The best Astronomy teacher at moorpark college. You would be crazy to take anyone else. Take notes, and pay attention to his test review, he goes over just about every question.
Great teacher. Fun class. You would be stupid to take any other teacher for Astronomy Lab.
He is very interested in astronomy and seems like a nice man. However, he sometimes lets class out after the scheduled time and easily gets irritated with those who do not share his interest in astronomy. The class is ridiculously easy.
Passionate about subject, wants to instill that quality in his students. Crams huge quantity of info into time alloted. Has pretest reviews on his own time! Encourages extra credit to raise both grades and personal knowledge.
ATTEND CLASS AND WRITE WHATEVER HE WRITES ON THE BOARD. STUDY YOUR NOTES. YOU WILL DEFINATELY LEARN FROM HIM.
Class is very easy if you study for quizzes and most importantly the two tests, which can be a bit difficult. But if your prepared, pay attention, and show up you are guaranteed an A. And remember: NO TALKING! Except at break. It's his pet peeve.
He is such a nice and happy teacher. He is passionate about what he teaches and does go past the time limit, but if all teachers were as nice and concerned about giving you the help to get an A....I would gladly stay late every night. Great teacher.
Take good notes and study them and you'll do fine in this class. I commend him for offering the pre-test review sessions. They helped me tremendously. Doesn't give a lot of homework, didn't make us buy the book... generally an all-round nice guy.
real cool guy. easiest class. i always laugh when i think about how he threw crappy (coyote)eye pieces all over the place. probably the only lab i've every enjoyed. i mean come'on, out late at night looking at stars w/cute classmates.
easy teacher. kinda weird but if you put up with that you will get a sure A in the class. oh yea take a jacket at night it is sooo cold when looking at the stars!!
The best class I have taken. I actually enjoyed going to this class. Mr. Jandorf is the best.
i took him for the lab and he was an amazing teacher. great teacher. makes it very fun.. good class to take with GF. would reccommend to anyone.
offers a lot of extra credit

Very boring. Keeps you pretty much till the last second. If you go to the reviews before th test, you dont need to take notes. If you want to be entertained dont take this class with him. Take Ron Wallingford for Astronomy, and Astronomy Lab. You'll actually be able to stay awake.
This was one of the best classes that I have ever taken. It is so relieving to have a teacher who actually enjoys teaching. If you take his class go to the reviews, they really help. He goes out of his way to make sure that it is intresting, and that people understand. I highly recomend this class!!
I was so relieved to have a teacher who actually enjoys their job. He has such a passion for the subject that you can't help getting excited with him. I highly recomend this teacher, he really does all that he can do to help you. Show up, take good notes, ask questions, and go to the reviews!!!!
Fun guy, makes it intresting. offers tons of extra credit, anough to go up a grade and a half. Makes it fun. Has review nights before tests, if you mess up this class you deserve to. Great guy, recommended!!
his lectures are boring. just go to the review sessions (he literally gives you the answers) and take the tests. he takes 3 hours to cover about 10 mins of material. he shows the same damn slides every week.
His lectures are NOT boring. They're entertaining, inspiring and often humorous. The professor spends his own free time on weekends to help students at the reviews. The slides are fascinating and vary greatly from week to week, you never know what to expect! The reviewer below is apparently a moron.

very boring class. but better than KLUTCH. just take notes and go to the reviews. the first section sucks hardcore. but the 2nd and 3rd are a lot easier..failed the first test, 2nd-got an A, 3rd-another A. ended with a C. i took the night class and he holds you for the whole 3 hours.
very good teacher. Reviews for test and tells you whats going to be on the test. You pick up on important material when he repeats it over and over. If you still dont get it,he reviews on sunday before the test. Attendance matters because you never know if theres going to be a quiz.
this guys knows his astronomy, and is funny. he is passionate about the class, and teaches it well. just pay attention and its an easy A.
Very nice guy, a tad boring, loves his job. class goes by slow. Don't buy the book, take notes and go to the lectures, sunday reviews and do extra credit and you will have NO problem. Offers tons of Extra Credit, I got an A with no prob.
Easy A, since he gives you all the answers for the test. Lectures are boring, he rambles on about nothing for 3 hours. He shows the same slides every week, which gets old. And it's amazing how he thinks life can't live on a hot planet. Clearly he is not an open minded astronomer like he should be.
Very good instructor! Learned alot! Lectures and slides very well planned. Many interesting facts about the universe. Even though you may not be studying to be an astronomer, you'll like this class. Cares about his students and their grades. Even conducts reviews for the tests on his own time!
For any females looking to take this class do your self a favor and take another professor. Jandorf is a total jerk. He make smart ass remarks, thinks he's funny, likes to humilliate people infront of the whole class, and totally favors the guys. He really discouraged many of his students & he totally has a way of making people look & feel stupid.

Hal was great. Take the lab and the lecture class together for full effect. He made a complicated subject fun. He loves the subject he teaches, and it shows. If you want to L-E-A-R-N about astronomy, and know where the stars are in the sky, take Hal. he gives you plenty of extra credit, so you will get a good grade if you try.
Hal is an awesome Astronomy teacher with a great passion for the subject. I found his lectures to be interesting, but then I have an interest in the subject. He's a great teacher who communicates the subject clearly and is always open to questions. Great guy!
Cool teacher. Made learning about space fun and interesting. Pretty easy class, but it helps if you're interested in sapce. =)
Awesome Professor! Hal has a great passion for astronomy. Makes subject very interesting and fun. Lays all info out for you, reviews for tests. Easy A if you just try a tiny bit.
Jandorf is amazing. If you show up (it's one class a week come on!) and take notes you will pass garunteed. He's really funny and has such a passion for teaching that he keeps you interested. Many people sign up for his class so get there early to grap a seat first day! :) And go to the star parties they might be out of your way but well worth it
Hal knows what he's talking about, so that's good. If you're looking for someone who lays out the facts for you, he's the perfect teacher. However, if you're looking for a good time, look elsewhere. His lectures can get pretty boring. He doesn't fool you on the tests, though. He lays everything out for you.
hal knows his stuff. offers extra credit a million times a semester. lectures might be boring- but he gives you the test practically. he loves his astronomy-- you can talk to your friends in class- notes though- and its really easy
Very good teacher and very easy. Highly recommended for a lab requirment.
This professor really cares. He offers a lot of extra credit which he spends his own time (without being paid) to take people to the observatory after every class. He also 'gives' you everything that will be on the tests about a million times! If you don't get a high grade in this class it's b/c you didn't put ANY effort into it! GREAT PROFESSOR
easy class. be prepaired to be board.
boring class...i didnt really care about astronomy and after this class i really hated it. did not allow the students to be involved, and just stood up there and talked. imposes his own beliefs into the lechture, and generalizes about certain groups of people. hes an OK teacher. if you HAVE to take this class take him.
Good professor, loves teaching astronomy. Class is duable and much like a college lecture. Most people forget that this isn't High School anymore. He breaks everything down and basically tells you what the tests will be on. Overall, this is a great professor to take, offers a lot of Extra Credit and help if needed. Good class, show up early 1st nig
Awesome teacher. Fun & easy class. Gives you all the answers to the tests. Only teaches you what you need to know. Gives extra credit. He is very helpful with all needs. He will bump your grade up if it's close enough to the next grade. I defiantly recommend taking his class. Just go to class and you pass with an A.
Awesome teacher. Fun & easy class. Gives you all the answers to the tests. Only teaches you what you need to know. Gives extra credit. He is very helpful with all needs. He will bump your grade up if it's close enough to the next grade. I defiantly recommend taking his class; I hear the other Astro Lab classes are hard and boring.
Honestly at first I thought his class would be cool but after awhile you just can't take him anymore. He's EXTREMELY boring. He simply lays down the facts and if you don't understand it annoys him. The smallest interuption pisses him off. He knows his stuff but doesn't know how to explain it. If you HAVE to take this class, take Wallingford.
As a "older" student, I saw so many immature high school and junior high attitudes, shown by the rating below this one. "EXTREMELY boring"? COME ON! This is college, grow-up! Your "smallest interruption" is actually rude behavior affecting serious students that are here to learn. The class was EXTREMELY interesting, prof did a fine job!
People interested in astronomy will really enjoy Jandorf's class. Lectures are easy to understand, sprinkled with interesting stories and humor. I sat in back and noticed some students were too immature for the class and treated it like middle school recess, which it is NOT. Luckily Jandorf kept us focused. Easy A if you pay attention.
Lectures that are sometimes interesting, sometimes boring, sometimes i didnt know cause i was half asleep. Nice guy. A lot of extra credit available. Basically no HW. Tests were fairly easy. So, pay attention + EC = A
Hal is a very nice guy, he loves this stuff more than anything so he loves to teach. He can be boring, but it was a 3 hour night class so you gotta take that into account. His notes are a bit confusing but he gives you exactly what will be on the test. Do extra credit, and the test are easy... go to review nights on sundays.. its worth your A
Mr Jandorf provides an interesting lab class. The students get hands on time with telescopes to search and find objects. He points out objects before exercises at the observatory which aids in the learning of where to find items. By the end of class I found that I was starting to know the placement of stars and several objects.
The only thing that sucked was attendace counts 100%. Cool guy, loves astronomy more than anything! Star parties to me were boring, but he gave tons of extra credit! Tests were ok, didnt take very long. Go to the review and do the EC and youll do fine.
JANDORF IS A REALLY INTERESTING TEACHER CARES ALOT ABOUT THE SUBJECT AND HIS STUDENTS. TESTS ARE REALLY EASY CAUSE HE GIVES YOU THE ANSWERS IN HIS LECTURES. JUST GO TO CLASS TAKE NOTES, STUDY A BIT,DO THE EC. THERE ARE ONLY THREE TESTS WHICH HE GRADES ON A CURVE AND THERE'S A ONE PAGE PAPER ON THE MOVIE APOLLO 13. HE'S A REAL EASY TEACHER. TAKE HIM
Love Hal. No textbook but you must take good notes. He gives you all the test questions. Easy A if you put in any effort. TONS of extra credit. Took the lab at the same time. Easy A there too. I learned a lot and his passion for astronomy is great. DONT MISS CLASS THOUGH!! HW is SOO easy...
I normally would never rate a professor, I just look at other peoples ratings. BUTTTTT Hal is seriously no joke (I hate science!) One of the greatest teachers I have ever had! You just need to show up for class and you'll get an "A"! PS--> there is absolutly no HW and you can use the book and all of your notes for allllllll of the tests! SOOOO EASY
Best Teacher Ever. He is very knowledgeable. He cares for every student. Take good notes and pay attention in class. The Sunday before the test is Review Night. He gives you all the answers that will be on the test. (This is on his own time without being paid). He offers a Ton of Extra Credit. You should really take advantage of it. Best Teacher!!!
Offers a Ton of Extra Credit. You can earn 5% max on Extra Credit toward your entire grade. (Each event you receive 2.5%). Go to Star Parties and the Griffith Park Observatory for the Extra Credit. Each night after class, you can go to the College Observatory for extra credit (You receive 1 point that will be added to your test score). Best Teacher
Not your average teacher. Pretty funny guy though, class was interesting at times and others just a drag. Harder than you think but he gives lots of extra credit so just do it! Takes class full time so don't expect to get out early, Test are hard but go to the review. Takes attendence
If you dont get an A you should quit school.
Pretty much a breeze by A, if you can memorize an a few constellations, you'll be fine. PS: I had a good excuse and didn't take the final, I received an A nonetheless.
So boring I wanted to shoot myself in the head. He rambles a lot which gets annoying. He gives the answers to the tests at the reviews which is helpful... Lots of extra credit and the book wasnt required. I would NOT take this teacher ever again.
An EXCITING class, the professor brings up his own experiences that makes the class extremely interesting, no way would it be "boring"! I couldn't wait for each class, all topics different. I DEFINITELY WOULD take this instructor again (and again and again....!) If people were "bored", they should stay home and watch the tube...
EZ class. totally cool teacher. laid back, no stress. Fun.
Enjoyed coming to class. Met my science requirement. Better than other science professors.
Lab was fun and easy. Mr. Jandorf was always there to help when needed. Review sessions were VERY helpful. Class was fun and he is very interested and enthusiatic about astronomy.
Mr. Jandorf was extremely helpful. Excellent class! Very helpful. He wants you to enjoy the universe!! This professor is the ONE to take!! He makes the class fun and enjoyable. If people are not enjoying this class, there is something wrong with them. This lab meets the science requirements. Take it!!!
Hal's class was enjoyable. His passion for the material is clear, and his crusade agaist the toy telescope market led to some funny tirades... I definitely recommend this class for beginners. If you don't succeed in this class, you were not present...
Most enjoyable class I have ever taken at Moorpark College. Highly recommend taking this class during summer. It's the best time to take it. He makes the class very enjoyable, and is very helpful to any questions you might have. But, NEVER MISS A CLASS!!! Oh and the textbook use is the star atlas very important, and also the lab packet/book L.G.
Attendance is key with Professor Jandorf. He's extremely helpful and literally gives you the answers to each of his tests. Grades are 2 multiple choice tests worth 20% each, 10% homework, 10% attendence, and 40% on the final. The final is non cumulative, and consists of mostly multiple choice with 8 short essay. Taking for lab next semester...
I was in lecture and lab and attendance is key in both! Do all extra credit available to you and you should have no problem. (He offers a ton of extra credit!) You still have to study unless it comes easy to you. Lab class was so much fun and very interesting! The main key to lecture class is to attend ALL CLASSES and be sure to do the E.C.
Prof Jandorf really loves what he does and uses humor to get his point across. If you really listen to him...he gives you everything you need to get an A in the class. Pay attention...you will enjoy this class!!!
Show up, takes notes, study and you'll get an A. Nice guy, offers tons of extra credit.
Jandorf is an awesome prof. He basically gives you the answers to all 3 tests. There is also a lot of extra credit opportunities. He's kinda funny and shows slides. His work is really easy. Just take good notes and you'll do great.
I just started this class and I can already tell I like this guy.I already look forward to his next class.Pretty funny guy and seems to know his sh**!
If your browsing this to decide what Prof to choose this is your guy. You will enjoy his class, love the lab work, and be treated as a human rather than just another student. Unlike many instructors, he really does all that he can to teach the subject and pass his students so that they leave the class with the materials needed. Was lots of fun.
Great Prof! Loves what he does and gets really excited when you start to pick up the material. He cares if you do well, and gives tons of extra credit to help. This was one of my favorite classes ever. I highly recommend it to anyone.
Mr. Jandorf says Astrology Sucks!(not Astronomy!)
This guy is great! He's really funny and you can tell he really loves what he does. He doesn't like when people are absent or leave class early so just stay in class and you'll be fine. Really easy stuff and he makes it fun to learn
Very easy class. Gives you answers to tests and a review sheet before the test. The questions and info on that paper IS what is on the test. Easy A's on the test if you memorize that sheet. He pounds on the board during lecture if hes writing something thats on the test, so you know when to take notes lol. Bring your comp...cuz itll get boring ;)
Hal is brilliant. Makes the class fun, gives you the answers to tests, you're do good on tests if you study. Gives up alot of his free time (he does not get paid for this)so you can do extra credit. Knows what hes talking about. This class is far from boring, so leave the computer at home.
Prof. Jandorf has such a passion for Astronomy, you can really feel that he wants all of his students to get an A. Textbook & attendance is mandatory to pass, but he is extremely helpful. Will review before each test, sometimes giving you the exact answers word-for-word. Makes astronomy fun & offers cool ways to earn extra credit too. Take Jandorf!
Prof.Jandorf is an amazing teacher take his class!!! He is so compassionate about astronomy and he truly makes astronomy fun. He gives you so many extra credit opportunities. I got an easy A in the class. I really don't think any other astronomy teachers match him. Hope this convinced you
EXTREMELY EASY, HE TELLS YOU WORD FOR WORD WHAT IS ON THE EXAM, YOU HAVE TO TRY HARD NOT TO GET AN A, U HAVE TO ATTEND CLASS CAUSE THERE ARE EXERCISES U HAVE TO DO, BUT OVERALL VERY EASY AND QUITE ENJOYABLE
If you are looking for a good Astro. teacher, Jandorf is it!Here's some advice as well to all you students reading this.. if you are going to take Jandorf for Astr.lecture you should also take him for the lab.The extra credit you do for one class will apply to the other class as well. The class was easier for students who had him for lecture & lab!!
LOVE this teacher, hes amazing & knows everything there is to know about astro! I deff recommend this class to everyone. he wrote the text book and we cant sell it back but its still useful after I deff am gona miss his class, he taught me so much valuable info, tons of extra credit too, its possible to get over 100% in class, just always show up
This professor was extremely understanding, due to the limited resources at LA Valley College. His attitude keept me interested and he really cared about his students. He gives his student every opportunity to get involved and apply yourself to achieve a high grade. If you didn't do well in his class, you didn't care about your education.
Best astronomy professor at Moorpark!!! Take him! He reviews EVERY question before the test and explains everything! Best teacher for astronomy lab as well
BEST ASTRO LAB TEACHER!!! TAKE HIM!! So helpful and goes through a review for the two tests you will have, gives extra credit. REALLY FUN CLASS!!!
Professor Jandorf is the most amazing astronomy teacher. He loves what he does and wants everyone to succeed. He is very helpful and will make sure you understand everything. Take this teacher! He is the best!!!
super good teacher! TAKE HIM! easy A! A LOT of extra credit! lectures everyday and gives a 15 min break. if you take notes he points out will be on test you will be fine. He gives 3 tests total. And he gives a study guide foreach test telling you what the exact questions are! loves what he does and gives many examples.
Amazing teacher. Nice, helpful, funny, and interesting. You do a lot of work in class so go, and don't be late. take him for the lab too because extra credit will count for the class and the lab. He makes it a fun class and it's next to impossible to not get an A, what could be better than that?
Hal LOVES astronomy! Go before class and ask questions, especially on test days, act interested, 4 tests. Extra credit helps tremendously! He is always willing to help, wants people to appreciate astronomy!
Jandorf is an awesome professor. As long as you attend the classes and pay somewhat attention you will get a good grade. He makes sure you are more than prepared before the exams and is very passionate about astronomy. I would take this class again and reccomend it to my friends and family.
Wonderful man. Extremelly passionate about astronomy, and even got me into astronomy. Without a doubt a great teacher, very clear study guides and easy tests if you do the guides. Attend his classes and you will succeed.
Amazing professor! Funny, knowledgeable, & extremely passionate! He reviews EXACTLY what you need to know before the tests (3, non-cumulative). He truly wants everyone to succeed and offers a TON of extra credit options (which count for his lab class as well). The key to doing well is to show up and take good notes. BEST CLASS...don't miss out!
Love astronomy!! wish there was more of these classes at moorpark. Lots of extra credit in this class and if you attend the review before the test, answers are the same. Study guides and easy assignments help too..
I took his lecture & lab class the same semester. He is very kind, funny & passionate about the subject. I enjoyed it bcse of how he taught it. He's a GREAT lab teacher, very fun class!!!
Good lecturer with great slide shows. Always answers questions. Lots of opportunities for extra credit. Offers a review before the final that basically tells you every question on the test.
I took this class because I am not very interested in Science. You have to attend all of the classes. If you do the super easy extra credit, there is no way to get less than a B. The professor is very helpful and will stay after class to answer questions. The pretest study sessions are extremely helpful. You would have to try hard to get an F.
Needed to take a science and had a passing interest in astronomy. Now I find myself looking up at the night sky and actually understanding what I'm seeing! Lot's of info, but multiple chances for extra credit and review of all test questions given prior to exams. Easy to walk away with an A in this class.
Taking his summer class. Easy class, way chill. Get your class/lab work done and you can get out early. Def. recommend him for lab. Didn't take him for reg ast class. If you don't get a good grade in this class, its not his fault!
Take him! He makes his class really easy and enjoyable! He has a lot of funny jokes and experiences he likes to talk about! The notes are easy, interesting, and exactly as it is on the test. Study and you'll get A's on all the tests! Lots of helpful extra credit, and he doesn't grade too harshly! :)
Awesome class! Hal made it a point to get us out to the telescopes as much as possible. There is plenty of EC, but mostly the events outside of class are fun ways to see more of the stars. Easy class, you will also learn to love astronomy even more (don't talk about astronomy though, he hates it) :)
This teacher was amazing! As a student to the High School at Moorpark College, I was a bit apprehensive on the workload I would be getting with the high school and a college class. But this class was amazing! Although I felt that the 3 hour time span was long, everything was taught clearly and he kept the subject really interesting.
Amazing! Very nice, funny, and super easy. He will tell you question for question what is on each test and quiz multiple times before you take it. Offers extra credit almost every single class and even outside of class. You need his textbook. You also need to show up to pass. Amazing teacher, take him for astronomy mo1, guaranteed A!
Only two tests and he outlines everything that will be in them the week before. If you want to guarantee yourself an A, you may want to do a little bit of extra credit. I didn't, and I barely got the A just because of docked points on assignments in class. He wrote the "text book" and it is actually a workbook of all the assignments.
Very interesting professor. lectures are great and most of the times the lab is outside and with pretty high quality telescopes. lecture isn't very hard either. all in all a great professor.
Hal is amazing and knows what he's talking about. Don't talk, it loses his train of thought and he WILL call you out about it. He doesn't mind if you pass notes. Make sure to be in class there's A LOT of information but testsquizzes are open note. If the quiz isn't open note, he reviews a half hour before class. EASY PASS TAKE HIM
Hal's class was interesting and so much fun. I loved the labs and being able to learn about everything up in the sky. This was by far the easiest lab option. Show up every day and get an A. If you miss class, there are extra credit options, but it is just easier to get to class each week. Take this class for an easy A
I had a different teacher for the lecture but i wish I took the lecture w/ Hal. He has tests but will go over it the class before so there are no hidden questions. When he talks, he clarifies things so it will be easier for you to understand instead of it being in a crazy foreign language. If you can, take his lab over summer for the best sky views
Hal Jandorf is easily the best professor at Moorpark College. i took him expecting a relatively easy A in a subject that I have always loved. He is very inspirational. But beware, there are not many tests. a couple of quizzes but they were all really easy. No homework given and a plethora of extra credit assignments.
Tells you exactly what will be on the tests, spells it out very simply for you. There is a little bit of homework, but it's easy enough to where you can complete it in five or less minutes. Jandorf is really funny and his class is among the most structured and organized I've experienced, very rare for a community college. Took class at LAVC.
For this class all you need to do is show up. This professor lets you know where you stand, grade wise, multiple times throughout the semester. Offers a lot of extra credit. Only had 4 hw assignments! He gives everything you need to study for the exams and quizzes. Easy, straight foward questions with and no surprises. does not like phones!!!
Professor Jandorf is an amazing teacher. He's an extremely clear and direct grader. He's hilarious! He had my friends and I dying almost every class with his dry sense of humor. Just think "classic grandpa" and you've got Professor Jandorf. I cannot stress how important it is to show up for review days. He literally tells you the answers.
I loved this class, and I think it must have been the professors ability to relate to students, and his ability to make Astronomy interesting on an individual level. I really enjoyed how he told stories from his own life to support his lessons.
Hal gave me permission to call him Hal once I received my grade from him. He is a very typical teacher, and he is old. Which makes his humor quite hysterical, as long as you are in the mood. Take his astronomy classes with friends; it makes the entire experience much more reasonable. He is such a great old man! It is fun too, his lab at Moorpark.
Hal is a great teacher. We weren't really able to do much because of the weather, but I still learned a lot from this course. We had two tests (he goes over EVERYTHING that will be tested on) and a super easy final. If you go to class, take good notes, and do the work you should get an easy A. Plenty of opportunities for extra credit too!
I took his Astronomy Lab course this past summer and absolutely loved it. I don't normally go to Moorpark, but I had an awesome experience here. I found all the class content to be super interesting, and I loved being able to go outside almost every night and look at the stars. Professor Jandorf is passionate about his subject and this really shows
His class is one of the easiest you'll take in your life. Prof Jandorf is just really passionate about Astronomy and wants you to feel it, too, and tries to make it as painless an experience as possible. He makes you buy his own book that you don't read but you tear your homework out of. He's a little eccentric and funny, but not quite hilarious
Very easy and fun class! Prof Jandorf is very interested in the subject he is teaching and thats what makes the class bearable. He gives so much extra credit and gives all answers to tests and quizzes.
I would definitely suggest Jandorf if you're looking for an easy A in astronomy, and not necessarily a class that will challenge you. He gives you every answer for every quiz AND test question, is kind, caring, and extremely captivated by astronomy. His passion alone fills up the room, and it's quite inspiring. He has a great heart and a soft soul.
easy class. easy professor. complete blow off class.
Took the astronomy lab class with him and i really enjoyed it. The class was fun and easy. The tests are easy and you go over them in the class before. He makes the class interesting and he wants you to do well. Make sure you go every day because there is usually classwork every day
THE BEST PROFESSOR!!!! WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM!!!!
Jandorf's classes are perfect for students trying to get a quick physical science credit out of the way easily. His dry sense of humor is the highlight of the lectures, and he will practically hand you the answers to every single exam. His book is 100% required, but in lab work you will only be using it for the exercise sheets.
Honestly the easiest class I have ever taken, you just have to study what he tells you. You CAN NOT slack off and you have to show up. Even when he repeats himself every class, important to be there. He is a nice guy. EASY A happy me... so thanks Jandorf :)
Great prof that's very passionate about Astro. ATTEND lectures before tests because he LITERALLY reads off EACH questions from exam. Gives fun extra credit. You have to buy a $100 book only to use 10 pages for in-class assignments (I didn't use it for anything else or even read it once.) Really fun and easy class, definitely recommend!
This was a Lab class for Astronomy, so its not a terribly hard class. Attendance is mandatory in that if you don't attend class, you don't get the necessary hands on experience needed for finding stars, and the final requires you to find celestial objects. The prof. does a good job at teaching and gives good feedback if you are struggling too.
he is the best professor I've had the privilege of having. he loves what he teaches and it really rubs off on you at least it did for me. For his class, all you have to do is show up and pay attention and you'll pass. I highly recommend him to anyone.
Classes feel really long as it is nighttime and 3 hours long. When you go up to the observatory bring a jacket it is FREEZING in the Spring. The tests are really what matters most and he gives you the answers beforehand. There's a lot of homework but he normally does like half of it in class and it's not too complex.
Jandorf is a passionate astronomer and amazing professor. He exhibits a vast knowledge of astronomy. The class is a three hour lecture so be prepared for that. Jandorf also gives all of the test answers one week ahead of time during the pre-test review. So long as you show and make an effort the class is an easy A. Extra credit is also available.
-only need the workbook. Don't buy the textbook (its a waste of money) -literally gives you all the questions and answers to the test -easy A -offers extra credit -lectures are a bit boring
Professor Hal Jandorf is such a passionate Professor ! He truly cares for his students and tries to accommodate with his students needs . His very understandable and if you have a question he will definitely answer it . He has made this class so enjoyable and such a great experience! I am very grateful to have him as a professor !
He is very helpful and kind. His lecture are very interesting and the lab is super fun. He goes over the test and quizzes questions the day before the test or quiz in both lecture and lab. The lab tests and final are open notes and for the final in lecture you get to use a cheat sheet.
Professor Jandorfs passion for Astronomy makes this online late night class Fun! He's an excellent teacher and wants to help everyone succeed! I loved this class! His dry humor is so funny. Professor Jandorf is one of my favorite professors, don't hesitate to take his classes! Astronomy Rules!
You MUST attend all classes if you want an A. And why would you miss it? He's extremely interesting and humorous. He's a little sarcastic, which I loved. He calls anyone who is disruptive/rude, which I respect a lot. If you're nice to him, he's nice to you. He let's you do makeup classes for his other lectures too. Your classwork is your grade
Weekly zoom lectures that are listed as 3 hours but usually let out 1.5 hours early. Class is easy. He is always willing to answer your questions if you are confused. He'll even look over your answers and tell you which ones are right or wrong. This class is an easy, stress-free way to earn a lab credit. A few labs and 2 tests. Highly recommend.
a really good class to take if you are interested in Astronomy or just need to get a requirement out of the way. he is an easy teacher honestly. the lectures were long sometimes, but he reviews the answers to each quiz/test before the class ends, so there is literally no way to fail this class.
super funny and helpful guy, he understands how stressful lectures and notes and tests can be so he makes the class as simple and straightforward as possible while still being very entertaining.
Professor Jandorf was a very interesting guy. His personality keeps you engaged in class. He rarely uses canvas so be prepared to do everything handwritten. He teaches in a way that makes astronomy so simple but so fascinating.
He knows a lot about Astronomy, but the lectures feel very long and boring. He's pretty strict and talks quietly. The longer quizzes are open notes and the short quizzes aren't but they're easy.
This class was interesting. Proffessor was easy to understand and listen to. Lots of chances for extra credit. Some tests are open note. Many opportunities to not only learn about astronomy, but also to go outside to "star parties" to see through actual telescopes. Something you can't do in your house on a computer.
Professor Jandorf is obviously someone who loves what he does. It's very evident that he has a true passion for Astronomy. Lectures are informative and entertaining. His sense of humor is the best! Extra Credit is offered and he goes over all actual test questions. This class is needed to cover course credits, he shows he wants you to succeed.
He is funny and really cares about each student succeeding. He goes over every test right before, there is no homework, and it was really fun going outside looking through the telescopes. If you miss a class there is not really way to make up the assignment but he offers extra credit which is really helpful.
