Reasonable, wise, helpful, and smart. I never thought I could learn so much in a single summer session. Definitely had a lot of fun during labs. There's a study guide for each test so use that to your full advantage. Reading is very important and your textbook will be your friend. But he even goes over the quickest way to read through the subject.
Nice guy, very helpful, and funny. Knows a lot about everything. Easy A if you go to class, study his study guide, and take notes. It will take time, though, to learn everything. If you don't study, you won't get an A. He wants to help you out, and gives extra credit if you try. Pretty cool.
FOLLOWS PP SLIDES & THE BOOK; HIS FAVORITE TERM IS 'GO HOME & STUDY (THE BOOK/GUIDE). I DID NOT 'LEARN' ANYTHING IN HIS CLASS B/C HE DID NOT 'TEACH'. EXAMS ARE VERY BROAD (3-4CH)BUT ONLY 50 ??'S. I WOULD *NOT* RECOMMEND HIM IF YOU HOPE TO LEARN-READ THE BOOK, DO THE LAB BOOK, YOU MAY PASS W/A 'B'
I did not agree with his teaching style. He is very boring and, unfortunately, microbiology is already a dry, stuffy subject as it is. His lectures did not engage my mind. To pass his class it comes down to simple terms: rote learning and memorization. However, for me, pages of memorization on the dry subject of bacteria is a killer.
For Dr. Park's summer 2010 class: He gives clear study guides, and is specific about what you need to know. He's funny sometimes, and very smart. (Has a law practice as well) You have to study and there's a lot of information, but if you treat the class like a job and work hard, an A shouldn't be too difficult. Helpful and reasonable.
He goes over definitions and basic terms in class and leaves it to his students to sort out all the information. If you follow the study guide, and do all the reading, You will get an A, but be prepared to teach yourself. HE DOESN'T TEACH.
He is extremely helpful, but the course itself is no joke. He gives study guide earlier so that student can prepare ahead of time. He is ready to answer questions in lab and in lecture. He teaches well to the understanding of students. Choose this class, but you need to do the work as it is not an easy class.
very approachable, can tell he loves the subject and teaching. Will go out of his way to help you. Good at relating material. Excellent teaching aides
Dr. Park is a friendly student oriented teacher. Lectures would benefit from more student preparation and class discussions. I got an A and spent many hours studying. He gives study guides that help you focus on what you need to know. Those were a huge help.
Dr Park is a good teacher, and clearly loves the subject of microbiology. He does expect his students to study, which I agree with! This is not a subject that can be learned by simply showing up to class, and does require individual effort by the student. Put in the effort and you'll do great in his class - he grades fairly!
Excellent professor!! Very helpful and willing to help students achieve the best grade as well as learning experience.
HE IS A GREAT PROFESSOR. CAN TEACH AND is funny as well. Although the material is hard, his powerpoint slides are really helpful as well as his STUDY GUIDES!!!!:) TAKE HIM.
Dr Park is a great teacher! He cares about his students and really helps them, he wants everyone to do well genuinely. I don't understand why some people said "He doesn't teach, so you will be teaching yourself"???Microbiology is not as an easy subject so yes you have to put time into it, you have to study! Dr Park DOES teach !!
I don't know why some ppl said he doesn't teach, maybe ppl who said this aren't science students at heart. Dr Park cares for all his students and is always explaining stuff in his lecture over and over to makesure his students understand! He's a great teacher, always will be.
Just bcuz ppl can't focus in class and don't pay attention bcuz they think micro is boring, that's their problem, don't blame the teacher cuz ur not a focused student. Dr. Park goes out of his way for his students to help them, you should be lucky to have him as a professor, take him if u are a good student and wants to genuinely do well. He's good
His multiple choice tests are not easy at all, but his study guide and powerpoints help alot. He clarifies things well and tries to teach HOW TO STUDY in any subject matter.
really wants to help students, very nice to see.
Dr. Park is a wonderful teacher. He clearly states what is expected and provides everything you will need to succeed. He makes class enjoyable and he is always willing to help if you are not understanding something. I highly recommend him for anyone who wants to actually have fun while learning!!!
Very helpful and interested in subject matter. Attendance very important.
The comments are frustrating to new students that want to take Dr. Parks class. Don't listen to those students that just show up in class but failed to do the work. Microbiology is not an easy class. Bless Dr. Part who is open to every students to clarify difficutlties in lab, leture and his office. He is great, ready to explain phrase by phrase.
Dr. Park is extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic! This was a very difficult class, but he definitely tried very hard to help anyone who asked. The tests were quite difficult, the study guides helped (but it DID NOT help just to memorize) He emphasizes understand the material. He cares about his students and wants them to do well.
MR. Park is Amazing he truly cares about his student, if you don't understand the material, make appointment with him he will takes the time and put the effort to make you understand. N despite the class being hard Do not give up. i promise you will learn so much from him and the end appreciate everythng.
really helpfull and caring
Dr. Park is the BEST biology professor at NOVA. He really wants his students to do well and goes out of his way to make sure they do. The material is not easy but if you study his notes, follow the study guide, and see him at office hours, you can get an A. The book is very helpful and lab is so much fun. He also gives Extra Credit, DO IT!
Dr. Park, is a great professor! I took his summer class, there was a lot to cover in 6 wks. He cares that his students learn & succeed. He's very compassionate w/ your needs/special issues. He loves what he does,is great at it & uses fun analogies to improve learning. I wish he taught all my classes. I highly recommend him. The VERY BEST professor!
Dr. Park is one of the greatest professors i have ever had at NOVA. He is passionate about students?' learning and is so helpful and patient with students especially in the lab. He gives study guide before each test and if you really study the study guide and listen to his lectures, "A" would be what you get in the end. I highly recommend him.
Dr Park is one of the greatest professors I have ever had, I loved his lectures. He's very patient with his students and ready to help at any time. Dr Park is very very kind, the kind of professor you would love to have specially with a very difficult class like Bio 205. I highly recommend him.
Excellent professor! Very Clear,Helpful,Intelligent, and Enjoyable.
worth taking this class with dr. park. i like how he adds humor to class. it really makes learning interesting. attendance is mandatory. tests are somewhat tricky though. i love dr. park. go take him. you won't regret it.
Dr. Park was an excellent professor! He made the tests extremely easy by making sure he highlighted only specific information that would be on the exams and final. I would highly highly recommend him!
HIGHLY, HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend taking Prof. Park if you need/want to take microbiology! 4 exams total including the final, a lab report, and lab exam. All very easy if you just study the study guides and take note of what's on the exam during lectures. Recommend going to class because Prof. Park basically tells you what's going to be on the exam.
Dr. Park also provides useful "studying tips" and academic advices throughout the semester. He teaches you the best way to prepare for exams and shares any tips he has about memorizing concepts. He truly cares about his students and will meet with you one on one if you need any help at all. Best prof. at NVCC! Sign up now, class gets full fast!
Take Dr. Park, he's a very nice, helpful and straight forward teacher. Microbiology is a hard class to begin with so taking this class requires more time to study. There are 4 tests just like what they said. The tests are hard, if you did not study at all. He gives study guides so you MUST study it. Also, make sure u don't miss class! good luck!
Take this class!!! Dr park is one of the best professors I have ever had. He cares about you and that you learn. He makes class interesting. He has good notes and study guides. Excellent teacher!!!
God Bless Dr Park. He is one of the nicest professor I've ever had. He is funny too. It is obvious that he loves teaching because he cares about student's learning even outside of his class.
Dr. Park is an amazing teacher. He cares very much about his students, and wants them to do well both in his class and beyond his class. He is clear about what is on his exams, and he is very lenient with lab grades. He is very approachable, so don't be afraid to ask questions. Go to class and study the study guide to do well.
Microbiology is a hard subject and it needs more time to study, I took it in summer and it was hard, but Dr.Park made it possible to pass the class. I like his jokes related to specific topic we were learning, it makes not to forget things easily. so wonderful teacher??
I took Mictobiology over the summer for 6 weeks. That is really what made it hard. However, I wouldn't have asked for a better professor. Prof. Park WANTS to help and is so passionate. I didn't use the book but thankfully his powerpoints and lectures were really helpful as long as you COME to CLASS! Great teacher.
Dr. Park is one of best teachers I have ever had. His lectures are organized and he makes them interesting too. His expectations are clear and fair and he is always available for extra help. He is incredibly knowledgeable and really wants his students to do well in his class. If you have the chance to take his class, definitely do it!
Dr Park was the best microbiology professor I've had in college. The course is hard but if you study the power point, read the text book and ask him questions to clarify you can get an A in the class. But you do have to study since some of the multiple choices questions are tricky but in a good way (as long as you studied you'll get it right).
I loved this professor! BEST MICRO teacher! I took 205 with professor park during Fall 2012 semester. One of the reasons why I respect him so much is cause he actually teaches you HOW to study the material. He has such passion for the material and he genuinely wants to teach this to his students. He provides a very helpful Study guide. He was great
He is very straight forward. Listen to him and study the material he teaches you. Truly one of the best teachers ever :)
Dr. Park was a great professor! I took his class while working full time and he made the material manageable, easy to understand, and interesting. He truly wants all of his students to do well and it comes across in his teaching. I would highly recommend him!
Wonderful instructor...highly recommended! His lectures are detailed and interesting, and what he lectures about very nicely correlates with the material in the textbook. Just keeping up with the reading and studying notes will earn you an A. :)
He is the best teacher at NOVA. I used to hate biology, he made it really interesting for me. I wish he was teaching all science classes.
One of the greatest professor I have ever had. He made the subject really easy to understand.
Dr Park is just AWESOOOOOOOOME ... He truly cares for the students. He is always on time and very organize. I love his sense of humor and how friendly he is with his students. If you are taking his class, try to understand the material and not just memorizing it. Study guides are very helpful. He is one of the BEST...
Lecture: Hardworking, friendly, generallyinterested in class materials,VERY organized lectures andstudyguides. Expects students to memorize and holistically understand explicitly pin pointed material from pp slides.Study from given guides and only use text for clarification of ambiguous points.Overall, not as in depth as expected, easy A.
Dr. Park is one of best teachers I I,ve had. His lectures are well organized and he makes them interesting . His expectations are clear and fair and he is always available to guide you threw . He is knowledgeable and really wants his students to do well in his class. I wouldrecommend him to anyone
I came from the poorest high school. My background in science and math is not that much. But Dr. Park helped me understand biology easy way to study. He really cares for any students not only the A ones. His motivation is great.I wish I had him in high school. It is hard to compete with students who came from good school. But Dr. Park made it easy.
One of the best teachers I've ever had. Made the trip to school (two buses and a train in the winter) worth it. Told us exactly what to study, was always clear, answered questions as many times as I needed, and cared about my grade, would give us participation points to help our grade be higher if needed (a 78 could be bumped to an 80). Great guy!
He's an amazing professor. I enjoyed his class b/c of the unique way he teaches Microbiology. he makes topics that may seem abstract, very perceptible. He very well conveys his excitement about the material & connects topics to real life experiences, making them easy to understand & remember. I wish all teachers were this passionate about their job
I really enjoyed this course and Dr. Park is a very enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the material. going to class made it so that I never even had to crack my textbook. I would definitely recommend this professor. He spends too much time giving study tips, but if you are poor student he will work hard to make sure that you don't fail!
I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Hankyel Park. He took an interest in every single student in the class and would not just present the information but would actually teach you how to learn it. If you Google his name you will see a whole list of achievements. For him to teach at NVCC shows how much he really cares. Best. Professor. Ever.
Dr. Park is a great professor. He is there to help us succeed and even when you are struggling, he makes sure he is doing his best to help you pass. For lectures, he clearly explains what he wants you to learn so just pay attention to what he is saying. If you attend every class, take notes, listen, and enjoy the class, you will be fine.
Dr. Park is an all-around amazing person. I really appreciated his sense of humor and amusing tangents. Very clear and helpful teacher. No surprises when it comes to what you will be tested on. I imagine Microbiology could potentially get very difficult with the wrong teacher. Take it with him and enjoy your semester.
He makes jokes in lecture to help remember but if the information is not committed to memory immediatly after he says it he wonders why you are not listening
He is the best teacher I've had in a long time. I would totally take another class with him. He takes the time to explain everything until you understand it and learn it. He has all the patience in the world. If you want to get an A in microbiology, take his class. It's not easy, but if you show up to class and read your material you'll have an A.
Dr. Park is clear and concise in his lectures and is more than willing to help if you need it. Definitely take him for micro if given the opportunity.
Dr. Park is one of the best professors I've taken at NOVA. He takes the time to really explain the information to you. Tells jokes and different ways of remembering the information that's being taught. He is very understanding and will try his best to accommodate and help you out. Definitely take him!
Dr. Park provides students with every chance to succeed in the form of mnemonic devices, study guides before exams, diagrams, and ample availability. Material can be challenging at times, but Dr. Park will help you through it if you let him. Simply put, if you commit to getting an A, there's no reason you won't get it.
He's extremely nice and knows when you put in hard work. In the end of the semester I was very close to a B, I sent him an email and he told me that he knew I worked hard and would give me a B. I was only 0.7 percent, but still I know a lot of professors who wouldn't do that. Take him!
He practically treated the student's like his children and was very respectful. I received an A by reviewing the ppt's and studying from the study guide that he provided. Lab is fun and easy; lectures go by fast. He is such a sweet professor, highly recommended!
this prof is very easy to get an A. His study guide is 99.9% like the exam. You don't need to take notes in class. Just study the study guide and study 2-3 days. you will get an A. Very easy prof in NOVA.
I took his class solely based off the reviews on this website and it was a mistake. He is a nice guy but his class is only based on tests and a lab report which makes it hard to succeed. He spent more than half the semester teaching us how to study rather than teaching the class and most of us already had degrees. I wouldn't recommend him.
Professor Park really cares about each individual and encourages those who aren't doing well to approach him during office hours. He does emphasize on learning techniques (mentioned in the review below), however that was aimed toward students who weren't doing well. To succeed, know the study guide topics well -every lecture note. DON'T gloss over.
Dr. Park is very friendly and patient. He treats his students like his children. He really cares about their achievement. I like his teaching styles. He is well-prepared and makes all his lectures easy to understand. He makes his class interesting and it is pleasant to attend his class. I have learned a lot from him. I am very grateful for him.
IF YOU ARE STILL HESITATE ABOUT TAKING DR. PARK'S CLASS, I THINK YOU SHOULDN'T ANYMORE. Throughout all the comments, I think this is the best choice for my Science major to register in his class. I had BIO206 before, and it was much harder. I wasn't a Biology person, however, after taking Dr. Park's class, I think I love Biology more.
Dr. Park's class was great. He reviewed the important points of each chapter. IF YOU WANT AN A, GO TO CLASS. Very helpful with questions. Read the chapters and do the study guide and you'll be fine. Gives good tips on studying, respectful, and understanding.
If you go to class and review your notes you can easily do well in this course. Prof. Park provides study guides that have everything on the exam, so as long as you go to lectures and review the study guides you'll do fine. He wants you to succeed, so take advantage of tips and tricks he regularly shares.
Professor Park is a great professor. The course is not easy one but he made it simple and easy for students. He is very caring; he wants to make sure everyone gets a very good grade in the end. He is hilarious and understand students. I will definitely take his class. If you don't wanna stress yourself, take his class.
Parks comical (think of Devs dad n MasterOfNone). Lectures goin over ppts. Dont get txtbook. 4 tests (mult choice/fillnblank) come from study guide (made from ppt). Says u need to bring paper 2 take notes on but not to bring pencils. Reminds class that theres a test and we arent paying attention. Study at home? YEAH RITE!!! Hes something.
Park does the minimum n lab. Manual's a waste of money. Use google/utube 2 learn how 2 do procedures and know what the test's looking 4 (I liked bioprofaz). Notebook's not required but helps w/ organization/making report. 1 lab exam from study guide (basic info/pics). 1 lab reportinstructions given orally--ez to complete w/ charts. Less is better.
He is a good man but sometimes he picks on black foreigners and shout on them. I happened to be one of his victims. He never picked on any of the Americans. Bias . Too much advice on how to study. No dropping of lower test scored. we can't come to school if we don't know how to learn. Please, give us a break!
He's a man with a kind heart. However, not a great teacher. Spends more time teaching you how to study than teaching the material. He scolds you for not knowing the answer and for not studying correctly, and doesn't go over the answer. Disorganized schedule and wrong textbook editions given. Non-inspirational, first professor to make me hate bio.
your grade only depend on 4 exam. no extra credit no chance to improve your grade. if you cant do good on any one of the exam you will not be able to get better than C. skips alllooot of material.
Four big tests. 30 Mcqs, 10 fill in the blanks for 100 marks. its very easy to drop your percentage but very hard to improve in his class no extra credit. He doesn't do anything in the lab you all by yourself and lab exam. you wouldn't be able to learn anything in his class.
worst prof. I ever have for any science class. not helpful at all.
I loved having Dr. Park as my professor. He is very clear on material for the exams and for the lab report and gives excellent exam reviews during the class periods. It's your own fault if you get less than an A in this class. I would highly recommend this professor.
This course is content heavy, which can make for long lectures; however, Dr. Park is invested in his students long-term success and makes every effort to help the class understand and focus on the material they will be tested on. I found him to be very kind, approachable, and responsive to e-mails. I learned a great deal and would recommend him.
I highly recommend Dr. Park. I took General Microbio with him and was very pleased with the course. Dr. Park makes class interesting - a very entertaining professor! He makes study guides that includes what material will be on exams and goes over them in class. Several extra credits options. If you need help, he is available.
He was really irritated when I'd ask questions during lecture that could not be answered by the information on the slides. After a few classes like this, he actually started making snide remarks to/about me while teaching class. When I'd make a mistake in lab, he'd bring other students over to show an example of what not to do. I was miserable.
Dr. Park was an amazing professor! Not only was he super helpful and explained himself in detail, he told us we didn't need the textbook for class. I actually used the textbook for the first test, and that was my lowest test score. Afterwards, I just relied on his presentations. I really appreciated Dr. Park and his enthusiasm for Microbio.
Dr. Park is an amazing professor! He gives you study guides to help you know what to focus more on during lectures, and he goes over them in class. Also, the way he teaches is very interesting, and he does all he can so that you can better understand all the points. He really loves microbiology and is invested in his students long-term success.
Dr. Park was an awesome professor! Due to COVID we were online and he had the class structured in the best possible way it could be. He was very straightforward with what needed to be done in order to succeed, and was overly willing to help in any way possible.
Dr. Park was an awesome teacher. If you attending lecture, then youd know he tries to make microbiology fun. He always responds to your emails or questions. He even tells you what to do at the start of his course in order to get an A. If you follow his guidance, an A in the course is definitely attainable.
Dr. Park wants his students to be successful. If you carefully listen to his lectures & study them an average amount, you will do great on exams. He also makes himself easily accessible if you have any questions on the material & gives advice on various studying methods that may help you. You don't need the textbook, just rely on his ppts.
I took BIO 205 online due to COVID. It was unfortunate since Dr. Park was a really engaging lecturer; I would have enjoyed the lectures more if they were in person. The only assignments in the class are tests and lab report, but all were very reasonable and graded fairly. Just make sure to memorize the vocabulary. He is willing to help if you ask.
Dr. Park wants his students to be successful. Not only did the take the time to have review days before exams but he also gave us advice on how to study. He was very receptive to all questions asked in class and reviewed the material multiple times to assure our understanding. I definitely recommend taking a class with him!
Dr. Park is an amazing professor. It's hard to find science professors who actually care for students to engage and help students actively understand concepts and Dr. Park does that. He helps give tips on how to study better not only for his exams but in general too. Microbio is definitely a dense subject, but it is completely doable with Dr. Park!
Professor Park is the greatest micro professor you will find. Take notes and follow your study guide you will get an A. great sense of humor. He normally comes early, so if you need help understanding something reach out. You wont regret taking him.
Dr. Park is the first science professor who attempts to make a personal connection with each and one of his students within a big classroom setting. His exams are not too difficult as long as you are listening to the things that he goes over in lecture because he can be quite specific and very helpful. He really does have the best intent.
Professor Hankyel is by far the greatest college professor I have had. I learned how to truly study for an exam with him. He gives great tips on how to study, so if you miss his classes you wont do great. Every class has great information to understand the lesson and exam.
Dr. Park is a fantastic professor who wants his students to succeed and understand the material. He also adds some humor to his lectures to keep you entertained. If you study the study guide he makes for each test you should have no problem getting an A.
Dr. Park was a great professor. He was very passionate about the course material which made every lecture very interesting. The best part of the class was that Dr. Park truly cared about his students and wanted us to do well, he was very approachable and made it easy to ask questions in class. I would definitely recommend taking this course!
Took microbiology online with Dr. Park due to COVID. Was impressed with how much he got to know his students through the computer. This definitely made the class more enjoyable overall. He also is very clear on class expectations and if you attend his lectures and use his study guides for exams you will do well in the class. Did not use the text.
Dr. Park was an incredible professor! He is extremely caring, kind, and hilarious. He makes a difficult course like microbiology, into something manageable and easily understood. If you ever need help, he is there to assist you. I would definitely take him again and cannot recommend him enough!
A truly great professor who cares about his students understanding the material. He goes through the lecture, emphasizing the material that is of most importance. Dr. Park clearly has a passion for the subject and wants everyone to do well. Pay attention in lecture and supplement with the textbook and lecture notes and you will do great!
Dr. Park is seriously one of the best professors I have ever had! He truly cares about his students and does all he can for you to excel in his class. There are no surprises on his exams, everything is very straight forward. He'll go above and beyond to further explain concepts for your own understanding. He's funny too so that is always a plus!
I took Dr. Park's class over the summer (covid...) and I absolutely loved it. He made sure that with the lab we truly felt like we were able to "do" everything that the in person class was doing. He made the tests very fair and, although it was a lot of content, was very helpful and made you feel prepared. He went above and beyond every class!!
Dr. Park is the greatest professor I ever had. He cares about his students and makes learning easy and fun even for difficult concepts. I took this course when it shifted midway to online because of COVID, but he would show up 2 hr early before every class to help anyone and on zoom. He gives many hints on how to remember material for the exam.
He calls it an easy A class but it really isn't. His power points don't really prepare you well for his tests. Have to do a lot of outside research to find material that is easy to understand.
This class is not an easy A if you were looking for an easy A class. Your grade are based on 5 tests and one project. There are no hw grade or such. It is very lecture heavy so go to class and pay attention. He is funny and is a good professor in my opinion. If you need help, just contact him and he'll help you.
This mans is pretty bad. He only gives 5 exams and thats it, so no hw or quizes. Its requires daily studying on notes and outside sources since there's no hw. PowerPoints are scattered and vague. He explain things poorly. He doesn't do questions well. He's rude to students who ask questions. He rambles on ways to study. The material is cool tho.
Professor Hankyel is a character for sure. However, I learned so much from him. He made sense of concepts that I'd struggled with for years. He wants students to really understand the material and. I recommend him to those that enjoy science. If not, totally fine, but I'd go with another professor.
Dr. Park is awesome! He really wants you to succeed and gives you great advice at the beginning of the class on how to do well. He will tell you the important things to know for exams. Pay attention, study for exams using his study guides, show up to class and lab and you can get an A, no problem.
Prof. Park has a great teaching style. Tips on how to study were given and he kept class interesting with many analogies that helped us remember the information he was teaching. Many students as well as myself dropped due to pressure of test scores. A few more "bonus" points on exams than 1-2 points would have helped as the 1-2 are not enough!
Professor is really helpful when you are confused in class. Be sure to let him know and he will for sure help you. He is very sweet and funny almost every class he makes a joke. I would suggest reviewing over the power-points in advance to prepare for lecture and for upcoming tests. Overall great Professor!
Dr Park is awesome. He truly wants everyone to succeed and goes out of his way to help people succeed. His tests are pretty easy as long as you pay attention in class and follow his study guides. Usually offers extra credit on tests and there will be a lab report at the end of the semester worth a lot of EC. Textbook is def not needed.
Reading his reviews made me unsure of whether I should take him for BIO 150 or not. Now that I am done with this course, I am extremely glad that I took him! He truly cares about his students and want them to succeed. The course is exam heavy because there is no homework given.
I studied the weekend before the tests while taking 5 classes and having 2 kids and still got an A. He goes over lab exam questions- write them and study, you will def get an easy A on those. He also has study guides for lecture exams and his exams are based on those. Most importantly, have faith and trust God and prayer will get you through.
I struggled in this class, I did and tried my best, but his exams were very heavy on grading. He however did a great job on his lectures. He used real life examples and made sure that all students understood what he was teaching. Very understanding and overall, a funny and caring professor. Before exams he would go over what to expect on them.
Best professors I have taken. Although, his lecture exams could be difficult, I believe if you study and put in the work you will receive a passing grade. His lab exams are extremely easy. If you honestly do terrible on this course is because you did not make the effort. I truly enjoyed his class; you will never have a dull moment with him.
Professor Park is amazing, he genuinely cares about his students and wants everyone to succeed. He uses real life examples to make it easy for students to understand. If you have a hard time with the class, he does reviews. Lecturetests are though, but if you study hard you'll get a good grade. Lab exams are super easy. really loved this class :)
Best and kindest professor I ever had!
Dr. Park is probably the best/easiest professor I have had in a while! I took the 6 week summer session and the grades were based on 4 lecture exams, 2 lab practical exams, and an oral presentation. He posts exam study guides and as long as you follow them, the exams are easy. There is also an optional lab report worth a lot of extra credit points.
He was nice but I guess his teaching skills is not for me.
He is a nice proffesor, he cares for the students. you have to ask ques anytime on office hours if u dont understand the lec, because sometimes his explanation is vague. But, if we are talking about to make good grades this gonna be a problem, have no HW or extra to boost up your grades. Basically the grades matter on your 5 exams.
Dr. Park is the best, he loves teaching and his students. Attendance is not strict, but lectures are fun and short. He provides clear study guides and exam reviews, he makes sure students are well prepared. Come early for his study sessions and you will get an A:)
One of the best professor at Nova. He is so caring, his lectures are amazing. The class was enjoyable and we all had a great time. He gave a lot of extra credit as well. His labs are so easy, and he provides study guides too. If you study the study guide, you will get an A plus. He is always there to help everyone. I wish i could take him again.
Best Professor so far! He is extremely knowledgeable, and he clearly cares about the students. His lectures aren't too long, and the tests aren't too difficult; they're based on the slides he shows. Even though he rarely assigns homework, he gives students numerous opportunities to improve their grades. Tip: Go to the study groups before class!
Dr. Park is the best professor I had at NVCC. BIO150 is a tough subject, but he made it digestible and easy to understand. He also carves out time to help students outside of class. Most of the grade is made up of exams, but they were straightforward as long as you listened in class and took notes. You won't regret signing up for Dr. Park's class.
Dr. Park is extraordinary knowledgeable instructor. He's teaching style is unique, and he makes the classroom experience unforgetable. He will be teaching the BIO 205 this Fall, which is just a better version of the BIO 150. I wish I knew this before because I would rather had 205 instead of 150. He is also hillarious!
Dr. Park is the best professor I had at NOVA. He gets to know his students, is hilarious and wants you to learn! He is willing to help and very understanding if you are struggling. He gives study guides for lecture and lab exams. There were 3 lecture exams, 2 lab exams, 1 presentation, extra credit and a lab report (optional) and the Final exam
A genius teacher! He has a very special talent for explaining difficult and complex science concepts in the most simplest and easiest ways. He offers many extra credits. His lecture and lab is very fun to attend. He always puts students first! He is always available for the students. Anyone can get an "A" in his class!
He focuses more on joking around than actually teaching. During lectures, he mostly reads from the PowerPoints and when he does explain, it's very brief. When you ask him for clarification on something, he'll usually tell you to read the textbook/PowerPoint or tell you that he won't re-lecture. Be careful about sharing personal things with him too
He calls it an easy-A class - it's anything but that. You often have to teach yourself because he doesn't really explain things in lecture. He tells you to ask questions but if you don't ask the "right" ones or you ask too many, he makes you feel bad for asking them. Your grade really depends on how well you do on his exams
Professor Park is incredibly knowledgeable and makes the class engaging. While exams are the main focus, his study guides and optional resources like Unstuck AI help students succeed. Attend lectures and office hours for the best experience.
Professor Park is a sweet guy but he has room for improvement as a professor. His lecture exams are tough and he rarely goes into detail during lecture, but he expects you to know a lot of details on the exam. He can also be a little insensitive and dismissive at times but if you let him know you're struggling, he'll try to help
Prof. Park is a mostly nice old guy but rambles sometimes and is a bit too jokey; tends to be dismissive. His explanations are a little vague at times, and the simple metaphors aren't helpful. Thank God he's patient and helpful in the labs, which tend to be a little messy and kind of exasperating though not hard.
This is probably one of my favorite professors at NOVA. He really cares about his students and does his best to show it. Tries to make the class as fun as he can through jokes and other forms. Majority of your grade is from lecture exams 1-4 and lab exams 1-2. I'd recommend any student to take this professor you need to take BIO 150/205 for credit.
He doesn't give extra credit on exams because it has harmed students in the past. How could you possibly structure extra credit in a way that would hurt your students' grade? Makes no sense. He emphasizes always ask questions, but when someone does, he accuses them of asking so many questions in hopes that it will delay our exam date? HUH? Avoid
His teaching style is not for me. He tells us to ask questions, but ignored me when I spoke up in class. He thinks his jokes and metaphors are helpful, but they honestly confuse me even more.
