Great teacher. One thing for sure, you have to attend her classes. Her tests aren't all that hard, most of the questions come from the quizzes you take, the website she gives you, or your textbook. It sucks that she gives a quiz every class but it's reward you get at the end. I would recommend this teacher greatly for non-science majors like me.

Hers is not a particularly easy class but she makes an effort to help students understand the material. If you study, you CAN make an A. One should expect to do WORK for a college class, anyway. She also appears to be on top of things (grading, etc.) A bit of a challenge but a very good teacher.

She is awesome!!! Take her for LAB/LEC if you can. Talks fast/full of energy makes LAB fun/understandable. The quizzes every week are cake you just have read if you dont then dont expect to do well effort in equals results in a BIOL class I got an A but not without some effort. You have to go or you will get to behind. Again great Prof!

Great Teacher...its a hard subject but she teaches it very well...just as long as you do the work. By far the best teacher I've had. She is very understandable and makes you feel very comfortable asking questions. Must take her!

She is a very fair teacher...anyone who thinks she is unfair must be a lazy and not doing your work to say she is hard...it is hard but its worth working for it because in the end you really learn BIOLOGY...she really makes you soak up the material.

I took this over the summer so it was accelerated and that made it a bit harder for me, but her teaching is extremly helpful and I left learning something everyday. She gives all the resources to do well in her class and the lab associated isn't hard at all as long as your committed! I did work to do well in this class but it was well worth it.

GCAT...LOL..once u take her u will know what that means...She is a great teacher and she will make learning this hard subject easier and may even b fun.Use the website/CD that comes with your book.It helps alot!I got a B and I wasn't the least bit interested in the course nor did I study the way I should have. She is a great teacher and easy to understand. I took her in the summer it was hard but if you put the effort in you will do good in her class. She does a great job teaching this hard material and gives you a lot of sources to help you pass the class. Remember though there is only so much she can do you have to study and pay attention in class

Very tough professor. The thing you have to memorize are INSANE! I studied for HOURS and still did not pass. I would recommend this class to someone without children, job or a life. I will be re-taking this class and def will be using another professor! Her tests are EXTREMELY hard!!! Good luck.

Professor Miller is a great teacher. She explains things in a way that you don't easily forget. She definitely holds your interest. You attend class, pay attention, participate and you will do well. I pulled a B+ in summer class. I am not in Anatomy and glad I had her!!!!

Prof Miller is really into biology. She focuses on the big concepts and not the little details. There is some memorization. Be prepared to study. I would recommend this class to anyone because she is willing to help you succeed. I'm a mother and I work and am still pulling an A in her class.

A bit dissapointed with this professor. Did not receive near enough credit for the amount of work put in. I love science... Participated 110% during class, had perfect attendance, and did well on assign/quizzes (plus extra credit) only to obtain a B-. I took Biol 1406 through a different prof & received a D. I retook it & received a B. She was helpful, used personal references to relay concepts & she was always willing to clarify. The online work will be useful for QUIZZES. The RESPONSE PAPERS allow you to see the application of biology. The BOOK isnt used much at all (print PWPTS).Loved her!!

I love this teacher. She is great at what she does and puts in the effort to make sure you do well. She is tough, but any good student can get a high grade. She teaches in a way that I remember the material even AFTER the tests. She is very consistent and I highly recommend her!!!

Very enthusiastic teacher that explains this boring biology very well. She is very helpful but the exams can be very difficult because of the material. Had to do a service learning project which was inconvenient, but for a longer project the grade can replace an exam grade.

She is a challenging professor, although she is likeable. She lectures a ton of information very fast so it's hard to retain it all. You will definatley have to to a ton of studying outside of class. Her tests were very difficult even though she does give study reviews that consist of about 150 questions. Other assignments are easy though.

Absolutely LOVED Prof Miller!! B/c of her, I changed back to being a pre-med major. She loves biology and teaches her students as clearly as she can. She does talk fast, but pay attention in lecture and take notes, there's no reason you shouldn't make an A. Study for tests and quizzes, do the response papers, and you'll be fine. Professor Miller is awesome! She makes biology so much easier to uderstand and is very helpful and willing to help you make an A. She provides tons of examples and will spend time with you to be sure you understand the lectures. Shes really funny too. As long as you are willing to spend the time doing some studying you can ace this class with her.

Professor Miller is my favorite prefessor so far! She gives you her lecture notes online and tells you what to study for the test. The only way you can fail is if you cheat or if you truly do not pay attention in class and refuse to do the homework which really in not very hard. She truly wants all of her students to get an A

Plan on working for your grade, but she is more than willing to help. This will be the best teacher to take if you are doing anything with biology or the medical field. repeats her self a lot in a good way to make sure you know the information.

She's great, biology is not easy so don't expect to get an A just by looking at the content, she'll help you as much as you wanna help yourself, allows you to record the lectures and gives great examples of how cells work. The best teacher I've ever had, won't just give you the grade but will give you extra credit opportunities.

Prof. Miller is a great educator. Passionate, caring, and has a clear grading criteria. If you participate in class, and study the powerpoints, and are able to think criticially you will make the grade you work for in this class. I currently have about a 98% in the class with a month left of class. If you put in the work you will make the grade.

Professor Miller is excellent at being prepared and respecting students contributions. High energy during lectures, loved her in-depth discussions. She comes to class prepared to help students understand biology. Tests are hard, gives lots of extra credit. Her comments about being "tricky" should be interpreted as encouragement for deeper learning.

Best method for learning in this class was to use phone to record lectures as she is bouncy and flies through course material at super sonic speeds! Read your material before class because she has a lot to say/cover and if you get lost (& you will) you'll be lost til the end of class. Work with a study group or have superior memorization skills.

I took her for BIO2-Lab and it was SO much material, it felt like a mad dash the whole time. That was 100% the course, and Professor Miller did absolutely everything conceivably imaginable to help with the challenging course. She even picked flowers and other plants for dissection. Great communicator, all over that e-mail and inviting office hours.

If I could take her for every Science class I would. First, if you are taking any sciences you need to study. That's a given. The way she teaches & explains with real life scenarios makes it easy for you to learn the material. It is a lot of material like every science. I LOVE HER! To pass you do have to KNOW the material. I LOVE SCIENCE BC OF HER!

Professor Miller was clear at the beginning of the course that this was going to be a hard class. She gave great lectures and plenty of practice so that way i felt prepared for tests. Although she is a tough grader she was also very understanding. I plan on taking her again!

Overall I had a really positive experience in this class. To give you an idea of how easy the course was, I was taking 18 hours this semester and could spend every moment outside of class watching a T.V. show, gaming, or working out. Other than her MasteringBiology homework which is due weekly, there is very little you have to do. Also, lots of EC!

Such a great professor! I didn't care for biology but was required to take it. Now I absolutely love it! For sure have to study for her tests and pay attention to what she says in lecture. Printing out power points helps so much and just take notes on them. I didn't use the book but maybe one or two times, everything you need to know is in lecture.

Awesome bio professor! This class isn't meant to be super easy, so yes you'll need to show up and study hard for tests, however, Professor Miller's teaching style makes all the difference. She is outgoing, transparent about her expectations, and explains material in a number of different ways. It's hard work, but Miller makes you want to do well.

She is what students expect in a professor. Passion for the subject. Makes the material relatable. I signed up for her lab for 1407. Clearly sets expectations. Not a "gimme" "A" but an achievable "A" if you pay attention, take notes, ask questions, and participate.

She is very straightforward and to the point with information. Very good at explaining things and making sure you understand. The quizzes sometimes test on things we didn't learn. Beware of the group projects and lab reports. The practicals were very easy if you studied. Little homework. She tries to be make the class more fun with humor.

Professor Miller tells you at the start of the semester that this class will require more time. That being said, take advantage of the Life Happens assignments. Study for quizzes and tests and spend a little time reviewing after every class and you should be ok. See her in her office hours if you arent getting something or need help!

Biology 1407 is extremely difficult , with a substantial amount of lab material. Doctor miller does an excellent job in not only helping you learn the entire material, but also prepare you for the lab practicals. Pay attention, and take notes.

Awesome lab professor. 1407 lab is a lot of information but she provides minimum requirement sheets that have everything you need to know, I only studied those for practicals and did very well. Also a very enthusiastic professor which I really appreciated. Very nice and I highly recommend her.

Professor Miller is outstanding! Her lab is the best science lab I've ever taken. There is a lot of memorization, dissections etc. for this class, but she's really forthcoming about recording/using your phone to take pictures or videos in class. There's 3 practicals in total and a quiz every week. I recommend seeing her in her office hours for a A+

If you are a hard working student and a new student as I was, take her. She appreciates your hard work. Stick with the PowerPoint and study before you do life happen. Finish all of the homework time ahead, you will get high scores. Dont forget to stop by her office if you need help. She will tell you which ones are important. There is no confused.

I was taking Whaley for lab and fell so incredibly behind that I went with a few people from my class to multiple review sessions of Millers. She caught us up to speed (as much as she could) and gave us the PowerPoints from her class. She quizzed us & gave us tricks to remember everything. She showed us kindness when our own prof wouldnt.

Professor Miller gives excellent lectures. She explains everything down to its core and makes sure that you not only remember the material but that you learn it well. I give this class a level 4 of difficulty because its a lot of material in a short amount of time. If you want to pass her bio class with an A, you must pay attention. 10/10 recommend

Crazy amount of information to learn, get ready to devote any free time to this class! A TON of homework, papers and studying required for her course. I only took her for lecture and it really helped me in the lab portion. I usually was the only one who was ahead and understood the lab before we started, because of Prof. Miller.

Honestly, either which professor you pick. Biology is hard, it's a hell of a lot of information, and it can only be explained in a minimum amount of ways. Professor Miller loves biology. she honestly teaches very fast only because she loves the subject. she does do a lot of visual lectures to help with understanding things more as well.

Theres also 2 mini papers, 4 group assignments, about 4-5 quizzes, and 4 total exams. Show up to lecture, read the book & study decent grade (A-B).

She's hilarious. You can tell that she loves what she does. Show up for class because she uses stories, mnemonics, and acting to help us learn the topic. She responds to emails and has office hours if you need help. Be prepared to read the textbook or online resources.

The course is structured very well. Professor Miller has a set number of activities to complete each week (homework, discussion posts etc), but you can complete them anytime before the due date. All of the answers are available in the provided materials. You have to do your work, but she wants you to succeed. This was a really nice online class

I took BIOL-1407 lab with Prof. Miller and while it is a content-heavy class, she did an excellent job of supporting our learning and success throughout lab. She made the class as easy as possible and gave us a chance to speak up about any possible improvements. Does an excellent job of breaking down difficult concepts, I highly recommend her.

Professor Miller is super caring and funny! She does a really good job at simplifying difficult terms and helps you fully grasp the concepts. The only con is the immense amount of material and time you need to spend studying which is what puts most people off. If you actually want to learn and have time in your schedule to study, it's worth it.

I took both lecture and lab with Professor Miller in Fall 2022. There are many materials to memorize. However, professor Miller does give amazing lectures and detailed study guides. If you study hard and go to her office hours, you will learn so much from the class! However, Professor Miller does not round up 89.9, so do well on all tests

I took both lecture and lab with professor Miller, and while the course is definitely more rigorous than 1406, professor Miller makes succeeding in this course easily achievable. Her lectures are absolutely amazing, and she is very talented when it comes to explaining biology concepts. Be ready to spend more time studying and memorizing than 1406.

This lab contains so much material, but I think that Professor Miller did a great job. She was always approachable with any questions, was great at mini lectures, and gave great feedback. Class contained: quizzes most weeks, 3 practicals, online pre lab quizzes, and 3 lab reports. It is possible to do well, it just takes a lot of time and effort.

She includes lots of background info and stories to connect to the topics in her lectures making it easy to pay attention and recall what we learned.

I really enjoyed Professor Millers' class; she made the material easy to understand. Attendance is not mandatory, but I would definitely treat it that way, she covers lots of material in one class. I took my class in person, and based on the reviews for her online class, I would definitely recommend doing in person if you are able to.

I took her class in person, and it was great. Her lectures are memorable and she is always available to help and accommodating. It was a lot of information, but I feel like the class was easy because of her. She prepares you well for tests, but you have to come to class. I didn't read anything and passed with a good grade.

She's the best. Her lectures are amazing, she explains everything in ways that you can understand and relate to real life which makes learning a lot easier. The slides she prepares for class and also has available in canvas are exactly what is on the exams and quizzes, wish i could take her for every science course.

Gwen has been a awesome professor this semester. You can tell that she really does love what she teaches. I recommend actively studying and using flashcards because there is a lot of material that is covered in bio 1407. Gwen does a great job at explaining diffucult concepts and making sure you understand what is going to be on quizzes and exams.

I've taken Professor Miller in 1406 and 1407 for a reason! She is so amazing during lecture and its a plus to have her for lab as well! She's very hands on and will always help you out. She goes through the slides during lecture pretty fast but you have access to them outside of class, if I could take her every year I would!

You can tell she has a passion for teaching and biology; she teaches in a way that makes sense, and her lectures are entertaining! It's like she's telling a story, definitely the best prof I've ever had!
