I took his class during the summer and it was a 5-week course. He knows what he's talking about however i have a part time job and i found it very hard. You MUST STUDY EVERYTHING IN YOUR NOTES. He is perfect teacher for someone who is going into pre-med or really good at Bio. I only need to take Biology as a requirement for my Associate's degree.
This class is difficult. The only answer he has to any of his student's question is "STUDY, STUDY AND STUDY". He wants you to divorce the outside world and just concentrate on him for one semester. I had a A before final, but the final was so cruel that I got a B+. Do not expect leniency.
He is really hard teacher. You have to be really clever if you want take his class. He has he own teaching style. if you never take bio before pls don't take his class because you won't understand what he taking about. he is really hard in his grading too.
My opinion about Mr. Q. Excellent teacher. Always helps students out whether you have an F or an A in the class. Very Smart man. He has a big ego :). very hard teacher. Hard grader. over all, the best teacher I've ever had. Not that organized but he gets things done. You cannot afford to miss a lecture. Study well and you'll b good.
Q is willing to help if you seek him. His exams are difficult! Lots of studying is required to do well. Sometimes he jumps around in the lecture so take excellent notes and review them daily!
I'm torn. On one hand, he's the best teacher I've ever had. He's super helpful and extremely smart, but on the other hand, this is hands down the hardest class I've ever taken in my life. You study, study, study and still fail. The tests are all application, most of the time, trick application questions. Bio has become my life. I love him though!
Class is hard, but he's my favorite teacher of all time! I've learned more in this one class, maybe even in one MONTH of this class than I have in all my other classes this semester combined! Get to know him, he's tough, but FAR from mean...I dare you to give him a try and stick with him to the end!
The best teacher ECC has to offer, he knows everything there is to know about bio and he is very approachable. He will help you even if he's got other things to do.He will push you to the limit and make you study, but this is college and he treats it how it should be treated. He is not an easy A or B but you will learn the basics of bio. Very cool&BA
Gives help even if you don't need it, doesn't care if your failing or passing will treat you the same. He will make you work and is a true college class. Very cool guy to talk to after classes. Will go over everything there is to know about upcoming test and quizes so you are never unprepared. He is very straight forward on test, he's not an easy A
Extremely hard. he is nice but expect too much. If your comprehension is not excellent do not take him. You need to understand every little detail.
He is an extremely hard grader, I am majoring in Biology and was not able to pass his class mainly because I did not know how to study effectively. If you want to take this class you must know how to study daily and effectively. He is very intelligent and easy to talk to, but be prepared for a lot of work and very hard grading!
Q is awesome. I was in his 6am class and he definitely pushes you to do your best but he helps you any way he can. This is a tough class but you feel good when you know what you are doing. Best teacher I've had so far. If he taught other classes I would take them! Make flash cards or rewrite your notes or you will fail.
Worst teacher I have ever had
Expects a lot but doesn't judge. He offered to help me when I wasn't understanding material and was fun to have as a teacher. I wouldn't take Bio with anyone else! He has a specific style of teaching that cannot be duplicated
He is the best teacher ever .. his test are hard but if you study you will be fine .. you also need to have the IQ otherwise the registration office is waiting you to drop !
Although he is a tough teacher, Mr Q gives students the tools to pass. He is extremely fair in his test and quizzes. Don't expect to pass without studying. Mr Q will become your friend outside the classroom, even after you finish his class. Will give you great career advice if you seek it. By far the best teacher I've ever had.
Q is one of the greatest teachers that there is at ECC. He is extremely tough so you better study...A LOT. I did great in his class. You have to pay attention to everything he says and write the types of examples used in class. You will see them elsewhere! He also pushes you to your max. Be prepared for late night studying and HARD WORK.it pays off
He is the toughest teacher I've ever had in my life! I felt like I was studying for my Bachelor's degree. If you want to do well in his class you better study daily and try to memorize everything. I'm a B student and I found his class to be nearly impossible.
I took BIO 110 with P. Q. a couple semesters ago. I'm an A student; I got a C in his class by the skin of my teeth. I'll tell you what though, in pursuing my nursing degree there have been many a times where I recalled lectures, material, and study habits that are etched in my brain for life from P. Q.'s class. If you can stick it out he's the best
If there was any class that prepared me for my undergrad at a 4 year insitution it was definately him. No, he isn't easy. But if you actually want to learn he is the most knowledgeable teacher. And the best part is he wants you to succeed. He will make his office hours when YOU need him. Truly a great guy. Favorite professor at ECC by far.
Q has a great personality but is the most difficult teacher at ECC. He is very knowledgeable but his class is far too difficult for an intro bio course. You need to STUDY a lot in order to pass, he told us 15 hours a week! He goes into great detail abut everything so if you don't have the time take a different teacher and youll earn a higher grade
Tended to jump around during lectures so it was hard to follow and I definitely had to study hard for everything. Was very approachable and always made the classroom a "fun" atmosphere.
This class is very difficult but if you are looking to get the most out of a biology class, Q is the one to take. He definitely makes you work for your grade and study a lot. He does not use power points, which I was very happy about! Do not take his class if you do not have the time or want to put in effort.
He is super hard but also very helpful. You will remember what you learned forever. He goes only by his notes and they are amazing! When he says he may make you cry he is not lying. If you are going into science take him!.
I don't know where other people see it, but this professor was extremely difficult to follow. Hi lectures are disorganized, he jumps around too much.
The class is EXTREMLY EXTREMELY difficult. If you are a full time student, do not take his class. You will not have the time he requires to study, 15 hours a week. Way too much for a 100 level course. I dropped after giving it a chance (12 weeks)I was only taking it to fill my science requirement.
His lectures are exactly what there is to know for quizzes and exams. But don't just study the notes, you really need to study the book too, he expects to know your material. But he'll help you henever possible, so I highly reccommend him. The course requires a lot of effort and you really can't blame anyone but yourself if you failed.
He is the worst teacher I have ever had. His notes are unorganized. He gives no homework, so your grade is only on test, quiz and labs. His test and quizzes are not on his note most of the time. Just look for any other teacher.
A VERY hard class. He jumps around during lecture and rarely sticks to his time line. You dont use the text book in class but are expected to read it on your own. Some things he tries to explain can be extremely confusing even when you ask him to clarify. Wont help you after class if you dont know the material.
If you honestly want to get far in Science, or into Pre-med...Take this guy. Everyone may think he is extremely difficult but he is the most intelligent teacher I've ever met. You learn so much from him and you literally have to pay attention to every detail. Grades are based on Quizzes & Tests, but hes very Lenient. But you have to be very serious
He was...amazing as a teacher. Pushed me further than I knew I could be pushed. He helped me when I needed it and then some. Maybe had a few personality quirks (maybe it was just me...), but worth the weirdness to learn from the best. He was my mentor not only biology, but in life. No matter how hard I try, I'll never forget him. :)
All around good guy. Very intelligent, very helpful. He his own way of teaching BIO 110. Lectures are straight from his head and you will never see power point. At the end of the day this class is way too hard for an entry level BIO. If you're up for a challenge take him but you're going to have to try way harder for that A.
I think he's a nice guy. But he has very high expectations. You really have to read and understand the material before coming to class or you won't understand anything at all. Everything gets really confusing because he tries to go really fast.I dropped his class cause I wasn't understanding anything.
This is supposed to be an intro level class. Professor Q sets his expectations impossibly high. At midterms, only 2 people were passing the class. I dropped after 10 weeks. He is willing to help people who are attentive in class, otherwise forget it. His lectures are very unorganized and hard to follow. the book was never used and was of no help.
He says he is willing to help but he's not much help. His lectures are confusing and all from his head. There is no organization. He jumps around a lot which makes it very difficult to follow. His expectations are way too high for an intro level class. If you have the time to study 15 hours a week for this class then go for it. If not, get out.
A perfect academic environment would be one where all professors were like Q. He is brilliant and challenging. His method of teaching aims to bring out the best student in you. If you are a dedicated, hard working, and just overall smart person that doesn't expect to be handed an A just for showing up this is your guy.
Absolute best professor at ECC. He is what a real professor should be; he makes you work hard to get your A. Class is not difficult if you just pay attention and take notes, his tests are based solely off of notes. Ask questions and he will gladly answer them. If you expect to get through college by doing the bare minimum, his class is not for you.
He's a very challenging instructor; definitely expects a lot out of you from the first day of class. However, he is overly fair with grading (tons of EC) and always willing to help you out during office hours. Just don't get psyched out the first week, be willing to put in a lot of time, and you'll be fine
He's a nice guy but this is such a tough course. Always ask for help if you need it. Plan to spend AT LEAST an hour every day studying for this or you definitely will not pass. I was a straight A student before this class.
Q is honestly the best teacher I've ever had. I didn't do the best in his class and I was a straight A student before him, but he opened and stretched my mind to not only know the material, but to really comprehend and apply it outside of the box. Q is very helpful and will bend his schedule to meet with you if you really need it.
DO NOT TAKE Q! The first week of class we had 21 students; the second week we had 10. His lectures are not planned and lack organization, the way he explains things is confusing, and if you ask a question he will tell you what he already you, except in a louder voice. Forget having a break during class as well.
He is great at teaching. his lectures are long, but good. Notes are very important. He is a really smart guy ,so you need to ask questions because he will explain things in a way he will understand, not the way a student might. His tests are hard his quizzes are harder. He doesn't clearly state everything that will be on the test. study!
Best teacher I've ever had. He is extremely smart and can answer any question you ask him. He gives a lot of extra credit opportunities and in my opinion he is a very fair teacher. If you want to be successful in his class you NEED to know your notes inside out. It is also helpful to re write your notes because.
Q is the best! When he lectures it is hard not to pay attention because of the way he explains the material, you can tell he is a really smart guy and passionate about biology. You definitely have to study hard to get a good grade in his class, but you can tell he wants his students to succeed. Has a great sense of humor.
The most caring professor I have ever met; the guy expects you to bust your ass inafter class, but he will reward you for doing so. He gives everyone the benefit of the doubt and just wants his students to succeed. By far the best teacher I have ever had, I have learned more in his class then every other class combined to this point.
Class was super hard. If you miss a day its like missing a week in any other class. Q is nice outside of class but difficult as an instructor. Many students dropped the class before the drop point.
Definitely a rigorous class. Students need to stay on top of the work, reading material, and notes. Attendance is crucial.
His way of teaching is practical. His tests are long, and challenging. He changes the wording of some phrases, to make you think complex. He will make you work hard for your grade. The book is helpful, but YOU DONT REALLY NEED IT. Def DONT BUY LAB BOOK! Must re-write notes. Scary to approach... but just do it, he is a great guy. GOOD LUCK!
This class is infinitely easier than 113 but you still have to study a lot. You don't need the textbook but you need the lab book every day. Lab tests are very easy if you make flashcards for the slides and know the models. He wants you to succeed, not just in this class, but in lifeyour career.
I took BIO113 in summer of '13. It's a rigorous course! It's like taking a 300 level biochem course at a university - LITERALLY. I'm in one now after leaving ECC and the material and level of difficulty is the same. Q definitely is prepping you for future courses and then some. I thank him for everything!!
His test are very long, mostly consisting of essay questions. He does not give partial credit for his test.
Q is a great guy outside of class. Always straightforward with you and willing to help BUT lets be real, the class went from 30 to 8 and only 3 were passing. The class was the hardest class I've ever taken. You have to study at least 3 hours a night and dedicate yourself to that class. I could never get my grade up. SO HARD!! please take my advice
Q is the most caring and intellectual instructor I've ever had. Yeah, his class is hard. But, the only people who complain about him are the one's who don't take the time to study. He gives plenty of opportunity to redeem yourself. He puts students before himself. Biology is a hard subject in general. So, don't take Bio if you think its a blow off!
Q is extremely smart and eager to share his knowledge. By far the best professor I've had at ECC. His class is super hard but I learned a ridiculous amount. He is nothing but helpful and caring and gives extremely generous curves.
Taking Q's class is like taking a 300 level biology class at Yale. He is clearly very intelligent and seems to be a nice guy, but it's way too hard for an introductory class at a community college. It's a little ridiculous that only 5 out of 24 students went on to BIO 114. Besides being hard, bio by nature isn't as interesting as chem or physics.
He relies heavily on his notes. Pay attention & ask questions when you can b/c a lot of people ask outside of class. He is a fast paced teacher. Outside sources are recommended, along with extra time to study to FULLY understand the concepts. Many people drop. there are people who do well, but they are outnumbered by people who do OK/poorly.
Took class twice, learned a lot but you better study every minute detail. Be prepared. Goes pretty fast in class, I would re write all my notes after his lecture to organize everything and make them neater. Tests are basically all critical thinking, you learn the concept in the book & in his lecture, but the test twists it & you gotta think hard.
He knows his stuff, but his stream-of-consciousness lectures do little to actually teach, and appear more as review, for a subject we came to LEARN. Don't bother with the book or the lab manual. Tests twist concepts "learned" in class. When tutors tell you they can't tutor you in a way that will help you pass, you have a professor issue.
He is the hardest professor I've had, but also he is the most caring one. He migh make you study a lot and make the questions as hard as possible, but that is only because he wants to prepare his students. He is always there to help and he actually care about his students. He is the most devoted professor I've met and I absolutely admire him.
very nice person, not the best teacher. Lectures are good just all over the place. When you dont understand something he kind of gets mad because he doesnt understand why you dont understand it. Not the best at explaining. DO NOT recommend
Great teacher, really cares for his student. He pushes the class to study outside of class. Yes, hard class but it is very rewarding at the end. I learnt so much and my studying methods improved drastically becasue of this class.
This was the worst class I have ever been in. I worked so hard everyday to try and get a good grade. I was striving for a B, but when I realized I didn't stand a chance, I went for a D. I asked questions left and right to try and understand, but he just looked at me like I was stupid. Never truly answers questions.... Do not take this class!!!
Liked him as a person, not as a teacher. He is caring and shows compassion for students but exams are like a different language. His lectures are fast paced but not terrible, they are more like a review of biology instead of actually teaching students biology. Went to him plenty times for help and still struggled to receive a D. Would not recommend
Q is a fantastic teacher and person, but his class is just really hard. You MUST put in the time and effort studying and asking questions if you want to pass. Any and all information given during class is fair game in tests and quizzes. There is no room to slack off in this class.
He taught differently than any other teacher did so anybody that didn't have him would be no help. Although he did give some very inspirational speeches, he would sometimes be a little harsh when somebody would ask a question. He lectures all the time and it wouldn't be interesting to follow because sometimes he would go too fast and make it hard.
Doctor Qasmieh is the best professor I have ever taken, period. He goes above and beyond to get students to truly understand the material. If you're debating whether to take BIO113 elsewhere, I recommend not to and to take it with him. Yes he is a hard professor, but that's only because he wants to prepare you for the future. I love this man.
He is awful! Whenever I went in for help he always gave me attitude and was so condescending! His lectures are incredibly fast paced so there's zero time to ask questions. He sucks at explaining things and is all over the place. You can count on memorizing your entire notes for the test for which he gives you no study guide or any idea about.
Skipped the gross level of understanding and went straight to subtlety/a refined level of understanding of bio in lecture. Some professors are able to teach students from gross level understanding and beyond. This prof. teaches only within a refined level of understanding. Be kind to yourself wherever you are in your understanding of the subject.
this teacher is extremely difficult, he just expects us to memorize all the material. He gets annoyed when he has to explain something more the once, test and quizzes are hardest i have ever taken. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR.
More than half of the class had to drop and or failed out it wasn't that the information that was difficult, it was the teaching style. I personally never have had a worse professor that does not care about students and their grades like this before. I would study for atleast 30+ hours a week just for this one class alone. and would still get an F
Pro's: Incredibly Intelligent Professor. Approachable in and out of class. Gives good feedback. Caring and Hilarious. He has office hours use it! It helps! Con's: Does not use textbook $240.40 or Lab Manual $73.35 (Campbell Biology: Concepts & Connections 9th Edition). The course can get difficult if you are not good at Chemistry and note taking.
A lot of work but more than fair. He gives you everything you need to get an A. He does not give away grades like my other teachers do. Honestly, most students don't want to work for their grades.
Have a question? Might as well ask other people because if you ask him, he'll get annoyed and talk to you like you're stupid. Hardest class I've ever taken. Lectures so fast and skips some steps in explaining and just assumes you'll figure it out on your own. I do not recommend taking 113 as your first year Bio course, let alone take Mr. Q.
Professor Qasmieh is the only professor I've had in my first year who actually teaches you at a college level. I've gone to his office several times to get extra help. Do not take this class if you don't have good note-taking skills or if you expect to be spoon-fed the knowledge. I would definitely want him as a professor again.
You have to study but it's easy to get extra help and advice
The material in this class is not hard, I know this because I took this class again and easily got a B with little effort. His lectures were hard to follow and book use was nonexistent! Makes students feel hopeless and not bright. Basically a know it all teacher who shouldn't be educating at an entry level BIO class. I ended up giving up.
Overall, he wants you to participate but in the end, when you end up talking or asking questions he makes you feel dumb. He offers one extra credit assignment but not enough to help you. Is easy to get ahold of. You only use the textbook if you want to, I would recommend it, everyone that passed in my class passed because of the textbook.
Prof. Q is an awesome professor! Many students find his class difficult but as long as you're a dedicated student this class should be fairly easy. Whatever Q. lectures about is 100% on the test, taking clear notes is key to getting a good grade in the class. I would recommend his class to everyone. Q. strives for all of his students to succeed.
Professor Qasmieh is a great guy he is funny, caring, and gives inspirational speeches. The bad about him is that he is very disorganized when teaching. Also, his test are very hard and on many occasions are about the same subject but something that has not been studied. Overall, I do not recommend this teacher.
Q was an amazing teacher. Biology has always been one of my least favorite subjects, but he made it interesting and fun. The class is very hard, so if you're not willing to work for a good grade, don't take it. The tests are really hard and the studying sucks, but if you're interested in biology, it would be an amazing class to take.
Prof. Qasmieh may be a difficult professor, but as long as you take notes, show up and work for the class you PAID to be in, you will find yourself succeeding. He pushes you because most students who take BIO 113 are looking towards Medical and Pharmacy school, to make it there, you need to be fully prepared. Highly recommend to take him.
I loved this class and professor. The class was hard but passable if you put in the effort. Professor Qasmieh is amazing. Does he make test intentionally hard? Yes. Did I leave the class more prepared for higher level courses the following semester? Absolutely. He makes himself very accessible if students and cares a great deal for all students.
Q was the first professor I met at ECC and he is still my favorite professor after all the time I have spent here. Q is one of the few science professors you will find that actually cares about his students. Teaching is his passion, and it absolutely shows. His lectures are fast-paced but absolutely enthralling. You will regret missing out on him.
Mr. Q. is the best because of the amount of help he is willing to provide. His class is challenging only because he is very prepared and smart. If you want to be ready for next classes, I would 100% choose him. The way he teaches is incomparable because he makes sure you understand the material and gives various examples. 100% possible to get an A.
In my 20 years of being in school never had I had a professor/teacher like Qamsieh. He actually cares about your education and treats everyone like if they were his own kids. With that being said you better be ready to PUT IN WORK. dedicate ur life to Bio 113. Hardest c lasss I've ever taken. Can't memorize must understand. Tests test ur comprehen
Hani Qasmieh is a legend we are lucky to have as a teacher. I am never going to forget Hani and will forever call him a friend. He cares about every student and doesn't sugar coat the truth, he will tell you what you need to do and help you in every way he can to do it. During any class with Mr. Q you are going to learn a lot. Best teacher ever!
Qasmieh is one of the most dedicated teachers I've ever had and the most supportive. I've had him for BIO 110, 113, and 114. His lectures are well organized and he gives you everything you need in order to pass. He will help you in any way that he possibly can. The rest is up to the student and whether they're willing to put in the work studying.
Q is an amazing professor and one of the smartest people I have ever met. His lectures are captivating, and his tests are some of the hardest. You will have to work for the grade you want in the class but its not impossible. He cares deeply for his students and encourages to meet outside of class, take advantage and meet with him when you can.
Come to class take NOTES, LISTEN write everything he says in your notes! Ask questions during and after class, he will be happy to help!
Professor Qasmieh is an incredible professor. When I took biology with him, it was the first science class I took out of high school. Granted the course itself can be a little hard, Professor Qasmieh goes out of his way to help his students understand and be successful. I haven't seen a more involved and inspiration professor! AWESOME GUY :)
Highly recommend Q, especially for science majors. He actually teaches the material in a way you can learn and remember for future classes. Life long knowledge and he's easy to talk to and ask questions!
His test and quizzes test your knowledge but if you study your notes heavy you'll get through it. Study groups and rewriting notes helped me tons!
Everything that is on the test comes off of the notes. He writes on the board as he's giving the lecture instead of using powerpoint which is nice. He also has office hours available for his students if you want to come in and relook over a quiz or test or ask any questions you had in class. He always goes over them in class as well.
Professor Qasmieh is a great professor who wants his students to really learn and learn how to be challenged. This course is a little difficult but completely passable if you put work in! If you don't understand he has a lot of office hours for help. Lectures are interesting and you can really tell that he cares about his students and material.
Professor Q is beyond question both brilliant and caring. Yes, his material is challenging but he is preparing you for a higher education in professional school. This class really teaches you how to study and take good notes. Write down everything he says and rewrite your notes. Prof Q will go out out of his way to help you succeed in your career.
Very interesting material. Definitely prepares you for harder biology courses in the future (and they get really difficult), and even prepares you for other courses, as he got me thinking out of the box. A lot of the material in this class is taught in other classes, but it's really thanks to Dr. Q that I understood it all.
I took Q for BIO 110, 113, and 114. I would recommend him to anyone interested in taking a biology course or looking to transfer to a four year institution. He looks to challenge you and your abilities to perform in the classroom. Do not take his classes lightly! But, he's an exceptionally fair grader, a wonderful professor, and a great person.
No homework, just studying at home. If you know your notes from lecture, you will excel is any of his classes. Very personable, understanding, friendly and funny. He expects lot of his students, but he is great at being available for any and all help needed. I'm actually sad I have exhausted all of the courses I can take with him. 10/10 recommend
Easy to approach and willing to provide extra help if needed. Studying is key, but everything you need to know is in the notes from lecture . (he says the textbook is needed, but I never used it... along with the lab book) No powerpoint, only lecture.
I've taken Q for BIO110, BIO113, AND BIO114. I have planned my schedule for each semester around his sections. He is a fantastic professor, very fair grader, and really cares for all of his students. His classes are somewhat difficult, but he is by far the best of the best if you want to know your stuff! KNOW YOUR NOTES!!!
Professor Q is by far one of the best professors I've ever had. He really cares about his students and wants them to achieve, really just a great guy all around and an excellent educator. His goal is to educate you, not pass you, so really don't expect to skate through his class without going to lecture and putting in work. Highly recommend.
You'll have to be fully committed to this class to do well. You definitely can't just breeze through the course. However, Q is an amazing teacher that will be willing to do everything he can to help you succeed if you ask. This class is hard but I loved it every step of the way. I feel like I've gotten more out of this class than any other I've had
If you elect to pass up a class with Professor Qasmieh, I feel sorry for you. He is by far one of the greatest professors (if not, the best) that I have had the honor of studying under. He leads by such great example and demonstration of character, challenges you to be your best. Learn as much as you can from him (he knows more than the book)!
Qasmieh is easily one of the best STEM professors I have studied with. He encourages you to strive for true understanding and appreciation of the material, not just an A in the class. I took a 5 week summer course with him and it was a challenging course. There is no room for slacking off here. That being said, it is 100% worth it.
Q is one of the most amazing professors I've had. This class is TOUGH, but Q goes above and beyond to help his students succeed through detailed lectures, review sessions, and a decent amount of extra credit. He genuinely cares about his students and forces us to think beyond what we're memorizing, and focus on why it is important.
Professor Q is an amazing professor, and is very dedicated in making sure his students understand what is being taught. He is always available during office hours, and is willing to help you at any time to help you succeed. He is always willing to go over tests, and help you understand.
Professor Q is honestly one of the best professors Ive ever had. If you are attentive and ask questions in class, you will surely end up with a good grade. He is more than fair and wants every single one of his students to pass. He is happy to answer any questions and meet with his students during office hours. Definitely a professor worth taking.
Q was one of the best professors Ive ever had. Hes extremely caring and wants everyone in his class to succeed. The class may seem hard, but any BIO 110 class will be. Its a lot of information to be learned, but if you study and try your hardest, youll do great! Q is always willing to help all of his students in anyway he can! Highly suggest!
It was a hard class but Mr. Q was a great professor. He did everything he could to help students raise their grades. He lectured everyday and tests were often. I would definitely take this professor again. He made jokes and was lighthearted but made sure his expectations were known and made it a point to talk with every student.
class is difficult but he goes above and beyond to help you achieve higher scores, genuinely cares about his students. 10/10 recommend
This class (Bio 110) was a real punch in the face. It teaches new college students the importance of studying. It was a very difficult class. With that being said, Dr Q. is one of my favorite professors I have ever had. Very helpful if you see him in his office hours, really makes sure people understand, and will be real with you if you need it.
This class was really difficult (BIO 110), but as everyone else said, Q really does care about his students like "his own kids" (his words). Makes himself available to his students to help them as much as he can. He is extremely smart and knows bio inside and out. Lab book was never used, textbook rarely used(never in class only on your own time)!
He runs an amazing class, i always looked forward to lecture and lab. there's so much good i could say about Prof. Qasmieh but don't have room. I personally enjoyed that he wrote out his notes and examples, rather then use power point that way we could keep up. Always seemed interested in the material which kept it engaging for me. 10/10
I asked Q why he decided to be a teacher instead of a doctor because he is really smart, and he said "because I love kids & they keep me young & I learn a lot from them". That is Q in a nutshell. He truly cares and does whatever he can to help you succeed- you just have to do your part and take advantage of office hours. Hard class but worth it!
Q is one of the most genuine people I have ever met. He truly cares about his students and wants them to succeed. He is always willing to help, not only with the material from class, but with anything in life. The class is challenging, but very rewarding, and his passion for what he does makes even learning about cellular division a fun experience.
Q was a great teacher. He cares about his students and is always putting time in for them. His tests are very hard. I really learned how to efficiently study, however. I learned a lot of valuable life lessons.
Very good professor but you must work hard and review and understand notes. He helped me pass the class the second time I took it. Very sweet and generous man.
Prof. Q,is by far the best professor I have EVER had. His class is difficult but take great notes, ask questions & you will succeed. He is more of a mentor and cares most about his students success & understanding. I have never learned/understood so much in one cIass. If you are pre-med or pre-pharm,Q offers the best advise for your future success.
Q is easily the best professor that I have had. Not only is he an excellent teacher, he also genuinely cares about his students inside and outside of the classroom. If you want an easy A, then this is not the class for you. It takes work to be able to succeed in his classroom but you will leave with an understanding to prosper in future courses.
Bio110 is an extremely difficult class, however Mr Q. makes the class so worth it. Although I didnt get an A in the class, I genuinely feel like I actually learned the material. Attendance is crucial. He is extremely helpful during office hours. It is evident that he cares about his students, inside and outside of class. Very kind and fair
Tough professor but hands down one of the best professors I've ever had. It's amazing how much I learned as well as grown as a student because of him. None compare to him. Truly an outstanding teacher that cares much about his students and will make his best effort to get his students to understand the material. 11/10 would take again!
Great teacher to have a conversation with, but that's about it. Syllabus was given out with specific instructions that buying both the textbook and lab book were mandatory, not ONCE did we use them (waste of money). He also taught everything but bio 110 and expected you to complete an exam with information we didn't go over in class.
Mr. Q is the best professor to take if you plan on pursuing a career in the medical field. He is very wise and knows a lot when its comes to preparing for medical school and biology in general. He is always willing to help you study for each of his exams and quizzes if you come in during his office hours. 10/10 would take his class again.
Mr. Q is a nice guy, but not the best professor. You can tell he is very knowledgeable about the topics, but he expects his students to know the information as good as he does. He lectures ALOT by writing things down on the board which doesn't make his lectures clear or easy to follow. Even if you study for hours, his tests are EXTREMELY hard!!
Professor Q is an idol to most of the students that make it to 114. He is a gem & the best professor I was blessed to have for 3 semesters at ECC. His classes are not a joke but he will do everything to see his students succeed. By far a gem at ECC & deserves the absolute most recognition and appreciation. 100/10 recommend to dedicated students.
I really enjoyed having Q as a professor. class was really tough and i struggled but having him as a teacher was best case scenario. great guy really cares about his students!!!!
Professor Q is an awesome, caring person who is passionate about teaching. He is a brilliant professor who teaches extremely well and expects a lot from his students. His tests are hard but they really test your knowledge of the concepts being taught by him. Skipping class is not an option for succeeding in his class.
Yes hes a very very tough grader, studying outside class regularly bases and not the day before the exam is mandatory to do well in his class! Hes always available for students and willing to go over test and quizzes. Hardest class ive taken but im highly thankful for Mr Q! Study HARD!!
Prof. Q was an outstanding teacher. His lectures were very interesting & I gained a lot of knowledge from his class that I continue to use everyday. What I really liked about this professer was that he gave you the grade he thought you deserved. The class itself is not easy & requires A LOT of studying. Do your work, come to class & youll pass.
Prof. Q is easily one of the best teachers I have ever had. He is a very nice guy and he truly wants all of his students to succeed. The main ingredient you need in order to get the most out of this professor is to be willing to work hard. If you show him that you care about your grade, he will do whatever he can to help you succeed.
If you are going into healthcare he is the professor to take hell prepare you for future classes. The class overall is hard because it is hard material but if you take good notes and study you will be ok. He is easy to reach during his office hours if you need help. Overall Q was a great professor and cares about his students! Would take again!
Professor Q is an outstanding teacher. He truly cares about all his students and wants them all to succeed. He is very easy to reach and will help his students in any way he can. His tests are very hard, so study study study. I would definitely take Q again
I took Q for BIO 113 and it was honestly one of the best classes I've taken so far. He's very well educated and passionate about the topics he is teaching and strives to have his students achieve as much as possible. He will go over tests and quizzes with you and do whatever he can to try to boost your grade, especially if you're on a border grade.
Q is one of kind. He is like a father figure to his students. He truly wants you to succeed. Yes, the class IS demanding, but what you put in is what you get, so YOU MUST REGULARLY STUDY for exams as they can make or break your grade. It took me 2 tries to pass. Q is available outside of class. Overall, I couldn't have asked for a better teacher :)
He is a really good teacher. His lectures explain everything in great detail and it is very effective for the students as everything will be in your notes, and what is in the notes is what is on the test. He cares a lot about the students, tries to help them as much as possible, and is very passionate and knowledgeable about the subject.
Professor Q is such a great professor. Very kind and funny. He is availabile after and before class. He love teaching and he cares about his students and wants them to succeed.
Professor Q. was such an inspirational teacher, caring, and kind. He cared for all of his students and wants everyone to succeed. The class can be difficult, but if you are willing to put in the work and apply yourself then you will be ok. His lectures are well explained, so take notes and study, study, study. Best teacher I have ever had!
Q was one of the best professors Ive ever had. He really cares about all his students and is always willing to help you out to make sure you succeed. Hes really funny and makes lectures enjoyable. 10/10 would recommend and I would definitely take his class again
Mr. Q is a great professor! He keeps lectures very interesting, he is very funny, and really knows the material he is teaching which makes the class run smoothly. He really cares about his students and their success. You do have to take good notes throughout and rewriting them helps a lot. Over all great class and amazing professor!
The class was super hard, but if you do your work and pay attention, youll be okay. Q really does everything he can so that you succeed, but you must work hard.
Professor Q is a great teacher. His class is very difficult if you don't study. Make sure you do well on the first couple tests because it will only get harder. He truly does care about his students, but only if you show you care. Lecture is extremely important. Anything he says in class will be on the test. Rewriting your notes will be helpful.
For most of the classes I've taken, all that was needed for an A was to show up, try to pay attention, maybe write a couple papers. BIO 110 isn't like that. At all. Lectures are everything, write down every single thing, and rewrite all your notes several times. The book really isn't needed. Q is great, but you have to be willing to really work.
Professor Q is by far one of the best teachers at Elgin Community college. His knowledge and intelligence is unmatched. The biology sequence he teaches can be kind of challenging; however, I guarantee you will come out of that sequence with more knowledge than you'll know what to do with. He makes biology fun and interesting.
Do not take this professor. Be ready to teach yourself. you are paying to teach your self!
He does not want his students to pass. He just sends notes out and does not lecture. Be ready to feel dumb when you ask a question. He has been teaching too long and needs to go for being negative. He talks more about how wealthy is family and how they are all in medical field. just be ready to read the book and teach your self
Prof makes you feel dumb when you ask ?'s, MC has about 12 choices PER question. He ALWAYS compares his classes to make it known how bad each one is. Lectures help but yet follow up ?'s he will always answer with "guys you should know this already" after teaching for only 5 min. More than 85% complained and dropped out. Started with 28, only 7 left
Q is an amazing teacher he care and really wants you to pass his class he will be up front with you but that because he care about you and wants you to succeed in class and life. Q is available outside of class to meet with you about class or any problem you might have and he give amazing advice.
This is the second time I taken his class. First time, I missed out on the C and got a D+. Class is tough but second time around was a lot easier. You still have to study and you shouldn't rely on your old notes because each semester is different. But his teaching and notes are applied 100% in the test and he always available when you need him.
Prof lessor Qasmieh teaches very well. He explains to detail. Just prepare to study, and youd do very fine in the class.
Professor Q is hands down one of the best professors/teachers you will ever come across in your life, if not THE best. The content is difficult and not to be taken lightly, but Q makes it fun and easy to understand. He cares about his students and wants them too succeed. You just need to put in the effort! I LOVED this class, because of Q.
This class isn't one where you can put off work till the last minute. You have to throw yourself into the course and put a lot of focus and concentration into it. Q will help you every step of the way, because he cares about YOUR success. Anyone who complains otherwise probably didn't put in any effort towards the course. He is so nice and inspiring
He's a diligent, caring professor. His lectures are extremely meticulous; tolerates any outrageous answer and turns it into a rather realistic and amusing tale. The keystones of acquiring an A in this course are the following: prepare as soon as possible, study the biological content when it becomes second nature, and solidify your understanding.
Effort is everything! You get out what you put into the class. Q wants to help you succeed but its your job to reach out and hell always make time to help you. He cares about his students and invests alot of his time into them. He definatly made an impact on my life.
Bio 113 & 114 arent easy classes. You have to work very hard and study consistently to get a good grade. However, Q is an amazing teacher who always does everything he can to help his students. His lectures are very clear and are what the test is based off, always available for email and in his office outside of class. Amazing teacher and person.
Q cares about the student and not just their grades. His class isn't a walk in the park that's for sure. To do good in this class, you're gonna have to give your 100% (something I regret not doing). Slacking off won't get you anywhere in this class. If you're not doing well, go to his office hours and he'll help you understand the material.
Amazing professor! Prepares you well for health related fields/careers. Very caring and is always available to answer questions; super fast replies!
Extremely caring and genuine person and teaches the concepts very well. His exams are tough though so be ready to put in the effort. In other words you can't afford to slack off. If you have any doubts, he's always more than willing to clarify the concept.
I am a student who took Q for bio 110 and 113 and let me tell you that he is one of the best professors Ive ever come across. That does not mean his class is easy. You will have to work really hard in this class, but Q will be there by your side throughout the semester inside and outside the class. He is the most accessible professor you will find
Q is the best professor I have ever had. He truly cares about his students. He wants everyone to succeed and will make himself accessible under any circumstances. However, this class is VERY difficult and you will have to work for your grade.
Q's BIO113 taught me much more than basic microbiology. I entered his class as a student with a subpar GPA, little to no understanding on how to efficiently study, and no idea where my college experience would be taking me. I'm leaving with strait A's in all of my classes, and a brighter outlook on my academic future. Don't take his word lightly.
I had Professor Q in the fall semester of 2019. I enjoyed his class because he was funny, nice, and helpful. He lectures and writes stuff on the whiteboard which helps us know what will be on the test cause its the content we are learning, but I ended dropping the class because it was hard to follow along because I couldnt get the notes early.
I have taken Q for two different bio classes. The first time I struggled in his class because I was not used to higher level classes. He is definitely somebody you want on your side. He is a funny, inspiring, down to earth person. Take some time to get to know him... he is an open book and far much more than just a teacher to many. 10/10 recommend.
Hani is a great teacher who this past semester proved he will do anything to help his students including making and emailing videos on explaining specific questions. He does expect you to put in the time but he will put in the time in return to help you back. If you are sick of teachers who ignore students then Take his class
Great Professor who truly looks out for his students! His class is definitely test heavy, but he gives you all the material necessary to succeed. He puts a great amount of time into being accessible at any hour of the day, which is greatly appreciated!
He was very helpful in lectures and making sure everyone knew the content needed for the assessments. He was always willing to help me with any problems I had and explained the content in great ways I could pick up on. I was worried about a 100% online class, but Mr. Qasmieh made the learning experience much better then I was expecting.
He is a nice guy but not so very good professor. I went to him for help because i wasn't understanding the material but he did not want to help me he just told me to study harder. Kinda disappointing because he is A very nice guy.
Prof. Q went above and beyond to make sure we got the most out of BIO-110. In his handwritten notes he explained main concepts that would be on exams. He was always available to answer questions and took the time to explain difficult concepts over Zoom. You can tell he really cares about his students' success and does everything he can to help.
Professor Q was so helpful and attentive. He was available whenever you had questions and did a great job explaining each concept, which didn't come easily to me. Not many teachers will stay on a zoom session with you for 4 hours on a Friday night! If you work hard, participate, and are dedicated to actually learning the concepts it will pay off.
Professor Qasmieh is dedicated to his students success. If you put the work in hes there to help you succeed. He provided helpful study materials, including his own hand written notes. He made himself available to answer questions 24/7 by phone, email, or text. Id take him again.
Took him for 113 and 114. I barely passed 113 and withdrew from 114. He's very knowledgeable, but the class was ridiculously hard for no reason. His exams are impossible, most fail and few get As & Bs. If you take him, take only 12 credit hours with easier gen eds as your other classes. You have to study a lot and master the content to succeed.
It was only the 2nd day of zoom class and he was unwilling to teach the class about things we never went over. he expected us to watch 2-3 hour videos of him teaching another online course. when we told him we were confused about certain parts of the problems he became rude and said we should already know these things even though he didn't teach us
He is SO RUDE! barely 2nd day of zoom class & it feels like im weeks behind. He expects you know things he hasn't taught yet! If asked a question he responds with saying he already taught/explained that part to a previous class & to go look at his other videos that are 1-2 hrs long! He stated he only teaches you what he didnt in his previous class
DO NOT TAKE unless you committed to studying biology 24/7 on your own. He is not a good teacher and you will need to teach yourself everything. His expectations are absolutely ridiculous (EX: wants you to watch the Zoom recordings of all his sections of the class which totals to 10+ hours of lecture each week). I'm surprised he's allowed to teach..
I took Mr.Q for an in person class for Fall 2019. He's a very dedicated professor, if you need help, he's very open with meeting for tutoring. He made having an 8am tolerable. BIO 110 in general is a very difficult class so your best option would be to go with Mr.Q. DO THE PRACTICES THAT HE GIVES YOU.
I am a graduate student and Q's BIO-113 class is the hardest class I've ever taken. I have never learned more than from Professor Q. His expectations are high, but students taking this class will be future nurses, doctors and biomedical professionals; there is no reason for a low bar.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! His tests are impossible and the quizzes they are timed. His handwritten notes are so confusing he wants you to study 24/7 theres more than 50 pages of notes you need to study a lesson. exams are 100 questions. do not take this teacher if you cant study 24/7 :)
Prof Q is one of the best professors I have ever had. I had Prof Q for Bio 113/114. Both of these classes are very challenging. Prof Q will not go easy on you. He expects you to thoroughly learn and understand a lot of material. However, he truly cares about his students and supports them anyway he can.
This professor is impossible! He doesnt know what hes talking about half of the time, and cant do simple probability problems! Plus, he gets mad when you try to correct him. Impossible!
He is more like a father figure to me. I took his class in the summer 2020 which was online. The material was really hard to cover in 2 months but he almost zoomed 4 hours with us each day to make sure the students know everything. I would say he prepared me for all the challenging classes by teaching me how to be work in biology.
Compares you to other students that're succeeding. Expects you to spend 30 hours on his class, ignoring the fact people have other classes and jobs. Will make you uncomfortable by telling you he loves you, only way to communicate is through your personal number regardless if you email him, and that he is talking to us as a father figure. Terrible.
This was one of the hardest classes for me but professor Qasmieh helped me get through it. He asks on every zoom if we have any questions and is willing to meet with you outside of class. You just have to put in the effort and actually study to get a good grade. If you do that, you're good!
Studying is required. It took me some time to realize this, but as soon as I started putting more time and effort, I got to enjoy the class. He is always available to answer any questions or concerns, and will answer right away. The lectures are presented in a way that makes you think, this helps you learn the information.
Professor hani is the best biology professor. His lectures are amazing. But, test and quizzes are heavy though and also you will get lots of homework.
He is such a wonderful professor who really cares for his students! He is always willing to meet with student outside of class and is more than willing to give the extra help if needed in the class. His class is hard but it completely doable if you put in the work. He provides ample resources for students and I advise using them!
This wasnt my first time taking Bio. Ive taken it once before in person and now online. Youd think it would be easier online right, wrong. You miss the hands on and the extra help in person. He gives you everything to succeed in that class! You have to work for your grade! He is always there to help and is very kind & understanding!
Professor Qasmieh is the best professor Ive ever had. He has extremely high expectations, so be prepared to give your all. If you put in the work, youll get so much out of this class. Ive taken away so many skills including how to be a better student, how to be a better test taker, and how to study more efficiently. Could not recommend more
This is the second time Ive taken Mr. Qasmieh and tbh his courses are hard you have to study and put in your work, but they do get you ready for all your upcoming classes if you continue with bio. Mr. Q is a great guy and really does care for his students.
If you genuinely want to learn stuff about biology I would definitely recommend taking him. He's the most generous and loving professor I have ever had. You will have to work hard to get the grade you desire to get. There will be opportunities throughout the semester where he will offer extra points in which you'll have to work hard to achieve them
Mr. Q is one of the best professors I have taken at ECC. He is very specific about everything and is very punctual. He will literally give you every single tiny bit of information you need through emails. Very good with communicating with students. Teaches everything on point. You just have to work hard for the grade you want to achieve. Heis amazi
Proffesor Hani is a very caring teacher. Even though his class is tough, he want everyone to succeed, and tries his best to the students. He is very accessible; if you email or text him even on the weekends, he responds within minutes and ready to help. That said, he does expect a lot out of his students.
Prof Q is very passionate about the subject he teaches. He makes sure that what he is teaching gets across your head as clearly as possible. The class that I took with him was admittedly, not an easy class, but I still learned a lot during the lectures. I felt engaged during his class and was eager to learn more.
Professor Qasmieh is by far the best teacher Ive ever had. While an excelling biology class, it is so much more than that. This class has taught me self discipline, how to be a better student, test taking skills, but most of all, it truly motivated me to be the best I can. Extremely challenging, but its amazing for personal development. Recommend
Professor Qasmieh is by far the best professor I have ever had. He will always expect the most from his students and pushes them to succeed. He wants to set up his students for the future and he does exactly that. He is always accessible and will give up his free time to help students. If you work hard and stick with it, you will be in great shape.
Professor Qasmieh is very helpful outside of class and sometimes during lectures but having an online class made things more difficult. It was very test heavy but he gives you plenty of helpful notes and other resources to understand the material. If you ask him a question he may get upset at you for not knowing how to do it. Good luck g!
This was my second time taking professor Q for bio113(failing the first time)and I Think that the biggest thing for his class is to stay ahead of the game, show up to each lecture, take notes, and spend a ton of hours outside of class time reviewing/asking him questions! He is the most approachable professor you will ever have and the most genuine.
Q is definitely always there if you need him, but can be a bit rude. This class is extremely difficult it is very independent and requires you to spend many hours everyday to study if you want to do well. The online format of this class makes it difficult to learn the material and can be hard to keep up with the demands of the many quizzes/tests.
Q is honestly one of the best teachers Ive probably ever had. You will never take a class where the information you need to know is more set and clear for you. This class is definitely no joke and you need to do put in lots of time for it, but Q tries to make it as efficient as possible for you. Hes also very understanding and so funny!!
Best. Teacher. EVER! Yes, you need to work for the grade you want, but that is the reality of any science class. Day or night he will be there for you to answer any questions that you have to ensure your understanding of any material. To put it plain and simple, he is a good man. A good man that anyone would be lucky to have as a teacher.
The Class can be Challenging but the proffesor gives you all the materials needed to succeed. He is Very open and more than willing to help. Overall his class was both challenging and enjoyable, and teaches you not only about biology but work ethic. You truly earn the grade you work for.
BIO113 was my return to college after previously completing my B.S. I can say, without hesitation, Professor Qasmieh was by far the most accessible and proactive professor I have ever encountered. He wants all of his students to succeed and provides all of the necessary material. Study the material he provides, and don't be afraid to reach out.
With any science class, it is going to be demanding of the time for studying and dedication but with Mr. Qasmieh he tries to make it able his students to do it efficiently. He is a very understanding and wants to genuinely see his students succeed! He is very accessible outside of class and will reply almost immediately. Best teacher at ECC :)
Qasmieh is honestly an outstanding professor. His care for student success is unmatched! Like any science, his classes are difficult, but he is extremely accessible! Whether you are acing the class or failing miserably, Q treats everyone with respect and empathy. DO NOT BE AFRAID to reach out! He is definitely one who is here to help! 150/10
His class was so ridiculous I had to drop after two weeks. He makes you watch all his 2 hour lectures from every other section of BIO113 and even all of his 110 classes as well because he never goes over the same content twice. He would start in the middle of content and say you must watch all the other lectures to understand everything.
Character limit is 350 and that is NOT enough to express my disdain for this professor. So I will save as much space as I can: -10 hours of zoom lecture/week. He recycles irrelevant content from other courses - 70 INDIVIDUAL QUESTION weekly quizzes -insists on using handwritten notes -Condescending -Ridiculous expectations DO NOT TAKE!!!
Very knowledgeable on the subject he teaches, but makes you work for your grade. Tells you from the very beginning what will be needed to succeed in his class. Mr. Q is always easily accessible to reach out to if you need help and gives a generous amount of possible extra credit points for test/quizzes .
The amount of students essentially complaining that Prof Q provided too many resources to succeed is beyond me. Yes, the class is tough but Prof Q goes out of his way to make himself available to his students. The grade is truly earned! As a prereq to the health field, his class taught self discipline & skills to be successful moving forward. 11/10
This is around my 10th class at ECC, and by far this Professor stands out, he loves what he does with a passion and wants his students to succeed , The lectures are defiantly detailed, but quite understandable compared to the previous Bio class I took, I strongly recommend this Professor if you need to take Bio!
I was skeptical to be in Q's class at first. However, I found out that not only is he extremely passionate about biology, but he is equally as passionate about his student's success. He is VERY accessible by text. His lectures & notes provide all the info needed for quizzes & exams. He's funny & caring. I just had to apply myself. He's the best!
Regardless of the professor, BIO 110 is a difficult course to take. I learned that the hard way. I had plenty of slip ups and difficult times when taking the class. However, professor Hani Qasmieh always caught them and helped me get through them. He is a tough teacher but it's because he wants his students to be engaged and learn the subject.
Professor Q. is a great teacher. The class is hard just like any other BIO 110 class would be, but Q. does a great job helping you. He made hours of lecture video explaining concepts and handwritten notes. He was always willing to help whenever I asked for it and had quick responses. I wish he was teaching some of the other classes I need to take.
I have never had a professor so dedicated to his class providing plenty of resources to study material and availability to talk practically whenever. The class is difficult and requires a large chunk of time to study but all the materials you need to succeed are given to you. Plus if you do all the labs it's a free 120 (equal to a 100% on a test).
I was a little skeptical about taking this class with Prof Q because I had heard that he was a very hard teacher. After finishing the class I think that some students just misunderstood him. Prof Q cares about his students success and future. Its a lot of work but he is always accessible and willing to help you. I appreciate that he believed in me
He is an outstanding professor, really kind, and his class makes you work for what you receive as well as makes you stronger.
Professor Qasmieh is the best professor I have had. He truly cares about the success of his students. This class is intended for future doctors and nurses and he knows that. So, he will push you hard to ensure that you will succeed in the future. He will always make himself available and puts in a lot of time to ensure the success of his students!
I took BIO 110-403 with Professor Qasmieh and while it was the most difficult class I'd taken at ECC, I ended up loving it. He provides plenty of detailed lecture videos and is always a text/email away whenever you have questions. He sends plenty of reminders to keep students up to date on assignments and exams. 10/10 would take this class again!!
Professor Q was the most kind, funny, caring, and overall amazing professor I have ever had. Although you have to work for the grade you want, it is 100% worth it and Professor Q is ALWAYS available to talk. Not only was I treated with respect, but I was treated like family. Professor Q is one of the best professors, and one of my favorite people!
Professor Q is an outstanding professor! He cares for his students, and is very easy to talk to. Hes always available to help, and has a great sense of humor. The class is extremely difficult, but doable if you put in the proper amount of work. The class requires lots of practice, so expect that! I now have a solid foundation in bio thanks to him!
This is not an easy class, it requires effort and discipline. I think this class takes you out of your comfort zone, is challenging, and prepares you for a heavier workload. However, professor Qasmieh is a great teacher, he is accessible out of class, clear about grading criteria, is always willing to help, and gives you the tools to succeed.
Prof Q is the best teacher I've ever had. He is the most genuine professor that I have ever taken. The class itself is not that hard if you take out time to study the material he posts. He's always willing to help no matter what!
He is an outstanding professor to have, is very kind once you get to know him, and his class may be challenging but is a class that make you stronger. This class is worth taking especially if you are looking for a class that will make you work for what you earn. I really do recommend taking it.
This course is difficult. You cannot slack off for a second, and you must dedicate hours each day to studying the material if you aspire for a B/A. Professor Q expects you to work for your grade. He is challenging, but he truly wants you to succeed. He is very personable, easy to talk to, hilarious, kind and without a doubt my favorite professor.
Professor Q is by far the best professor at ECC and he expects only the best from his students. He is available 24/7 and will go out of his way to make sure you succeed. Super caring professor and has turned me into a better student overall because of his class. His class is a ton of work and if you don't put in the effort you won't succeed.
Professor Q's deep understanding of biochemistry provided me with a substantial paradigm shift regarding the nature of biology. From the logic of cellular mechanisms to the balance of endocrinology, any leaps in logical continuity when conceptualizing the bigger picture were easily fixed with a simple text. Being his student was truly enthralling.
Very detailed exams and you have to know your material well, but presents you with everything you need to succeed. "Your grade reflects your effort." Professor is very clear in his directions and gives you everything to succeed on his exams, and makes himself as available as possible to help you out and tutor you in his free time. Very friendly :).
Professor Qasmieh is dedicated and passionate about teaching. it is his unique guidance and methods that urged me to excel in this class. Thank you for inspiring me.
Professor Qasmieh is an amazing professor. He cares about his students. Available to answer any questions or go over tests. Very knowledgeable. Took this a summer course. As long as you do the work you will do great. 100% recommend!
One of the greatest professors Ive taken! He truly cares about his students. He is available 24/7 and is willing to make zoom calls until you understand the material. He is straightforward since day one what the class will consist of. Please dont procrastinate! 10/10 recommended :)
Professor Qasmieh was up there as the best Professor I have been taught by at ECC. He truly wanted you to succeed in his class and gave you every material as well as every opportunity to succeed. Truly the best. I would 100% take another one of his classes!
Unrealistically wants you to study 2-3 A DAY! I am not sure how you expect a student to fit 2-3 hours A DAY into a full time schedule. He might be knowledgeable but he does not have a clue on student life and how much more stress this adds. Yes, he does make you work for your grade but it's extremely difficult to excel with the amount of time.
Do not register for this professor unless you want to fail on the spot, a waste of my money and he's not as helpful as students say he is. Caring guy if you know your stuff, but it is literally heavy reading, lecturing, and studying. lec. vids are usually 6-20 hours every 2 weeks, but It just depends on the chapters those weeks. extremely difficult
Mr Q is great-the class is very hard! You will work for your grade. But you will also learn! This class requires loads of hours each week, but Mr Q provides you with whatever you need. He is available ALL THE TIME, prompt in replying to texts and emails. Personally tutored me on zoom! What teacher does that? If you don't pass, it's your own fault.
Will undoubtedly challenge you in the best way. This class actually ensures that comprehension is prioritized over memorization and won't leave you feeling like you received a subpar education. Even if you are unable to get your desired grade, the learning experience itself is valuable and extends past just biology. You learn better ways to learn.
I love this man! Best person and teacher to ever exist in my life. Though his class is difficult, that's because he pushes you to become the best version of your academic self and that being said your emotional self. Not a class to take for the weak, but if you are willing to become the best version of yourself this man will help you get there.
Mr Qasmieh is great professor. The class is hard but with your hard work you can pass the class easily. This class requires many hours of study in a week. Professor Qasmieh is available all the time whenever you text, call or email him he will reply in minute also he dose a zoom call to help you. He will do anything to help. 10/10 recommended
Q is one of the best professors I've had. You will work HARD in his class, but you will not regret it. He goes out of his way to be accessible basically 24/7, and will always make time to help you if there's anything you're not understanding. Take his class if you want a challenging course with an amazing professor.
Professor Qasmieh went above and beyond the normal roles of a professor. He is very accessible outside the class, even answering my questions at 7 pm on a Saturday. While the amount of coursework may seem overwhelming, he thoroughly prepared me for exams, assuring that I excelled. Qasmieh has made me a much better student than before. Thank you!
Prof. Qasmieh is so passionate about passing knowledge to his students. I registered for his remote class but I had to ask him to pls let me join his in-class lecture, after I watched a video and saw how he actually teaches. You need to really understand the course content for you to do well in tests and exams. Pls take him, if you care for knowle
Ive posted here before, but as Im wrapping up at ECC, I wanted to come back to say that you wont find anyone like Prof. Qasmieh at ECC. Hands down, he is the BEST instructor Ive ever had. Ill remember him for quite a long time. Earning an A in both Bio113 and 114 was the hardest thing Id done to date, but it is rewarding. Best classes at ECC
Prof. Qasmieh is an amazing instructor. Super helpful and quick to respond to any questions you may have. This professor pushes you to do your best and genuinely cares about his students. If you are looking to be challenged and able to take something away from a course then choose this professor, he is one of the best!!
Prof Qasmieh makes everything clear and straightforward. You will always know what needs to be done as long as you check you email and D2L. He was always easily accessible. He truly does care about his students and their success. This course does require a large portion of your time. Workload is heavy, but doable as long as you put the effort in.
Prof. Qasmieh is friendly & understanding & his knowledge is very admirable. He cares about his students and it's evident by the way he makes himself accessible. He's a srsly dedicated teacher & the *best* lecturer. The course is tough for sure, but i promise it is doable if you put in effort. You'll learn A LOT & will leave with in-depth knowledge
Professor Qasmieh is very straight forward with his teaching. He will answer any questions as he is a caring professor and care for his students to succeed.
Professor Qasmieh is a great professor who encourages his students to earn their grade and fully understand concepts presented in the course. Although the class requires a lot of time and effort, it is meaningful work. Furthermore he is always there when needed and is very friendly.
I took his class fully online, with no lectures. He posts zoom videos for you to watch every week. He does a very good job explaining and his expectations are clear. Theirs labs once a week as well as quizzes every friday. If you watch his videos you will do just fine.
Professor Qasmieh cares deeply about his students as people as well as learners. His class is challenging but ultimately rewarding. However, it is not for the undedicated. You must put in the work to do well, and that is what I found most enjoyable. It was refreshing to have to think critically and be in a place where comprehension was valued.
BIO113 w/ Prof. Qasmieh was the most valuable class I've taken at ECC. It was challenging: 11/14 students dropped. Passing was rewarding & you learn so much because of the effort this class requires. Prof. Q is beyond caring & is only a text away. Best experience & best professor but your due diligence is crucial.
Dr. Qasmieh's class is perfect for those with a passion for biology and related fields. If you take any of his classes, you will learn so much, while being challenged. Students with a good work ethic will thrive in his class.
Professor Qasmieh is an amazing teacher and always goes the extra mile for his students. None of his classes are easy by any means, but he does give you the tools to succeed. Professor Q is always available for questions and will help you if you ask for it. He cares more about his students than any other teacher I've had!
The 4/5 star reviews over consecutive days are fake. He lectures on facts, tests on theory; that's not effective teaching. He's proud of his drop rate; no 100 level course should be intentionally hard. I moved to a 4year, took cell bio; could have cried at how much I learned with less stress. Your understanding of biology is not a priority in class
Professor Qasmieh cares so much about his students and it shows. If you take his class, reach out and get to know him then you will see. The class has a lot of lectures to watch. There are also labs to complete (most weeks) which often took about 2 hours each. If you take his class be sure to have enough time on your hands; it is not easy.
Professor Qasmieh is the best professor I have had yet! He taught with so much quality and thoroughness, that often times whatever I learned in Q's class, was useful in the preceding classes. He genuinely cares about students and carries his position with an open, good heart. Dedicate yourself and you will be grateful to have taken his class.
Great professor, I learnt lot from him. He is Very knowledgeable. I was in fast track class, but he expertise and mastery on biology was help student lot to get knowledge in short period of time. He is always available for student. Many time I called him and text him for question, he reply right away and always give me answer of my questions.
He is an amazing professor because he makes sure that his students are succeeding in his class. He provides all pf the notes and practice questions that you need to know for the test. He likes to give extra credit quizzes to help students learn and a chance to get a better grade in the class. Overall he is one of the best bio teachers.
If you want to take his classes, you have to make sure you have a lot of time to put into it. Even though it said it was a 4 credit course, treat it like a 6 or 7 credit course. I do feel Qasmieh really put a lot of effort into teaching his students. If another professor tried explaining the same concepts to me, I wouldn't have understood it.
You get out what you put in in this class. It is structured like a university course, the professor teaches what fits in the lecture time, the rest is on you to learn, but he will provide everything you need to fully understand the material. Attendance is mandatory, but he is willing to work with you as long as you are putting work into the class.
This class requires many hours of studying and constant note-taking throughout lectures, but a wide variety of resources are accessible to gain an understanding of the material outside of class. Anyone can succeed and anyone can fail, effort (and time) is the primary determining factor for achievement.
Best Professor! I've ever had very helpful, replies to texts quickly. He posts lecture videos of every chapter; can easily score an A or B grade in the class if you watch them.
Professor Qasmieh is very student-centered. I had unfortunate events happen to me during the semester which led me to fall a bit behind. There is a lot of work load, but it does not go unrewarded. You will enjoy the lectures, and there are plenty of opportunities to learn and do better. He gives amazing resources and advice for every student.
BIO 113 is a hard and demanding class regardless of the teacher but Prof Q made the class easier. He gave some of the best lectures on the subject and was insanely knowledgeable about everything discussed in class. If you don't understand something, this teacher is super accessible outside of class and provides tons of resources if you reach out.
The first half is a lot busier compared to the second. Although there is a lot of content, he's very lenient, understanding, and makes the class fun.
i do not suggest you take his class. There is no homework or clear textbook pages to study off of. The only material you will get is notes. tests are always 100+ questions and your grade depends on them. He is very accessible so ill give him that. If you want to study for multiple hours on end, take him. Also many of the positive reviews look fake
Professor Qasmieh was fun to learn under. He cares a lot for his students and makes the lectures easy to understand and straight forward. You may not have have homework but you do have quizzes and tests you will need to study for which means lots of time will need to be dedicated to studying. If you need any help with the material he will help you!
Professor Qasmieh was a very fun professor that cares a lot about his students. I thought that his lectures were easy to follow and he hands out helpful resources that made it easier to study for quizzes and tests. Overall, I would definitely recommend him to another student.
Mr. Qasmieh is one of the most professional yet personable professors I have had. He is always willing to help as well as provide additional resources such as: Video lectures, handwritten notes, and practice problems. Mr. Q also stresses the difficulty of the course so do not take the content lightly. Overall, I highly recommend Mr. Q as a teacher.
Prof. Q's classes are the most challenging, but most fulfilling. A lot of content is covered in depth. Lectures are informative. Grades based on exams. Exams are difficult; timed & lengthy (
I already had an interest in biology but he helped me know for sure that it was what I wanted to study. There is no one tip for passing this class because each unit requires something different. Some of the units are all math, in which case do the practice problems, some are conceptual and some are memorizing. You will need to put in a lot of time
The material in the G drive was disorganized. The labs were super easy, and manageable. Only thing that was hard was the material itself. Do not study you fail. His lectures are heavy, and the tests are heavy. if you do not know the material inside and out like he says you fail. He never really helped me or went over any topic on quiz I got wrong.
I withdrew from Bio 110 6 weeks into the semester, at my own cost, out of frustration with the professor, Mr. Qasmieh. I am an above-average, eager student with an aspiration to work in physical therapy. His teaching style was unnecessarily more frustrating than any of my other classes at ECC. No textbook or structure, irresponsible. Stay away.
Professor Q is a good person, but I would HIGHLY not recommend him to anybody for his courses. He is very lecture heavy and there is no homework for this course meaning that your grade depend on quizzes and tests. His lectures are difficult to follow and at the end of the semester his class ends with less than 8 students.
In-depth lectures that make complex and difficult topics understandable and interesting. After the lecture , you will have full grasp on the topic. He always focuses on what is relevant and important and gives you hand-written notes for the lectures. He is always approachable and answer any questions.
Prof Q's lectures are engaging and insightful. While the material is challenging, the provided resources like video lectures and handwritten notes make studying easier. Consider using unstuckstudy AI alongside the textbook to prep for exams.
One of the worst teachers I've ever had you are on your own if u fall behind
As a person I love him. Great and interesting guy. As a professor he is Extremely Hard. Class started with about 25 students, the day of the final there were 6 of us.
While the course was difficult and packed with content. Professor Qasim was more than willing to go out of his way to help.
The class was full in the beginning but only had 10 students at the end. This tells you a lot about Q, his hard-to-follow teaching style, and his test-heavy class. He is very knowledgeable but has a horrible attitude. Expect to dedicate 10+ study hours weekly and still fail to comprehend test questions. Save yourself and do not take this class.
The course is difficult, but if you ask for help, the professor is more than willing to help you out. Use all resources given and do not slack off. This is an undoubtedly tough course but with the right dedication, you will pass.
Professor Qasmieh is straightforward, no bs, and a very funny guy! The way he teaches is generally easy to follow, and he often provides other materials (like previous online lectures) to help study. His class isn't easy by any means, but that's just because of the content. He tries to make students as successful as possible.
It's a difficult class but as long as you put in work then you should pass easily. Everything is straightforward and clear with grades/grading. All the lectures and notes are nicely organized and written. Everything is there for you to pass and the professor really cares so if you need extra help and reach out he will make time to help.
I genuinely loved this class, but I would say it's really a difficult class. Tests are usually scheduled on Wednesdays and some tests can be a little overwhelming since the quiz/test will be mostly coming from Monday lecture. Be sure to come in class prepared because Prof. Q sometimes gives bonus quizzes. Also, don't hesitate to come talk with him!
super funny and sweet professor. VERY accessible outside class, and he cares more about your grades than you do (in a good way). Def need to work for your grade. The class takes up a lot of your time, BUT def manageable. He doesn't make you feel stupid for asking questions and will always do his best to help you (even if it's not class-related).
He was a great professor I really clicked with him. Very easy to talk to and laid back personality. however, his class was very hard I was in his half online half in-person class. If you can I recommend his fully in-person. This is by no means is a relaxed class you must study or you will not pass.
He makes every question 5 steps longer than they need to be. You can study and understand all the content, but his questions will still be wordy, confusing, and lengthy. He lectures well, but when asked for clarification he gets loud and upset because, "It's not hard to understand" in his words. Save yourself. TAKE SOMEONE ELSE.
Professor Qasmieh is passionate, supportive, and truly cares about his students. He's knowledgeable, engaging, and pushes you to grow both in and out of class. The course is demanding and time-intensive, but absolutely worth it. You'll learn a lot. Highly recommend taking him!
The class is challenging, but the professor is clear about what's expected and what's on the tests. Lectures are easy to follow if you pay attention. He genuinely cares and helps students succeed. He's helped me a lot during this course. Highly recommend if you want to understand biology and are willing to put in the effort. Also super positive!
It's very disheartening to have a professor rave and relish about how many people fail his class, how many people drop, or he drops. It's very telling that by the end of the semester 2/3 of the class is gone. All these ratings don't feel accurate at all to what many people say on campus. Very unhelpful; he'll just say work harder. Zero guidance.
lectures are so rushed, his google drive is disorganized/missing notes, when asking him for help he just tells you to not waste your own time and study everything that was said in the lecture. Also he tells us countless stories of students "wasting" their own time and how he encouraged them to drop lol. He's a good guy but a rough teacher.
He can't teach.Prepare to study for hours alone based on some zoom recordings he gives.
I don't think the people complaining put in the effort to study for his exams and probably expect the professor to hand them an A for attendance. Ask questions if you don't understand concepts and listen to the zoom recordings. His exams are difficult but not impossible
4-5 star reviews are fake if you actually look at the dates. The professor is very rude, lectures and google drive is difficult to follow, this class is not like other BIO classes, like who starts off with organic chem as the first unit? Tests range from 30 minutes-2 hours. I recommend not taking his class even if it means graduating late
I really do not understand how this professor has a rating of 4. I wish someone would have warned me about his 80 + questions on his tests. He is ok at lecturing but everything he teaches in class has nothing to do with his tests. He is very disorganized on D2L. No clear grading criteria.
Remember, the people that do well in this class do so in SPITE of him. Not BECAUSE of him.
Absolutely the worst professor I've ever had. Extremely condescending and often acts in a manipulative manner towards students. His ego is through the roof. He unironically thinks that it's a good thing that biology professors have failed his class. No, that's a sign that your teaching and grading is horrible. ECC, pay his salary to someone better.
Hani Qasmieh is an excellent professor. Bio110 is definitely tough but completely doable if you stay disciplined. I was able to earn a 93% by studying consistently. He's very supportive and always readily available. Make sure to utilize office hours!!!! As long as you put in the time and effort EVERYDAY, you WILL succeed.
he is good person, available for the students over the phone, but definitely a tough grader and heavy lecture to follow. More time and effort is needed to gain at least a reasonable grade. lectures are 5-6 hr long, assignments are time consuming. online platform with which assignments are done are lagging or makes it extra difficult
If anyone needs to take Biology or never taken bio in high school i recommend Professor Qasmieh he's very caring and helps you and wants to teach his students. I've taken this class 3 times and he was the first professor who helped me took the patience and time to help me learn if you want to learn he's the one to go. If i can take him again i will
Took the class in the summer of 2019 and dropped out 2 weeks later. By far one of the worst professors I've had throughout my education. He said that if people his class, they're not worthy of becoming doctors. Very weird structure and too math heavy for a biology class. Took the class at another college and aced it. Avoid at all costs!!
Overall, a great professor, very in-depth with lecutre, answers questions well, and can communicate outside of class. He is very upfront about the requirements for this course; you need to be dedicated. If you are willing actually to try in a class, you will do great! Grades are based solely on quizzes and tests, some time extra credit was given.
Took the class twice, but barely passed the second time. It is really really really important you study twice at much and make time. Ask questions when needed. This class teaches a lot and can fall behind easily. If you think you can handle it, no you do not. The professor is very realistic and will not sugarcoat anything. He is not mean but honest
Never take his class! There is absolutely no support from him, except for constant emails and announcements saying that things will only get harder and that we won't be able to handle it. His tests are so confusing that they don't match the students' level of knowledge at all. A large number of lab assignments.
This professor has two pages on RMP for some reason so I'm reposting my review here. This professor asks students to write positive RMP reviews for him at the end of the semester. He also asks them for screenshots of the reviews when they are posted. Take that as you will.
