Honestly, it wasn't that difficult of a class, but the amount of work for the type of class it was, completely unreasonable. My beef with her is that it is a college 101 class and she hands out 4 papers that need to be done throughout the quarter and unrealistic meticulous online quizzes that offer no benefit to your learning experience.
This class is a breeze. The material is easy to understand and she makes the lectures interesing. Lots of little assingments that are worth under 10 points. The final project is worth 25. The quizzes once a week are open book and open group discussion. Very kind and clear with directions. Aside from quizzes, there are 2 other types of assignments.
By far the most un organized class I have ever been in. Syllabus changed multiple times throughout the quarter. LOTS of assignments that are worth 2-5 points each. Final project is worth 25 so it makes or breaks your grade. Very tough grader. Open book and discussion weekly reading quizzes. Easy material just super picky and tough with grading.
Prof Flesch's classes aren't the easiest you'll ever take, but boy are they worth it! I learned so much last quarter about anthropology and about different ways of looking at the world. The schedule changed a couple of times because the guest speakers couldn't make it but hey, how many other courses have you taken that have 4 amazing guest speakers
I adored Hannah. She was extremely kind, funny, interesting, genuinely cares about her students, and loves to be there. Her classroom is a safe environment, and I definitely feel safe to speak about whatever, without judgement. I can not say enough good things about this woman, I would recommend her to anyone and everyone. Definitely my favorite!!!
Hannah is like an older version of Jess from New Girl. Very sweet & super energetic. Be sure to do the readings (no worries, they're fun) and show up to class. Only complaints: she's not very clear on her grading criteria, and always ends class on the minute. But she brings lots of cookies, and dresses like a sunday school teacher. So I loved her.
The most unorganized teacher I have EVER had. Never take this teacher for a hybrid course. Half your assignments are on a un syllabus that she will print out multiple times because the dates are incorrect. The other half will be on her extremely unorganized canvas page. Her class is a nightmare and I learned nothing.
I took this class last quarter, and I can't believe how much it has helped me. There was so much in it that I maybe didn't appreciate at the time, but which has come in really handy as I am taking other classes. Understanding professors, Study habits, and stuff like that. And Professor Flesch is really great!
Dr. Flesch is a truly caring and knowledgeable professor, and the course (+ Biomedical Ethics this time!) was fun and informative. To do well in the class: make an effort to contribute to your team, read/show up to do the assignments, and just be thoughtful about the material. It isn't too difficult, and the 3 presentations are so very rewarding!
Seriously one of the best and most professional instructors that Cascadia offers. She demonstrates great knowledge on the subject, teaching, lectures, and connects with the class very well, and the assignments are enjoyable! you will leave class wanting to learn more about the subject and wanting to take more of her classes. 10/10
This class is very easy to get an A. There is a reading quiz/in class activity that takes up the whole class period with a very little lecture at the beginning. Flesch is very liberal and that heavily comes through in the class lectures, reading and can influence your grade if you do not share the same opinions with her. I enjoyed the class, easy A
Ive taken two classes with professor Flesch and they were two fairly easy As. You will have at most two hours of homework per week from this class. Maybe a bit more during group projects which are usually due near the end of the quarter. She is a very nice instructor and connects with her students very well.
Professor Flesch is great! She's fun in class, and the work is pretty simple and straight forward. There is a pretty substantial group project, and there are weekly discussion quizzes on required readings, but the class itself is interesting and pretty chill.
Her class is really interesting, lectures can get boring but she designs the course extremely well. Also the reading quizzes and in class activities are quite easy if you follow the directions. My biggest complaint is there's only 100 points the entire quarter so if your absent your grade will drop from the quizzes or not do well, your screwed.
Prof Flesch is seriously one of the most caring and engaging profs I've had at Cascadia. Interesting lectures and readings, heavy on team discussions and in class activities which will boost your grade if you attend and participate. Recommended!
Hannah is an incredible professor. She has great enthusiasm about anthropology and makes it a priority to engage in insightful conversation with us. There was never a one-sided lecture. I have learned a HUGE amount of information that inspire me to be a change-maker. The readings/videos in class are relevant to current events. Amazing professor!!
Prof Flesch was the best professor I have ever had. After I took the class, I found myself thinking things through the lectures she gave. The class itself is really fun. You need to show up because there are reading quizzes everyday and in class activities, but they are all easy and fun. The teacher is so sweet and understandable.
Prof Flesch is great. Love the way she integrates current events into class and mixes teams up so that you get to know more people. Also like the way she tries to stay neutral, and lets students make up their minds. Always asks us what we think and then encourages us to share our ideas. There are lots of cool in class activities. Good class!
I really appreciate professor Flesch. She shared many readings that related to anth206 and did her best to accommodate to student's lives and schedules. Her questions in the quizzes are related to the readings and not confusing. You will need to take notes of the power points and differentiate the difference between definitions in anthropology.
Professor Flesch is by far the best professor I have ever had. She is very kind and makes you feel welcomed in her class. Her expectations are clear and makes learning fun. She often puts her students in teamwork activities so everyones ideas are heard and it is a good way to get to know other people. Amazing professor!
She's a great teacher and loves what she teaches. She is inspirational and gives real life situations to relate to the class/course. Her test were 3-4/5 hard and there is reading required to the test/quiz. This class can get quite personal and emotional too as it talks about culture. society, and etc. Overall would take this teacher again.
Professor Flesch is so sweet and easy to talk to. She does grade kind of hard, as in you might not always get full points on assignments. A lot of groupwork and group discussions. Reading quiz at least once a week. Really fun and interesting course though and it provides a great opportunity to hear others opinions.
She is an amazing woman who I would love to have for all of my other classes. She cares about her students and takes the time to get to know everyone. I have two more days left in her class and i'm going to make sure I remember them as much as I can. Flesch always has a smile on her face and has a great sense of humor. She grades fair. Great class
Hands down the most awesome Professor! Flesch cares about you&the quality of education you get. Shes approachable and respects everyones opinion. Her classes were never boring!! About 2 group/individual quizzes a week(so every class). Lot to read but wasnt hard. Group projects at the end. CANNOT MISS CLASS or no points on quizzes/ic activity
I had a very good experience with this professor! I took her Cultural Anthropology class, and I found her to be very enthusiastic, and she made the subject enjoyable. Professor Flesch was great at working with the students individually, and answering any questions the student may have in a safe and comfortable environment. Overall, very good class!
She was really nice and understanding about technical issues. You need the book within the first week to do well on the first quiz. Overall pretty easy just slightly time consuming with the readings and videos.
Flesch is a very nice professor. Her class is very lecture heavy, but well laid out and organized. It's only graded on a few assignments and the final is worth 50% of your grade. The final group project is good or bad, depending on your group. I ended up doing a lot of the work and her interventions only made problems in my group worse.
This is the second class i've taken from Prof Flesch. She brings lots of energy to each class and lectures are interesting. Team project is worth a lot, and there are lots of reading quizzes but its not hard to do well if you participate and read the material. Great class.
Professor Flesch is one of the nicest, most respectable person I have ever met in my life. She is a super easy grader and does not give any test and only short quizzes. There is a big group project which is going to be terrible if your group is but she is an easy grader so just make sure you do well on the readings and quizzes.
She is so clear with all her directions, a bit lenient and overall an amazing teacher!! Make sure you read what she assigns and you will be fine
Shes a good professor. Only downside is that shes a tough grader. She gives marks by the decimals as in 0.5,0.75 and 1.0. The topics explored in her class was fun so it wont bore you to death. She does assign multiple readings but theyre interesting.
Professor Flesch is simply AMAZING! Words cannot describe how much I enjoyed her class, please take any class with her! You will not be disappointed. She respects her class and creates a beautiful community each quarter. I have learned a great deal from her and enjoyed learning about medical anthropology!
This is by far one of best professors I've had. She does give a lot of readings, but they are always informative and interesting, and you will be quizzed but they are easy as they are open note. Going to class is important as the reading quizzes and ICA's account for a big part of your grade, but she is very understanding and caring professor.
Professor Fleschs class was so thought-provoking and Flesch is the right person to teach it. She is so kind and brings up so many great discussions! Ive learned so much from her class. There are reading quizzes each class based on assigned reading during the week, but if youve done the reading (which can sometimes be a lot) theyre easy.
Professor Flesch is a very thoughtful and amazing professor. The way she puts together classes is simply remarkable. You will enjoy the readings she places under each week and will learn way more than what the class has to offer. She gives good feedback and has great communication with the class. Highly recommend any of her classes!
Flesch was kind and had a lot of knowledge on Anthropology. The class work can be a little too much especially group projects but she was able to keep the class fun and active!
She assigns a lot of reading but most of it is overlap and not necessary. She also assigns almost no work and as long as you do the assignments on time and read the material, its an easy A.
Prof. Flesch has a strong character that resonates within her teaching. She takes the concepts she proposes and makes meaningful, contemporary connections that engage the students. Not to mention she has a well-organized and simple class schedule for online classes. A great course to take online or to just slow things down. Such a great Professor!
The class was 100% online, Mondays you received your readings and videos for the week. Professor Flesch had a mid-week check-in on Wednesday and Quiz on the week's material on Friday. 6 total quizzes a mid-term and a final.
Loved having Professor Flesch. Gives you readings and a lecture for each week, and is a very lenient/understanding grader. Usually discussion posts. Final was a lot of writing but fairly easy and the material was genuinely super interesting and engaging. Very nice professor too, would have loved to have her in person. Would 100% recommend her!
She seems like a great person but this class is more than useless. The class is made up of 4 reading assignments and 2 exams. The topics are dreadfully boring and overall just a waste of time. Probably a very easy A if youre fine with spending 2 hours with boring work every 3 weeks. And by the way this course has very little to do with medicine
Professor Flesch is one of the most caring professors I have ever encountered. Her online class was easy to navigate. The readings were interesting and the topics we went over were as well. There are discussion assignments each week or every other week and there are two bigger assignments. She is clear with her assignments and gives good feedback!
I liked Ms. Flesch, she taught me lots of little things like from proper etiquette to being financially savvy , overall I really liked her and she is flexible with assignments and very understanding.
We got 1 assignment due a week with a no-questions-asked 24-hour grace period. The content and her lectures are interesting and the assignments go by fast. She grades on time consistently as well, and as long as you put the effort in she grades really well.
Flesch is kind and caring. She gives light amounts of work. Do the work and your pass with flying colors.
Professor Flesch is a very likeable teacher because of her passion for the topics discussed and her knowledge of the material. The homework is almost always done in class and the lectures are usually engaging.
I had Professor Flesch for College 101 and she was very nice and understanding. Homework wasnt difficult to complete and she gave good feedback and was very helpful. As long as you do your work and show up to class you will pass.
The best professor I have ever had for College 101! She is the most caring and charming person I have ever met, her course load is light (but still do them please), her feedback is very helpful, and she is dedicated to helping her students with any questions they may have!
Professor Flesch was an amazing professor for this course. She cares about the success of her students and wants the best for you. Though the work may seem unnecessary it really does set you up for success in college. She is a sweet lady that responds to emails early, is accessible through office hours, and grades on time. Wonderful person.
Professor Flesch was one of the sweetest professors I have ever had at Cascadia. She was so understanding and created a safe environment for students. She would lecture but the discussions were always engaging. She seemed to have a genuine interest in the topic she was teaching. There was a big group project but she was clear in her expectations.
Professor Flesch was great, she's very intelligent and open to having in class discussions. This was a very interesting course with not much work outside of class. I would highly recommend taking the course with Professor Flesch.
Flesch is such a great professor -- they genuinely find enjoyment in teaching about anthropology, and their positive energy really makes the class exciting overall. Such a kind soul ! Attendance is mandatory and highly beneficial -- there is a reading due before class and an in-class assignment that follows it.
I have had her for two classes, and they were both amazing. She is very understanding and really involves students in the designing of larger assignments. The assignments that there are in her classes are pretty easy as she focuses more on students learning the material than being able to take tests.
I had Dr. Flesch for ANTH100 during the 2022 spring quarter. She was a phenomenal teacher. You will have to do a good amount of reading and writing, but I found all of the material to be helpful in understanding the work. This class is challenging, but it is logically-organized and you can clearly see that Dr. F cares about this subject.
Dr. Flesch was so great to work with! She understands that life happens and will give you a heads up if you missed something or did something wrong, she'll have you correct and resubmit. She also has a grace period on some of her assignments. Overall, I enjoyed this class even though it was online!
Professor Flesch is a good professor. Online so I don't know how the classes run, this was asynchronous. Not recitation heavy but since there's a decent amount of reading and writing necessary and you have to do all things entirely without much exception to get full points. As long as you do though, you should get full points.
She is so good. Easily one of my favorite professors at Cascadia. She encourages class discussions about fascinating topics. Not recitation-heavy at all, and as long as you actively participate, it is an easy A. Lots of contextualization and broadening the scope of world problems. Super fun class, and a great person too!
AMAZING TEACHER! With it being my first quarter at Cascadia I couldn't have asked for a better teacher! She is so caring, genuine and funny! I LOVE HER
Really kind and likeable. Coursework is a little boring but not entirely her fault. Lots of emphasis on teamwork.
I love how most of her grade is based on quizzes which are mostly easy questions you can find in the textbook. Her class overall is all about thoughtful discussions. I do think sometimes her lectures are a bit lengthy (not too bad tho) and can get distracted easily however she is sweet and understanding.
The course felt redundant to me which made the classes feel long and unbearable, but still teaches useful information. Professor Flesh cares about making sure group work goes smoothly and grades reasonably, although takes a while. Large portion of grade comes from final assignment which I felt was wierd since it was mostly one large reflection.
I've heard good things about her just don't take her for college 101. She assigns a lot of unnecessary graded work, and there's also one big group project where she assigns the group. Lectures are long and boring. I have friends in other college101 classes, and their workload was much lighter. I wouldn't recommend Flesch for coll101.
Easy A. Lots of small assignments. No textbook to buy. Helped me to plan my courses and stop procrastinating. Flesch is friendly and helps students work together.
Professor Flesch is an amazing teacher! Her class is organized well and keeps your interest. She's a caring teacher and has a 24 hour grace period for assignments and drops the two lowest grades. She also responds quickly and is very understanding, I ended up not turning in two assignments due to other course workload. 10/10
Professor Flesch was super nice, positive, and always tried to make class interesting. I genuinely believe that she cares about her students. There was a big emphasis on group projects in her class and there wasn't a huge homework load.
The professor herself is very caring. She genuinely tries her best for everyone's success. I definitely would recommend taking her class for Coll 101. Attendance is not graded but there are in-class assignments that are graded. I also don't like group projects. Based on COLL 101 Spring 2023.
Professor Flesch is probably the best professor I have taken courses with in my time at Cascadia. I've taken both Coll 101 and Anth 206 with her, and I never felt too stressed because I knew she would help me out/consider making accommodations if I had a valid reason. Also, she is very intelligent, uses correct grammar, and conveys messages clearly
Professor Flesch assigns a moderate amount of work, mostly comprised of in-person worksheets and online quizzes. Her instructions are always very clear, and she has an accommodating late policy. I enjoyed her class, and definitely learned some college/life skills!
She never opens assignments again after the due date even if you had a medical emergency or something stopping you from completing them within the required time. She expects you to have your assignments in on time with no exceptions yet she takes double the time to grade them.
Flesch dealt with challenging topics with care and consideration of different perspectives. Major assignments allowed students to work together and share ideas. Not too much work. Quizzes are open-book. Nice prof.
Prof Flesch was super caring. Her Coll101 class is a very easy A as long as you complete all the work. The homework took a maximum of 1 hour per assignment and she is super understanding. There is also a 24 hour grace period for every assignment.
There was a lot of unnecessary assignments but the professor was very kind. For college 101 I would find someone who is known to give a lighter workload because I felt like I spent more time on this class than either of my other classes.
I really enjyed the discussion made in class. It helped me to understand many of my classmate's perspective.
Very little work outside of class other than readings. In-class discussions were pretty interesting and never felt too stretched. Quizzes were always easy because they were open-book
There was essentially no work outside of class apart from the readings. We had reading quizzes almost weekly that were open book and pretty simple. There are also 5 group major assignments throughout the quarter. The lowest major assignment and 2 lowest reading quiz grades are dropped. Prof. Flesch was very kind, I would recommend the class.
Unless you want a bunch of busy work, I don't recommend, and one wrong answer on an insignificant quiz or missing one class drops your grade significantly......
Professor Flesch is a super caring/understanding professor. Theres a lot of assignments in the class and a group presentation. There is a 24 hour grace period for late classes which is useful. Attendance is mandatory because there is many in person assignments. Professor Flesch is a great professor who really shows she cares.
There were a lot of random assignments in this class which were very long. There were some points taken off which dropped my grade significantly, but there are several extra credit assignments that brought it up. Overall, Professor was nice but I didn't really understand the objective of the class.
She's nice and responds quickly, but the class itself was confusing. There was a lot of readings and homework that weren't really necessary, but took a long time. Her instructions were also hard to follow. She is pretty lax on the late policy which is nice. There's a big group project at the end of the class, so just stay on top of that.
In this class, we had one assignment per week. So if you get a bad grade it would be tough, if you could read all the material, you would be fine. She gives you a 24-hour grace period for the assignments.
This class had interesting material and a low amount of homework. Professor Flesch is approachable, kind, and obviously interested in her subjects. I would totally recommend this course!
Professor Flesch is super nice, positive, and open minded. All assignments are created with the intention to get students interested and involved in fun ways, researching unfamiliar cultures and learning new practices without judgement.
she was definitely one of my more chill teachers, if something happens and you aren't able yk make it too class unfortunately she dosnt have any make up assignments but otherwise she was amazing
Prof. Flesch is an amazing teacher who is very caring and loves what she does. It's a very lecture based class, but also with lots of discussion. There is a lot of group assignments, and a case study at the end. Overall the class was easy and it was partly because Prof. Flesch is very concise and chill. Her classes are great !!!
Super nice! I would highly recommend taking this professor!
She's very nice and caring! Her class was quite easy and you will pass the quizzes if you read the chapter for the week. A group project as the final and she grades easily. Overall it was a joy to take her class and it was fun!
Oh my gosh I loved Prof. Flesch so much!! She was truly the sweetest person I've ever met and so extremely good at what she does. This class is so interesting and super easy - I would recommend taking it during a quarter where you have other difficult courses. I never spent over 45 minutes a week on work outside of class.
