Professor Whigham was wonderful. I took her evening once a week Nutrition class. She was clear, answered questions, provided extra credit and genuinely cares about teaching. I would definitely take her class again. Best teacher I have had at HCC so far!
She is really great. She always tries to help students understand and remember all the terms right in class. Although the tests are long (100 multiple-choices questionseach), she usually makes them the open tests, so they are getting easier. Her lab tests are pretty easy. She also provides chances for students to get extra credits. A is possible!!
Professor Smith Whigham is awesome. If you ask for help, she will do anything to help you. Lots of long tests but she drops the 2 lowest scores, offers 2 open book tests and offers extra credit. Lectures are long and you need to do work on your end to secure an A but she is great.
Amazing teacher! You will never have to worry about waiting to get grades for an assignment! You can stay 30 minutes after the test and she'll have the scantrons graded and inserted in the online gradebook. Get the binder book for this course. It helps so you have room for notes and it makes highlighting easier. Pay attention and you'll prosper!
The most amazing teachers to take for A&P. She is so sweet and caring you can feel she cares about her students just how she teaches them. She has open book test that will help you with at least 2 of her test. She doesn't mind if you need extra helps she helps without any hesitating. She also grades your test and gives your grade the same day.
Dr. Gwendolyn Smith Whigham is an Amazing teacher I have ever had! She gives your results 10 minutes after the test. She is so sweet and caring. She has open book test that will help you with at least 3 of her test. And also she will drop one of the lowest grades! take her you won't regret. Very EASY class take it if you are not trying to learn anything just pass with a good grade. She reads straight from the power points, doesn't matter if you show up for class as long as you take her exams which two of them are open book. Gives plenty of extra credit to pass.
She reads straight from PowerPoints and goes too fast. Sometimes she gets her words mixed up and isnt clear.
She takes an important subject like nutrition and makes it as hard and as boring as possible. Reads prepared power points and stutters through each sentence. Does not seem to have the knowledge or capacity to explain anything. Highly advise not to take, for this class or any other.
Labs are done independently and lab reports are a MUST. She will NOT allow you to turn in lab reports late. Before each exam, she has a set of students present a chapter review and assign a quiz (5-10 questions). The exam is incredibly easy, no reason to score less than 80%. You will need a stack of scantrons (for quizzes and exams).

I took her for A&P2 lab and it sucked bc she wasn't so involved with us students we had to do everything on our own she didn't do much hands on lab with us. We also had to google everything to be able to fill in our lab. she does NOT GIVE ANY STUDY GUIDE/ REVIEWS which sucked. her exam can be hard and are true& false only. DO NOT TAKE HER.
She will not take lab books late. Must show up for class. Lab work is done independently. She repeats herself a lot. Doesn't participate in lab sessions. Lab work is with class or solo. Not a lot of professor involvement.
EXTREMELY LAZY no professor engagements, no actual labs only paper assignments. Dont try to turn in your lab book 5 seconds after everyonel has turned them in shell consider that late. Test are True or False based
Dr. Smith is a very sweet lovely professor to have, she lectures fast but is very effective. I recommend to answer your lab questions as she lectures its very helpful. Always turn in your labs and be ready to do presentations.
good prof, helps students with remembering the anatomy of the body and gives the class a chance to learn hands-on but she did not inform the class of the strict fill-in-the-blank test which left the whole class unprepared (usually multiple choice); there was no partial credit available for correct words with the wrong spelling, so i lost my A.
took her for lab and lecture. just a lazy professor. not very forgiving. shes easy if you teach yourself. tests are stupid. if u want a more independent based class, shes your go to. id only go back because i know how she is. overall a nice lady, but even her lecture final messed everyone up and dropped me to a 79. yeah. she wont help.

She is very deceiving. she looks very nice but she is not. she kinda follows her syllabus, lacks communication skills to inform the class what time exams will begin. randomly decides when labs are to be turned in(sometimes turned in after she lectured or due at beginning of class) I heard her lecture is bad too. She doesn't give reviews.
Prof. seems like a nice lady, but was really inconsiderate last sem by telling us to prepare for a multiple choice final (usual), then giving a totally unorganized exam, leaving us unprepared&flustered. Highest grade was a 64!! W/ NO CURVE. She reads off her power points, & other days we don't do anything. I hope she changes for her future classes.

Dr. Smith-Whigham is a nice professor. Gave an open book test. Dropped one of three exams in Lecture and Lab . Review of chapters by class presentations. Did not take lab books late. Teaches from power point in Lecture . Lectured/Reviewed each chapter in lab. Lecture final was departmental. Lab final covered only the last chapters. Great Professor!
She is approachable and expects you to earn your grade.
Great Professor. She is also very nice and caring. In the lab, after lecturing, she allows you time to work independently or in groups to complete your lab book. She is available to answer questions on an individual basis. In the lecture the slides are available to you and she tries to go over as much material and slides as she can. Great class.
She is passionate about teaching. I suggest you read before going to class. She gives different types of test and is nice but stern.

Professor. Smith is a fantastic professor. She is an extremely knowledgeable professor, like in any other class you need to read, do your homework on time, and study for the exams. Always read or skim through the book before class then go home and read. IF YOU ARE LAZY YOU WONT PASS; BUT IF YOU WORK HARD EASY A !!

If you really want to learn on your own take her. I personally don't like the way she teaches since there is no teacher and student engagement. You'll learn on your own by reading the book. Also. she does NOT provide any reviews at all.

This was a great class!
She wasnt the best professor Ive had but shes okay. This was more of a self-taught class but there were days that were more informational than others! The lab assignments are not that hard, just make sure you turn them in on time. No late work is accepted. The tests are not that hard either (mostly T or F) but she doesnt provide a review.
For a summer class, this is the worst to take. 5 Chapters a week. 4 exams 1 final and more. No exam reviews, well, she gives no reviews at all, period. She is not helpful. You email her and the response is like from a robot. She does not help you at all. This is the worst professor I've ever had. Does not have passion or care for her students.
DO NOT take this Professor. She is terrible. I went into the class with a 4.0, Im graduating this semester. Her tests are incredibly difficult and she doesnt curve AT ALL. I ended with a 89.6 and I got a B! Also, be prepared to do homework and petty assignments because she assigns a TON.
DO NOT TAKE HER IF YOU CAN!She assigns more work than all my other classes combined. The responses to her emails are so condescending and at times she doesn't even answer your question. Her exams have nothing to do with the PPT so you have to read the book. ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE AVOID AT ALL COST! I ended up with an 89.8% but she does not curve/round
She's the worst! Doesn't help at all if you have any questions, her exams are with Lockdown and a Camera and the exam doesn't have to do anything with the Ppts she is giving so you have to read the whoooole book. Waste of time, and money, I had to withdrawal her class instead of getting a lower grade because of her heavy assignments.
took in summer 5 wk. She is great at communication and even encourages you to reach out with any questions. if the question is good she will post it to the discussion board for others to view and learn. lab manual is basic and lab reports are easy, completion grade. tests require lockdown browser but are easy as long as you review the manual
She is a sweet Professor but if you want to be able to do good in her class, always stay ahead of her by reading and taking notes of the book. She lectures fast and reads from powerpoints, she could do better at answering emails quicker. Her test are under lockdown browser and webcam. If you study and stay ahead you should be fine.
The class was well organized. Students are expected to read. Assignments can be turned in early but not late. Exams with Lockdown Browswer and Webcam. Great class.
Do NOT take this professor if you want to get a good grade. Exams are hard and a big part of your grade, and she does not give any reviews for them. She's not understanding at all and good luck trying to get an A if you dont work your butt off. She will not bump up any grades. Homework is fairly easy but a lot.
Only 4 due dates where 1 test and all homework and quizzes were due for chapters 1-5, 6-10, etc, so you can go at your own pace. There are one homework and one quiz for each chapter which helps boost your grade (Quizlet) and she drops your lowest test grade and offers one extra credit added to the test she doesn't drop. STUDY. She is kind and fair.
I feel like the entire semester, she barely taught, or even spoke for that matter. I took her lab class and it was very mundane and slow. The entire class period consisted of us reading our textbooks in silence while she sat at her desk. sometimes she would read us slides from the textbooks, but we never did any things you'd typically do in a lab.
I took A & P Lab ! with Dr. Smith-Whigham and let me tell you, she was wonderful! Her lab was more for the self-sufficient/motivated student. She was there to help but would often let us venture out to work with our peers. Which is what she wanted. Teamwork in her class will get you a high grade and don' give up! She always surprises you in the end
I started this class on Monday as a fast track class and I already have 12 assignments I need to do. 12 quizzes and I have a lockdown test this week as if other classes don't exist in college. I don't know what is currently going through her mind at the moment but she needs to understand that college students have more than one class. Avoid her.
She is truly a gem! She's the sweetest professor ever!!!! I loved her. You will most definitely get an A in the class. Like someone else said, she surprises you ;) TAKE HER IF YOU WANT AN A.
The first week, there are at least 15, long and dreadful assignments, quizzes, and exams due on a Saturday night. The heaviest workload Ive ever seen. Im talking 9 hour days of pure frustration. This will only work if this is your only class for the semester, because its not hard. Just an overwhelming load and she will not adjust. Had to drop.
Took this nutrition class as a pre-requisite for nursing. She gives around 17 chapters and EACH chapter has a smart book assignment, diet case analysis, 1 or 2 extra analysis assignments and a quiz. It is so tedious and time consuming. I don't think this professor realizes we have other courses to take too. Some of us work full time & school.
I took this course in person yet everything was online. No teaching, all self-taught, and she does not care if you pass or fail. She does not follow her own policies within her syllabus which led me to have a C in her class even though I should have an A. Easy class if only she followed her policies. Her grading is not calculated correctly!
DO*NOT*TAKE*THIS*CLASS You have been warned. Don't bc Nutrition is easy, or fun, bc you think you will be fine. 13 chapters= smartbook-1.5 hour+,homework, diet analysis, quiz, test (LDBwC). Q and T have NOTHING do with anything on SB and HW, even if you copied direct notes or were to use the book itself. No review, no guide. just dont do it.
Get ready to read! Lots of homework for multiple chapters at once. Took me about a week to finish each section, barely learned anything. Homework about an hour long. All tests are lockdown browser. This course definitely felt like a race to the finish line if anything.
She shouldn't be allowed to teach. Late to class almost everyday. Lectured on chapters that weren't on the exam. Too many chapters to review for one exam. Half of the class dropped out due to the poor structure. Purposely didn't tell us we would get extra credit if we completed the professor evaluation as she knew the responses would be negative.
You know when you were excited about taking Lab in college, maybe dissecting something or looking at cool things under a microscope? Not in this class! She said feel free to look at anything in the room, do your online assignments, let me know if you need anything. She just sat at her desk, on her computer. She never even lectured. What a waste!
Very sweet professor she's tough the first few days but offers lots of extra credit in the end. The exams are made by the department not her so there's no review you literally just have to know everything and study hard. Exams are multiple choice, attendance is not mandatory she engages each class period and lectures.
DO NOT take this professor!! She crams chapters together and barely gives you a chance to study, I.E Chapters 1-5 had to completed in less than 2 WEEKS!! She doesnt lecture AT ALL! She asks if you have questions and thats all to it. Idc if shes your last option, dont even consider taking her class. She also doesnt give extra credit.
Do not take this professor if you are looking for someone that is student-centered. A lot of assignments per week. The grading scale is set for students to fail and not do well in her class. Exams count for 60% of your grade and the weekly 11-13 assignments 10%. Also, no study review for exams. Support is minimal.
Doesn't lecture in class but has prerecorded lectures. She just sits there until we have questions and if she does lecture she reads off the powerpoints. If you are not a textbook person and rely on lectures for better explanations do not take her class. This class requires a lot of reading and is homework heavy. She doesn't seem to enjoy teaching.
Took online with meeting on Friday. She was very helpful but the help did not matter with the work. There is a disconnect on what her expeditions are compared to what to expect in her class b/c not everyone is the same when it comes to learning. I would not take this class online !!!!

this teacher was by far the worst teacher i've ever taken. doesn't teach one thing, barely even talks to her students. not one person in my class liked her, sadly. if you want a good grade for your lab don't take her, it's a waste of time. she doesn't care about you or your grades trust me. This professor made me feel like I am incompetent of learning. She does not care about helping you learn the material and failed to guide me to understand the lectures. Do not take her because she is not dependable in passing or learning. I felt that I cried for help many times about test grades, and she didn't give an opportunity for extra credit.
Do not take her, I advise you if you want to learn and pass, please take a different professor. She does not show remorse even if most of her class are asking for help, tests are most unreliable on lectures.
Would not recommend this professor I signed up for in person found out EVERYTHING IS ONLINE only reason she is in class is to answer questions. Does not assist or give any guidance clueless of helping students. She teaches online lectures and work is online only. no extra credit offered. This class should be hybrid/online not in person.

Very sweet professor, you do not have to be there everyday. If you study you will pass. I loved her class. Most of her lectures are pre recorded.
Her lab classes are unnecessary in person. She only spends twenty minutes every four weeks briefly introducing each module. She sits in front of her computer and does her thing every class unless you have questions. The class is entirely up to you to learn on your own, and the exam questions are very hard and go far beyond the textbook.

Run & Pray. Instead of having a professor who teaches, you get to watch her 5–6-hour long prerecorded lectures (per chapter) before class. She also makes students present on each chapter to teach the class. I honestly have no idea why she would teach this way, but the tests are open ended, no multiple choice. No extra credit.
Very nice prof who will answer all ur questions. Sub material is very info dense. Every single sentence is imp. & could be on test. Lectures a lot & fast. Gives a TON of resources, I think if I wasn't struggling with my ADHD meds & whatnot, I could've done better. She gives u all the resources u need to do well, u just have to organize ur time.
Whoever said she lectures a lot must have had a different professor. The professor will not teach you at all. You have to watch her prerecorded videos and only then will she answer questions if people ask. Get ready to learn every single word in the 200-300 slides per chapter, you'll need it for the exam as she gives no guide whatsoever.
If you are good at absorbing information very easily/fast and an A student, her class should be a breeze. If you are a slow reader and you have a lot of questions please make sure to take another class. Also, she doesn't teach you are teaching yourself, and she has no extra credit or reviews. No exaggeration, class activity is 99% ungraded quizzes.
