she is soooo amazing. wonderful teacher and makes class fun...very helpful and such a sweet heart! love love love that class and so easy to do go....also you dont do that much work!
Hannah is really helpful and sweet. She would let you email papers early so she could look over them and help you get on the right track. You can't just do papers and nothing else, though. You have [easy] quizzes on what you read in the book almost every class. She couldn't be nicer or more helpful.
Ms. Abrams is such a great teacher. She is very understanding and she doesn't mind helping you out if you have a question. She's very laid back. You can get an A as long as you put work into it and read the short stories that are assigned for every class. She gives extra credit for going to the writing center before your paper is due, which helps.
The greatest professor ever, she was always joking around no matter what mood she was in. Really funny and always made class interesting. Jus.t speak during class and joke with her
Great since of humor.
I absolutely LOVED her class. Everyone should get the chance to take one of her classes at least once. She's very helpful, great sense of humor, just fantatastic!
Very very easy and cancels class a LOT. Very nice lady and an easy A.
Not too hard. Have to go to class most of the time, but she will let you out early sometimes and wont hold class all the time. A couple papers, no tests or quizzes. Fairly easy class, helpful teacher, definitely take it.
my favorite!!
Kinda a hard class becuase shes a genius and alot of its over my head, but it doesn't matter because she is too funny and HOTT!!!!
Hannah is a beautiful teacher! Although UNI is a class that I feel is absolutely pointless, Hannah had many ways to help. She cares a lot about people. I recommend her (although I dont know how she is in English). DONT BE LATE...DONT BE ABSENT. and you will be fine.
She is so nice and always willing to help. She doesnt grade papers very harshly. Participate in her class and read the stories and you should be fine. She isnt very good at answering emailed questions so its better if you see her during office hours. Go to class and read and its an easy class.
OMG BEST TEACHER EVERRRRR, TAKE HER IF YOU CAN
Nice teacher. Rarely has class. This is nice except I had her at 8 am and I would come to class and she would just leave a note saying no class or sometimes not even show up. Easy grader. Easy A.
Really smart teacher, she was very funny at times which help keep my attention in class. Always willing to help when needed.
My favorite teacher at UNCW!!!
Sweet teacher. Pretty darn cute too.
I love her. She is a great teacher. She grades essays very easy and her class is pretty much just a discussion of what you read the night before. She does not assign a lot of homework.. probably 7 pages or less a night. She's so sweet and such a cutie!
she is a amazing teacher, almost becomes more of a friend than a teacher. her classes are very interesting i actually look forward to her class. favorite teacher i have had in a long time
Boring and useless. Its freshman seminar so she can only do so much. Pretty easy to get an A. She will take off points if you miss 4 or more classes so you have to attened. Not much outside of class though.
Way too Liberal....all we talk about is gay rights
Awful. Never helped outside of class. All class you talk about your journals and on the aide she assigns paper with no instructions/help. Hates athletes.
I hate her class. You don't learn anything, so it feels like a waste of time. She really talks things to death. In papers all she talks about is style. Nice person, but not a good teacher.
Easy class. All we did in class was write journals and discuss them every single day, which got boring. I hated going to class because it wasn't that interesting. Also wrote 4 papers analyzing reading and a presentation
She is so sweet. And always willing to help. You have to read short stories and write journals every night. She makes the class fun and easy!
She is a great teacher. We always read different essays in the textbook (before class) and then discuss the essay's content and the various essay styles. We also have 4 papers for the semester which are not too bad although she is a tough grader. She has a sense of humor and is a very sweet lady. Take her class!
The class itself was not that interesting. We had a couple papers and a few quizzes on the reading and a presentation. She gave many opportunities for extra credit. Overall, pretty straightforward class and not very hard
Her class wasn't that interesting. The class is discussion based and she counts your grade toward your participation. An oral presentation is required. Attendance is mandatory. She gives a lot of opportunities for extra credit, but only lets you do three to bump up your grade.
i don't know, i liked her class a lot. the material was hard, but she was really funny and made it interesting. also, she's really nice and there to help you.
My favorite professor this semester! Don't get me wrong, she does expect you to apply yourself and keep track of your own business but the discussions we had in class were fantastic. She is HILARIOUS! (She also has the coolest outfits)
I loved her! She's such a fantastic professor and so adorable. You do have to do quite a bit of work, but it's worth it.
She is absolutely the most adorable prof. EVER! Her class is not the easiest lit class, what with a presentation and 4 papers, but it's absolutely manageable. She grades hard, but I am assuming by college, most people have learned to write? I would totally recommend her class, I love the class discussions! She has the best sense of humor
She is a great teacher and really cares about the material. She helped me to realize my love of English. Sometimes she can be kind of spacey though. So if you ask a question, you may need to ask a few times and track her down in person before you get a straight answer.
Best prof here!!
i think she's excellent prof! so sweet. she is hard, but always there to help adn will work with you to make sure you do well.
Great teacher! I really enjoyed learning from her. She's passionate and has a good sense of humor. Takes participation into consideration greatly but getting involved is fairly easy and definitely enjoyable.
Ms. Abrams is so sweet and so helpful. If you do the readings and attend class like you should, there is no question that you'll be able to get at least an A. She may be challenging when it comes to grading, but this is college isn't it?
very nice woman. shes being good enough to let me scrape up extra credit to pass her class (i had a 94, but missed too many days because i had mono) you have to go to class, and you have to read. shes a little sow returning papers (and they make up bassically your whole grade)
She starts the semester saying she'll be very hard as a teacher, but it's not true. She's very nice and really enjoys what she teaches. She asks questions with attendance, which I think is fun. The only thing is that she is very vague when it comes to requirements for papers.
She is a super sweet person, she asks questions with attendence which is fun. But the class itself is pretty boring and the guidelines for the papers aren't very clear
Hannah is an amazing person with a great personality. She is passionate about the subject and also about her students. She expects you to read the required story each night (which usually is short and easy to read) and be prepared to discuss it the next day. She grades very fairly in her essays and the content is interesting.
Nicest lady ever, I've been in her class for two weeks now and can already tell it will be a good semester. Take her if at all possible
Dr. Abrams is so sweet and a really good teacher. We had daily journal prompts that were collected for a grade at the end of the semester so I suggest you do them all. The 5 papers are the majority of your grade and you get extra credit for going to the Writing Center. She also offers extra credit for going to certain events. Take her for sure!
Take her class! Great professor! She makes the class material interesting and has a great personality. I actually didn't mind going.
The title of the class, "Essay Writing," is imediately intimidating. But Abrams makes it FUN. she was a CRW graduate from UNCW so the essays are turned into a workshop. they are personal essays (NOT academic). you get to pick whatever topics you want!! she starts each class with a fun question for attendance. i look forward to her class.s
Good teacher, she loves her job. papers not too hard but they are papers, you will have three of them to do.
love ms abrams! sweetest professor ever. if you have a chance to take her, do it!
Hannah Abrams is the best professor I've ever had! She is so sweet and really funny and easy-going. Definitely take her class. Love her!
Professor Abrams is one of the best ENG professors I have had. She really tries to relate to students and starts every class with a fun question. She's easygoing and she's really helpful about things even outside of class (like applying to grad school). She really cares about her students. I would definitely take her again.
ENG 306 is one class you will NOT regret taking. Seriously--if it fits into your schedule, take with ABRAMS! She rocks and makes this class really, really fun. i loved it and loved class discussion. you set your desks in a circle and really form relationships with your classmates :) plus you start to learn a lot about each other through your essays
The NICEST professor I've ever had! Really cares about students and engages everyone during class, always has something good to say about your paper. Because its a workshop, its really important to have a friendly environment and Ms Abrams makes that happens. Put effort into it and you'll do fine in this class.
Ms. Abrams is one of the sweetest teachers at UNCW! She is a little bit of a hard grader but she gives TONS of extra credit. She really creates a great classroom environment and wants everybody to do well. I would definitely recommend taking any class with her!
Excellent professor! Very helpful, friendly, and funny. You are only required to have one textbook, and you are assigned a reading before each class. Each class is mainly discussion about the story, a quiz, and an easy journal entry. The reading material is interesting, and the class discussion is easy to participate in.
Easy A. Professor Abrams is so sweet and funny. TAKE HER CLASS!
Ms. Abrams is absolutely hilarious and really knows what she's talking about. You have a (somewhat) short reading about a different country's culture to do before every class and there's a discussion that follows. In-class participation is a MUST, which kind of sucks sometimes if you're not one who likes talking. Overall, she's a great professor.
I can see why many students enjoy her laid-back approaches, but for all you structured & formulated students, you might want to run for cover. Classes were centered on partisan subjects; giving you a front row seat to her perspectives. Sweet woman who means the best, but allocates crafty work and unkept commitments.
Her class is very laid back, we didn't do much over the course. Semi-tough grader on papers but an easy A with lots of extra credit opportunities. She's very personable and enjoys getting to know her students
Easiest class I have ever taken. We watched TED talks for over three months and just wrote journals on them in class. Class was kind of a waste of time, but an easy A. However Abrams is very nice and we only had to write three papers the entire semester, that only had to be three pages long.
3 3 paged-papers were really easy to do. However, she once just did not show up to class without any emails, it was kind of annoying but she has good reasons. She cancels pretty frequently. Also attendance is taken everyday and she will fail you for not showing up. It's an easy grade if you just come to class.
Abrams is a nice professor and she runs an enjoyable class. However, if you don't keep up with her un-structured schedule, you will preform badly in the class. For students that like structure and don't have time for last minute assignments, do not take this class. Although easy work, it takes up time and you can never know what to expect.
This is the most unprofessional professor I have experienced. She has canceled class more than 7 times so far. She was very unorganized and I feel that my grade and overall learning was negatively impacted. Because we only had to attend very minimal classes this class was pretty easy to get through but there were quizzes which were difficult.
Definitely one of the greatest professors Ive had. Highly recommend.
Read the texts, show up and participate in the discussions, write a few 3 or 4 page essays and collect your easy A. She cancels class a lot btw.
If you don't have to take Prof Abrams, please don't. She's very nice and I think she means well, but she cancels class at least once a week and then acts like its the students fault. Most of the time she doesn't remember where the class is at and she's just really confused. Its not a very hard class, but you never know your grade.
Abrams class is very easy as long as you go to class. She expects participation in class, a quiz for each class on the reading, and journal assignments. She is a harsh grader on papers but she has so many other grades that you will get an A.
Gives a really good amount of work, and always manageable. Since it's an English class and therefor has a lot of essays, she really helps with spacing out your intro, to draft, to reviews, to final essay. Grades easy, online has a lot of discussion posts, but usually gives everyone 100's on them.
Entire English class was about racial topics. Sorry, I didn't take English just to follow your politics. On top of that, she posts the assignments and their quizzes the exact same day they're due. That leaves me with practically no warning, and if I'm busy, that's a 0. She's disorganized, and obviously doesn't put much thought into this class.
I took this as an asynchronous class and Abrams never seemed prepared with anything. This class was easy as long as you write the papers (which she spaces out and give you do dates for the intro, rough draft, and final draft) and do the written responses, which are not hard. Although it's writing-intensive it's not too hard and not too much work.
Gives a lot of homework and discussion assignments, but they are not hard to keep up with. A little scattered when posting assignments but you can complete most assignments within 30 minutes or less if you do the reading and pay attention to her instructions. Be sure to check every night if something is due as it is not always posted on time.
She's a very sweet professor, but the most unorganized I have ever had. It was an online class, and she constantly cancelled assignments with no reasoning. She gives quizzes every week which are hard to pass if you don't read. Also, numerous times on canvas she posted dates, that were completely wrong. But its easy.
The only complaint I have is how she lays out her canvas, I get confused sometimes and end up having to do work last minute sometimes. Otherwise, she is a good English teacher and her work is fairly simple.
The way this class is set up is extremely unorganized. We would have assignments assigned in the afternoon two times a week and those same assignments would be due at midnight the same day. Almost every assignment we had was not graded until the last day of class so we did not know our grade throughout the entire class. Do not take her.
This class was not 'essay heavy' but there were quite a few writing assignments, none of which were too challenging. There was a textbook for this class but I hardly used it. We had to reflect on a few personal essays from a collection, but they can be found online. Pretty easy class.
Professor Abrams is a great instructor, and is extremely flexible and understanding. She gives detailed feedback on essays and writing assignments
Super sweet, and wants you to do well in the class. It was online so it was not that hard, just a few homework assignments per week.
Professor Abrams is a great teacher! She is super caring and understanding.
She is extremely sweet and understanding. Some of the pieces can be difficult but she acknowledges that and goes over every peace in class. It was online and was easy to access. Her dog was also really cute. I recommend her!!
She is really nice and is not a very hard grader compared to my old AP English teacher. For every writing we work with, we have a class discussion on and there is no wrong answers, just participate. She also cancelled class for random reasons and gave us less work during exam times.
Professor Abrams is by far one of the best teachers I've had at UNCW! She is very intelligent and really cares about what she does. There is a lot of reading in this class and there are two short essays a week, but they are usually relatively short and easy. I definitely recommend taking her courses!
She was a very good and easy teacher for Eng 201. It was an online class with two zooms a week. We had to get an online text book but you use it for each week's readings which are due before class. Which we just talk about and she like it when people participate because she checks for that. Easy class, only had 2 papers this semester.
Hannah Abrams is by far my favorite professor at UNCW. As a marine bio major I wasn't expecting much from this course. This class quickly became my favorite & this was thanks to Abrams. The class is discussion based and so enjoyable. By the end, the class truly felt like a family. She was able to do this all over zoom! I would highly recommend her
Dr. Abrams is a great professor however she requires A LOT of homework for an elective class. Her quizzes are also tough, and you have to write two papers each week on top of the quizzes.
She has been my favorite professor so far! She is the sweetest person ever and truly cares about her students success! Only 2 hw assignments/week and had 3 essays this semester! She grades super easily, but participation matters so make sure to speak up in discussions! TAKE HER!!!!
Professor Abrams is so kind! Loved the routine of weekly readings and discussions. Never had a problem with assignments or essays. Had this class online synchronously. Highly recommend if you need a Writing Intensive University Study credit.
Professor Abrams is very sweet and understanding. The class itself was not too bad, I had it on Zoom 2 days a week. We had a small assignment 1-2 times per week with a small quiz and they were fairly easy. Only 2 papers this whole semester as well. Show up to class and participate and you will get an A.
Hannah Abrams is awesome. She really does care about her students and wants everyone to do well. Participation is very important for her online course. Make sure you do it! Lastly, her class may feel repetitive. If that is something you like then definitely take her. I personally enjoy it, and she always has nice feedback during class lecture!
I REALLY really enjoyed having Professor Abrams! She is the sweetest and truly cares about the well-being of her students! Every class is structured the same. The readings she would give were interesting and not difficult. I would 100% take her again!
English is a time consuming class, but Professor Abrams made it as enjoyable. Each week we had 2-4 articles to read and had to answer questions along with a few inquizitives. During zoom meetings, we would have conversations about the homework. It was annoying at times, but she is overall a sweet person and truly cares for her students. I recommend
I absolutely loved Professor Abrams! She is so kind and cares about connecting with her students. Weekly reading responses but nothing too heavy. Participation is a major part of the grade so attendance matters.
Professor Abrams is awesome! She really cares for her students and listens to everything you have to say. Participation is a big thing but she makes it super easy to and fun. You'll have some reading and written responses but they are quick and easy to get done. Would take her again if I could!
I absolutely adore professor Abrams. Her class is structured the same everyday- a 5 or less question quiz, short written response, and discussion. She is very caring and accommodating towards students. She often cancels class or holds a short zoom meeting.
Absolutely amazing professor! She is so kind and personable. I love how she gets to know each of her students. She is very knowledgeable and is always willing to help. The class itself is very manageable and non-time consuming. She explains clearly what she is looking for in assignments/essays and she does not grade harshly what so ever.
She is very nice and caring, Open to any questions you might have!!
I really liked professor Abrams. I had her online over zoom. Attendance is mandatory, camera must be on, and she does daily attendance questions everyone must respond to in order for her to mark attendance. Not a heavy workload, but participation matters. You have to share something on every zoom for her to count participation points. I recommend.
Professor Abrams is hands down one of my favorite professors this semester. You can tell that she truly loves her job as well as her students. I hated English in high school but learned to love it here. Participation is mandatory as well as your camera being on for a online class. The workload was very straightforward and easy to manage.
Professor Hannah Abrams is amazing! Her class is super easy, and she explains everything clearly while making the material enjoyable—highly recommend!
This class is really easy but really annoying, as long as you read the assignments and participate on zoom. She assigns a ton of reading and some of it she would forget to post so it would come up on a Sunday when it was due the next day at 10 am. She grades everything late and I had things submitted as far as September being graded the last week.
Mrs. Abrams is an amazing professor, and the class is pretty easy. Assignments typically consist of a reading and a short written response, and my class had two papers: one Personal Narrative and one Research paper. Abrams is super nice and tries to get to know her students even though our class was online.
I had Professor Abrams for both English 101 and 201, and she is honestly the best! Participation does matter, but it's super easy to keep up and get a good grade if you just show up and engage. There's usually a quiz and a written response each week, but they're super easy. I absolutely loved having her and can't recommend her enough!
Be prepared to talk on zoom for participation. Easy work but makes it annoying. Never gives 100 always 95 even tho says work is lovely. 2 papers 1 personal narrative and 1 research lots of WR and quizzes that are pointless. Mostly 2-4 WR per week. Grades last minute. Picks what emails she responds to also publishes assignments at the last second.
She was so nice and the class was so good. It was all on zoom, most of the call was taken up by the attendance question. Very few writings, and when you did, it was not very hard and did not take long
wonderful!!! so sweet and insightful. I wish it were in person, but I loved the reflections she had us write and the text we reviewed. class was always seminar-like, which was fun to hear everyone's takeaways and interpretations on our readings.
Actually the sweetest human ever! Short written responses twice a week, pretty annoying to do but were easy. 3 essays but we ended up only having to do two. Grades really late so if you have anxiety abt that wouldn't recommend.
The absolute best. Only thing I could think of is that she does not keep up with grades through the semester, so it could come as a shock if your grade begins to drop near the end, but as long as you stay on top of your work, you'll be perfectly alright.
Took her online section and required zoom. She's a very nice professor but her class is not very organized. Most of the time, she doesn't know where the class left at and forgets. She grades most of all assignments at the very end of the semester and posts late. Her class consists 2 written responses every week, and 2 essays in the semester.
