This guy is a legend. Take him. He's the best
This professor is wonderful. He's does give quizzes, but they are extremely easy (just be sure to review the textbook). He gives study guides for the exams which are extremely helpful. The exam questions are straight from the textbook so that's nice. I know someone who took him for MATH 213 and they say he's also great at teaching that class.
He's one of the best math professors I've ever had. He's extremely helpful when it comes to tests and explains things perfectly. He really does genuinely care about us, the students, and the best part is he doesn't make homework mandatory (but you should still do because that's basically what the tests are based off of). Great professor!
Best math teacher I've had at George Mason. His tests are clear and easy as long as you do the homework in the class. I'd definitely recommend him to all my friends.
Professor Haja teaches the main concepts, gives clear study guides, and is always willing to explain if you're having difficulty. He's an amazing professor; you won't regret it.
If you have to take further math classes, I would avoid him for Calc 1 because his class is very easy compared to other professors. Light homework load, no quizzes in recitation, and tests are all off of homework assignments. But he really cares about each student and his class should be an easy A. Only take him if you don't need to go further.
Best teacher ever had. Tests are not very difficult. YOU WON'T REGRET IT.
The only thing you have to do to get a good grade in the class is the homework. Everything is done on mymathlab and it gives examples for every problem. Before each exam he would post a review and he allows cheat sheets. All you have to do to prepare for the exam is follow the review the base your cheat sheet off of what you don't know. Great Prof
He's a good professor. He explains concepts fairly well, and if you ask, he'll go over concepts you don't quite understand. Tests aren't too difficult if you do your homework.
Hard subject but Haja is a great professor, fairly clear lectures, puts notes on blackboard, tests are very similar to the homework and in-class examples. No curve, but if the average is kinda low he'll give an extra credit assignment. Attendance not graded, but unless you go take notes and copy his examples it will be hard to do well in the class.
Dr. Haja is a boss. He explains everything in simple terms so that everyone can understand the concepts. Gives hand written notes that beat the textbook. Allows cheat sheets on exams. Exams are similar to homeworks, so do your homework! The best math professor I have had at Mason so far. I hope I can have him in future classes. Funny and polite.
MATH 125 is not an easy class but Prof Haja explains the concepts simple with lots of examples. He is very helpful and polite. If you go thru the handouts he gives and do the homework you should get an A. He is the best prof at GMU
this class wasnt difficult at all but I didnt learn anything. He is not enthusiastic or passionate about teaching. If you are a CS major and want to take him for discrete, dont do it because discrete is an important class. Take it with someone who teaches you the materials
Discrete was a really hard subject for me. However, Proj Haja was very helpful. He really cares about his students and wants everyone to do well. He let us know exactly what was going to be on the exams. Homework was worth 20% which was an easy way to raise your grade. He also gave extra credit.
He is the best and easiest professor ever. Gives us a few homework problems, and they literally show up in the test
This guy had me laughing every class. He doesn't try to be funny but he is so awkward that it makes me laugh. His tests are pretty easy and you can always use a cheat sheet of one page. Final is cumulative but still is easy. He doesn't rush the material and shows plenty of examples in class which is REALLY helpful if you show up. Go to class!
Singl-ehandedly the best Calculus 1 professor. Very good at explaining material, gives plenty of notes, tests are curved and taken straight out of test reviews (some are even multiple-choice). A lot of online homework, however. Don't bother buying a textbook. Attendance is not even mandatory.
I never went to class except the first day and I managed to get an A-. As long as you do the homework and review the study guide he provides, the exams are really easy. He even allows you to use a cheat sheet. No textbook required.
Definitely take Haja. He is very clear, knowledgeable and understanding in the way he conducts his class. His office hours are extremely helpful and he will go in depth with any questions you have. He allows you calculators and a cheat sheet for tests and keeps you informed of test topics. Overall great choice for a professor, I highly recommend.
Absolutely!
Professor is good in explaining things. Uploads class notes on BB and easy to follow in class. Tests are all from HW and in class examples. Quiz every week in recitation and 4 exams. The only bad thing is you will never get an email answered.
Professor Haja uses the powerpoints provided by the textbook to teach the class. He assigns homework weekly but does not tell you when he assigns it. The tests come from the homework and he provides a review for the final that is similar to the exam.
Professor gives homework for you to practice but does not collect it. It is very important to do all homework, since this is good practice for quizzes and test. His lectures are clear and right to the point, he is very nice with students, one of the best professor at Mason for sure.
Dr. Haja is awesome, really! If you just put an ounce of effort in, you'll get an A. MML HW (doesn't take off for late submission) is your best preparation for exams, which are easy! He's a pretty funny guy too. My only warning is that if you are taking MATH114, Dr. Haja's class may not be enough to prepare you for Calc 2 with other Mason prof's.
This professor is very fair. However, I took him for differential equation, so the course was very difficult by nature. The good thing about him is that he posts all notes on blackboard for your convenience. Also, he really cares about students. He replaces one lowest exam grade if you final exam grade is higher. Overall recommended.
Great class! Lectures were good and quizzes and exams were all based off exactly what was covered in lectures and homework assignment.
Worst professor ever. His lectures aren't clear and he doesn't respond to email. I ended up skipping all classes except exams and was constantly looking at the textbook. Avoid.
a legend, show up , do your homework and everything should be fine
In general, Math 106 is a very easy course and you could get a good grade in it without going to class. In class, it is mainly just powerpoint slides and going over the problems in it. There are only 3 majors tests and homework. You are graded on nothing else which means you have to try your best on these tests and do all the homework.
Lots of HW but u must do them since they are the key to get good grades in explain , professor tests are fair. aAlthough its not mandotary to attend but u should go if u want to pass with a good grade.
Very helpful. His exams were just like the homework.
Awful!
He is an awesome professor.
Nice guy, boring lectures. Since he doesn't take attendance, most people didn't go. There's online homework and 4 tests.
Not a big fan of Math but this professor made me love this class. Even though the lectures were boring, they were helpful. People skipped classes and showed up to take the test. He definitely teaches the material well. Easy online homework weekly. I would take him again.
Took him for 214, upper-level math classes are usually hard, if u go to class, he explains each problem in details. we had quizzes are four tests including final. Fair Tests. Would def take a class with him again
I highly recommend Dr. Razafinjatovo. He is very helpful and patient during office hours. His exams and quizzes are very fair as they are exactly like the homework assignments. As long as you make sure you know how to do all the homework problems and revise them often, you will do well in his class.
Professor Raza was a breath of fresh air for my second attempt MATH 214. He creates his tests based on homework and in class problems, and there's no surprises. He was very fair in his grading, and was very receptive to questions in class. If you have to take MATH214, take professor Razafinjatovo at all costs
Prof Haja is a solid choice. Having taken calc ab in high school already, this class was a breeze, and Haja just helped built onto the knowledge that I already had. Sometimes he is hard to understand because of his voice and can go on tangents sometimes but also he can be pretty funny too. Tests are really easy if you know what you're doing.
Professor Haja does a decent job explaining concepts and goes over the material with plenty of practice questions during lectures. He can be funny and is pretty laid back in terms of marking off points for wrong answers. I recommend him for Math 113.
This is a fast paced course. He assumes that everyone has taken AP Calc before. pay attention in the week before exam youll do fine. PRINT OUT THE STUDY GUIDES!! His handwriting is bad at times. Hes pretty nice and at times makes the class fun. Would only recommend if youve taken a Calc class before. You get to use a piece of paper for formulas.
I cannot explain how much I have enjoyed Haja's teaching style. He makes learning math so easy! I had him for both linear algebra and diff eq. If you get the chance to take Haja do it! His notes are very easy to understand, you will never learn pointless information. Tests are straightforward from homework or the study guide. Great guy, very caring
I took this class because he had some of the better reviews compared to other professors. It didnt live up to my expectations (primarily taught off slides that contained textbook material, hard to read handwriting, doesnt elaborate, etc). Basically taught myself this class but the few examples done in class were helpful.
Haja has been one of the best professors I've had. I came into the class fearing calculus 3 after how hard calculus 2 was but Haja taught it so well that it was a walk in the park. Stay on top of the work, do your homework on time and you should get a respectable grade
People who give this guy a bad rating clearly havent tried calc 3 with another professor. This guy is the best. The lecture style really helps you understand what concepts are important and whats going to be on exams. He posts practice exams as well which are very close to the actual one. He's the best option for calc 3 and any other math course.
Haja , is the best professor in the Maths department , he accepts late work but deducts marks as in submitting late and he takes good care of the student and he understand life issues that may happen to a student , He is so respectful , Of course i would take another class with him
Took him online this summer and he was amazing. Helped with homework and recitations were always recorded. Practice exams similar to actual exams.
Prof Haja is not that good and I'm not sure why he has so many good reviews. He RARELY posts the notes on bb and speeds through slides with no time to write anything. His handwriting is terrible and he doesn't explain things well and he rarely answers his emails. Only thing that helped were the practice problems he did. Avoid.
Prof Haja is one of the better professors at GMU. Even though it can be self teaching at times, online school doesn't make it any better. He grades better than other professors, and his tests are similar to MyMathLab/Notes (basically he gives you the problem, and not concept like Sachs). I enjoyed his class, and wish he was doing Calc3!
I honestly love this professor, really good at going into great detail on a topic. He also lets students use notes on exams, and the exams are really straightforward. He is understanding and will extend deadlines if necessary. Take him, you won't regret it!!
Professor Razafinjatovo was a great instructor, I took him over the summer and the class wasn't that bad. He thoroughly explained all of the concepts and recorded lectures. His practice exams were similar to the test which was very helpful! There was quite a bit of homework but you have unlimited tries. Don't have to show up to class or recitation.
His lectures make no sense. He does not even teach the material he is showcasing. He just does the problems and goes there you go, and moves on to the next problem. He even grades you wrong if you complete the problem a different way. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!
If you want a simple class for MATH 203, take him. His exams are based heavily on the review guides. Other than that, this guy is HORRIBLE at teaching. He's irresponsive to emails, posts lecture material late (literally 2 days before exam), has extremely long and boring lectures, reads off of the lecture slides, has horrible handwriting.
He is one of the best math professors at GMU. His lectures albeit are dry and is a little unorganized, but is understanding. His tests are very straightforward and simple. As long as you can do the hw you will be fine on the test. But its still a calc 2 course so you still need to put in work.
Highly recommend Prof. Razafinjatovo The tests are a lot like the homework and quizzes so use those to study (and he also provides study guides). Lectures can be boring at times, but he really wants you to succeed so if you ask questions he will do his best to clarify.
The homework assignments through pearson are a lot but it is worth it to be honest, the tests are a big chunk of the grade but as long as you know how to do the homeworks you should be able to do well in this class.
Very unorganized, doesn't respond emails, late to deliver weekly lectures. This class is an easy A but for the wrong reasons. If you just want to get a good grade for Linear algebra and never look back, don't look further.
Professor Razafinjatovo is very nice and understanding. If you have issues he is willing to accommodate accordingly. He uses mathlab and it is useful with the material. There are a ton of assignments, but it only takes 3% per question that is late. If you do, you can still get a max of 97%. I recommend taking him, the tests are like his reviews.
Very super understanding professors. HW is on mymathlab and his tests are basically the same as his test reviews and he so makes sure to study those. Highly recommend this professor.
I want to give a word of warning to anyone who takes Professor Razafinjatovo. He will push you to the limits. Therefore I recommend you find the hardest practice problems you can find. No messing around with him.
Although the lectures can be boring, the class isn't bad by any means. Yes, it'll be hard for people who haven't taken calculus before, but if you utilize the math tutoring center and the recitation (attendance is 5% of your overall grade) then you'll be fine. The MyMathLab homework will prepare you for the exams, so study them with your life.
It wouldn't be easy to be in his class, but it is definitely worth it if you want to learn REAL mathematics and in the most 'clever' ways to solve problems. If you are a mathematics major don't miss him the way he teaches should be taught everywhere. try it with any other professor and i am sure you guys will regret it...
Haja has a remarkable skill to teach from the perspective of a student who knows absolutely nothing (me). Takes his time so you're never lost nor panicked, but can come off as boring (I dozed off a lot). If you do the homework and practice exams, you'll be able to do the quizzes and tests (can use a cheatsheet) with ease as they're fairly the same.
Goated professor, amazing lectures which go in detail and explain concepts really well, also good slide shows.
He is a fair professor and HW's/reviews are very similar to exams. Had a very organized Blackboard with all the slides. He also offers a lot of partial credit on exams, so show your work! Unlimited tries at HW was very nice. Allows for a front and back page cheatsheet on exams for formulas- very useful. Boring lectures, but that's just calculus.
Not my favorite. Very boring lectures. Not very accessible outside class. The tests being exactly like the homework was helpful.
His lectures are very boring; however, the tests are similar to the homework so study that as much as you can. Calc 2 is inherently hard, just put in the work and you'll be fine with Haja.
Overall, Haja wasn't a bad professor. However, his lectures are extremely boring and long (no breaks). Replaces lowest midterm with the same grade as your final (if better). Exams not too hard but not too easy. If you start a question wrong, most likely won't give credit for the entire question no matter what but does give partial credit for exams.
Awesome professor for MATH 213/Calculus 3. Graded by 2 tests, 1 final, and homework on MyMathLab. His tests were very fair and were very similar to the homework problems on MyMathLab. It is an easy class as long as you do homework and pay attention during his lectures. He covers everything and explains in detail. Take Haja for Calc 3 if you can!
I do not recommend taking this guy. First, long and boring 2 hour lecture, no breaks. His accent is hard to understand and he just keeps talks too much. 2nd, note slides hard to understand, worst handwriting. Posts them so late. 3rd, hard grader, takes points off everything even with work shown, must justify even the simplest answers. And no curve.
His lectures are just so boring and overcomplicated. If you are good at teaching yourself you will be fine because exams are like the homework, but the content is very difficult. He is not super great at explaining things so you are on your own.
He made Calc II pretty bearable. Exams were very similar to homework questions. Gave a decent amount of hw each week, but was good practice for the exams and quizzes. Lectures were sometimes dry, but were understandable. He had a slight accent when speaking, but wasn't undecipherable. Was a nice guy. PRACTICE hw and study guides and you'll do fine.
Had him over the summer, the tests were exactly like the homework. Not the most entertaining lecturer but he answers questions and is good at his job. Take him if you can.
Amazing Voice. Homework is frustrating. No Classwork Given. You could bring a Nintendo Switch to class and get away with it, even in the front row. You're allowed to bring a handmade formula sheet for tests. Make sure THAT SHEET makes sense! The first 3 tests are 50% of your grade. The final test is 20%. Bombing even one test will screw you.
Lectures are straight to the point and are accessible through Zoom recordings/video. You can bring a formula sheet to the exams and final exam score can replace a lower-scoring midterm exam score. Exams are very similar to the homework problems and has given old copies of the exam before to study. HIGHLY recommend this professor.
A great class to help you really understand Calculus. The professor offers a cheat sheet every exam and is understanding if you need an extension on exams. The homework is very time consuming so take time every day to do it. Lectures are engaging, the professor is great, and the content is easy to learn if you focus
Professor Haja, is a great mathematics professor in George Mason. I struggled in the beginning of the semester and realized I needed help or guidance. I went to Dr.Haja and explained what I was struggling with and he helped me out by guiding me on how to prepare better with his exams. He lets you make a cheat sheet; lectures are heavy, tho worth it!
Zoom Lectures weren't mandatory, and the slides and homework were useful for learning the content. Some of his tests felt difficult, but he was generous in giving points. The review guides were also useful.
Gave up and kept punishing the entire class only because of "suspected cheaters" instead of trying to find who actually cheated. Due to this, an exam (worth a lot of the grade) was made intentionally more difficult than it originally would have been. The lectures got less helpful as the semester went on as foundational topics were ignored.
One of the three goats of undergraduate math professors. Tests are accurate to what you practice for HW. Make sure to do the reviews he puts out too.
Guy's a legend. Do the HW and reviews before exams.
Not recommended if you aren't studying more then enough.
Professor Razafinjatovo is a great professor. He explains the material clearly and asks a lot of questions to make sure people understand what he is doing. His exams are very similar to the practice exams, and you get a note sheet for all of them. I would highly recommend taking his class.
I went the whole semester not attending class and I got a decent grade just by learning the material through the homework.
The professor gave up teaching half-way through the semester and from then the class became very difficult. The lectures slowly became worse in quality. The grading requirements are not clear which makes tests and homework very difficult. Homework is on this terrible program so be ready to do that all the time.
Total of 4 exams including final with weekly hw through a program you have to buy. The hw can be a lot at times but they help with practice. For exams, questions are similar to the hw/review but he allows a cheat sheet for each exam. I did calc in high school and found this course to be a nice refresher.
Very nice and laid-back professor. If you are good at learning on your own through the textbook then you will be fine (not to say his lectures aren't useful)
Great teacher! Make sure to do the homework because the questions are very similar on the test. He offers office hours and is committed to helping their students if they need it.
He's an alright professor. He's decent at explaining concept's, but his handwriting is odd at times. If you're not good at math, make sure you attend all lectures and do the homework for a thorough understanding. The first 3 exams are pretty easy. The final is cumulative and tough. This is his first time teaching this course and it shows.
As someone who came with Calc AB knowledge from high school, I taught myself the material again through the HW's (there are a lot so start early). However, Prof Haja is very laid back and pretty understanding so if you are okay with somewhat learning the material through HW/videos, you should be alright.
Took Calc 1 with Mr Haja at 7:20 pm, and I had a very hard time staying awake since the entire class was only him lecturing through powerpoints. The homework and quizzes he gave us (cengage) were good at letting me learn. Mr Haja is absolutely horrible at responding to emails, so expect a 2-3 week reply if any
He is pretty cool. was very clear that attendance was mandatory but never took attendance so it doesn't really matter. make sure you do the HW. I only went in once a week for the weekly quizzes, they're relatively easy(only 4-6 questions) and he's pretty laid back and lets you make them up. I recommend him, he's cool.
first weeks of the semester, he was so kind and kinda smily Prof, he also dont teach us greatly , his accent is terrible, and his tests gettingggg to much hard!!!!!!!! and he becomes rac*st for some specific regions on our class, hes not noticeably rac*st, but its toooo noticeable for me.
Solid prof.
I'm not into his lectures personally, so I watched a lot of organic chemistry tutor, but his homework is straightforward and he grades his tests giving many points back even if you got the answer wrong. Just show your work. I'd take him again if given the chance, but just know do a lot of self learning if you don't show up to classes.
Just horrible
Prof Haja is either a hit or miss. For this case he was good, I can definitely agree with others on the negatives. But the course felt easier, especially with the Exams. He formatted his exams based off his Cengage problems, and I copied some of the problems on cheat sheet and it worked and got me a A+. Make sure to copy formulas based off Cengage
Professor Razafinjatovo is an exceptional professor. This was an online class so he had pre-recorded lectures for you to watch in your own time and during class he would do practice problems. We had 2 tests which are worth 45% of our grade and the final was 25%. The tests are very similar to the practice on WebAssign. Overall solid prof
Prof Haja is pretty laid-back, but his lectures can be heavy. Homework takes time, so start early. The cheat sheet he allows is really helpful. unstuckstudy was a great supplement for Calc prep alongside the textbook. Overall, an engaging class if you stay on top of the work.
The class itself isn't horrible, but if you miss one class your screwed. He will NEVER respond to emails or any other form of communication and has a horrible canvas layout that makes everything 10x harder. Don't expect each week's homework to be on the material he covered in class.
Great professor!
Dr. Razafinjatovo is very chill and understands you well. He will make sure that he gives you a whole week to do the HW and the HW is online and it can sometimes be 9 questions or 20 questions long. He does make math look easy and makes sure to help you until you understand it. Exams are around 20-25 questions long. ADHD friendly
The lectures teach a lot and were able to get me through a large amount of the class. He spends a lot of time explaining concepts which can slow class down. The tests are easy so long as you do the exam reviews he posts since it is nearly one for one. My biggest issue is he sometimes rushes because of time and it makes some things confusing.
Professor Haja isn't the best. His lectures are a little bit unstructured, and don't really focus fully on what's most important for the exam or homework due that week. Same story with his study guides. If he's the only professor available, make sure to try really hard from the start. If he's not, then most other calc III profs would be better.
Overall great, laidback prof. I highly recommend. Class mostly based off cengage. Many times notes were not posted on canvas, so I attended lectures to take notes and for extra practice problems. Okay at explaining concepts in lectures, but it can be a hit or miss. Do all the HW and review to prepare best.
Dr. Haja has avoided the usual trap of math courses - falling behind and cramming material up to the final exam. Each exam is preceded by a full review session and followed by a post-exam discussion in the next class. He manages to cover every topic multiple times at a clear, steady pace, ensuring most students fully grasp the material. Amazing
This professor loves to teach and test really revolve around the homework, so please do your homework even though it can be a lot, but the teacher is great.
