Really fun time and you learn a great deal. One of IUP's best! She makes an 8 AM worth going to, which is no easy task.

Gwen IS one of IUPs best!!! She's the main reason I would reccommend IUP's poli-sci and/or pre-law program to anyone. As someone else mentioned, a terrific role model. In the short time I've been here, she's accomplished so much. Don't ever change Gwen!

The most tremendous professor I have ever had, Gwen Torges has affected positive change in the lives of more students than she can ever count. She is the star of IUP's Political Science Department.

I came to her class like 7 times and still got an A. I've never had a class easier then hers.

Her Webct skills need some serious updating. The tests weren't based on the text at all. I had an old book from the previous semester and that is what it was based on. So I wasted $75 on buying a book that I didn't even use. She seemed nice though

she's the best. more than a prof she is a friend. if you want to really learn about con law and judicial processs, she is the prof to go to. i would recommend poli sci prelaw to anyone because of her.

Amazing prof. She both knows and loves poli sci and will make you feel the same way. The work load is minimal but you learn plenty. Class is entertaining and you'll leave with a better understanding of current events. Take any/all of her classes!

Gwen is an amazing professor, as well as advisor and friend. She's very funny and is willing to help you whenever she can. She is definitely one of IUP's best professors.

this is supposed to be writing intensive. All the work WILL be due at the end of the semester. nothing is due during the semester. Go to class, discussions are interesting. Talk about current events in law and courts the whole time. Nice and funny lady..

Just be ready to teach yourself all semester. You don't do anything in class. Everything is due at the end of the semester. Even if you don't do some of the assigned work you can still manage to pull of an 'A'. Just get her to remember your name.

I was almost disapointed to have to take this class. I didn't like politics AT ALL! Dr. T made it so interesting, I can't waite to take another one of her classes. She has a way of getting you to think about all the boring stuff in a different light.

Judical process, took the same class as a junior in high school, no lie. The WebCT exams are a joke, you do not learn much in class or from the text, which isn't that great.

What a piece of cake. Sure, she says papers are due like 2 weeks into the semester but then she makes them due the day before grades are in. If you can't Ace her tests then you are an idiot....all on-line and tons of bonus points. Plus she offers an awesome trip to DC

Dr. Torges is great. Her classes are fun and interesting. She will do anything to help her students and knows her field inside and out. She is an asset to IUP. Every student should take one of her classes if they have the chance.

Probably the best class i've had on comparative government. Dr. Torges is the only professor who can make complex issues like con law easily understood.

If you are taking these classes simply because they are easy than you should pack up and leave college immediately since you do not belong here.I tried to learn but only got dumber from listening to the ridiculous comments coming from the undergrads mouths. Try listening more, you might learn something.90% of the students were as dumb as my desk.

Gwen is too awesome for words. She's young and hip, and tons of fun. She single-handedly convinced me to double major in Political Science. Take her, because you will LOVE her!

Dr. Torges is a wonderful person and a FANTASTIC professor. you will learn a lot, and she encourages open discourse in class. all the tests are WebCt and the essays aren't easy, but they're not overly hard either. this class is laid back and a lot of fun!

Dr. Torges is awesome. The class itself is very easy, attendance is not mandatory (but its a fun class so you tend to go anyways), and she is very lenient on due dates.

Dr. Torges is the best prof at IUP!!!! Her class is fun, interesting and really easy. She's easy on quizzes, doesn't really have a set date for when assignments are due. She's funny as hell and at the same time you're actually learning. I'd take her for everything, if that happened i'd get a 4.0!

She knows her stuff. She is extremely helpful and extremely nice. You won't use the book. She made you actually want to go to class even though class wasn't mandatory.

Gwen Torges is the type of professor who makes class a joy. She is well informed, friendly, and truly loves teaching. If more professors were like her, nobody would EVER skip class. I took her for every class she taught, and each one was amazing. She is also my advisor, and is the most knowledgeable person I have met on this campus. Take her!

I can't believe there is a person on this campus with one bad thing to say about Gwen. She's hilarious, brilliant, warm to her students, and genuinely loves to teach. She is passionate in her persuits, and will make class so much fun. If she is your advisor, you will worship her. She makes an entire packet for you on scheduling. Take her!!!

Great teacher! Def take her. Only problem was the text book was expensive, and def was not worth buying. Class is always fun, and you will learn a lot!

Dr. Torges made me want to change my minor to political science. she keeps students interested and you will learn a lot in her class. her humor will make you want to go to class and she is def worth taking. Do not buy the book though, its around $100 and rarely used it, use law websites for free instead.

Had her for two classes at once and loved each and every moment of them. She's a hilarious professor that makes you want to keep coming back to class for more. Gwen Torges is awesome! i am not into politics at all, but she was an awesome prof. she is very nice and understanding. she is rly funny and you do get a lot out of the class. sometimes the lecture was dry b/c of my lack of interest in the sub but overall i was rly glad to take the class..its an easy A ..attendence isnt required and u rly dnt need the textbook..take her!

Dr. Torges is one of the best professors here. She is awesome. Class was very boring though. Attendance is NOT mandatory which was great for a 905 class. Tests are kinda difficult but always curves. Only one project which is really easy. Received a "B" and never went to class! She's awesome.

She is a nice teacher and knows what she is talking about. Kind of boring lectures so its sometimes hard to focus. BUT!! EASY! Attendance is not mandatory and I have missed my fair share or classes..I still have an A! The study guides she gives before a test are helpful. If you take the time to do them, then there is the test right there, easy A!!

Class is boring hard to stay up when its a *am class. Was willing to help you whenever you needed help. Did not take roll which was great. Test are a little hard as long as you try you will be ok.

One of the best profs. Lots of interesting (often hilarious) discussion that is also educational. not boring AT ALL. best thing is that she is "not a deadline person." so if something happens, she won't ruin you for turning something in late.

Dr. Torges is a very good professor, but she is an even better advisor. When you need help with any concerns, she will go out of her way to help you. Her classes cover pretty iteresting matieral. The skills learned will help you out in law school. She uses the socratic method in class disscusion which makes the class fun, yet very informitve.

Passionate in the material she lectures on, papers are somewhat challenging, but you'll get the hang of it. Plus her two quiz's are very easy and she's willing to help if you get stuck.

Dr. Torges is a nice, fun lady & assignments are easy. A few quizzes but study a little the night before & you'll get at least a B. Attendance is not mandatory, theres probably 30-40 kids in my class & 10 show up on a regular. Haven't looked at the book at all, grading guidelines are clear & easy. Loves students, doesn't take herself too seriously

Best proffesor you can take in IUP if you are a political science major. Her classes are not difficult and if you attend some of her classes and read the book then you'll do fine in all her classes not just PLCS250.

She is easily my favorite professor at IUP so far and makes sure you understand things before moving forward. You do need to participate in class though.

She is a good teacher. Just talk to her and you'll receieve a good grade. Also don't have to show up to class.

She is amazing, she does not give you any work and if it is work its something that will not take a long time. You will have to do case studies but she makes everything clear and gives you a template! She is not a tough grader at all, easy A.

There was only 3 assignments the whole semester along with 5 exams that were pretty easy. Just show up to class and you'll be pretty good.

this class was at 8am but it was always fun because of dr torges. she's really cool and is very knowledgeable about the subject. she made some really funny jokes throughout the course.

Dr. Torges is a great professor and fantastic advisor. A real gem in the department. She's more than happy to discuss any matter that pertains to the law and the constitution while leaving out political bias (something that I imagine is very hard to do). Overall excellent professor, take her if you can.

Dr. Torges is an amazing profesor. She is extremely knowledgeable and the class was fascinating. The exams are really easy as long as you fill out the study guide and read the text. The writing assignments are also easy with a clear critea. Highly recommend taking a class with her if you can!

BEST PROFESSOR EVER TAKEN! Struggling? She'll help you to the moon and back. Not engaged? Ask her after class and she'll frame it differently. Have a question? Her door is always open. If you have the chance to take Dr. Torges DO IT! It may be a bit bland at times but she makes up with it through doughnuts, music, and good vibes. A+++ Professor!

Dr. Torges is a gem for sexuality and law. The class is based on reading reflections and various oral argument assessments. If you need more time for an assignment, she will be accommodating every time and will help you in any way possible. One of the best professors I have ever taken and would always recommend her for a political science course.

Public Policy is a really great class with Dr. Torges. I really enjoyed it and learned a lot from her lectures. The book used is not a page-turner, but it really is not essential to the understanding of the class. She let us use notes on quizzes and was overall really easy. The final project also is super simple as Dr. Torges will work with you.

Dr. Torges actually saved my life this semester. She was so caring about the issues going on in my personal life and I have never had another prof who was as understanding as her. She's simply the best. I wish I could take her again. Class itself is super easy and so are the assignments. Just do the work and you'll be fine.

A very smart, caring, and helpful woman. Morning lectures are usually rough which is my only real complaint since she's the only one in the department that wants to teach 8 AMs, so you'll have to be ready for that. She respects every side of the political spectrum, so don't be afraid to speak your mind! She guides you to think critically as well.

Dr. Torges knows what she is talking about in this course. Constitutional Law is her specialty so her passion for teaching is seen in this class. The only downside is the course time itself. It was 8:00 am when I took it. If you have the chance to take this course, do so! If it is offered at a later time, take it without a question.

I loved when I had Dr. Torges, I only had her for a writing intensive requirement. Assignments were easy and very limited. Lectures may be boring, but it will go fast if you participate.

Dr. Torges is a wonderful professor, and especially helpful in my freshman year. She is very laid back, but obviously is well-informed on Constitutional history. As a history major, she has personally inspired me to do more research on American legal history. Her class is very easy, and a great introduction to the foundations of government.
