Prof. Eudey is awesome! The averages on all her tests were in the mid 60% range, but the curve was generous. I received an A in her class and would recommend her to anyone and everyone.
Unsure of really how hard class will be this semester but about three weeks in and I can already tell it won't be necessarily easy. Her lectures are very dense but important to attend since she explains some of the more complex concepts in further detail than her book.
Prof. Eudy definitely knows what she's talking about, but the way she goes about it is confusing. She seems to assume the class has similar knowledge on macro, which we don't. She also wrote the book, which falls to the same problems as her lecturing. She's talking to herself and not to the class. The amount of jargon she uses is staggering.
This was an alright class. Super easy to get 100% on homework; the tests were easy enough if you study, because almost everything on them comes straight from in class examples. The wording of questions is really confusing, though! Dr. Eudey is definitely knowledgeable, but assumes we know more about the subject than anyone does.
Check her FAQ section in preparation for the exams. It helps a lot. The homework is pretty easy and the exams are too.
Pretty easy class, she posts all past exams and as long as you spend some time studying those and looking over lecture notes you'll be fine. Her lectures are pretty boring though, as she talks mainly to herself and doesn't explain some of what she is talking about.
Do not take econ 102 with this professor. She uses a different textbook than other econ classes. It is a book that she wrote and is very confusing, barely explains the concepts at all, much like her lectures. Also her tests are much harder than other sections as they are the only ones not multiple choice! Grading on them is very picky.
Great professor. Class requires some work, but not too bad. Online HW is fairly easy, as long as you get 100/200 points, you get full credit for the semester for hw. Tests are picky, but she tells you basically exactly what types of questions to expect. I would recommend her!
Used her class to sell her overpriced book. Very clear in explanation of concepts. Very conceptual professor overall. Tests are purely a regurgitation of lecture notes and the book. Tests similar to previous years' tests (which she provides).
Grading on tests is very strict. She tries her best at explaining concepts, but some still come across as confusing. Textbook is way overpriced and is exactly what is said in lecture.
My only suggestion is to go to class. She gives you 90% of the questions that will be asked on the test. The multiple choice come word-for-word from the online homework! Also, the book is alright as a guide if you read it before class, but do not rely on it exclusively. If you have trouble with the material, go to the BLC, it is a great resource.
Easy A if you go to class. She tells you exactly what you need to know for the exam and you get hw answers in disc. Make sure to check the website for faq and practice exams. DON'T BUY THE TEXTBOOK!! She tells you everything you will need to know if you go to lecture and the book is just a waste of money.
Class is an easy A if you attend lecture. She stresses and repeats all major material that is later covered on the three exams. Homework was easy; online and most of the answers were given in discussion. The book was a wast of $85...I didn't use it once. Overall great teacher. She tied in current events and made it quite interesting.
She assumes you know a lot about microeconomics-- the fact of the matter is if you do not have to take this class avoid it.
She is very clear and stresses all major topics that will be covered in exams. Never read the book, all the power points are on line. Tests are easy, homework is easy.
Eh. If you have a power lecture, buckle up. It's just her ranting about a couple things. She says the same sentence over and over but in a different way. She's trying to be thorough, but sometimes it's just redundant. Her tests are surprisingly difficult, expect a lot of short answer questions! I would recommend her though, she knows her economics.
I never thought I would enjoy Econ, but somehow I did with her. I came in with no prior econ knowledge but the way she explained things were very clear. Take her. Use the BLC too. I didn't for the first midterm, got a B. I went for the second midterm and got an A. Her exams are tolerable if you do her practice exams and homework.
Gwen is definitely my favorite professor so far. Very funny, very helpful, and offers different methods of grading depending on your test scores to help you get the best grade possible.
SUCH a boring professor, says the same stuff over and over. Her tests are easy but here's the catch: they're easy for everybody. The average on the last test was a 23/25, so you need a 24 or better for an A. She nitpicks so much that you lose points for stupid things. She has a generous curve but unless you go to office hours you won't get an A.
Gwen is great, curve is generous. Straightforward, you know what is going to be on exams. Final was hardest test so get good grades on first two!!
Gwen is very smart and has a lot experience that makes macro very interesting. First 2 exams are easy but the curve sucked (24/25 was the cutoff for an A). The final was tougher, but because of it, a more reasonable curve. She makes it clear what will be on the exams and tests are fair. One of the better econ professors at UW.
I loved Dr. Eudey! She is so clear and can also be hilarious. The material is obviously very dry, but she can make it bearable! Unfortunately I only had her for half of the course...wish she would have taught the entire semester!
Eudey is very straight forward with her lectures and clear. She is a great public speaker. Examples come from the book, and so do the test questions. She is very personable and can be funny. Tests are difficult though, but the curve is generous.
Lectures are dry but very helpful so stay on top of your readings. She knows her stuff and explains it well. Great econ professor but definitely not a blow-off class. (definitely an improvement over gandhi)
Gwen's lecture's are straightforward and clear. You don't need to go to every lecture to be successful, but it helps. She needed to apply substantial curves (64% was an AB on midterm 2) to this semester's exams, which is a sign of poorly written tests. But I learned a lot from her. The material is interesting though you might not always think so.
She is amazing and makes Econ about as interesting as it can get. The class is pretty easy as long as you read the book.
Great teacher and great class. Lots of explanations and examples. Questions are all from MyEconLab and lecture questions. Lots of energy and fun to listen to in lecture.
Gwen is a great professor who has real-world experience. Her exams are very straight forward and she provides plenty of study resources. With the lecture, optional discussion section, textbook and MyEconLab, online FAQ, and online Audio/Visual guides that she provides, getting an A shouldn't be too difficult.
Eudey makes economics fun and interesting. I liked her class and she made it pretty easy. She curves the class nicely
Gwen is an awesome professor! there's a lot of info but she's very engaging and is VERY clear about the material on exams. Come to lecture because that's where the short answer questions on the exams come from-Also do MyEconLab quizzes before exam (they're not required but she literally copy and pastes the multiple choice questions from them)
Eudey is a great professor. She is knowledgeable about her topic and a GREAT communicator. She dumbs economics down and is very easy to understand. The exams were like the ones she gives for practice. She does not try to trick you. I highly recommend her.
Great professor, I would Highly recommend her. Do her practice examples
Great professor. She makes economics interesting and easy to understand. The tests are very similar to the practice ones and some questions come directly from the online homework. If you need econ, I would definitely recommend taking it with Eudey!
She is a fantastic professor, make everything real clear. Especially, try to help everyone understand the materials. Give lots of resources to help you achieve a higher score.
Gwen Eudey is the best instructor that I have had at UW-Madison. She explains things in a very clear and palatable way. I highly recommend taking any and all economics courses with her that you can.
Professor Eudey, overall, is a good professor. She was pretty clear on her expectations and explained stuff in an easy / understandable way. But, man, I hate her exams. Her exams did not reflect what we actually learned in lectures. Make sure to go to discussions, where the TAs will teach you something relevant.
Very organized an clear. What you need to know for exams is laid out in clear terms, but the exams are short (~20 questions, mostly MC) so if you get one or two wrong it really impacts your grade.
Gwen was great. She was understanding and made sure to guide us in what to know for her exams. I learned a lot and left the class a lot more interested in econ than I was before.
Crystal clear lectures, tests come from online homework and textbook reading. Put in the effort and the class will be easy and rewarding.
Eudey is really smart and a great professor. Econ's just tough for me, but she did a great job and her lectures somehow manage to be interesting. We used MyEconLab for online homework and a lot of those questions appear directly on the test. Tests are some multiple choice, some free response, and some graph drawing. Definitely recommend her!
Professor Eudey is a great professor. I took a portion of Econ101 in the fall with Professor Kelly and had to drop because she was so difficult. Eudey is straight forward and extremely helpful. Print off the lecture outlines, do the MyEconLab homework to keep up with the course, and listen in lecture. So easy!!
Gwen was a really good teacher. Her tests were super straightforward. She uses multiple choice test problems straight from the online homework and practice exams, so if you understand those (which are pretty easy), you should do fine. The short answer can be hard at times, but she does a good job of hinting at what they will be beforehand.
Eudey was a great professor. She does a really good job of saying things in simple language and using examples that the class will understand. He tests require studying but they are straight forward and not hard to do well on. I will definitely take more econ courses with Eudey in the future. If you take econ, take it with Eudey not Kelly.
Great professor. Lectures are very clear and go along with textbook well. You don't really need to read the book she explains everything well and posts her slides. Pay attention to her tips for exams, she'll often give you a question before hand. Exams are fairly easy and graded easily as well.
She was so wonderful! I loved her class because she incorporated real world examples and had a structured, easy to follow lecture. Exams were straightforward and easy to do well on if you attended class and did your homework. She's also has a total California, laid-back vibe and great style haha :)
I heard Gwen was a great professor so I was very excited for this class. However, the lectures are very dull. I have a hard time following along. It doesn't help that she doesn't seem to have a clear goal or outline for each lecture.
Gwen is my girl. Laid-back Cali vibe she brings to teaching makes it super easy to pick out important topics, learn the material well and actually be interested in econ. Online HW isn't due until the final, which is super nice for busy weeks. Tests are very fair and heavily based on HW. Final isn't cumulative. Go to lecture, do the HW, get an A
Eudey is a very straight forward professor. Her lectures can be dry (like most econ classes) but bearable. She's also clear about what you're expected to know and provides a lot of resources. She also has worked in econ fields so you do get an extra bit of knowledge from someone who has worked in the system. Clearly better than the other profs.
I took her class because of the RMP rating... but I was surprised. I would have liked to see some emotion about the material. She seemed very knowledgeable about the material but she didn't give me much reason to come to class... the slides gave it all. She also writes way more than needed on graphs.
Gwen is one of my favorite professors, her lectures are interesting and her exams are fair. Would recommend her to anyone taking Econ!
Her exams are super easy. She takes the questions literally word for word from the online homework and past exam study guides that she provides. The material itself isn't the easiest thing in the world, but she explains it well. Reading the textbook also helps quite a bit. Definitely take 101 or 102 with Eudey
You don't need to devote a ton of time to this class to get a good grade. I would set it aside for weeks to focus on other classes then the week of the exam do the homework, read the chapters, and do the practice tests. Her tests are also extremely easy-- straight from homework and old exams. However, the exams are curved so theres competition
Gwen is great. By going to lecture and discussion, you can guarantee yourself a pretty fair grade. The exams are reasonable and require preparation, but not an overwhelming amount. Overall a really great class - learned a lot and Gwen is more than competent enough to teach it. Don't need the textbook - I never read from it once and got an A.
She's a very good lecturer. But! You have to go to office hour. Missing one or two questions in the exam can take you from A to C. Exams are easy though. she basically gives half of the quesitons. Do the reading. Go to OH, and do myeconlab. And you'll get an A.
Super clear lectures, she outlines very specifically what you need to know so if you study that, and A is easy. Tests are SHORT and simple.
Gwen's a cougar. Take her class.
Gwen is a very good professor. She definitely knows what she is talking about, and she always leaves time at the end of every class to ask her questions.
While most of the course you can learn through the book, it is important to attend lecture because of the applications that are on the exam and only discussed in class. Discussion is optional. She's fantastic, clearly states her expectations, and extremely knowledgable BUT she should would be a much better macro professor!
Gwen makes lectures interesting and the material is pretty basic. The tests are short, so if you miss a few questions on each test you can easily end up with a C. No quizzes and the homework hardly counts for a grade. Don't buy the book because it is hardly ever used.
Professor Eudey is an amazing educator. She truly cares about teaching economics and makes time for students if they put in the effort. If you care and do your best, you will earn an A. Plus, she is funny and keeps lectures entertaining. Must have professor for Econ 101!
I loved Professor Eudey. Her lectures were interesting to sit through and she was always available to answer any questions. Honestly the best professor I've had so far. The only thing I didn't like was that all of the tests were out of 30 points. That means if you miss a question, you will easily fall from an A to a B and so forth.
An A is achievable if you read the textbook, carefully do hw and attend discussion for a review each week. The concepts can get nuanced. Eudey focuses more on theory than math based material. GET INTO BLC. Check out ACDC Econ videos on Youtube for good explanations of concepts covered in class. Make sure to do the practice exams and applications.
Definitely follow the lecture with full effort even though you miss lectures, just take notes and make sure you know everything done in lecture
She's very clear and good at relating the material to college age students. She makes the class very easy and gives students every opportunity to succeed. She's very available for help and is great at responding to emails, highly recommend.
3/4 of the exam questions are almost identical to the homework and the other 1/4 are from lecture or are "opinion" questions, which you can't really get wrong. Lectures are clear and informative, and she does lots of examples. Everything from lecture is posted on Learn@UW in addition to practice problems and the instructor's manual.
I love Gwen Eudey. I got a D on my first exam and was super bummed out. I talked to Gwen and she told me people get rewarded for improving their test scores over the course of the class. I got a 98% on the next midterm and the final and she gave me an "A" for the course. I love Gwen Eudey.
Dr. Eudey is fantastic! Yes, her tests weren't easy, but she was very clear about what they covered: do the work, you do well. Curves reflect what she thinks students ought to be able to achieve, but her expectations are very fair: tests were only curved more harshly when they were easier. I absolutely recommend her: take her for any class you can!
Love Eudey. Have had her for 3 classes, my favorite! Take her if you can. Review for tests by reviewing homework.
I really appreciated how she structured the tests. It was clear what to study considering many were reworded homework questions, and I still feel I retained a lot of the course material.
I had Eudey for 101 and liked her, but her teaching 302 was a complete disaster. Material was extremely difficult to understand, and she spent no time explaining why certain things were the way they were. The best way to explain the course: I left the final thinking I'd actually done well and got a C. I really don't recommend Eudey for 302
I had Gwen Eudey for 102 and 302. You will learn a lot, but she will review the material before exams and let you know what's important. Highly recommend.
Gwen is an awesome professor and made Econ so much easier and understandable than most professors. Her lectures are really informative and the concepts she presents are clear and easy to understand. It is not mandatory to go to class but she does do Poll Everywhere questions to track participation, but you can get the code from your friend.
Professor Eudey is definitely the best professor for taking intro level economics courses. She is very nice and grades fairly, but she does give enough work out for you to understand the topics without trying to hard, she is awesome.
Gwen is a pretty decent professor. She does not have a super stand out personality so lectures aren't really too interesting. She worked with the Board of Governors at the Federal Reserve. The tests are fairly straight forward and often mirror hw. Make sure to participate in clicker question equivalent and do hw to receive points for test (not EC)
Gwen gives you 4 free points towards your tests if you show up and participate in the anonymous online polls. She basically tells you what's on the test so you don't really need to study anything other than she says to do. Her power lectures never last the whole time either and you get let out early so appreciate her as a professor
Gwen has a true passion for economics and made Econ 102 a lot less stressful than I anticipated! That said, her lectures can be long and her tests are relatively short so one stupid mistake could cost you a letter grade! She is always there to help and cares that her students do well! Take 102 with her if possible, its worth the early morning!
I was dreading Econ 102, but after taking it with Gwen, I wish I had chosen to major in Econ. She tells you almost exactly what will be on the tests. The lectures are current with what is going on in the economy, so they're interesting. Attendance isn't mandatory, but you should go. I read the book for extra review and it helped! Take Gwen!!
Friendly, straight-forward. She'll specify test content during lectures. Print lectures before class! Access to old practice exams for review. Go to class & participate in PollEverywhere & do online homework to get 6 points towards your exam grade. Midterms - weighted fairly! Definitely try to get Eudey as your professor!
Love this professor. She is easy to follow and interesting. She is also super approachable and caring. Would recommend to anyone.
She runs very quickly through her explanations of the models, and it can be hard to determine what is important. The book is like $250, but you don't need it if you pay attention in class. The exams are very similar to practice exams, and the homework is very googleable
Eudey is overall a pretty good professor. Lectures are not fascinating, but she uses a lot of real-world applications and covers the 2008 financial crisis in depth. The exams are not cumulative and the same questions as the homework and practice exams. If you go to class and study the homework and practice exams well, the class is pretty easy.
She gives you a cheat sheet on exams. Use it to write down every single answer from the practice exam.
I had Eudey for 101 and I took her again for 302. She is a great, straightforward lecturer. In 302 all of the exams are based off the practice exams, nearly word-for-word so know all the material on them. She incorporated some really interesting current events into the course.
I love Gwen. Like dude I want to marry her. The class consists of two midterms and a final and they're multiple choice/short answer. She gives you extra credit opportunities and multiple grading options. Plus she's hilarious, beautiful, and crazy smart and caring. Great class.
Prof Eudey is awesome - she is very approachable and welcomes questions in class. She makes practice exams available well before the actual exam date, and the questions on the practice exam are almost identical in format (and sometimes content) to the exam itself. She makes difficult concepts seem easy by working through a lot of examples in class.
Gwen was a good professor but make sure you do the practice exams, especially the short answer as there was always overlapping questions. She allows a note card with every exam, which really helps.
I took Gwen's Econ 101 class in Spring 2011. She is a great lecturer with a great ability to connect the course material to daily life. During lecture she walks you through problems that were similar to the exam problems.
For how difficult the material was in this course, Gwen made it a pretty easy class especially when I compared her style to other econ professors in the past. Her lectures were not required but going through the slides she posts online really helped a lot. To do well in this class, DO HER PRACTICE EXAMS. These are very similar to the actual exam.
Gwen is a really nice lady. She always ties the lectures into current world situations, making a pretty dry class a bit more intriguing. Her exams are a bit tough, but if you review the practice exams, a lot of the questions are recycled. I think she does a fantastic job up until about the last 3 weeks, where the material gets jumbled.
Gwen is a great professor. She is very kind and caring and her lectures aren't too boring. She makes it very easy to succeed if you put in the effort.
Best of the Econ 102 professors. She's a very kind, knowledgeable, and pretty easy to follow during lectures. The only thing I didn't like is that grades are almost strictly exam based. The practice exams and are similar to the real exams, so make sure to do those (and the online MyEconLab problems too).
Very accessible, caring professor. When I was concerned about my grade she emailed me resources to help me out, and lets you have a cheat sheet on the exams. Her lectures are tough and have a lot of information, so make sure to print out the slides before class and just take notes on those. Overall great prof!
Prof Eudey is a good lecturer and ties the material into current world situations. The tests can be a little tricky but she allows a cheat sheats so they are completely manageable.
Class is pretty straight forward. She allows you a cheat sheet for the exam. Exams composed of multiple choice and free response. I found that if you study past exams that she posts, she reuses some of the same free response questions.
Eudey was one of the more challenging econ profs. Often relates material to current events that show up on tests, so go to lectures. Grade entirely determined by exams, but could get extra credit for clicker questions answered in class. Only 13% of my class received an A (2.86 GPA average), but can do well by just doing practice exams and textbook
The most challenging lecture ever. If you are not a econ major. Never chose this woman. No cheat sheet on exam.
Do not take her class if you are not an econ major.
Linking everything to real stuffs happening right now is really hard to understand for someone whose only knowledge in ECON is the Introduction to Microeconomics.
Gwen is awesome! She is very clear and concise on what she expects from you, and the book is super helpful. She used to work at the Federal Reserve, so she knows her stuff, and likes to focus on the Financial Crisis a lot. Cannot recommend her enough (plus she's SUPER nice!). Go over practice exams like crazy!!!!
Gwen is a wonderful lady who ultimately wants you to do well and learn. Very understanding, clear about expectations and willing to do whatever she can to help. HW correlates directly to exams. All slides are posted so class not mandatory but helpful. Never went to discussion. The textbook is very helpful. Do what she says and youll get an A
She has got to be one of the best profs on campus. Every lecture has slides posted with her own hand written notes to better explain the material. Exam review sessions are held on weekends. She copies old exam questions word for word for like 75% of questions. She genuinely cares that her students are put in a position to succeed in her class.
I loved econ during high school, so I thought I'd take another econ course while in college. Maybe it's just the prof, but I absolutely loved this class. Ms. Eudey uses real world examples, and is very thorough with not just her slides, but the written notes she does along with them. I'd recommend going through previous exams, they helped a lot.
The class itself is fairly dry, but that is more on the content and not Prof Eudey. If you take good notes in lecture and do all of the practice exams you should do just fine in the class. Tests are multiple choice and most of the questions are taken word for word from the previous exams. HW can be repeated multiple times to 100% it.
Took Prof. Eudey for Econ 102 and 302. I personally loved her and found her teaching style to be easy to follow. She was very helpful and encouraging during office hours. Exams can be challenging but she gives you lots of practice exams and the exams are fair you just have to put in the work.
One of the best professors. Very accessible and willing to support. Willing to tell you exactly what the test will be on and exactly what you should know. Would take any class she taught especially if youre looking for clear and reasonable expectations
Gwen clearly knows anything and everything that she teaches about. Her current event implications are interesting and worth going to lecture just to hear her talk. Great information provided, and the class is overall easy but yet you learn a lot.
Awesome, very inspiring. She makes the material interesting and makes it relevant. She is very clear about what will be on the tests. Very open to meeting after class.
Gwen really cares about her students' learning! Sometimes she speaks in a bit too much jargon in lectures, but she is more than happy to chat outside of class to clear up any confusion. She is very, very nice and clearly an expert in her field. I would definitely recommend reading the optional textbook chapters!!
Grading is somewhat less exam heavy than other UW Econ Professors (only about 70% of the weight is on exams). Also a better lecturer than most of them. Very knowledgeable and easy to understand.
Gwen's lecture style makes absolutely no sense to me. She randomly starts drawing graphs and can go off on current event tangents. I think she is hard to follow, and I was almost bored to tears most days in lecture. On the positive side, she seems nice, 1/3 of questions on exams are from older exams, and you can do problem sets until you get 100%.
Professor Eudey is really nice and gives a lot of good resources for preparing for exams. However, the class was really boring and that made lecture hard/confusing. Additionally, sometimes her test questions were a bit twisty/had weird wording. Overall, her class was fine. It's not the best class I've ever taken, but not the worst either.
Took this class during summer term. The lectures were well laid-out and could tell that much effort was put into them. Updated past lecture videos to make them relevant to current events. Super accessible. Would recommend any class with Gwen!
One of the sweetest professors ever. Accessible outside class and you can tell she puts effort into her classes. It is relatively very easy as compared to other econ classes. Will recommend taking her class.
Really sweet teacher, however online lecture videos go on super long tangents which sometimes makes it confusing. Sometimes feel like I'm watching paint dry while listening to her videos. Not difficult and the professor really cares about you! Other than the insanely boring lectures is a decent class. Also reuses old videos so data is outdated.
Gwen is such a good professor in that she makes material very easy to understand. I took this class as full online due to Covid, but she really did a good job in making sure we could access her. Also, she was just in general super nice and a very easy person to reach out too. If you have to take macro, I would 100% recommend her for your professor.
Gwen is awesome. She did a really good job transitioning to online class and made it easier for us to do well. She removed all the math from exams and the final so it was mostly conceptual work. I enjoyed her lecture as much as you can enjoy a lecture about marcoecon.
This class has many required lectures you have to watch and answer questions throughout. However, lecture video quizzes, discussion quizzes, and homework is an easy 100%. Only have to study for exams. Lectures can be boring, but Gwen is sweet and makes herself available. Would highly recommend for 102. There's some busy work but decent class overal
I think online lectures were boring but if the class had been in person then it would have been much better. It's super easy to get 100% in everything (homework, lecture quizzes, weekly quiz) so all you have to worry about is the exams and she drops your lowest midterm grade. Overall, a relatively easy class and Prof is super nice.
Advice for the course: (1) Use recorded discussion groups to complete quizzes (5% of grade). (2) Use quizlet to complete PS (15% of grade). (3) Do well on one midterm because the second is dropped (40% of grade). (4) Video quizzes and opinion surveys are free points (20% of grade). Grade >88 is an A.
Gwen has been teaching this course online in the summer for a few years now and it shows. Everything was so well organized on canvas and she keeps her online lectures engaging. She assigns enough homework to learn the material but not so much it's overwhelming. Overall great class, take it with Gwen!
The lectures were very informative and well made but the exams are extremely hard and nothing like the practice questions and homework questions.
Gwen is a great professor! I had her for 102 and 302 and found her very helpful for both. She is very straightforward and tells you what you do and don't need to know. She also does a great job tying the class info into real life events. Super super helpful in office hours and overall very nice!
Prof. Eudey's online lectures were decent but often quite disorganized. After a while, I found it much more useful to just read the textbook rather than take notes on her videos. With that said, her class was not very stressful - it was graded super easily and the material was relatively interesting. Do her practice exams and you'll be fine.
Loved this class and Eudey. Very smart, good teacher and knows how to explain the concepts. Easy A, made me fall in love with econ and change my major to it. She gave great lectures even though it was all online. Would love to take her in person.
As I am an international student, I am weak in conceptional studies, and macro is based on many econ theories and data studies, which made me crazy. It is one of the hardest econ classes which I've ever taken. However, professor Eudey is nice and care students. You can get at least B if you follow and understand her lectures.
The best. So understanding and caring.
A queen.
Prof Eudey was fine; she's very knowledgeable, but her lectures drag on forever, and sometimes just don't make sense. She talks in very technical terms that you won't get if you're not interested in econ. It's manageable to pass this class, but I had to study a decent amount.
Non-Cumulative final exam (20%), Best score of two midterms (40%), Homework with unlimited attempts (40%). What more could you possibly ask for? Dr. Eudey is also very kind and caring and clearly wants us to learn economics rather than be scared of it. Lectures are hard to understand, you're better off just reading the textbook with time and care.
The grading distribution of the class is fantastic and attendance in section was not required (although it was very helpful to attend). Professor Eudey is extremely understanding and easy to reach out to as well!
Easy class with generous guidelines. She is great
Let me tell yall something about my SISTA. Gwen is that GIRL! No one. NO ONE is stepping to her plate ok?? Read that again !! You really should get an A if you read the textbook and take notes. Easy class! Shes just super nice & easy to talk to :)
Overall a great class. If you are trying to decide between econ102 professors pick her! :)
Professor Eudey is a brilliant professor who cares about what she teaches and her students. I loved this class, and will be taking future classes with her as well as her tests were extremely fair and grading criteria was crystal clear
Take Econ 102 with her! She drops one of the midterms and her tests are manageable. Amazing!
Super super nice lady who was very up to date on her knowledge of economics. Exams were only kind of rough because there are all handwritten, can't look anything up, but they're open note (exams were taken at home online). I barely went to lectures because she posts lecture notes. READ THE TEXTBOOK! You will learn the most from it.
everything on textbook, her explanations are chaotic and wordy. things in exam but not textbook, more chaotic and wordy explanation of some and none of the others! no office hours! cannot help students to learn at all!!!we are all on our own!!! cannot understand why many people rate her so high???
Gwen is a great professor, I highly recommend taking for ECON 302 class during the summer, as it is a lot easier.
I have never taken a class with her in-person but online wise for summer, not recommended. Has no office hour, no help on any questions and her lectures can just be extremely hard to understand and process, if you can take it in-person and with another professor, I would consider to do so.
Actually for Econ 390. Easy class, she knows it and we know it. +: Tests are free response, so if you don't go to class/do the homework/pay attention at all, you fail. But if you do those things to any degree, it's an easy A. Sweet professor & fun to talk to. -: Very basic economics so there isn't much in the way of intellectual stimulation.
This semester, she gave two midterms (one of them was dropped) and then a "cumulative" final exam. Personally, I like and dislike this format. It is tough to get a high grade as majority of your grade depends on 2 exams basically. Gwen is a good professor and is willing to answer questions. Past exams are also offered as study material.
Great prof. I stopped attending lectures because you could learn everything from the textbook, though one or two questions on the tests would be from lecture. 3 Exams, one midterm grade dropped. Super easy weekly discussion post, easy hw assignments, and discussion attendance not required. Prof rounded my ending 92% to an A. Best econ prof fs
Very nice, and definitely loves the topics she talks about. Notes were taken in kind of a confusing format because they were handwritten and lots of notations indicating one things coming from another. High percentage of grade came from exams. If you have a good understanding of how economics works, you will probably do well.
She is one of best professor at UW. But exams were hard for me. I personally prefer micro to macro economics. If you prefer macro, then take with him
I like the way she present economic model through graphing instead of confusing mathematical equations. She also combines the current economic news (such as min wage news, statement made by government) and statically data (such as unemployment rate) with model in textbooks, making me understand materials better.
The material was not as concisely presented as I've seen from other professors, but it was well done. I enjoyed that she took handwritten notes, it set the class pace. You have to be at the lecture or watch the lecture to understand them though. Material is mostly theory, not much math. I would take her again.
4 midterms felt like a lot (she drops one) but all the questions are reused and u can find them pretty easily. Very lecture heavy, but she records them so I stopped going very early on. Her lectures are very theory heavy, but were very understandable IMO. Discussion section is graded with 3 excused absences.
W Gwen. I absolutely loved taking Econ with her. Her exams were tough though, so I recommend if you take ECON 102 with her study study study.
Professor Eudey could not have made this online class easier to navigate and complete. It was extremely organized. Her lectures are very engaging, she uses graphs as well as her personal knowledge to explain concepts. She is an outstanding professor.
Amazing and clear lecturer! Takes handwritten notes. Be prepared to attend lectures or watch online recordings. Multiple midterms but questions are given before hand and are based on logic discussed in class. Drops the lowest score. She explains theory behind economic models well. Overall great experience and relatively easy testing.
Gwen's ECON102 class is tough but rewarding. Her exams are challenging, so study hard. Luckily, the textbook and Unstuckstudy are great study tools. Overall, a great class with a passionate professor.
Professor Eudey is extremely kind and helpful. By attending lectures, taking thorough notes, and completing the practice exams, you will be well-prepared to earn an A.
Tests make up your whole grade. Her lectures are completely useless and she rambles on into unnecessary information. Her way of note taking during lecture is super scrambled and she assumes you have the knowledge of a teacher that has done this for 20 years. If Econ does not come naturally to you then good luck because her lectures are no help.
Dr. Eudey was a great professor. She lists EVERY topic on the midterm 5 days prior. One midterm or final is dropped, so you could not take the final if you do well on midterms. She loves to use graphs in class and they are SOOOO helpful on exams. The homework and in-class questions are VERY similar to midterm questions, so understand those well.
Eudey is an AMAZING Econ 102 professor. 5 exams with 1 drop, so if you do good on the first 4 you do not need to take the final. HW has unlimited attempts. She posts the exam content prior, so the ?'s on the exam are not a surprise. Lectures can be long; Reading the textbook chapters were more helpful imo. She also records lectures. She is awesome!
Her lectures confused me as she'd jump from topic to topic but reading the textbook was all I really needed to do well. Overall pretty fair class. My Econ101 professor was so difficult so this was nice.
Gwen was incredibly knowledgable and a lovely woman, but not the best at conveying concepts in a way that makes sense to people with little to know background in economics. Everything in lecture went over my head, but before each exam, she would give out a PDF with specific topics that would be on the exam, so I was able to do well and get an A.
I have her for both Econ 340 and Econ 102 and I can't recommend her enough. She is super smart and I highly recommend taking Econ 340 as an elective. It is super interesting and relevant content and the structure of that class is very nice. For 102, I would say its probably very similar to other professors teaching because that class standardized.
I had Prof Eudey for Econ 102 and she is fav econ prof. She explains everything very clearly and makes it a lot easier to prepare for content on the exam. I find that her teaching style makes me learn more by writing out a lot of the work and not just reading off slides. She made a class that I was originally stressed about a lot more manageable.
Super easy class because she gives the exam questions and answers before the exam. One exam gets dropped, you don't have to take the final. Class is pretty much a waste of time; her notes are all over the place, and she doesn't seem passionate about the class. The whole class is based on the textbook, and I just didn't really learn anything.
She was helpful if you had questions or concerns! She gave exam questions before the exam so you can do well.
