good teacher and easy- just really look over the study guides he gives. I like philosophy more after taking this class. The only bad thing is mandatory attendance.
If you are interested in this subject and enjoy thinking really deep about everything, this class should be a breeze. If you enjoy things which are simple and straight to the point, then this class will kick your butt. Funny guy though.
Guy is a strange fellow, very very knowledgeable, but doesn't really fit in at Auburn. His class was challenging to say the least. He is a pretty fair grader and is generally very helpful outside of class. His MLA citation policy is strange--he doesn't have one, but beware, does hold you accountable for citations
I don't even know where to begin?!?! He is a knowledgeable guy, I'll give him that much, but he's just bizzare to say the least! His tests r mult choice but aren't to be taken lightly!!! If there are any other profs available look into them before you decide. But if you have to take him be prepared for long confusing lectures and VERY TRICKY exams.
Guy is the best! I dropped Intro to Ethics twice before getting in his class. He explains everything thoroughly. If you pay attention, the class should be easy. You don't really need to read the book- just write down everything he says/puts on the board. Review your notes for the multiple choice tests, and it should be easy.
Guy is pretty cool. He is sometimes hard to understand, but it's evident that he knows what he is talking about. The class is hard, but it's more a comprehensive learning than one of a studious nature. If you go to class and discern what you've learned each day, you should at least come out with a B.
Guys is my fav! I've taken four classes with him and loved each one! He such a great teacher, makes material interesting. Class is fun! Tests aren't bad. You should def take him!
Great teacher! Attendance is mandatory but it is incredibly worth it. Learned alot from this class. He definitely knows what he is talking about. Tests are a little tricky but not too bad if you read the book and pay attention in class.
This is the Ethics teach you want. He gives extra credit that can amount to 6.5% points at the end of the semester. His lectures are easy to follow. Much better teacher than my friends' ethics teachers. Take Guy! :)
I joined the Philosophy, Politics, and Economics learning community and had this one credit hour class with Rohrbaugh. He's really cool and fun to talk to outside of class. He gives extra credit, and he doesn't like to put up with students who don't care. He explains things pretty well and tries his best to answer questions. I really liked him!
I enjoed this class. Dr. Rohrbaugh made sure that you understood because he went over concepts really slowly. I actually did not read the book at all and still ended up with an A in the class. Yes attendance is mandatory but to be honest the only wayto do good on the tests is to go to class, pay attention and take good notes.
Great guy, easy to talk to. All the book quizzes, midterm, and final are online. Explains things well and answers all the questions you might have. Made me enjoy being in the Political science, Philosophy, and Economics learning community.
Really nice guy. He makes the material crystal clear. If you pay attention in class, the test will not be hard at all. He is super helpful if you have a need or a question as well. I would definitely take him, but you will have to use your head in order to make an A. He gives a good amount of extra credit as well.
Force yourself to go to class, pay attention, and use your head and it will be an easy A. He gives extra credit every week and his tests don't require much studying if you pay attention in class. He gives out a study guide before each test with very very very helpful summary of everything in class that REALLY helped on the test. Take him!
The class seems very tough at first and he will try to scare you. I thought i was going to fail and I ended up making a very high A. The weekly quizzes are hard but he gives extra credit each week that helps a TON! The tests aren't bad if you pay attention in class and he gives a very good study guide. He is not very nice bit the class isn't to bad
I'd definitely recommend Dr Guy. He takes attendance every day and it's worth 5% of your final grade, but if you go to class and pay attention in class, you won't have to do much studying for the exams. There's online quizzes for the reading, but it's not too bad and there's also weekly extra credit quizzes.
Class was pretty difficult. You have to pay attention in class or you will get lost. He gives a lot of quizzes and extra credit. A big part of his class is participation. its 15 percent.
Guy is a very, very good teacher. He presents the material very well. There are readings and reading quizzes that are not too difficult. The tests are somewhat confusing, but what do you expect from a philosophy class? Extra credit is given and will bump your grade up tremendously. I cannot say enough about this Guy.
LOTS OF READING!!! Had to read many journals and essays written by PhD's for PhD's. It was extremely difficult to understand many of the concepts. I struggled in this class. He does give extra credit every week. DO IT. The extra credit is the only reason I got an A in this class. He tries to trick you on the quizzes so make sure to do the reading!
Guy is a super chill professor and is willing to help you but his tests can be hard if you do no understand the material clearly. If you go to class and do the readings then you will be fine. He offers bonus weekly that will help out a ton in the end.
He is a no bull kind of professor. He explains everything in the simplest of terms and gives plenty of examples. He's a really cool and funny Guy (ba dum tiss) and his lectures reflect that. It wasn't hard to get an A. I really recommend him.
tons of extra credit, all reading is on canvas so no books! super clear and easy to take notes from. take him if you can! i loved this class! attendance is 15% of grade and up to 7% extra credit!
Tries to scare you on the first day, but the class really isn't bad. Gives up to 7.5 extra credit points to your FINAL grade if you take optional, easy quizzes (do them). Participation is 15% of the grade. I hate talking in class but this was actually really easy. Tests and quizzes are online & open note. The material is pretty interesting.
This was the hardest course I have taken at Auburn. Don't let him fool you with the tests being online and open note, he does it because the questions are so hard and ambiguous. The whole semester is on the Nature of Moral Right and Wrong... not about why things are ethical. You MUST attend class, he takes attendance every day w/ no unexcused given
Guy Rohrbaugh is one of the smartest, most honest, and funniest people you'll ever meet. He is a great teacher.
Guy knows his stuff and he makes it very easy to learn for beginners of philosophy. His lectures are structured very well and his use of Canvas features is perfect. Use the extra credit that he offers you, participate in class discussions, and keep an open mind and you'll do fine in his class. Also he's really funny.
Guy is the best professor at Auburn. The class is reading-heavy, but he usually just summarizes them in his lectures immediately after. He is very thorough in answering questions & is very accessible outside of class. There is an extra credit opportunity every week. He is very laid-back, approachable, & makes philosophy understandable. TAKE HIM!
This class wasn't terrible. I really enjoyed the material but we always has a lot to read and it was time-consuming. He's funny and there are plenty of opportunities for extra credit. There are also lots of grades so take that as you will. I think it's a good thing because if I bomb some quiz I have many chances to bring it up.
Guy is a pretty cool dude. Interesting lectures and he's funny. All quizzes are online and some discussions are online. Class participation is 10% of your grade. Supplemental video lectures are given through canvas as well as all readings. Not too difficult if you pay attention in class and do the readings.
Cool dude. Great class if you apply yourself. I very much enjoyed learning from him. Take the online class, it is the bees knees.
I really enjoyed this class structure! All of the tests and quizzes are online and you can take them anytime until the due date. The lectures are long and can be boring and he takes attendance everyday. However, he posts videos explaining the topics covered in class and provides tons of easy extra credit quizzes. I would recommend this class!
Best Active Learning class I've yet to take. Dr. Rohrbaugh has a keen sense of humor and is a great lecturer. The class activities were not only engaging but truly helped one better understand the texts in question. He was willing to discuss and helpfully critique my papers before they were due. This class provides a great philosophical foundation.
This class is not easy. Guy gives you a ton of reading to do. He makes his quiz/test questions very vague. His tests are online now so you can try to find the answers using your notes (not very helpful) or by reading notes on the readings. He calls roll attendance every day, no free passes if you accidentally miss class.
Don't take this class. Don't let the online quizzes and tests fool you. This class was the worst. The tests are super hard and he tells you that the quizzes have nothing to do with them but they do. His lectures are hard to follow and when I went to his office hours (numerous times btw) for help, he only made it worse. It's a miracle I have a B rn.
The class is really not hard at all if you take all of the extra credit quizzes and regular quizzes on time. You can get away with not reading anything and just guessing on the quizzes because he gives you two shots at it. Just pay attention in class (which is easy because he is very entertaining) and don't skip class.
Good class. Tests are hard but are open book, open internet. You have to prepare in order to succeed on them. Weekly quizzes, takes the average of two scores. Option to complete extra credit which adds 5% to your grade and an 89 is considered an A. Watch the lectures and do the readings and post to the discussion boards and you'll be fine.
TERRIBLE. His wording on every exam quiz/assignment is RIDICULOUS. I am a senior, 'A' student. The class average on exams should NOT be C/Ds in ETHICS. Apparently there are wrong opinions that don't deserve unbiased grading- he only counts opinions that match his own. You spend so much time just trying to interpret his poor wording. TAKE ELSEWHERE!
Although he is a nice guy, he is so boring to listen to. The class is "active learning" so you have to participate. I never have understood any of the material in the class. The tests are online on your own time, but they are very difficult. I definitely don't recommend this class and Dr. Rohrbaugh makes it harder by not lecturing.
Ok, Philosophy is a class you're required to take at Auburn. Dr. Rohrbaugh, as I've heard is the "lesser of all evils" professors and while he's not terrible and seems nice, the active learning setup is terrible. Advice I wish I would've known: WATCH THE VIDEOS! You'll think they're a waste of time but they'll help you do well. It's a tough class.
To me, Guy is one of the best professors I've ever had. He makes the material interesting, and if you pay attention in class an take notes, the tests should be easy. The bulk of the grade is done through assignments, and he gives 7.5% extra credit to be added unto your overall score. However, he does talk slowly, and he draws out his points.
Honestly his class is so easy if you show up to every single class and do the extra credit and journal entries. His tests were pretty hard, but I still made a high A in the class just by showing up and working in class and doing all the extra credit and journal entries. I really suggest you take him if you just need to knock out an ethics credit.
Very easy class, all his test are online and open note. Gives extra credit every week that adds up to 7.5 points on overall grade. No final exam. You just have to go to class to do group work and you'll get an A.
He is awesome!!!! Take him! Online Tests and thats all Im going to say!!!
He is an exceptional teacher who is definitely accessible in office hours and wants to help you succeed with this tough material. His tests are all online but they are quite difficult but if you got to class then you should be fine. Also if you miss you cannot get credit on in-class assignments. He can be long-winded but will answer any questions.
Rohrbaugh is an incredibly interesting guy who is passionate about his material. While attendance is technically only a small percentage of the grade, you will have daily in class participation assignments with your group that add up to a large portion of the grade. Would recommend him if you need to take a philosophy course and watch his videos.
Prof Rohrbaugh is a great. He is very serious about the things he teaches and he expects his students to give effort in class. Some of the things can be challenging to process, but they provoke a lot of good thinking that has to do with morals which is super interesting. The way he teaches it is very good, but you MUST be able to work with others.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS. I took this online and the modules he gave were absurdly long, with videos and written descriptions. The tests were open note and would ask questions on material that was never discussed. Had to withdraw due to not being about raise my grade no matter how much additional effort I put in.
Overall good professor. I was a little surprised at first, because you do have to put in more effort than I expected. But Dr. Rohrbaugh is very helpful if you reach out, and always willing to take time to explain things for you. You DO have to put in effort to be successful, this is not an easy A class.
5% extra credit/No essays/4 hard exams/Easy reading quizzes/Basic discussion boards. This is a hard subject, so don't think it's an english class. STUDY THE VIDEOS. TAKE NOTES. All material is in the vids but you can't skim them. This is one of the only online profs I've had in humanities who actually taught the class. No BS videos from YT randos.
Worst professor I've ever had by far. He doesn't teach you anything and doesn't expect himself to. He rambles for about 15 minutes on the material and most of the time will not make any relevant or correlating points. Expects you and your group to "figure it out". He seems spaced out and hard to reach. Worst collegiate experience of my life.
BE READY TO READ!! Before every class, you have readings to complete along with short quizzes. He will lecture for the entire class on whatever comes to mind and does not explain the material well at all. He will only give you "non-answer answers." The majority of the work you do does not get any feedback and you will feel overwhelmed for exams.
Great professor. Ethics is a prereq and Dr. Rohrbaugh understands that. He makes the active learning classes enjoyable. Tests are kind of difficult, but watching his lecture videos and taking notes will help you a lot. Tests were open note. Lots of opportunity for extra credit and other assignments to boost your grade.
He's an amazing teacher, and I would recommend him to anyone considering philosophy at Auburn!
I'm bad at ethics, but this class is easy to score well in. He gives you a group that you work on activities with every day. As long as you just complete them you get full credit. the only thing not completion based is tests. I did poorly on tests but still got an A bc all the points. class is mandatory! cannot stress enough how easy this class was
If you go to class and do all the extra credit and journal assignments you will end with an A. The tests were hard, but even after doing poorly on pretty much all of them, I still ended with an A. Overall, I would recommend this professor for anyone looking for an easy ethics class at Auburn.
Dr. Rohrbaugh is a great professor, although the class in nature is quite confusing and difficult, he really cares about his students and tries to make an effort and help us make good grades if we try. No textbook so very lecture heavy and tests are quite difficult but plenty of assignments and extra credit make it easy. Exams are open-book
Long lectures that are confusing. Homework every night. Journals every week. Sometimes keep talking after class is over. Offers some extra credit. Most assignments in class are completed with your group.
Basically lectures the whole time with checkpoint quizzes that are on Quizlet. So many easy extra credit opportunities that save your grade. I got 60s on the test but easily finished with an A.
His class was overall very boring and more of a lecture even though it was supposed to be active learning. He is very passionate about philosophy, but almost to a scary point where he's just talking to himself. You are mostly teaching yourself throughout the class so you don't realize what you do and don't know until the tests. Overall would avoid.
I absolutely loved this professor. The class is very difficult in nature, but from day 1 he made me interested in the subject. He is very knowledgeable and passionate on the subject. The tests are difficult to score highly on, but he offers many smaller assignments to help keep your grade up, including weekly bonus assignments. I highly recommend
Although he talks a lot in class, he puts you in groups, so you work on assignments together. I made C's on all of my tests, but with the activities grades in class, bonus points each week, and a journal entry each week, it is almost impossible to have a bad grade in this class. Just go to class and you will succeed in this course easily.
Fairly easy class. Almost everything is group work and done in class. Most is graded for completeness not correctness. Test can be tricky, but he provides lots of other opportunities to increase your grade.
I bombed all the test, but weekly activity saved my grade. But test is so hard
Class is super easy! He is super passionate about Ethics, but test are all taken at home same with quizzes. Test are hard but barley count towards your grade, you also work with you group and submit two assignments every class and its graded on completion not correction.
he is the goat. loved that we worked in groups the whole semester. tests are open note open internet and are allowed to use chat. very assignment heavy but most are done in class. tests can be difficult, but since there are so many assignments it doesn't bring your grade down. extra credit every week. attendance is graded. loved the class overall
He is a very good teacher and very passionate about what he does. I learned a lot of new perspectives from this class. Although it was annoying that you had to be at every single class (mine was at 8 am) because the group work was 40% of your grade. It is very group based and almost every assignment we did was with your assigned group.
