she is very supportive, great lady. kinda hard to understand at first but stay with it. she is my fav. prof. so far.
If you're looking for a fun and easy lab science, Chem 101 with Khakimova will not dissapoint. She tries very hard to make sure everyone is doing well and if you're having trouble, she'll go out of her way to help her out, even let you re-take quiz. She also gives quite interesting lectures.
Genuinely interested in her students success in her class and in the sciences in general. I was very motivated in her class which was nice. Great teacher but a LOT of work. Worth your time!
She is very concerned with the success of her students. Shw will do more than the average teacher in making sure you understand the material. If you are looking for an easy chem 101, she is great.
AN EASY A!!! Good teacher. As an accent, but if you sit in-front you'll be fine. Easy multiple choice tests! Awesome teacher
The others are right, she's easy if you're going into the Nursing program... if not tuff patooties. Asked her for 3 handouts i missed and received them 3 WEEKS later! Accent is really hard to get by too and i'm pretty good with accents. If you want a real knowledge of chemistry she's not worth your time or money. If you just want a lab she's for u.
must take her, as long as you attend labs, you will without a doubt recieve an A
Don't take if your a science major, or planning to be. She is to easy and relaxed. She allows make-up exams, homework, late assignments. If you need a science credit out of the way, I would take her. She's hard to understand (accent), and has a limited English vocabulary, so it hard to get things expained to you in detail. Nice and supportive.
She is a very sweet and nice professor. If you want an easy A and not have to know as much as most professors expect, take her class. Would recommend her!
Really easy class, she is such a sweetheart, and she really cares about you learning everything, she will change test days if something comes up on your schedule. Take her class!
Very good teacher. She makes sure that students understand all the information. Excellent lectures. Everything on the tests are from her lectures in class, so if you want to do good on the test, you might want to take notes. Overall; a great teacher. Highly recommended for any chemistry student!
She is a nice lady, but very unclear. If I had not read the book, I would not have learned anything. She was lenient in tests, moving them and allowing us to have a cheat sheet at all times. Basically, show up and you get an A, but then again, this was only a lab-less course designed to be easier, so maybe that explains it.
She is the nicest teacher ever. She actually wants you to learn all the material. she will spend extra time with you just so you understand everything. Her tests are fairly easy but her lectures are kinda long and boring. Her accent is a little hard to get used to. She drops your worse test score. TAKE HER!
She is the best teacher in BCC. Very clear Very focused on each student. Lot of homework and paper to turn in but will help study much.
unclear and hard to understand her, fast pace, long and boring. you'll pass if you do the homwork, read the chapters in the book, and go to the labs...basically don't miss class!
a little difficult to understand, but overall a good teacher, if you pay attention and take good notes you'll do fine, i didn't really use my book but its helpful if you can't understand her
Very kind and compassionate Professor! Willing to help you learn and understand. Very 'down-to-earth' examples of how Chemistry works and why. She understands that many Chemistry concepts are hard to grasp, yet she makes the effort to connect to/with all students...who are willing to learn. Best Science Professor, to date!
Her accent makes things a little hard to understand on occassion, she give a lot of handouts and homework, and the tests can be kinda hard. She's very nice though, as well as lenient. Not a very hard A. Overall a good, passionate teacher.
nice with a sense of humor, a pleasure to have as an instructor
omg this teacher is amazing! i love guzel. Therefore im taking 140 with her. her tests are easy and usually lets you use a notecard. DOesnt confuse you. and if you do get confused just write her notes on the test.Basicly she's amazing and very understanding!!! Dont leave BCC w/o taking atleast one class with her. =]
She is awesome. class is so easy. accent makes it a lil difficult at times but she writes everythin out for u so who cares. a notecard is allowed on every test. labs r stupid, as in they're a complete waste of time but hey, they freakin easy. she's extremely nice too. she doesnt mind if u call her at like midnight, thats weird tho.
Very very nice Professor Guzel Khakimova, and very very Beautiful. Sincerely Nick
VERY good teacher!!! great tests- and if you ever have a question on a one, ask her and she will pretty much give you the answers!
Wonderful, warm teacher who really cares about her students and wants them to succeed. There is a definate language barrier that can be frustrating at times. She is also not very organized and it can make the subject very confusing. There is homework and groupwork along with lab and you get to bring a notecard for the tests.
A nice Dr! Not a very intense class. Tests are managable. She really enjoys teaching and would bend over backwards to help students.
Keep concentrate to copy her powerpoint, you won't have any time to disgest when she says. Hard to follow and not easy to understand the concepts sometimes.

Guzel is a good teacher. sometimes there are language barriers when she is giving a lecture but for the most part you can understand her. she is extremely helpful, and will help you with anything. her tests are easier than most other classes. i would recommend her to someone looking for a chem class.
I don't usually complain about an easy class, but this class frusterated me because it was so easy. Every exam/quiz was multiple choice--seemed like she was letting us off easy. She knows her stuff and is very smart, but if you need to know this stuff for the future, make sure to force yourself to learn it and not just write everything on the notes
She is the worst instructor I've ever had. Her lectures are confusing as hell. She's a nice lady. She gives alot of easy points, which is good. I have an A, but not because of her. I had to look through the book and do problems to understand what was going on. She isn't a good choice at all if you want to be prepared for future chemistry classes.
Guzel best professor
Guzel is great! She teaches you what you need to know and is very clear about her expectations. She is a great teacher, and definatly cares about her students. If you need an intro to chem you can't get any better then her.
Khakimova is a great teacher! she would bend over backwards to help her students, and she makes all parts of the chemistry easy to understand. There is a bit of a language barrier, but shes really helpful on tests and homework. I would definently reccomend her!!
Guzel is one of the nicest people you will ever meet, she has such a happy persona it is hard not to like her. I really liked that she didn't make you memorize any equations etc. This class and it was a pretty easy A but there was quite a bit of busywork, dont take her if you have a hard time with grasping concepts, there is a language barrier
I liked her a lot, I would recommend her to every one.
she is a great teacher and I love the way she teaches very organized sometimes the contenst weren't really clear but I still could figured out by myself.Lover her personality comppasionate in regard to teaching I hope she teaches my next chemistry as well :)
Imagine the nicest first grade teacher who sees the best in everybody. Treats people like important individuals and is always willing to go to rediculous bounds to help you succeed. You can make a much higher grade than you desserve in this class, though it is recommended that you learn the material for future chem classes.
the prefect and best teacher ever had. she explain everything u need to know and even go more deep in to it but easy to understand. if you don't understand anything just come to her office and u get everthing in less than 20 minute. she was very helpful in everyway. it hard to fail her class since she give alot of extra credict
She is a very very very very very nice person fill with love and she is very very very very very easy too. Well, you will do a lot of self study because she is not that clear... sometime if you ask her a question she may answer "nobody know.God made it." That is a little ... Take her if you are not major at chem.
Greatest I ever had. Helpful, nice, clear. Homeworks and all lectures will make you get A in this class, and also make you like chemistry. But make sure to attend every lectures.
Straight forward, extremely helful, kind and loving teacher.
Maybe she's good at chemistry, but definitely not at education. She never answers questions clearly. Copy everything in class and you can easily get an A.
If you are not in Chemitry major and really care about GPA, then take her.
She is very very nice person. You have to!! come to every class and lab. She gives a lot of handouts that help you to understand the problem and practise a bit more. She may not be very clear when answering the questions sometimes because of her english but she really cares about her students. She creates great possitive atmosphere in the class.
Guaranteed the whole class an A on the first day as long as you show up. Only glances at homework and labs, so you get either 0 or 100%. Caters to the lowest common denominator in the class. You get extra points at the end of the day if you tell her you didn't understand anything. If you care about your education, do not take her!
If you're not a chem major (or science major) but care about your GPA, take her! Not very clear and doesn't explain anything..she comes in everyday to go over the powerpoint which is basically the textbook and shows how to do problems on the board.
Awesome teacher who goes out of her way to make information accessable to every student. Lots of group work points and lab work, so you should be there every day. Also, points for participation on board. Easy to get a good grade if you are paing attention and do your homework, and concepts are presented in a really easy to grasp way.
This professor is very kind. It is sometimes difficult to understand her, but her positive attitude really helps. Honestly, the only thing I don't like about this class is the animosity created by some disgruntled students who don't understand the material. Too much class time is used to answer their repetitive questions.
This teacher sucks. She is never clear at all and she always brings her life and examples in, which are irrelevant. Please do not take this class.
You literally have to TRY to fail her class. It's so easy to get an A or B. Her exams are all multiple choice and she still gives you partial credit for your work if you do it on the side.
She's nice except and her class overall isn't difficult. If you're moving onto chem163, you'll have to do ALOT of studying on your own. Don't ask her lab questions because she doesn't know either. Stay on her good side and don't ask her too many challenging questions.
she is good
The best teacher ever! I wish all of the teachers were like her. Very helpful and a great grader.
Guzel's class is easier than other chem classes, because she doesn't go over difficult concepts. However, she is very unclear and picks favorites. You must learn on your own, and collaborating with other students because that's what Guzel expects. Honestly, I would have rather had a more difficult professor who actually teaches well.
She is one of the best teachers that I have ever had.She CARES, and helps even after you have left her class if you ask.Lovely, kind woman with a natural teaching style that gives you exactly what you put in.Those who claim not to learn much with her just weren't trying. She is so knowledgable that you can ask her about anything. She loves to teach!
She is very helpful, I would recommend her. She's funny and tries to make the class interesting. The subject was hard for me, but that's just on me for not seeking further help.
She is such an awesome teacher! She only wants to see her student succeed! I never understood stoichiometry before taking her class and I finally understand it! She let our class use note cards on all of our test however I never really used them because her test weren't to hard!
I come from French-speaking countries ... poorly understood English, and Guzel Khakimova explained мне everything, and tried hard, so I figured .. I will say to the french - "Guzel Khakimova meilleur professeur que j'ai jamais rencontré dans ma vie!"
Loving & kind teacher. Really tries to know you & understand your learning style. Some ppl didn't like her teaching style but I think she was quite straight forward. You will have to read the book &learn some things for yourself b/c there is a bit of a language barrier. Tests are of moderate difficulty. Take time to study & you will do well!
She is a great friend, but not a good teacher. Doesn't really teach in the class because she assumes that you know everything. Asking students to explain concepts for extra credits. Not a good teaching method, since students are not teachers. Also, she doesn't seem to be prepared to teach. It's your turn to choose between grades and education.
This is a great teacher. If you have the chance, take her class! She wants her student to succeed and she will help in any way that she can. Her teaching style is understandable(well, for me it was)and clear. She is just wonderful teacher. Yes, you have to work to get a good grade but, which class doesn't require that?
Khakimova is a very nice lady. Expect a fairly easy A in this class. I would have appreciated it if this class was a little more complex, but it is an introductory course. Homework is easy and online (Sapling). Tests are much easier than what she teaches (which is odd). Enjoy if you are looking for an easy credit!
If you have never taken chemistry as I haven't consider a different teacher. She is a great person in general, love her persona. But she has no structure when she teaches. Walks in and tries to cram a weeks worth in one hour. Due to the big class you don't get much help. I had to youtube a lot of concepts due to the fact it wasnt covered in class.
I would definitely recommend her!She is my favorite teacher at BC!Always go to class because something new is taught each day.Sometimes she may not be very clear about some subjects but if your go to her office she will explain it 100 times if you need it!5 tests total and are fairly easy if you study. She offers countless extra credit points too!
Currently taking Chem 121 with Dr. Khakimova. Sweetest lady ever! Fairly easy class but attendance is mandatory. Labs are quick and exams are much easier than she makes it seem like they're going to be. Overall, I recommend her if you want an A!
She's really nice and gives a lot of extra credit for participating and showing your peers examples on the board. 4 quizzes, all multiple choice. Lets you use small note cards on all including the final! She's fast and a little confusing when she teaches. Homework is easy & online, once a week. Don't buy a textbook if you're not going to use it!
She is a sweet person who has a really good heart, but teaching is not her strongest subject. Her lectures do not have any sort of structure, she has no exact due dates, and I have no idea what she is saying half the time. If you really want to understand chemistry, find a better instructor. If you're looking for an easy A, you've found your gal.
I really don't like this class. This is my first time rating a professor because I want students make a right decision for a quarter. She is not organized and when she lectures, she asks questions to students. Explanation is so confusing so I always youtube.
Khakimova is one of the nicest professors I've ever had. She's fairly flexible and cares about her students. Make sure you get on her good side by coming to class and participating. Overall, pretty chill class if you put forth the effort
Best teacher ever!!!! Very understanding and teaches very well! I truly love this teacher!!
She is a great person in general, very sweet but she is not a good teacher, her expiation is not clear and she does give extra credit but only if you present things in front of the class or answer her question so if you don't understand the lecture than it'll be hard to get extra credit. Always keep with the readings, try to study with a classmate
Great teacher. She explains ever tying very clear. After her class, you will love chemistry. This is not true that she is a bad teacher. SHE IS THE BEST CHEMISTRY TEACHER EVER!!!!!!
she is so sweet, very helpful. I want to take again.
bad. We were doing math today and i used a shortcut to solve a problem. She didn't even know there was a shortcut to the problem and told me it was wrong and gave me an attitude. I'm in uw math at high school RS and she thinks i can't do math. she won't admit to the fact that it was still correct and tried to humiliate me. terrible teacher.
She's a very nice and very sweet teacher, tries to very hard to make Chemistry fun learning experience and wants all her students to succeed. As long as you READ and STUDY the material, Attend Class and participate is class you will be more then fine.
Guzel was a good teacher and a very sweet person. She wants to see everyone to succeed in her class. She is a little disorganized with grading so make sure you get credit for you work and participation but other than that it was a good class!
Take Guzel if you want to gen an A. She gives lots of extra credit and makes sure you understand the topic before moving forward. The material studied in chem 121 is basic, so do not expect it to be really hard. She is confusing at times, but as I said it is easy to get a good grade if you show up to the class, take notes, then you'll get an A.
Dr. Guzel is the nicest lady you will ever meet, but unfortunately I found it really difficult to learn new subjects in her class. She doesn't explain things very well and will sometimes test you on concepts that were barely covered. However, she hands out extra credit like candy, so getting a good grade isn't that difficult.
Dr. Guzel is a really good professor. She will spend the time after class to clarify or answer any questions you may have. Although she might not be that clear in her lectures, she makes up for it by giving out plenty of extra credit. The class is a little fast paced so it would be in your best interest to attend class everyday. Highly recommend.
She is one of the best teachers I've had. Lectures are step by step and never boring. She outlines every thing on the board clearly, and asks for each students participation to solve problems. Grades fast. Is very willing and able to help with questions. Checks with students about needing breaks. Learned a lot, without a lot of stress.
She doesn't speak very good English which is alright but she doesn't explain things very well. If you ask a question about one tiny detail she repeats the whole entire thing. Ms. Khakimova also wouldn't post our Labsprelabs until the night before the day of the lab and one time she posted the CORRECT version of the lab at 8 AM the day OF the lab.
Ms. Khakimova is a very sweet lady but her lectures are not clear at all. She will mark you wrong if you use a shortcut and do not show all of your work EVEN if you get the correct answer. If you ask a question about a minor detail she will explain THE WHOLE THING all over again instead of just answering your question. She hardly collects homework.
Khakimova is kind-hearted and sweet, however nothing in the class was well-explained: her lectures are unorganised and she's hard to understand, she explains concepts in a roundabout way, labs were horribly confusing, and there were so many unclear due dates.
Guzel is the best science teacher I have ever had. Unlike other people on here talking about her accent, it is perfectly understandable. She is very clear on everything, just take notes and show up to class and you will pass. Tests are not hard, and her lectures are helpful. Average of 2 hw assignments a week. She's a great professor.
I would take her class again. She gives a lot of extra credit out.
What was covered in class was often more difficult than what was on the exams, but I appreciated it as it made testing much less stressful. Class participation points really added up at the end of the quarter. Attendance was not mandatory, but the instructor seemed to take it personally if you didn't show. Very nice lady, a little scatterbrained.
She's super friendly an up beat. Great teacher and very smart! The textbook is very important for the class. The only down side is she is a little hard to understand but if you ask her to help you one on one when you don't get something she will help you out. Very important that you show up to class because she lectures a lot.
She really cares about your understanding of the lesson and suggests that you turn in everything on time. Even if you don't, she allows late assignments, but it's better to turn it in on time to not fall behind. The credits will add up to your final grade. Her lectures are great and she repeats herself if you do not understand what she just taught.
Easy class if you put in the effort. She wants everyone to succeed and takes the time to help you when you aren't understanding something. She lets you use note cards on tests and there are a lot of extra credit opportunities!
Khakimova is such a nice person, however, she is not a great teacher. She cannot explain concepts, pretty much reads off the powerpoints. She has a hard time understanding what students are asking so she's not able to help all that much. If you don't care about the material and want an easy A take her, she gives out extra credit for participation
She's one of the kindest profs I've had, genuinely cares and wants to give everyone an A. I had her for 121 too and she was perfect, but with the harder concepts in 161 her lectures arent clear and she skips over a lot of concepts leaving you to your own devices. Shes an easy A for the lower levels but for 161 be ready to study on your own.
I couldn't have loved Guzel more. She cared so much about all her students and took the time to help you if you didn't understand something. She gives SO many opportunities daily for extra credit. Plus, the class is really interesting if you do the work so you're staying caught up. Lots of lectures, but all very informative.
Guzel is a very sweet and hilarious lady!! Her English is not great so occasionally she can be hard to understand but she makes it easy for everyone to understand the material and pass the class with an A. There's lots of homework and revision that we work on together in class so practice makes perfect. Work hard and you will both be "happy happy!"
Just go to class and understand what's going on. If you get stuck, ask questions. She tries her best to help you catch up. I personally didn't use textbook, but I see reasons to use it. Really lecture heavy, but she makes the lectures fun.
Dr. Guzel is the Best Professor at Bellevue College. Not only does she teach you Chemistry, but you leave her class everytime wanting to be a better person. She teaches kindness and compassion to everyone. It is a gift to yourself when you take her class. She will make you work hard for your grade but she is willing to help you reach your goals.
I LOVE Dr. Guzel! Not only was she charismatic and caring to all her students but she knows the material shes teaching. Shes willing to go over things many times until everyone understands and is very considerate when it comes to missed homework, sick days, or hard tests. She also has a ton of extra credit opportunities. Great teacher and class!
She was a very nice and caring person, but as a teacher she was awful. She was unable to explain or answer any questions students had and 90 percent of the time would tell them to ask the students who were doing well, or she would repeat the ENTIRE concept. She assigned lots of generic handouts, and made labs mundane and uninteresting.
Dr. Guzel is an amazing teacher, she keeps the class cheerful with her storytelling and does a good job in teaching material that will stick with you. I came to her class with little hope for success and my grade exceeded my expectations.
Guzel is a sweetheart and always willing to help students. I will say her lectures are a bit confusing over material that should be easy to explain. Lots of handouts but she gives extra credit like it's candy. I would take her again for lower level chem.
So nice and sweet, but confusing lectures (she is very quiet) and a lot of handouts/HW. Labs done weekly and pretty much graded on whether you did them or not. HW on MasteringChem due each week. 4 quizzes and a final are multiple choice and are easy to pass with a last-minute cram. A decent teacher, but not outstanding.
I loved Guzel, Her energy is infectious. Shes such a caring and sweet teacher and ready to work with you. I was dreading this class, to be honest i don't like chemistry and really struggle understanding it. She helped me a lot and I could have gotten a lot worse of a grade I'm glad i took her.
Took her for summer, she was very caring to all her students. As an instructor, I found her lectures a little hard to keep up with, so self study helps. I never knew my overall grade because she'd keep everything on paper, make sure to ask if you have all hw/handouts done. Regardless, tests are the only thing you can miss on, fairly easy A.
As others have noted she is sweet, funny and caring, but I'd never take her again. She doesn't use a textbook or Canvas, and her lectures are super confusing so be fully prepared to teach yourself via PowerPoint slides and the internet after class. No practice tests or study guides, but the texts are fairly basic.
Guzel cares about her students and wants them to do well. However, I had never taken a chemistry class in my life so I had ZERO background knowledge. I bought the book and theres no way i would have passed if i didn't. I basically taught myself the entire class. Tests aren't hard as they are all multiple choice.
Guzel is a great chemistry teacher but she lectures at an extremely quick pace. If you miss one day it will be extremely hard to catch up. Quizzes are every 2 weeks and homework is due weekly on your lab day. If you have no background in chemistry I would not recommend Guzel, but otherwise she is a great teacher and makes class fun.
She knows her material very well, but the accent may be harder to understand for some people, you just have to focus on the lectures more. She is very caring and will help out if you are having trouble. We didn't need a textbook, but it may have been useful to have one. She gives out lots of extra credit to people who participate in lectures.
Professor Khakimova is very kind and goofy which made class fun! A lot of the things you need to know for the test you will learn from doing problems together on the board from the homework sheets and her lecture. If you can't come to class, self study, or catch on fast, I probably would not take her, especially for higher level chem.
I enjoyed her class. She is funny. Instructions are sometimes unclear. She doesn't "grade" homework, just looks at it and gives you credit. She let's you use a a3x5 notecard for quizzes and she does give out extra credit.
I LOVED this professor. Easy A as long as you are listening to her and doing the homework. Usually chem is super tough to learn but she makes everything easy & is super lenient. The tests were super easy and she let us use notecards! Homework maybe took 1-2 hours once a week. I highly recommend this teacher!!!
ooooooooooooh myyyyyyyy goooooooddddddd this class was terrible. there are sporatic random homework assignments that she mentions briefly while speaking sdvjkdsjfsl
Professor Guzel is an amazing choice for chem161. Show up to class to pass because she gives out 5 points as group work for attendance and another 5 per worksheet. Two, she lectures in a fast pace so be ready to go over class worksheets and read the textbook after class. Finally, beware of her final. 64 questions, half the class needed more time!
If you want to learn Chemistry and want to understand it without any pressure than take her. Make sure you study because without studying and putting an effort you won't pass any class let alone Chemistry. She is very helpful and wants to make you understand and learn the content before moving on. The labs/exams are easy if you do the work.
I took this proffessor with no background knowledge in chem and omg it was the worst decision ever!!! SHE DOES NOTHING IN CLASS. I mean it, like one day she'll stay for two hours going over ONE thing and the next day she'll go over 10 topic. She also doesn't use the book at all or powerpoint or anything and has an accent which makes it 10x harder
I loved Guzel! You can tell she cares about her students and wants them to succeed. She teaches everything that will be on the test. Grades on participation and attendance. Spends time to answer questions but she does move fairly fast sometimes.
Professor Khakimova's class was a great experience. She uses class time properly in order to teach us the full extent of the material, and she additionally gives out plenty of study material for her exams. Be aware that she requires consistent participation, so this may not be the class for you if you're uncomfortable being in front of the room.
She is a nice person, but as a professor she is very unorganized. She reads off the slides and it seems as if she is seeing the information for the 1st time. She gives random hmwk with little notice. The lab portion was a mess and you have to figure it out on your own. If you just want to pass but not learn the info, you can take her class.
I will not take her class again because she 1. for her lectures attendance is mandatory and everything she says is exactly on the book word for word. 2. for the labs, she makes you do labs that was not taught in class. And she as well is confused about the labs. I would say you can get easy A but might feel that its not worth your time.
Dr. Guzel was a really good teacher, but sometimes hard to understand. If you don't have patience to sit and try to listen for a couple hours straight it will be a rough class. However she is extremely understanding about homework and will help you when you need as long as you show her you care. Very nice, and helps when you fall sick.
Dr. Guzel is very knowledgable and definitely cares about her students, but her lectures are very boring. She does a lot of "group-work" and will answer any questions you have. She is very sweet and overall I enjoyed her class.
She is a very lovely teacher. Her classes are mandatory and she appreciates attendance. I prefer to talk in class instead of sitting like a potato. Do not worry about grades because we are here to have some fun time.
Guzel was a great professer, she came to class prepared with what she was going to cover that period and was very informative when questions were asked. She was quick to grade homework and if you had questions she was there to help. Class was not very hard if you studied her slides and did the homework and the group worksheets and studied can pass.
I came into this class with no knowledge of chemistry (hence why I took it) and during her lectures, she expected us to know things about chemistry already which I didnt think was fair. Her tests are multiple choice and is fairly easy and also gives a lot of homework but honestly just do the work and youll pass. Attendance is also required.
Lectures are done through Zoom, so I was able to communicate with other students for help. She does want her students to participate during discussions, but it helps us understand what we are learning. There were quizzes every other week, and a final. Labs and discussions get pretty long, 2-3 hours on Zoom...
Take Guzel if you want a high grade. After zoom/remotely taught classes started, she has been very lenient on late work submission. However, she will talk nonstop during exams and call out students with late work frequently during class and exams too. It is very distracting. Overall, take her if you are only there for the grade.
She requires a lot of participation and will randomly call you out, especially if your camera is on. I did not learn much from her but I plan to take the succeeding general chem class which is concerning. But take her if you only plan to take chem 1 or if you just want a high grade.
Overall, Dr. Guzel was a pretty good professor. She's very kind and knowledgable. She will call on you randomly to work through worksheets/problems and as other reviews state, if you have any late/missing work, she'll call you out. The only reason you need to buy a textbook is for the online MyLab Mastering Chemistry homework, I didn't read it.
Guzel is caring and really wants everyone to get A's. If the class wants more homework to practice or EC, she is happy to give it. Treats homework as practice rather than something that is going to make your grade go up and down, and gives 3 attempts so you can see what you got wrong and fix it. Tests are tough, but she tells you what to practice.
There is sometimes extra credit if you participate in class and answer questions. Super caring and friendly. I love staying after class to talk with her.
Pr. Guzel is an awesome professor and was able to teach her Chem 161 course materials very clearly to all her students. She will help anyone in need. You need to participate in class. If you do everything correctly, you will get an easy A
Energetic teacher that cares about students , is always willing to practice extra and answer any questions. Prepares you well for the quizzes and the quizzes have no trick questions, just exactly like the material you've been learning. Lenient on late assignments and allows many attempts on homework. Sometimes is disorganized
She genuinely cares about all her students and wants to watch you succeed! She puts a huge amount of effort into her lessons. Lectures are mandatory and attendance is taken twice per class. Class is also very assignment heavy BUT she has no limit on accepting late work. As long as you keep up with the assignments, you will do well.
Guzel was very very kind and caring of her students, but totally could have taught a little better, especially once finals roll around. If you do the work and review the textbook/notes she gives you, you should be fine. However, usually those notes could take me hours to do. Don't be afraid to ask her questions; she is very sweet and tries to help.
Very caring teacher, not too great at teaching compared to others but her passion outshines it. I had to review the material a lot through outside sources. Otherwise, she's an easy grader and really does genuinely care about students. Lots of class participation if attending zoom meetings. Take her if you need credit.
Guzel is genuinely the sweetest & most caring person ever but not the greatest professor. "Easy" if u have taken chem b4; this class was difficult w/no prior knowledge. Had to study a lot outside of class and barely got an A after the final. Calls randomly on ppl & rushes thru powerpoints. Ask questions & participate or she will get sad (literally)
She is a very passionate teacher. She truly wants you to learn as much as possible, and will dumb it down as much as a chem teach can. If you really put in the effort you will receive a grade to reflect it. The material can be very challenging, but she will guide you through. You must show up for class, that's one thing that really annoys her.
Taking her class was the best decision Ive ever made! One of THE most caring professors Ive ever had. Shes - encouraging of qs - lenient on homework (lets u take quizzes if u missed them) - funny + great class environment + easy to talk to - knowledgeable dont take chem140 in general if ur not willing to work hard. chem seq. not ez
took for both chem140 and chem161. best chem professor out there. the chem. sequence is not easy but she makes it as stress free and fun as possible. shes like the amazing sweet babushka/grandmother you always wish you had. take notes, pay attention, and youll be fine. if you plan on slacking dont take the chem sequence.
LOVED Ms. Khakimova, she's so sweet and friendly. Extremely patient, takes the time to answer any question no matter how basic and is always ready to explain something again. She cares about her students so much it hurts, and she's very lenient with late work as well. Would definitely recommend.
I loved her class so much, she is so sweet and caring, easy grader, ask questions because she will help you, the majority of your grade is based on labs, worksheets, and hw so I definitely recommend to people who dont like exams to be the majority of your grade. I wish she was teaching the rest of the chemistry sequence.
Be prepared to study a decent amount outside of lecture time as the lecture slides are not easy to digest in real time in some topics. Guzel is a very caring professor and is incredibly lenient with due dates as she is very understanding of the struggles many of her students face. Coursework is very doable, however, tests are somewhat harder. TAKE!
-4 quizzes in the quarter (can't be maked up) -final exam is cumulative (from the whole quarter) -8 labs -i recommend taking notes in her class -overall she's an amazing teacher, her accent may cause some confusion, but ask for clarity, she's willing to help her students pass the class, - #1 ADVICE: ASK QUESTIONS!
I was super scared of chemistry before I took this class, but Guzel made chemistry so easy to learn. She is the most caring professor I have ever had; she does not care if you turn in assignments late as long as you do them, she answers all the questions. The only hard part about this class was the final and some assignments.
Professor Khakimova is caring and knows chemistry very well but at times her accent made it difficult for me to understand what she was trying to explain. Sometimes I asked questions and left feeling more confused. Easy class if you complete assignments on time. Wouldn't recommend if you ask a lot of questions for clarification or understanding.
She's a lovely teacher but I wouldn't take her again. Lectures are just reading off PowerPoint, makes content harder to understand. Everything else is easy (labs, quizzes, hw) and gave lots of extra credit . Only thing is that the final WILL destroy you, added things on there that were barely discussed. Advice: read the book if you want to learn...
Pros: She is a very sweet and kind. She is understanding. She is flexible. Neutral: She gives a slightly high workload. Cons: Her lectures aren't good. I really liked her nonetheless, and like I said she is very kind and sweet. This Professor is really good, and her pros make up for her poor lectures.
Dr. Guzel is very sweet, kind, and understanding. Extra Credit is given to students who show active participation in class. Lectures are review of text and move quickly. The materials are heavy, and most of the learning you will have to do on your own. Is an okay class, though could be difficult for neurodivergent learners.
Professor Guzel is very nice and respected. All of her tests are easy to understand and she helps you all the way with homework and group work in class so you're guaranteed not to fail. Even though she's nice, she sometimes isn't knowledgeable about the topic she is talking about. Would take the class from her again 100%!
Pros: Great Professor, Great sense of humor, Caring, Answers questions you have, Exams are ez, Helps you if you need more time. Con's: Lectures are hard to understand since English isn't her first language, Offers a lot of HW, Quizzes worth a lot of pts, and Constantly talks about drinking Celery juice which she believes is the cure to cancer lmao
VERY heavy workload, but she is so sweet and offers so much extra credit. She's so funny and will not let you fail. I have never taken chemistry or any prereqs for this course and I got an A. Don't think just take her class.
She was a good professor, you'll get a guaranteed A if you put in the effort and don't miss lectures/labs. Had a lot of assignments but they were all short and easy. Even allowed me to retake a quiz. My only critique is that when you ask questions she won't actually answer them she'll just talk about something else, other than that she was amazing
Dr. Guzel is extremely caring and wants all her students to succeed. She gives extra credit for participating in class, accepts all late work, and gives a lot of resources on exams. It is a bit difficult to ask her specific questions- I recommend just reading the textbook or watching Youtube. Lectures cover everything she asks on quizzes and final.
First time I have had an amazing experience with a chemistry teacher.
Class is not easy if you plan on just listening to lecture and studying. If you ask questions and go to her for help you'll be golden. Tons of opportunities to gain back missed points, easy A if you work hard. Super inspiring and sweet overall, hands down best prof I've taken at BC. She's also way cooler than she lets on.
Knowledgeable & sweetest professor I have ever. Does everything to help you succeed. Her English easy to understand, but lectures lack depth possibly because of limited vocabulary. However, when you ask her questions directly she can be helpful with clarifying topics. Use her office hours and read the textbook.
This is the exact type of professor i hope to have in all my classes. Does everything to the best of her ability, genuinely cares about her students, and wants you to pass. She gave many opportunities for retakes and was always ready to help. Provides extra credit, allows notes, provides formula sheets.
Teacher is great; very nice and caring about your education. She always gives retakes if you get lower than a B and always gives extra credit. She's such a good teacher, personality wise and teacher wise that I'm currently taking her again for chemisty 161. She understands you have other classes, so just show up and show you care. Its a free class.
Dr. Khakimova is a caring professor who goes the extra mile to help students succeed. Though the workload is heavy, her leniency on late work and extra credit opportunities make the class manageable. unstuck study is a great study tool to complement the textbook.
She's not the best lecturer but she is kind and gives out A LOT of extra credit. Attendance is not mandatory however its very easy to make up any lost points on tests with her participation extra credit. Her assignments can be unclear what you are supposed to do but most of the time they're alright
Teacher and teaching is great. gives tons of extra credit. works on the class work with class. very specific about whats on the test. this was my filler class, but still passed with an A and a brain full of chem. My advice is to find some friends in the class and work together on the labs and worksheets. overall, show that you care about the class.
Amazing teacher and very kind. You just need to show up to class to have a good grade. Everytime you particapate you get extra credit on the assigment. Her lab instructions are sometimes difficult but she will explain it to you. Tests are exactly like what we are covering in class.
Professor Khakimova is such a caring and understanding person. Participate in class, and you will be good because she provides extra points. The course was pretty easy and allowed me to focus more on my other classes. Would definitely take Professor Khakimova again!
She is so chill, and gives lots of extra credit. Basically if you participate in class and answer questions, she gives extra credit. Since my class is hybrid, we did all the quizzes online, even final exam! (which is all multiple choice) Sometimes her lecture is unclear but she provide the ppt so we can self study anyways.
Dr. Guzel is charismatic and great to learn from. Labs are fun and don't require tremendous amounts of prep or after-lab analysis. The lectures can be a little slow at times. Extra credit is available all the time - just participate in the class and you'll easily end with an A. She has a good balance of conceptual and math questions on exams.
This professor is very caring and kind. She really loves participation, and is very forgiving in her grading. Reading the textbook is a definite must, but if you do all the hw and attend all lectures. Biggest criticism is that there isnt always enough time in class to go over all the content so her lectures can be rushed.
