alot of notes, but she makes the class very easy
To be honest, i rarely go to class, since i find economics really boring. but i do occasionally go, and hannah seems to be a very nice person. she throws bonus questions onto tests relating to some random anecdote she has told the class in the last month. out of 3 tests, you only keep the best 3. easy marks. dont settle for any of the other profs.
Easy class, and its in part of how she teaches it. Only 2/3 tests are kept and the bonus questions are free marks. The class can be boring but her examples are clear and consise.
very good instructor
I love this prof. Definetly one of the best profs at mac.
Amazing teacher, makes a boring subject very interesting. Very clear and concise with examples, highly recommended.
Her class is really boring like its my least favorite one to go to, but the fact that her notes are so detailed and her test and exam are entirely based on them, it makes up for it. Shes a good prof to have particularily for such a boring class lol
overall a great teacher. she makes the class enjoyable with great examples that the students can relate to. she also fills us in on her social life.
i suck at math, but she made it okay. interesting for a boring subject. i'm sure she's engaging if you get math too.. overall a pretty good prof.
Great prof. Her lectures are detailed and she makes stats interesting. She is full of life so even though the topics can get boring, she tries to make it better.
Painfully boring class. Only because the material was awful. She's very friendly and approachable and is really dedicated to helping everyone succeed. Her powerpoints are AWESOME, you won't need the text at all.
Very straight forward prof. She won't ruin you. Excellent. Her test are to the point. Very helpful.
Really nice teacher. The subject itself is boring, but she tries to make it fun and has a good sense of humour!
I found her dull, but a 'good' professor. In order to do well in her tests and exam, you need to apply yourself--not just memorizing. For this course, it's not worth going to the lectures because the podcasts and her slides are all you need. The only reason to attend her classes is to get the answers for those bonus questions.
Good teacher
One of the best profs i had this year. Definetly recommened going to class [although you dont really need to] - but i would go since she really makes the topics interesting. take this class if u are a visual learner and are good with basic math. tests are multiple choice, an easy doublt digit, but have to put in some extra effort to get that 12.
If you want to go class and teach then forget about that with this proff. She just read power point slide.Doesn't explain anything.Only this gud about this course is it was so easy. That's why we got marks. Not because she tough us
Nice Prof, extremely easy. Do not need to go to class, nor buy the textbook. Just get her lecture notes and study them for the tests and the final. She loves them Packers too.
she basically reads off the slides . extremely boring class - go if u like to waste time. her notes are excellent however - dont buy the textbook - memorize her notes and u'll get that A+. she cancelled a lot of the classes so that she can watch her football team play...
i seriously love this prof. she is amazing!
genuinely a nice person who enjoys teaching - you really dont need to go to class; her lecture notes are VERY good. do the assignments online as theyre really similar to her tests.
best prof of my first semester!
great course and teacher, but interest is very low :(
She is an excellent prof. She always explain clearly.
Hands down:the easiest course you will get in university! nice prof, explains stuff well, lectures and podcasts posted online, textbook isn't even required. the one class i can study 6 hours before the test and make an 80+
shes cool
You don't need the textbook, read her powerpoints. Very easy prof, lets you out early. Not for everyone though: she loves sports/football, and paraphrases from her powerpoints. Many people don't go to classes and still do really well. Personally I didn't like her because she didn't make econ interesting. (and it's boring to begin with)

I do not like her at all.
Great Prof, especially her Sports Econ class, shes a huge sports fan so she made it interesting, her tests were easy, but still allowed you to learn and gain knowledge from the course, well organized, and dont have to spend 100$ on textbooks
A little too slow
great teacher - took her awesome slides for granted until i had second sem ECON with O'Shaughnessy (spelling?) shes a great speaker, has great notes, and is pretty much great all around :)
an amazing prof! one of my fav. so far..shez really clear with what shez saying..her quizzes help to stay on task..and shez really nice :D
Favourite teacher ever
Good lecturer, posts all notes and podcasts online. Teaches right from slides, so don't feel bad about missing a class. Textbook is a waste, exam questions taken from Avenue, so focus on those, and you're guaranteed at least an 80. Would recommend.
Great prof, explains things well, no need for the textbook, has random bonus questions on midterms and exams about personal things about her which she'll randomly bring up in class. (Like favourite football team, what her cat's names are, does she have a cow named after her). Little quirky, but she's good.
Very nice and informative, gives a lot of bonus marks for the tests. The midterms were relatively easy but the exam was super hard!
The midterms were okay, study and you'll do fine, however, the exam was insanely difficult. I bought the textbook for nothing as I never even opened it.
Very detailed notes, can be boring at times but generous in giving examples and bonuses
ONLY Engineering and somewhat science students do well in her class. Exams are very difficult because they're all calculations. Half dropped. THIS IS NOT A BIRD COURSE!
her classes was clear and straightforward. tests and exams all have bonus questions. easy to get high marks.
Holmes is such a great professor! Although she teaches from the slides, I don't recommend skipping class because she explains it in a way that you'll remember when you go to study. The course is relatively easy but I wouldn't say it's a "bird" course because you do need to do work and study.
For an intro microeconomics class the exams were all calculations. Many struggled, including engineering students! Difficult!
good prof, easy course
I really don't know how anybody can think this class is difficult. As somebody who is in the faculty of science and who definitely didn't have hot marks in first year, I can definitely say this is the easiest course I've ever taken. Holmes gives tons of bonus marks and her tests are close to identical to the previous tests she posts. Easy 11-12.
One of the best profs ever! She makes university/class much easier for everyone and gives you so many bonus marks, you can easily get an 11 or 12 :) highly suggest taking a course with her
Great prof, teaches well.
This class was so easy, basic math and common sense could get you through. Her lectures were very slow moving though
All calculations. Many struggled, including engineering students! I dropped the course. Im an Integrated Science major.
This is not a bird course! Wow was it hard. Exam was brutal all calculations.
Nothing special. She would not even lecture (she only read the powerpoints). She could be funny at times, but it seemed as if she did not take us 1st years seriously. Do not take the course as an elective, you will lose interest and receive an unsatisfactory mark. Easy midterms (2), difficult final. The TAs who would host review lectures were bad.
Super easy course, common sense and simple math will get you through. Don't buy the textbook, mine is still in the plastic. Slow lectures but very thorough. Never went to class, watched the podcasts (exact same as lectures) and went into the final with 100.
Almost so easy it gets boring.. hard to take the class seriously. She is a lovely woman but not professional - depends on the student pretty much. Still a generally easy course - PODCASTS!
Took 2G03 in the summer, she provides amazing notes along with practice tests and reviews along with answers. Actual exams are twice as hard as she tries to use more confusing equations. Study and you will get at least a 7. Should not be compared with Econ 1B03 as the material is much harder. Has a lot of math. Does not have podcasts. Good luck!
Exams are confusing and the class appears easy and clear, tests are FAR harder then you study and practice for. Really not clear about how to apply the examples in her exams and notes and podcasts aren't provided if you miss class. GO TO CLASS. NEVER MISS the tutorials, tells you what to expect. But it's much harder than she says.
Good students will find it impossible not to get a 12 in her class. She's a clear lecturer and very helpful
Hannah Holmes is a great prof. She gives lots of extra credit opportunities. If you actually read the slides before the tests and do the practice she gives, you'll get a good mark in the course.
2 midterms, and an exam - that's it exam was non-cumulative! (its basically another midterm) "lectures have all the required info for midterms/exams" - the textbook is not a necessity (although it may be helpful) posts all lectures online the day after! (so you can choose when you listen to the lecture)
God bless Holmes
Very straightforward professor, Don't need the textbook, Gives you clear examples which consist of simple math. If you review these examples, keep up with her lectures to some degree, easy 12. She gives tons of bonus marks, and midterms and exams are fairly easy !
Nicest prof ever! As long as you listen to her lectures and do some practice problems you should be fine.
Super fun course, Prof. Holmes is a great instructor. You don't even need to attend lectures because she puts all the videos of concepts you need to learn online!! And If you're too lazy to sit through all the videos, simply getting the textbook and reading it nets you a high grade. She also scales tests!!! 10/10 would take again
I will not take this prof ever again
Gave a lot of bonus opportunities, easy course if you study and do practice questions and you don't even have to attend lectures everything is posted online.
One of the best profs I had so far. Lectures and content taught and class were straight to the point. Professeur Holmes is very organized and professional and she also gave out numerous bonus oppurtunities to boost your mark.
The easiest prof for ECON 1B03. Very generous with mark calculations. If you get this prof and don't get a 90, you're doing something wrong.
Very very friendly! Not only is she a great teacher, she makes it very easy to succeed. Plus, she gets right down to the basics, and doesn't bore you with the details. This makes her lectures and videos very easy to follow.
She gives a ridiculous amount of bonus's, course was extremely easy. BUT she is extremely boring professor, be prepared to fall asleep
Easy A, tests are pretty easy
Unbelievably easy course! Well taught, not boring - contrary to what others say! Tests are really easy and fun to write
Podcasts are detailed
Didn't go to class and just studied like crazy before midterms and finals. The bonus's she gave out were great.
Very nice and caring professor but overwhelmingly boring for Microeconomics. Also, everyone told me it was a bird course, but I found the course to be pretty difficult. Have to spend LOTS of time outside of class watching the online videos, with the later weeks having up to 12 videos. Test 1 and 2 were easy but exam was difficult.
amazing prof that keeps things simple and organized. even if u dont go to class just read the notes and youll be golden. gem of a prof
Would not suggest taking this course if you didnt take grade 12 math. The practice exam and the in class review session did a poor job preparing me for the exam which you need to pass to pass the course. There are bonus pretests that help a lot.
Very awful prof. Her voice makes you fall asleep and if you don't spend tons of time outside of class you will fail the exam which results in a failure in the class. The first two tests are easy but the final exam is very difficult. She does no job in preparing you for the exam either. I DO NOT RECOMMEND AT ALL.
This course is designed for a 12. Very easy even without high school econ! The modules, (which are time-consuming), textbook, lectures are word-to-word the same. The prof herself is super inaccessible, was very rude to me when I did manage to get an appointment. Don't expect much from her but take the course to boost your GPA.
watch out for the exam, you have been warned
Tests were fine, but studying for the exam is definitely a good idea.
The best course and prof to take as an elective. She is amazing because of how organized she makes the course. I got a good mark without going to any lectures and studying only when the test comes.
Her class was fairly easy, as long as you did the reading you were fine for all assessments. She's a nice person who cares about her students, even though lectures would be boring sometimes, overall the class was good.
The course was fairly easy, partly because Dr. Holmes taught very clearly everything needed to know to do well. Half of the course is online which makes the learning even easier
Two tests and a final. Tests are super easy and can be studied for the night before. Really just look at the practice tests she provides as its almost the same thing. Never had to use the textbook until the final where the concepts got a little tricky. Don't have to attend lectures either, her videos have everything you need to do well. Easy A
Good Prof that provides relevant material to teach online where you can rely on it to prepare the midterms, which are fair tests. Need to keep up of her pre-tests to prepare, it should not be getting bad grade.
The sweetest professor at Mac. You do not have to go to her lectures, because she posts podcasts and slides with/without audio. Tries her best to help people do well in her class by giving us the option to do pre-tests to bring down the weight of the exams. Overall great prof, and I would definitely take a class with her again.
Hannah Holmes is a great prof ! I respect her grind and I love how her grading and testing criteria is crystal clear. You're never asked anything that is surprising or was not covered. I love how the her course was organized and respect how kind she was to her students. You don't really have to go to class though since everything is online.
I'm really bad at economics, so I have to put in a lot of more effort to understand the content. If you enjoy microeconomics, then this course would be a breeze for you. - two tests (pre-tests 2% (optional)) & one exam
Professor Homles is a gem! She loves teaching economics and hopes that her students enjoy the subject as much as she does. This is a blended course so most learning is done online while the lectures give you opportunities to practice concepts and ask Prof. Holmes questions. Also, she wrote the textbook and donates all proceeds to charity :)
Hannah Holmes is sweet and her textbook is great. It was definitely the sole purpose why I passed this course. However, it was awfully difficult. It was my toughest course. There are only three exams and having to teach yourself all thirteen chapters was extremely difficult and time consuming. Know what your'e getting yourself into before taking it
Sports Economics: I am mainly posting this review because I could hardly find any info about what this course is like when I took it this semester. I would definitely recommend it. Very self-explanatory material. Not many past tests are available and no past exams. interest in sports leagues helps b/c she does put random qs about it on the exam.
If you had her for Micro econ like I did get ready for more of the same. I stopped going to class after a couple weeks because I didn't find it useful. She IS a very nice and caring professor though, you can tell she feels joy when people do show up. No textbook for Sports Econ. Understand the slides and do practice midterms and you'll be fine
I had here for econ 1b03 her test are easy As if you review slides and do the workshops! She well help you if you ask for it and responds in pretty quickly
she did not explain in her modules properly. She used super simple easy examples and her practice test were fair and easy but when writing the actual midterms and exam it was way more difficult.
So I don't know how everyone says this course is a breeze and she's an easy teacher, maybe it's because I'm taking this online. Quizzes are the only thing marked and they're HARD (20 qs in 30 mins, 5qs in 5 mins? and they're NOT short and str8 forward.) Buy the textbook and do the hw if it'll help. She also didn't listen when we said it was 2 hard.
took her class for winter 2020, due to the covid 19, we did 2 inperson tests and one online final exam, test1 is easy, test 2 is harder, for online final exam is very easy cuz you are allowed to use textbook, for this class u need to buy her textbook to do the online homework, overall nice prof
I heard this class was suppose to be easy, but after it went online everything got significantly harder. The quizzes and homework doesn't even line up with the lectures. Even though a lot of students are struggling, she refuses to make the tests easier or change her teaching style.
not sure why she is making this course nearly impossible to do well in. 5 minutes for a true/false quiz? fine. but 30 minutes for a 20 minute multiple choice quiz? she needs to do better and understand that a good portion of these quizzes have long math word problems that take a bit to digest. instead, we are left rushing and guessing. bad course.
Professor Holmes was very unsympathetic for the first-year students at Mac especially for us having our first year online. This class was asynchronous meaning there were no designated lectures but only posted material online. Her MC quizzes were very hard and worth a chunk of our grade in-which 30 minutes was not enough time to complete it.
Professor Holmes is very kind and understanding! She gives you all the tools necessary to succeed in this course and her modules and podcasts are excellent. Sure, the MC quizzes online have some tricky questions but overall not as bad as everyone else claims. I think she is an excellent prof and it is very very doable to 12 this course.
She does not care about her students, she shows no empathy or mercy. Her online class is by far one of the worst in her department. She needs to be more understanding that her quizzing structure is setting her students up for failure. Prof Holmes, please re-evaluate Econ1B03, for everyone's sake.
This woman does not care about her students and makes it impossible for students to do well.
Warning: hard tests
Worst Professor at McMaster. Very rude. She doesn't care about their students or whether we're learning AT ALL. Quizzes were kinda hard, not too bad, the time given was definitely less. She doesn't give enough material to make you feel ready for the quiz. You'll have to find other resources on google. Course is boring and dry and she talks SOO SLOW
Professor Holmes is not passionate about microeconomics. She uses pre-recorded modules from 2016 and there was no live lecture. She also takes long to respond to emails and her responses are vague. It is clear she does not care about this material. If you're looking for a prof to motivate you to learn, do not take her course.
By far the laziest professor I had this semester. The videos she gave us were from 2016, where she read word for word from her slides. I would put the videos to x2 and still fall asleep. And then suddenly her tests are exponentially harder, and with material not covered in the videos. What's even worse? She doesn't host open hours to clarify. Lazy.
Professor Holmes is a GEM! She is such a kind person and a great professor her class is super interesting and very easy to succeed in. Please don't listen to these other nasty reviews people have left, they are false. TAKE THIS CLASS ITS AMAZING AND PROFESSOR HOLMES IS THE BEST!!!!!!!!
This is my 13th reason.
Despite what everyone else has been saying, I must say so myself that the course is easy if you put effort into it or at the very least, minimal effort. The videos were extremely informative and was in fact the only thing I used to pass the course also without studying for the quizzes.
While reading through the reviews, it seems a lot of people ended up having a hard time with microeconomics this semester. I didn't find that was the case. I didn't really study for the quizzes. I read the textbook, watched the videos, and then did well on all the quizzes. I think it was an easy 12, and I found Professor Holmes to be reasonable.
For people who wants to do homework: can you just imagine that the mc question u spend 10 sec on is worth the same mark with the question u spend 10 minutes calculating. Her lectures are not motivating, u can basically read the book and pass the course. The practice problem has nothing to do with the MC quizzes and TF quizzes. Easy course though.
Do not bother watching her videos, my mark went up 10 percent when I stopped watching them. Textbook is the best resource for this course. The textbook questions are much easier than her quizzes however. Emailing her is not helpful. She either does not respond, or she gives vague responses.
Professor Holmes is reasonable. Honestly as long as you put effort into Econ and study for it, do the practice questions and read textbook, go to Professor Gajics office hour or email professor Holmes, you will be fine! Modules were ok, not the best but definitely bearable since the time is pretty short.
You can tell she's really interested in what she talks about, definitely not super fun asynchronous lectures but really easy to do well in the course if you have the textbook.
excellent
She is absolutely terrible. Her class was structured poorly and her tests were hard. They were so difficult to achieve a high mark in and there was not enough time for all the questions. If this is an elective DO NO TAKE THIS COURSE. If you are a business student like me this course is mandatory so be happy with a low mark cause this class was bad.
She is by far the laziest prof I have ever had. She used prerecorded lectures from 2016 and had no in person lectures to explain concepts herself. It is clear she does not care about her students. When she replies to emails her responses are very general (I wouldnt even bother emailing her). Do not purchase her textbook its not worth it.
She took a lot of hate for making quizzes where you couldn't go back, but overall the course isn't too bad. She gives a fair amount of practice and lets you drop your lowest quizzes/tests. Overall, she's okay, and econ is still fairly bird with her.
I took this class (online) and it was very lecture heavy and you had to read the textbook in order to do the homework. Personally, I did't find success watching hours of her pre-recorded lectures, so I ended up just reading the textbook and found that helped way more. 2 weekly quizzes, but no big tests or final exam, which was the good part!
The quizzes that were worth 80%+ of our grades were way too difficult for the time and resources given to us. Prof. Holmes needs to re-evaluate her grading criteria and assessments. The lectures are also pre-recorded from years ago. You'd think they'd be new for the online semester but they're not. The course is disappointing to say the least.
The teacher was pretty good in explaining the content but the quizzes were way harder than the lecture content. Most of the econ classes and the teachers make the class harder than it needs to be
This prof is highly overrated on here - She actually did nothing at all for us while taking the course online. At the very least, she could have held live workshops on Zoom to tie the material to relevant life scenarios. Nothing. Saying she doesnt care about her students is a huge understatement. Stay away at all costs.
great professor
she is so nice and friendly, i really suggest you guys take her class
It's unreasonable. I cant learn anything in the recording class. The tests are very difficult, you have to do 22 questions in 35mins.
Inside this course run by this professor. Quizzes you need to thoroughly study for outside of class material. I have never even communicated with my professor all we have is her textbook which gives base-level knowledge on content given on quizzes that you are only given minimal time to complete.
This class is definitely not worth taking. I took this class as an elective and prerequisite for a second year stream, however, my dreams have been shattered. The greatly weighted quizzes contain content that is no where to be found in the textbook or lessons. DO NOT take this course unless you need to...
In the modules, she explains everything in detail, but when it comes to the quizzes, the content is nothing like the practice questions nor what she taught in modules. At least have practice questions that can actually help for the quizzes. Unacceptable.
Overall, the course wasn't bad, I enjoyed the content, and the way the course was delivered was okay. Essentially, just make sure that you do all the modules and practice questions and you should be fine.
It was the worst course I took. Content-heavy tests are very difficult. I ended up studying this course more than my core courses.
If you are taking this course as a mark booster, it will do nothing but drop. We would get 22 questions in 30 minutes, there was no time to do the calculations. She posted videos that had outdated content and were extremely lengthy. If this course is required, I would recommend buying Mylab, it was worth 10 percent but you'll need the mark booster.
Quizzes are difficult, online format is annoying. Time consuming. Do not take as an elective (even though many Engineering students take it as an elective, it isn't worth their time). If you have to take it, stay on top of the modules. She also doesn't let you go back to previous questions on quizzes, and has no office hours herself.
This class was horrendous. Her videos made no sense, no matter how much I would review and take note her quizzes (which the entire course is graded on if you don't pay for MyLab) are completely different from the content she teaches. If you're looking for a bird course this is not it.
If you don't have to have her as a professor I recommend avoiding her. Never seen a professor half ass so much of a course before. All marks come from quizzes and the lectures are not even remotely helpful for them.
Difficult quizzes and the lectures did not cover the content.
This course was online in the form of pre-recorded videos so can't speak to the in person aspect. In the videos, she does a good job of explaining the content and is easy to understand. The only knock is the chapter quiz's were only available for a limited time on a specific day so there's not much flexibility for people who are busy that day.
took 2P03 sports econ, it's an easy class but there were no lectures. Can't believe I paid almost $1k to read slides, used to be a good prof but has gone way down hill IMO. The whole class was literally just slides and avenue quizzes, save your money or take another class
Hannah Holmes used to be very good, her lectures were great. But this course is the laziest course I've ever seen. No lectures, or recorded videos, or worked solutions. All you have are slideshows and quizzes with not enough time to answer. If you were looking for a bird course, or want to learn something, this isn't the course for you.
I don't know why people are complaining yes here test are harder but its online open book no webcam. You need to read the material and understand if you have questions you can email and she will reply. Yes she is being lazy with no videos however its possible to do good in the course if you try. I took 2k03 I don't know why its not an option
Holmes is very lazy. She creates short and useless lecture videos that rarely help with quiz questions. Her course outlines make you scared of her right from the start (go look at some). Quizzes are way harder than her examples.
A professor who really cares about your academic performance
No video lectures, just slides. Even if you read all the lectures and do the practice work you still will do poorly on the long quizzes. Just a frustrating course, it is not a bird course and frankly the things you learn aren't even that interesting. Theres a final exam in person now if you wanted another reason to not take this course. Awful.
Hannah Holmes is lazy, she does not teach and re-uses the same videos from 10 years ago. Attendance to her weekly lectures are optional and are called "workshops", where she just tells you the answers to the practice questions with minimal explanation. The TA office hours are online and very hard to access. Get her textbook to pass this course.
The textbook practice questions are ok, as well as the MyLab which is worth less, I honestly think the MyLab should be worth more than the quizzes which are less time, and have questions we never practiced before. One improvement I think would be to have the quizzes multiple choice instead of typing in the answer.
Hanna Holmes is one of the kindest, most considerate professor I have ever had. I would take this course over and over and over again if I could.
She truly pushed me to do my best each and every day. She is a woman that deserves the utmost respect. It is my greatest regret that this course did not come into my life earlier and that's because of Dr. Holmes. She emotionally saved me from a burning building and gave my friend her left kidney.
Hannah is not fit to teach, she seems like a sweet lady but her lectures are difficult to follow and the textbook (which she wrote) is riddled with errors and typos. This view is not only mine, there are many of us who struggled with her and actually went to the other prof's lectures. I wish I had looked at this site before I took the course.
Holmes is so lazy. She tells you not to come to her lectures, and when I did they were a massive waste of time. The quizzes aren't even written by her and are unfairly harder than the lecture content. Her textbook is a regurgitation of her videos which are slow and boring. I don't think she cares about her students and never answered an email
The course was alight content wise. However, the online quizzes were unrealistically hard and the time limit does not allow you to even think about the question for more than a few minutes. The exams are difficult enough, but if you study, you will be fine. The professor's online videos go on for too long and they do not really explain a whole lot.
She's retired now I believe, but I still want to say that she was probably the most uncaring professor I've had. Didn't make the assessments, didn't teach, and didn't answer questions or emails. Everything was marked toughly even though little opportunity for practice was given.
She was pretty chill. Had her first sem. Almost all learning was done with her textbook (which wasn't very long) and her videos which she goes over slides. If you follow that you should be good.
Second worst course I had ever taken, you won't learn anything from this course because you will just read the slides with no further explanation. The weekly quiz and long quiz have insufficient period of time to complete, while the difficulty of the long quiz is significantly higher than the weekly quiz. I won't recommend it to anyone.
Does not teach and uses old recycled slides
DO NOT take 2P03. I thought this course would be informative and interesting, although it was the complete opposite. There was 0 effort by Hannah Holmes to make this course enjoyable as all she did was post long, boring slides and no practice questions for ANY quizzes or tests. By far the laziest and most useless professor I have had at McMaster.
Worst course ever. I took this course as an elective as I was interested in the subject matter. Hannah Holmes has not updated the material so the lecture content was mostly irrelevant. There are no lectures only unclear PowerPoint slides that you must read on own time. Exams was built for people to do poorly on. I think everyone failed the final.
The weightage for the final exam was like 45% and the questions were unnecessarily difficult. It was fill in the blanks, instead of MCQs making it 20 times harder than it needed to be. I would literally never recommend this course.
0/5 for hannah holmes. She did not explain things well. her tests always seemed like the entire thing was a curveball set for students to fail. did not seem like she cared about her students whatsover. in my personal opinion she did not offer resources for her students for help. do not recommend.
terrible prof who puts the bare minimum effort into all of her courses...
The class was a mixed bag. The textbook and videos were helpful, but the quizzes were unreasonably tough. Attendance is mandatory, and the professor's lectures weren't very engaging. Unstuck ai was a lifesaver for my study prep.
I took it in 2023 Winter and I heard it was a bird course, but trust me, it's not. I think the final exam with all fill-in-blank questions is extremely unfair. Especially some questions that asked you about a certain person's name or a specific event, which was meaningless and irrelevant to the course topics.
DO NOT take any classes she teaches you are tanking your average.
If you want to tank your average, take this course. I genuinely don't think I will ever have a worse professor in my life.
No lectures were provided, just incredibly boring, long slides littered with mistakes and miscalculations. The weekly quizzes give you hardly any time, and the long test was much more complex than the quizzes. She gives no practice problems but makes the exam 50 fill-in-the-blanks with no crib sheet.
she only tests unnecessarily hard to memorize details and every single dates or incidents dates you could easily look up on wikipedia. you think your gpa is too high? take this one
Lol this class was horrible it was literally just 100 slide lectures with horrible explanations, no videos, and barely any practice questions. All the tests are fill in the blank for some odd reason. The quizzes were easy but the midterm and the final lol good luck.
Worst professor I have ever had. Class was all online and all she provided was a single file with hundreds of papers/slideshows for the entire semester. When she finally responded to one of my emails it was unhelpful and straight up rude. She provided no office hours or support. Exams are difficult with no resources to prepare all fill in the blank
Do NOT take this class.
DO NOT TAKE 2P03. I thought this course would be an informative bird, boy was i wrong. Hannah Holmes puts in the absolute bare minimum effort while still managing to be rude in the few interactions i have had with her over email and through the 3 times she has posted on avenue throughout the semester. DONT TAKE.
Worst prof I've ever met. DONT! TAKE ! Econ 2P03 !!!
The best professor in the world.
Just gives you slides, then slams you with fill in the blank exams, what a joke, no guidance
Hannah Holmes is a lazy professor in my opinion. She only answers to emails from Monday to Thursday, has no actual lecture videos for any of her classes, and only uploads pdf lecture slides which are not very helpful for learning. She puts little efforts into her classes yet expects you to do well.
The class was a majority online. The weekly quizzes were a grade booster, but finishing 8 questions in 10 minutes was challenging. I did well on the midterm, but the class average was low. A lot of the midterm and final questions build on each other and everything is fill in the blank. Final was pretty brutal.
