Great professor, alters his teaching methods to better suit the class. He let us vote on what how we wanted the class to to be taught, heavy lecture/note taking, or heavy class discussion and no note taking. He gives 2 take home exams and a 5 point inclass assignment for every class period. Offers 20 pnts xtra credit out of 100 possible points :)

If you're not going to read the book, don't take him because as easy he is on his students, you will need to read the book in order to do the assigned homework and exams.

This dude is AWESOME! I had him for CRM 321 & 332. He's very smart and speaks from experience. Homework assignments are straight out of the book and test are take home. For 321 we had a lot of in class assignments so attendance is a must for this class. CRM 332 there is a 10 page project but you can work with a partner. He's a easy going guy

Very very boring class!! Hard to take notes because he is all over the place with his lectures. But all tests are take home, so getting a decent grade is not hard at all.

He makes the class very interesting, and grades very fairly. We watched videos, listened to interesting lectures, and he talked about his experiences. The content of the learning is pretty negative stuff, but it comes with being a Criminology course. I recommend this course.

He is great! I would definitely recommend him! He makes everything sound really interesting, even when its not. He barely gives any assignments, but he offers A LOT of extra credit!! It is impossible not to pass his class! Also a take home exam that he will give to you 2 weeks before its do. Book is only necessary for the exam.

He's a fantastic teacher, willing to help out his students as much as possible, show up at least 50 percent of the time you will most likely pass. All you have to do is make sure to do the midterm and final which is the hardest part but as long as you pay attention and read the book you'll be fine. lots of extra credit oppertunities though.

He brought a lot to the table on the subject of crime and justice as a formerly incarcerated man. He should be a full-time lecturer for the university. The class structure is very simple -- a midterm and final, media days, and film days. He's understanding about not coming to lecture days also or coming in late. He's very respectable. HIGH rec.

Literally my all around favorite professor. He is always there to help his students and makes class interesting. The way teaches works for everyone and he's an inspiration to all of his students. He's funny and class is never boring. Criminology majors you need to take him if you want an experienced professor who cares.

Professor Wilcox was amazing and I recommend him to anyone. He gives out so much extra credit and his two exams are take him. He is very polite and cares deeply about his students. He looks intimidating but he is very nice and is willing to work with you if you need it.

Hands down the most amazing professor I've ever had. Not only does he teach what the class is about, he relates to what he is teaching. He has amazing stories to go along with it, and anyone who has the chance to take his class should do it.

During most weeks, there is one day of lectures, which you need to take notes during. The other day of the week is usually used for a media discussion or a movie. After every movie, you can write a half a page about it and get extra credit, on the take-home exams you can answer more for extra credit. This was the best teacher I have ever had.

One of the greatest profs I've ever had. Always prepared, encourages comments and discussions from class, makes lectures interesting and is always available to answer ANY questions. Great guy and a great professor. Mid-term and final are papers that you answer different questions based off what you've learned in lecture.

I had Professor Wilcox for Sociology even though he is primarily a criminology professor. He was very easy to talk to and always did his best to make sure that every student was able to follow along in class. Exams are all take home and he grades rather easily. Really cool dude overall and always willing to stay after class to talk.

Wilcox has amazing insight into the criminal justice profession and isn't afraid to incorporate it into his lectures. Lectures are quite informal and class discussion is a big part of it and they get quite interesting. He's incredibly well respected and known in the CJ department. Take him if you get the chance.

He's a nice guy and the class wasn't very hard just come to class, participate, and do two papers. Very clear what was expected. It wasn't theory heavy, so if you want sociological theory like I did, there wasn't much, but that might just be all intro sociology classes. He didn't use canvas, but it's still very simple to stay on top of thing. Great

You dont need to buy the text, its available at the library (he even tells you this, he thinks textbooks are a scam). The most honest and fair teacher Ive ever had. Wilcox is hands down the best CRM prof at EMU. He lectures with slides but gives his own experiences to connect them. Tests are take home and you have many opportunities for extra credit. I had an A before we even got to the final. Show up for his 'story day' and get a true insider perspective of how the criminal justice system works.

He's a chill dude. SO MUCH EXTRA CREDIT. 2 Take-home exams. Took him in fall 2018. I just thought about his class and wanted to give him a nice review. There's no book. I remember there were 4-5 film summaries we had to make. The catch is he wouldn't tell when we'd watch the films so if you missed it, you missed it. So do the extra credit
