dude, this guy is HORRIBLE. hardest tests that he doesnt even teach you the material and he is the HARDEST grader on the stupidest stuff. its the only class i ever got a C in. seriously avoid this guy, its just a freaking WELLNESS CLASS someone explain that too him. be prepared for 100 true or false tests that make NO SENSE.
He is stupid and arrogant! He thinks he is slick and smart, but he really knows nothing!
He takes a health class way too seriously, but he's an overall great guy and is almost always in a good mood. I hate the class, but like him.
I didn't like him! He is disorganized and not very clear on things. His tests are impossible. Nobody ever does well on them!
a lot of notes but there are only two tests during the semester which are open book. entirely too many notes but he is always in a good mood
If you can take instructions well, then you should have no problem in this class. Live up to the expectations of his syllabus and you'll pass the class. Do ALL (or at least most) of the extra credits option he gives; they're life savers. Try and get as much of notes as you can in class; they help more than reading from the book.
All I can say is his class was very BORING.....I rather poke my eyes out then sit and listen to him!
He lost my graded papers and gave me 50% class participation. I was always there always prepared. He is horrible...He refused to meet with me about my wrong grade. Worst teacher thus far.
Prior to this class, everyone i had talked to told me to drop it and find a new prof. WOW they were right. Hadi is an unfair man and is tedious about the stupidest things. Test are very long for a short period of time. Look for the details, he gives extra credit, but will not accept if the littlest thing is missing. Go to class, it counts!!
HORRIBLE teacher. I am a junior and I have never failed a class. I have been on deans list every semester and yet failed his class. When I approached him to question a grade he gave me he treated me like I was stupid and told me I couldn't do anything about it so "stop wasting your time, because you won't go anywhere." DROP THE CLASS!
WOW, worst teacher ever. Wellness should be fun, no lab time just all class work. This class was the hrdest ive ever taken. He does not help you with problems.
terrible. he's horrible
Hard, but fair. Extreme levels of detail required - very picky on completeness of work. Sometimes ambiguously worded test questions get annoying. His final portfolio project is one of the most dreaded aspects of the class - it takes forever to put together, and feels completely useless. But, in his defense, he is a glorified gym teacher...
The worst professor I ever had. He is arrogant and horrible. He is horrible . avoid his classes if you can.
NOBODY TAKE HIS CLASS! He is a very horrible teacher with no relationship to his students. I feel it's ironic he teaches a course on wellness. Terrible person with lack of respect for young adults. NOBODY TAKE HIS CLASS!
Freshmen, take the advice I was never given - talk to your advisor (even if this will be your first time) and learn how the add/drop period works ASAP and LEAVE THIS CLASS!!! This was my lowest grade in college - I am a senior with a high GPA...just trust me and the others that stand against him!
Worst professor i ever had at Millersville. I'll be a sr in the fall and his wellness class was the lowest grade i ever got in any course. He's not helpful, arrogant, and treats his students like they're inferior to him. Not clear on his lectures and rushes through everything. Drop this course with him as soon as possible and get someone else.
gave me a d out of nowhere
I didn't think the class was too hard, had high A's on all my tests (96, 98, at least a 94 on the final)... somehow I got a B.. I don't know how he grades his participation, but somehow my grade dropped from A to B just by participation (and I showed up to every class except one when I was sick).. worst professor at the school
Horrible professor. Took this class last sem. Reads power point and adds nothing. Tests were terribly constructed, lots of grammatical errors. He is basically stealing money from the university. Have no idea how he got hired to begin with, speaks broken English. Knows nothing about weight training but acts like he's the authority on health. Awful
Takes himself way too seriously for a glorified gym teacher. Biggest waste of time ever, do not take this guy, you will learn nothing and you will waste hours of your life that you can never get back, grading system is unfair as well, he marks up every little imperfection.. might be the worst professor in the entire state of pennsylvania
I took his class for basic wellness. I usually do great in all of my classes- got a D on my first test back from him. He has broken english and his tests are word-for-word from the powerpoints. You need to memorize pointless details and tests are not easy. Also, 5 million pages of notes...

I saw tons of bad reviews here, but he didn't seem too bad... until the first test. His tests are word-for-word, the powerpoint's. He'll pick the hardest stuff, too. He's also often contradictory about labs.. you need to double-check with him everything, or you'll miss out. You won't fail with this prof, but you better memorize those ppt's!
Dr. Halawa is useless hands down he should not be teaching. I learned nothing from him, and he is to busy trying to instill discipline to make any progress. Worthless to the point of you wasting your money.
Its not your average health class, he knows everyones name and take attendance... must to worksheets and extra-credit to pass
I am a senior in college and let me tell you, THE WORST PROFESSOR IN THE HISTORY OF MU!!!I took his class as a freshman and for some odd reason he gave me an F!!! I have never in my entire life received an F for any class (besides his). His English is broken says his sentences backwards, and when you ask him a question, he looks in the textbook.BAD!
omg. i couldn't stand this calss. he was really nice but a really bad professor. we went to the weight gym every single workout day. that's all we did. then again, every time my class tried to do stuff in the gym, the other well professor complained that the gym was his. very unfair and extremely tiresome.
Not as bad as everyone else has portrayed him to be. I enjoyed class. His exams came straight from the powerpoints word for word so if you copied the powerpoints and studied then you could receive a easy A.
I enjoyed having Dr. Halawa and this class. He is always in a good mood. But watch out for tests. Think you studied enough? You didn't. Tests are hard. He is very fair. DO NOT MISS MORE THAN 3 MWF CLASSES, YOU WILL FAIL.
He's a good guy, but cannot speak english very well. His exams are from the most detailed specifics from his powerpoint presentations. I would recommend not taking wellness with this professor.
I love Dr. Halawa, he's awesome. if you study well for his tests you should be fine. DO NOT SKIP HIS CLASS. he's very particular about attendance. tests are fair. he is very knowledgeable about his field, and willing to answer any questions. i didn't have trouble understanding him, even with his accent. write down all of the notes, expect many.
Dumbest class in the history of higher education. Really easy though.
He lacks common sense and explains the simplest concepts for way too long. Class is boring. Even if you talk to him prior class starting about how you are going to be literally 1 minute late because your prior class is the furthest away on campus and you have 10minutes to get there, he will still mark you tardy. His english is very poor..ect?
Horrible professor. He failed me for missing a few classes, in which I had strep throat and doctors notes, he would not accept them and gave me 0/150 Participation points, even though I did every lab and workout. You can't understand him talking and his tests are very difficult. If you have his class drop it and take another professor.
Drop this class if you have him. His tests make no sense, he tells you as long as you write a few notes from each slide your fine. And he tells if something not on the test, when the test comes around its a lot more in depth then he says and those slides he says don't write notes, there is two pages dedicated to it. Not a good person, no compassion
He was really nice and really like my class, but then everyone I talked to in the class got Cs! For the tests make sure you know the material because he included specific details. I thought I was going to do well in his class, but I guess not. I would suggest another professor.
He is a nice guy but he is one of the worst teachers i've had. No offense to him but he doesnt teach that well. He has madatory attendance. His test are pretty hard and all we did on mondays was go to the weight room and did nothing. If your can please get another teacher. I ended up with a C+ and i tried really hard. My friend got an F. Good luck
Difficult to understand - not proper english, lecture style EVERY class, puts everyone to sleep, and tests are specific numbers and percentages that do not ever matter. If you can advoid him, you will do yourself a favor by taking wellness with any other wellness professor, just do not take him!
dude i read rateyourprofessor's comments on this guy and i was scared out of my mind to get a terrible grade in basically a gym class. WHAT PEOPLE SAY IS NOT TRUE...you get A's on his exams by MEMORIZING ANY statistic he gives you. EVERY ONE. TAKE DOWN EVERY NOTE POSSIBLE. your hand will hurt but it will be worth it...not hard at all.
Don't take his class! This was the worst mistake in my college career.
BEWARE! Worst teacher ever!! He was awful at lecturing and the physical part of the class is ridiculous. Follow his rules exactly or you will be penalized, I'm a straight A student and this was the only class I ever got a D in. Don't event try to communicate with him, it's useless.
Egyptian, not easy to understand, all u do is copy powerpoints and do activities the other classes, he is very persuadable we played volleyball every monday and screwed around, lectures put me to sleep, and he tells u u need to do labs and charts but in the end he says u don't need them, u can only miss 3 days.tests are easy if u memorize statistic
I read the comments at first and thought just bad students would complain but I studied really hard for tests, actually worked out in the the dumb weight room assignments every monday and filled out ever lab and got a B- somehow. Avoid him period and if you get him by default as a freshman, change it. there's way easier wellness classes
I am currently in his class for the spring semester of 2010. By far the most boring professor at MU. Like everyone else mentioned, he has a terrible accent. Tests are composed of useless statistics that you will never use. I don't have the book, but I got high B's on his test by memorizing useless statistics. Each week we have less and less people.
Drop this class if you can! Not even joking. I read these comments and thought they were just bs. Boy was I wrong....
This guy is terrible. Please listen to the reviews. Everyone here agrees. This man is awful. I failed his wellness class and now need to take a six course load the next semester. Please drop his course while you can. His words are inaudible and he doesn't know what he is talking about. He told our class whey protein was a steroid....Idiot.
His class was usually boring. Sat there taking notes off of powerpoint, most of the stuff being useless when it comes to studying for the tests (which are HARD). I got a C+ in this course, practically a gym class!!
by FAR worst teacher i've had in Millersville. Why would he pick a profession he is so bad at? Has no qualities of being a good teacher.
Do NOT take this class!! He is the worst prof ever. He uses power point but the notes that you take are useless when it comes to studying for the exams. Do not take this class!
This prof knows nothing about what he is teaching and is exams are off the wall questions. You have to remember what he told you, not what is true b/c he has his biology all wrong and various other factual errors. DO NOT TAKE
he is by far the worst teacher ive had at millersville. his class is so boring all you do is take notes off powerpoint slides and his tests are nearly impossible. even if you try and pay attention in class he has no idea what he is talking about. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!
Horrible professor. He he is by far the worst professor I have ever had. His tests are ridiculously hard. They include tiny little details that most people would not find to be in the least bit important.
I am a dean's list, straight A student. So, listen to me when I say do not, and I mean DO NOT take this class with this man. The tests are impossible, the notes you take are long enough to be a novel. You could study for weeks and still not get an A...or a B for that matter. He's a nice guy, but he needs to learn to teach.RUN FAR FAR AWAY!
Was not helpful at all, and did not make it easy to find out your grade. Tests were full of useless stats rather than key concepts and he unfairly took off random points on physical activity days.
This guy is horrible. Do everything in your power not to take him especially if you are an athlete. I got all B's in his test and he gave me a C. He's not organized and his English is choppy. He's a pathetic excuse for a professor.
This Prof. is absolutely terrible. I did all my work for his labs and workout stuff. He never collected anything and just decided to give me a C. His tests are 50 questions of T/F. DO NOT TAKE, HE RUINED MY GPA.
RUNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!! Very strict on attendance. Tests consist of 25 t/f and 25 multiple choice. Doesn't know what he is talking about during class. Reads slide then refrases it to appear like he knows what he's doing.
unless you are the epitome of the perfect student i would seriously suggest dont take him unless you absolutely have to. i am a good student and study HOURS for his stupid tests and get B's. i deserve an A for this course will be miracle if i get it
I highly recommend NOT taking his class. His test are just stats nothing useful, sometimes puts thing that he didn't go over on tests. Our final this semester he gave us a handout with questions, told us to go to this site. He taught NOTHING on the final instead had a website teach us, and never went over the handout he gave. He is VERY strict on a
His class seams extremely easy, but the grades you earn do not translate into the grade he gives. Unfortunately you can not appeal grades to the dept head with this professor, or at least that was the case when I had him. Do not take this professor if you care at all about having an honest professor or receiving the grades you earn.
Test are on details and statistics, and are based off the power points not the book. Boring and useless facts (that I have already forgotten). Have to be there to copy the power point. There has to be a better way to run a wellness class. Only positives are low homework and he is friendly.
Dr. Halawa is HORRIBLE!!! Do not take his class! I mean his material is fair, not too hard or easy. But he is not a nice person. He doesn't care about his students at all! Attendance is mandatory, and he isn't lenient. I missed a total of 3 days, and he gave me a 50% on participation! Change you r prof if you have him! He should be fired!!!
He is by far the worse professor i have ever encountered, there is no out of class work which is great but this class is a GPA murderer. He uses Power Points all semester which he completely copied from a textbook and it still had misspellings...DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS
This is the absolute worst teacher I have ever had!!! I did decent on the tests, went to the workouts and the workouts i did miss i went to the gym and did a way harder workout than you could ever get in 50 min. and had a worker at the gym sign them all. I go to give him all my worksheets and he wont except them... All that hard work for NOTHING!!
Not good at lecturing and bad teacher. Isn't helpful at all. Have to look in the book to help understand what he is talking about. Takes points off for not being dressed on workout days and not having a stupid binder with you to write down what you did. There are only 4 exams and some of the questions are confusing and puts unnessary stats.
Worst wellness teacher I have had in my entire life!!!! Don't take his class!! He doesn't know what he is talking about! Tests don't make any sense and impossible to get a good grade! AVOID!!!!!
The ratings don't lie. I would highly recommend you get out of this class and find another professor. He grades terrible, his accent makes him hard to understand. He is very unfair and not a good teacher. One of those professors you wonder how they have their job. All lecture Tuesday and Thursday is lecture with a "workout".
this was the 1st time I ever got a C in Wellness. I expected this class to be easy, but there are 4 exams (including the final) and most of the questions are based on outdated statistics and data. during one of the workout days one girl got 50 pts taken off her participation grade just for leaving early! get another prof NOW!
Dr. Halawa is a nice guy but is not very helpful. His powerpoints are long and uninteresting and sometimes it's hard to decipher what he meant because he doesn't spell things correctly. The class isn't impossible, you just have to put a lot of effort into it. If you're willing to do that, then this is a good class for you.
Dr. Halawa's class should be avoided. I missed 3 classes and was failed freshman year. Retook the class with Dr. Lombardi and loved it. Teachers need to care about students to be successful. She loves her students and is amazing. Take it with her. Dr. Halawa is unfair, unjust, and unclear. Stay away.
terrible
This class isn't that bad if you like coping down word for word slides the whole time. It was very uninteresting for me. His tests were also very hard, they were all about numbers and stats. For a class that should be so easy it was rather hard with him. He seems cool person but professor, not so much
just the worst . unfair and unjust. needs to be fired doesnt care for students and if he is understood or not just avoid !!
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. It is extremely difficult. Try to take another Wellness class. I studied for hours for all four of his tests and got D's on all of them. He puts too much information into one test. This class isn't worth the struggle. It should not be that I was able to get A's in my other four classes and end up with a D in his.
Probably the worst teacher I have ever had. I don't even think a Harvard student could get a B in it. His tests have so much random information on it involving numbers and most of them are pointless questions not having anything to do with what he attempted to teach us. I hated his class and wished I had another wellness teacher. I luckily got a C-
Very funny professor, but very challenging. His tests are designed to trick you (multiple choice is OK, true/false is what hurts people). All you do in class is take notes--nothing else. If you value your GPA, I suggest you take another professor. If you care less about GPA and enjoy writing slide after slide of notes, take this class.
NEVER take this class! This guy is a poor excuse for a professor and he doesn't even lift! Has 0 knowledge of what he is teaching either!
Hadi is one of the worst professors that I have had in my first semester at Millersville. His notes are boring and monotonous and often times don't have anything to do with the exam at all. Exams are extremely difficult, even when properly studied for. He refuses to offer extra credit or curve on top of it all. I DON'T recommend this class at all
Worst learning experience ever. I don't even know why I say learning because I have learned nothing from this professor. There are 5 grades for the entire semester so if you mess up on one, you're already in a deep hole. No extra credit & hardly half of the content covered in class is relevant to the tests. Idk how I'm going to pass. STAY AWAY!
Hadi is a sad excuse for a teacher. He cannot teach, speak English, or make a test without putting undiscussed information on it. His refusal to break the language barrier makes this class very difficult, for his first language was not English, therefore making it impossible for him to teach and to understand why his students are struggling.
The class could have been very beneficial were it not for the ridiculously absurd demands of the professor. Seems nice, but his tests are FILLED with trick questions. I studied for hours from class notes, power points and textbook (completely useless), and still failed the class. If you're registered in his class, DROP it.
I enjoyed him as a person, but not as a professor. Do NOT take him lightly. His tests almost trick you, read the questions carefully! His phys ed section is just using the weight room or walking the track. Switch if you can!
Tough tests.
Gave a final exam on 3 chapters never covered in class. Information in power points does not match information in books. Boring.
Halawa was a really cool guy, don't get me wrong. Unfortunately, he grades almost completely off his ridiculously hard tests, and you have 3 + a final. You don't need the book at all either, and it was a 100ish dollar book, don't waste your money. He has a thick accent as well, and doesn't go into detail too much.
He is horrible. If you are late more than 4 times, you might as well drop this class. He won't let you know your attendance points which affects your grade a lot more than you think. His test are very tricky. Study hard if your going to consider taking this class.
Requires you to attend every single class, and does not use the university attendance policy. Tests are full of trick questions, half of which are true or false. Also, the questions test mostly have nothing to do with the lecture. Nice man with strict authoritarian personality, and his accent does not help with understanding the content.
Tests are very hard... There will be true and false and he'll write that the answer is 0.36 when it's actually 0.38. You should memorize numbers. He's pretty nice though.
You have to go to the classes to pass. His tests are so stupid because they're half true and false, half multiple choice. He tests you on numbers and statistics and not the information that's important. Just memorize all the numbers and you'll be fine. He's nice but don't get on his bad side (don't be late or talk in class). Don't buy the textbook.
Drop this class IMMEDIATELY. Hadi failed me due to using my cellphone! WHICH HE NEVER SAID ANYTHING DURING THE COURSE. I received my end grade and was so horrified by my final score. He also didn't not count over HALF of the required material he gave out. He said soda wasn't bad for you and gives inaccurate info. Ps. His tests are trick questions.
Run from this professor he is terrible
I HATE THIS CLASS
Only points given are for tests. They are very difficult. He is extremely hard to understand and is somewhat confusing. WILL NEVER TAKE A CLASS WITH HIM AGAIN!
Worst professor I've ever had, tests were not accurate to class material the information used was outdated compared to book and his classes were a waste of time- you just copy from a powerpoint instead of learn. His exams were difficult for a 100lvl class, he absolutely loves trick questions and wording things to make it difficult to understand.
Don't ever take wellness with Halawa. Even if you are smart, work hard, are intelligent, come to class, take good notes, pay attention, you probably won't do well because his tests are trick questions and doesn't challenge your knowledge of the subject at all. Does not offer extra credit and the tests are your only grades.
Dr. Halawa is an overall nice guy! I think he was such a nice person and very friendly, BUT his class is impossible. I skipped one class, took good notes and studied for his tests ALOT. His test are very tricky and confusing. All you do is go to class and take notes and do a couple worksheets. I didn't open the textbook once, it is not needed.
I'm graduated back in 2011 from MU, worked in my field for 5 years, and now finishing up my graduate degree in a STEM field from IUP. I came back to comment on how horrible this guy was. I haven't had this professor in 7 years, but he is still absolutely the worst professor I have ever had. I have no idea how he still has a job.
Halawa is a terrible professor. He does not know how to teach nor does he not know how to format the test questions. Beware of tricky questions. I would not recommend this professor to anyone. RUN!
Halawa is the perfect example of a professional in their field who then retired, got bored of retirement and convinced themselves that they'd be good at teaching when they actually wouldn't. In all my years of school, whether it be elementary middle school high school or college, Halawa is hands down the worst teacher i ever had.
During the class I've read every chapter that was on an exam and each exam has questions that even if you knew the subject would still be confusing. Make sure you write down every stat that he throws at you because a lot of the stats he says in class will show up on the test; and even that might not help. Good luck if you have him!
I only missed 1 class. Studied hard. Took very good notes. Couldn't seem to do well on the tests. Got the same grade in this class as I did in Calc 2.. Doesn't make sense to me. I also know several people who failed. He's laid back and fun in class, but then the tests are 100% numbers and very specific facts that you are somehow expected to know.
I've been in school for 3 years and I'm a straight B student until I made the terrible mistake of choosing him to be my professor. His lectures are so simple.. but his tests are 100x's harder. Don't even bother spending a $100 on the book.. even if you study off of it, the information in the text will not be on the test.
Attendance policies are so strict, my week trip to California for my Grandfather's funeral was not even excused. Lectures are enjoyable but tests will only have half the information you are given.
This class isnt too bad but you must study a lot for his exams. Half the information he doesnt teach and it doesnt match up with the book. Dont buy the textbook find somewhere to get the labs from. A lot of boring lectures but youll get through it.
Hadi is a genuinely good guy. He tries his best to make lectures interesting, and it's easy enough to get full points on labs and participation, but attendance is mandatory. Tests aren't too hard if you actually study, they're just tedious for a general education class. GO TO OFFICE HOURS! There is very little homework, but use time to study.
Dr. Halawa was, put simply, not good. Class is devoted to note taking, and if you don't participate, you'll not get the 50 participation points. Tests are really difficult, he pulls out the tiniest details from the chapters and puts them on the test. I studied for the exams, and barely passed. I would NEVER take him again
He does not teach you current/accurate information. his test have trick questions and don't cover material in the notes or book. you can study 2 weeks in advance and still fail. this class was harder than higher level math and science courses. change prof. if you can or drop save your gpa.
Will not take again, his tests are horrendous and he only gives tests for your grade. I studied a lot for this class and barely passed. Not worth the cost. My roommate failed his class and is currently retaking it and still struggling! He needs to go.
Dr. Halawa is the worse professor I ever had. I took his 3 hour night class and the whole time he would just lecture. You can study a week in advance and still fail his tests. The wording on the tests make no sense. If you miss even 1 class, you will lose a lot of points. If you don't participate, you also lose a ton a points. I don't recommend him
I graduated in 2011, and pursued my STEM Master's Degree in 2015 while working full time. I received my degree last year. Hadi Halawa is still the worst professor I have ever had. It is beyond me how such an unorganized loof could possibly teach at such a great school.
I took this class 4 years ago, he is the worst professor at Millersville University. A nice person, but the worst professor I've ever had. Drop before it's too late or even withdraw and retake with someone else.
Most of what you go over in class isnt on the test, overall terrible teacher.
writing this in his class at the moment. Id rather off myself with a blunt object then listen to anymore of the useless things he tries to articulate to us. They will be of no use anyways as his tests consist of the most minuscule details of each chapter and are never covered in his lectures. Please drop this class if you have the chance.
When I was a child, my father told me, "You can do anything you put your mind to." The only thing I learned in this class is that my dad tells lies. This Wellness class is not synonymous with gym class from highschool. If anything this class is like the Price is Right, with a 4.00 as the grand prize. This class made me commit sewer slide Rip GPA.
More than half of my class failed. The worst teacher I've ever had, including all my prior to college years. Nothing he says in his long boring lectures are ever on the test. He lectures the entire class and when it doesn't match the book he says the book is wrong. Can study for hours to just get D's. Do not take anything with Halawa.
He was very judging and hard to understand. He would glare at you when asking to go back to the next slide
Hes a bad professor. Class is all lectures. Nothing what I expected wellness to be. Hes boring.
he is terrible. He showed me what to study and that stuff i studied wasnt on the test
He comes off as an alien trying to be human, impossible tests, curriculum is super outdated
Class is lecture heavy and his accent makes lecture difficult to understand his teaching. Tests are overly complicated for such simple subjects. Only grades given are tests and pointless labs that barely affect your grade.
This is NOT like high school health class, Dr. Halawa exams are the most confusing, arbitrary, and difficult things I have taken during my time at Millersville. It doesn't help that 90% of your grade is exams. I can CONFIDENTLY say 1/3 of my class failed. He lectures for the entire class and the textbook is useless. Do NOT take Dr. Halawa.
Probably the worst professor I've had at MU. Wrote the textbook because of course he did, claimed he "cut costs" whilst charging over $100 dollars for the thing. Tests are about 1/3 arbitrary statistics from the book that I was supposed to know I guess? Real rough.
STAY AWAY! Do not negate the reviews. If you have him as a professor, DROP THE CLASS! THE worst professor I have ever encountered. His information is outdated and sometimes outright false. Spends the entire class period spitting useless stats, which you are then expected to remember for his horrendously misleading exams. Save your GPA and AVOID!
took Halawa 6 years ago. I'm currently in medical school and I can still honestly say, he's is the worst/hardest professor I've ever had. Don't ignore these reviews. STAY AWAY! if his wellness class is the only one available for you. Just take it the next semester. DO ANYTHING (withdraw, take a semester off, LEAVE THE COUNTRY) to avoid the class!
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. He is boring and his test have nothing to do with what he teaches or will cover the most minuscule details that you wouldn't even think of studying. Four test decide your grade along with a few easy assignments that are only worth 10%. If you want your GPA to drop, take this class.
His tests are really hard even for kids who studied. He makes you memorize lots of notes, throws in a few questions on tests and on info we havent even learned.
I was really nervous to take this class after I read all of the bad reviews on here. Despite that, as long as you have the motivation to study, come to class, and pay attention you will do fine. I got A's on all on the tests, I made quizlets for each test. Lecture heavy, and if you don't come to class you don't get to makeup tests w/o an excuse.
The only grades in his class are the tests. There's material on the tests that wasn't taught. Tests are statistic heavy (even though he says they're not). He reads straight off the slides when giving lectures. For every 1 slide he goes forward, he goes 4 slides back and nothing gets accomplished. He's a chill guy but terrible professor.
This class was forced onto me Freshman year as my health class. If I could've picked any other health class I would've. There are 4 tests that are more than 50% of your grade. And they are written meant to trick you. He is a nice guy and all, but i wouldn't recommend this class to anyone
His tests made no sense. He doesnt give you a set thing to study and gives you a lecture before the tests (i had a 3 hour lecture). Dont take his course. Ive never done bad in health classes in my past and then i took his class and it changed. His course is awful. Run.
He is the WORST professor I have ever had. I assumed since it was a wellness course it would be easy right? I'm about to graduate and I have not taken a class harder than this one. The questions are so specific. He gets anger issues and holds grudges against students. Very Judgemental. I never saw higher than a 35% on my exams and I'm an A student.
Dr. Halawa is a very nice guy and means well. With that being said, he is one of the worst professors I’ve ever had. He uses outdated information, the only source of anything from the class is in his incredibly boring lectures, his accent makes him almost unintelligible and he makes someone in class participate or he gets impatient. Don’t take
DO NOT TAKE!! You'd think an intro level Wellness course would be a breeze, but with this guy, it will probably be the hardest class you take in college. Completely out of touch with reality, extremely test weighted, and is extremely unhelpful when his students struggle. My class had 22 people in it and I know that at least 6 other people failed.
Do not take this class!! There is A LOT of information covered, yet the tests have questions we barely covered and vocab we did not discuss. He is extremely hard to understand so when he asks a question in class we could not understand him (and then he would get mad that we were not participating!). Though we studied and attended, we failed.
i had him last year and I'm coming back to say he is the worst professor I have had thus far. If you have to take a course from him, RUN. What he taught was not on the quiz and he was very stubborn. He believed that he was right and would not take criticism. Most of my class failed every test and he blamed us even though he didn't teach us well.
Does not post anything online to try to discourage skipping class, making it very difficult for those who miss class for valid reasons. Exams make up over half of your grade, so if you do poorly good luck. Does not respond to emails which shows a lack of concern for students. Would not recommend. I passed, but my 300 level classes were easier.
Used outdated information, information not provided was used in tests, and responded to emails only after prompting from Chair. My way or the highway kind of professor, no leniency given. My great uncle passed and I was still expected to come in for a test two days before the funeral when he passed the Saturday before.
Legitimately one of the worst professors at Millersville. Seems like they have no interest in teaching or their students. Class is just notes, which is what the exams are "based" on. Definitely some trick questions in the exams. Avoid them at all costs!!!
Lectures are 10 year old Pearson slides, read verbatim. Exams are unnecessarily difficult due to trick questions, poor wording, and include topics not covered in lecture. One exam consisted of only true or false questions, resulting in nearly the entire class failing. Avoid his class at all costs
I have never gotten anything lower than a B in any of my college classes, and I barely got a C. I studied my butt off for the last exam and was able to boost my grade. Material is old and outdated, and tests are literally the worst tests I have ever experienced in my life.
Do not take. Does excessively long lectures with near to no check-in Does no review before exams. For grading, a "vintage" Scantron that doesn't read answers correctly. (I got a 65 on an exam, took it back to get it re-graded, and received an 80). Expects you to know and have studied down to the dime of 3 months of lecture for a single exam.
The fact that Millersville continues to employ this man blows my mind, my academic advisor told me that he's been known to fail the majority of his students, which sounds ridiculous until you've had a class under him. I'm not sure what he's trying to accomplish here, but it certainly isn't to teach anything of value beyond health statistics.
He reads write off of the lecture and you just sit and copy the notes. There are eight assignments and 3 exams. Exams are somewhat hard if you don't know every word in the notes! Don't really recommend but he will help you on things if you ask nicely
took him for fyex 100: cultural diversity in health/wellness. lectures were so boring.. he literally read straight off of a powerpoint for an hour straight every class. there were only 4 assignments total throughout the whole semester, 3 of which were exams. exam questions were super specific and almost never made sense. do not recommend.
