The first day he comes across abit harsh but he is an incredible teacher and the class becomes extremly fun. He is an excelent teacher who really knows what he is talking about and really cares about his students and their grades. also he has some really great stories
Try not to go to his class. He is not a good teacher.
Sitko is good. Great examples, funny stories and a nice person. I enjoyed his class. He made me not afraid to speak in public.
Excellent teacher. He comes across as a bit strict the first day, but he's a really awesome guy. I loved attending his class (he has the best stories), and he's super clear about what's going to be on his tests. He has really good pointers, and he knows his stuff. I would love taking another class with him again.
WORST teacher ever. He makes no effort to get to know his students. On the last day of the quarter, he still read my name like he had never seen it in his life, even though I attended every day. He was extremely condescending on kids if you missed even one day. Only take this class if you like arrogant teachers who make no effort.
DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER unless you want a HARD class that you probably will NOT get an A in. I missed more than one due date because the syllabus was wrong, and he didn't inform us. He is very impersonal and I DO NOT recommend taking him.
I like him. Getting a good grade. Don't be late with work there are penalties. He gives a lot of participation points id very helpful. Not difficult at all.
Mr. Sitko is one of the BEST teachers at BC. He cares about his students. I had him twice and got very good grades. His class is entertaining--he uses video clips. He always has time for his students. TAKE this guy you will NOT be disappointed.
Easily worst teacher I have ever encountered while at Bellevue College. Do not take this class. You will not get an opportunity to earn an A in this class because this teacher does not believe in giving an A to hard working students.
Professor Sitko takes his place as one of the best teachers I have ever had. He is a fair grader who makes his expectations clear and if you get a bad grade it's your own fault. Certain students would not abide by the expectations and therefore not receive the best grade. Make the effort and you will succeed.
If you enjoy lots of busy work; take this class. If you enjoy taking 2 quizes a week and difficult exams you will like this class. If you enjoy listening to a teacher talk about himself and not teach the class; I recommend this class. If you don't care about your GPA then I recommend this class and teacher. Warning.
TAKE HIS CLASS! Now that you know what you should do let me tell you why. First he teaches in a way that goes beyond education as we know it. What i mean by that is, he will teach and share with you will hold value for your entire life! He knows ppl in high places and will connect you with them. If you just do the work you will get a B like me!
Sitko is a lot of fun, great stories, gregarious, and does expect you to do the work. Remember, this is a communication class, if you're having trouble, just ask the man. He's eager to help. The class is challenging, and you'll learn a lot. Everyone that stuck with the class showed dramatic improvements at giving speaches.
TAKE HIS CLASS! just do your work and you will get a good grade. He teaches you things that will hold great value for the rest of your life. He has worked with CEO's, and if you show interest he will set up a meeting for you with them! He has helped me find what i want to do in the future, i cant stress how good of a person and teacher he is.
Just finished this class--AWESOME!!! He is so good. Great assignments, film clips. He gets the entire class participating. I will miss him and all my classmates--oh, we met at 8:30am!!!
Great class if you like quizes and hard exams. Great class if you like to read daily and do homework asignments daily. Great class if you like to listen to professor talk about himself and not teach the class anything. Great class if you do not care about your GPA. Great class if you like to waste money.
An amazing teacher. One of my favorites. But don't expect to get a grade you don't deserve. Study, do the work, enjoy his anecdotes, and listen well and you will do fine. He loves his subject, and knows it well. Its a really fun class.
Don't believe the other posts. Hank is a great teacher. If you look at his rating at the other school's he teaches at they agree with me. He wants you to be in class and there are a couple of quizzes, but overall he is one of the best teachers at Bellevue College. If you want a good comm class take Hank
GREAT! I loved this class. Negative comments are not justified. He treats his students fair and is one of BC's finest.
The class was wonderful the assignments were reasonable and the professor's eagerness to help made all the difference. He made this class so much fun with his anecdotes and good humor. One of the best professors I've had.
Hank Sitko honestly is the best teacher to have within this class. I would recommend anyone to take communications 230 with him because honestly it isn't that hard to get an A. He drops your three low score quizzes. Before the tests come up, he has an exam review where he reads actual questions from the test itself and that will give you an A!
Great Pfof. Learned a lot about Public Speaking. He takes the fear out of the class and makes it entertaining. A must-take professor.
Mr.Sitko has alot of (non-teaching) real world experience. (I'm just an avg guy with a part time job.) He is very approachable and tries to at least memorize your name. Overall the class wasn't what I had expected, but I had a good time and an awesome class. You will hit the ground running, your going to memorize alot of terms. Have the text book.
Awesome teacher! Class was fun and interesting! I really learned a lot!!!
Sitko is the best teacher, hands down! I went into this class skeptical, thinking it would be pretty dumb. Sitko will give you great life tips, keep you laughing, and make the class fun to be in. You won't regret his courses. I highly recommend taking his class!
I went into the class with fright and many too many ums and no confidence. I passed the class with confidence and no fear of an audience. Great class. Great teacher.
Sitko is very helpful. Stayed after class and helped with my speech outlines. He made public speaking an enjoyable experience, being from another country made me feel comfortable.
Loved this course. Very helpful guy. Awesome assignments that help take the fear out of public speaking. He is very funny. Enjoy the class.
It's ironic to me that this communications teacher was one of the worst communicators I've ever met. While he is certainly a fun personality, he was confusing on assignments and didn't grade according to his own rubrics. It was very difficult to communicate with him because he kept changing his mind. Not a very good teacher.
Although i received a B+ at the end of the course, i honestly took it because i knew some of the assignments i didn't turn in on time. That being said, he is one of my favorite professors, Very Entertaining, very helpful, will listen to you if your struggling with your grade and etc. Great TEACHER because you wanted to go to class everyday.
Really enjoyed coming to class each day. Learned a lot of stuff that I will use in my life and career. Nice guy.
Hilarious and awesome!
Awesome.
Great teacher. Great person. Must work to get an A but its a fun class where you will learn a lot.
Class was very difficult to get a good grade. I got an F on every quiz even though i studied. He is unclear about every assignment and is a terrible teacher.
Highly recommend! My favorite teacher I have had. Had him for a morning class which I usually don't like but he made me look forward to go to class everyday, he's hilarious! Used personal stories which related to the topic, if you don't need to take communications take it for the advice and lessons he will teach you for the rest of your life.
Hank Sitko is one of the better professors I've come to have. He is man that understands honesty and shouldn't be lied to. His class is full of information and stories portraying as to why the curriculum you are learning is good for what you will be doing in life and where it will be used. I 100% this teacher because if your struggling he'll help.
Amazing teacher!! His class is do-able...just do your work and you'll do fine. I did super bad on almost all the quizzes and ended with an A-. He's so funny and you'll enjoy the class.
Sitko is fair, humorous, and makes his class very interesting with real life experiences films and class discussion. You get your money's worth with this guy--you learn, laugh and he is remarkable.
Sitko is ironically not the best communicator for being a communications teacher. His quizzes had questions not related to the textbook and it was very difficult to sort out any questions about the class with him. The info in the class was interesting, but he seemed highly disorganized and didn't seem to take teaching the class seriously.
TAKE HIS CLASS! Mr. Sitko is a great teacher. He is willing to help and is very nice. The topics we learned were very interesting too!
I liked this class. The instructor has first hand experience working with boards of directors. Projects were excellent. I learned a lot.
Mr. Sitko is a gentleman and a humanitarian at the same time. He is very comprehensive and challenging with his assignments and readings, but he guides you every step of the way if need be. I liked his compassion, willingness to help and his kind demeanor. I need to improve my study skills and my experience with Mr. Stiko has started that process.
Very interesting teacher, I enjoyed every part of it and made my public speaking skills better. There is a lot to do so come prepared but its all worth it. He was easy to understand and really helped the international students when they were confused with words. Best teacher ever!
Sitko and I connected very well. All you have to do is show up for class and you'll be just fine. The quizzes are a little random, however there's so much extra credit it won't effect much. So far, one of my favorite professor's.
Mr. Sitko is an excellent teacher! He was thorough and made sure his students understood his lectures. He engaged his students in class activities and his lectures, but was not the type to single out any students if they didn't know the answer. I feel that I can take what I learned in class and apply it to everyday life. He is also hilarious!
He didn't give us the credits as promised!!! We did not receive (extra) credits for class work, which he promised. Instruction for homework is not clear and very strict on grading. He requested us to read the whole book by ourselves then do 11 quizzes. The questions of the quizzes are so confusing, as well as the teaching material.
Sitko is awesome! If you follow his syllabus, the class is fairly easy. Weekly class discussions and replies. The book is necessary to pass and reads are 20-30 pages to of easy reads. He will tell you stories in his class and the lectures are review of the chapter. The tests are not to bad if you read the book and take notes. You won't fall asleep!
Mr. Sitko is one of the coolest teacher's I've ever had in my life. He makes learning about communications so much fun, and I rarely find myself bored. He uses a lot of anecdotes to teach class, and they are hysterical. I took his class for both intro to communications and interpersonal and would recommend him to anyone looking to take either class
Introduction to Communication. Loved it. Assignments relative and practical. Learned a lot. It was a joy to come to class. Attend, do the work and you will do just great. Love you Sitko
Sitko is a BAUS. Take his class and work hard and you will learn ALOT
Awesome teacher. He is very nice, very funny, and very helpful. The class is pretty easy and there is a lot of extra credit. His stories are great and I would LOVE to take another one of his classes.
Great Teacher and one who is truly out for his students best interest. He provided clear instructions and rubrics that if followed you should receive an A. He gives out plenty of points for attendance, participation, and extra credit to help "soften" the blow from exams. He even wrote me an awesome recommendation letter that should help score a job
I took his hybrid class. The class is consisted of 2 individual speeches, 1 group project (including video taking & presentation), some assignments and about 10 online quizzes. The questions of quizzes were very unclear. You have to read the book to answer the question. However, he didn't teach you by using the textbook in class.
funny, but i would never take his any types of speaking class ever again
This class is by no means an easy A class but he gives you a test review with pretty much all the questions on the test and if you follow all of the instructions you'll pass all of your speeches. He does his best to make it as fun and enjoyable as possible; you will not only learn how to give speeches but you'll remember his keys to success.
I had Mr. Sitko for several courses. He is creative, dynamic and passionate about all aspects comm. He spends extra time with students during his office hours to make sure they are successful. Highly recommend. Do the work attend and you will do great.
He was funny, helpful, entertaining and encouraging; lots of personality. The class was very engaging. Fair grader and easy assignments.
He is a really tough grader and not very lenient if you mess up. His classes are fun so you dont want to miss them, he's a great guy but not a very good teacher.
He is a really cool guy.. but for teaching communication, sometimes I feel we are talking on different levels. No mercy if you mess up. You are going to want to make sure everything is in on time and that you read the grading rubric and directions throughly. His classes are very funny and keeps you entertained, but the tests are rough.
I came to class frighten of Public Speaking. Sitko has a way of making all of us feel comfortable. He is a confidence builder. I reviewed my first video then my last. Boy did I improve. Now I am looking for an audience. Thanks Sitko
Took this class to learn more about Communication. Great class. Teacher is motivated and entertaining. Do the work and do it on time. Got alot out of it. Would take another.
Best teacher ever, funny, very good interaction with students,. He will delight your class with real life examples and you will learn a lot. Go to class, read your book and you will find a pleasure taking his classes.
I was afraid to take the class. public speaking makes me nervous. sitko makes the class enjoyable with his sense of humor. his real life speaking experiences are awesome. he walked the walk. by the time I hot to my first speech I was less nervous. great assignments. take the class. he is the best.
Sitko is an awesome teacher! He's very interesting and approachable. Class is a good mix of guest speakers, lecture, and discussion. Didn't like the last group project but that was my group, nothing to do with Sitko.
Professor Sitko is a pretty good professor. He was friendly and engaging with the class while taking the time to make sure he got the lessons across. We had a very diverse class and he made sure that everyone felt respected and free to speak in class. Also, if you aren't doing well in his class, he'll tell you why, and then how you can fix it.
Best professor I've ever had! Very enthusiastic, engaging and knowledgeable. Uses his extensive life experiences to teach in a fun, practical manner. Always available during office hours. His professionalism, integrity, and personality make him a stand out professor. I highly recommend Mr. Sitko. Youll learn a lot more than the course material!
Professor Sitko is an excellent professor. He is exciting to listen to, and has great input on a wide variety of topics. He also does an excellent job of keeping his canvas page updated with proper material. If you plan on skipping class you will not succeed in this class, there are many in class assignments and participation can really help/hurt.
Amazing teacher. Has a lot of energy and is really quirky, he definitely knows how to make the class fun! Honestly, a pretty reasonable workload and the tests aren't bad either if you go to class and study for an hour or two.
Sitko is a professional teacher , he has a lot of life experiences which can bring fun in class. He cares about student , especially international student. He gives a lot of good feedback and encouragement. Get attendance and you will get a surprised at the end of the quarter. Follow the instruction very carefully so you don't lose any points.
The class is an easy A if you pay attention to the rubric on your speeches/assignments. The tests are taken at home, so just reading the chapters practically guarantees you an A. On every speech there's extra credit, and he grades them not too hard; most students receive a B/A. Warning: there's about 4-5 speeches with an 8-9 pg outline every speech
Great teacher. Only 2 speeches with long outlines, one with an average sized outline, and around 2 speeches that have none.
Class was great and a pleasure. He made any boring topics very entertaining and interesting. Got to watch videos. Definitely cared about his students. Requires paying attention to online due dates/ announcements and putting in work outside class. Assignments are thoughtful and entertaining. Definitely recommend coming to class and coming on time.
Hank's a great teacher, and he cares about his students. He has lots of experience and shares awesome stories. Class isn't hard if you just pay attention, follow the rubrics, and present your speech in the allotted time. (Usually a 2 minute gap)
Mr. Sitko has been my favorite professor so far this year! He is so easy to get along with and is very good at teaching. It's easy to get a good grade and retain a lot of the information. Super funny and a great person 10/10 recommend to anyone who needs to take a communications class:)
Solid choice if you want to learn about Communication. Instructor cares about students and gives good feedback. Rare use of textbook, though, for there are only three online exams all quarter. Make sure to show up to class, and quite a lot of extra credit is offered.
Good teacher but you got to work
Sitko is a good guy and a great teacher. My public speaking class was the BEST! I learned so much. He helped me with my outlines and is available for students. Make an appointment and he will help, he wants you to succeed. The class reduced my fear of public speaking and gave me a great deal of confidence. It will help me in my career path.
Took this class in spring and liked it There were lectures, films, assignments, the usual. What I really liked is Sitko would bring in guest lecturers. We had a Seattle based advertising agency, a public relations specialist and a journalist--they connect what we learned with the real world. I enjoyed it.
Hank Sitko is a great teacher and cares about the class. He does a good job of coming up with examples to help remember concepts in class. lots of online homework but they are all easy. There is 3 exams and those are easy too.
Mr. Sitko was one of the most inspirational professors I've seen. He cares about his students and grades extremely fairly. The amount of work put in for the class was very reasonable and I certainly did get a lot better at communication. I would take Mr. Sitko again without a doubt.
This instructor knows what he is teaching but he is strict with students. He was willing to work with me on my speeches if I needed help. But what I didn't like is how he took everybody's persuasive speech topics and read them out loud in front of the entire class. It's like he was judging us based on what topics we chose. Jeez...
Sitko is a one of a kind person. He does his best to make sure you succeed. He'll help you out if you ask. I loved the videos we watched. The class is easy but you will have to work for it. Lots of articles to go through. Also if you don't like group projects, don't take his class. Three exams as well.
Mr. Sitko is a very clear, fair teacher. His knowledge of the subject matter is fantastic. His speech requirements are very specific, but if you follow the rubric he is an exceptionaly fair grader. I learned so much and absolutley loved this class.
I was told to take Mr. Sitkos class. Im glad I did. Attendance is mandatory, but hes a very intelligent individual and youll learn a lot from him. There are 3 tests, group projects and definitely class participation. Make sure to do your reading. Hes honestly a great teacher if I need to take any other communications class, I would take him!
Mr. Sitko is a great teacher, you learn a lot from his class as well as utilize the material he taught to the utmost extent in a public setting. He is probably the only teacher that I have kept up with at Bellevue College after transferring to UW.
Great teacher that will help you on everything that he can.
Great class for students who want to build up their public speaking skills. He used lots of examples to explain the textbook's concepts.
He's very knowledgable and you will learn a lot from his class. His lectures were interesting and funny as well. Get ready to watch many video clips! Attendance is graded so make sure you show up to class.
Hank is a really fun and knowledgeable professor. Attendance is graded, but the class is really enjoyable and we end up watching hilarious videos. The class is really easy, however, do NOT underestimate the exams, and put full effort into studying for them.
Hes a very nice guy who finds new ways to teach his material. He has lots of lectures, but they tend to be interesting from his stories. Be prepared for lots of textbook reading though. He makes sure theres community in the classroom.
Prof. Sitko is one of those professors that you know truly care about one's learning. He can see past most of the B.S. many students try to pull time to time with apathetic learning and expects everyone's best effort in his class. On that hand, if you truly look to improve in communication skills like I was, taking Sitko's class was really helpful.
the teacher is really caring and hilarious and he make a bond with his students but he made a lot of homework and I feel like all of his homeworks are difficult.
Sitkogrades HARD. Lots of group work and presentations of course. The only thing I didn't like about him was that he can be forgetful and critiques you in front of the entire class. If you did bad, he will tell you to in front of everyone and tells you to start over. This did not help with my nervousness.
Hank Sitko wrote the book on speaking publicly! His lectures are always interesting and fresh with his hilarious stories and friendly demeanor. Students of all backgrounds left the class speaking like trained professionals with little issue. I still use his lessons today as I prepare for events! You will not regret taking this class with him!!!!!!!
Prof. Sitko's a fantastic lecturer and an entertaining personality. Has many connections within the communications industry he can utilize to enrich the lecture experience. Takes his and your work seriously and genuinely cares about the thoughts and opinions of his students. Keeps it light on homework, instead opting for more helpful in-class work.
He's a good enough Professor, as he keeps those willing to participate engaged enough. He's very specific on what he wants from you in terms of requirements, but not so much the subject matter for, say a paper. Overall his class was a pleasant experience, but his forgetful nature can get in the way sometimes. Overall, good class.
Hank Sitko is a really fun professor. His class was a lot of work, but it was really fun and I learned a lot.
I really enjoyed this class! Sitko is awesome, he has some really great stories and gives really helpful feedback. I learned and improved a lot. I was surprised by the amount of work required, however, it was not an unreasonable amount by any means.
Mr. Sitko helped me understand what I am capable of and with every speech I gave, I was able to perform better because of his suggestions and feedback. I feel proud of myself today and I am much more confident than I was 3 months back, this was possible because Mr. Sitko gave his honest feedback so as for us to improve and perform better everytime.
His class is really nice. He provides much help for our classmates. If you go to the class, and do everything he asks, you will easy to get A for this class.
He was a great teacher, really clear with expectations and easy to contact. He has powerpoints up but you'll get more info from the book. My class was a hybrid so quizzes were online. Only 2 big assignments and they're in groups which make it easier. He has a lot of experience in media and has great stories to share!
Do not take this prof... he's so rude, starts talking about random stuff, and gives out a ton of hw. Has literally made me hate communications. Avoid this class and prof at all costs
OK class. Easy A. Definitely wouldn't take again. Relies heavily on the textbook so it gets boring.
Rude and is not helpful when asking questions
Hes just mean. Not a good learning environment.
Professor Sitko was always personable and caring when it came to working with an personal issues outside the class. Lectures were engaging and topic relative. Quick to respond to emails and goes out of his way to make class enjoyable. Wish i could take his class again
He is super blunt and made a good portion of our class cry. He tried his best, but is the worst with accommodations. I changed my major due to him.
This professor was exceptional! Professor Sitko was extremely helpful with speeches and would often call outside of class to check on you to make sure you're prepared for your speech! Several different quizzes are very easy and the speeches were nice because you could pick your topics. If you show up, you will get an A.
I was nervous about taking a public speaking class, but this class was actually enjoyable! There were a few quizzes early on in the quarter, but they were easy as long as you watched the videos with them. I like that he let us choose our own topics for speeches and we even got extra credit if we chose one not on the list of example topics.
Sitko was one of my first professors at BC. He is the best. Genuinely enjoyed showing up to class and he made the class really fun. His life stories are great and with all the stories, he still manages to teach the class thoroughly. I learned a lot from him and I am definitely taking another class with him.
Professor Sitko rocks! Very charismatic and fun which is perfect for an online class. Make sure you have your cameras on, and you attend every class!! Plenty of opportunities for extra credit and great outlines that are easy to use to build your speeches. Considerate of students and always available to talk after class or outside of class time.
Hank is a great teacher. He improved my public speaking skills alot throughout the quarter. If you listen to his feedback and act on it, you will improve a lot at public speaking. There are a few speeches you have to do throughout the quarter, but if you practice them beforehand a few times, you will probably do very well. Professor Sitko is great!
He gives a lot of homework. If you are planning to take this class, I recommend you take with with class that has light work. He really strict at grading your assignments.
Wow! Sitko is the best and will help you to bring your A-game to public speaking! You will learn a great deal from his teachings. Fair with grades and good feedback. Bonus, he is considerate and genuinely cares about his students. The only knock I can say is his need to drop a Christian viewpoint here and there but in a sweet way (like a grandpa).
Hank is nothing shy of an excellent teacher. This is my second time taking a course with Hank, and it was just as great as the first time. Hank is caring, experienced, and down-right hilarious. His professionalism shines and really helped me become a better public speaker.
Best 2 long papers, this class is worth taking Mr Stiko is great
Hank's like the Grandpa you never had. LOL he's a real gem. Nice guy and he mainly grades on your effort and improvement. You can have great conversations with him and he's a real gentleman. But if you don't show up or don't prepare for your speech you won't do well obviously, it's still a class.
Hank Sitko is an amazing professor. Be sure to attend every class as attendance is mandatory and is graded. There are exams in this class so be sure to read the assigned chapters thoroughly and take notes!
Public speaking is a class many people dread, but I honestly loved being in Professor Sitko's class. He is caring and always sending feedback on how to improve in your speeches. I definitely improved a lot! The class moves fast, but you will be fine if you practice and put effort in speeches. There's plenty of opportunities for extra credit!
Professor Sitko is a really good professor. There are a lot of things where his class feels tough grading-wise, but overall he will almost always tell you where you could improve.
This class is fun if you enjoy communication and the media. There are lots of opportunities for extra credit. Certain times of the week there is more work than others, but it just depends on the time of the quarter. Mainly discussions and video quizzes. Make sure you follow the exact rubric to get credit, otherwise he'll take off points easily.
I second the person who said he's the grandpa you've never had. Dude is so funny and interesting; I would pay to just listen to him talk. He's had a crazy life and is super knowledgeable. The class is pretty heavy though, but I thought it was super interesting and I had fun the whole quarter. HIGHLY recommend!!!
He's a great teacher, bar none. The criticism that he gave me on my speeches really helped and from each recording, I saw great improvement in myself. Sitko's incredibly encouraging, and it's really given me the motivation to make myself better in many ways. If you get the chance to, I 100% recommend taking his class.
I enjoyed the content in this class! The workload depended on the week. He is a bit of a picky grader, but if you do all assignments and follow instructions, you will do well. It was mainly discussions in the beginning, and video quizzes throughout the quarter. He will provide feedback on most assignments, and get back to you in a timely manner.
Stiko is an amazing professor! Very funny and makes class very enjoyable. I really looked forward to this class every time. Takes the pressure out of public speaking and everyone in the class becomes very comfortable with each other. He really knows the subject. Practice your speeches and show up and you'll pass.
I really enjoy taking his class and it was my first quarter in Bellevue College but everything is organized and easy if you attend his class. There was 1 speech presentation, no final, and A LOT of extra credit. He is very chill and gives a great examples based on his own experiences. would definitely take him again!!
Easily the best professor I've had, class is very enjoyable and he creates a very welcoming environment and will often call on people in the class to answer a question or give their opinion. Overall great experience.
Decent, but could organize better. Assignments are not properly listed on the dashboard, and are reminders with no links - you must search through modules to find what you're looking for. Final project had three separate rubrics in different places, and involved creating an advertisement - offputting for a class with no relation to video editing.
He is a very knowledgable professor, but can be harsh. I had his class during what seemed to be a stressful time in his personal life, so this may not always be the case, but he can be somewhat intense with "rules" of public speaking if you take that class. He will teach you to look professional, but the methods can be stressful. LOTS of speeches.
Mr. Sitko made every class very entertaining by his short stories, I loved his humble and caring personality. Not super hard either, 2 major projects plus 10 min lectures each week. Would 100% recommend taking him and wish I could take another one of his classes!!
Good teacher overall. Make sure you know how to cite your quotes and remember to respond to pears (if you are taking him online). If you cite something wrong you can lose 6 points easy. Assignments twice a week. Exams (which are online quizzes) need lockdown browser but they are easy and there is only 2-3 of them.
this class was great, fun, and pleasant. carefully check Canvas because the first week I didn't realize there were assignments outside of class.
I LOVED SITKO!!!! He has the most interesting and engaging stories and so are his classes. Homework is easy and group projects are fun and engaging. He's the best! Highly recommend! Will be taking another class from him again!
Taken Sitko twice now. The truth is he's incredibly amazing in-person, and not great online. His in-person class was a blast, he's got a great personality and teaching style, but online all of that gets lost.
The class was so fun and just hearing about his life was kinda crazy
The good thing I have to say about Hank Sitko's course is that it's fairly easy- if you show up to class and do the coursework (which is fairly simple) you're pretty much guaranteed to pass. However, keep in mind that Hank Sitko can be, well, how do I say this, a bit out-of-pocket. Sometimes you can be placed in awkward situations.
Prof. Sitko is a great professor and helped my public speaking skills. His classes are 2 hours long and often get boring when its a lecture day. His workshops and in class assignments are fun. He shares funny stories all the time in class. He grades speeches based on delivery and not content. Hella chill but do the work.
I took Intro to Communications. Overall chill, but my rating is lower because Sitko WILL lower your grade if you miss more than two classes or if you don't do the assignments on time (non-negotiable). Also he is a pretty old guy so while he has a bunch of fun stories, there's definitely a lot of room for awkwardness and being called on the spot.
Do the assignments & show up to class on time, it's easy. A nice person but as a teacher he boring. Tells random stories; some fun, lectures r not engaging. In class activities r fun: u work with other students. Attendance/grading is strict: 2 excused absences even if ur sick & no redos (I turned in class, didn't know to type it, gave me a 0).
Sitko is a great and caring professor and I couldn't recommend him enough. The class was definitely a lot more work than I thought it would be, although the work itself isn't that hard. His life stories are incredible and you will enjoy this class a lot.
Sitko is a great professor. He often goes on tangents about people he knows, but uses it as a way to show real world examples. The class was 2 hours long but he kept his lectures interesting, and I never got bored during class. He is a strict grader but gives fantastic feedback that helped me learn and identify what needed to be fixed.
Professor Sitko's class is a fun ride. He keeps things engaging with his stories, though attendance and assignment deadlines are strict. unstuck AI's practice quizzes helped me stay on top of the material. Overall, a solid course if you're willing to put in the work.
This professor truly cares about not only your success but also about what he is teaching. He makes each lecture, subject and class, meaningful yet enjoyable to attend and listen. He is someone who cares about seeing you succeed as a student and will always push you to improve. I definitely recommend him and I will be taking more classes from him
Professor Sitko is an excellent and caring instructor who keeps everyone engaged. He provides helpful feedback and fosters a comfortable, confidence-building environment. His Public Speaking class was worthwhile, and I would gladly take it again to further improve my communication skills.
Public speaking. Great class and very engaging professor. Creates an environment for even the shyest person to be comfortable speaking in front of class by the end of the quarter. Learned a lot from this class.
I thought this course was really well done and has a lot of value to it! At first you will feel awkward. But everyone is feeling awkward. It will build a community between you and your peers. Professor Sitko is someone you can relate to on a learning level, but also a personal one. Not every professor can do one, let alone both. Highly recommend!
Since this was an online class, there wasn't a lot of interaction with the professor, but he was an easy grader and always gave great feedback. The class itself is interesting, and the assignments are also pretty easy. Highly recommend taking this professor.
