It was really hard to understand her in my opinion. You have to go to class!!
Quite possibly the worst teacher I've ever had, but better than other cell bio teachers. She goes very quickly, pretty useless in answering questions, and her exams are hard. If you want to do well in this class, outline the slides and read the book. Going to class doesn't help at all.
Goes by the material way too fast, and having an accent doesn't help out too much either. I will say that her final was a breeze, as she took ALL the questions from the past exams in the semester. Read the textbook.
I've never studied so hard for a class in my life. And I feel as if I'm a good student. I realized maybe advanced bio is just not for me. Her tests were very hard to me. There were a LOT of notes and she wasn't great at explaining concepts. Also didn't really answer questions clearly.
Dr Fondufe explains things very well and is animated, so you'll stay alert. I wasn't a huge fan of her tests because she asks a lot of the questions that require you to pick what's not right, or the ones with 5 choices, where E gives you AB/BC/etc. Study very thoroughly, though, and it should be fine.
If you've ever taken a bio or chem class before this class will be super easy. Just pay attention to what she stresses in class and read the book. Its that simple.
I LOVE HER!!!!!Trust me, you want her for a professor---not only does she teach the material very well, she cares about each individual student, and is very patient when we don't understand the material. Also, she is passionate about what she teaches so it's fun going to class. :)
As a teacher she is nice and there is little work. But you have pop quizzes which you'll know about if you check your e-amil every night. Worst part, the tests are HARD!!!!
Teacher: Very nice woman who's really passionate & enthusiastic about bio. Likes to dance while she teaches. Problem is, she goes off into tangents on info we don't need to know .. can be confusing. sometimes screeches. Advice: read textbook & study slides. Tests very specific. going to class not necessary if u study. save old tests for final.
She is an excellent professor. she teaches the material very well. She is energetic during class. she is very caring. Go to the review sessions before exams...very helpful.
shes not understandable
Fondufe was very energetic in her explanations. She explains well and gives very detailed slides but you REALLY cant guess anything on the tests. It is extremely detailed in what it asks for. However, if you read and know theh text book left and right then you'll be fine.
Honestly is a nice woman and really tries to get you interested in the subject. Makes things easy to understand but i took her in the morning so always fell asleep. Over all she is a good teacher. tests however are not always on what she says. they can be random and hard and specific. MUST STUDY TEXTBOOK! its a hard class if you don't read.
She teaches directly off the PP, and PP is posted online always. I mainly just study the PP and not the book and still do well on her tests. Her tests are hard if you don't study. Make sure you understand the concepts and not just memorize because she asks very detailed questions in the tests. Overall great teacher!Class average on tests b/w 70-75%
Really nice lady; the class is a bit mundane but tolerable.
Great teacher! STUDY THE STUDY GUIDES SHE GIVES TO YOU FOR EXAMS!!! They are the key, and almost always 90% of it is on the exam. Gives 3 exams and 3 quizzes, allows you to drop the lowest quiz and exam grade. Very lively when lecturing and uses hand motions a lot. If you study the power points and study guides, you'll pass with a high grade.
Goood Teacher....alll her notes are online, dont really need to go to class, except for the three pop quizzes andd she tells you when theyre going to be!! Take her easy B...A if you study well for the tests!
Moderate class...lectures are somewhat boring. If you study the PowerPoints and the book you should pass with a B...but this is not a class that you can slack in, there is A LOT of material so be prepared to study!
Fondufe is easily one of the best prof. i took this semester. Her powerpoints are online so u dont need to even get a book. She is extremely knowledgeable on the subject. One drawback is her tests are really hard and all of the information from the ppt is reworded so u basically have to know it inside and out to get an A
Lectures are alright, notes are online but I did not learn much during the class. The best method I found was skipping class reading each section and going over her notes after each of the respective sections. This is not a class you can get by with only slacking. Came out with an A but was one of the more challenging classes I have taken.
I could barely understand a word that came out of her mouth and I have dealt with many accents before. Horrible. Sure she is energetic but she does not make the class interesting. I would rate her VERY low!!!
This class is not an easy class. You need to read each chapter and really understand the powerpoint slides to get a C or better. You need an iclicker for the quizes too. DO NOT Procrastinate!
Sit near-ish the front, print out the power points, and you'll be fine.
She is a wonderful teacher. The first year I failed her class because I never went. If you go to class you will get an A! She has her ppt lectures online which is all you need. Even though she talks with her hands and makes is crystal clear, I did sometimes find myself falling asleep. Her final is just all her previous tests so get the answer keys!
I was doing really good in beginning, went to all of the classes, took the quizzes and took all the tests. But somehow I ended up with a bad grade and I studied and cared about this class! I think it's because I couldnt really memorize her lectures, you fall asleep because she talks too fast!!and her questions are tricky on exams even she admits it
Questions from the test are ridiculously difficult and are half are reworded directly from the book. The quizzes are the same way; trick questions on EVERY OTHER QUESTION. Powerpoints that are directly from the book software. Are you seeing a pattern? If you need a 103/104 class, take Laemmerzahl. This professor is essentially useless.
Fondufe teaches extremely well but her exams are very tricky! She puts in a lot of tricky questions on her exams and quizes. I esentially studied and payed a lot of attention and got a B even though I thought I had a B+ for sure any way To get an A in her class you really have to study and comprehend the material not a walk in the park at all.
She is the most straight forward and organized teacher I've had at gmu! Quizzes are easy, tests are reasonable. You do not need to buy the textbook at all, everything is from ppts and no more iclicker. Study the powerpoint and you can probably get an A on the exams. People complain about her accent but its pretty comprehensible. Lecture unecessary.
STUDY YOUR SLIDES. All slides are fair game to the test (there's alot of slides). The book is very useful for studying. Her tests are have some easy questions and some tricky (all multiple choice). Cell Bio is mainly processes, functions, and structure. (alot of vocab). She's not a good nor a bad professor. She should be your "default"(I got a B+)
Ok, here's the straight dope. Do not take her class if you are just filling out gen-ed requirements. I repeat. DO NOT TAKE HER if you are looking to get an EASY A. This was how I went into her 104 class and ended up working really hard for a B! Take EVPP instead. She makes Bio too difficult. You have been warned.
She is an okay teacher but if you have any trouble understanding accents do NOT take her. She has a very thick accent which is hard to understand while she speaks. I don't go to class because I can't understand her!
This class was dreadful to me. I go to class everyday and couldnt get myself to pay attention. Her powerpoint slides made it hard for u to want to pay attention. I didnt even bother. Ah! i hated this class
AVOID THIS PROFESSOR IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR AN EASY GRADE; Fondufe is a fantastic example of a 100 level class with 300-400 level difficulty. Biology may be her strong suite, but it won't be yours if you're looking for gen ed requirements. If you are in 103 or 104 take another professor for better clarity and more ease; this will be a headache!
Very nice lady, I just don't like how she lectures. I don't understand her.. yes you can ask questions but if you don't your alone. Its better to ask questions in person 1-on-1, EXTREMELY helpful if you do. In other words to get a good grade you must look for her since her lectures don't help. I failed this class thinking I would know the basics :(
DO NOT TAKE Fondufe if you're a not biology major. She expects too much from the students about information. The details are so dreadful and hard to memorize. Her tests will be really hard to understand since her accent is horrible! She's not willing to help you regardless your emergency situation and you will know about it the first day of class!
I never bought the text book and came to lecture 50% of the time and did pretty well cuz ALL her exam questions are from her slides. she's really helpful when you need help and she's pretty loud and energetic which is great for a 1st morning class
As an earlier rater said, her class would be a headache. I don't know how some people managed to pay attention in her class! she's shouldn't be a professor in a 100 level class with 300 level expectation. I read some misleading rated comments and took her, and tht was a big mistake :(
She is a really good teacher and is helpful! The nice thing about her is she puts the notes online so I never went to class except for the tests and quizzes. As long as you do the study guides for the tests and go over it you will do fine on the tests.
Just Hated this professor and her teaching!
She is a nice lady. All you have to do is study the powerpoints and you should do fine on the exams. Class is not mandatory...(she tells you when the quizes are going to be)
I had Fondufe for Bio 103 and I did really well in the class. But unlike Bio 103, Bio 213 was a different story. In that class SHE WAS HORRIBLE!!!! I expected the same teacher and same test from 103 but what I got was a disaster. She gets her test questions from a teacher manual and does not think to see if its a hard question or not! STUDY ALOT!
She's awesome. I took her for Bio 103 and 104 and I would def. recommend her!! If you bother going to lecture, she's knows what she's talking about but if you miss class all of her notes are online. Tests can be tricky but study the power points and you'll be fine. Very easy to get an A or B. DON'T BUY THE BOOK, you don't need it for her class!
Not a good teacher. Lectures are insanely dull. I was knocked out within 20 minutes of every class I actually went to. Powerpoint slides make it easy to skip class though. I went to less than half the classes. I just used the slides and the book and I got an A easy.
shes very nice. she tries to explain everything but her lectures can be boring.she has i-click quizes.does not curve that much. you have to understand the material as well memorizing it if you want a good grade.her tests are not easy.you need to read the book to understand and memorize her lecture. she has a comprehensive final
She doesn't make the class very interesting, but even someone who doesn't like Biology can pass her class. You don't need to attend class. She does quizzes the week before an exam (on Tuesday), so study some for those. Do the study guide she provides because that has everything that's on the test.
Absolutely amazing. She's very difficult, but also very helpful and will help you outside of class as well. She's awesome and I would definitely recommend her!!
Best proffessor I have had at Mason! Very knowledgable, especially in personal conversations outside of class. Record the class because she gives hints to the exams. Most persons who struggled either weren't at a proper lvl of knowledge for the class or did not come regularly.
Class can be boring if bio isn't your thing. She was very energetic/enthusiastic which helped make the info more interesting. Exams/material are hard; however she gives VERY detailed study guides -- your grade is up to you. Notes are online, don't need the book, and she does review sessions before exams. Enjoyed her class and got an A!
Very energetic teacher. Test questions written more complicated than needed. She likes questions beginning with "which one of these is NOT..." Arrgh!
Shes the best, easiest biology professor there is. Why? Cause she knows how to teach. This is the first time i had bio since 9th grade. I got an A. Her exams are easy! I dont know why she has a low rating. Just attend class and read the book occasionally. All my friends wished they took Dr. Fondufe. I wish she taught upper level bio courses.
She's awfully boring to the point you never want to stay in class. Her exams are worded horribly and she loves "which of the following is not, or which of the following is true" questions and her notes are disorganized. Overly complicates a 200 level class. Wouldn't recommend or take her again.
VERY ENERGETIC PROFESSOR. CLASS ATTENDANCE IS NOT MANDATORY BUT STUDY THE ONLINE SLIDES AND YOU SHOULD BE FINE, BUT THERE AREA ABOUT 45 SLIDES PER CHAPTER...SO NO SLACKING...TESTS ARE NOT A WALK IN THE PARK EITHER
You do not need the book in this class. The whole class is based off notes. Study notes and you will be fine. Attendance is not required. VERY boring speaker though... I can't even remember how many people fell asleep during her lectures.
Excellent class. Never used the book. Lectures are entirely power point based, which if you read them at home/or print them out for yourself makes learning the material very easy. Tests are EASY - worded straight from the notes; 3 scantron tests & 3 quizzes (lowest grade dropped for each) and a final (cumulative). Take her, you won't regret it!
Had her for lab. She gives us so much work. UNNECESSARY WORK. AVOID FOR LAB AT ALL COSTS.
I studied enormously for her class but still got a D :( it is a total gpa killer you need to read meticulously and everything!!! and write down everything that she says as she JUMPS AROUND WITH HER HANDS FLYING!!!!!!
She was not a very good professor. She was very energetic, but not clear on her pronunciation. She was hard to follow and her tests were very difficult.
A great professor. All u need to do: study her lecture notes and power points ans u will get a good grade. she is the best and she makes bio very interesting and very easy to learn
Very difficult professor. I took IB biology in high school before taking cell bio. On the first day she said there is a 33% failure rate. I got a D and had to repeat the class and that destroyed my college school for the next 4 years.
She's the chillest teacher ive had so far. mad upbeat. dont bother with the book bc u wont need it. powerpoints will do just fine. study for the tests tho. and do the study guides.
Read the book. Study the powerpoint slides--they paraphrase what the book says. Tests are based directly on the book and powerpoints. Not a hard class if you put in the necessary effort. Recording her lectures also really helped me--something you might want to consider. She's very knowledgeable and gives very great lectures.I highly recommend her.
Sweetest teacher ever. She was so helpful during office hours. No need for the textbook bc her powerpoints were word for word from the textbook. Hard class but if you put the effort in, you will do fine. You can tell that she loves her job which motivated me to do well. Take her!
Classes aren't mandatory, but you need to go to understand material. She's a really nice persona and very helpful. 7 clicker quizzes, 2 dropped. 3 exams and final. final consisted of 2 parts. 1 was new material-50 q. and 2nd part was from the old exams. Actually study for the exams. She puts tricky questions, but overall its an okay class.
A lot of people say her tests are difficult but I couldn?t disagree more. A week in advance she posts a study guide for the upcoming test and while she doesn?t have the same questions the same concepts are covered. She doesn?t try and trick you on tests either all the questions are straight forward.
Dr. Fondufe was very approachable and a great teacher. Beware, her tests are very difficult. You will need to know the powerpoints inside and out, and be able to explain the concepts taught very well.
Class is more on the difficult side you really have to actually go to class because there are unannounced quizzes and you can get behind really easily. She does make the class more interesting but really getting into the lectures, but her accent sometimes was difficult to understand.
She is extremely helpful. Love her energy and her study guides a must do in order to do good on the test. Don't buy the book.
Dr. Fondufe is full of life and fun. Her study guides make exams easy. Pretty straightforward class overall.
Oh cell bio. The class was fairly difficult and there are NO STUDY GUIDES for 213 so beware. You definitely should come to class; she is an interesting prof with an enthusiastic teaching style. The tests are pretty difficult so get used to studying hard for them. Take her if you really love cell bio a lot. Otherwise...find someone else.
Nice teacher but a big class almost 180 students and even if you are in front sometimes she doesn't get to your question at all....
Very nice teacher, somewhat helpful, but the class itself was easy if you sat in class and listen, and skimmed through the textbook. Sometimes though the professor was all over the place with the lecture so you had to pay really good attention to follow.
She's very animated and has an entertaining accent. Class was boring (Hard not to be- large class and the fact that it's biology. I'm not a fan of science). Class wasn't too hard though. If you study well, you should get an A. Don't buy the textbook- she provides slides and study guides. You do need an access code and an iclicker, tho.
Explains everything with clarity and enthusiasm. A professor that actually doesn't put you to sleep! Best professor ever.
Dr. Fondue is definitely excited and enthusiastic about her teaching. Be sure to check the MasteringBiology website for homework as it is not on the syllabus nor announced on blackboard. All PowerPoints are posted on BB as well as study guides for exams. She does use iClickers so remember to bring yours!
I would avoid Dr. Fondufe if possible. She just reads straight off the powerpoint slides. The class is not intellectually stimulating. Exams are ridiculously hard, even if you study. Ppt slides are straight out of the book, so the fact that I got this expensive book was stupid. Doesn't tell you when some assignments are due (not on BB OR syllabus).
Dr. Fondufe rocks. She explains all the concepts very thoroughly with a great deal of clarity and enthusiasm. Her exams are also very easy and straightforward, ESPECIALLY relative to the other cell bio professors. Just paying attention and going over her slides is enough to get you an A with relative ease.
She didn't help at all. She reads straight off from the powerpoint. Most of the time, I had to learn everything all by myself. Her exams are really hard. I wish I didn't pick her as my professor.
Dr.Fondufe is not a hard professor. You actually do have to put. In a great deal of effort in this. Class as with any other class but tests are right off the PowerPoints. Don't read the book. One exam can get dropped which really can save you. Good teacher. Would take her.
GOOD:Good explainer. Makes class interesting. Simplifies concepts. BAD: Tricky test (easy concepts). Can lecture fast. Focuses lecture on pictures (can't take notes), not worded slides.
She's easy enough if you go to class and do the study guides (and by that I mean actually do them, not flip through them at the last minute). You don't need the book, she puts her slides on blackboard, and not every iClicker quiz counts. The most annoying thing is the online assignments, which she only announces in class.
Don't take her for BIOL213 cuz shes a completely different prof who doesn't know how to teach. She talks for one hour and fifteen minutes and still asks us to stay for 10 minutes more in the class. very bad professor
Class had clicked questions. 4 exams and a final. Study straight from the powerpoint and nothing more, I got an A in the class. All the information you really need to know come from the powerpoints, if you don't put in work you won't get the grade you want. simple as that.
No need to buy the book, her slides are on point for what you need for your exam. Her study guides are very helpful. She does give iclicker quizzes for attendance. Great teacher, one of my favorites.
Really nice, tries hard. Tough subject to memorize everything but her test are tricky!!! She will even admit it, very difficult to get an A I'd say impossible! Go into it reading the book and knowing you really need to READ AND REREAD the questions
Reads directly off powerpoints. If you want an A read the chapter and skim the powerpoint before she goes over it. Her lecture is just reading directly off the powerpoint. Exams are very tricky; average is ~65% - no curves but sometimes gives a 2% or 4% boost on each exam. Impossible to get an A! If you want an A; dont take her!!
I thought she was a great teacher. Do not buy the book, it doesn't really explain the more complicated things at the end of the semester. She only counts 10 iClicker quizzes and you don't even need to be right. The tests were pretty straight forward if you did the study guide.
Dr. Fondufe is an excellent professor. She is extremely well versed in Biology and she teaches well. She is vibrant and friendly and is very open to asking questions and giving answers. No pressures. Her exams are quite difficult. She is good at posting on BlackBoard and if you read, attend class and pay attention, you'll do well. I enjoyed her.
terrible professor, doesnt know what she is doing. she asks for 15 minutes after every lecture to finish the topic. shes so unorganized dont take her
She is great, I don't know how can you not like her. I got a B+ without even putting too much effort. Yes, she reads from power points, so what?? At least you know where to go to find answers. Take her, don't but the book, though. I didn't.
This course was extremely easy with her. All you have to do is show up to class and PAY ATTENTION to the slides. They are what she bases her exams off of. For the final, study your previous 3 exams and you should be fine. Very Easy to get a very good grade in this course B+ to an A.
This class is going to be a little difficult. You will definitely need to put some effort in if you want to get a good, solid A. Study the power points well! The book was never really useful or helpful to me. If you study a lot and really know the material backwards and forwards than a A should be NO PROBLEM.
She is a very nice woman, but the class can get very boring. She talks A LOT especially if you have her for the lab portion of the class. The final exam was very long and contained a lot of information. If you study a lot, you will probably do well.
Great teacher. Slides in class come straight from the book. Has a few easy pop quizzes so come to class. Class can get a little dull, but she was very passionate and always full of energy. Read the book and got a 97 on almost every exam. She adds ~4 points to every exam as a curve. Fantastic teacher. Would absolutely recommend.
If you want to learn biology 103, Dr. Fondufe is not for you. In my opinion she didn’t teach material, she repeated it. For me her problem is not that she moves “too quickly,” it is that she reviewed concepts I had no prior knowledge of. She seemed to be shouting the slides, leaving most of the material to be self-learned or inferred.
She is the best bio teacher, yes lectures are boring and it is hard to stay wake. However, as long as you understand the power points and memorize everything, you will be fine. However, it is not an easy A class.
She is a great teacher. Her power points are very helpful. She is excited to talk about biology and explains things well. Not an easy A class but do the study guides she provides you and you will be fine. She gives you everything to succeed so if you fail it is on you. She is also good one on one. Seek her help if you don't get something.
Extremely clear and it's easy to tell she has a passion for biology. Adorable and funny, perfect balance of fun and work. Pay attention consistently, take notes, study and you'll get an A like I did
She was is and will be the BEST professor so far!! I LOVE HER SO MUCH. Honestly she made bio so easy and explained stuff so well! If you are confused on anything just go to her office and you'l LOVE HER!!!
She's very enthusiastic and loves biology. Her tests are so confusing and way harder than other professors' for this course. Prepare to go to office hours, get a tutor, and read the power points until you have them memorized. 7 iClicker quizzes throughout semester, 2 are dropped.
She is an amazing prof. She keeps you awak during class. She doesnt meed a mic so you will be able to hear her even if you are in the back. She gives you dense study guides, but they are really helpful. This class needs some work to get an A. Dont buy the book. She uses everything thats on the slides.
Let's start off by saying that I would have never went to class if it wasn't for the dreaded iClickers. She uses them all the time, and it is worth a good percentage of your grade. Her tests go something like this... Question #3 A) A Possible Answer B) A Possible Answer C) I think that was an answer D) Both A & B E) All Its impossible.
BEST PROFESSOR AT GMU!!! She is my inspiration. I started off at GMU with her class and she made it the best first year of school. She is very forgiving for the labs and she is a great lecturer . Her lectures were clear and easy to understand. Her tests are pretty easy but you have to study or at least read over the powerpoints. TAKE HER CLASS!!!
Fondufe is a wonderful prof. Lectures are long but thorough and easy to understand. Great at helping and explaining. Material is difficult though, you will have to study for exams. Don't buy the textbook, all powerpoints are posted online and are the source of test material. READ THEM. Occasional iclicker quiz the only reason to attend. Loved her!!
Every lecture is on a power point which are uploaded to blackboard before the class starts each day, very easy to follow along, but also very easy to become side tracked as she simply reads from the slides most times.
She loves biology and she is helpful. BUT HER EXAM ARE HARD and very tricky :) You dont need a book everything comes from the slides and her exam questions are developed to confuse you . Not an Easy A . I wished that I took it with Madden :(
Overall, Professor Fondufe was a great professor. She is easy to understand and helpful. There are three tests, a regular exam, midterm, and a final. She posts study guides and powerpoints on blackboard, if you do those you will be fine! She is a great professor!
Tests were exactly like the study guides- do the study guides and listen to lecture youll be fine . It helps to Print powerpoint notes and take notes during the lecture. reading the book was also helpful but It wasn't mandatory. she helps you understand concepts and goes beyond for her students . easy A if you put the effort and go to class
INCREDIBLE PROFESSOR! Fondufe genuinely cares for her students and is hands down the most enthusiastic lecturer I have EVER had. Is an easy A? No. You will have to do more than memorize the power points the night before in order to get an A, but it's definitely not impossible!
Fondufe is an amazing professor, her tests are directly from the powerpoints so no need to buy the book. Come to class, she likes to give i clicker quiz from time to time. Taking notes in class makes powerpoint more understandable and sometime there few questions on test from the lecture which aren't include on the powerpoint.
Prof Fondufe is one of the best professors as Mason in my opinion. She is very passionate about biology and you can tell by her lectures. Your grade will reflect the amount of studying you put in. Everything you need to know are on her powerpoints so buying the book would be a waste. Genuinely love her.
Fondufe is one of the best professors as Mason in my opinion. She is very passionate about biology. Exams can be hard, but you get what you put in. I recommend looking over the study guide and the powerpoints. She gives iclikers, so show up to class. Made biology interesting. She's always full of energy. Hands down, the best biology professor.
Fondufe is a very lively teacher who is passionate about Biology. Sometimes I would bring my boyfriend to the lectures and he sort of became annoyed by her voice, but I thought she was a great speaker. She was clear with how the course would be and made Biology an interesting subject. I would recommend her class.
Fondufe is a passionate speaker and easy to understand. Her voice will annoy the crap out of you though! Exams are hard, mainly because there's a ton of info. Two exams before the final and each consist 5 to 6 chapters worth of info. Final was cumulative which sucked! Do the online hw! Slides are on bb so you can miss lecture on Fridays!
I got an A by studying from her slides only. Attendance is not mandatory, but I'd recommend sitting in front so you can follow her lecture. Online assignments that can be done in short time ;). 3 Exams that are not as tricky as BIOL213 course, but there's somewhat a lot of memorization. Final test has a 100 multiple choice (50 from 3 exams)
Awesome teacher, cared about our interests & really let us decide what topics we wanted to cover. Class discussions were great! 1 page article summaries due every Sat by 11:59 which got really old, but they were so easy. Just read the article and cover everything in your summary (without your own opinion) and don't worry if you write too much!
Lectures were a bit funny. You need to buy the code to do the weekly masteringbiology assignments. She gives free response study guides for each chapter. There are a total of three multiple choice exams. I had this professor for both lectures and lab. If you do your work correctly and turn it in on time then you'll get the points.
Her voice makes you want to pay attention to the material. It's obvious she loves biology and really tries to make you like it. Her test are really hard though. She does give out study guides but they're so long. You need to study like 2 weeks before the exam. Always do the homework online, you can fail every test and still pass if you do the hw!
Fondufe was a very charismatic, passionate professor who clearly cares about all of her students. iClicker quizzes are pop quizzes so make sure to bring your clicker with you every class, tests are based off the powerpoints, lectures can get dry but this is due to the material itself (not the prof.). Overall, a clear-cut course and fun professor.
Thick accent and very difficult tests for a 100-level class. You'd better do well in the lab and on the homework if you want to pass this one.
This class was the death of me for a gen Ed. Fondufe loves biology and is super entergetic for reading PowerPoint slides. Honestly I barely went to class, read the notes or studied and somehow still passed. The test me are very difficult and confusing for an intro course.
Very good professor. If you want to pass and get a good grade take her, excellent teacher makes you understand the material. Have to work for it but she makes it better and improves chances of getting good grades.
She was a wonderful lab instructor, energetic even at 7:30 in the morning! Her lectures were never boring and I honestly learned just as much if not more from her lab class than my bio lecture!
Prof. Fondufe was awesome! Be prepared to put in a lot of work though. I did poorly at first because I tried to take notes in class, but then I started studying the powerpoints outside of class and I managed a B. She gives a few iClicker quizzes, so be in class for those! She's very energetic and helpful.
Awesome professor. You need to study but lectures are clear and to the point. She is the best at Mason. Take her if you want a good grade, but pay attention and do hw. Don't skip class. Most profs. at Mason can't teach, but she can. If you want to pass take her, very energetic, makes you learn. PowerPoint are very helpful too. TAKE HER.
The professor is very clear in her language and is energetic. It helped to see her speak in a positive tone and she gave emphasis on things that was important to remember, which was helpful for studying for the test.
Good professor, energetic and enjoys the content she is teaching. Makes things very clear in her powerpoints. Sometimes I lose interest in class, but only because it is a big lecture hall. Tests are moderately hard but not if you study
She is very kind and a good lecturer, though the class feels long and isn't mandatory. The tests are a bit difficult but if you study you should pass, I never study and am scraping by with a B. She has office hours and is very friendly, extra credit questions are on the tests and she is very generous with curves.
Very enthusiastic with the subject. She knows her stuff. Power points outlines her lecture well.
You have to participate in this class. The material's clear cut, but you won't get as much of an understanding reading as listening to Fondufe talk. Her lectures, though, make it not a chore at all.
Tests aren't bad - if you study the powerpoint lectures, you will be fine. She goes into a lot of (unnecessary) detail during her lectures though and fell behind the course syllabus pretty significantly. Fondufe is genuinely nice and cares about her students doing well.
Pretty easy and fair class. Her study guides are extremely long though and there are a lot of material on the tests but they are not bad if you study. Do not need to get the textbook.
She is the most enthusiastic bio lecturer I have every had! She makes me feel bad for occasionally skipping class lol. If you study the very long PowerPoint and study guides you should be able to get an A or B.
Ok here it is... Her ppts are EXTREMELY long (80-100+ slides) and detailed so DON'T wait till the last minute to study for exams. Go to class regularly and ask questions. She's more than happy to help. There's weekly hw but they're all super easy, just use quizlet. Exams are mc and she gives extra credit. Overall she's a decent prof. Take her.
Fondufe gives good lectures that are easy to follow, and makes the concepts easier to understand. Her test questions often resemble the study guide, however, her study guides are extremely long so lots of preparation is required to get a good test grade. Very fair teacher and class.
Fondufe is a passionate teacher that loves what she is doing and shows she really cares for biology by the way she expresses the content during her lectures. I also had her for lab and she was always very helpful and would happily assists you. Honestly, towards the end I did not show up to class much but just read the lecture slides and you're okay
Her slides were the exact same thing as the book, so there wasn't a lot of detail readily available. Despite showing up to lecture almost every class, I still was lost. I barely passed.
Fondufe is the absolute best! Biology has never been my strongest subject, but she is so passionate about science and gives clear and effective analogies to help reinforce each subject. She's approachable and clearly very knowledgable about what she teaches. I would definitely recommend her, whether you're taking bio for a gen ed or a major req.
Since this is rate my professor, Fondufe is a great. The class is not hard, i promise u that, but that doesn't mean slack; if u come to class (which u must cuz iclickers) &pay attention &take notes, u'll be golden. DONT FREAK OUT! If u don't, u can just go through the slides on ur own time. that is how i studied. she posts so much on blkb to help!
Her tests are moderately hard, but definitely impossible if you study hard enough! She provides study guides, sample questions, and old iClicker questions on blackboard to use as study material for each exam. Definitely cares about her students and wants you to succeed. A very animated lecturer, and genuinely passionate about biology. Take her!
The lectures were very clear to understand but when it came to the exams she purposely rewords them to make them difficult(she even said so herself) at one point my class average for an exam was 50% I would suggest studying a head of time, she does not do attendance . SHE DOES NOT CURVE.
She's really nice and enthusiastic. Her lectures do tend to lag on, though. She provides study guides and powerpoints. However, there is A LOT of content to study for each test. You need to put in the time to study everything. However, as long as you study for the tests, you should be fine.
This class covers a lot of material but is enjoyable. To study it's really important you split the content into several days rather than crash the night before. I pretty much memorized the lecture slides and got A's on all her exams. I clickers were easy points and usually occur at the end of each chapter. Put in the work and the grade will follow.
She's a great professor who genuinely cares about her students and has a true passion for the material she teaches. Dr. Fondufe can clearly articulate concepts by relating the subject matter to everyday life in an effort make the material easier to understand. She's a very animated lecturer and was approachable too. Totally recommend her!
Passionate teacher, truly loves what she does. Dr. Fondufe puts a fun twist on bio lecture. Be sure to review powerpoints before exams (lowest test is dropped, if final exceeds lowest score) Great base knowledge for upper level biology and chemistry courses.
The only way to do well in this class is to memorize EVERY single peice of information on the PowerPoints which are around 80-90 slides, and if you don't know everything on all three of them you will not get an A. I will not take her again because she refused to consider an 89.72 an A-... she will not be there for you at the end of the semester
Professor Fondufe is a great Professor. She is very passionate when she teaches and she is a very nice woman to talk too. Her exams are based on what she teaches in her class. Anyone who is looking for a very good Professor who is fair and very helpful professor, Professor Fondufe is a perfect Professor. I highly recommend her. She is the best!
So not being a biology major or someone who knows very little about biology should not take this class. She claimed that she wasn't going to go into too much detail since 99% of the students weren't biology majors, but that was not true. Her tests were extremely hard and your grade is based off of 3 tests and online homework. Not a fan.
Tests in this class are killer, so make sure you take your studying seriously and be prepared for literally anything on the powerpoints to show up as a question. Overall, Prof. Fondufe is caring and seems to really care about us learning the material. But: DON'T SKIP CLASS. The powerpoints can be hard to understand without her providing context.
She is a very kind professor. Her lecture is extremely clear and she is more than happy to help you if you ask for it. Highly recommended!!
Literally, if you study her power-points, you will get an A. i skipped almost all of her classes, and aced her tests. just do her study guides and her power points has so much information, you are bound to get an A.
Just stick to the study guides and you'll ace every test she gives you. There's a bit of homework too, but other than that I'd definitely recommend her if you're just trying to pass the gen ed
Super easy class. Just read her PowerPoint slides and do the study guides. The class is all lectured so it does get boring but the notes are online so you don't even have to go to class. Would definitely recommend.
Dr. Fondufe never showed up to class without a vibrant outfit and lots of energy. She is very interested in the course she teaches and wants you to understand. Her entire lecture is from a ppt though so attendance is not mandatory. DO the study guides and you'll ace her tests. I would highly recommend.
Prof. Fondufe is alright. I only went to class 3x til I realized lectures were unnecessary if you understand the reading/material. All slides go up online, she gives very thorough study guides, there are 2 tests and a cumm. final. Online weekly hw takes a while, though. Easy to do well w/out going to class, but must do well in lab to pass.
This isn't an easy class. You need to work really hard in order to do extremely well because your grades are heavily on the exams. Make sure you study her powerpoint slides throughly daily so that you don't stress yourself a day or two before each exam.
Enthusiastic. She uses her entire body and every ounce of energy to explain the littlest things. She really cares about her students. She drops the lowest test grade, loves her job, assigns online homework, and gives out study guides for her exams. Attendance is not mandatory.
Dr. Fondufe is an amazing professor who enjoys her work and the subject of biology. She always shows up with a positive and fun attitude and made sure we understood even the most complex concepts by providing several examples. She is very accessible outside of class. Exams are straightforward. She's is awesome.
Dr. Fondufe is very knowledgable, energetic, and caring. She really wants her students to succeed and she is accessible outside of class. I really appreciated how prompt she was in responding to my emails. Attendance isn't mandatory but trust me, don't skip class or you'll get behind and be lost forever! I would highly recommend Dr. Fondufe!
Dr. Fondufe is a very animate lecturer, and seems passionate about biology. Going to class and paying attention is crucial if you don't want to study so hard. She doesn't take attendance so I chose to not go to class ever. I had to self teach myself, so thats why I rate this class at a 4 difficulty, but that is the only reason why.
She's a very nice professor. But the content itself killed me. The only grades for the class are 4 Tests, and the occasional quiz. But quizzes are only worth 5% while the tests are worth 70%. If you know your BIO, go for it. If you dont, she's not the professor to take.
Easy class and wants students to do well.
Her teaching style was useless and exams were extremely challenging. If you can sit in a lecture class and be lectured all day then go for it but the tests are out pointless and I did not learn anything in that class
She's a nice teacher and knows a lot about the subject, but her tests are way too hard and that's basically your grade. Pop quizzes barely help, so you have to do well on the tests. Lectures were long, boring, and very confusing. Don't recommend.
This class was super easy. If this course is required, then you must take her. Otherwise you will regret. Dr. Fondufe's teaching style was so exceptionally clear and my respect for her was so high that it couldn't get any higher.
She's very nice and her lectures are on point. Responds to emails only if they seem important, other than that she doesn't respond sometimes. Her exams are not easy. You have to study hard for a good grade. Bio 103 is not just high school bio. Her powerpoints are very long.
Biology is a pretty hard subject for me, and Fondufe did a decent job at making it interesting. I wouldn't call her amazing, but she's a solid professor and you'll definitely pass her class if you put in the work.
easy homeworks and detailed study guides for every test
You get what you put into it. Take time to make your own notes using the ppts rather than reading straight off the ppts. Don't read the whole textbook, but use it to assist you with concepts you don't understand. If you don't understand something ASK questions, wrestle with the concept. Don't give up! Know the concepts on ppt and you'll do fine!
If you want to get an easy A don't take her! She's very passionate about the subject but her test are crazy hard! Plus her studyguides are over 300 questions. ( which don't show up on the test). You have two test & one cumalitive final plus 10 homework assignments worth 20 points each. If you want to stress yourself out take her class.
I thought I was going to get an A because I had an A in lab, but for some reason her final was so difficult to the point that I did not know the last 50 questions of the exam. Her final is cumulative and it is really hard. All of her tests are hard. Her lectures are done well, but it's hard to get an A.
She's great. Like, I had to retake this class because I didn't do well with my first teacher, but when I got Professor Fondufe, it was amazing. She's so nice, she responds to emails, she loves bio like LOVES biology, she's caring, she gives out study guides. She's just amazing. However, it's not an easy course. Study. Just study and you'll be fine.
Very easy class. She will make sure you pass. Just study a little and you will probably get a decent grade. 10 out of 10.
Not a good professor. Her accents are so thick that you could never understand her. There is no homework grade and your grade will mostly be based on your exams.
She's really nice and wants to help, but the class is difficult. Tests basically affects your whole grade. Getting an A requires a lot of work. She has really heavy accent and I fell asleep every time I went to her class.
You have to memorize most powerpoint. Her test is heavy
She posts all her powerpoints online and just reads off of them. She occasionally will give a one question extra credit to turn in during class with no warning. Her study guides are over 200 questions!!! No answers are given and many quizlet answers (even if they say Fondufe) are wrong. Tests are 50 questions and over multiple chapters at a time
Only grades for her lecture comes from weekly homework and the midterm exams, with the final. As a non-bio major, her lectures were interesting but the content was boring. The tests were VERY difficult and her lectures are all based on her powerpoints online. If you aren't great with science this class is very difficult. You get what you put in.
Dr. Fondufe teaches extremely fast on Powerpoionts during lecture. Luckily, she posted them all on Blackboard and she didn't make attendance mandatory. Class is passible if you don't go to lectures and study via Powerpoints only
Shes honestly a great professor! Her lectures are great if you have an interest in bio or not. However, your entire grade is based on 3 tests pretty much. There are online assignments due each week but I don't feel like the count as much. She gives out extra credit when classes are small. Overall great professor and totally would recommend.
Super funny and engaging. She understands most of us have seen this material already so she highlights the important parts during lectures-and those are the parts she focuses on exams. There are random iclicker quizzes that count for points but you are allowed to use your notes. Study the powerpoints, pay attention during lectures, you'll do great
I thought this was going to be an easy course that introduced me to my major but it ended up being the dumbest class I have ever taken. There are 3 tests total and her "study" guides are 9+ pages long that don't help. And the cherry on top is her lectures put you to sleep because all she does is read off of her PowerPoint. Do not take this class.
I took Fondufe for BIOL 103 and BIOL 213 and did well in both. She makes it very clear what it is exactly that you will be tested on. Study guides are long, and can take a while to complete, but if you do them you will do well on the exam. Offers bonus questions on exams and post all of her lectures on BB. Great professor!
Awful!
Textbook is not required but I used it because her the structure of her powerpoints confused me sometimes. Lots of text on every slide. Most people don't use the textbook, so if you do get it I recommend the etext because it's cheaper. If you don't understand something, she is very approachable and happy to help.
Dr. Fondufe is wonderful! She explains so well and her lectures are interesting. Do her study guides thoroughly and you'll get near-perfect scores on the exams. I learned a lot in her class and if I could take her again for another course, I definitely would. 4 lecture exams + a comprehensive final. 1 dropped. No homework, but iclickers in class.
Fondufe is really energetic during lectures. There are no reading or homework so you don't need the textbook. There are just occasional iclicker quizzes that are usually on material she just went over. There are 4 exams, plus the final. Lowest grade of the first 4 exams is dropped, and the final made up of questions from the first 4 exams.
Fondufe is very passionate about biology. There is no homework but there are i clickers and she gives you the answer to some if the whole class doesn't understand that question. Do her study guides but fill it out with the powerpoint she gives you on bb. Drops lowest test grade with final. Midterm evaluation was a D finished with a B-.
Very intelligent when it comes to Biology but her class lectures are her her talking for 2 hours with PowerPoints. It is hard to follow along and there is zero class participation. Avoid this professor but if you must take her, prepare to teach yourself and bring coffee to stay awake during lecture.
Nice professor! Lectures are tough if you don't enjoy being talked at. I suggest reading over notes/ powerpoints before next class then studying for exams won't be too difficult. Study for exams! Online assessments help trying to recall information from chapters- yes most are online but at least read the questions and answers, you won't regret it.
Basically just reads off the powerpoint slides. Don't take her if you like being talked at for 2 hours. The exam questions are right off the powerpoint. Make sure you know the "flow" of everything and how everything fits together. Going to class is useful, only if you pay attention. Don't go if you zone out or are not willing to put in the effort
Prof Fondufe is an amazing teacher and person. If you have any questions at all, she is more than happy to answer them outside of class. Bio 213 is very lecture heavy, so if you cant memorize you obviously won't do so hot, but if you can its an easy A.
No need to buy a textbook, exams are based off her PowerPoints and all assessments are on the syllabus. Lectures are fun, she has such a personality!
Professor Fondufe is an amazing instructor. She knows her stuff inside and out and genuinely enjoys teaching biology. You have to know her powerpoints for the exams, but if you come to class and go over them once or twice, you can easily Ace her class.
She was an amazing teacher. You have to sit through 2 of her talking about interesting topics! I loved the classes.
She is such a lovable woman and so easy to talk to if you have a question after class or during her office hours. Exams are so easy if you just study the lecture slides, I would recommend saving money and not getting the textbook for the class because you won't need it at all if you just study the lecture slides a lot.
She's a great person and is obviously very passionate about biology. The class is very lecture heavy so if you don't enjoy being talked at for two hours straight lecture can be a struggle to get the motivation to go to. Should do fine on tests if you're able to memorize the powerpoints also, take advantage of the LA review sessions!
This class was a 100 level class. I was shocked by how much work and effort I had to put into this class. I spent a lot of time studying for this class. There are four exams and all are pretty tough. If you are not a biology major I would recommend not to take her. Overall, I struggled in this class.
Dr. Fondufe is an amazing professor. Bio is hard. You get what you put it. She will provide you with amazing notes. Dont even bother buying the textbook. Everything is from the PowerPoint. She will always give 1-3 points as a curve and extra credit on every test. Everything on final is from old tests. She is caring and always have a +ve attitude.
Fondufe has a slight accent but its still very easy to understand her. The lectures were really interesting and she sometimes included questions from the exam on the slides. She also has additional online homework that will help you learn the material.
Mason is blessed to have Dr. Fondufe. She is so knowledgeable and passionate about bio. She will provide students with amazing notes and study guides. Replies to email within few hours. She has respect for all her students. Just make sure to study the powerpoint notes and you will ace her exam. I would take her again.
She is definitely passionate about biology as you can tell by her lectures. The homework on Sapling is very easy to get an A on and she gives you plenty of time to complete them. Her exams are based off of her powerpoints so attendance isn't mandatory. She will answer any questions you may have during the lecture.
Such a sweetheart. All lectures are read directly off the powerpoint, so attendance is not mandatory. YOU HAVE TO STUDY. Study guides are incredibly long but success in the class is based entirely on how well you know test content.
She's amazing. Take her!! Her exams are easy because she gives study guides that are really similar to the tests. She also posts her powerpoints that are word for word just like the textbook, so don't bother buying it. She makes her lectures fun and tolerable, and she's really easy going. Take her if you are given the chance!
The slides and textbook for this class are pretty dry, but Dr Fondufe is so animated and passionate that she makes it (at least fairly) interesting. Very nice and caring, definitely recommend to get through upper level bio classes.
Horrible. Can't teach at all and reads directly off the slides. Don't be fooled by others that she's easier than other professors. She's the most difficult.
Not good
Reads off the slides a lot of times and she does not explain well.
Rambling excessive talking makes understanding simple concepts difficult. Constantly behind her teaching schedule so we are left to teach stuff on our own for tests. tests are exceptionally difficult and her powerpoints do not prepare you for them. You might as well teach yourself the information. Definitely do not take her.
I recommend if you actually want to do well and know the material do NOT take this professor. This is a heavy do it yourself type of class and no homework just heavy lectures/exams.
Hard material very with detailed processes. intelligent. Not good at explaining, can't get a word in during class to clarify bc she goes so fast. Exams are the hardest. Wording meant to confuse u. asks VERY specific info. Take MADDEN instead! If u have no choice, DO NOT take other hard classes with hers. need 8 hr study per wk to get above a C.
Very sweet prof, but her lectures are nonstop talking and hard to focus on. Her exams are difficult and confusing (very wordy) and you need to study well for them (go over the sample questions she posts on BB as many are the same as in the exam). The sapling hw and lab help increase overall grade. Passable class just work hard.
Online homework every week, 1 midterm, and 1 final. The lab isn't too bad. She is very lecture heavy and I mostly taught myself at home. Textbook isnt required but access code is. Tests are ok but the ppts are so long and take forever to go through. Final exam is cumulative. Lab consists of labwork and 2 presentations. Boring class but not too bad
She makes Bio 213 extremely hard. Tests are extremely in-depth and over complicated. Also the final is a mix of the last 3 units and cumulative part. Sucks, do not take her. Her lectures are charismatic though
She is good at lecturing but her exams are difficult. They are not direct questions. She asks questions in depth, so you are required to understand the material instead of just memorizing it. I am a science major and took Biology classes before, but I struggled in this class.
She's a really good teacher. She explains well and tries her best to make everything clear for you. I must admit that her tests are difficult because there are a lot of "Everything is true except" questions, but she gives extra credit questions for every test and gives everyone points for test questions if they are too difficult.
She's one of the best teachers you would ever take. She explains well, is always available for help when you need, is very considerate, and she's so nice. This is BIOL213 so don't expect the class to be easy. There's no easy A no matter who you have. If you study hard, you will surely do well on tests. Make sure you go to class.
I love her to death, although her exams are REALLY difficult. Dr. Fondufe does not curve her regular exams, although she may curve the final depending on how the class performs. She is a really kind-hearted, charismatic teacher, just be prepared to not understand what you are doing on the exams, even if you do study.
Try to avoid this prof if you can. She's very hard to understand and so is her lab counterpart. Her slides were always over 100 slides long and the tests were extremely hard, going into more detail than the slides did.
She will give pop quizzes but pushes us to talk to each other to get the correct answer. The Slides and homework are very useful. We never used a textbook. While fair Prof. would never take again her test are seen as the hardest against other Profs. The tests are nothing like the practice test from her or PA. Tests are graded heavily. No Curve!
Don't take this professor if you don't like reading the book!! Her tests are VERY difficult and detailed. If really have to memorize the textbook and her 100+ pp slides if you want to get anything over 70% on her exams.
Her Intro Bio class is fine but you would have to do most of the learning yourself. You don't need the textbook and the homework is on Pearson. She posts all the powerpoints on Blackboard as well as study guides for the exams. The exams are basically straight from her study guides. She has pop quizes that are optional for extra credit.
She lectures whatever is on the powerpoints (which is already posted on Blackboard ahead of time). She does have pop quizzes for extra credit. As for the homework, if you miss a question then each attempt deducts a small percentage off from your grade. The TA has test review sessions but you're teaching yourself in general.
Lectures what is off the powerpoints, which she posts on blackboard. She does not put your grades on blackboard. You have homework assignments each week but they are not hard. Her lectures can be kind of boring. The tests can be difficult because she tests off of her powerpoints that are way too detailed. A lively speaker and great person though!
Her class is a joke as long as you are teaching yourself. The lectures are from her powerpoint that she uploads on blackboard. The only way you get through this class is if you study on your own. Textbook is a waste of money, the poweropint is good enough. I barely go to class and Im doing fine.
This was my first semester at Mason as a transfer student and let me just say, this class didn't make it any easier. I spent a lot on the textbook and did not even use it! This class is not hard at all but if you Fondufe, you're just making it more difficult. She has a high pitched voice that left me with a migraine every class. Choose wisely.
Fun teacher. I didnt need the textbooks because the powerpoints were easy to follow. Pop quizes before tests . 5 tests last one is cumulative . Study guides are helpful but its better to go over every slide again before the tests. I would reccomend coming to class because she tells us what charts will help you and what to memorize.
For my 1st Bio class as a freshman, It wasn't a bad experience. She really tries to make the class fun. This class was more of a "teach yourself" type of class though. Her PowerPoint slides were basically the textbook, so just go over her many slides to review for the test. Even though attendance not mandatory, there are mini pop-quizzes sometimes.
She is a very cool teacher and explains the concepts as well as she can. there are only 3 exams + 2 part final + online homework so you have to do well on each thing. Homework is online and can be done quickly and the tests are gone over in class and she posts study guides.
She's super energetic. Her lectures are like music to your ears. If you show up to the lectures she can have an extra credit opportunity by giving the class a short quiz which will count towards your attendance and not towards how well you know. Her final has the same questions from her first 2 exams so cram those questions from exams 1 and 2!!
prof is caring and not rude or tough. only thing about her is that lectures are INCREDIBLY boring and very hard to stay attentive too. She's basically reading out of the textbook. Quizzes are fine if you stay listening to lectures but exams are usually tougher and require a fine understanding of the material that usually goes beyond her lectures
Prof. Fondufe lectures are good and so are her ppts. Her ppts are basically from the textbook so theres no need to buy the textbook. Just study the ppts for the exams. Also make sure to do the hw online and study her study guides, and you'll do fine on her exams. If you don't get understand anything just see her during office hrs, it helps a lot.
Three 50 question tests and 100 q. final. 15 page study guides to prepare for exams that will only have 1/5 of the information on it. Attendance is not mandatory but sometimes she asks questions in the lecture for extra credit. If this pertains to your major then this is a good class but if you're just looking to pass then take a different class.
She definitely has expressive lectures. She can seem a bit repetitive, but this is for student memorization. Attendance isn't mandatory since the lecture power-points are online, but she likes to give out easy A quizzes during lecture and show slide content and diagrams not found in the content online, so beware.
Dr. Fondufe is a really good professor, but this class is pretty hard. She posts the lecture slides, but says additional information during her lecture, so you need to go if you want to learn everything. The Sapling homework assignments are easy, and the exams are pretty difficult. Make sure you utilize the Learning Assistants for this class!
She was alright. She's very passionate about Bio, but sometimes she talked to us like we were stupid. The exams are pretty tough, and there are random pop quizzes in the middle of a lecture. I did not use the textbook once, because she put so much information on all of the lecture slides I felt I did not need it.
Everything people have said on here is true. Shes nice but it is a tough course. It was a tough semester bc of COVID, but she never put in any of the homework grades for this semester which did affect my grade as well as others. Her TA's are awful. They are unsure of themselves & did not bother to change their teaching style to accomodate online.
I guess i'm the online rating you're looking for :) I am currently taking her class and it is a tough course. Dr. Fondufe's lectures are heavy but she goes into everything in depth. Gives some points back from exams to help with scores. Lowest exam score is dropped. Final for my class rn is open notes. TA's are REALLY helpful! attend those sessions
She gives lectures with extra information that isn't on the exams, but she will point out what she wants you to recall. (study the images!!) Attendance isn't necessarily mandatory, but the pop quizzes are collaborative and really easy, and give you a few extra points. 5 exams total. 4 & 5 are the final. 5 replaces the lowest of exams 1-3.
Her voice really keeps you captivated! As long as you pay attention during the lectures and take notes on her powerpoints the exams aren't that bad.
I understand that during the pandemic, classes are more difficult. However, this does not excuse the way she teaches. Everything is on powerpoint and her lecture are just her talking about the powerpoint. There is no point in going to lecture online. On top of this, the way she talks to student is the equilvalent to a teacher to a grade schooler.
do not take her!!!! her test are so hard. she did not cover all the chapters from the syllabus. You have to study EVERYTHING off of her powerpoints in order to do well on the test. With this pandemic going on she's not that helpful.
Class is not impossible. She's actually not a bad professor you just really need to learn how to manage your time, and be able to study for exams at least two weeks beforehand -since the powerpoint notes are long & takes time to digest. She gives clues about what will be asked on exams & she curves exams which is nice. Just don't procrastinate guys
Honestly, the only reason I got an A in this class is because of the TAs. Their review sessions are SO HELPFUL. I never took AP bio in high school, so I had to study real hard; basically memorizing the ppts and rereading textbook chapters. If you're willing to put in the work in studying at least a week before exams, you'll do alright.
Make sure you attend lecture because this class has very heavy content. The tests were open note, but you need to study before the exams because you will not have time to look up every answer. It is hard to keep up with her, so make sure to have good note taking. You can tell she really cares about biology and knows her stuff.
Since biology is my major, I did the right thing by starting with this class. Dr. Fondue makes the class so interesting, I love her lectures. She is so motivational and tbh if you know her slides, you can pass the exams easily. I enjoyed this class a lot. Also, no need to buy a textbook cuz she covers everything in her slides. I totally recommend.
Not a science major, but did good. Reviewed ppts. & recordings w/ the study guide to pass the tests. Lectures are heavy. If you are a visual learner, no worries she has got that covered (Teaches everything simply). Refer to the txtbk, office hours, or her LA/TA for help. DO NOT fall behind! Manage your time and you will be okay!
Prof Fondufe was the best prof I had this semester. She is such a lovely woman that really enjoys what she does and it's reflected on her way to explain her lectures. She was willing to make the tests open note when we asked her to. She is very patient with her students too. Beware of the lab instructors though! Get Inst Sheik for lab :) he is nice
good lecturer but her lectures went so slowly so our class was kind of behind. lots of details, thus need memorization. the LA's are very useful & supportive. Just study her slides thoroughly & you'll pass the test. a lot of stuff is from high school so it shouldn't be so hard.
Dr. Fondufe was a great teacher! It's a dense class but shes so enthusiastic and energetic that lectures were pretty fun. Unfortunately we got super behind so we didnt finish all the material but she was pretty good.
she's enthusiastic about bio, i'll give her that. but in return, she can come off a bit snobbish if you ask a question. i've had her as both a lab & lecture prof, and she's better as a lab prof. her lectures are long & she often goes over, plus there's so much to memorize. tests are meticulous & can be hard to understand. decent but wont take again
...I would never take this course again. Prof was so behind on the slides like all semester bc each is like 80 slides long...5 exams and her questions are super wordy, LOTS of true/false :( , and she doesn't give us enough time to take each exam. It was a terrible experience. This is not in doctorate school.
Exams are extremely difficult. She lets you use notes when it is online because of how much material is covered, but they still do not help too much. She is very nice and knows what she is talking about, but goes very slow. On the day of the final we took the last chapters test then had 15 min break before then beginning the final. That day sucked.
prof. fondufe is really nice and is always willing to listen to her students. the class does require a substantial amount of outside studying time though. i aced every exam, and all I did was make sure i went through the powerpoints and understood everything. the exams aren't as bad as I thought they would be, but make sure to read carefully!
Although this class was an online lab, she still has assignments where we have to meet up with other classmates in person. She has objectives that she grades upon but never fully specifies, so you will lose points if you miss the mark even by a little bit. She is an extremely harsh grader. 1000000% DO NOT RECOMMEND HER AS A LAB INSTRUCTOR!!
This prof is the absolute worst teacher in science. Test a way too in depth. You need to be a PHD in science before taking this class. Does not curve or listen to student needs. Not helpful or understanding.
the test are extremely hard and she does not care about student doing well. she was happy when the class average was low. she gets so hyped and angry when teaching lecture.
Professor Fondufe is very sweet and kind, but she plows through the material very fast. Its hard to keep up with all the information and to take everything in. The exams tend to have very difficult questions and go more in depth that what we learn in class. Be ready to take a lot of notes on the power point which are usually 40-80 slides long.
just not a good class. she is so bad. she ignores request from students and just laughs at our pain as we fail the exam
The textbook was expensive but was never used.
She is very passionate and it shows in her lectures. She teaches through powerpoints (which are around 80 slides per chapter), but gives additional information in class. The exams are open note, but study the powerpoint slides and do the study guide because most of the questions are from them. I took this class online, so HW came from textbook
This professor just reaches straight from the PowerPoint so attending lecture is kind of pointless as you can teach yourself the material. But the tests are open note and heavily based on the PowerPoint s she provides.
Her test and notes dont match up. She expected us to learn material on our own that wasnt cover in class because it will be on the exam. Her exams are very difficult with 50 questions and we only have an hour and 30 min to complete it. Dont take her.
Attendance is not important because you can teach yourself with the PowerPoint. The only thing people have to be worry for this class is the midterm because there 50 questions and the time is limited. Also the test are open note however sometimes it hard to find the stuff because she doesnt include on the PowerPoint
Lectures are fast paced and have lots of details. Tests are all open note. Use LAs review session and study guides to do well on tests.
Prof Fondufe is a bang average teacher. It was an online class that she fills with long lectures of 80+ slides of content. Tests/final are open note that are directly from the powerpoint slides. She also gives detailed study guides that are also directly on the test. Managed to not pay attention to class and come out with an A. Easy intro bio class
Professor Fondufe does not offer extensions or accommodate to students no matter the circumstance. Her test content is much more specific than her 80 slide powerpoints. Our last test was the same day as our final with only 15 minutes in between. All of her notes are accessible outside of her lectures and the textbook is not necessary. Do not take
Worst professor I've ever had, her slides seemed to be copypasted from the textbook w/no clear indication of the important info needed. Her test questions are like essays, have way too many questions for the amount of time given. When asked questions by the class she always deferred them to her TA and generally seemed uninterested in teaching.
Her tests are open-note but challenging. It's about test-taking skills & creating study guides to control F. LAs are amazing so go to review sessions bc they will tell you what to study. Study the practice questions she posts and put effort into this class. She gives around 4 points back every exam as the "curve"
Her lectures are pointless, she just read off the slides and her exams are a bit heavy. I always got Bs on her exam and I should be thankful to the LAs. if you attend the review sessions you will do really well on the exam because they give practice questions that are from the exams. I attended the last few ones and I got an A because of them.
Her lectures was just her reading off the powerpoint slides. She has an accent so she can be hard to understand. There are 11 homework assignments to do but you can google the questions and get the answers. 5 exams 50 questions each. Exam 4 and 5 were counted together as your final exam. Lockdown browser is required but she allows open notes.
to be honest the test were insane but i took her twice because attendance was lax but in order to understand things for her class ATTEND those tutoring sessions don't miss them because they provide more detail to her lectures. Also her tests are open note.
Expect to buy a lot of materials for this lab and waste food! I spent so much time doing the experiments for this course than any other 400lvl course I was taking. Prof is nice & sent weekly reminders. Not an easy grader but has clear guidelines so just follow them! Take this lab in person if you don't want to fund all the labs on your own.
GO TO THE LA'S REVIEW SESSIONS!! Tbh the LA's, especially Arasta carried the class, she's amazing! they really try and help you learn, they WANT you to pass. learn from them and not the teacher; they condense material that makes sense and is for the tests. graded only on HW and tests; hw are pretty easy and you have all the time to do them.
Dr. Fondufe was very passionate during her lectures and you can easily tell she loves teaching. Arasta, Tony, and Arwah were extremely helpful and you can tell they wanted every student to pass the course. I highly recommend attending LA review sessions for exams (Pay attention to Arasta's review slides).
Prof Fondufe was caring and understanding. Course is graded by very few things so you must do well on the exams. HW was through textbook which didn't take long & was all due at the end of semester. Prof has a thick accent which can be hard to understand online. Attendance is optional. Make sure to review the study materials from the Prof & LA's!
People say she has so many lecture slides but that helped me a lot. I took notes on all of the lectures and all that content was on the exams which made it very easy to pass the class. She's also available during office hrs for questions which helped a lot you can tell she's really passionate abt bio and wants ppl to understand the content
Unfortunately, you take 4 exams throughout the semester and that is it. It is not open book and in a testing center. Learning that much intense information and retaining it throughout multiple lectures was extremely hard. Even when I studied hard in advance. It is just too much - it should be a quiz every chapter. I am extremely disappointed.
Attendance is not necessary, you can always access the recordings whenever. Highly recommend note-taking. Tests were tricky in wording. Do not plan your classes too close together, Professor Fondufe tends to go over time. This class tests you on a LOT of info. I survived this class by attending the TA sessions. Big thank you to Arasta and Tony!
The TAs were lifesavers. Their review sessions saved me. The class was a lot of writing. You don't have to attend the online lecture, and the recordings are all there, it's kind of self-paced. It was hard to listen to the lectures because of her talking style, it was a little annoying. great teacher and great class, study hard, and pay attention.
Online class was easy and all homework was open notes. She's a sweet person but her exams are very difficult and the study guides are worded differently than the test questions. She does curves thankfully and exams are taken in the testing center. Take notes and intake information the best you can or you'll not do well.
She just reads off slides with lots of information and has 50 question exams with a final exam of 100 questions. the final exam has 50 questions of the 2 previous exams and 50 questions of new material. Shes a sweet person and quick with emails, but just throws a bunch of information out there with long exams .
Dr. Fondufe might seem like a nice teacher until it comes to EXAMs. she do give extra points to help you in your exams as well replace your lowest exam with the highest score. BUT her exams are living hell. 3 exams 2 finals. out of 3 exams she blend and mix questions to create exam 1,2,3 and they are not like what you study on the slides or book.
Imagine this, you show up to her online class only to be annoyed by her the extreme length of lecture. Every lecture is 80-90 slides which eventually you have to memorize all in order to pass the exams. Exams are CLOSED BOOKS/NOTES taken at the testing center. The twist of her words on exam questions are unbearably and very confusing. AVOID HER!!!
I had her last sem. Personally, not for me. If you like exams that are not like the study guide and worded very very differently, I would say go for it. If you can retain 90 slides during lectures, I would also say go for it. Difficult to know what to study, but exams are curved. The curve didn't help a lot of people in my class though.
Could not understand her lectures and only graded by a couple exams
This was my hardest class by far. I took notes every class and studied a LOT. The LA's saved my whole life. They're the best and a big reason I got the grade I did. Lectures are heavy content and she went over time (5-15mins +) every single class. The textbook is mandatory/ taken from tuition but it doesn't help with exams/she doesn't reference it.
The exams were unclear and lectures were way too fast and unclear information. The LAs tried to help but it still was hard to understand the exams because of the terrible way the questions were written. I don't recommend this professor even if you understand the material the exam questions will mess you up. Exams have a big part in your grade too.
Even if you do amazing in every homework, but the exams will ruin your grade and determine if you will pass the class or not. The questions for the exams are very complicated, and it will definitely be confusing. Recommend you find an alternative professor, or class overall.
Had her for 103 as well. Still not good at teaching. Lectures sometimes last 15 min after class. 60% of grades are based on horribly worded exams and 15% on homework. Last sem listened to the prof, this sem only attended LA and had better grades. No wonder she was the last option for bio. exams are not open notes. TAs helped. i
I did not like her teaching. Other people in the past years liked her, but I guess she changed her class layout. Very descriptive tests with info she doesn't talk about. If you have to take her, go to the LA's Zoom instead.
I understand why she has negative reviews. However, this class was offered a lot of TA chapter review sessions that were very helpful! They even went over some questions worded differently on the exam and the study guide. Homework was easy just a lot of assignments. Lowest exam grade gets replaced with final exam grade if better! You will pass.
The class was tough, but the helpful TAs and Zoom review sessions were a lifesaver. Lectures were long, and exams could be tricky, but unstuckstudy AI really boosted my study prep and helped me succeed.
Hands down the worst Bio professor i've ever taken at mason. There is 3 midterms and 2 final exams all 50 questions each and are nothing like the study guides she provides. Good luck studying for all of that while also managing your other classes. trust me avoid her at all cost. idk why she evn has that many 5 stars lmao
had her online, im definitely not the best at bio but she wasn't the worse. in this class though if you want to pass you definitely need to self study as her lectures alone aren't enough. only thing i disliked was some of her assignments were very specific on notes. she wouldnt be my top choice but if shes the only one you can take she isnt awful
Bro trust me take someone else I should've dropped out.. the way she doesn't finish her slides on time?? just please read the textbook before watching her videos and take notes then ask chat got to make a study guide, I have a 80 rn like BORDER LINE.... do trust me Please. go LA review cause their stuff is kinda like the test and pay attention
Worst bio professor ive had . Took her twice and failed both times. You're only graded by 3 midterms and 2 final exams. If you do take her make sure you memorize every single thing. Exams have weird wording, just make sure you have good memory.
tbh, Dr.Fondufe receives so much hate but homegirl is so easy, if she wasn't retiring (from what I heard) you should pick her, yes, the content is lecture heavy and that is all you have to study but at the end of the day her exam questions come from the slides. Her wording is a little confusing, but I find it a lot easier to pass than to fail.
Her class was okay, but not the best. However, even if she wasn't retiring, only her exams were very tedious which I suggest self-study because the way she worded and the materials she provided for the exams were not useful. If you're really good at biology take her, if not the oh well lol.
Honestly, I worked very hard for my grade. I went to all the review sessions and I feel like I learned better from the review sessions. It was hard to retain information from her lectures and I'd use ai to make study guides of the notes I took which kind helped. Take someone else if u can but she is tough. I tried my best ngl.
