Dr. Awadallah is a great teacher and I enjoyed his Chem I class. The problem is the number of Freshman who expect to have their hand held and do little to no study/work. In HS these students could slow and dumb down a class - not with Dr Awadallah.

all you need to study his notes only to pass his class but he is very angery and insult you any movement. do not be late in his class/lab, otherwise he will insult you in front of everybody.

Very bad professor, does not teach anything...spends the whole period going over 1,2 problems you had for homework. Because of this he is extrememly boring and its very hard to follow his lectures. Consistenly puts things on the test that were never gone

By far the least helpful teacher around. Made us buy the book only to use it three times. Teaches whatever he feels like talking about. Few questions on test and if you don't know the material by heart, grades will suffer. Avoid at all costs!
He is horrendous! Bad notes! Yelled at people in and outside of our class! Somewhat entertaining because of it though. Stay away! He's retiring soon, but not soon enough!
One of the best chem teachers I've had. All exams are straight from the notes, if you pay attention you will receive an A... undoubtedly a kind-hearted man.
His test are extremely hard. AND no they are not from the notes. His grading system is so wierd. He takes atleast 3 WEEKS to grade a test. Avoid him at all cost, unless you want to end up with an unfair grade.

He's a little rough around the edges. He gets aggravated easily with his students. But if you can understand his bad accent and take good notes you'll be straight.

He is prejudiced and is not helpful at all. His male muslim students will receive a higher grade even if the work is the same. He should be terminated from teaching. He was even on television a few years ago stating that he did not like the Israeli people.

You have to show up to class every day and take good notes. After taking those good notes you have, you to study them in depth for his test. They are some what hard. Make sure you ask him for him to do examples after explaining something in class to better understand what he is talking about.

He is an OK teacher.His test are not as hard as everyone says, if you go to class actually listen to his lectures, and do his HW problems, you will pass.He is not helpful outside of the class though. He is ****, I got high A's in all his test, and still got an A-. Make your conclusions...
Help us God. Help us Chem department. We are failing in this class. Why is no one reading all this stuff about this guy and taking some action.People who got 30 and 40 something in tests got an A, while some people got 12 points taken off for an 8 point question. Somebody,anyone, HELP!!!
If you pay attention in class,and do your work you will do fine. He is not an easy teacher, but is very helpful. This is not an easy class but very challenging and a heavy workload. It can be done.

He's not as bad as everyone makes him seem. He can be unclear at times, but if u go to his office hours, he'll help u. His exams were straight forward if u paid attention and studied (at least for the first two)
he skips around in the textbook, his exam questions are way out there, and he's not very helpful. tell me why i failed his class in the fall, but got an A in the summer when i took it with Humphrey? Awadallah has sense of humor, but being funny doesn't make you a good teacher.

For having this class for 4 days a week 3 hrs a day, I wanted to shoot myself!!! He didn't explain anything clearly, would move to the next topic without any of the students actually understanding anything that he explained about the previous topic. At least his tests had what we went over in class, notice how it's "went over" instead of learned because and I don't think I only speak for myself when I say that I don't think we learned a damn thing in that class!!!

People exaggerate about him; I think he's a great professor; he really encourages his students. I guess I found him great because I had Kasner for Gen. Chem I. Honestly hes not that helpful but definatly a good guy if you get to know him. If you need help go to his office, if hes there. Chemistry is not an easy subject so people need to stop complaining. Study and youll do good.
Nice person but teaches very fast. He gives only 3 very hard exams. He barely uses the text book. So don't even bother puchasing it. He taught better in lab. If you've never taken chemistry before or it isn't your best subject I HIGHLY do not recommend taking this course with him. If you do, be prepared to go to TUTORING religiously.
He was a terrible professor. I loved chem in HS which I did really well in. I tokk chem 101 with kasner and passed it with a B+, however, I failed this class. I truly believe he has something against girls. If you hate urself and ur GPA, take this course.

You can survive Chem 1 because it really isn't that hard. Chem 2 though is a different story! He barely opened the book and summarized through sections. His test were extremely difficult. Take Kasner or Whitener if you can. Kasner is just as hard with the test but he is a better teacher. Good luck! Chem sucks

Excellent chemistry professor. The class is not good for students who will not do the work, but with the smallest bit of effort, I felt that I learned a lot. Also, I got two A's.

Took him for two semesters and enjoyed both.Barely got a C the first and wf from the second but still knew more chemistry than my friends who had other proffessors.Dr.Awadallah has no problem helping students that pay attention and work hard.Wouldn't recommend him if chemistry is either not easy or not your priority.Requires time.TAKE HIM.

I got an A-. He does teach unlike other so called easy teachers that make u go home and teach yourself. Look over your notes and do some problems in the book if you can't do them then ask him to do the problem for you, he will. The only think that sucked was that he took forever grading test.

I have always hated chemistry all my life because i never understood it. I tried getting into whitener's class but i couldnt so i ended up in awadallah's class. All my grades were over 90's with him. He is crystal clear in his lectures. I am taking him again i recomend the same for anyone. Just take notes and study. Great professor all in all.
He's hilarious. Uhh, you better study your butt off. He skips around the book a lot so take crystal clear notes. Not too bad if you put a TON of effort into the class. He looks like a big cuddly teddy bear, but he has a very short temper!!! If you can't understand his accent you should prob leave your house more.

Yea Gen.CHem. II is hard. Hard as ever. Was he clear in teaching it? yea, i guess. He curves so that helps. I ended up with a B, not many people did it was just really hard. And the ACS exam was kinda tough but not more than awadallahs tests. Do you get a good grade if you study enough and keep a cool head? Yea maybe. Go for it.
This was the worst professor I have taken at MSU. He is very hard to understand, and hardly writes on the board. He idea of "jokes" was making fun of certain kids in the class.. one was so offended that she left. He is supposed to be professional, making fun of students who obviously cannot say anything back to him isn't very professional.
That was one of the worst professors that I had on campus. During each lecture, he sometimes talked about "God." Why would he think about god while teaching the class? I don't know. The lectures were tough. I barely failed this class. For those of you taking this class, be prepared for a total nightmare.

Attendance isn't mandatory, but you won't do well on exams if you don't go to class. It's true that he might lose patience.. but don't be offended by him, just make it into a joke and he'll think you're hilarious. He doesn't really assign homework but I highly recommend you do the problems in the book yourself for practice. Tests are from lectures.

I had him for general chem 1. . . I received an A. . . only because I know chemistry. . . but my credits did not transfer from another school. . . but, if u are trying to learn it from him, u can forget about it. . . the only way I would recommend him, is if u already know the material
Absolutely horrible and i must say, avoid at all costs. He gives you back your exams graded for you a month or so after you took them so I did not even know what I had for the last two exams so i was rolling the dice on whether i was passing or not. Its almost impossible to see him for help outside of class because hes never in his office.

Well, the guy is funny. But you won't really know how you're doing in his class until final grades are up. I thought I would get a B, and ended up with a C, much to my surprise. He does try to be nice and fair, but it doesn't really work. Overall, study hard and prepare for the ACS exam months ahead if you want to do well in Gen Chem II.
He is a joke. The only thing that might save me from failing this class is that his grading system is different from the school's grading system. A 50 average is considered passing. However, even though that should be easily maintainable I still don't feel that good. I guess it's easy for me to say this because I have a lerning disability.

Had to withdraw midway through his class last Spring and wound up taking summer. Chem2. Dont know how good you have it. He's demanding - dont take Lab with him - sarcastic, and impatient. But he knows his stuff & explains it well. Exams are straight. HW not collected it but do it, showup, Do HW, dont' whine, DO HW. Get solutions manual & ACS guide.

He claims he's changed because he is in the twilight of his career. He tries to be better, but sometimes ends up falling back on his old ways. One week, he's helpful and grades the lab reports leniently. The week after, he is cranky, screams and fails half the class on the first exam. He is still the lesser of 2 evils though; Chang is worse

He is a great guy, kind hearted, and funny. I wish he would get a bit deeper in the concepts, but all in all he's a good professor. I have him for chem 1 and I'm taking him again for chem 2. Just do the work, keep up with the material, and ask questions, dont waste time distracting the class, He'll answer all your questions during his office hour!

The labs are super confusing, very unclear.

You will learn Chemistry but not from him. Basically I had to teach myself and get help from tutors. In a way I pushed myself to limits I thought I couldn't go. It helped me develop new study habits but in the end, I would get another teacher if I was you. If you want to take him you have to study A LOT. Your world will revolve around Chemistry.
Hhhmmm lets just say I was the A+ student who never took rate my proffessor seriously cuz i thoought as long as I work hard ill do fine. Think Again.. the warnings here are real if your taking more than 2 classes dont take him.. youll have to teach yourself chemistry and his exams are retarted and dont reflect the important aspects of chem.
Alright, personally he is not a bad teacher if you already know the material and need a refresher. Other than that, you're gonna struggle. His definitions of terms is exactly what he wants you to use on the test, not the book. He doesn't help when you ask questions. He makes fun of you if you ask or do something stupid. I am going to miss him !!
Smart, experienced professor but very rude, inpatient, and gets angry when students' questions dont make sense to him. He expects you to memorize his definitions and takes many points off if an answer on a test doesnt match his definition. He's not helpful in lab. If you take him, memorize his notes and use the book as well. And good luck to you
Let's just say that this class might really effect my GPA. If you know the material already, you'll be fine. If not, you're going to need to kick butt and devote a lot of time to this class. I would try to avoid him if possible, he's really not the easiest professor out there.
Prof. Awadallah is fun, he's laid back and easy going, i took chem 1 with him and got a 74 on my first test, little did I realize for his tests i had to think very narrow. Memorize HIS notes, his definitions and his calculations. he's funny and if you have a question ask it. Don't be afraid! he curves!! and drops the first test if you do better!!
This guy is not the devs. He is a big basket of chemistry. The charlatans bad mouthing him on here don't know how to study for a rigorous science exam. His exams are composed of usually 5 questions. If you didn't study a concept he went over in class..you could be getting yonned the hardest. Understand the material and you will snag num grades.
This teacher is an extremely cold hearted man. Although he makes jokes, they are funny but in the end he is laughing at you because of your grades. He makes comments on people's grades, and i feel bad for those kids. Hard to get an A or even a B so goodluck to all. do your hw and maybe it will help. Sometimes he takes it sometimes he doesnt. study!
He just really cares about chemistry, probably more than his students. About his accent, we do live in America, and there are so many accents, you need to learn to do with them b/c they wont be going away -_- I'm taking his summer course and he's been pretty great. Never a dull moment in my opinion.
It's a tough class if didn't have a great teacher for Chem I, and if you don't know your chem. If you work hard and devote a lot of effort and time into this class, you'll be fine. Awadallah isn't the most helpful, but he definitely isn't cold-hearted and he does want you to do well!
People say that awadallah is terrible, but hes definitely changed his teaching style. Compared to all the chem professors at msu, hes definitely up there. He makes chem seem interesting and has a great sense of humor and he definitely cares about everyones grades. If you had a choice of which professor to take for chem 1 TAKE HIM!
Dr. Awadallah is a very nice professor. He is better than Dr. Talaga. I got a 97.5 while with Talaga I got a 36. He is very helpful and cares about his students. His exam was based on the quiz and problems we did in class. He even spent the lab class time to go over the quiz so we will be ready for the exam.
Either the people who say Awadallah is bad either never had Talaga or he changed, or they just didnt study. I think he's a pretty good chem teacher. Chem isn't easy as it is but he really wants everyone to do well n understand. He has a great personality, funny, and his accent isn't that bad at all. He's very fair and I would deff take him again.

Dr. Awadallah is a the best, if you fail his class your just a dumb slacker, I hate chem, but had no problem in his class. I had him in 2006 and it was so much fun. May he rest in peace MSU lost a great educator.
Rip Prof. Awadallah. He was a great professor who also had a sense of humor... He worked hard on his lectures...
