He is very good in explaining the step by step process. If you hated calculus in high school, try this teacher. Very clear, very nice, and always on time(on the dot!) to class.
His test are hard. He doesn't really give you enough time to finish your tests.
His test are pretty hard, and sometimes not enough time is given. But overall he is a great teacher. He goes step by step and wants you to learn. He's also just a happy man!
He is very eager to help the students actually learn the material. He invites questions during the lecture and will not move on until everyone understands. If you study and do practice problems, the tests are not hard. He is always on time to the minute!
I had him for both math 119A and 122. Hes the best math teacher i have ever had. He explains evberything in detail till you understand. and all around hes a nice guy. Tests are a bit hard but put in the time for study and you'll have you understand math
He is possibly the best professor I have ever had. He explains everything with great clarity, and MAKES SURE students understand a topic before moving on. His tests are quite hard, but if you do all the homework assigned, they should be no problem. And ask questions, because the will happily help
VERY good teacher. tests are easy as long as you study. he's really helpful in the office, so if you have problems, you should go to his office.
My goodness...it was really really hard....the tests were so hard....and sometimes he would jump aroubnd a little bit....but he was a good teacher...even though the class was hard
he's a very good teacher. i hated calculus in high school, but he does a great job explaining all the steps. he's also real nice, so you shouldn't be scared to ask him questions. just keep up with the assigned homework and you'll do fine in the class.
He is a very kind and helpful professor. The only advice I give to students taking his class is DON'T stay until the last minute to study and do your H.W. I received a B in his class and I am sure that if I didn't procrastinate, I would have received an A with no problem.
Very nice teacher. At first, it was hard to understand him but over time, i got used to it. Great teacher. Both of these classes require time and devotion cuz it is a lot of work. He is willing to help you on hw if you are willing to ask in class. He gives pop quiz every week on activity day.
Goes over everything in class, lots of homework but if you just BS it all you will get most of the points, if you actually do and understand the homework the tests should be pretty easy. P.S incegral == integral
He is a very good teacher he goes over everything you need to know. And if you do bad on the test the next week he will assign another test for extra credit.
Great guy, explains everything if you need help. Don't mess around a lot, and he'll like you to. Study the review problems for his tests. I highly recommend if you actually want to learn the material.
boring material but still a sweet class.
This is the worst teacher I have ever had in my life, CSULB or otherwise. I am surprised that he has such a high rating so far. Maybe he was hard on my class because it was math 010, but if anything that should have made him more helpful to us not less. He never repeated something when we didn't understand.
He's a fear guy. First test was difficult, after that they got easier (he lowered his expectations it seems); he gives students the opportunity to redo problems missed on tests for extra points. All it takes to pass this class is attendance (especailly to labs) and a normal amount of effort.
Wasn't clear at all about what he wanted in this class. When I went for help I asked him about the need to drop the class and he advised I would be fine. When it came to grade time he "screwed" me.
Always gets this little smile while explaning something, which quickly turns to a frown when he realizes nobody in the class is really paying attention.
This is the worst instructor I've ever had. His tests are difficult and long, you'll probably only finish the exam if you know the material back and forth. That is if you have a 50 minute class with him like I did.
eh...
explains that material clearly in class, and will go over it again if you do not understand it. be prepared for quizzes in the activity. tests are around 7 questions with several parts. picks easy examples for the lecture notes, but the hardest questions for the tests. even if you know some of the concepts before you take the course, the tests will still be difficult.
He is indian and very difficult to understand. Tests are like 7 seven questions if that and he picks the most difficult problems for the test. Even if you know the material on you hw, the tests are hard. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS
Hamza is a great teacher and teaches the material quite well. He is very helpful in trying to get you to understand it especially during the Activity. I'm not going to say that this class was easy because I'm one of those people who has a thing for math. Just do your homework amd look over his examples from the lectures and you'll do fine.
Dr. Hamza is very helpful and although he has an accent, its very easy to understand him. If you do your H.W and review his notes, I guarantee that u will get an A in the class.
Very helpful. Easy to understand. As he says, do your homework - Do not get behind no matter how well you do in math!! He is always available and willing to help during office hours. Take advantage of this!
Worst math teacher of all time. You must learn indian before enrolling. dont listen to the other's ratings!! his class sucks! 4 exams, each exam containing 5 or 6 problems. Very hard to get a good grade. doesnt collect hw until test.. allowing room for procrastination. he goes fast!
Hamza is a cool Professor, a little hard to understand, homework is turned in right before you take the test. 4 tests throughout the semester; You will have an average of 8 questions some in 2 - 3 parts and an hour to finish it (which was a small amount of time for me). If you love math you won't have a problem.
DON"T LISTEN TO THE OTHER COMMENTS. HE is very hard to understand. ON top of that he goes through the material very fast with the indian accents. There was four exam through out the semester. Hw was turn in before each exam and they are only worth ten point.
Do your homework without procrastinating, study the example problems from lecture, and you will do fine. He is very straightforward. If you know the material, you will get an A. If you don't, you won't.
OMG DO NOT GET THIS GUY AS A TEACHER!!! ONE OF THE WORST MATH TEACHERS I HAVE EVER HAD!!! NOTHING ABOUT HIS CLASS WAS EASY! HE WAS HARD TO UNDERSTAND AND WENT REALLY FAST AND IT ALL SNOWBALLS FROM THERE! ONLY FOUR TESTS AND THEY ARE ALL REALLLY REALLLY HARD!!! ABSOLUTELY THE WORST! DON'T LISTEN TO THE OTHERS HE IS REALLLLY REALLLY BAD! :( booo bo
DONT EVER TAKE THIS GUY!!!! HE IS SO HARD TO UNDERSTAND WITH HIS ACCENT AND HE IS LEFT HADED AND STANDS INFONT OF THE BOAD SO YOU CAN SEE WHAT HIS IS DOING EVER AND IN MATH YOU HAVE TO FOLLOW ALONG OR AT LEAST UNDERSTAND THE TEACHER IN HIS CASE NEITHER... DONT EVER EVER EVER TAKE HIM!!! I USED TO LIKE MATH... I DONT ANYMORE!!!
He is a good teacher i guess, but all his notes were just from the book. It is really hard to understand him, but he does help you a lot in office hours. If you take his class always do the homework on time because he collects it and its a lot of problems. Also, you have to study for this class a lot, there is only a little partial credit for tests
Avoid this professor if you can. He never goes over the midterm exam questions in class after grading it. No going over quiz problems as well in class. Questionable policies on how to verify illness/injury in the event you cannot attend a midterm. He's a decent person, but poor teaching techniques of not going over tests after everyone almost fail
Hamaza is the worst math proffessor ever. His accent was hard to understand and on top of that his class was boring. There were four test but he never gave out practice questions. JUSt AVOID THIS HIM!!!
Great teacher!!! Show step to step for every examples.....quiz are based on hw. Turn hw in the day of test....overall great teacher!!
He is very helpfull. He cares and tries to make you understand. Do take
He's okay. He did help me a lot when I went to his office hours, but it was still hard for me. He gives homework and it is all due on the day of the exams and he does try to help you raise your grade.
Hard to understand in the beginning but you get used to it. Expect a quiz every other week or every three weeks, he does drop a few. Tests are a bit difficult but if you are in doubt of your grade go to his office hours he is always willing to help and when notices that you care he tends to be helpful to you when grade time comes.
There are no study guides for his test. He is hard and does not go over homework. Do not take him.
very tricky he tricked me... told me i will help you dont drop the class, and then he gives me F grade although i got really good..
Very strict grader. Has a tough accent to follow. Does not clearly go over problems in class, but if you go to his office, he will review problems with you until you get it. I got an A because I knew the material, but if you don't know anything going into this class, you will struggle. Pick someone else if you can.
don't listen to the other comments. i'll explain exactly how his class works. attendance and homework is basically half your grade. the quizzes are like 2 problems and they'll be insanely difficult. exams are about 7-10 problems and they're also difficult. never goes over problems from previous tests. example problems he teach are the easy ones. GL
Killed my love for math. Lectures and example problems are easy, tests are difficult. Quizes are random, so attendance is important. Homework is due the day of the test, and he never goes over it. Hard to comprehend because of his accent, but he tries to crack jokes here and there. Don't take this class at 8 in the morning, you will suffer.
Great teacher!!! i hated math until i took this class and actually started understanding it. He really wants you to well so he helps you out and doesn't speed through the lectures he makes sure everyone understands. If you do all your work its easy to pass his class.
This class was flat out impossible. College Algebra is WAY too low of a prerequisite for his Busisness Calculus class. You have to already know calculus like a language to pass. His tests are horrendous - he knows what the homework is but he insists on testing you with the hardest of the hardest. DO NOT TAKE ANY OF HIS HIS CLASSES!
i loved this teach hes was awesome and easy, i got an A. i took him during the summer her was a great teach and very helpful. oh yeah you will do just fine if you have taken claculus before.
Hamza is an amazing professor. I hate math but thanks to him I actually did well! He is extremely helpful! I aced all my tests and passed the class easily! I loved him so much I made sure I took MAPB 7 with him! The material was impossible but thanks to Hamza I survived and passed! I love the guy! I totally recommend him! Great Guy!
He is SO nice! a little hard to understand, but youll get used to it. Always willing to help and re-explain. The class was super easy, and you can take an early final. Hes acutally really funny sometimes too. Def take him!
goes fast, but is always willing to review. Cute little indian man, accent hard to understand at first. all test are based off review packets, very understanding unless you never go to class. he made the book we used & it was cheap. works till last min of class. Just go to class, take notes, and do the review to study for test & you'll be set!
Quizzes randomly, posts practice exams on Beachboard, no "surprise" questions on the exams (as long as you do your hw), hw due the test day, and mandatory attendance (you're supposed to sign the role sheet he passes around each lecture & activity). Very lovely & cute Indian accent :D.
Go over new lesson everyday, he is extremely fast so you must keep up and not lag on your homework. quizzez every friday, and a test usually every 2 weeks. Hard to understand/see board if you're not up front. He exxpects this just to be all review for you...so if you have difficulty in math you will struggle.
I attended all classes and still was not able to get his teaching. He does not teach well in my opinion. Although, he is a nice and humble teacher.
nice guy but tough professor. you really have to study everyday to get a high score on his tests. some of the stuff was straight forward but sometimes he threw some curve balls. you can not be lazy in this class if you plan on passing
easy class if your good with math. but does go through chapters pretty quick. overall good guy and likes to challenge his smartest students.
When I asked him to clarify he only confused me more-_____- he has an accent that makes it difficult to understand and a lot of the problems on the test were harder than the ones we did in class. No study guides either.. The only good thing I have to say is that I think he curves the grades at the end, because I passed and wasn't expecting to
Hamza is a very strong andrespectable person, but as a professor I cannot reccomend him. His class was very hard for me (some people passed easily), and many others in the class. tests and quizzes almost always have alot of trick questions not in lecture, and he shows no mercy in his grading, it is quite ruthless. take another professor if you can.
yep its a hard class, its frigging calc 2, what did you expect! study the activity stuff and your homework, because most of the time, that will be your tests or a variation of it. Yes sometimes he'll ask trick questions, but will give you credit for the concept. Can be particular about how you answer questions so do it his way and show proof!
3 test, 1 final. Homework is graded. Tests are mainly from homework problems and activity questions. Goes over sections pretty fast. Make sure if you don't understand something during activity ask for your own benefit. Overall a nice professor. And attendance is mandatory.
Good professor overall, straight forward grading, dont listen to all the negative nancies his accent is is understandable. 3 midterms, 1 final, 4 hmwk assignments, and 4 quizzes. I def recommend him for cal 3.
Hamza was a fast lecturer. Attendance is mandatory, do not skip class u will miss some of the random quizzes. HATED HIS CLass! He is the worst math teacher i ever had.
DONT TAKE HIS CLASS. PERIOD!!!!
Prof. Hamza was interested in the course material which is a plus. The tests will not be a big surprise for you if you legitimately finished the homework.
IDK if it was just me but he made 370 way too hard. Got a D then retook with a normal teacher. Not a super easy teacher but a normal level teacher and got an A. Makes tests super hard then 0 curve. Stay away.
Hamza does take a lot of points off exams for dumb reasons but overall he's a great professor (very sassy though), easy to talk to. He will not curve, you get what you get. There are pop quizzes but if you ask him in front of the class, he'll tell you when they're to be expected. Study hw problems for quizzes and exams, similar or same
Great teacher but incredibly hard grader. Lots of hw. easy to understand. Funny at time. Tests are either exactly as hw or comepletely different. Did I say lots of hw, because there's lots of hw! 28 hw assignments total each will take you about an hour to 2. All in all quite a good teacher.
Take his class, you wont regret it. Just do the hw and you will be in great shape. the tests are exactly like the hw, sometimes questions from the hw end up on the test. Hw is very funny and sassy. Easy to understand and makes everything easy.
This guy was pretty funny, besides the thick accent he's a great professor! As for the class seriously just work hard, do ALL the homework, study hard for those exams - they're not too tough but they can get you if you didn't study well enough, also don't forget to ask about the quizzes cuz they can add up and make the difference from an 85 to a 90
Exams are very unpredictable. Sometimes exams are exactly from the h/w and sometimes its something youve never seen before. Would not recommend if math is not your strong point. Very fast paced.
Oh man oh man, I love Hamza but i hate Hamza. Explains material well, assigns a ton of HW. Quizes are given with little warning. Tests are either like the HW or ridiculously harder, loves using obscure special case problems. Super tough grader, will take 50% off for computational errors. NO CURVE, ever. If you like a challenge, take him.
He teaches well(a bit of a mess on the board) but it's a tough class. Will tell you when the quizzes are if you ask. Do all the hw b/c he never tells you whats on the exam, you should try to practice a bit of everything. Doesn't curve & takes SO MANY points off for small mistakes so check your work.3 MT, 4 Q, 1 final. You'll need to work very hard.
You need to dedicate a LOT of time to this class. LOTS of homework. Tests are challenging if you don't do every single problem. He does give them back. You can succeed if you make enough time and are not taking other hard courses. If not, take the CR/NC option before it's too late.
I can see why most people think he's intimidating, but Dr. Hamza is actually not that bad. He's now telling when there will be quizzes, he teaches well on explaining lessons on the board, and he let's you create a one-page cheat sheet and use a scientific calculator on his exams. Just practice a lot of problems and you'll be fine.
The previous reviews about him are no longer valid. He is an amazing professor to go to. He announces when the quizzes will be at and allows us to use a one-page cheat sheet in his exams. He is a chill professor. Promise.
Amazing and caring professor. Quizzes and exams are fair. He is caring and so cute.
Professor Hamza's lectures were great. He solved a lot of problems in class. His in person exam was based on the homework and problems he had solved in class. The exams in online were similar to homework as well. He announces quizzes a week before and they are not difficult. He gives partial credit and is generous.
Never replies to emails and is actually hard to talk to, only way to get a hold of him is during class.
Professor Hamza is very organized - the class was pretty much exactly like the syllabus outlined. He would stop for questions throughout the lectures and would remind us of upcoming homework and tests so we didn't forget. Hamza is a very calm and friendly professor - very approachable if you have any questions. Would recommend.
He is very organized and sticks with his schedule on the syllabus. Don't be afraid to go to office hours and ask him questions he is very helpful and wants you to understand the concepts. 3 quizzes, 3 Exams, a final, and 10 homework assignments. This class is point based, with Homework 5 points, Quizzes 20, Exams 100 points each and a Final 150.
Yells at you when you take a picture of the board(bc you can't see what he wrote). The amount of HW, quizzes, and tests he gives is straight up disrespectful. Acts like he's the only class students are taking. HWs take 6-8 hours to do, a HW is due every week. 4 quizzes. 3 exams. Basically no break from this class. Takes attendance DURING an exam.
He doesn't respond to emails, even if it's from a counselor or BMAC. Take another professor, please.
AVOID IF YOU ARE BAD AT MATH. Hamza is a very organized professor when it comes to the course, lectures are amazing, but his exams are on a different level (no curve ever w/ a 65% average). Make sure you study the lecture questions by heart. Class is point based with exams taking up a majority, if you are good with math take him if not avoid him.
He doesn't respond to the email. He gives everyone the quiz but doesn't release a password lock. How can I access to that quiz?
If you hate calculus 1, take his class! You will master that course.
To those students that are naturally good at math, Hamza is an excellent professor. It can sometimes be difficult to understand him because of his accent, but isn't too much of a problem. Organized and sticks to the syllabus. There is quite a bit of homework. Exams and quizzes are exactly like homework problems with different numbers. Fun class.
Exam/quiz questions are based on examples done in class so make sure to go to lecture and take notes. HW is lengthy and alot harder than exams so make sure to get started early, but he said he doesn't grade hw for accuracy. He also drops a quiz and hw grade. Really organized & makes the material digestable. Definetly a professor to consider taking.
prof Hamza is a really nice and caring guy who wants you to pass. you need to be good at calc 1, 2, and precalc to do good in his class since it builds more. Most of grade is exams but he allows corrections if you don't do good. ask him for help when needed. Homework helps for exams a ton, do them.
tests & quizzes are based on examples done in class but he doesn't upload grades on canvas properly. during this semester, he only uploaded my test and quiz grades up until three weeks ago and he never updated my attendance grade nor homework grade starting from a month ago. his lectures are hard to follow unless you've heard of the subject before.
