She is a sweetheart. She rambles on and on... and doesn't realize that the class is lost. The only people that do well in her class are the ones that understand biology. The good thin about her is that she realizes that not everyone wants to major in biology and half of us are just taking the class because it is required. So she trys to make everyon
She's also always flustered about nothing and I agree she rambles on and gets students confused because she doesnt realize your lost. I also agree that unlike most science teachers she realizes that not everyone wants to major in biology and most of us are just taking the class for a credit.
She is really great! She tries so hard so everyone passes the class, gives extra credit and review for the exams. On her lecture she gives away so many questions for the test. You just have to review your notes, the study guide, the book..and very important the questions at the end of the chapter. She knows her stuff!!!
She gave us study guides, illustrations on the board, plus she'll email us the pp presentations, that's the key to do well in her tests - to study from the stuff she mails. She is not malicious, she stated I REALLY WANT YOU TO GET SOMETHING ABOUT WHAT I TEACH - which i thought was nice of her.
great teacher..her lectures are okay, no biggie there. She gives an outline of whats EXACTLY on the test. Always there to help in the time of need, and H.W. is mad easy. Its straight from the book, and it helps to pull up your grade. DEFFINETLY RECOMMENDED!!!! :]
AWESOME TEACHER! The Forensics DNA testing lab was cool. She is very nice and makes the class worthwhile. If you are going to take a Bio Lab class...I repeat...if you are going to take a BIO LAB CLASS....THIS IS THE ONE!
She is a little flaky, and she talks very fast when giving her pp presentations but her tests are SO easy, they are directly from the online quizes that she says to review....question for question, answer from answer, almost exact. you could get an A by only showing up to one class and then just reviewing the online quizes
This is the worst prof ever. DO NOT TAKE HER! DO NOT TAKE HER!. She has no patience and is sooooo rude. She is the worst I've ever taken. She is on some type of insane medication. This lady is the worst prof. I've ever had. I hate her sooooo much!!!
Professor Hauer is one of the best teachers i have ever had in BCC, she is always willing to help, her tests are EASY, her classes are in power point presentation which helps you understand it better, great personality, if you want to learn and at the same time enjoy a class i recommend you take her!!!!
Nice, easy, and helpful. Mrs. Hauers class was super easy she helps you with anything you need, and work is minimal. only 2 test in this class and the final was a field trip. take her class!
She is great! Mrs. Haur cares about the success of each and everyone of us. Lots ofextra credit availible, not difficult tests, and a nice lady who is always glad to help and chat with her students. What else do you need?

Best teacher!! so nice and is willing to help students..take her!!!!!!!
Professor Hauer is the kindest and sweetest woman ever. She is very soft spoken and easygoing; and her lectures are clear and concise. If you need to take the general biology lab, do it with Professor Hauer. I didn't have her for the general biology course, but I would think she'd be good for that too.
She is the best ever...I suck at Biology, period. This was my second time taking it, and I actually learned a lot of****...I would highly recommend her! But don't expect to get a good grade if you don't go and don't buy the book...But she is honestly the nicest lady in the world, and shes pretty funny...She'll make you think twice about some****
total sweetie
She enjoys talking about the subject and she is generally and energentic. She is extremely helpful and understanding, but she should be respected as a qaulity teacher. Her lab can be fun if you let it, and I would recommend taking her for it.
The nicess teacher you will ever meet. The test were a little trickie but i still pass them. Make sure to do the extra credit becasue if you are between a B or C she give you the B if you did the extra credit.
Easy class. You have to pay attention to the lectures. Gives plenty of extra credit! She can be snappy at times. I got a B but I didnt do the extra credit! Take advantage of the XC you will be fine!
Sure, she's nice. And I'm sure she knows a lot about the subject, but her teaching skills are horrible. Her lectures are boring and hard to follow. Her tests are insane. If you work hard, you can get a 'B'
Great teacher! Classes are always full so if u are lucky to get into one, try. She makes hard topics real and understandable. Lecture notes are on her webste, you have to read the book. Has research in marine stuff and wrote papers so that is cool. Overall a nice person to know!
the pro. is very nice but her teaching style is very unclear. she is very knowlegable on the subject and lectures as though you have her same insight. if you are not good in science, find someone else. def. not an easy "a"
She is an extremely easy teacher, she can get stressed out very easily but good overall. Book use isnt required for class but test material is pulled from book. Attendance helps the grade, so COME TO SCHOOL. Take advantage of the xtra credit it will help ALOT. Good recommendation.
great teacher. lot of extra credit. attendace is mandatory. the only problem is that she stresses a lot about doing good in her class
She is little on the weired side. I think it was an okay class. SHe seems to get annyoed when you ask her a question. SHe kind of dramatic, but she also very helpful when it comes to passing the course. She worries about people feeling bad about her tests. Yeah they are difficult but she gives a lot of extra credit which helps your grade in th
Good prof &is fair. You have show up or you'll be lost, book s****. I got a B but missed classes. She explains good and wants stud to learn. Gives lots of extra credit.Everything on her test is in her website, lectures & book. --students gave her a hard time with questions about nothing.Explainations given in lecture. Can get an A if you show up.
Gives a lot of extra credit, really knows her stuff and she is soft spoken. But, she is very insecure and gets very defensive easily about anything and everything. Tests are not easy but the extra credit is extremely helpful! She didn't give us a final b/c she saw that we worked really hard on the paper and presentation. I recommend her!
she was so unpredictable! it made it fun to come to class to see what the drama of the day was with her! haha very very very easy A, gives A LOT of extra credit. She really wants her students to understand the material and i thank her for that
If you read comments below you will see a consensus on the issues of: stress level, irritability and "drama". I went into this class with a high interest level and found the whole experience to be unpleasant, uninformative and unprofessionsl IN SHORT A WASTE OF MY TUITION DOLLAR. Coverage of the material was spotty, incoherent and confusing.
If you're a bio major, don't take her. I came out knowing less than when I went in. She has no control over the class and she's very rude. She's always late and goes off topic. Easy class but you won't learn anything!
Listen I slack as much as I can and I got an A in her class. She is such a sweet lady and I did fine on all the test by only going on the website and taking the practice test. I didn't buy the book or take notes. She's really really nice...My girlfriend and I both have taken her and got great grades. I'm about to take her for the lab and cant wait.
This teach is the best she gives alot of extra credit! def take her if you need Biology You wont regret it definite A or B if you try and show effort
Good prof. Thought she was kind of weird in the beginning but once you get used to her personality it's a great class. Provides all powerpoints and study guides on her website. Tests are kind of difficult, if you study a passing grade should result. Let us do a presentation based on our case study (which is mandatory) instead of a final. Nice lady!
Difficult tests. u have 2 attend class to pass the tests. 2 take home quizzes. shes very unorganized. passed w. a C.
Very goodprofessor.Attendance is very important in her class (she gives credit for it).She gives alot of extra credit;which really helps. Just show interest and give some effort. She'll try to work with you.Her personality was a little weird but overall she's a sweet person. Oh yeah, DO NOT TALK WHEN SHE'S LECTURING! THAT'S A BIG NO NO! Got an "A"
She's very whacko.. Can be very ****y... I got a B but I definetly studied and did all the extra credit. If you want to pass her class you need to look at her study guide reviews online there very helpful alot of those questions are on the test.
I took pro hauers class over a year ago and i can still explain mitosis at the drop of a hat.. i learned so much in her class. Shes an amazing person with a lot of heart and compassion for her students. i would definitely take her again
She does not interact well with students. Her teaching skills are very very very poor. I dont think that she even likes to teach. I would not recommend taking her.
Definitely not my fav professor. I think she has good intentions, but is very stressed out, spelled terms wrong and admittedly has blank moments. Had not taught zoo lab before and it showed. Most people bombed the practicals. Did not learn much in class, had to teach myself and did not match with what was learned in lecture. Many dropped before end
Ms.Hauer is a good teacher, she moves a little fast with the power point notes, but you can get them on her web site so its not that big of a deal. She gives review packets for every test and gives extra credit when she can. She's a sweet and funny lady who's willing to help. If you have to take bio, take Ms.Hauer and ur sure to get at least a B!!!
Very sweet lady...easy class...gives lots of extra credit...your def. sure to pass once you review the study guides has given. Sshe drops the lowest grade and basically just wantd to see her students excel. She def. not the type to fail you....very helpful I would say. I reccomend you take her class.
If you got anything less than a "B" in her bio 1 class; which you should have gotten an "A", and you are a serious college student. You need to drop out and go work at McDonalds, B/c your either very dumb or ultra lazy. Hence, not a serious college student adn you dont belong anywhere near a text that obtains somewhat challengin material in it!
Very easy class. If you are looking for an easy A I recommand her.
WHAT A DITZ. ugh I took her for 8am bio lab in the summer and it SUCKED. She gave a quiz EVERY class for the first 5 minutes and if you were late you got a 0 (which was EASY when its pouring every day and the parking lots are full/flooded).. she didn't help much and she was very high-strung and stressed out all the time! Wouldn't recommend.
She is awesome! i got 110% in class.all you have to do is the pre labs and post labs.they are 5 questions long n super easy.take quiz every class which is 10 questions, she grades very easy.she totals your quizzes at end so its ok if you fail some.she is sometimes confusing but if you ask her she'll explain. She doesnt fail anyone who attends class
She was nice enough, but seemed very overwhelmed. She did take over for Dr. Ayala when Dr. Ayala went on maternity leave, but if you can't handle the extra classes, then simply say no. She seemed like she was on something. Very ditzy, very unorganized. I only had her half the semester, but my impression of her wasn't that great. Wouldn't recommend.
Keep clear if you know whats good for you.
Never thought i would have negative feelings about a professor, but this one annoyed me. The tests are easy if you pay attentiona dn look over quizzes online. It seems as if i cant ask a question and she thinks we're microbiologists. Seriously, there are ALOT of biological terms we dont know. She knows her stuff but i dont recommend her dat much
took her for lab and she is pretty good at what she does. very helpful although she talks too much but her class is interesintg most of the time. if you want an A though you need to study for her class. well it's microbio what do you expect.
Professor Hauer is so incredibly smart and there is a lot that can be learned in this class. You do have to study and pay attention. If you do those things, you will get a good grade. She can be testy at times and does get irriated at students often. But I would recommend taking the class. She's very knowledgable & easy to understand!
Professor hauer is one of the best professors here at BC. if you need help, pro. hauer is willing to help, but it is recommended that you atleast read the material before classes. most people don't realize that whatever work you put is what you'll get out. i would reccomend her to anyone, who wants to learn from a professional, about microbiology.
Professor Hauer is great, she is very passionate and devoted to microbiology, she help's you out lot and her class could be a living hell but she sparkes an intrest in the subject. Read the text book, and you'll do fine. For the person who wrote that (dat) I don't think you shold be in college anyway.
I was looking forward to this class prior to attending Prof. Hauer's class but this teacher is not the greatest prof at BC. She gets frustated, irritated and is very easily annoyed by students asking questions. She is also very ditzy and kind of weird. If you can avoid her please do so, take Prof. Khan instead! Oh and she never reviews for tests...
Wow!! First off I got an A in this class however it was mostly do to my own hard work. Had to teach myself several chapters,(prof are paid to teach!!!) and do take home tests that to be honest I would have rather taken a 100 question exam blind in class. Prof. Hauer is overwhelmed, way in over her head, very unstable, would not recommend
Drop this class NOW!!She is not a good teacher and does not enjoy teaching therefore making the subject incomprehensible for the students. Always complaining about her job, kids, pay....She does not do any reviews.Do not ask questions,it makes her mad. You have to teach yourself. She makes mean remarks because SHE has a doctorate degee.
This class is hard, but this prof helps you get through it. You have to show up and read before the lectures. Worth it if you want to get a decent grade.
This class is hard I would say and being it's the third time I took this class I would say not every professor teaches the same. The difference between this professor and my first two is she goes from her knowledge and her working in the field. This professor has a Masters in this subject and she would tell you it's alot of information. READ READ
Prof. Hauer is very serious and teaches as such. She takes her career serious. She really cares about her students; she just wants repect,if you talk to her she will work with you. A good professor, but take her serious cause she is not a ditz like some of the comments say. She is a smart person. STUDY,READ,STUDY READ.
I was top student. Simple memorization of info. I NEVER used textbook, didn't even own one. Do the study guide and use her powerpoints. She is nervous in front of people, easily gets distracted and upset by questions or entering/leaving during lecture.
She is really funny. Like awkward she makes like random comments and gestures out of no where. Really a character! But she knows her stuff very well. I would have done way better if i had paid attention from the very beginning of the semester. If anyone taking her just study hard with study guides and power point notes.
I had Ms. Hauer for Micro lecture & lab. She is very in tune with her class. She can sense when the class stumbles on a concept, and takes time to explain with a style that you can understand. The class agreed she knows the subject inside out. She is very organized and enthused when teaching, which helps not only her, but the class too. She gives
She's great. Funny. Happy to teach. I would have had an A if I read all the chapters like she said. Enjoyed the class. She sure knows her stuff. Wish I had her for lab.
Excellent teacher, she has great teaching skills and gives so many options for studying, the only way to pass this class is to study and the ones failing it expect just to come to class and not study and pass.. gives extra credit, tests are multiple choice.. only bad thing is she gets mad out of nowhere sometimes..very impatient.overall good teacher
Professor Hauer is an amazing teacher! Gives plenty of extra credit. Quizes and tests on a regular basis but she prepares you well for them! Loved this class!!!
She is a little crazy. Hardly ever on time and her test questions require more guesswork than knowledge.
Very helpful. Very fair and knows her stuff. She enjoys her work. Read and you will do fine. I recommend her.
Loved her class! She is interesting and fun and she really knows her stuff. She is a sweetheart and is always willing to help if you need it! Take her, you will love her class!
micro is a very hard subject she tries her best to make you understand, one of best micro teacher a bc take her is really good
prof. hauer, is fair, as long as you do your part, one should get no less than B. In addition if she sees that you care about your grade then she will help you. Also her tests are fair, as long as you study. furthermore this class isn't a giveaway it does require work, but its not impossible either, but this prof. is overall.
I can say this teacher is very good. More helpful than other teachers especially when it comes to review. If you show up, do your assign work, get your unknown and pass your written and practical your going to be fine. :) All her info is on a power point she took the time out to do. FYI there's pop quizzes so make sure you read materials before cla
Prof. Hauer isn't the greatest professor in the world. I recommend finding another teacher. In order to past tests you need to seriously read each chapter word for word at least 3 times which is nearly impossible if you have 4 other classes. Moves through material way too quickly and is not the good explainer. She gives notes, but they're useless.
Really Great professor, i cant stand the comments made by these lazy students who just want the A given to them. Her tests are fair and are not that hard try taking NILO MARIN, and if you understand the material you should do well, she gives alot of extra credit but you have do your own part as well. Im amazed to how much knowledge this woman has.
Loved her class! I was retaking this class and I actually enjoyed coming to her class. She is so sweet. She knows a lot of interesting stuff. Study and you will do fine. Just don't talk while she's talking because she will call you out on it, but you shouldn't do that anyway because it's rude. I learned a lot! Thanks Professor!
She was very unorganized. She always rushed us out of class. sometime took attendance. If would not take her if you want to learn anything!
She is a really good teacher and gives you a lot of information that is helpful. You need to go to class everyday because the extra info she gives you is not in the powerpoints and you will need it for the tests. Pay attention, read, and go over the powerpoints you will do good in her class. Oh, and don't talk during the lecture, she hates it.
If you really want to learn something dont take her. she really doesnt teach anything she is extremely disorganized and if you ever need to contach her she is never avaliable( she has a very busy life).
Would obviously rather be doing something other than teaching college students. Not interested in student success; her exams feature ambiguous trick questions, her lengthy study guides don't relate to exams. Unapologetic about her disorganization & tardiness. (she showed up 20 minutes late for the final exam, lots of class didn't finish final)
Best professor ever! Loved her class!
If you can take somebody else dont take her, she does not enjoy teaching and she is very moody. Her test are not that hard but she doesnt give any extra assigments so what you get on the test is what is avearaged as your class grade.
My second year in school, and Professor Hauer is one of the best Biology professor's at Broward. She prepares you for four year college. Wants you to learn. Lectures, study guides, extra credit, all available and there is no final. Some of the things I learned in micro I will never forget. Happy with my grade. You get what you put in.
Gwen Hauer is an outstanding Biology professor. Read the book before class. She is understanding and gives extra credit. Treat her with respect and she will do the same. Tests all come from the power points. She goes out of her way by sending pictures and websites to help you study for the tests. Would DEFINATEY take her again! She is the BEST!!!
Professor Hauer is a great professor and is fair with her grading. If you study her notes and little reviews you should get an A in everything. I studies and received an A not only in the course but in every Test.
I've have been taking classes on and off at Broward College since 1988, and I have never had a professor so well prepared, energetic, helpful or excited about a course in all these years. You will get a good grade if you study her pp slides, and take advantage of all her extra credit. Love her!!
THE REAL DEAL REVIEW- TO PASS TAKE NOTES DURING HER LECTURE THIS INFO IS NOT ON HER SLIDES,ATTEND CLASS,DO NOT TALK,PAY ATTENTION WHEN SHE GIVES REVIEWS, ALSO SHE GIVES ALOT OF EXTRA CREDIT, OVERALL THIS COURSE IS REALLY HARD, BUT IF YOU STUDY,AND TAKE NOTES, YOU WILL BE FINE, I MUST ADMIT OUT OF THE 5 EXAMS SHE DID GIVE 1 THAT WAS IMPOSSIBLE
I took her for the SummerA MCB2010 very helpful gives a lot of extra credit but she makes u study all this material then u get 2 da test and its like why did i study so hard. but her class is not that easy dnt b expecting 2 go n there and pass jus like dat because she will throw a C at u like me but i did pass thats all that counts
She was absolutely awful-- I don't say this often. Many dropped, many either failed or had a hard time passing. We all studied for hours to pass her tests and many of didn't. Her ppts she gave out were useless, they don't pertain to the tests at all, and she was so disorganized she even had the final exam date wrong?! Not worth the headache..
If you keep your mouth shut, stay in your seat, and answer questions periodically, she will get to know you by name and be willing to help you. She is quite professional and emphasizes the important stuff. Her end of the chapter reviews are excellent prep for the tests. I would definitely take her classes again.
My experience with this professor was awaful. She was way too controling. The slightest distrubance and she becomes discombobulated.. ie, getting up to go to the bathroom, coughing, or student interaction. You will not be treated like an adult but her class is passable.
She's the best professor at Central Campus that teaches micro. Micro isn't an easy class. You have to work at it, but she does make the class passable. All her test are multiple choice(which is really nice) and instead of a final, you present a case study. She gets a little nutty sometimes, but it just makes you like her that much more.
Hauer is a great professor because she teaches with detailed information with her power points and easel board. Her MCB2010 lecture and lab is not a walk in the park. You must study to be able to pass her classes. She will go out of her way to help students with extra credit and does not move on unless everyone gets it. Make sure your lab pack
TAKE HER!! I've had her for 3 seperate courses and she's awesome and fun! absolutly love her! Professor Hauer is a hard working, dedicated teacher and it shows. She gives you great extra credit and VERY useful powerpoints and notes. Do the work and you are guarenteed to get an A, B at the least.
Great professor she really goes out of her way for students with power points and reviews. You have to study a lot to pass her class. I studied everyday for her lecture and lab to pass.
You really dony learn much from her teaching. You're gonna have to crack open the book and teach yourself. She is very nice and the class overall is super easy to pass. I recommend her.
I took her class this summer for 6 weeks, and it was a pleasure being her student. She was very helpful and sweet, even though she can get a lil crazy at times. U have to study to pass, micro is not an easy class. I learned a lot. I got an A in her lab and a B in her lecture. She is a wonderful teacher!!!
Very detailed. If she repeats its important. Her reviews kind of help if you know the information. Looks for specific details on test. Tests are fair. Homeworks help so make sure you do it right. Powerpoints she gives is mainly used to study & look over all pictures in the slides because she asks on the tests which part is which. Study notes & pps.
Great teacher! gives reviews, papers to write which help your grade, and even gives extra credit! Just attend each class and study every day! The reviews really do help. Only what she teaches is what she tests on.
Professor Hauer is one of the best professors. She goes out of her way to make sure her students do well. Two papers, homeworks, and six exams gives you lots of points. Take home final helped. Learned alot and made some good friends. If you want to learn Micro, I recommend her.
I took Dr. Hauer's bio class Fall 2010 & I'm going into my 1st yr of med school. Dr. Hauer taught me key concepts that helped me on the mcat bio section. Her teaching style is great & she actually prepares for each lectures. She reinforce concepts by drawing pictures on the board. Professor Hauer's really wants her students to succeed & is an A+.
This teacher is awesome & helpful to those who make an effort. She's so full of knowledge & an expert in here field. You will do good if you attend lectures & keep up with the assignments. The take home exams are not as easy as you might think, but you learn from them. She explains things in an easy to understand way. You won't be sorry taking Hauer.
I had her for micro lab as well... she's a great lecturer! Micro is not easy, and she made it easier to understand and not so abstract. She made it more tangible and I enjoyed her humor.
I had her for micro lab as well... very good lecturer. Micro is not easy, and she made it a little more tangible and relatable. She also really seems to care about her students and wants them to do well. I also enjoyed her humor and "quirkiness" :)
HAUER is the prof. to take if you want to actually LEARN Micro and pass your nursing exams. She is an actual MICROBIOLOGIST and has her lectures down; not just reading you the PPoint. Ask Dr. Obenauf to add her in as a Micro lecturer if you're stuck with the non-micro teachers. Why pay a pharmacy prof to teach u Micro when she is the real deal?
This comment is for the ones who took BIO 1010 and saied she is awfal and hard to pass and her review dont show up on her test. WRONG! her reviews are always in the test. She is very clear and straight foward. Gives extra credit to help you pass. You have to try hard for not to pass. REally good teacher i got an A and BIO is not my thing.
this class is easy if you take the time out to review after class and read the chapters ahead of time. she is easy to understand and tries to keep the class interesting. she tries to make sure that everyone understands the concepts that she is reviewing and is willing to help during her office hours if you do not understand.
Excellent teacher. She really knows her stuff and will teach from pp but write plenty of notes on the board that you must copy (fast) because they'll be on the tests. Gives plenty of extra credit. Review and quiz questions will be on the tests.
Spectacular professor. VERY helpful. Notes are crystal clear, and most of the tests come from just that, and the clicker quizzes we had in class. Tests were very fair, lots of extra credit opportunities. Love Hauer, taking her for Microbiology next!!!!
She is a great teacher, loves the material and help you to understand. You will have a quiz before every test, 4 test, midterm, final, and have to identify your unknown. She will give you lots of extra credit and points for attendance. Also you have to do the lab manuals they count to your grade. Take her you wont regret, she's the best.
Easy class. Took it during summer term and got an A. Dont take in the morning it was hard to stay awake. Study notes, skim through book, and you'll be fine
Got an A but she'll put you to sleep.
if you need micro she is the one to take she made the material understandable this is my second time taking micro and the 1st time i didn't understand anything if you want to get something out of micro she is the one to take you still have to study but she clarifies everything great "TEACHER"
Finally an actual micro professor who's a microbiologist! My 2nd time taking micro and got a B! She knows her stuff, has other assignments and extra credit. She explains everything out to understand. Only complaint is I'm not a fan of her personality. But other than that good professor! Take her! All the other ones at central are horrible!
DO NOT TAKE HER EVR1009 CLASS. Rude, unnecessary, and treats others in such a terrible manner. She thinks she teaches high schoolers. No common sense, no maturity, it's ridiculous. I've never had such a terrible experience and I'm an A student, it was awful. DON'T DO IT TO YOURSELF.
Professor Hauer knows microbiology! If you choose to taker her class, make sure you have a light semester load - there is A LOT of work to be done; make sure you have the time to dedicate to this class (and this includes time for the lab, ESPECIALLY!).
Professor Hauer is a great microbiology professor who is not only very familiar with the material, but also works in the field and has great experience to supplement her lectures. She has a good sense of humor and is entertaining while lecturing. She is quirky and gets a little edge at times, but is overall a great professor to take.
Tough class for lab. But prof hauer is a great prof and a great person! she is a ditzy person with a nice personality and makes class fun at times. Her exams are tough but she gives the best reviews ever! At first the class can be overwhelming but as the semester gets harder she gets more and more helpful. take her! shes awesome!
This professor is really good. She know her material and she explain it very well. JUST SO YOU KNOW, if you ask her question as soon you understand just say you understand because she will not stop talking regarding that question if you don't say that you understand. I definitely recommended her to anyone take BSC2010L AND BSC2011L.Please take her.
Sometimes gets frustrated if she sees you dont know the info even though we're just learning the subject. Great teacher and gives a ton of assignments to boost up your grade. Very helpful BUT if you disrupt her or ask to speak to her at the wrong time she is extremely RUDE and annoyed. You can see she has it out for certain students.
Professor Hauer is one of the best professors I have ever had!Microbiology is a hard subject but she makes it so clear, she explains so well and she is always helping the students understand and improve their grades. She is a beautiful lady, caring person, sweet and like I said, she is one of the best professors I ever had.I got A in her class!
Let me start by saying that micro is NOT an easy subject. With that said, she is a pretty good professor. Read her powerpoints, the notes you take AND the book and you should be fine. She has a nice voice and personality but can get really mean really fast. You can tell she is very passionate about microbiology. Good luck!
Great teacher & very knowledgeable but is a little too paranoid about students cheating & treats everyone during tests like they are.
I loved Prof. Hauer. She has been one of my favorite professors at BC. She makes the class so interesting and easy to understand that I can't believe anyone scored less than a B. She gives you the study guides and powerpoints for every test! This is one professor I hope to keep in contact with.
Can be nice & is VERY passionate about her field which is great. But I feel she has so much knowledge to explain that most of the time she is so "scattered brained." Her written notes are awful. don't be late to class! Raise your hand & ask a question each time in class even if u just asked a question and she is looking at u. she can get crazy!
great analogy "Scatter Brained" the person under me used. lol. But i studied on my own IT WAS HARD but passed
I love Prof. Hauer! She is an excellent teacher! So knowledgeable and covers so much material. She writes and draws on the board to help explain the material. This subject is very hard and her tests are hard. She can be a little weird at times and a little moody but she can also be very funny and silly. I think she's great. BC is lucky to have her.
Professor Hauer is amazing. It depends on what kind of learner you are.She knows her material inside and out she provides study guides. Also, she's a no nonsense professor when she's teaching/speaking. Wait, ask questions when she's done even if you can't read info, she gives time to get it. I would recommend her, no surprises.
She's wonderful, knows her material really well is actual microbilogist. She gives study guides, she helps you. She will not put up with talking while she's lecturing,if you have a question or can't read something wait till she's done. Her notes and guides fit the material, it's by no means an easy subject. She's no scatter brain.U must have failed!
Great teacher very knowledgeable, but she is moody, other than that you can learn and ace micro lab and feel proud of yourself because it is a difficult subject. Got an A in her class. Take her.
I don't recommend this professor at all. Of course microbiology is difficult, but she goes into too much detail and many things that are on the test are not emphasized in the class. You have to study her study guide, read all chapters, look over all the powerpoint slides and you might make a B/C. Teaches on a masters level and not undergraduate.
She gives exams with 50 questions, case studies and new research in Microbiology. Some exams contain fill in the blanks and name the picture. She doesn't like to answer questions during class she wants you to come after hours at her office. Must read the whole book to pass exams... Teaches class as though we are microbiologist. Don't take!!
Very very very hard subject! I hated her in the beginning but ended up with a B. I busted my butt for that B and til the last class I didn't know what I was getting. Gives extra credit to help with our grade. Finals as in 3 parts online and not easy. 2 case studies and 1 hw assignment. By the end of the semester you'll realize she wasn't that bad.
This course is a hard subject and she explains it good but she has so much knowledge that she goes too much into detail that is not needed. I studied ALOT and received about a 60-75 on each test. Her extra credit is 1 or 2 points and a presentation worth 10 points. I tried for an A and received a C. I recommend her but get ready to work hard.
Took class in 6 weeks over summer A. Prof gives lots of information and really cares about her students. I received C and VERY thankful cause my overall grade was a 68%. She gave me 2 xta points for perfect attendance. One of the BEST to take for this difficult class and I really learned a lot. Recommend take this class with a light classload.
Perfect prof for this tough class. Had an overall 68% and she gave the class xta points for perfect attendance, so I pulled a C. Very thankful and I really learned a lot. I recommend this professor.
unless you like a very unruly out of control with no patience bio teacher do not take her. she always has to run some where after class, almost never has time to help. and you if you miss a quiz she basically is saying " too bad so sad" and she doesn't give test reviews only chapter reviews. goodluck
She isn't very helpful at all! She has scarred me from MCB2010. She loves to hear herself talk and doesn't like you to ask questions or leave your seat often. She lectures as if you're an expert in Micro, and left you on your own when it comes to tests. Please do not take this teacher you will absolutely regret it! I dropped her class, you will to!
I learned so much in this class. This class was not an easy A. The grade I got was a reflection of all the work I put in. She gives you a lot to study from. If you do the connect homework, the chapter outlines and read the book before the test there is no way you will not be able to pass the class.
Professor Hauer is a really nice lady she clearly loves her students. But you must pay attention to her lectures in order to do well on exams! Bu she gives LOADS of extra credit!!
By far the worse professor iv ever dealt with. Lectures as if you were microbiology graduates. Super strict about everything. Don't dare to ask questions or get up in the middle of lecture. Its a tough subject but she makes it nearly impossible to pass a test with 70 or higher.
She is awesome, she has the best reviews for practicals. As long as you try in class she will be there to help you. Dont be late for her class. She only wants you to try your hardest, Micro is a hard class but she will help you to understand it. Her tests are hard but study and you will do fine.
Hauer cares for her students and her profession. The class material is straight to the point, no gray areas (except when reading a test tube result :D), and simple to understand. Do you need to study? Yes, it's school. Like for a state exam? No. A lot of quizzes to not slack off. COME TO CLASS. Read before class. TAKE HER. Amazing experience.
I took her for 6 weeks during the summer and I thought it was going to be a horrible experience but it wasn't. Most interesting lab i've taken. She explains thoroughly and her reviews are amazing. I'm so glad i took her
Learned a lot!!!
I learned a lot from her lectures and power points. It was not easy, but Professor Hauer is a great teacher and helps you to understand micro and learn. She gives interesting examples from real life. I also took her for lab - she gives amazing reviews before practicals. Definitely recommend her!
I am a visual learner and so is she, she explains everything while drawing it on the board and thats what helped me taking her class. She is a fair grade, take the pre and post test on the website for the book and you will do good on the exams. Need to study, lots of memorization
Good teacher. Mind you that Microbiology is a difficult class as it is. She explains things very well with her drawings/analogies, and she emphasizes the things that are important for the test. Gives plenty of study tools and some extra credit opportunities. As long as you show that you care about getting a good grade, she will meet you half way.
She is very nice but a bit paranoid. No pictures in class. But anyways, teacher is awesome, she really knows her stuff. There is 6 exams. We had 3 online. The final is online. Attendance is mandatory since she counts it as points. Very nice woman. Take notes and read her power points and you will get an A.
Practicals and test are a bit hard if you don't study. She gives extra credit. Her quizzes(pre lab) are online. Super easy points. Study for the written exams(they are multiple choice).
Took this class in 6 weeks despite everyone warning me ( including former profs.) but it was one of my manageable classes ever. She really cares and will attempt to help everyone out. She gives a ton of extra credit and again is one of the sweetest teachers ever. She's a bit scatterbrain but teaches amazing lectures with real world exs. to help you
Took class in 6 weeks. Despite the level of difficulty, Prof. Hauer was truly amazing at explaining everything! I'm visual and she's always drawing on the board which was helpful! I'm so happy I decided to take her! She is like a book, she knows so much and it's inspiring! I'm taking away a whole lot that I can use in Med School. Take her!!
I took professor hauer for 6 weeks during the summer and I learned a lot. She is a very caring lady who makes sure that her students have a good understanding of the material. She gave extra credit and she was AMAZING at grading assignments quickly and accurately. I would take her again and recommend her to anyone.
Her exams are very difficult, you must spend at least 8 hours a day studying to pass this class. lectures as if we were microbiologist, doesn't seem to care about her students. Her reviews are a joke; 8 to 9 page reviews that can take days to complete.? might as well her say memorize the book. A bit scatter brain. Her exams go into great detail.
I am taking the 6 weeks course. All the quizzes and the tests for the hardest chapters are online and you have 1.5 hours to do them. Everybody gets an A in those. And she gives you simplified questions for the written tests. In general, a lot of help for the A.
Very good teacher but very spazzy. She gives you everything you need to pass the class. You put in effort you will DEFINITELY pass her class. Pointers NOT to do: don't yawn, don't use the bathroom, don't speak out, DURING TEST do not have your body but forward bc she will kick you out! Other than that she's good! Her test are Fair and lectures good
Prof Hauer has study guides for each chapter. She lectures in the order of her study guides to make it easy to follow along. She puts her powerpoints online. She asks review questions at the end of each chapter. She makes Micro passable. Tests are fair and based off of lecture. Go to class, do study guides, study & you will pass.
She only gives five tests and no homework. Last test was online so it was an easy A. Has a monotone voice but easy to pass.
I understand that there aren't many microbiology professors at Broward but just be prepared that she teaches all over the place. She's very smart but not really know how to teach very well. She's forgetful and doesn't take questions easily. She's has to many ways to get all the information you need to pass her tests it's really complicated...
Prof. Hauer is awesome. I will agree that she can sometimes get scatter-brained but overall, she is very smart and wants everyone to make sure they understand material. She also draws pictures which are very helpful. You will always have to study for A/P but her reviews help a lot. She is very positive and motivating for her students as well!
Pretty easy professor. She uses the point-scale system and gives you plenty of room to make mistakes. There are 5 tests, and the last one is online. All the quizzes are online and there is no graded hw or cw. There isn't really extra credit but you should be fine without it.
She is a good professor. The class is kinda hard, but she makes it passable. You will also learn a lot in her class. She gives out study guides, quizzes online and extra credit. Pay attention in class and don't skip any classes and you will get an A. Read the material and put the effort in as well!!
She is a bit scatterbrained but she knows her stuff. Her lectures are okay. You really have to teach yourself the material from the book. She does give reviews which help on the tests. Overall I would say she's a pretty good professor.
The class Prof. Hauer taught had tests that were fair and everything on the test is covered in lecture. You have online quizzes and study guides. Micro is hard so you have to be prepared.
Work is done in groups. Tests every week. She gets frustrated when you don't understand the material and will rudely out you in front of the class if you're not catching on. Not inspirational at all. Can't say I learned much taking her course! Personally, I didn't like her at all!
DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS! HARD HARD HARD! TALKS ABOUT HER PERSONAL LIFE DURING LECTURE! DO NOT RAISE YOUR HAND IN CLASS IF YOU HAVE A QUESTION BECAUSE SHE SAYS IT DISTRACTS HER. SHE WILL PUT YOU ON THE SPOT IN FRONT THE CLASS!
Professer Hauer is easily frustrated and that doesn't make for a good learning environment. I learned a lot but I also spent quite a bit of time frustrated with the way she treated some students. Don't ask questions or walk in a few minutes late because she will call you out. If you want to pass, laugh at her jokes or she will be offended.
This professor knows her material but so does every other professor that teaches the subject. She is not approachable and can be very absentminded during lecture. She gave us some online tests and homework that was very helpful. However her in class test are horrible. The test would make you feel that you never studied Trust me do not take her
Professor Hauer teachers future Docs, PAs, and then US. Just regular students at BC trying to pass Micro so that we can get into our appropriate majors. I wouldn't recommend her at all. She's easily frustrated, and is not the professor you want to ask a question while she's lecturing. She will look pass you and ignore you completely.
I think she tries to be helpful but I think the problem is she doesn't understand how difficult Microbiology can be. She does give extra credit and she puts the quizzes and exams online to somewhat make things easier. Her tests in class can be hard because her study guides or her lectures aren't specific enough. She's a nice lady though.
Professor is Hauer is one of the best Science professors at Broward College. She is truly passionate and knowledgeable about the subject. You do have to study and put in the work, but this is why you attend college, to learn in order to be successful in your future endeavours. She really wants her students to succeed and she actually cares!
The person that commented below me must of taken a diffrent professor then the one we are talking about. Or, it could be the professor herself commenting. Take prof Levine he is the best
Professor Hauer, is great. Take good notes or her PP are posted online. The subject is tough but she makes it interesting. I would def. take her again.
WARNING. DO NOT TAKE her power points go on for a life time so you dont really know what to study. She gets off topic and takes about herself. She doesn't like students asking questions because it distracts her. Beware of this class trust me
Horrible I will be dropping her class ASAP
Dr. Hauer cares very much about her students and will help you understand the material especially in Lab. I did not take her lecture class but heard good things about it as well. She is very sweet and kind.
I love her! she is one of the nicest and most knowledgeable professors I have ever had. Her tests are hard but she puts some online. She is not too hard but the class itself is, so get ready to study. She has online quizzes too, which help a lot! I highly recommend her. do not yell out in class while she lectures, it throws her off
I need someone who already take prof Hauer to tell me what to do. My GPA will be messed up either way! But I think I have a chance to withdraw which I don't wanna do. Paid out of packet. She is s boring I am in the class rn thinking what to do. Now, I am at 66% overall & I have a few tests left. So what do I do. I really wanna know. Helpppppo
She is one of the best professors I have ever had. very knowledgeable, caring, and respected. She does not like to be interrupted and functions better one-on-one. She gets overwhelmed very easily Worth it!!
The summer course is very short. Therefore, it was very intense and took a lot of time and effort in order to be even slightly prepared. But Prof. Hauer was more than fair to every student in the class. She went out of her way to help people succeed. The people that write neg. are typically the ones that want everything handed to them. Loved it!
i took her for microbiology and biology 1. she is awesome. she knows her stuff. she puts all quizzes online and 1-2 of 4 tests online. the final is online!!! study study study but getting a B shouldn't be hard. she gives extra credit. attendance can help you if you need a few extra points to bump up a letter grade
She is one of the best if not the best micro professors. She will stay and help you understand concepts. Her exams are a bit tricky but she gives lots of extra credit.
Shes great! Shes very good at lecturing and she does a review after each chapter in class, she also posts lecture outlines, study guides, and other helpful information online. You DO have to read for this class but if youre a visual person, shell provide in her syllabus the books website for videos. Loved her.
Professor Hauer knows her micro biology very well. She has good lectures (except for a couple boring ones). She tells stories and gives you pointers as to what will be on her test. You don't need the book. Just take really good notes and study PPs!! Some of her tests will be online. You have to study hard but if you do you can get an A/B.
Such a sweetheart! Gives good lectures, outlines, PowerPoints, practice worksheets, example problems, reviews. She really wants you to pass. 1/2 the tests were online and she gave lots of extra credit. Theres one research paper on whatever you want and shes not a tough grader at all. She gives all the tools you need to pass, just pay attention!
This is the first time I have ever withdrawn (I did so from both her lecture and lab). This instructor is "intentionally complex" (her words) and EXTREMELY disrespectful to students. I created a ratemyprofessors account because of this bizzare experience. I have a 4.0 that I have worked hard for and I won't chance it with her "style" of teaching.
Micro isn't an easy class but this professor gives a lot of extra credit opportunities. Powerpoint, videos that will complement the classes. If you study you will pass, don't expect it to be easy is MICRO. Half of the tests are online that will help with grades, she gives you plenty of time to complete them.
Prof. Hauer is a very nice person. You can tell she wants us to learn and be as excited about microbiology as she is. Shes very smart. She wants everyone to pass. The class did require some work but its a complicated subject and I think she really made it as easy as she could and gave a very fair opportunity to do well. The semester flew by.
I had professor Hauer for lecture and lab and all I can say is that shes an excellent teacher. I also had her for intro to BIO previous to this. Pay attention in class, use the textbooks online practice quizes, and most importantly write down the review questions that she does in class before the test. She has a motherly energy. Love her
She is amazing! Study hard and you will do well! She gives reviews and her exams are not hard! She loves mirco and she is very knowledgeable! She cares alot about her students
she is very scatter brained, but you will not find an easier professor. you have a lab every week and shell give you a quiz on the lab the week before. obviously no tests (its a lab). she wants everyone to participate in the lab so if youre not doing something shell threaten to drop points (she never does)
awful, awful professor. her lectures make you want to sleep and she is very DISRESPECTFUL towards several students. I would stay away
I love Professor Hauer! Microbiology is tough and she makes it easier to understand. I had to really study because the content is a lot but she wants all of her students to do well! Very smart and educated professor who has such a good heart! I would absolutely take her again!! People who say otherwise, just wanted to have a grade handed to them.
Dont recommend her at all. Has a problem with any little noise in class including: the door, a sneeze, a cough, a tap, anything. And she will call you out if you make any of those sounds. She is not fair to all students, and doesnt even try to hear you out if there is an issue.
Terrible TERRIBLE !!!!!!!!! She is rude , and confusing . I have never had a class that i did not know what was going on smh please do not take her . She is all over the place and gets mad when you ask for help. SHE THINKS YOU ARE A PRO AT MICROBIOLOGY
I am not a lazy student, I have done everything to try to pass this class. Ive read everything shes offered such as the book, powerpoints and study guides. Her tests have questions that I have proven arent even on any notes. She treats the class like a 4th grade class and does not know how to really lecture. Only take her if you have a 300 IQ.
Too me I had a good experience she's a little corky but shes very passionate made me understand a lot. She gives extra credit and it's like any other lab you have to study and do the labs i took her both in class and during the pandemic for lecture and lab. the quizzes were easy each one had like 3-4 questions and you have a bunch of them.
She definitely wants her students to pass. Make sure to take notes during lecture and ask questions after class because you don't want to cut the lecture short, you need all the information she's going to give you. She's very accessible if you have a question outside of the classroom. Powerpoint and tests are the same just take time to study.
Just awful. Took her a few years ago. We hardly used the book. She doesn't respect her students and even targeted me in class. Just disgusting. I would not recommend. Only took her course because it was a requirement.
She makes errors on her quizzes that you need to look out for and she won't acknowledge, or makes inconsequential differences in answer choices (one answer was "volume in mL" rather than "volume") which makes it difficult to do well on her quizzes for the wrong reasons. I never listened to lectures and did fine, the online labs are fairly easy.
Honestly shes the best microbiology professor by far. I took her class online and got a 95 in the class. She gives so much extra credit. Theres no reason anyone should do bad in this class. Its straight forward. Tests are open book. Micro is hard but she made it fairly simple. Def take her. You wont regret it. Shes the best!!!
I took professor Hauer to microbiology lab, this was my second time retaking the class. This was a remote online class due to covid she made the class super easy to understand her lab/lecture was very easy and straight to the point. She gives a study guide before the exam their I no way you can fail the class if you pay attention in class.
I am an A student and I had a terrible experience with her. She prepared a test where all the pages were backwards. Because of it I missed an entire page of questions. I was discussing test w a friend and realized, but she would not let me come complete it. I heard in lab other students in next class missed the same page & she ran & told them.
Do not take this professor unless you have no other choice. Her lectures are nothing short of useless and arent even related to the tests. Sometimes she will keep students for an extra 15-20 minutes after class just to continue giving out unhelpful notes. Also, she is quite rude. Goes berserk on people who walk in without a mask in her class.
Stay away from this professor if you can. Her lectures and notes are useless since half of them arent even on the tests that she gives you, all of them at least 50 questions long or more. She can have a bit of an attitude when her demands are not met and and expects you to go through with her methods. Because of her, I have to retake this course.
I took her in the summer shes a good teacher and she wants everyone to pass. Just do the work and study for test and youll get an A or B.
she is an excellent professor. Take it you wont regret it !
I took a 6 week course, so there was A LOT of coursework each week. The quizzes were not proctored, so that's where I found most of my study material. I would recommend doing the textbook notes rather than the interactive notes as it bettered prepared me for the exams. Easy class but she is not very responsive with emails.
This class was an easy class but you obviously have to put the work in. She provides study guides for her exams and her quizzes are fairly easy. make time to read the textbook before going to the lecture class just so that it is easier for you to understand. the assignments are very easy, as well as the research presentation given. I recommend her.
Professor Hauer was great . She works closely with her students and wants you to succeed. The course material was manageable and straightforward. Attendance is mandatory and counts for a grade, however, she is flexible. Communication is key. If you attend class and complete your coursework you will pass. 10/10
Professor Hauer wants everyone to pass, but her class requires consistent effort. Study the textbook and PowerPoints, and use resources like Unstuck ai to prepare for exams. Attend all lectures - she doesn't tolerate distractions. With hard work, you can succeed in this class.
I wouldn't take this teacher again she was so unhelpful when asking for it . she dropped a grade when it wasn't in the syllabus that could have given me a better grade and was very rude when I tried to discuss with her.
She is a great professor. She wants her students to learn. She wants you to be prepared for each class. Read ahead!! Do not go to class unprepared. She does get frustrated when you do not do the reading or come to class and notbinow what to do. There were times were communication was not effective and condescending, but came from lack of preparing
This class has, by far, the most difficult exams I have ever had. Even though you can use notes (and my notes are 1A), this was impossible. The tests were probably found in the Roswell UFO... absolutely impossible. Questions taken from some very obscure, ultraspecific topics, with options that are virtually identical to the 3 others. I would avoid.
Coming into this course with no microbiology background was challenging, but the professor made it manageable. It required focus & studying. Virtual labs in Connect were helpful & counted toward the grade. Clear grading, organized structure, open-note exams, Kahoot reviews, & engaging assignments made learning enjoyable for me. Great professor!
