basically take this class if you have a good grasp on chemistry otherwise get another professor. she is not that easily understood and not a great teacher although she is very smart. she will however help you with extra credit and bonus points.
She's rude to students, hard to understand, and can't tell time. Take this class if you already understand Chem. and don't mind being called dumb, and getting out of class late every day.
She's a really funny professor who keeps her class interesting. I failed every test but the LARGE amount of extra credit she offered us got me a B in the class. I got a 50 on the final and still managed a B in the class. She gives extra credit on every aspect of class so take advantage! be ready to do the extra credit work if you're taking thisclas
She was great. Very fun, never kept us late, and she explained things well. This class is ridiculously easy, I have no idea how anyone could get below an a or a b
Test are hard but don't get discourage. She hands out a bunch of extra credit ... Over 100 points which comes out to over 15% added onto your grade. You must go to class and be ready to do the extra credit assignments. Show up + Extra credit = no less than a C at bair minimum. Ms Abdou is awesome!!
She is awesome! Put in the work and you will do great in her class. She never was rude or mean about questions and she likes to joke with the class. She is very clear in her lectures and I enjoyed her a lot. She gives a lot of extra credit. Do it! Even if you don't understand chemistry she will help you to do well in the class.
She is amazing. She will tell you, all you have to do is study the notes and you will do fine on the tests. That's all I did and I made an A in the class. The online homework has nothing to do with the tests, but just get through it. She explains things very well, even with her accent. DO NOT BUY THE BOOK. Loved her.
Very helpful teacher! Will help as much as you need and gives ALOT of extra credit, enough to change 10 points on your final grade.
If possible, choose another professor. Her accent is horrible, and you can barely understand her. She gives a lot of extra credit opportunities, make sure to do them. I felt like she was a horrible teacher and the way she explained things was horrible. i went to tutoring before every test and felt like i was learning all of it for the first time.
the best, the best, the best
She is a great professor. Yes she has an accent but its not that big of a deal. She is very sarcastic. I made avg 60s on my tests and 64/200 points on my final but the extreme amounts of the extra credit gave me a B in the class. DO THE EXTRA CREDIT. If you show up and give effort she is willing to work with you. Book is not necessary.
Highly recommend her! She does have an accent but its not bad at all! She gives a ton of extra credit and is very helpful with questions and in lab! I am trying to take her again for Chem 1412. If she sees you are trying to do well then she will help your grade out. Pick her! She is awesome and funny!
She is an AMAZING TEACHER!!! Anyone who needs to take chemistry should take her. She has an accent but you get used to it. She is extremely helpful in the lab and helps you outside of class. I didn't do half of the online homework,Mastering Chemistry, and I still made a B in the class. She also gives alot of extra credit! Has excellent powerpoints!
She is an absolutely amazing professor! Though at times she is hard to understand, she truly does try to engage the class and help you as much as possible. She does get angry when you don't answer her or the test grades are low, but otherwise I definitely recommend her!
She was good. You really can not fall behind. Stay on top of your work and you will do great.
She is the best professor. She makes the hardest concepts of chemistry so easy to understand. I learned a lot from her way of approaching to problems.
Good professor in teaching, but horrible when it comes to personal aspects. Likes to pick on people she doesn't like and it is very easy to get on her bad side. Starts out the year with extra credit and being nice, but starts to get angry with bad grades and threatens to fail students. If you're on her good side, you're golden. If not, you're done
Took her class at LSC in 2013. Got on her bad side at first but she warmed up when she saw I studied hard. Gave A LOT of extra credits and her lecturesppt's made the concepts clear and memorable. Studied hard for the test to make my A's. Currently taking Orgo 2 at UH and I still remember and use what she taught! (Her accent isn't too bad at all)
Class averages for tests were failing, threatens to fail students, does not give help when you ask. Very difficult class.
Gives Xcredit for everything. Regarding her temper, I saw a lot of blatant disrespect towards her and she doesn't ignore that, hence her tough attitude. SIT UP FRONT, answer her questions, and you will pass. Youtube is your friend on harder subjects. Lightens up once all the "back row" students drop. Labs and lab final easy enough.
She was the greatest chemistry i've aver taken. She was a sweet woman, professor. Chem 2 is neither hard nor easy to get an A. Just study seriously, learn exams from the powerpoint and listen carefully during class. Respect her, show her your determination and hard work, she will help.I like her the best, definitely will take her again for Organic
I am not good at Chemistry but she made this class easier for me. I love how she tries her best to clarify our confusions and gives a lot of extra credits. If you have any problem, explain to her and she will listen. She is not strict at all. Exams are from power points and not too hard. Take her and you wont be disappointed! I really respect her!
The best chem prof I've ever had. Come to class and study hard and its an easy A. Tests are straight from the lectures and she gives an insane amount of extra credit. She tries extremely hard to clear up any confusion on material during lecture, and was very helpful during office hours.
Professor Abdou can be intimidating. Do what she asks, and most of all, follow her rules. Shes not a fan of "backseat" students. Her test are difficult, but you'll be good if you study her powerpoints. Whatever you do, try and you will be rewarded. I failed 3 test and the final, yet I got a B in the class. Lots, and lots of extra credit.
She doesn't post test up until a week later. More than half of the class dropped after more than half of the class failed the first test. The extra credit is limited. The textbook wasn't used for the class and she had a different textbook that the powerpoint are from. Test reviews are not given till a few days before the test.
She's a great prof and she knows Chemistry very well. She has a thick accent which is hard to understand at first. The only reason I rated her a 3 is because she is very tough on you. If you're on your phone or sleeping in class she will call you out. If you forget to bring goggles to lab she will kick you out. Overall I learned a lot from her.
She was never in her office hours. Had very little office hours and was not able to meet at other times. She talks fast so be prepared to pay very close attention in her class. Probably should spend up to 2 hours a day studying for her class if you want an A. Not very helpful if you ask questions in her class. Would not take her ever again.
Highly recommend getting any other professor. Previous comments about her picking on students are true. When you get on her bad side, just be the adult. She gets upset when you correct her & blames wrong answers on you. Only reason why I am putting up this rating is bc she is terribly over rated. There are times she can't answer her own questions.
I did not learn a thing in this class. She essentially teaches you to memorize how to do things instead of actually learning them. Retook at A&M and did well.
Dr. Abdou is a nice person but an awful teacher. She definitely picks on her students and will call you out and embarrass you in front of the class. Then when students ask her a question about something she just taught she will scream at them and ask how could they not under it because she just explained it. Also has a thick accent at times.
Chem is a hard class but she is willing to work with you, encourages you to go to office hours, and answers questions well. She doesn't tolerate not being ready for lab, and she will call you out for being on your phone. As long as you do well in the lab and the homework and get extra credit u can fail all the exams and get a B.
Prof Abdou is not a good professor. She seems to get offended when asked to clarify and sometimes told us not to ask questions because it was "easy," even though she didn't explain it well. The tests are multiple choice but she gives no partial credit. She can be a little picky on labs but not too bad.
I took Chem 1411 last year with a different prof and I hated it, took it with Abdou and I love Chem now! If you do all the extra credit and come to classs there's no way you can fail. Exams are MC, she allows some partial credit if you go in and review your test in her office hours and show her your work. Very accessible and willing to help. 10/10
She really wants you to pass her class, she gives out a lot of extra credit. She always wants you to come to her office hours and she always wants to help. Her lectures are at a fast pace but she will slow down if you ask her too. There is a lot of homework. A lot of people dropped the course but only because they didn't try their best.
Chem is hard no matter what prof you have, but Abdou is truly the best. You have to go to class and lab every day and put in the effort, but as long as you do that she is more than willing to help her students. Tests are not too bad if you study, and she does offer a lot of extra credit so good grades on the test are very doable.
Test material comes straight from the powerpoints, but if you still don't understand she will definitely help you during her office hours. She realizes chem is a hard subject so she offers a lot of extra credit to help improve your grade. She was very funny and a very enjoyable professor because she cares about her student.
She's a great professor. The class consisted of 4 exams and quizzes on sapling. The tests should be fairly easy if you do her reviews and go over her lecture notes before the exam day. She offers a lot of extra credit that will boost your grade. I would highly recommend Abdou for chemistry.
Dr. Abdou is very strict with her classroom/lab rules. She does talk fast and can be hard to understand. However, I am SO glad I had Dr. Abdou this past semester. She really wants her students to succeed and she understands chem is hard, so she gives a TON of extra credit. You could fail every exam and still get at least a B. TAKE HER!
Dr. Abdou is so sweet. Her accent is a bit heavy but you will get used to it. She really wants to you to do well so she gives you a lot of extra credit opportunities. Take advantage, towards the end she lessens the amount of extra credit. Going to office hours helps as well. Gives harder examples in class so test comes naturally. TAKE HER!!
TAKE HER! She knows that not everyone is a chem major and really tries to help you out every way she can. Enough extra credit to bump you almost a full letter grade. She can tell if you aren't trying and gets upset because she tries so hard to help you. Just put in a little effort and you'll be fine! Everything on exam is straight from power points
Abdou is not a good teacher. She got upset very easily and usually took it out on the students by screaming at them. She gives enough extra credit to make the class easier, but you will have to walk on eggshells around her or she blows up and gets angry. Get another professor if you need organic chem.
Would not recommend for O Chem summer courses. Every class, she would speed read lectures and copy her notes onto the board while standing in front of it so no one could see. Then she would erase and move on, but since she was going so fast she would copy notes wrong on the board so we had to learn everything on our own. Not respectful/professional
Dr. Abdou eased my fears early in regards to the pressure of taking Organic Chemistry. She wants the best for her students, and it shows in the way she delivers the material. Tests are difficult, but that comes with the territory. A student will have many opportunities to strengthen their grade on course work other than exams. Highly Recommend.
Runs the classroom like a strict high school teacher. She banned laptops halfway through the semester. Goes through material very quickly and says she will slow down if you need her to but once a girl asked her and she made a big deal about it. Lectures are pretty confusing. Don't take if you're not great with chemistry. If you are then she's fine.
She is genuinely the best science professor I have ever had. She really cares about her students and gives TONS of extra credit. She makes the labs SUPER easy. She genuinely cares about all of her students and she ACTUALLY knows chemistry and makes everything really easy to understand. Her exams were not hard for me, TAKE HER!!!
Dr. Abdou teaches a very difficult class but gives out a ton of extra credit. Without the extra credit I'm sure I would have failed because all my test grades were in the 60's or below except one test that I luckily made a 94 on. I made a 12 on the final and still passed the class with a B
This is by far one of the best professors i have ever had! She gives a ton of extra credit and really wants you to succeed. Tests are not too hard, but still challenging. Do all of the homework, quizzes, and reviews and you'll be fine!
Honestly would have failed 1411 and 1412 if I hadn't taken her. Offers so much extra credit to bump you seriously a whole letter grade if not more. Tests aren't too bad, gives plenty of reviews, and labs are seriously the easiest thing you'll do so you won't have to stress over those in this class. I would recommend her to anyone. TAKE HER!!!
Best science professor ever!! Chemistry is really hard but she goes out of her way to make sure you understand. I made an F and a D on two out of five total tests, but still finished with an A in the class because she offers sooo much extra credit. Seriously you have to try to NOT pass her class. Do every assignment and you won't have a problem
Although she gives out a lot of extra credit. She speaks too fast and her handwriting on the board is barely readable. Students have asked her to slow down and even though she says she will she does not slow down. I have tried sitting literally in front of her and yet, her handwriting is still impossible to read.
Run! Ask her to slow down- she speeds up. Ask her to write larger/more legibly- she does the opposite then tells you that you can just come closer to the board. While writing notes if you are not done & she is ready to move on she snaps her fingers. Tags: Unprofessional, Plays on her phone during lab, doesn't wear gloves/mask, Don't do it.
Do NOT recommend at all. She doesn't use powerpoint and her handwriting is literally hard to read, which made me mad every times. All four tests (multiple choices & open ended questions) are hard, but she will give tons of extra credit.
Chemistry is a hard class, but Dr. Abdou didn't make it any easier. She flys through the lectures where it is impossible to follow her. She makes you feel ashamed if you ask any kind of question. She yelled on many occasions embarrassing students. Her lab is a joke but she does offer an excessive amount of extra credit that will save your grade.
Would take her as many times as I possibly could. I failed 2 out of the 4 test and with extra credit STILL made an A. Offers extra credit almost every class, labs are pretty much completion and no lab practical. You don't need the book just online access codes. Everything you need to study is in her notes and test reviews.
Not the best prof, hard to follow in lectures because she goes so fast and is a little hard to understand sometimes. Tests are hard, but there is so much extra credit offered that you will be bumped a letter grade at least. Lab is so easy. If you need to boost your GPA, I would recommend
Easy class but an absolute melon
Professor Abdou is a nice enough peron, but not such a good teacher. She knows her stuff, but she lectures as though you should already know the material. She doesn't require a textbook-use her notes and you'll pass (aaccording to her). Problem is that she doesn't lecture over all of her notes but tests on it anyway. She speaks very fast.
Gives lots of extra credit
Took class in summer. Only one lecture up the first week, better second week. She was very accessible outside of class and I emailed over the weekends. Helped explain concepts during the beginning of the semester, but just said to watch lectures to figure out towards end of semester. LOTS of extra credit. HW worth doing. Understand lectures!
She is difficult to understand in class or virtually. She refused to accept my assignment that had technical difficulties being sent via ecampus. She kicked out a student for responding to her "unmute yourself " virtually by responding, and she refuses to respond back while being muted.
She goes very fast when teaching, not very compassionate for her students. Tests are very hard, so are labs. I do not recommend taking it virtually, it is so hard. Would not recommend her at all.
The one thing I would complain about Professor Abdou is that she is very fast. I put that I took this class online but I had in person lectures and labs on Tuesdays but on Thursdays I was online. The night before this class you need to get sleep because if you don't you won't keep up and you will fall behind. I'd add she is difficult to understand.
I highly recommend not taking this professor, I did not have a good experience and eventually had to drop. She was not understanding, spoke too quickly and had such rude remarks. You have to also be on top of the work because she never mentions when things are due. Tests are difficult and there are many "lab sheets" that have to be done per unit.
DO NOT TAKE HER. I had to drop this class early on. She was nearly impossible to understand on zoom, and with the live feed of class it's no use trying to understand her. She provided little help when I needed to understand something better, and she assumed you already had a lot of knowledge on chem. Take another prof for this course.
A difficult class, but with inordinate amounts of extra credit which bumped my overall grade about 15 points up
This class was hard, and but extra credit at the end of the semester saved my life. God bless her for it.
If you're actually interested in chemistry, do not take Dr. Abdou; you will not learn anything. Her accent is hard to understand, and she goes through the lectures at lightning speed. Being online made it even harder to understand her. She yells at you if you ask her a question about the lecture. She is very rude and doesn't seem to like her job.
Overall she was good. Her accent was hard to understand at times especially with a mask and over zoom. Tests were a bit different than the reviews she gave, but if you did the reviews you would get extra credit. Lab was easy. All homework was due the day of exam. she adds a lot of extra credit at the end. She's not as bad as everyone says she is!
She explained everything multiple times and she would push due dates so that people could have more time to do the work
Her labs, HW, and lab quizzes are fairly easy to complete. Read textbook, watch lectures, and do practice problems. 4 exams total plus final, I failed 3 exams however I passed my final which replaced one of the low grades. Extra credit saved my life in this class as well as doing good in everything else except for exams. Really hard but doable.
DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS. She is virtually no help when it comes to technology, does not help when you have questions. Lectures are word for word on slides, only the lab is done in class however she does not pay attention while we do lab. I will most likely have to drop this class.
RUDE. Seems nice in person but as soon as you email her about an issue she either will not reply or is incredibly rude. Gave me unexcused absences after telling me ahead of time that they would be excused. Very homework heavy, and it is confusing and time consuming. Does not teach well. Semester is almost over and she has put only two grades in.
If you are having to take chemistry 1411, do not take Dr. Abdou. Her exams are extremely hard she does not pay attention to us when we are doing the labs. She is terrible about putting grades in and does it at the very end. She is very rude in every email and seems careless. People are talking about all this extra credit, I did not receive that.
Professor Abdou seems like a very sweet lady, but being sweet is not enough to be a good professor. She has zero clue how to work e-campus, so good luck getting your grades on time or even knowing where to turn things in. She also doesn't come to lab prepared to the point of not even knowing what lab you're doing that day.
Dr. Abdou is a good professor, while hard to understand at times and can be a bit strict. She offers so many extra credit opportunities its insane, as long as you pay attention in lectures and are able to do the extra credits you should be alright.
Do not take this class. Chemistry is hard enough and she does not make it easier whatsoever. She is very hard to understand and almost purposely works through things quickly so she can return to playing on her phone. Exams are a complete joke. My classes average never got above a 40 on any exams. This is by far the worst professor I have had EVER.
She was not a good professor. She talked super fast and was very bad at explaining concepts. chemistry is already hard enough and she didn't do a good job of explaining anything in the course. Overall I would avoid getting her as a professor because she is very hard to understand and doesn't explain the material.
TONS of extra credit, cares about her students, difficult to understand at first but you'll get the hang of it. Nice.
AMAZING prof. I take her again. Lot of extra credit and is very clear on her assignments. She drops lowest grades for some categories. In my opinion, she made difficult concepts very simple. She gives study guides for exams. Hard to reach outside of class/willing to help explain concepts tho/lectures REALLY fast. Deserves a higher rating
Extra credit heavy, be sure to do it! She prepares you well for the final. Easy to work with/willing to help. SHE DOES NOT CURVE, since she gives so much extra credit! Enjoyable class, difficult to understand her accent at first. Definitely recommend!
She was a great professor and explained all lectures in detail though she can be difficult to understand sometimes as she does make some concepts really long and complex. There was a lot of extra credit that was available as long as you show up to lectures and lab. The tests were all over covered material and she cleared all doubts that I had.
She assigns lots of homework due the day of the exams, but this homework gives you a lot of extra credit at the end. Can be challenging to understand at times, but not impossible. She will answer your questions thoroughly and make sure you understand your labs. Tests are difficult but all the material is covered. The final is easier than the exams.
She is very rude, hard to understand, and will belittle you if you ask her anything. DO NOT TAKE HER
Not tech savvy and makes pretty frequent mistakes with online material. Some errors or revisions are made by the instructor (uploading late, establishing new rules, or not elaborating on material) and then the students are held responsible/punished for supposed incompetence. Worst instructor I've had so far. At least she knows the subject material.
She goes super fast through material and then when she asks if you have questions it's hard to even know what to ask bc she goes to fast and you can't understand her bc she has the heaviest accent. she offers bonus which is nice if you even understand what is happening. Takes forever to reply to emails. don't take this professor.
If you are willing to really work for your grade, you will be fine. She is very straightforward and sometimes intimidating. I was always anxious to go to her when I had an issue/question. BUT the Extra Credit is insane. Do the extra credit!! It will raise your grade by at least 10 points.
Dr. Abdou was a great professor, although she had a kinda thick accent, she was very kind and cared about her students. If you take her, stay on top of your work and pay attention in class. She is very responsive to questions and genuinely wants you to understand the material. Her tests were fair and she prepares you well for the final.
Dr. Abdou definitely knows organic chemistry very well, however, she expects her students to understand it just as well as she does. In the lectures, she does not define things, so if you have to look something up you're already behind on what she is talking about. She is incredibly hard to follow, as well as her heavy accent and bad handwriting.
She makes a difficult class a lot easier. She gave a lot of extra credit, and uploads the powerpoints online. Gives practice problems but sometimes without a key which can be annoying. Tests can be hard but if you prepare with material provided, you will be more than ok. She grades quicker than most, usually 2 days after a test the grades are up.
She is an amazing person; cares for her students and gives alot of extra credit. At the same time she does speed through her lectures and expects you to remember previous chemistry classes. Be expected to use outside resources to help get a better understanding.
She is such a good professor. Very helpful when asking questions. The class is hard, but if you show up and do your work, you will be fine. She offers a ton of extra credit.
Great professor and gives out plenty of extra credit opportunities. I would recommend her over any chemistry professor I've had at Blinn. Her lectures are fast paced but available online to review at home. The online homework covers a lot of lecture material so I would recommend studying that. She's also funny.
Professor is okay at teaching, work is do able with putting in work but she can be difficult to work with.
Professor Abdou is tough. She has a thick accent but once you get used to it you can mostly understand everything she says. She speaks fast and writes a lot on the board so get ready to write a lot. She gave several attempts on homework questions so it wasn't bad. I would suggest watching Organic Chemistry Tutor videos to understand better.
I also had her for Chemistry and she is a really caring professor. She has really amazing sense of fashion and is there to get the students to pass her class. Organic isn't an easy course so of course you will need to do some studying and help from her or outside help. Homework is heavy but she gives you 10 tries to get it right. Exams are easy.
Dr. Abdou gives a lot of extra credit and is very caring/sympathetic towards students and their endeavors. She teaches a hard class/ a "weed out" class so the low course grades are not always a direct reflection of Dr. Abdou's teaching methodology. She can be hard to understand sometimes, but is more than willing to repeat what she said.
This professor is passionate and very educated. She loves what she teaches and she cares about her students. She gives us a lot of opportunities. However, sometimes she can be very hard to follow in class. She tends to go very fast and will talk to the board covering what she's writing (unintentionally) and it's hard to read her handwriting.
Dr Abdou is extremely helpful and will do everything she can to help you succeed in the class. Extra points are available for in-class participation and on each exam. Reading the book is helpful. Dr Abdou provides charts that simplify this challenging topic. The lab has mandatory attendance but is very easy. Strongly recommend this professor.
She definitely knows a lot about chemistry. Her lectures are very fast paced, and she goes off of her own notes a lot instead of following the powerpoints, so get ready to do a lot of writing. Her handwriting is a little hard to read sometimes and she has an accent. However, she gives out plenty of extra credit and the labs aren't that bad.
She talks extremely fast during most lectures and has a very heavy accent. When she slows down her speaking when lecturing, she is actually an amazing professor. Don't be afraid to ask her to slow down. She gives a lot of extra credit! Be aware of due dates because she changes a lot of due dates. She is also hard to get a hold of outside of class.
She's a great prof besides the fact that she ends up talking to the whiteboard for most of the lecture, lots of extra credit opportunity, also drops lowest exam grade and replaces it with the final exam instead.
Participation was not required but she gives a lot of extra credit if you come to class and there are a hand full of in person assignments. Dr. Abdou is a wonderful professor this will be the second class of hers I have taken and I will be taking one more next semester. She is very understanding if you are having trouble in the class.
Professor Abdou cares about her students, and there is a lot of extra credit. She will sometimes go a little fast, however, if she can't cover all the material by the exam date she will move the exam back. The homework is pretty similar to the exams, which is super helpful. she made Ochem seem less intimidating and do-able.
Prof Abdou was okay. She is very intimidating and got frustrated when students had questions. Exams are tough, but homework/other easy grades usually balance out to help you pass. She does seem to care about her students but has a very old school approach with lectures (on the whiteboard only, no powerpoint notes...). Labs were also fairly easy.
Dr. Abdou is overall a solid professor. Her lectures can be kind of fast, but most of the material is on powerpoints that are posted online. She gives lots of extra credit opportunities. As for labs, as long as you don't skip them and submit all your pre-labs and reports, you'll be fine. Doing your homework will also help a lot in this class.
Genuinely one of the best professors possible. She gives tons of extra credit. Homework is due the day of the exam, so it's easy to remember. If you're not understanding the material, ochem tutor and leah4sci help a lot. Most of the class is remembering reagents and products. I have a 99 in the class right now and my final is next week :p
I have taken this professor for three other chem classes and she is a great communicator when is comes to explaining course material. This is a difficult class and its easy to get behind. She gives lots of extra credit and is helpful in class and office hours. She wants the best for all her students and will do what she can to help them succeed.
Lectures aren't mandatory but go bc you won't know what's going on if not. She is nicer to you and willing to give more extra credit too. Horrible at responding to emails and has tech problems. Buy the extension to the book for the answers and explanations $18, saved me so much time. Study the homeworks. Class is hard, tests are easy DON'T MISS LAB
She's hard on you at first, but make sure to go to her office hours a week after the exam and review your tests. Make sure you do every single pre lab and lab report possible, and homework. Homework is KEY. Understatement. She's considerate and caring, just show respect and meet with her during office hours as much as you can.
Great professor! You can tell that she cares and wants students to do well. Organic can be tough, but she makes the material easy to understand. Attend lectures, do all the homework assignments and make sure you understand them (this really is key). Also lots of extra credit, so as long as you put in the effort you can definitely make an A.
Organic chemistry is hard but professor abdou made it more approachable. There is plenty of extra credit and the in class reviews are really helpful. The labs are very doable as well.
Chemistry is a challenging subject especially when taking as a fast-paced summer course, but you are in good hands with Dr Abdou. She is funny, knowledgeable, and caring! She brightens our day often by bringing the class jasmine from her garden.
I took this class during a five week summer semester. Everyone was really nervous in the beginning but she has made chemistry enjoyable. She rewards her students who work hard and even shares jasmine from her garden with her students! The tests are very lecture heavy so you will not be getting any surprises. Very worth taking in five weeks!
Dr. Abdou is one of the sweetest professors I've taken. She truly cares about her students, and does everything in her power to ensure their success. Chemistry is not an easy subject, but Dr. Abdou takes time to explain difficult concepts in a multitude of ways so that everyone can understand.
Dr. Abdou is an amazing professor! Chemistry is not an easy course, but Dr. Abdou really takes the time to make sure the material is understood. She is very nice and caring. I recommend taking her class during the summer as she often hands out jasmine flowers that smell really good!
I am so glad I took Dr. Abdou for 1411 and suggest you ignore the poorer reviews. Took her during the summer, and although it is a good amount of work, if you do the work it actually gets you good grades. Completely reasonable and I found her very funny and engaging. She also brought jasmine to class every day and I loved it. Made the class fun!
Chemistry is hard but she offers so much extra credit you WILL pass! You just have to work for it.
This professor was amazing! She really slows down when the class is struggling and I love that she uses every day analogies to help students grasp chemistry concepts. She also brought us fresh jasmine every morning. Super sweet!
Dr. Abdou was great for gen chem 1. She gave lots of extra credit and wanted the whole class to exceed. I definitely recommend this professor!
Dr.Abdou is so sweet and really tries her best to help everyone. She gives out lots of extra credit and tries to get her students to the best grades. She's also really funny when she goes on her side stories! How ever students do need to play close attention to the material the course is difficult material.
I took this class in a 5 week summer course. I loved having Dr. Abdou as a professor. She used great analogies when teaching difficult concepts. The lectures were very helpful for the exams as well as the online homework. The labs were also very simple but the website we used was stressful. Extra credit was also a blessing!
I really enjoyed her, but I took CHEM 1411 as a 5 week summer class so it was quite the information overload and my grade wasn't as good as it could have been. But she seemed to care a lot about her students succeeding and was always willing to answer a question for you and offered a lot of extra credit to supplement a less-than-ideal test grade.
Professor Abdou is one of the best professors I've ever had. She takes really good care of her students, encouraged them, gives Jasmine to everyone, and is so helpful. Unlike some professors, Professor Abdou teaches during her lectures. The only way to fail her class is to not do anything. Dont take the extra credit for granted.
Talks fast but is very thorough
Very knowledgeable and very helpful to students who apply themselves
this class deffinetly had dificult work. the lab is mandatory. she knows what she is talking about, but i deffinetly did a lot of extra work outside of class. she gives a lot of extra credit for tests if you are willing to do it, and she truely does not want to see your faill. i would take this class again, but be ready to work.
Dr. Abdou was a good teacher but went extremely fast during lectures, making it difficult to follow along at times. The tests were also very difficult. However, she offers a lot of extra credit which definitely helps with improving grades.
very nice woman offers lots of extra credit and encourages group work. lab attendance is mandatory.
There was no attendance taken but to get a grade for the lab you had to be there. She gives lots of extra credit and is very nice and encourages group work. She does not like talking in class or students on their phones. She teaches straight from her slides but she also has them posted.
Professor Abdou is seriously amazing! Chem is not an easy course, but she makes it enjoyable, and truly cares about ALL of her students. If you put in the work, you will do so well in this class. She goes pretty fast, but her lectures/slides are always posted, and gives reviews for each exam. She is genuinely the most caring.
if chemistry isn't your best subject be prepared to study outside of class as dr abdou moves quick in lectures, homework takes awhile but manageable, loads of extra credit opportunities and if you participate in class you can get some bonus points. labs are easy, tests require studying so don't procrastinate
Dr. Hanan Abdou is such a kind woman, she cares about her students' success, however, she makes it hard to be successful if you are a person who needs things spelled out for you when it comes to classes such as O chem. She moves incredibly fast and it's really hard to understand what she is trying to teach. She offers lots of extra credit!
Lots of grades and extra credit so you don't just have test grades
Lecture attendance is mandatory due to her exams being based off of what she teaches on the whiteboard, and the textbook/powerpoint having limitations to supplement this material by itself. Professor Abdou appears to really care about her students success. Her classes and labs are little disorganized, but you'll do well if you work hard.
Organic chemistry is a tough course but Dr. Abdou is very helpful, and offers lots of extra credit for exams such as study groups, charts, review questions in class. She made all expectations clear for us at the beginning of the semester and is always open to meeting with students even outside of normal study hours to review exams/ask questions.
Dr. Abdou is a very sweet professor. Her exams are pretty difficult, but she does have reviews for each one. If you have a hard time retaining material after being taught once, outside resources will be necessary. She offers tons of extra credit and that it practically what carried my grade. She is very nice and understanding.
Before taking chemistry, I was getting a lot of comments from friends saying that the class was going to be difficult; Professor Abdou however, made the course much passable in every way possible. Extra credit, guidance on assignments, and much more. She is very caring towards her students and gives advice on how to improve in class.
She is a very smart person, and I acknowledge that, but in my personal opinion she is not the best at teaching. There are also times I just could not understand her due to her accent. She does give a decent amount of EC, but this class still requires lots of studying.
Professor Abdou is very interactive with her students, and is amazing at explaining concepts in a way that will keep you engaged! She offers lots of extra credit for each exam, which I highly recommend doing, because your grade will go up. Overall, do the work and put in the effort and you will get a B or an A in the class!
honestly, i did not like her style much, but she wasn't a horrible professor.
Professor makes tough material easier to understand. She's very willing to help however she can if you attend office hours and communicate.
Her test reviews were very helpful for the exam and it was very easy to get a good grade on her exams if you pay attention and did the reviews. Additionally, her exams had bonus questions which helped a lot. She made her lessons interesting and made the material to where we were able to understand it easily. Overall, she was very nice and caring.
Dr. Abdou is a great professor and makes Organic Chemistry easier to understand. She gives multiple opportunities for extra credit which not only help your grade, but also helps you learn the material even more. Lectures go by fast and the material is very dense so it is important to take really good notes. Tests are hard, the homework helps most.
She is incredibly smart and kind, however, I struggled immensely in her class. It is very fast-paced, and a lot of information is thrown at you, her board work is great, but she goes a mile a minute. However, many extra credit opportunities are given, and the homework is doable. If you do fine on homework and labs, you'll pass! (Barely)
Dr. Abdou is a hard professor for sure. However, she is super nice and understanding of circumstances. She gives lots of extra credit so the grading is pretty accurate. She is also funny! Just make sure to participate and study!!
The lectures are overall well and easy to take notes on (she some times speaks a bit to quick). If you think you missed something from the lecture, the slides are on ecampus. She also makes the test easy to pass by making it similar to the review she has and she gives bonus questions on the test for extra credit. However, there's a lot of homework.
Dr. Abdou is a great professor. This class is a bit difficult, but she gives a ton of extra credit and is always available for questions and willing to help if you put in effort. The class is lecture heavy though so be sure to stay on top of your work and ask questions if you're confused.
Dr. Abdou is a overall good professor. Attendance is not mandatory but necessary to pass her class and is very adamant about paying attention during class. She dose have an accent which can be hard at times but not too bad. If you attend class you are also more likely to get more extra credit opportunities since she dose give out a good amount.
If you understand Ochem she will be great for you. She is extremely smart i will admit. She berates people who give wrong answers. When she is behind in lecture she WILL make it your problem. We had to learn a chapter for both the 3rd & 4th test. We started the class with over 30 people and we are ending with less then 10 people. Won't take again!
teaches by the powerpoint which is also the textbook. It is encouraged to go to lectures because she adds her own personal notes with her own examples. She gives you options on what would help students do better in class such as moving a test or different ways of earning extra credit. She teaches very fast but practicing problems yourself helps
I personally loved her teaching style and the way she explained things. There are tons of extra credit opportunities and her exams are very straightforward; she doesn't try to trick you. She reads off the powerpoint most of the time, but she does add examples and other notes on the board, so attend the lectures and you should be fine!
Lots of opportunity for extra credit. She does drop a number of things, but don't let that make you complacent and end up getting worse grades near the end of the semester, like I did. There is a lot of material to cover, so she talks pretty fast during lectures, but she is always available to help during office hours.
She is extremely understanding and allows extra credit in class. She can be very strict in lab, but as long as you are listening to her instructions and rules, she will try her absolute best to help you. Overall, she has been an amazing professor, and I highly recommend her.
The course itself is very difficult but Dr. Abdou gives a lot of extra credit and she is very helpful during office hours. Lectures are very fast paced but she explains things pretty well and provides examples. Overall, she provides many resources to help you in the course but you have to make sure you take the time to study the material.
Organic Chemistry isn't an easy course. I feel that she made it a lot easier. I had a professor before her who was terrible!! After the first test in her class I felt more confident in the material she was teaching me. She does have an accent so it might be difficult to understand her at times. She gives extra credit!!! Also very helpful in lab!
She is a good professor and teaches the material well. She teaches straight off the slides, so if you have to miss a day you can teach it to yourself. She was very good at giving a lot of extra credit and the lab reports were very simple. The only thing that bothered me was sometimes she would say something and then not follow through.
She was extremely helpful. She always made sure that everyone was on the same page when it came down to understanding the material that was being taught. She always offered extra credit opportunities to help pick up our grades. I would definitely take her class again.
She is very helpful. She always made sure that every student understood the material that was being taught. She gave out a lot of extra credit opportunities to help improve our grades. She always responds to her emails.
She offered several opportunities for extra credit. It is a difficult course, but she is available to help students that need it. Attending lectures is not mandatory as far as Blinn's policy goes, but if you skip too many lectures you could struggle to keep up.
I absolutely love Professor Abdou she really cares for her students. She offers as much extra credit as possible and is always willing to help in class or through her office hours. If i had to take other classes i would definitely pick her again!
If i had to take other Chemistry classes i would 100% pick Dr.Abdou she really cares for her students and will try to do as much as she can to help them. She offers alot of extra credit throught the course and gives more than enough time for homework and other assignments.
professor abdou is a very kind person, but in my opinion a very difficult professor. she has a very thick accent and some of the stuff we cover in this course gets lost easily in her accent. her lectures were practically useless to me and i ended up relying completely on the textbook and outside sources to learn. be prepared to teach yourself alot!
she is so lovely until she gets in a bad mood and then goes insane and yells at people
She is a hard teacher. If you don't understand chemistry on a fundamental level right now as you read this without looking at formulas then she will be great. If you are a normal person who only had gen chem she will be terrible. Our class drop rate was over 50℅. Started with 35+ students and ending with less then 15.
Terrible do not take if you need the class. Forces class to show her the rating we give her on this for extra credit. Most any good review was probably for extra credit. Cant teach and blames class. You will have to make up chapters when she falls behind. Even for the final and last tests. She doesn't care about students. DO NOT TAKE NO MATTER WHAT
Gave a lot of extra credit I am pretty sure it added 10% to my overall grade. She does have a heavy accent and can be difficult to understand, but as long as you write everything she does and make time to study you will get an A/B. At the end of the day it is a science class so it will be difficult no matter what teacher you get.
Professor Abdou is an engaging lecturer who truly wants students to succeed. Though the material is challenging, her extra credit opportunities and use of helpful analogies make the course manageable. Unstuck ai proved a valuable study tool alongside the textbook.
Has a lot of opportunities for extra credit. She teaches effectively and makes her lectures engaging. She has a good sense of humor and clearly cares for her students. Tests aren't too bad.
Take Abdou for General Chemistry 1. She has lots of extra credit opportunities and makes it really hard to get a bad grade in her class. Her accent is pretty strong so beware but overall such a great professor.
There are great Extra credit opportunities; all lectures are on e-campus on a slideshow, and the tests aren't too hard. Just make sure to attend lab and lecture, and you will do fine.
Professor Abdou was an amazing professor to have for CHEM, especially for someone who isn't particularly strong in chemistry and was worried about doing well. She really makes sure to explain the concepts in detail, and genuinely wants to see you succeed. Tests are fair, and lab aren't too bad as she goes over them with you. Lots of E.C. as well!
She was a great professor, very helpful and made chemistry fun!
Professor Abdou genuinely cares about her students and wants you to succeed in this course. She provides lot of extra credit opportunities if you attend lecture and is willing to work problems out with you. However, her lectures are at times difficult to follow and her exams can be difficult and not exactly align with the reviews she provides.
GREAT PROFESSOR! caring, and her class has so much extra credit. If you want an A in the class, TAKE HER. She's a great lecturer. Her class is entertaining. Do the reviews she posts, and you should be fine. Also, going over the slides was VERY HELPFUL. Btw I had 100 in her class.
I love her! I'm currently getting an A. Just make sure you GO TO CLASS because she gives a lot of extra credit, but only if you're there. Review the slides carefully since she often pulls from them. The practice exams can help, but her real exams are usually harder. Do all the work and try your best on the exams, and you should be able to get an A.
Pretty good teacher overall. Hard to understand at first due to her accent, but eventually can get used to it. Tons of extra credit is given as well as available office hours. Although, the reviews are 10 times easier compared to her exams, which doesnt really prepare you well for them
Her accent is a little hard to understand but it gets better as you go on. Although lecture isn't required you should attend anyways, she reviews the math questions in class. There are many extra credit opportunities. Lab is mandatory and make sure you wear the proper equipment or she'll kick you out the lab.
Although lecture attendance wasn't mandatory ,It is highly recommended that you go as much of each test is based off the lectures and many extra credit opporrunities are given in lecture. Each lab is mandatory and most are done with a group or the professor. There are many grades that are dropped and opportunities to improve your grade.
This prof is really nice and the class is not too hard to get a good grade in. Just attend class, pay attention, and take advantage of extra credit she gives as she gives a lot. Tests are relatively hard, but the homework and slides are a big help (and one is replaced by final). Even if you aren't great at chem, do this for the extra credit.
She explains things very well and provides soooo much extra credit. There are no lab exams, you must be present in order to receive credit for labs.
She truly cares about her students and will do anything to help. She gives out lots of extra credit that help with understanding the material. Would recommend her to anyone!
Professor Abdou is AMAZING! She is super helpful, and she really wants all her students to succeed. There is tons of extra credit and outside resources. She is one of the best professors I have ever had. I would recommend her to anyone.
I loved her lectures. She provides the PPT, which contains all the contents. So you don't need to read the textbook. She has a good teaching style and is very caring about the students. I appreciate her efforts in caring for the individual students' studies and her kind help. And A LOT of EXTRA CREDIT!!
Dr. Abdou is honestly a great professor in terms of extra credit and caring for her students. The exams are really hard but if you attend lectures and study you'll do fine. She does have a bit of an accent but its nothing that will stop you from understanding her if you listen clearly. Overall I would take her again.
Her accent is hard to understand with the content and how fast she speaks, but it gets better (kind of). Very caring and a LOT of extra credit. I personally had to do a lot of learning outside of class; a lot of the times she explains things 10x harder than they need to be. Tests are always hard no matter how much you study.
She is an amazing Professor, if you get the chance to take her class do it. She gives plenty of extra credit and help during office hours. She's very understanding and willing to explain the material. There's a decent amount of homework/labs but if you complete them and do well they will really help boost your grade.
This professor was super helpful all semester! She made sure we had everything we needed and offered so much extra credit and dropped lots of grades. I would take her again for sure!
Professor Abdou is a great professor! She has a thick accent that can be a little difficult to understand, but she is very open to answering questions and clarifying herself. She also provides a lot of extra credit, so even if you do not do well on the exams you will most likely still do good in the class.
She was easy to work with and had plenty of extra credit opportunities but it was hard to understand lectures due to her accent. I was able to meet with her during office hours and she took the time to explain assignments and lectures more clearly
Dr Abdou is a passionate professor and wants her students to succeed. She is avalible outside of class and provides a good amount of extra credit throughout the semester. I personally did struggle to understand her teaching at times due to her accent and had to teach myself most material using the textbook.
She's an amazing professor, but she moves very fast during lectures. I often struggled to keep up, and by the time I finished writing one problem, she was already several ahead. She gives a lot of extra credit, but you'll need to study on your own. Her explanations can be harder than the material. Don't slack off at all.
If you struggle with Chemistry, TAKE HER. Be ready to do the work it's not just a class to blowoff but if you do the work, you will get the grade you want. She is very caring and wants you to succeed. She gives lots of extra credit so make sure that you take advantage of that.
Dr. Abdou is a wonderful professor and one of my favorite teachers ever! The class was challenging, but her lectures provided more than enough material to be prepared. Go to class and take notes. She is very kind and I often went to office hours for extra help - she was always welcoming and ready to help me learn. I really really enjoyed her class!
She is a very caring professor and offers A LOT of extra credit throughout the semester to help boost your grade. I would 100% take advantage of this!! Her lectures did go fairly quickly since there is a lot of content to cover so you have to do independent studying; however, she does take the time to explain it if you ask.
Professor Abdou is amazing at giving you as many opportunities as she can. Her lectures are not hard to follow and she uses a lot of real-life examples to help understand certain topics. She's accessible outside of class time so you can always get extra help if you need it. If you try on the lab practical and study for the exams you'll get an A.
Be prepared to study. The test are difficult otherwise, but lab grades and homework, as well as extra credit make up for it.
The content in this course was incredibly easy to understand since the professor actively simplified the concepts for all of the students to understand. The professor also expects students to constantly engage in the lessons and subsequently provides incredibly helpful feedback.
It's a really challenging course but my rating doesn't have much to do with that. She doesn't teach well, has a short temper, and doesn't put in the effort to help students. Her accent is really challenging to understand at times, which can make it much harder to understand the material. Would not recommend.
Dr. Abdou was an amazing professor for my CHEM-1411-304. As a student who tends to struggle in math and hard subjects like chemistry, Dr. Abdou made it way better. She gives so much extra credit opportunitys and drops your worst grades in each catagory. If you study and work hard in her class then you will succeed.
Decent teacher if you need a good grade. Ms. Abdul gives a good amount of extra credit and is clear on what the tests will be over.
She provided lots of time in class to review and gave many opportunities for extra credit.
She is kind and cares about her students. Extra credit helps but is added only at the end as a cumulative grade. Pearson homework is due on test days and can pile up. Be aware of pre lab quizzes, they'll sneak up on you. Lectures can be hard to follow. Attendance only matters for labs, and missing them blocks lab reports. Tough class but she tries.
While she can be good at explaining some topics, others she is very surface level on and moves extremely fast throughout the course during lectures. Would not recommend this professor.
Professor Abdou maintains a classroom that is easy to interact in. Lectures can be long, but she works lots of practice questions and provides multiple reviews before exams. There is extra credit however some of these chances will only be in class, so show up. Also, she makes labs easy to complete relieving some stress so you can focus on lectures.
DO NOT TAKE. Professor was really nice, but her accent is extremely thick and hard to understand. Lots of busy work. The lectures are not helpful as she just "goes over" foreign material. The exam reviews were hardly anything like the exams. Over half the class struggled to make mediocre grades on the exams. She does offer a lot of extra credit.
Lots of extra credit. Really hard tests.
As someone who did poorly in HS Chem, attending all her classes helped me understand the material. She gives TONS of extra credit. Offers lots of reviews and tells you what to know in class for exams. She does have an accent, but you get used to it. Go to ETC sessions to prepare for tests, it will help you. Answered all my questions and emails.
My main complaint about this teacher is how she does her test, I would multiple hours studying for each test and get to the test and have absolutely no clue what I'm doing. However, she offered a lot of extra credit that could bring up your grade by a whole letter if you do it, so never skip out on it.
Actually a goat, so much extra credit and tests are so easy. She has a bit of an accent but that shouldnt be an excuse as everything is so easy to get a good grade on. labs are easy and 4 exams, 1 final, i currently have a 100 average in december so..
The professor is a great teacher and really knows what she is doing. Make sure you pay attention to her class because it is very fast paced.
Good teacher but make sure to pay attention in lectures and stay on top of hw.
Professor Abdou is knowledgeable and breaks down concepts into simpler, easier to understand terms. Would take her again.
She is very knowledgeable; however, she moves at a breakneck pace and can be hard to keep up with. Overall, not bad; I would just choose a different professor in the future. SHe is very nice though and gives plenty of extra credit opportunities.
Gives all needed information directly off the lecture slides. Lots of extra credit and dropped grades. Always available to meet to discuss tests/content, and doesn't hesitate to reexplain concepts if you ask.
The class material is dense and the pace is breakneck, but Professor Abdou does everything she can to help you keep up and understand the material. She happily recontextualizes concepts to gain better understanding and gives plenty of extra credit. Drops assignments & makes herself available whenever she can. Would take again, but moving campuses.
Professor Abdou is great at teaching/making sure students understand the topics she is explaining. There is a lot of extra credit that is related to course work, including practice problems. The course itself is difficult and very fast paced, but she does a good job keeping up with the syllabus and giving more time when needed. Would take again!
Fast-paced class, but Dr. Abdou gives lots of extra credit!
Great prof. very kind and willing to work with you. Only bad thing is reviews don't help prepare you for exams.
Great professor, lots of extra credit and explains all material very well.
Go to class even though it's not mandatory. She notices who shows up and is more understanding if you ever need an extension. She also drops many assignments, so it's hard not to get a good grade as long as you keep up with the work and do well on the exams. To me the exams where not hard. I gave myself one night to study and still got a 77.

Literally the goat. Gave so much extra credit, really good at explaining things, funny accent. All homework assignments are open at once and due the night before the exam. Labs were easy and informative.
Dr. Abdou is very passionate about chemistry and it shows in how she takes the time to explain all the mechanisms in class. Although attendance is not mandatory, attending lectures make the material more digestible as she gives lots of good tips and tricks she used herself when she was in school. She gives lots of extra credit opportunities.
Professor Abdou is an excellent professor who makes Ochem feel manageable. She is deeply caring if you put forth effort and wants you to pass. She provides a lot of extra credit and the overall work load is not bad. However, she can easily confuse herself (language barrier) if you ask questions so do have your questions extremely clear and concise.
She is such a good professor and is extremely understanding. Pay attention in class and you will do well. She gives so many extra credit opportunities, and drops a decent amount of grades.
Very nice teacher she makes the class very comfortable and teaches based on how much our brains can handle (if it's too much she'll hold off the lecture for next class). PLEASE if you have to do this course take her she's nice and makes the class funny too. You'll enjoy being in it.
Dr.Abdou is an amazing chemistry professor. She gives a lot of extra credit, and she is lenient. Her lectures are a little long, but they are very good. If I had the opportunity to take a chemistry class with her again, I would.
Strict deadlines but not too hard.
This was a difficult class, but the professor will make sure that you understand the material so that you can succeed. She also gives out A LOT of extra credit so it is definitely possible to get a B or higher in the class. Attendance is not mandatory, although I do recommend showing up to class every day.
She's a very nice teacher. As long as you show up and pay attention in class, you should be good. She offers a lot of extra credit, which really helps your grade. I would definitely take her again. Some of her tests are a little hard, but you can still manage to get a good grade in the class. She also offers a lot of help.
Professor Abdou is overall a good professor, however is a little hard to understand at first, but the accent definetly grows on you. Her practice exams are a lot easier than the actual exams. She gives a lot of extra credit in class and outside of class.
I had Professor Abdou for CHEM-1411 this semester. I found her lectures difficult to follow, so I had to spend a lot of time outside of class learning the material. She gives a lot of extra credit and drops a fair amount of assignments. The class is in no way easy, but I appreciate the way Professor Abdou prepared us and provided many exam material
Professor Abdou is overall a good professor, however, if you struggle with understanding accents, you may struggle in the beginning or the semester (definitely gets easier to understand throughout the semester). Her practice exams were a lot easier than the actual exams. She gives a lot of extra credit in class and outside of class.
I would recommend taking this course with Dr. Abdou. She is well organized, knowledgeable, and willing to help. This course is lecture heavy, but she offers a lot of extra credit and is willing to drop some low homework grades if needed.
Professor Abdou is truly wonderful overall. Her grading is fair and she offers a decent amount of extra credit. She is sometimes difficult to understand with her accent but she is thorough.
Overall I really loved this class. The labs were genuinely fun and I'm glad we were able to work together because it made everything so much easier to understand. Sometimes the lectures were a little fast and hard to follow. I'm also really thankful for all the extra credit opportunities they definitely helped boost my grade and kept me motivated.
Dr. Abdou is a very caring teacher, and is not afraid to reward learning. Participating in and outside of class gives you plenty of extra credit and she makes learning chemistry easy.
Really enjoyed this class! The material wasn't always easy, but the professor explained concepts clearly and used real examples that actually made it stick. I appreciated how organized the lectures were and how quick they were to respond to emails. If you show up and put in the effort, you'll do well.
Challenging course, but fair. The professor moves fast, so you've got to keep up, but they always pause to answer questions and make sure we understand what's going on. Their study guides before exams were super helpful. Definitely recommend taking notes and not falling behind.
Good professor overall. Lectures are clear, and the examples help, but sometimes the pace felt a little quick. However, they were always available during office hours and genuinely tried to help when something wasn't clicking. If you study, you'll be fine.
Good professor, especially if you're willing to stay caught up. They're very helpful when you ask questions, but the course moves quickly. As long as you review a little each week, it's manageable.
She's a good professor. I'm not the best when it comes to science so class could be hard at times with how fast she can go, but overall I've had a great experience in her class.
Overall I had a good experience in this class. She cares about her students and making them better. She makes sure everyone knows the material before taking exams and makes sure the class stays engaged during lectures.
I'm usually awful at science classes and that is why the difficulty is a 5. She is a great professor and really cares for her students. She will help make sure you understand material and gives out lots of extra credit.
Lectures had great material and were straight forward. She got to the point and explained things very well. As long as you study and practice the material you will be fine.
Good chem professor and made things easy to understand. Was only difficult if you're not too great at chem, like me. She will help you and make sure you're understanding the material. Just study and you will be fine.
Professor Abdou's 1411 class is definitely not an easy class, but if you pay attention during lectures and stay on top of things outside of class you'll most likely make a B at least. She includes lots of extra credit, and many grades are dropped in the gradebook, leaving room to make an A in her class.
Only negative was a heavy accent and sometimes hard to understand, but very kind and understanding and answers any questions you have. Sometimes hard to read handwriting on the board as well but overall pretty good teacher.
This class was well-balanced between labs and lectures. The labs were a lot of fun and very interactive, and went well with what we were learning in class. The lectures were sometimes fast-paced, so coming to class and following along are key; likewise, Professor Abdou provided clear analogies that helped students better understand the topics.

Good chem professor, fair grader and easy labs!
Lectures are pretty straightforward with the slides posted and labs are super easy and have lots of direction!
The in-class questions and the given reviews are remarkably comparable to those on the tests. Overall, the class is manageable provided you pay attention in class and keep up with your assignments.
The workload is normal for a science and expectations are clear. This class does give i=opportunities for extra credit!
Good slides and in class examples.
Extra credit for almost every test for a couple points. Coursework mainly consists of labs and mastering chem, as long as you can stay on top of your work and go over the lectures you should do fine!
Dr. Abdou is very caring and really cares about her students. Will answer all of your questions and help you if you go to her!
Very helpful during labs and really good at answering any questions and exolains things very simply!
Lecture slides are very clear and easy to understand, and labs are super easy and you get a whole separate class period to complete the lab assessment questions that are super easy!
I enjoyed the class overall and I think the notes where very helpfull. there is not much I would change about the class. Class is a lecture over the notes that she posted followed up by a lab. There is homework for every unit but it isnt anything crazy. There is lots of room for extra credit if you pay attention in class.
Don't take this professor, you can't understand her (thick accent) and basically have to teach yourself everything. She The labs are easy but tests are difficult and the reviews do not prepare you AT ALL. She gave us extra credit for leaving her a good rating on this so don't trust anything any of these people are saying because it's fake. #RUN
Do not take she will make your semester miserable. She goes so fast in lectures and you will have to teach yourself a concept that is already pretty difficult. She gives some extra credit opportunities but doesn't do enough. There is also 5 exams :/ Save yourself the trouble now and find a better professor.
You will not be able to understand her and she goes so fast in lecture. The reviews do not prepare you for the exams and there is 5 of them. Also she gave us 2 points extra credit if we gave her a good review on rate my professor so take that into consideration when these people are glazing her because most likely its for that grade boost.
Lowkey wish I could go back and not take this professor. She made the class which already hard even worse. Can't understand her especially with how fast she talks and you will be teaching yourself everything.
Don't take save yourself the time and stress this class and professor will give you now!
Her accent is very heavy and rushes through the lecture slides making it harder to understand her. Definitely will have to teach yourself if you take this class. Recommend trying to find a better prof
Professor Abdou was a great teacher, her lectures were hard but she worked hard to make sure we could understand the material. She also gives a lot of extra credit that will help boost your grade in addition to homework and labs it really helped bring up my average.
During the lecture, the professor is very hard to understand. When she realizes she is out of time, she rushes through slides and examples. Gives out a lot of extra credit, and yes, attendance is not mandatory, but I highly encourage going to class because the criteria is tough and she gives a lot of her extra credit during class.
I was dreading this class at first but the professor gives so much extra credit and she genuinely spends the effort to make sure we understand the topic. I would suggest asking for one-on-one explanation sessions to clear up anything you didn't get from the lectures.
She gives so much extra credit and drops so many grades that I ended up with over 100 despite not submitting 3 labs and some Pearson homework. The labs are pretty much a free 100 every time as she tells you exactly what to put. I will say that if you have 0 prior chemistry knowledge it might be more difficult to follow. (I took AP Chem and got a 5)
