Easily one of the most transparent professors in the department. The class is suited for anybody to pass the class for as long as effort is consistent. Each lowest homework, quiz, worksheet, and lab was dropped at the end of the semester. Very comfortable with material and thoroughly explains concepts or questions so that anyone could understand.
He is a good professor, the lectures are very clear and give the info needed for the exams. He is always at office hours and always is very willing to help. The class is a lot of information and has a lot of workload but is doable to get a good grade
Dr. Alawdi is an amazing professor. He really cares about his students and wants them to succeed. This is my third time taking this class and I am finally passing it, and with a B. There is a lot of work in his class (HW, WS, Quizzez, Exams) but if you put in the time/work, you will pass. I learned a lot from him more than the other professors.
Professor Alawdi is a great professor. No doubt, the class is little hard. But if you pay attention in class and listen to his lectures, you'll easily pass. There are going to be 4 exams throughout the semester. I was working full time and had a B in this class. Highly recommend Professor Alawdi.
Amazing professor, really enthusiastic. There's 4 exams each have around 30 multiple choice questions and 5 written responses that are worth around ten points each. Honestly this class does need you to dedicate time but professor Alawdi is there to help if you need it. Definitely one of the best professors I've had.
Very enthusiastic, funny, smart, very professional and kind. Work load is a lot and demanding but it pays off. Gives 4 exams, a replacement exam, as well as dropping your lowest grade in each category of assignments. You should expect homework, experiments, worksheets, quizzes, studying. He explains very well. His office hours are my best advice.
The good: Dr. A is a very pationate professor, if you are willing to put in thr work, you can pass his class. The bad: The class can be very challenging and you have to stay on top of your work if you want to succeed.
Professor A, is a good and very professional and a nice professor. There is a lot of work, but it is easy, and it is worth it. He gives you 4 exams, and there is a replacement exam in the end of the semester if you didn't good on one of the 4 exam. You have Homework, worksheet, and a quiz for every chapter. I Highly recommend him for Chem B11.
Always remember to laugh at his jokes even if they aren't funny. Be energized and prepared to have a full chapter of chemistry shoved into your brain. His test are very tricky. It's either you know it or you don't. Prepare to study a lot and stay on top of the chapters. If I retook the class I would learn the next chapter before being taught.
CHEMB11 is a tough class in general! you have to be willing to put in the work to pass the class with a decent grade. Professor Alawdi provides all the tools you need to pass his class. He truly shows that he cares about his students. 4 exams and he replaces the lowest one with a replacement exam given at end of semester if needed.
Professor Alawdi does a great job going over the materials in lecture which is both mandatory and helpful. He is good natured and funny while taking lab precautions seriously. He is pretty available during his stated office hours and always willing to lend a hand. I recommend taking this with Anatomy since the information is sometimes repeated.
He is a great professor and makes the class enjoyable. The class itself is hard but his class makes it very doable and it is easy to get a good grade as long as you study and do what is expected. He is always at office hours and very willing to help. He is very clear about what to expect for the class and makes his lectures fun.
Chem B11. Professor A is very welcoming, lets you know early on what is expected and how his assignments/Exams will be graded. Be prepared to put in time outside of class hours. He has office hours which are nice when you have questions outside of class. If you put in time and effort you should be able to pass the class.
Good professor. Work load is very heavy. His office hours and group meetings are best advise. He gives some extra credit. He is very enthusiastic about topics.
He is a great teacher. He is very strict with attendance and being tardy(don't be). He explains things well. His exams are very not what you would expect. LEARN THE REACTIONS. Biggest advice. Get a good understanding of each character, they tie together.
I would highly recommend this class but be prepared to do a lot of studying. Professor makes it clear that if you dont study you will fail. And its true the chapters go really quick but Professor A includes detailed hw and worksheets that help you with your studying
Make sure you're ready to study a lot. You need to everyday. Chapters go quick. A lot of information that ties together and can be very confusing if not understood. Teaches very well. Tough grader and empathetic. He won't change your grade no matter what, you get what you get. Gives some extra credit. Lot of work but pays off.
Dr. A makes class engaging & fun! I don't recommend taking w/another science! I wish lectures were online to rewatch & lecture slides were in a book w note space. Tough grader at times, doesn't always give clear feedback. Offers extra credit & drops your lowest score on assignments. His expectations are high because he wants you to succeed!
Please read the material nits the one thing that got me through class. There were times that i felt impossible but the class is passable as long as you keep up with your work and make sure you dont miss anything
The professor is excellent, but the workload can be quite demanding. Attending his office hours and participating in group meetings are highly recommended for success. He offers some opportunities for extra credit, and his passion for the subject is evident in his teaching.
Make sure you're prepared to study diligently every day. Chapters pass by quickly, and there's a lot of interconnected information that can be confusing if not understood. The teacher really shows that he cares for the subject
I'm not to good when it came to studying this is actually my 2nd time taking chem but this time felt different after going to each lecture it truly felt like I learned something new and I understood what we talked about. Don't get me wrong the class is hard if you don't put any work in. Be prepared to feel like your brain is overloaded with info
Overall the class was great. Make sure to study a few days before each exam! don't fall behind!
He is a very good professor, expects a lot of his students. He offers help if needed! Go to office hours for help. Be prepared to put in a lot of studying and hard work with this course
This class was pretty tough, but the professor was great and was very knowledgeable. You can tell he cares about his students and wants everyone to pass. Make sure to take lots of time outside of class for studying. study study study. I would 100% take this course again with him.
The labs for this course were a ton of fun! Very hands on.
!STUDY! Dr.A definitely gives you everything you need in lecture & will let you know clearly what to expect on the exams. He is very engaging in his lectures & knows how to make it fun or get your attention with some jokes. Attendance is absolutely mandatory, you miss so much & will be difficult to try to catch up in a 5 unit class.
Highly recommend Dr. A! Super dedicated and funny, his lectures are engaging, though they can go fast with all the material. He's approachable for questions but can be stern... don't let that dissuade you! he wants you to learn!! The class is really manageable if you study and don't fall behind!
Really sweet and positive guy. He's strict but in the fairest way possible. Sets clear and consistent rules. Test-heavy grading. Supplementary material is provided with tests but make sure you study. His Canvas is incredibly concise and organized, making it easy to keep tract of work. His lectures are very detailed and easy to follow.
I took his Chem B11, It was tough, but if you put your time into studying you should be able to stay on task. Textbook was not required, however, It was helpful for me. There are 4 exams and a replacement exam you can take if you need to make up for one you didn't do well on. Not much extra credit opportunity. He is funny and does care.
Ultimately, he's a great professor. It's not an easy class so prepare yourself to put in the work. But no 250$ txtbook required! can buy older version 4 cheaper for studying though. Exams are a bulk of grade and are challenging so study. He drops the lowest wrksht, quiz, homework, and lab! NO cumulative final BLESS. strict abt being late.
Bad at explaining petty with the I wanted to use my own text book
Chemistry will never be easy no matter who you take it with. If you pay attention in class and ask questions you will enjoy class. Professor A is very personable and kind but will make you work for your grade without making it impossible. Class feels very rewarding when you understand a complex topic, you can feel that he's proud of you.
I recommend studying for the recommended amount of time your professor tells you to, and make sure you know the material before getting to know new material because it will make it harder. The layout of the class is lecture, then labs, theirs experiments and hw due the day after every lecture. We do have a textbook but I never used it.
He's a great professor. It's not an easy class so prepare yourself to put in the work. Required textbook but I never use it. Quiz is every week and have 4 exam He drops the lowest quiz, homework, and exam replaced.
This class is what you make of it. The professor is structured and expects effort to understand the material. Stay on top of studying—don't fall behind. He drops the lowest grade from assignments, quizzes, and exams. Get the older textbook to save, and order the lab manual early. He's funny, approachable, but holds you accountable when it counts.
This class is work-heavy and requires a lot of studying. While other chem courses might skip chapters or avoid worksheets, that only hurts you later. The professor is funny, cares deeply about your success, and hates tardiness, don't be late! He's strict about attendance but ensures you have the tools and support to succeed.
This course requires strong preparation and consistent effort. With four exams, a final, and weekly quizzes, procrastination isn't an option. The instructor is supportive, clearly explains lectures, and genuinely cares about his students, making the challenging workload more manageable and effective.
Engage with the material and be on top of things. Alawdi is very passionate about teaching chemistry which makes class fun. Also clear with how he will grade and what assignments will be due every week from the get go, lock in -16 chs: each with quiz, homework, and worksheet -18 labs -four quarter exams + final -clear class schedule on the syllabus
Professor Alawdi is a fair and caring teacher. Chemistry is a tough subject, and the workload reflects that, it's not his fault. If you're struggling, it's likely due to poor study habits. He offers many extra credit chances and is more forgiving than most. He genuinely cares about his students and wants them to succeed.
This was a great class, though it is difficult due to it being a 5 unit class. But you already knew that since you signed up. Many extra credit opportunities. If I could take this class over again I would do things differently. I would study everyday for several hours, I would go to his office hours often, and watch more videos on the subject.
Your week is super heavy while taking this class. What your week will look like- online homework, paper worksheet, and lab once or twice a week. Oh yeah and a quiz. Sounds like a lot.. I know, but it significantly helps you learn the material. The assignments aren't too difficult. Study! That's the main thing I can tell you. Also go to office hours
Professor Alawdi is a great instructor. He makes time for everyone. He also gives about a 6% average of extra credit over the entire course, which is a lot. I wish I would have dedicated more study time for this class and go to his office hours more often. This class needs to be the only course you're taking over the semester.
Expect to dedicate lots of time to studying, not a course you can cram for. Dr. Alawdi is a bit strict on punctuality/attendance, but besides that he's caring and transparent on expectations. Ask questions, participate, and attend office hours. Office hours have to be attended to check quiz/test answers which was the only thing I wasn't a fan of.
If i could go back and retake this class i would definitely take what he says at face value. With 16 chapters each chapter has a homework and worksheet assignment along with a lab report. Attendance and punctuality is MANDATORY. Lab hours are beneficial if you are struggling with a concept. Group sessions would also be helpful. Professor A is great
Expect to do a lot of work during the week. I suggest to not overwhelm yourself by either taking this class by itself of with easy credits. Each chapter has its own worksheet, homework, quiz, and prelab which requires you to put in the time, but it is manageable and it helpful in understanding the material.
The class is amazing. It will be an easy class if you actually spend time on studying the materials. Before lab times, make sure to read the introduction of the experiment and the procedure in advance to be more aware of what you are going to do. Dr. Alawdi gives out worksheets and those worksheets actually help me understand the topic better.
Hard class no matter who you take! He is a good professor because gives a lot of extra credit, drops the lowest score for hw quizzes etc., fun labs, genuinely cares about his students, and is helpful. Don't be late to class. If you actually study at least 30 minutes everyday then you will get an A. This class requires effort.
The class needs many hours of your time in and outside of class, a lot of studying and homework. Office hours are very helpful. Professor was very helpful with answering questions and explaining things. He does expect you to be on time and have your pre-labs done on lab days as you enter class. The class also has a quiz after each chapter.
Expect to have a lot of homework throughout the week. Be prepared to take detailed notes and extra attention during lecture. Take advantage of office hours and ask questions. Recommended to take class by itself or have good time management as this class requires most of your time. Definitely recommend to take class with Dr.Alawdi.
provides really good resources and handmade lecture notes. Gives you everything needed to succeed as long as youre studying you'll have no issues. Be precise in your free answers. Honestly loved his style of teaching and would choose him as my professor again if I needed to.
Lots of homework. Drops the lowest grade assignments of every topic except exams. However The final exam will replace your lowest graded exam if you score higher on it. His notes make it a lot easier.
This class was tough however the professor is very helpful and cares about his students he is very strict about tardiness. No late work if you are more than 15 mins late he will mark you absent. His office hours were very helpful. Overall the work wasnt too heavy however there was a quiz or two every week.
I WON'T sugarcoat anything this class is hard and easy depending on you if you put in the time and take it serious youl love it if you are lazy make sure you fix that be ready to dedicate time to study my best advice is after every quiz if you got anything wrong go to office hours and ask him about the questions the questions on exams are similar
Professor Alawdi class was difficult with the amount of info given in lecture, homework and worksheets. Be prepared to study hard and never miss a class! Although the class was extremely heavy it was overall fun and interesting. Prof Alawdi strides to make sure his students succeed and have what they need to be successful.
make sure you study strict on being tardy so dong be late be dedicated its fun during labs but you have to make sure your putting time after class to study the lectures will teach you a chapter best tip is right after a lecture one hour later go over it and review youll retain so much more
Professor Alawdi is a great teacher who takes his work seriously. The class is intense with worksheets, homework, labs, and quizzes or two, due weekly. He gives a clear schedule, of lab and lecture which helps. I wish I had listened when he said to study 15–20 hours a week, it's true. Take him seriously, and you'll succeed!
This class is manageable to do. I would recommend studying and not slacking. Attendance is important and make sure you know the material before starting new material because it can get harder. There's homework and lab packets due the next day after a new lecture. There is some extra credit that professor gives you, but overall this class was fun.
Attendance is mandatory, so expect getting your grade dropped a lot of times by not showing up at all or being late, worksheets and homeworks are always assigned as well as lab worksheets that need to be completed and signed off by him for credit. Very strict but nice and reasonable when it comes to grading!
Dr. Alawdi made me enjoy a subject I loathed and I almost changed majors. interactive lectures so BE THERE and BE ON TIME. Attendance and punctuality is important. labs, quizzes, worksheets, and online homework provides you with LOTS of practice on the material. I highly advise working through the problems and attending office hours for extra info.
The biggest thing that I would recommend for this class is to study every chapter. Make for sure to not fall asleep during lecture and lab because the class goes through a lot of information everyday. The labs are very fun and it something different each day of class.
The professor is very smart and the lectures can be too much but you can go to office hours and he will help you. There is alot of homework and worksheets but it was easy. The exams and quizzes are at the same level of difficulty.
Dr Alawdi is an outstanding Professor & highly recommend him - attendance is key, don't be late especially for lab since quizzes are at the beginning of lab - go to office hours, he is very helpful - set good time management skills - have all required materials early (lab manual took serval weeks to come in (with express shipping) - follow syllabus
Dr A is a fantastic professor. He really cares about his students & is very honest with how he grades/tests. Expect to take quizzes weekly. Strict on attendance/tardiness so don't be late. Order lab manuals early & go to office hours. Managing time outside of class is probably the hardest part, but it's a fun class once you get it down! Goodluck (:
Dr. Alawdi was a good professor however, the coursework can be overwhelming with 2 labs each week, worksheets, online homework, prelabs, etc. Attendance is very mandatory he will know if you attended class or not and just missing one lecture or lab could knock your grade down significantly. Office hours and communication is key!
is funny which makes it less nerve wracking when anxious. Would say hes a really good professor and passionate about chemistry
Hes an amazing professor cares about his students success his strict on being late so be on time take the actual time out of school to study and dont procrastinate and youll be fine its a chem class expect to do a lot of work
For this class, you need to be there to understand the lecture. There is lectures and labs right after you have homework and lab packets due the day after a lecture ends. There was a textbook, but I never used it and you need to have self discipline and study for hours at a time each day.
Dr. Alawdi does not sugar coat anything. He does not accept late work. You have to study a lot to do well in Chem B11. There is in two parts lab and lecture and you meet twice a week. The work load is lot in and outside of class. You cant be late to any of the classes or labs because we go over so much information on the day. Overall it was a fun.
Professor does not accept ANY late work, or lets you make up any missed quizzes/exam. If you pay attention, you will do great and understand. The labs are really great with having more practice, there is a book you can get but I never used it and I'm doing fine. There is some extra credit opportunities and no grades will be rounded.
quizzes every week
STUDY-Lectures, Quizlets, tutoring, make study groups, using prof's office hours, etc. He's strict with attendance, be on time. Don't avoid procrastination, try to get slightly ahead. Prioritize your time wisely. Communicate with Dr Alawdi; he's strict with accountability and his criteria, but he's fair and genuinely wants you to do well.
If you are good with time management and have great study skills you will definitely succeed. Otherwise dont take the class its alot of material covered each day is one chapter. Each week has a quiz or two.
For this class you have to study a LOT. I recommend to study right after class so you won't be forgetting what you learned in lecture! There are quizzes every week so pay very good attention in lecture and have good time management because there's lots of homework.
The class is two parts one part lab, one part lecture. You will have to do a lot of extra of studying outside of class is nesscasy to do well. Dr Alawdi does not take late work and any kind. the work for the class is on paper/online. All of the work is due by the next time you have class. study group was a major help. Office hours was every helpful
This was a really great class with a very good experience. Professor is a tough grader and attendance is mandatory. There is lots of homework plus a worksheet on top of the studying you need to do for the class. Overall it is a great class and you will learn a lot. Some things I would do differently is studying, tutoring, and using office hours
Dr Alawdi gives a lot of extra credit in total about 5% extra. The class is two parts lab and lecture. He has office hours and I wish had used it more. Before you enter lab you have to have completed Prelab for the day. Lastly do not be late for lecture because on the daily we cover a lot of information. Overall was fun and it really tested me.
This professor it very good at explaining the concepts of each topic of the class. I worked so hard throughout the semester getting the labs done by participating with groups to learn about it. I recommend this professor to others because lectures a well-organized especially his PowerPoints.
He provides very clear & organized lecture notes; make sure to refer back to them often. Do the practice problems in the notes. DON'T be late. Encourages critical thinking. Don't be frustrated if you don't get all the material right away. Come to his office hours with any questions or concerns, he always does his best to help you get the material.
Difficult, but manageable if truly dedicated. I have never studied for hours straight in my life until this class, so definitely be prepared to spend your days studying/reviewing classwork. Attendance is mandatory so don't even think of missing one day because there goes your grade! Dr. A is a strict professor, but a great teacher! Would recommend.
Dedicate a lot of time for studying. Has online homework and worksheet for each chapter + a quiz after finished chapters. Has 4 exams + final. He drops lowest quiz, worksheet, homework, and lab experiment but dedicate time for studying to succeed! Provides lecture notes but attendance is mandatory. May be intimidating at first but is very helpful!
Amazing professor. He WARNS everyone that this class needs a minimum of 15 HOURS of studying outside of class per week. Some weeks, I would study more than 15, and this is with reading the Textbook, homework, prelab, lecture notes, and everything else. If you dont take it SERIOUS, U WILL FAIL. Strict in being ABSENT/TARDY, LATE ASSIGNMENTS =ZERO
This professor can be strict, especially on time There is chapters that I feel he could have simplified just a bit. There were times when lecture felt rushed too. For lab you must be ready with your prelab assignment, if not he will give you 15 to complete but he does take away half credit. For exam, he did help by telling you what to review.
Very helpful and passionate about what he is teaching. Engaged with students and will help if the student is willing to learn. Gives certain leniency with grading and motivates everyone to participate. Can not pass with out participation I would say. Labs are intriguing and an amazing way to apply our lectures. Highly recommend Dr. Alawdi.
He is very strict about being in late to class, this will affect your grade a lot! Study a lot even thought he said to study 15 hours study more! He is every straight forward with he class!
Be prepared to spend at least 12 hrs or more of studying He does not accept late work so make sure to stay on top of your schedule If your confused on some lecture stuff go to his office hours if not don't bother to email him because he will tell you to go back to your lecture notes Be prepared to stay the whole lab Gets bothered by distraction
Professor Alawdi is a great teacher that really goes an extra mile for his students. He gives out lots of homework, which conditions you very well for the exams, and the questions are very similar to those of the exams, so it's crucial to do all the HW he gives you not only as an assignment but also as good practice.
Make sure to always be to class on time because that is very important and don't miss classes. Really take the time to study and learn the material given. Don't fall behind because it's difficult to catch back up. Take advantage of the office hours he offers. Find a study group to help you learn and study for quizzes and exams.
If I could go back and restart the class here are five things, I would do differently. I would use my time more wisely reviewing the material. Make sure to pay attention to lectures. Create a schedule for my assignments. I would not procrastinate and get to it as soon as possible. Lastly, I would make sure, I have turned in my assignments.
If I could retake this class, I would utilize every resource available such as office hours and tutoring. I would also study the recommended hours per unit, not procrastinate, use study groups and stay on top of assignments. I would also advise to not miss any days if possible, missing a day in this class is crucial to being behind or not.
I recommend this professor to other students who is taking chem B11 because he is a nice and you can easily understand about the topic in the class as long you are paying attention to the class and always attend classes.
Make sure to manage your time for the pre labs
Be organized, study material
Took it over the summer. Very great Professor, Class is not too hard you just need to really study & dedicate your time, do not procrastinate. Do not fall behind or miss any lectures or lab. He also offers extra credit just participate as an overall class.
This teacher is strict but in a good way. I tend to procrastinate but he's not very lenient which forced me to get my work done on time. This really benefited me because I always made sure to do my homework and labs on time. Because of that I did really well in the class and I was very happy with my grade and how well I did.
He was a good professor very hard class but he made it more easier to understand.
Need prepare to read and study a lot because is a lot of information. Be punctual and don't take this class and summer if you don't make a time to study after lecture and lab.
Summer course, shorter and faster pace, somewhat of a tough grader, study time outside of class is very much NEEDED, study as you go through each chapter, tests and quizzes are all about lectures, stay on top of your work, every point matters, don't fall behind, take your time on your pre-lab, Pre-Lab information sheets are good study methods
I took this class during the summer and it was very condensed! The worksheets and homework were due the same day and sometimes even the lab reports! It s A LOT of information and all you can do is study study study. I'm sure during the fall everything would be spaced out but the summer is NOT for the weak.
Dr.A is passionate about chemistry and its shows in the way he teaches. The lectures and lab were well- organized. I learned a lot in this class , not just the material but what it takes to be a successful student in the future.
I took this class in the summer and it's definitely very heavy in its material. You really need to make time to understand the material and do the hw assignments. I will also say that if you ask a question from the material he expects you to already know it, even if you just need confirmation. Just don't take it personal.
I took this class over the summer and it is a heavy load material. Be prepared to study a lot while doing pre labs, worksheets and homework.
Dr. Alawdi truly cares about his students and is always willing to help. The course is lecture, homework, and test heavy, but it prepares you well for future bio classes. Start strong and use office hours or tutoring if needed. I'd take him again!
I took this class in summer, Alawdi is a good professor, loves his job, he can come off as scary especially when asking questions but just do it, workload is a lot, a lot of assignments due every week. Strict about dress code and will dock off points for even the littlest mistakes you have to attend every lecture to really understand the material.
Dr A loves chem. He gives lots of details and knows his material. You must study and you must be in class. If you miss a lecture you'll be confused. His lab summaries are great.
Do not be afraid to ask questions. Stay on top of your studies. I recommend signing up for tutoring as soon as the class starts and joining a study group. There are no off days when taking this class. Workload- a lot, only if you fall behind. He is really good at storytelling to help you understand more complex lesson. Lock in.
This class was great, allowed great relationship with professor and student. The class is made up of online homework, lab reports, and quizzes for every chapter. Exams are multiple choice and 5 free response questions. His grading is very clear and tiny errors like units matter. The professor is great and you are given note packet to fill in.
He sets super clear expectations of the class. Took over summer so assignments were daily but they really helped with quizzes and exams. Be on time and prepared Lectures are informative he is really knowledgeable and explains things well. Make sure to participate in lecture. Overall a great class. Dr A is funny and truly cares about his classes
Dr. A was overall a good professor he makes his expectations for the class very clear from day one and while that's not everyone's cup of tea I personally did not mind it. He offers a couple extra credit points through participation in the class and DOES keep track of attendance so keep that in mind before skipping class!
Be prepared to take a note and write supper fast. Please if your first language is Spanish don't take the class in summer class is duper heavy.
He was overall a good professor, I took it over the summer so everything was crammed. The amount of work you put in, will determine your grade, so I recommend studying. He did gave extra credit opportunities for the exams if you participate during the lecture. Attendance is mandatory, so don't miss it! As long as you study you'll be fine.
The class is very fast paced over the summer, which is expected for five credits in eight weeks. Overall not too bad, a lot of assignment. Be ready to dedicate a lot of time. He does dock points off for minor mistakes so be very mindful of units and such. He's very strict on assignment deadlines but offers a lot of extra credit so that makes up
Dr. A is a well-rounded professor. He genuinely wants to see his students succeed if they put in the effort and form a connection, ensuring he provides everything needed for them to pass, as well as holding them accountable for what they put towards the class. Take the class seriously from the moment you step in because it requires a lot of work.
This class is a lot it was to fast paced for me. Teacher is a strict grader but does offer some extra credit opportunities.
Dr Alawdi is a good professor. He may come off as scary at first but he is straight forward person. He is a tough grader so every detail counts. The experiment introductions are very informational and useful for exams and quizzes. He does not accept any late work so make sure to always check the course schedule. Attendance is mandatory.
Great professor, the class is lecture heavy so it's always best to attended all his lectures if you want to stay on top of the work and pass. Personally I though it was a fun class, there was a good amount of homework but it helped to get an understanding of the course work. You also need to make sure you have the time to study.
Chem is a hard subject in general. Requires a lot of study time and dedication
Overall great professor, he makes his high expectations of the class clear from the beginning and sticks to these expectations. The class can be fast-paced and heavy at times, but he truly gives you all the resources (lots of practice, etc.) you need to help yourself succeed in the class, as long as you're willing to put the time and effort in.
This class is difficult, and there is work to do in the class, like hw, worksheets, pre labs, in labs, post labs. Those aren't that hard but they are time consuming. In this class you are going to need a lot of grit if you want to pass. Professor isn't bad, he explains things well, but can be exhausting in almost every aspect during class.
Don't miss any lectures you will have a hard time catching up Commit at least 12hrs of studying. His chapter piggy back one another so make sure you understand a chapter before you move on to the next cause you will have a hard time understanding.
I took this course during the summer, a lot of assignments but it is doable. The quizzes are pretty straightforward nothing. The exams are challenging but extra credit is offered, exam questions are challenging but studying helps. Overall it was a good course nothing impossible and the professor is great at his job.Lectures are elaborated greatly.
i took this class during summer and it was very time consuming! it will take most of your summer because of all the studying ! it's a 5 unit class so you know what you're getting yourself into. 4 exams. 1 cumulative final. 16 quizzes. 22 lab reports. 16 worksheets. you'll do fine if you put the time and effort into the class.
This class is what you expect from a 5 unit class with lots of work and much more studying time after that. The professor helps a lot by checking in with the class on how they're feeling every so often. He also makes the homework like a study resource so sometimes doing the homework will help you get the concept with little to no studying
I took this class during the summer, so already the material learned is more rapid than a regular semester. He explains things very well, but quickly. Make sure you are paying attention in all of the lectures because it gets difficult very fast. Also, do every lab and worksheet and homework because it adds up!!
Dr. A was a GREAT professor. He gave super good opportunities for extra credit, and as long as you follow along with him, and actually put in the work to study out of lecture and lab you will be fine. He does give a good amount of work outside of class like, pre/post labs, worksheets and homework but they help SO MUCH.
Overall a good professor just a little impatient sometimes during lectures. Very insightful lectures with good analogies and examples.
This professor is really great if you're really interested in learning the material; cause he'll make sure of as much. Take this class if you want to be taught the material; if you hold up your end as a student you'll learn the material. It's like magic! Missing a lecture is disorienting, though—so please focus on having good attendance.
Good teaching style, clear lectures, and fair, well-defined grading criteria.
He has very good lectures, he gives clear explanations and examples during his lecture and the students will follow along and fill in a packet that he provides for them. Labs are good, he provides a lab packet and gives clear instructions on what to do. Sometimes he can be a little impatient with time in the lab but overall he is a great professor.
Dr. Alawdi is a professor who demonstrates a clear knowledge of the course material, and is super helpful when it comes to asking questions and clearing up misunderstandings. He has a set expectation of you and if you fail to meet those expectations he may come off as harsh, but as long as you keep up with class, especially lecture you'll be good.
ChemB11, in general, is a hard and heavy class itself, especially if you struggle with math and science. I would recommend this professor just because he goes over the material well, as well as the labs. I will say he is a bit impatient in lecture and lab.
Lectures in this class are really good!! However, I did dislike that we had 3 hours of lab time and were timed and rushed. We use Aktiv for homework and personally I didn't like it. I don't think it helps much in understanding the material but that might just be me. The worksheets on the other hand were so helpful!!
This class can be tough if you struggle with math, but his lectures are clear and he tells you exactly what he expects. In labs he can be harsh and impatient, which made me feel anxious every time. Still, if you keep up with lectures, study, and do your part, you'll be fine.
Professor A was an excellent professor who really knows how to teach chemistry clearly. If you want a professor who is going to ensure you understand the material and give you honest and blunt feedback, take professor A.
He's a good teacher, he teaches well. He's tough when grading. He's kinda funny. My classmates say he's like a teddy bear idk.
Professor A always gives amazing and blunt feedback. If you want a professor who is going to prioritize your success in the class take this professor.
This course itself is heavy on its own, and the professor is decent teaching-wise. However, my only complaints about this professor are that he tends to make snarky comments in class, such as, "Some of you should've dropped while you can," and "I'll see some of you again next semester." I found it discouraging to say to your students.
Professor A is a great professor to take for this class. His expectations are clear, and he gives us enough resources to do well. However, mid-semester, Professor A switched the way we do labs, which made labs feel uncomfortable and made my classmates and I feel anxious. He rushes/ takes away our lab time to work on an assignment for the next lab.
This class is what you expect from a 5 unit class with lots of work and much more studying time after that. The professor helps a lot by checking in with the class on how they're feeling every so often. He also makes the homework like a study resource so sometimes doing the homework will help you get the concept with little to no studying
He's a very good professor, knows how to teach and doesn't just read off PowerPoint but he is a very harsh grader when it comes to labs and exams but I believe it will only make u work harder when it comes to studying which in the end benefit you!
Professor Alawdi is a good professor and he would explain lectures really well. However, around mid-semester in labs, he would start to rush us even though we had like 3 hours to work for the lab. Sometimes he may also bring your confidence down with his comments.
This is my first time taking chemistry, and I will say this, the professor teaching makes it so understandable and easy to learn. There is a lot of homework and assignments but there are so useful for your learning. Attendance is mandatory and studying as well. He is a tough grader and sometimes rushes us on lab.
Alawdi is a good professor, loves his job, he can come off as scary especially when asking questions but just do it, workload is a lot, a lot of assignments due every week. Will dock off points for even the littlest mistakes you have to attend every lecture to really understand the material.
Great professor, makes lectures fun. He gives out extra credit randomly for answering questions or participating, but there's no assignments to gain extra credit. Homework and worksheets which are basically like homework as well due every week. Homework can be up to 50 questions. Overall good, doable class if you put the work in by studying.
Professor Alawdi is very thorough and straightforward in his teaching style, it is on you as a student to actively follow the course material. If you can't keep up with course or have attendance issues you will most likely struggle with the course. Good time management is the best piece of advice I can give for any of his would be students.
Professor makes comments in class that can come off as rude and degrading, thinking it;s funny. He takes away our lab time and rushes us, which causes many people to perform poorly on labs. We have 3 hours, but rather us wait in line for 30 minutes to check off each part of the lab and also work on something else that isn't even due that day.
The Professor switched up mid-semester on us students by not allowing us to work together on our labs in the lab. At the beginning of the semester, he was encouraging us to double-check with classmates and ask classmates for help when needed. Then he told us we weren't allowed to do so and wouldn't let us communicate or ask for help in the lab.
Professor A really loves his job, and he makes it known. He does little check-ins in class and really teaches in lecture. However, he doesn't really offer extra credit; only about 10 people get it by answering questions in class if you're selected, and that's all. He also doesn't allow us to work together in lab anymore as well as rushes the lab.
This class is very heavy on the workload. You have quizzes that range from every other class to every class, online homework, and worksheets due every week. No extra credit. Labs felt rushed, even though we had 3 hours. Your grade is mainly exam-based. Professor A does check in with his students and is willing to help students.
This professor can be strict, especially on time There is chapters that I feel he could have simplified just a bit. There were times when lecture felt rushed too. For lab you must be ready with your prelab assignment, if not he will give you 15 to complete but he does take away half credit. For exam, he did help by telling you what to review.
Do your pre lab before you come to class!!! Also, try to do as much of your in lab and all your post lab at home since he will take away your lab time. This will help you not get points off for not finishing since he will rush you and take your lab time away from you.
Don't miss any lectures, you will have a hard time catching up. Commit at least 12 hours of studying. His chapter piggy back one another so make sure you understand a chapter before you move on to the next cause you will have a hard time understanding.
Professor A is a good teacher, he explains the lecture's materials in a clear simple way. There are a lot of homeworks and assignments. Attendance is mandatory. The labs are full of work to do in a specific time that he rushes on us. I wish that he could offer us an extra credit questions in quizes and exams.
Professor Alawdi is truly one of the best professors I have had. He tells you exactly what he expects from you in the class and there are no surprises when it comes to the exam. There are 5 exams throughout the semester, including the final. He really makes sure you are prepared for exams as best as he can. I highly recommend taking this class!
Professor A is a very good professor, he does care about his students and gives feedback when needed. He is really good at lectures for sure, and he is a very smart and straightforward person so be ready for that. Assignments, quizzes, and homework are manageable enough time is given to complete those assignments well.
Proffesor A is a really great professor who truly loves his job. He gives us all the materials we need to be sucessful in his class and helps prepare us for exams. He also works hard on giving us back our exam scores asap.
Professor Alawdi's is an awesome teacher and his lectures are understandable. I like how he grades quizzes and exams very quickly compared to other professors. This class consist of weekly quizzes, worksheet, online homework, lab report, snd exams which can be demanding but it's doable if you put the time into it and not procrastinate.
I would recommend Professor A for CHEM B11. He can seem intimidating, but he truly wants students to succeed. The class is tough but doable. He takes attendance and drops the lowest HW, worksheet, quiz, and lab. Be careful in lab and make sure to do your prelabs, finish on time, and start post-labs early if you can.
The professor makes comments at students, such as see you again next semester or you should've dropped this course. Professor also takes away lab time which makes many people not have enough time to finish. Doesn't allow students to work together in lab.
B11 is a challenging class on its own, but Professor A does a great job of informing students about what they need to know for exams. You'll have homework and worksheets due every week and many MANY quizzes. There aren't any extra credit assignments, but the professor does drop your lowest grade in each category.
Alawdi is a great professor to take for CHEMB11. He is dedicated and truly enjoys what he does. He does little check-ins in class and gives us all the materials we need to succeed in this class. I would say the only downside of this class is that he rushes our labs, which can be stressful. So do as much of your labs at home!
Be prepared to do a lot of work and studying to succeed in this class. Professor A will give you everything you need; however he is a tough grader and will take off for any minor thing. Make sure your methyl's and ethyl's long (Organic chem portion)
Professor Alawdi is a great at providing examples and having everyone understand the material. He gives homework and other resources that help you understand the lectures. I will say that he goes through the lecture fast, but it'll only get faster towards the end of the semester so be prepared
Professor A has been one of the best Professors I've had. He is very caring and pushes his students to pass. He's willing to help you as much as possible for you to understand the material.
The course was tough but that should be expected since it is a 5 unit course. The professor covered all materials. He is a tough grader, but he did give partial credit. The professor was straightforward.
One of my favorite professors, super funny. Grades quickly and is easy to approach.
He is passionate and truly wants you to understand the material. Don't be afraid to ask questions; he is more than willing to answer them. tough grader, clear on expectations, and recognizes efforts made in class and in learning the material. Attend lectures and labs.
Dr. Alawdi has high expectations for his students, because he's teaching critical subjects. However, he is very fair when it comes to grading and expectations. Attend every lecture and lab and turn in every assignment. Participate and have a good attitude. He is very helpful during office hours. Put in the time to study and you will pass.
great prof & teaching. curriculum was a lot but he gives all the information in the notes. READ THE LABS! they're great reviews/practice of each chapter & he appreciates if you thoroughly go over them. always happy to explain if u dont understand. STUDY and you will pass!
Overall, I enjoyed this class and learned a lot. Professor A does a very good job at explaining and the homework, lab manual and worksheets all greatly helped with my understanding. He also grades fairly and does his best to answer any questions you may have. The only aspect of this class that I did not really enjoy was that the labs were timed.
Professor A. has clear expectations and wants you to learn. He also gives decent lectures and engages with class. A thing that made that class worst then it should be was him constantly cutting lab time. He also is a strict grader and doesn't offer a lot of feedback on stuff you get wrong.
He expects a lot from his students but it's understandable considering how good he is at explaining what he teaches. He's very knowledgable, he makes his lectures interesting, and you will learn a lot from him. He gives clear feedback and he does it fast. Overall a very competent professor and would definitely recommend him to anyone.
Dr. A is a great instructor. Great lecturer with clear expectations. Heavy but beneficial workload. He is knowledgeable and passionate about chem, which can make him come off as impatient with us at times. However, he is always willing to help and encourages us to keep trying. Tough subject but you'll be fine if you show up and put in the work.
Attendance is very important (and mandatory) for lecture and lab. There is online homework and a worksheet due once or twice a week, depending on when the chapter is completed. There is a lab experiment almost every session. He encourages questions and feedback in lectures and labs.
Professor Alawdi was interactive during lecture, I learned more sitting in the front than I would've if I sat in the back of the class, homework the day after he is done lecturing the chapter, with small quizzes on every chapter. He gives us study guides that are useful and really wants you to succeed, but he still leaves it up to you to prepare
This class is difficult but Dr. Alawdi knows how to get students to engage during his lectures and labs. He is funny and knows how to tie back his personal stories to chemistry which helps you think about it in a different way. The workload is heavy especially towards the end of the semester. As long as you study and work hard you should pass!
This professor is a good professor, and I would recommend him to people wanting to take the class. One thing to note about this class is that participation matters a lot; if you are not prepared to talk about the topic he will stop talking and make you finish by yourself. He is straight forward, and tells you everything, so there is no surprises.
Don't take this class if you're not willing to dedicate most of your time to studying and homework. He provides a lot of resources that help you to really understand the material; he gave us a lab Manual that he created himself a packet of all the chapters to take notes that included study guides and worksheets and which was super cool. He's cool
Professor was actually really good when it came to lecture because he cares about what he does but he is very strict in grading. He will take points off simple mistakes even if answer is correct. Make sure you have enough time to dedicate to this class because it is very time consuming. He also takes lab time so work ahead if possible!
Dr. Alawdi is a great professor, he is oftentimes very enthusiastic about his lectures and encourages his students to participate while he lectures. The lab manual is something he made himself and is provided to you by him, as well as homework that will only be helpful as practice for your exams and quizzes.
Professor Alawdi is very straightforward and clear about his expectations. There is a heavy load of homework and assignments to take advantage from to learn material. Most importantly, attend lectures and labs. Although he provides you with everything you will need, it is 100% on you as a student to stay on top of it all or you will struggle.
Overall a great professor that's very passionate about chemistry. Grading and test wise are a bit on the harder side since he has high values for everyone entering chem, expectations are to perfection. Tons of homework, worksheets, etc but they help with studying. Feedback could be better during labs when questions are asked. Challenging class.
He does expect a lot from you, although his class is very helpful and he does give us enough to prepare for our exams but I do also think he gives us too many exams for a semester I think 4 exams would have been enough but we have 5 exams. Overall it is a difficult class and you really need to study everyday to keep up with his class.
He is a great professor and makes lectures fun but be ready to do 16 worksheets, 16 homework assignments, 22 lab experiments, there are 15 quizzes, four exams and one cumulative final. I'll admit he does want all his students to succeed so if you talk to him he'll gladly help you.
tough class as long prepare to study, he encourages all his students to pass very helpful
He's a good professor explains material well but expect heavy studying. DON"T MISS LECTURES! He speeds up near the end to cover everything. So it's best to split lecture/lab days if possible. Avoid taking this class early especially if you work nights, learned the hard way. Take this with lighter courses, also take this before Bio B32 helps a lot.
This class is definitely tough, but Professor Alawdi explains things clearly and really wants all his students to succeed. I'd recommend attending his office hours as they were very helpful throughout the semester. Great professor overall.
He is a tough grader because he wants to make sure we succeed and not make the same mistakes over and over again. Attendance is definitely a must. If you have a busy schedule that will keep you from attending class for more than 2 or 3 sessions, then get ready to do the biggest catch-up. But overall, he cares and wants you to pass his class.
Deadlines are strict and you must hold yourself accountable throughout this entire course. This class essentially forces you to develop good study habits if you want to do well. Professor A will push you hard but because he knows you are capable. Awesome professor that is passionate about his work. DO NOT MISS LECTURES! Study during the weekends!
