This guy is a joke... he is old, cranky, and needs to retire. Not to mention, he is unhelpful and impossible to understand.

He's hilarious! Took a class i didn't need cuz he was teaching it! Very entertaining.
Accent, but has clear points and relates topics to personal life. Has a lot of "friends" and tells many stories about them
He is the worst professor I have ever had. He doesn't care if his students understand the material. He has the worst accent ever; and I wouldn't take another class of his if you paid me to. Plus, more then half his class fail. That can't be good.
The worst teacher I have ever had in my life. The is old, cranky, mean, hard to understand, and just doesnt care about his students. His tests are very hard and he is BORING!! Do not take this class.
He may not always be easy to understand but he has a great sense of humor. If you are a person who isn't capable of understanding people with slight accents then don't take his class.
Whatever you do do not take this professor. You will not learn enough to understand unless you have already taken other lower level bio classes. Listen to the negitive reports he is a horrible teacher. Knows material but cant teach to save his life.
Most condesending professor ever. If you are in elementary school and have no concept of anything, you will appreciate this class. If you want ot learn anything and advance your knowledge for future classes, stay away.

You must study A LOT in order to pass in his class! I would not recommend taking him but if you can't avoid him, then take really good notes and go to class everyday in order to pass his tests...if you do that then you should get a decent grade.
Well, I'm not going to lie. He is not an easy A. If you are one of those students who take a class for an easy A, this is not for you. However, if you do want to learn a thing or two about Bio, this is the only professor who can teach you something.

Dr. Kaposhian was a pretty hard teacher, but he taught me so much. You really have to work for your grade. He is very fair with his grading, he curvers the whole class. He has a great sense of humor. I personally really liked him and his teaching style.

Not an easy A but one of the best teachers in CSUN. Funny and class is interesting. Tests are straight out of the notes, so show up to class everyday, take good notes, study, and you'll probably get an A. Also gives out study guides!!
he is a funny man but... be carefull, he is mean when it comes into discussing your grade and his exams will be terribly hard, DO not take him, he is very difficult to understand and hard grading.

Best teacher I've had. Not an easy A so if you expect to get a grade without earning it, this isn't the class for you. Other than that it is highly recommended you take him.
He yells at his students for no reason and makes you feel stupid when you really don't understand what he is saying!
For those of you bound for his class remember these phrases: Not in your life, you bet your last penny,-Mr.(followed by any descriptive word usually on what you are wearing-caps,colors,hair cut,shoes,name brand, glasses..ect. The guy is very clear and descriptive about the lessons. Easy grader.

He keeps on saying that if we have any questions to ask him, but when we do so... he start making the student look like a fool and screaming at us. He is just rude. He tries to motivate the students to ask questions but w/ his actions he does the opposite thing. What an A read, go over the notes.
This class is very interesting. The teacher will come off as intimidating and he will put you on the spot to answer the question. Read your notes and pay attention and you'll be fine.

HAHA this guy is so nuts. he walked into class every day with a mean face and was never happy unless he was yelling at someone. "You bet your life." his fav. words. i always got A's on test cuz i just did the study guide, but i think the class avg was around a C- or D.easy if ur not a dumb ass.

He is hilarious when it comes to making fun of other students. He has so many catch phrases and it is quite funny with his very heavy accent. Tests are hard and his lectures are meaningless because you could truly skip class and just read the book and do better

This class will have u rolling on the floor from laughter! Prof. has anger-management issues but teaches very basic physiology. If u go to class everyday & take notes u will have an easy A. He also gives study guides for his exams way in advance. If u get an A on the 1st two exams, u don't have to take the final.
he is very unclear and figures that everyone should know everything abot biology before taking this stupid GE course. if you ask a question, he makes you look very stupid. be prepared to get called on EVERY CLASS!! not for someone who is shy and sits in the back...that is who he calls on first! horrible.
BEST TEACHER EVER
Really hard to understand what he was saying. He told a long story about diving for rocks off the coast of Lebanon. It made absolutely no sense and wasn't related to the subject at all, but he took about 20 minutes of class time doing it. Often insults students who aren't paying attention or don't know an answer to a question.
I hated this teacher. He has a SERIOUS anger-management problem. When you ask him a question, he looks at you like he wants to kill you, and then he insults you. The exams are impossible to pass, and the subject is boring as hell.
this guy totally sucks. his test are so-so, but can be hard. most people avg C-D- You can't understand him for crap, "crazy things" is what he likes to say. sometimes I think he has "crazy things" in his mind. he makes you hate bio to some extent. he's no jeff corwin if thats what you're looking for. -also, he tells very looooong boring stories.

Absolutely the worst teacher at CSUN. Knows the material but cant TEACH to save his life. Spends too much time critizing and making fun of students. Avoid this class at all costs. Lectures make no sense the tests are hard and makes you wonder did he really cover this in class. Best bet is to read the book and even then good luck!

Not half as bad as people say, pretty easy going, kinda humorous, tests are not too hard, gives a study sheet before each test and if you get above the class avg on tests he curves.
Wastes time telling stupid stories, mediocre knowledge of the subject, half the time he’s not covering anatomy, will cover whole chapters in one class period, tests are not difficult just not pertaining to lecture, lab is hard because he cant teach anatomy. he’s just so angry, he needs a hug…
He's not all that bad... he has a heavy accent, calls on students (and at times can make them feel dumb)... but everything he does helps you remember the material. i DID NOT read, got c's and d's on all the tests, and got a B in the class. he curves a lot, and attendance will help you out a lot.
I honestly loved this teacher. Out of all the teachers I've had at CSUN, he'll be the one I remember. I was just so entertained in his class. I would sit there with a dumb grin on my face the whole time because of how funny he was. Just remember, if he asks you a question and you don't know the answer, just say "Why not?"

He seriously not that bad, he is quite funny and entertaining. He seems like he is mad most of the time, but thats just the way he is. I recommend: go to class, take good notes, and study the study guide. I didnt use the book at all. Just dont ask dumb questions, he will make you look dumb for asking it. If you need help ask him after class instead
I think that most of the people rating this guy are in a serious need of a sense of humor. He isn't the worlds best teacher, but he curves like crazy... So if your smarter than the guy next to you, youre going to pass. Be a professional, and he'll leave you alone. If you are acting like an idiot, he will come down on you. Study! This is a sci class

He's really not THAT bad. I wasn't completely enthusiastic about this class; it's pretty boring at times. Just your usual "listen & take notes" kind of class.
i agree he curves super crazy.. which helps alot and i did learn alot from his class. like if u try ur best then of course u will do it like ppl saying rude comments are the one who over slept and never came to class till the final....
I attended every single class but he sort of just mentions the subjects we will be tested on. On some topics he goes into more depth and helps you understand how it works. but reading the txtbk was most informative/helpful. In lectures he just let me know what topics to cover and then I learned the detail 4rm the book.Not bad.Definitely Passable!!
Class really wasn't that bad. His accent is hard to understand sometimes. I never once opened my book. I went to every class and I am doing well in his class, you just have to go to the class where he passes out the study guide for each exam.
i really like him as a person, but not the class...he's not the best professor. passable if you plan on devoting all your time to the class, but don't take him if you have the option
Avoid if you can. His teaching style is old school with a chalkboard. Does not use power points. You don't really need the book if you can understand his long lectures and take good notes off it. Gives 3 tests, 1 regular, 1 mid term, and 1 final. He grades on an awesome curve so that you still have a good chance of getting a good grade. Good Luck.

his class was fairly diffcult to get the hang of. You absolutely need to attend class. He hard to understand & not very helpful. I would not recommend him to anyone. Wait to take the course w/another prof. becuz this one isnt worth the headache
Dr. K. is not that difficult to understand if you pay attention. His teaching style is pretty generic so if you can handle that then you're good to go. As long as you take acceptional notes and study you will do perfectly fine in his class. If you get an A on the 1st and 2nd tests then you don't have to take the final so work hard!
Horrible teacher! If you're looking for a bad grade or don't want to learn anything you should take this class! He makes you buy a 100+ text book and barely uses it. I would study for every test and still get a bad grade. Save yourself the trouble, don't take this teacher.
In order to pass this class it is MANDATORY that you actually keep up with the readings. Its better to read prior to class so you'll understand his lectures!!! Toward the end of semester he will randomly take attendance & give you 5pts extra credit (minus 1pt for every absence). Only 3 exams, THATS IT!!! So READ READ READ!!!! Or you prob wont pass!
He has a really thick accent and its difficult to understand him. He's always in a bad mood and he will call people out in class to answer different questions so its really important to know the material well. He also gives tests back in order from best to worst grade and he makes it obvious who did well and who did not. Take another prof if u can
The best thing to do is to actually show up to his class and take notes. His accent is thick but not too bad. He gives great examples to help the class understand a concept by connecting it to our lives. The book isn't necessary. Remember SHOW UP TO CLASS.
This is my second time having Kapoosh as my professor and it was a good decision. He always uses simple explanations then builds on it. Book is not required. Overall great class and awesome professor.
Dr Kapooshian is a horrible professor and should be fired. He uses projector slides as lecture notes which are very hard to see and read. he is very rude and is always angry. the class itself is easy, 2 tests and a final and no hw but i learned everything out of the book. going to class is a waste of time.
this professor is so straight forward, nothing conceptual at all. What you see is what you get, its an easy A, strict memorization is all it is. he never throws something youve never seen at you. take him and just memorize the shiit out of everything.

DO NOT TAKE CLASS.I was in a class of 140 and you could barley hear him!Strong Accent. He does not use the book. You have to read on your own time.Study guides help a little.He gives random attendance checks when he feels like it, reduces points if you're not there for them. I don't know what everyone is complaining about. Yes, his class is boring and his teaching method is a bit dated but if you pay attention to what he says and take notes, EVERYTHING he says is on his tests! Easy A. Especially during his review days. He literally gives you every answer. If you're fine with memorizing, take him.
Hes a little rough around the edges, but his lectures are simple and his tests are fairly easy and very straightforward. If you pay attention and take notes, and study from those notes exactly, you will be fine.
His class in general is boring, long, and informative. His lectures are somewhat interesting, but sometimes I can barely understand and hear him. He speaks low and has an accent. I got used to it. The test is based on the lectures so take good notes. He does give us a study guide, which tells us what is on the tests. You don't need to buy the book.
He was an ok teacher. Don't take the class if you are a visual learner because it is all lecture with a few things on the board & sometimes pictures--- NO POWERPOINTS! Sometimes his lectures are hard to understand so make friends so that if you miss something you can ask for the notes. E.C. if you dont miss class, you might fail if you dont show up
This class is crazy hard. It stinks he's the only one who teaches it. I recommend you take this class somewhere else, like a CC over summer. His lectures are so confusing, and it takes a while to get used to his accent. The book is your BFF, bc it explains everything he doesn't. You HAVE to show up, or you'll fail, but you'll hate every minute.
I took him for both 101 & 211. He is very straight forward. Test are based on lecture so no need for book. Old fashion of teaching. Hes strict but he is a good professor dispite what others say. Doesn't use powerpoints. But his lectures are easy to understand. Come to class or you would most likely fail. And test are super easy and straight forward

I was hesitant about this class with Haig but I am glad that i did. If you are looking for an easy class then take this class by all means. Haig is a great professor with a lot of experience and certainly knows what he is talking about. There is no homework. Only 3 tests; 2 midterms and 1 final. He also curves!
Make sure you attend every class and be on time. If you can get past his rudeness then you will survive his class. Be sure to take good notes because all exam questions come from them. Exams are pretty easy if you study the notes. He also curves your grade at the end of the semester!
Heavy accident and grumpy. He is an amazing professor for those who have the patience. Despite those obstacles, he is very knowledgeable. 3 Exams per semester, has surprise attendence and curves the tests.

Dr. Kapooshian knows his subject well and imparts it directly. He seems to strike people as harsh, but I got his sense of humor and enjoyed him. I don't need a cuddly professor; I really wanted to learn bio from a non-major class, and I felt like I got a great introduction to the basics. He loves questions in class. Grade was straight from exams.
