Posts great notes that tell you everything you need to know to pass, however, if you are a student who requires verbal teaching good luck. Accent is genuinely impossible to understand and as a result, there is 0 purpose of going to class. Make sure you go to labs as this is where tests are held

Taught myself the whole course with the help of a tutor due to the language barrier with this prof. Did not attend any classes as I was unable to understand him. Weekly quizzes and midterm were very fair, however I found the exam to be more difficult. Does not provide any practice questions which is crucial for learning a math course.

I had the course with this prof and TA moein yoosefi and I can confidently say a third world country may have better professor and TA's. The level memorial has stooped to save on paying for good TA's and professors is embarassing. They both speak completely wrong English and teaching style is very disorganized.

You can't understand what he is trying to say due to his accent and poor English. Only reason I am doing good in this course is due to Kismat- tutor I hired. Recommend self studying, getting help from youtube or hiring a tutor if you need to take him. There is no point in attending his boring lectures

He's willing to help you with any problems. Replies to emails in a snap. He has a super strong accent but understandable. The quizzes and exams are super similar to the practice problems he'd solve during his office hours. Overall, it's a moderate experience.

While dr Yang is caring and wants to help, Stats is hard and the Online course structure is difficult to follow. Also, half your final grade is based on 25 multiple choice questions. Get comfortable with R studio and consider getting a tutor.

Unfortunately Haiyan Yang cannot carry on a conversation in english. It's extremely difficult to understand anything he says. How he ever received tenure is beyond me. Admin has known about this for years, yet has done nothing. I'd recommend that you do an online course with a different university instead, and transfer the credits.

I had to take this course bcoz it was mandatory. When I read the reviews at rate my prof, I was so scared of this course. After taking this course I will say the prof is definitely really great. The course material itself is really hard and you need to understand stuff properly. He is caring and if you do his pratice q, it is an easy A. Great prof.

Haiyan Yang is probably a nice guy... however, I'll never know because I cant understand a thing he says so I'm not sure. His midterms and quizzes are fair but you'll need to teach yourself everything because you won't learn anything in his class without minoring in mandarin.

Good luck understanding him and his thick accent. Stopped going to lectures after first few weeks and hired a tutor-Kismat to teach me. The midterms and finals are very fair tbh and quizzes are not too bad either if you revise the chapter questions. Tip: Hire a tutor if you can or visit help centre often and hope someone who knows stat is there

Dr. Yang has a super thick accent which is hard to understand. The examples that he does on the board in class are not particularly helpful either. The exams and quizzes he gives are very fair and straightforward. To do well in this course, I recommend hiring a tutor and teaching the material to yourself. Also, learning to use "R" code is a must.

Dr. Yang is not proficient enough in English to be teaching. I am the only person that I know who did not use AI to pass his quizzes/exams. He is not accommodating at all. He relies too much on R, instead of teaching stats, he mainly teaches R-code. He is not confident in his own teaching abilities. The only positive thing to say is, he is nice.

Although Professor Yang has an accent, it doesn't affect understanding. There is a textbook, but his slides are sufficient for studying. The exams include question types similar to those founded in the quizzes and slide exercises. Professor is very nice, and student are allowed to bring formula sheet into the exams.

I am normally a straight A's student. I have never ever taken a course where I genuinely believe I have taken in nothing from until this. I normally have no issues with accents but I cant understand him. His handwriting is terrible. His slides are so packed you cant learn from them. Had to spend extra $600+ on tutoring because no PAL and still bad.

Dr yang's accent is the hardest barrier. while i don't like to hold that against him, if you can't understand what someone's saying, it can be hard to follow along. his lectures are good, and he gives a lot of examples. test were fair, and he does give part marks on the long answers. the course isn't hard, but a lot of individual effort is a must.

AVOID AVOID AVOID. Seriously, this course is hard enough as is, and with Dr Yang's language barrier, it is nearly impossible. Minimal examples, hard tests, very unclear about absolutely everything. Went from all A's to probably failing this course and I will say it is all because of him.

Dr. Yang makes this course 100x harder, Couldn't understand a single thing he was saying 90% of the time. Notes are near unreadable and straight out of the textbook. You will have to self teach this course if you take Dr. Yang. Seems like a kind person, but I recommend avoiding taking this class with him.

Run. With this teacher I also needed tutoring to even grasp what was happening. You will not understand him. Bad lab TA. The TA is extremely rude. Unorganized, just gibberish, would have dropped the course if it wasn't needed. So hard to focus in both lab and class because you won't know what's going on.

Like every other review here, Dr. Yang has an extremely thick accent. It makes the course more difficult. However, the examples in the notes are exactly what he put on the midterm/final or similar. The lab was extremely unhelpful and the TA was disorganized and only read off the slides with an equally heavy accent. However, both are very nice.

Yang cant speak fluent enough English to be teaching. This subject is difficult enough and the lack of good prof made this class miserable. There's a reason why several people took this course at cna to specifically avoid him. His notes wont help as they are a scribbled mess and barely eligible. Your best bet is outside sources to learn this course

very challenging to follow his lectures because of his accent, and the grading is based only on quizzes, a midterm, and a final, so there are no assignments to help improve your grade. I was able to get exactly 80 largely thanks to the tutor I hired, Kismat, whose practice questions were very very similar to what we could expect on the exams.
