He is the worst
Very very very high expectations and no help!
Eytan is NOT a teacher. He has some knowledge, but NO skills in imparting it. He is also very lazy (he didn't bring enough exams to the midterms and misnumbered the multiple choice) and makes students feel stupid when they ask questions.
Do not take this class with Eytan. He is very confusing and not helpful at all.
DO NOT TAKE HIM. THE WORST.
Hard! Don't ask or answer questions cause if you are wrong he will put you down! Exams were tough and he lowered the class average from a B+ to a B half way through the semester. You were responsible for everything (notes/book)
The WORST Professor I have known after getting my 3rd degree. Took him two years ago. Would not help students, expect to know everything and make you feel stupid. No teaching skills at all.
Worst professor I ever had at Baruch. Monotone voice, lack of enthusiasm and annoying facial structure make this class extremely hard to get through. Hard tests & not sympathetic towards students' needs. Only 2 things he's good for: knows the material well & doesn't take attendance. I never went.
European teaching style. Need politcorrectness?Do not take him.Want knowledge?Take. He came from MIT.He teaches at the level of MIT Business Sch. He tolerates MISTAKES not BS. He assumes(and your employer)that you remember what you have already studied. Come to his office if something is unclear!!!
Do not take him. He does not help the students. He posts practice exams with the wrong answers. He confuses himself and you in class. He does not answer questions at all. He may be a nice guy, but he is a horrible teacher. I will give him credit, he does know his stuff- he just can't teach it.
He brings shame to multiyani and miller as well as their propositions with or without taxes
It's not a Toomar! I'm a cop you idiot. This is really hard, but there's no better way to start your finance education, because you will study your ass off. My 9781 is not even half as hard as this (Katz).
If you want to learn and get real world experience, then this is the guy NOT to take. Very smart guy just not a good teacher. The worst professor in Baruch.
some of the comments here are too harst. I got an A in his class and yet I did just ok on his tests. He's tough, but if you're prepared for class then you can survive. Everyone thinks he's too difficult but that's just because other baruch professors are too damn easy.
Worst Teacher Ever!
His class is hard and you will not learn anything. He will fail you. DO NOT TAKE.
I also got an A in his class. Just come prepared to class and you should do fine.
EASY CLASSES..tests are reasonable.. u don't need 2 go 2 class 2 get an A.he doesn't take attendance except for the last 4 or 5 classes..I attended 5 of his lectures during Spring Semester and i still pulled an A for both of his classes.. Juz study hard from the book and u'll be fine.. CD from CoOp Fin text book helps, all questions come from there
The worst professor ever, you can only depend on self-study.
not clear
Read your chapters in advance so you will understand what's going on in class. If you do your work, you will get good grades and end knowing a lot. He is not a bad teacher! He is very generous in the end and you will be rewarded! Be active in class also it'll count towards the final exam!
his an alright teacher. no need to go to class. just read the book, just study the cd and the review sheets. there were 6 or 7 questions exactly the same questions and format. dont listen to the other comments, they were too lazy to even look at the review sheets. just read the book, the cd, and his review sheets . EASY A~!!!!!!
He is not hard. Study on ur own he does not teach anything. Study his review sheet and the CD he gets his test questions from test bank in the cd trust me. He curved alot for my summer session course. I got an A so do ur best on the test. Remember he does not teach anything.
I took the summer session, highly recommend not taking this professor. He doesn't really care if you understand the material or not. If you ask a question, he makes you feel stupid as if you were not paying attention.
Guy's teaching style suck. But exam questions are all from the textbook CD. Very easy to get A if you do questions in text CD. Other than that, learn finance from MIT Phd!
EASY EASY A! If anyone took ECO 3100 with Huckins, you know how easy this class can be! EVERY QUESTION ON EXAM IS IN THAT CD!!! His teaching style is kinda dull but he has his brilliant moment from time to time.
EASY EASY A for adv corp finance class. Avoid his investment analysis though. He's not that bad as people seem to be portraying. He gives us clarity of direction and since he uses test bank for exams, students know exactly what they can expect from exams and study accordingly. This class ruled becuz I had other classes that were more time consuming
this professor sucks!his classes are boring..very unclear lectures and if you ask him anyhting, he makes fun of you..definately not for finance majors..make you hate finance
very easy professor...what he teaches is all in the book...just try to keep up with the readings..he doesnt assign hw but goes over problems in class..exams are just like his practice ones...he does have this tendency of putting students on the spot when asking questions. overall not that bad.
Hated this professor becasue all he does it read what is in the book back to you. Even the powerpoints are from the books website. If you ask a question or give the wrong answer he makes you feel like a fool. Found the class boring and only went because he takes attendance.
everything will be fine if you take this prof, but he reads only by the powerpoint slides. tests were not bad either. 2 exams and a final, but he is a worst grader if u r a below b avg student.
This is the worst professor in Baruch College. I worked hard in the class and got a grade of D+. He gives 2 midterms and 1 final. His exams are really hard. And he gives a lot of material to study. For the final we had to know 16 chapters. There was no way I could have read all the chapters. Stay away from this professor. All exams are mc.
do not take him at any cost. He doesn't teach. His tests are hard. Classes are from power point. He doesn't do any problem in class. Boring class. NO NO NO.
Lets you bring in a "cheat sheet" except for the 1st test. DO NOT miss many classes because he lowers your grade a lot at the end of the semester!
worst method of teaching, he reads from slides, hardly troubles his hand to write and solve the problem in class. tests are easy and material is easy too. he has no teaching skills, fair grader.
The only reason that people write good ratings for this professor is because they want you to take him so the seats in other professor's classes will be open and they will take him. Do not be fooled. I would rather to delay my graduation by 1 semester than take this professor. Horible 11 chapters for the mid-term, 16 for the final. Take Onochie if
DO NOT TAKE HIM, UNLESS YOU ARE A SELF-STUDIER AND A DAMN GOOD ONE.
Great class to take ur laptop and do other class hws. Also great way to lose faith in education at baruch. I am so proud of myself for enduring through entire semester with this guy and still maintain my sanity.
Read the other ratings... listen to us all... STAY AWAY FROM THIS LOSER !!! SAVE YOURSELF !!!! If you dont listen to us you will regret it... im serious. His teaching method turns a simple financial equation into some complex confusing garbage. This is a seminar rather than a class. This class eliminated the little faith I had left for Baruch.
This professor sucks and you have no way of knowing how you're doing in the class. He says he curves the test but when you get your final grade, you wonder what happened to the curve.
The worst professor in Baruch College. I worked hard in the class and earned a grade of C+. He gives two exams 25% each and the final is worth 50%. Stay away from this professor. He does not know how to teach. When he teaches, he doesn't care that u learn he just cares about finishing the topics fast. He makes students look stupid. STAY AWAY
I received A- for this course. I disagree with other comments. Prof Eytan is one of the best professors in Baruch College. He gives 2 midterms, 1 final and 3 hws. All exams are mc. His exams are not hard if you pay attention in class. Some questions he takes exactly from the books website. He curves exam to class average of 80. I recommend
DONT take him..u will not learn anything in class...u will regret taking him...he will ruin ur GPA.
THE WORST THERE IS NOTHING MORE THAT I CAN SAY ABOUT THIS PROFESSOR
I dont want to say much...just dont take him at any cost...I can bet...u will regret and will not learn anything...he is THE WORSE
doesn't know how to teach, doesn't care if you learn, won't answer your question. whatelse i can say about him beside WORST!
A very difficult professor, both with his exams and how he interacts with students. he knows his****, but can't teach at all. he belittles students who asks question - just lazy and vulgar. i knew he was terrible, but given how he fits my schedule i thought if i studied hard, i would do okay. his tests are impossible. avoid. baruch's black sheep!
People just don't give him enough credit. As you may have noticed, all 4000++ classes are more difficult than those we took as freshmen. If you give no effort, than you will get what you deserve. Don't think you will just walk out with an A, but its possible. Not as bad as most people say.
This guy is an ahole. The worst educated professor ever. RUN! Avoid this loser. He doesn't know how to explain stuff much less present it. Horrible...
Not as bad as people write. Curve on midterm was 35 points. I got 109. I'm sure there are other professors who are easier, but this was one of the easiest A's I ever got. And I learned enough that now FIN 4710 is a breeze.
This guy is a F***er cant belive he is teaching ADVISE DONT TAKE HIM!!!!!!!
Just don't take him! IF you don't wanna waste your time. He is terrible in teaching. He doesn't care about teaching. He also made mistake on exam problems. I don't know why he can teach at Barcuh. He make student confuse. Be honestly, i study by myself, i read the whole book and do the excercise. he never treat our class seriously. when he got sic
DO NOT TAKE HIM...he is one of those terrible prof...he will make transcript look ugly....
TAKE SOMEELSE!
He is really the worst. There can't be worse than this, so register for whoever is available besides this guy.
He is not student friendly and is very insultive at times. If you want to lower your gpa join his class, but my advice to you is to stay clear of this professor. The (Dept)head should take stock of his rating which is a true reflection of him.
He tends to be an **** towards students especially if you try to participate, but I think participation does boost your grade if he remembers you. Class is hard and its sometimes hard to understand him because of his teaching style/accent, but read the book and study notes and you should do alright on the tests considering he gives large curves.
I tend not to criticize professors but he is the one that I'd say people have to stay away from. he isn't very nice to students and would taunt you if you gave a wrong answer. the atmosphere in his classroom is dead cold, beyond boring. heavy accents, mono-toned. class average 13/25, but he gives a 20% curve which may help you. but u learn nth
The professor is very tough, he excpects alot out of you and holds you to higher standards. You will learn a lot but you will need to put in the effort. I did and got an A in his class. If you are looking for an easy A don't bother, but if you want to really prepare yourself for the world of finance, than there is no one better.
Unbelievable. Terrible. Horror show. No idea what the hell he's talking about in class. I wanna slap him in the face and tell him to wake up and start teaching the way he's supposed to.
Took this guy in the 1st summer session and got an A. 1 Midterm, 1 Final, 2 Summaries and 2 Oral Quizzes. This guy expects a lot from us and sets a very high standard. I did not do very well but still managed to get an A because most of the students in both classes did very bad. Average was like 56 and he gave a 25 curve.
Worst Professor ever
Learn a lot in a short time! Great teacher, but very demanding.
he should not be teaching
if you want to learn do not take this professor. dont know what you are going to get untill you acutally get the grade..
This guys does not how to teach. I do not know how the hell he's got the job. He should be fired. I think all the student should complain about him at the dean's office.
THIS GUY IS TERRIBLE
This guy is disrespectful, non courteous, doesn't care or seem to have feelings. He knows the material but expects students to be on the same level. Doesn't explain well and puts you down when you ask a question. Also very unapproachable.
Very good class! Contrary to some previous comments, he is very helpful to students.
I think all those raters are either lazy or college is not their first priority! The professor is GOOD! he's clear and is happy to help all the time! just listen to him, read the note+book and you'll do fine on the exams! he doesnt try to complicate the exams. However, the final was a lil hard. Anyways, he curves like 30 points.I got an A,take him.
This professor is the hardest professor I have ever encountered at Baruch. He is not easy. If you take his class make sure you are a full time student with a lot of time on your hands. Be prepared for a midterm, two executive summaries, a ridiculous group project and a final. If you fail the final you fail the class.
Course is incredibly clear and everything is in the book. Professor can make an offhand comment once in a while, but this makes class funny and if you can't take it, get out of finance. Don't forget that Finance is competitive which implies competence, so you should study before complaining.
Overall, good professor. Teach very well. You need to read the book entirely to do good in the exams since he asked for very detailed information. He curves a lot so as long as you do good or average in class, you should be able to get an A/B in this class.
This is the WORST professor ever. He is very RUDE, doesn't know how to explain and is very nasty when ask any questions. BE CAREFUL you might end up with a very bad grade even if you do well in all the test. He grades depending on how much he likes you. THE WORST PROFESSOR. I do not understand why he is teaching, HE CAN NOT TEACH AT ALL,HE'S BAD.
Prof. Eytan was substituting for another prof., who left Baruch. LISTEN TO ME GUYS, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. Does not teach or explain problems! Extremely hard, test are all cumulative. Take it from a student who loves finance and math, do not take this Prof. Only 5-9 students left in class, who couldn't drop course because it was their last semeste
Hard professor but has a ridiculous curve. If you are good at finance and work hard and do homework...take this course. You can get an A, you just have to do well on the exams...read his notes and do problems from the textbook.
OMG, He is terrible!!! He know his stuff, this class for me was interesting but not because of him but because I needed to read the entire book in order to uderstand. He had to curve his examn so bad becaue every one do terrible on them. Got a B- that totally hurt my GPA... Take some one else, avoid this teacher by all means!!
worst professor ever.. does not explain well, thick accent cant understand a thing hes saying. and his tests are ridiculous.. has problems that never been tough nor seem. BEWARE
Omg, this professor is the worst professor at Baruch! He expects you to know everything, because he is a professor from MIT. Never understood a word he said all semester, and his exams are way too difficult. He's rude, disrespectful and hates when students ask questons in class. Take him if you want to lower your GPA. Otherwise, avid at all costs.
Very good Professor. Teaches a lot and expects a lot. He sets the class average at 80. The exams and the grades are fair. You can get an A but you have to work for it. Not recommended for lazy bums.
Hands down the worst teacher.
To know the material doesnt make a Professor, He knows a lot. If you have the time to read the chapter b4 class and dont mind having "Terminator" in bad mood teaching you, Take it. Gets upset when someone speaks low or w accent. temperamental, Class felt like a North Korean or Russian Regiment not a lerning environment. too sad for Baruch.
he's humorous but he starts writing away and talking.. like to himself. majority of class dont understand what he says... participation makes him happy. i regretted taking him... but i did good on midterm so i'll cry after i get my grade for final. he didn't give us our group project assign. til 2 wks before final. not even an outline.dunowuttodo!!
Fair grading. If you are better than average it is likely you will get an A. Lots of arbitrage thinking. The math is not hard, even though it has a fin. engineering part (like half a semester). Take it if you are intereste in finance.
If you want to learn valuation, this is probably the only decent class for it.
He's funny. He makes the tough stuff seem easy, but if you don't actually spend the time on it you'll get lost. His grading insures that if you are better than average you will have at least a B+. Good professor but strict. He may be easier in the summer semester.
I thought of dropping him, but I'm glad i didn't. He's very knowledgeable and cares about student's learning. If you go to his office he will take the time to clarify anything you need. His lectures are very clear. The exams are not easy but the grading is relative to the class average. TAKE HIM!
Short and sweet Summer semester! Clear and to the point kind of teaching!
Read the textbook and pick out details. Study, study and study as an A is obtainable. He curves the tests so a b- is what the average student in class will get. Work hard to get above average that all.
Thank God for the curve! His lectures are less helpful than desired tests were primarly from textbook. Took him over the summer and got a B. U MUST read the book and you should be fine. Not as bad as ppl make him out to be, he ain't that great either. I'd take him again
I have a decent GPA (3.6) that I have worked hard; so clearly I do take school seriously. However, this professor is HORRIBLE!! Does not teach in a clear way and makes you feel like a moron for trying and giving the wrong answer. He exams are ridiculous and so is his curve which was almost 30 pts for the first midterm since so many students failed.
Very good teacher.
Hd is the best finance professor out there
One of only a couple of classes to teach company valuation, and very good at this. I highly recommend it to above average students.
He gives connect homework, 2 midterms and a final. the exams are similar to the textbook and connect problems. It's a pity he's not gonna teach it again next semester!
Good Professor. very smart, and he knows very well about financial field. Also, his teaching material is not normal level, but above leverage. If you study hard , you will survive in this class. Just one thing, he is not clear at all,so for the midterm and final just study everything from class which means you gotta spend lots of time for studying.
This is really a challenging class. I feel like a ran a marathon! If dream about investment banking you want this class!
Self explanatory!
Hard and a bit intimidating, but you will get used to it. You can really learn a lot if you have the time to study like he wants you to. Since he sets the class average to B, it is not hard to get a B or better, especially if you participate (which he likes a lot...)
Hey guys! im still at his class, i'm still at the hell. He is smart, no doubts! but he doesn't know how to teach! very boring! 3 tests, only on final you can bring a formula sheet. otherwise you gotta memorize. connect required. if you have another option, take diff. prof, if not, good luck!
Avoid if you can! You basically have to teach yourself all the material and read the book over and over! Very smart but not clear at all, makes the class boring, NO formula sheets, skips chapters but expects you to know them, speaks low, & most of the time can't hear when you ask something....you decide
Fair midterm exams, but no cheat sheet. He allows one page of notes for the final.Boring at times but very interesting at other times.
Very comprehensive test. He asks about everything! He announced course grades and 14 got A and 7 got F.
The semester is over and some who didn't get the grade they wanted come out to trash the professor. I got less than I hoped for, but I know why- i didn't study! This professor Is really good. Take him and you'll learn something.
A perfect example of a very brilliant person who cannot teach worth his life. Simply reads off the PowerPoint slides that are just the generalization of the chapters in the textbook, which is useless since his exams ask very detailed questions. Avoid if possible, but if not, then know the textbook by heart, because you will not learn in class.
Took him during summer. Class was very boring but exams were ok. 2 midterms, I final. Connect required. If you study, you could get an A. He curves too :) so if you do bad in he first test, you still have a chance to get B+ but you must do your homework an do well in the final and the 2nd midterm. It was a sweet summer session. Went by quick.
Clear and to the point. He doesn't waste time on fluff, and he tells you what works and what doesn't work in practice. Will definitely take him again.
interesting class!
He is great prof. Only 3 exam, first 2 exam each 20%, final exam is 50%, and 10% Hw, even u didn't well on first exam,u still have chance get A.Do the hw problem again & again, u will be fine.Take him, if u want to learn Finance
The best professor I've had. What you learned from him is his practical experience from the real world rather than the book. Take him, no regret. The test is hard and nothing related to what he said but the book. So you'd rather read the book yourself and pay attention to him. Attendance is mandatory. Having fun and easy A.
This is a really advanced class. You can do well if you study regularly, or get lost very quickly if you don't. The exams are fair and he curves a lot. Good class, but relies heavily on his teaching notes rather than the book.
His knowledge is good for himself. Worst professor in Baruch college. Trust me, one will waste their money and time with him.
OMG! I am taking him now in the summer session. He covers everything on exams without mercy of the limited time constraint. He knows his stuff but makes you feel stupid when you participate and get answers wrong. I recommend studying in advance before class or YOU WILL BE LOST! DO NOT TAKE HIM IN THE SUMMER!!
This is a self-taught class, if you read the book and trully understand the subject you'll do fine. He does not have a "curriculum" for the class, he follows the publisher's slides and he tests on what's on the book not his lectures. I learned nothing from him, nothing, just from the book.
This is not a hard class at all, and the Connect hw make you study regularly. He talks a lot about points not in the book but tests only on what is in the book. Overall, I say take him.
Like MOST college courses, most of the material being tested on is from the textbook. Those complaining thought they would get an exam that consisted of only what was discussed in the lectures. REALLY?! Stop blaming a professor for not studying. Take him if you actually like using your textbook.
Terrible! Don't take him. Sometimes it seemed he's confused in his own explanations. Can't teach
His lectures are boring, he talks in the same tone of voice and has no interest in getting the class involved. He is rude with the students who ask questions, he couldn't care less if u understand the material or not. U are all on ur own in studying the book, yet he takes attendance. Overall he shouldn't teach if he doesn't enjoy his job!!!
Good class and very fair grading!
this class is not an easy class, however having somebody like Eytan will simply make you screw it even more. He CAN NOT teach, he came one day saying he was in a bad mood, because the stock market is down! he has been doing this job for too long.. time to move on !! Take him if you want to have a horrible semester, he does not help at all.
I kid you not, after the first midterm he tells the class for the people who got under the average, they should drop the course and consider changing your major because Finance is not for you. Like really? who are you? besides a terrible professor, what gives you the right to say something like that..
WORST PROFESSOR EVER, MONOTONED AND HAS NO PASSION IN TEACHING THE SUBJECT. HE REPLACED THE PROFESSOR I ORIGINALLY CHOSE. SO SCREWED UP. AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!!
SERIOUSLY, This is the worst ever last I have taken in Baruch College. He has no idea what he was teaching and expected you to understand everything before taking the class. If you ask him a question he did not explained, he simply replied with "I am not going to explain that." He talks in really low and quiet voice and monotone. AVOID!!!
He does not have passion to teach and he is not helpful at all. He releases a lot of negative energy in class and it is hard to focus in his class because he's absolutely monotoned. Exams problems are simpler and shorter than the long HW problems, but they're still hard.
He's not serious about teaching at all. He's not even fully prepared for our midterms. First he was 10 minutes late. Second, there were two problems missing. Third, he said he would give us an hour to do it, but really he gave us 50 minutes. That's how much he cared for his students. Think twice before taking him.
I can honestly say he is the WORSE prof I have ever had! He teaches nothing and expect you to know everything! Unprepared, unorganized, rude, unwilling to answer questions, and has no passion for teaching. On top of it all, he releases a lot of negative and toxic energy in the class. If you take him you will loose your time, money, and energy.
He requires attendance and will reduce your grade if someone signs for you. He's a fair grader though and teaches pretty well.
Nice guy.
He is a stubbon prof. not very patient. He will blame loudly you for not listening to his class. No formula sheet for exams. regreded to have his class.
This guy is terrible. Investment analysis is such an important class for finance majors and this guy makes you leave his class with nothing new learned. will show you 100 ways to get to an answer using math and asks abstract questions and will sit and wait until someone answers. do yourself a HUGE favor and avoid the guy
Worst prof. ever encountered. No patience, will not explain things, teach into tangents thats not required to know, yet won't explain things you do need. Very disrespectful to students comments/participation. Waste of time and money with this guy, take someone else! Exams are book based while he teaches off ppt based. No open books no formula sheet
He is always right. He is not encouraging. He is afraid by his students. He Do Not have the enthusiasm to teach.
Overall does not care much for his students nor about the subject matter that he is teaching. Material covered in class is not explained in full depth and you will have to read every chapter covered on the exam on your own.
He is scary! Will scold at you if answer wrong in class. WORST professor at Baruch. No working experience. Only teaching for his whole life.
Take his class was a joke. Told you at the last two days of exam that what he taught in class was different from the book, but we were testing the knowledge from the book. Totally wasting time.
He requires attendance and will reduce your grade if someone signs for you. He's a fair grader though and teaches pretty well.
he is too mean
zero passion in finance. his class is a snooze fest. zero working experience. confusing. unclear. never answers questions LOL that isn't professional behavior! if you want a professional environment that motivates you and drives you to do better as well as doesn't destroy your GPA then take anyone else. he and his class are a nightmare.
This guy will go out of his way embarrass you if you participate in class. He expects students to already know what he is teaching and will get annoyed if no one does. He talks down to students. Very unclear and monotone. If you're taking this class you probably have no other choice so be prepared to teach yourself.
worst of the worst. failed me - i'm about to graduate
His class average grade is B which is dictated by the Department of finance. If you do what he asks you to do you will learn finance. If you don't, he can fail you even if you are about to graduate!
95% of my class had no idea what was going on during lectures and after humiliating anyone who asked a question, people just pretended to understand. The majority cheated during the midterm and final. I sought help from him mid-way through, making an appointment with him, but he had triple booked me and offered no help. Don't take a class with him.
If you think you will learn anything from his lectures you are wrong. People that asked questions felt humiliated and degradaded after he made fun of them.... I was studying on my own so I managed do to pretty well. Homework is tough, and usually covers two chapters. One cheat sheet allowed during the final exam.
You're on your own with this guy. 3 exams, uses McGraw Hill Connect only for homework and takes attendance for the entire semester. Make sure you bring a financial calculator to class. He kicks people out of exams even for using simple calculators. The beginning of the course is easy then he jumps into complex material assuming you've taken ECO4000
You learn more in his class but the tests are hard. However, he keeps the class average at B. .You cannot miss more than 4 classes without a strong reason or penalty. He does not accept job related excuses.
I am glad that Baruch has a professor like Hanan Eytan. Zero tolerance toward cheating and random stupid questions by students that shouldn't even be in his class in the first place. Taking his class is a MUST for everyone who is in school to LEARN. Valuation project and presentation are as important as the midterms and the final exam. Great man!
He had poor control over the class and was very ineffective at conveying the basic concepts to the course. If you don't understand a concept, he will repeat what is on the slide back at you in a very rude tone. Anything I learned in his class I learned by reading it myself outside of the classroom. He is not the hardest prof, but easily the worst.
DO NOT TAKE. GPA killer. by far the worst professor at baruch. VERY condescending, every rude. Doesnt teach the class. writes problems on the board and expects you to know it. If you do not know it, he will end class and leave. VERY STRICT grader. lots of homework. test is different from class. Strict attendance. MONOTONE. makes fun of students.
Would take him again. Took him in the summer and got a A-. Tests come from the test bank. Clearly teaches the material.
What he teaches in class does not correlate to what is on the exams. The exams are difficult but its based off the textbook. Received an A because I studied so hard.
Thick accent, lessons are not structured. Attendance not mandatory (summer is), tests are from a bank. Caveat: you won't learn anything from him. If you plan on going the cheating route be prepared to work harder at it than you would at studying. Doesn't know how to tell that the class is completely ignoring him as he blabbers and makes mistakes.
This professor is super intelligent and has a great understanding of the markets. He is very strict when it comes to his tests and if you don't follow instructions you will be failed. This may sound unfair but if you cant follow simple instructions you don't deserve to be in the class. He does not give millennials a pass for their laziness.
A very smart guy. Giving clear instructions for project. Lots of the questions from the test are similar to the homework. Don't require you to suit up for the presentation. Knows most everything about finance.
I took a summer class. 2 exams: midterm- 35% and final 50% plus ConnectPlus- 15%. The exams were hard, read the book. Because my classmates performed poorly on the exams, he multiplied by 6 points each question for midterm. I got A for both exams as a result. I would recommend this professor, even though he is a tough grader and wont comprise.
Terrible Professor. Does not teach the material and creates his own exam questions. The material is cumulative and he gives a lot of homework which are not similar to the exam questions. He has to curve but only because so many people fail and the department requires a B- average. I would not take him again. Avoid him if possible!
Generous curve. As long as you do better than everyone else, you can get an A easily.
I stayed in the course until the W date. My first impression of Prof Eytan was very poor, but I decided to give the benefit of the doubt. I can say that he truly is an unpleasant person to be around. He might have gone to MIT and mingled with the creator of Black-Scholes but with that attitude that means nothing. You can just learn from the book.
I have learned nothing from him. He is the worst professor and horrible person I have ever met. Delay your graduation if you don't have other sections. This professor will ruin your GPA and life. - His midterm 1 & 2 were NOT from Test banks and NOT from the lectures.
The worst professor ever, he is just a horrible person, very rude , talks to student very bad, doesn't care about the class. I gained 0 knowledge from his class and I would extremely recommend to avoid him.
Taking this class under Eytan was a waste of time. Would've actually liked a good instructor so I could've taken something away from a very important field in finance. As it is, i've gained nothing from this class and I doubt anyone else did either. Reading the text book solo would've been a better use of time.
He knows his stuff. He looks like he's always angry. You should be fine if you can do half of the questions on the two midterms and the final, don't be discouraged, you are only human. You will most likely be lost when he tells you about the group project. He will ask you not to come in if you are late for more than 15 mins in front of the class gl
He makes attendance mandatory just so he can push you to participate just to make fun of you. He told our class that we have zero knowledge and that he's worried about our future, curves nice though, don't depend on test bank for all exams. Take another professor though other students I've talked to had a much better experience.
This guy is a really awful professor. He's extremely boring and does not care about the students. Yea he's smart and knows the material but he is unable to effectively convey to the class. He is also very obnoxious and makes fun of you when you try to participate and get answers wrong, then he asks why no one participates..
If you are one of those kids progressing because you've been "lucky" at gtng lazy professors who dont teach anything but handouts A's then this is not your professor. He is a real professor and you get what you deserve. Read the chapter before class and ask sensible questions not just to be heard. He does not sugarcoat but if ur serious, u'll learn
Save your time, by far the worst professor at Baruch. He is very hard to understand and very rude as well.
Horrible. Avoid at all cost.
If you're not lazy you'll do great
You can definitely learn about investments in his class, just make sure you read the book before coming to his class. His tests are hard and some of the theory questions are very specific from the book; however he curves the grade a lot because most students get C on average in his tests. He knows his stuff but he's really mean to students.
Biggest mistake was taking this professor. 1. Rude attitude. Nobody participates in class because he makes you feel bad for answering incorrectly. So he likes to pick on random students. 2. Tests- Midterms and final are 85% of grade and they are no joke. Doesn't give study guide and is not specific about what the test is on. Good luck.
Whatever this professor teaches in class and whatever homework he gives is completely different form the tests. The tests ate two midterms and a final worth 85% with the final being 45%. Also he is very rude and uncaring. Tests are very hard.
PRACTICE the problems in the textbook! He goes off topic for most classes, so you're basically teaching yourself. He writes equations on the board and expects us to remember what each one means. He gives a 1 page cheat sheet for the final, but don't bank on that. I used 10% of that paper because he chooses the problems that we won't remember. Gd lk
Most professors try and tell you that there are no wrong answers to encourage you to participate, not in his class. He will belittle you every chance he gets. I got an 85 in both his midterms and was on track for a B until I took his final. Even with a cheat sheet, it was the hardest test I've taken. I failed the final and ended up with a D. AVOID!
Terrible. Period.
I had to drop the class. Professor seems like he's been teaching for too long that he is tired of doing it and shows he doesn't care anymore. His teaching methods is beyond poor and hence, you will need to read and self teach yourself. I normally don't post here but for this guy I had to. He's not good at all. Good luck!
Disrespectful. Inconsistent grading policies. Unorganized. Syllabus changes frequently and practically no direction given for group project. I had him my last semester at Baruch and he made me want to pull my hair out.
AVOID AT ALL COST, AVOID AVOID AVOID. If you read the rest of the comments and think "he can't be that bad" WELL you think wrong. Because I thought the same way and took this class. 3 exams, have nothing to do with his BS lecture, nothing to do with the homework. Everyone failed the second midterm and he made fun of us. Again. AVOID AVOID AVOID
There should be a 0 rating just for him. The class is absurdly difficult , but that's to be expected in a 4000 Finance course. That's not the problem. This man is unbelievably disrespectful, condescending, and rude. Not just for a professor, but for a human being. Each and every student who takes him should report him to the dean and department.
Absolutely the worst professor ever!!! Disorganized and cannot teach!
HORRIBLE professor. He treats the students with zero respect and mocks you for stupid questions or answers. His teaching style is extremely confusing and you will need to study the textbook to get an understanding of the concepts. Bad guy who wants his students to fail. The entire class failed the second exam so the final was 55% of our grade.
I wish they invented negative scores since taking this professor. Given that this is a challenging class, he made it as unpleasant as possible. Try's getting you to participate so he can make fun of you. He is unorganized and lazy. AVOID! He makes his tests impossible and justifies it with a curve. The highest score on the final was a 31/40. AVOID!
If you study hard, as you are supposed to, you will do great. Do the homework, participate in class, and pay attention. Do not be mislead by lazy students.
Very good and very demanding prof.
This class is difficult but he makes it more difficult. He does not know how to teach and he's surprised when everyone does horrible on his exams. He makes fun of people when they ask questions. Overall terrible experience, wish I could say more so you could avoid him at all cost! Hope he reads this so he knows that I hated every min of his class.
just don't
Love every second of every minute of this class. Fantastic!!!
The ABSOLUTE WORST professor taken in my 7 semesters of undergrad.
atrocious. doesn't give you a formula sheet for exams and expects you to memorize every formula. thick accent and doesn't explain anything.
worst professor I've ever taken! very rude and disrespectful
The worst professor I have ever had in my life, and I am not exaggerating. Really disrespectful towards his students and do not even bother asking him questions after a test, because he will not answer them and if you complain about that he will deduct points for it. If you are willing to take his class, be ready to learn the stuff on your own.
Fin3710 was hard indeed but Professor Eytan was a nice guy, if you really study hard, you would get what you deserved.
This is the second or third time I take professor Eytan at Baruch College. He's an excellent instructor. He is challenging, as he should be. If you want to pass the class only because you think college is just a "phase," don't even bother. If you want to learn, then take him! I find quite funny how these kids complain.
This was one of the worst professors I have had in Baruch so far. I took his class despite all the bad reviews because I didn't have a choice but I wish wouldn't. completely lost my money, he is very boring, reads from the books slides, and you can barely stay up during his lessons. HAS THE WORST ARROGANT ATTITUDE, THE WORST NEVER AGAIN
How is this person a Professor?? If you hate your job simply quit! This is a shame that Baruch has this guy teaching Finance. He does not teach rather he rambles. He makes many mistakes when explaining something which makes it even more confusing!! DO NOT TAKE YOU WILL REGRET
He's complaining like its the students fault the courses are online. If the student don't want to turn on their cameras so what just do your job and get it over with. He asks questions and expects us to give him the answer that's in his head, students try to answer questions best to their abilities and how well they understand.
DON'T TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. I'm curious as to why a prestigious college like Baruch have individuals like this teaching finance, I'm aware that this field is no joke but this guy makes everything 10 times harder than it already is. Schedules a presentation on the day of final, reschedule to a day that that is convenient for himself. AVOIDDD HIM
This professor is the worst teacher to have for an online course. His handwriting on screen is completely illegible. He does not answer questions respectfully (you should've known the answer dummy!) and he argues with students over trivial matters. He also gave our entire class failing grades on our presentations. Avoid this professor at all costs.
PLEASE don't take him you will regret it. he's the worst and most disresepectful prof at this school. Doesn't curve at all, grades harshly and no one attends lectures because they have nothing to do with the tests at all. Complete waste of time.
worst professor in the world..... he sucks. terrible person.
Do yourself a favor and take another professor or you will end up hating the class. Lectures are very boring and he is very bad at explaining things. In fact, all he does is write formulae on zoom that no student understands which results in no one participating. Exams are also bad/challenging and time-constrained resulting in lower averages.
All he does is explain formulas that are very hard to understand. He jumps right into the lecture without doing a lot of examples for the topics. The exam and the group project are VERY HARD and he does not explain how to do that. You have to figure it out yourself. Definitely NOT RECOMMENDED!
Do YOURSELF and your GPA a favor. He really should not be teaching. His exams are full of mistakes. He doesn't have the decency to actually go through them before giving them to the students. Gives you multiple choices but the answer to the question isn't even part of the choices. And it happened both during the final and the midterm.
Sigh. This guy... I mean he's super knowledgeable and clearly intelligent. But he just doesn't explain stuff. And when we ask questions he doesn't give straight answers. Like he'll just walk into class and start writing formulas on the board and solving them algebraically, without explaining what formula this is, what the variables mean etc.
Just finished with Prof Eytan this semester. Seems really tough at first, but it's an easy A if you put in the time and effort. Before taking his class, you should know that participation isn't required for your grade, but you will see a massive bump if you choose to constantly participate.
One word rude. Just rude. Thats all I can say. Just don't even waste your time.
this is the worst professor i have ever met, the class average for the final exam was 14% and am sure most people failed this course or got a D. The midterm was horrible, not change to pass this class with a curve but he didnt consider that. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS AND IF YOU DID, YOU SHOULD DROP AS SOON AS YOU CAN
I took this course online so the exams were online. Attendance was not mandatory. Overall awful at teaching don't even waste your time going to class if its not required for attendance. I didn't do awful on the exams but I think he made the questions easier because the exam was online. Overall awful prof but if u take online its manageable.
very unprofessional and uneducated.
Horrible professor. Save yourself the trouble
He shouldn't even be working. Terrible grader, the class average was under 50, unresponsive outside of class, asks us to email him and he never responds. I'd strongly suggest to take another prof, this guy doesnt care at all.
My letter grade is 107 out of100 after curved. I am here to post tips that helped me got an A in his class. First, read the textbook!! second, do the homework over and over. third, he gives practice exam one week before test. that is what help you the most. just do the practice exam at least 3 times to make sure you know everything.
This class requires a lot of self-studying outside of class and the hw and practice materials are the only thing that can help you do well. Don't take it
I am shocked but not surprised Baruch let this man educate.
One word. THIS GUY IS NOT HIM.
Pros: Curves huge (Don't expect the curve to save you) Cons: Everything
This class is a real challenge, but with dedication and the right study tools like Unstuck study AI, you can do well. The textbook is essential, and practicing the practice exams is key. Not a class to take lightly.
He make the claim that market risk premium rise, stock price will rise, which is the complete opposite of what stock pattern and you argue with him he will say you aren't wrong, How he even a professor if he doesn't even know basic investment concepts
Never take his class .I took his class just because of the time is perfect . HE IS SO UNPROFESSIONAL .HE DO NOT CARE ABOUT HIS STUDENT AT ALL
actually awful professor, he speaks so quietly you have no chance of hearing him. he gets his own practice problems wrong in class. dont bother trying to reach him its a waste of your time. dont take him for any classes no matter what
Just wow...this man is the worse professor I've ever met in my life. He is extremely careless of his students, speaks very low during lectures to where even the ones in front seats can't hear him. SO RUDE and gets irritated with student's questions. Barely curves even with the class final median being a 17.5%.PLEASE SAVE YOURSELF AND RUN. NO JOKE!!
This professor is rude when asked questions. The lectures have nothing to do with exams. And the practice tests he gives out only cover a small portion of what is on the exam. Sadly, I have to retake these courses, and since registration has been open for a while, he is the only professor left. Good luck to anyone who takes him, myself included.
The reviews speaks for itself.
One of the best professors. Clearly incredibly intelligent and very accomplished; straight to the point. Most of higher education is about self-learning and refining what you have learned in lecture. Those who gave terrible ratings really just need to grow up. Take Professor Eytan if you are looking to learn and ace as a professional.
Have fun learning this class on your own if you take him
His lectures are not very helpful to prepare for the exams. The only ways to prepare for the exams are the practice problems that he provided. There are three exams, and 9 homework assignments. Most people did not do so well on the exams. He curve exam grade. He adds an extra 5 points toward your final grade since the class average is too weak.
Worse professor ever! If you are currently struggling to get your degree please avoid him. There is a lot of self studying. Lectures are useless. He speaks so low. Do not take him!!!
I chose hilarious as the tag not based on Teddys Humor, but the humor I found around Teddy. Teddy is truly a travesty when it comes to respect. He does not care for you or your future, but for his biweekly paycheck. You can often find Teddy eating falafel or sleeping by the student hall. I recommend you to not walk away but RUN AND NEVER LOOK BACK!
Mumbled through lessons like a broken tape deck. His stale rants, stuck in 1969, bored us to oblivion. Mispronouncing basics, losing notes, he is droned on autopilot—clueless, charmless, and utterly out of touch. A classroom snooze, he was the king of wasted time.
If you are on the spectrum of any kinda don't take this class. I'd rather take a gap semester then take his class again. He talks not to teach, have to buy McGraw-Hill and then barely even teaches it, jumps through the slides and drones on. He should not be teaching at all his time has passed, he is not understanding at all.
All the positive reviews were posted by the Professor himself to distract you from the real students negative reviews. If i am coming here to write this comment, you know he was THAT BAD.
He's a princess and a diva. He likes to belittle students to boost his already low self esteem and misguided ego. I'm not sure who raised this cat but I'm sorry you had this as a product of your procreation.
All the positive reviews were posted by the Hanan himself. I am a graduate and he was by far the worst I have ever met.
He assigned a new assignment two days into the Spring recess, and the due date is before the school opens. This pretty much sums him up.
Do not take his class
Beyond rude!!!!!
From day one, it was clear this professor doesn't want to be there and doesn't care if you succeed. He doesn't explain anything well, gets annoyed when people ask for clarification, and creates a cold, uncomfortable atmosphere every single class. He doesn't make an effort to connect or support.
This man should not be in a classroom. He's hostile, lacks patience, and constantly makes students feel small for needing help or clarification. He shuts you down completely. He doesn't teach, he controls. And if you challenge anything, even politely, he gets defensive and aggressive. The energy in this class is toxic.
Nothing about this professor says “educator.” He shows no care for student success, refuses to be flexible, and never gives clear guidance. You walk in feeling tense and leave more confused than when you started. His attitude is consistently rude, and he speaks to students like they're beneath him. Take literally anyone else.
This man is completely checked out. He doesn't care about the subject, doesn't care about the students, and makes no effort to hide it. He goes through the motions just enough to get paid, and that's it. No feedback, no support, no engagement , just cold lectures and a bad attitude. You're just wasting your time while he collects a salary.
The amount of unnecessary stress this professor causes is unreal. Nothing is ever good enough, and he makes sure you know it. He talks down to students, creates pressure over petty things like exact arrival time, and offers no support when you actually need it. You leave feeling worse than when you came in. Avoid if you value your peace.
He clearly couldn't care less if you pass or fail. No effort to explain things clearly, no chance to recover if you fall behind, and absolutely no room for conversation. You're expected to follow every rule to the letter, but he doesn't hold himself to the same standard. It's just cold, careless, and completely unhelpful.
Even if you're an atheist, you'll find yourself praying to make it through the semester. That's how miserable it is. The professor is cold, aggressive, and completely disconnected from his students. He doesn't care if you understand, and he doesn't care if you're struggling. If you're late? You're shut out and humiliated.
This professor has absolutely no empathy. He treats students like they're a nuisance rather than people trying to learn. He makes no effort to connect with students or offer guidance, and the overall atmosphere is cold and unwelcoming. His lack of basic human decency and respect makes it impossible to feel comfortable in this class.
There's no empathy in this class. If you need clarification or are struggling to understand, the professor's response is always dismissive. He's emotionally detached and unkind when students ask for assistance. It's clear that his priority is to get through the material quickly, not to actually support students in their learning. TAKE SOMEONE ELSE!
This guy is not a teacher, he's a dictator. He doesn't even try to make the material interesting or offer any support. If you're late or need help, he'll treat you like you're the problem. No compassion, no understanding. Just a bunch of rules and attitude. Don't bother taking this class unless you want to leave feeling frustrated and annoyed.
This professor does the bare minimum and doesn't even try to make the class tolerable. He gives off the vibe that he's doing us a favor by even showing up. If you ask for help, good luck, because he's not giving any. He has no empathy or respect for his students. Just avoid this class if you want to stay sane and actually learn something.
Who raised this guy? Seriously, he has the emotional intelligence of a rock. He acts like students are his personal inconvenience and has zero empathy. It's like he forgot what it's like to be a student or a human being, for that matter. If you're looking for a professor who can actually interact with people like a decent human, this isn't it.
This professor's ego is massive. He acts like he's the smartest person in the room and can't even entertain the idea that anyone else might have valuable input. He talks down to everyone and refuses to acknowledge any mistakes he might make. It's like he's on some power trip and it's so unprofessional. Make you feel small and unheard. THE WORST!!!!
This wasn't just a bad class — it was an exhausting experience. The professor came off as cold, condescending, and unnecessarily rude. I've never felt so disrespected by someone in a teaching position. It's one thing to be strict or challenging, but it's another to lack basic human decency.
Listen to the rest of the reviews and don't take him if you can. You're basically going to teach yourself through the class. 2 midterms, 1 final, and connect homework. Gives out sample tests for the midterms but does NOT give one out for the CUMULATIVE final because "You have enough practice questions from homework and textbooks." Yeah, good luck.
I did not like this professor at all. I think he had a bad personality. A terrible teaching style. A wild attitude. An unhelpful nature, and an annoying face. If you're planning on taking him, don't. He is truly the worst professor I've ever had. Ive never rated a professor before but he is really just that bad. Good luck to anyone who takes him.
Worst Prof. I ever took in my school history. Doesn't care to explain material. Makes you feel if you don't understand something, it's your problem. I failed his class & just retook it with another prof. He gives cheat sheet but you don't know where his exams coming from. Revolves around 2 midterms & 1 final. Take him if u self learner.
One of the worst professors there is. Avoid him at all costs.
Avoid him. He dislikes teaching so much and you can tell he's only in it for the money. If you come in a few minutes late he won't even let you sign in.
Save yourself from this horrible prof. first, he doesn't explain clearly and then he ask questions and expecting us to respond. Please take Bruce Iwadate guy, he's also hard, but at least he explains well. This guy will kill your GPA. If you take him, get ready to learn all the material on your Own.
He literally mumbles to himself the whole class and reads directly off the slides. save yourself the headache, his degrees are from almost 60 years ago in a foreign country.
Please avoid this professor at all cost!! Super dry and boring lectures, he mumbles and reads off slides for the whole duration of the class. he asks questions and sits there expecting an answer even though he barely teaches anything. Grade is based on hw, and 3 exams and attendance mandatory you can't be late or else he wont count you. no make ups
barely teaches. graded on few things , attendance mandatory no exceptions will deduct from grade. no practice exams. prepare yourself to teach yourself
i didn't learn anything from him, i had to learn myself by doing the homeworks and reading the textbook on connect. was graded on homework and 3 exams. had to show up to class everyday even though i didn't learn
