Peach had an amazing personality! Extremely upbeat, and ready to go. I took her with methods 2 which I knew would be crazy intense but she made it bearable by giving us step by step instructions and all of her time and patience in order to help. She does give labs so you may better understand the many different kinds of studies available.
Class was very manageable, just keep an eye out on the due times. Follow examples! If you need clarification or help, ask for it! She is extremely personable and willing to help you as much as youll let her. I didnt find it to be any more demanding or stressful than a typical semester class. I HIGHLY recommend taking this class with Dr. Peach.
Great professor! She wants you to do well. She's very clear with her lectures and what she expects out of assignments. I highly recommend taking her, I would again!
She's a great teacher, very clear in lectures and willing to help students/answer questions but she is soooo annoying in class. Talks with her hands, shakes her hair around a lot, and uses a lot of weird voices which is EXTREMELY distracting. There is no homework and the exams are straightforward if you study the notes, which she gives you.
Dr. Peach is a really great professor. She answer e-mails really fast and is fair about grading. You have daily clicker "pop" quizzes on the readings, but they are only 5 questions and she replaces one of the lowest ones. Can miss two classes without getting penalized. Overall pretty easy class, test are straight forward. Recommend her!!
The best professor I've had. Very devoted and passionate about teaching, which makes her lectures so easy to keep up with. She is very approachable and is very pro-student. I learned a lot in the course because she engages students and makes lectures interesting and worth going to. Takes attendance, which is a great incentive.
I took her hybrid 1101 course. She taught about half of the time while other professors also filled in. The class is not very hard and if you study and do the work assigned you will do fine. She gives extra credit as well as drops your lowest exam grade. She is very upbeat and fun to listen to. Attendance is done with clicker questions.
Dr. Peach is a great lecturer! Very vibrant and well-spoken. This is a hybrid course, so the homework and tests are online. Participation is important because of the clicker points.
Took the hybrid into to psych with her. Extremely easy A as long as you do the work every week and go to class. You don't have to reach the chapters in the book, you don't even need the hard copy text book just an access code. She so nice lectures can be boring but notes are essential for the final, the only in class exam.
I took the hybrid psych class. All the tests are online the final which is in class. Highly recommend doing the three extra credit papers. They only need to be a page or so and are easy and can really boost your points since they are a max of 20 extra credit points each. Take this class if you can!
Dr. Peach is pretty clear with what is on tests, which, if you take the hybrid class, are all online. The only thing I didn't like about her was she is kind of hard to approach, but that is expected in a class of 300 students. GO TO CLASS. If you do not do well on the clicker questions, you won't do well in the class.
Very good introductory psych course. Learned a lot, would take another class with her!
This class has 3 online tests. One online test is dropped. The final exam is in-class. There are clicker questions in the lectures so you should attend class. I would say you should at least get a B in this class. Personally, I got a B in this class and I didn't even read the book really. I guess if I actually read each chapter, I will get an A.
I liked the class, but I didn't think the professor was helpful in anyway. She was pretty useless actually. I don't even think we need to have lectures for this class. It should just be 100% online instead of 50% online. Reading the textbook and doing the online assignments is the best way to learn in this class.
Dr. Peach really knows her stuff and she cares about her students. Go to class and if you're having trouble, go to office hours! She will help. I've had two classes with her and she's amazing! This class is tough, but she makes it seem like a breeze. Plus she's so cute!
Overall, she's a great professor with a well-rounded personality. Her clicker quizzes seem easy, and most of her tests are pretty straight forward.
Dr. Peach may just be the best professor in the department. She is encouraging and works hard so that her students get all the help they need in order to do well. People are always nervous about taking the course but she made it a breeze without any added stress. There are a lot of deadlines but if you keep up you will do fine!
Dr. Peach was an amazing teacher! Her lectures actually made sense and she gives out the notes prior to class so you can write on them. If you go to class everyday and pay attention you should easily make a B, but in order to make an A you just need to be able to apply the concepts(they're easy) so don't worry! Most respected teacher I've ever had!
Super sweet professor. Dr. Peach is very.. peachy! No matter how early, she is chipper and on her game. Just show up to class, listen, take notes, and interact, and you will do fine. I rarely studied and got a B.
This is the teacher to take! She will work with you until the very end. I def recommend her over any other research methods teacher
Dr. Peach substitutes involved discussions with rehearsed, almost as if read off a TelePrompTer , lectures. Her lectures are rarely as engaging as her guest speakers.
Dr. Peach is the best professor that I have ever had. Research Methods II is the hardest class you take in Psychology with a heavy workload and she makes it as easy as possible for her students. She is very helpful and she definitely cares about her students. She is a very upbeat person, making the class more bearable. Would recommend!
She did not teach a lot of the class, but had a lot of guest speakers which was cool because these are the people who have specialized in the different sections of psychology. Half of the class was online and it was a lot of work in a short amount of time.
She is one of the best professors I have had. It is not an easy A, however the tests go right off the powerpoint and there are many short answer questions. She makes it very doable to get an A and she wants you to succeed. Powerpoints are posted online but you have to go to class in order to fill in the blanks in the notes. I'm taking her again!
BEST CLASS EVER! RM II is one of the hardest classes at UNCC but it was a breeze with Dr. Peach!! She is so clear and helpful and really cares about all of her students! TAKE HER FOR RM II!!!
Dr. Peach is a good professor! But she has a lot of guest lectures so you never see her. The assignments online take HOURS! So prepare for that and it is due every week. If you don't go to class you'll get a 0 for poll questions. Which count a lot on your grade. (Or make a friend that doesn't skip class, they can tell you when the questions happen)
Professor Peach will answer any questions you have; however be prepared to READ READ READ. there is homework every single week, poll everywhere questions, Packback questions/answers, chapter quizzes, in-chapter quizzes (every section), SONA Research participation and 4 regular exams plus a final. the workload is INCREDIBLE. but not impossible.
Dr. Peach is highly recommended for RM II. :)
I took the hybrid class which was mostly online with one class meeting a week. You have to read a lot. I am not joking when I say A LOT. You will not do well on tests or quizzes if you do not read. It is a lot of work but most of the class is interesting and will keep you engaged.
The best lecturer Ive ever had. Shes so sweet and soooo pretty!! Classes were enjoyable and dont make you fall asleep!! Beware of guest lectures though, youll miss Dr. Peach!
Very sweet and means very well and is very kind one-on-one, however, a bit condescending towards the intro class as a whole, which I can understand since she knows so much about psychology and earned a Ph.D. As long as you read each chapter (a must to do well) and study ahead for the exams and the final, you should be fine. Very good lectures!
She is extremely passionate about RM2. Shes well respected and expects you to put in effort into her class. Shes a clear grader and gives extra credit. You have to work for an A but she is very understanding and gives great feedback. She wants her students to succeed and will help whenever needed. TAKE HER YOU WONT REGRET IT
She had guest speakers to teach the class (which was a hybrid so we only even met once a week) most of the time. We had more guest speakers than our actual professor on top of it she had someone else respond to our emails because her lectures are "too big" and her test covers like 6 long reading chapters of material.
This class was a hybrid, this course is ridiculously hard in the sense that all the test are online with a lock down browsers and you are recorded throughout the whole test. Guest lectures teach more than the actual professor and the test are ridiculously hard. Normally I am an A+ student and I have spent anywheres from 7-8 hours studying for test
Taking the Hybrid class. Dr. Peach may have done 4-5 lectures at most, she mostly has guests. She complains about being on your phone or laptop during class, but it doesn't matter if you attended every lecture and were very respectful. What you get on your grade is what you get. She refuses to round up, if you got 69.9 enjoy your D and retaking.
The tests are 100% harder than anything talked about in class or anything from the homework. The tests questions go into deep details about stuff you may have glanced over during the homework. Although I think all the Psyc1101 classes are like that. I took the hybrid.
She is extremely passionate about research, and does her best to relate important concepts to everyday life. She has a great way of connecting to the students as well. The deadlines she has set up are for our benefit. By the end of the class as long as you've done everything she has asked you'll get an A. DEFINITELY TAKE HER FOR RM2.
The class is pretty expensive paying for the modules , payback, and lockdown browser. Most of your work is on the computer do modules and thats where you will learn 100% of the course material. The tests are very specific and the class average was always low 70 Honestly not worth it cause it doesnt count as a science credit and its not an easy A
Dr. Peach seems like a great teacher, the only odd thing is that she only lectured for like 4/15 classes, the rest of the classes were guest lecturers. It was a tough class, and theres a lot of reading involved. I learned some interesting things but it definitely wasnt my favorite class.
This class was 50% online, so there was a lot of homework and reading. Lectures are pretty interesting, and sometimes a guest lecturer will come in and teach class. It's not an easy A, so don't take this class if you're not willing to put in some work.
It's a hybrid course so you get out what you get in. All things considered, she's a decent teacher even though we mostly had guest lecturers. Hard to reach
If you're looking to take this class as an easy science without a lab because you want an A, move on if you don't want to put in the work. This is a work-heavy class that you must try in if you want an A. Hannah Peach is a gem, but psychology felt like a waste of my time more often than not.
This was a hybrid class so we met in person once a week. We completed online modules and she was able to cover everything from the modules in a 1.5 hour lecture. She also drops the lowest grade from each category (test, module, homework, poll everywhere). She does complete a poll everywhere during each class but attendance isnt mandatory.
Peach is a pretty good prof, but (at least for me) Psychology is just difficult and her tests were pretty hard. The class average was always a C or below, but she did change the format of tests to have more questions from lectures which helped me on tests. Overall, pretty good prof, drops lowest test grade and 2 homeworks.
Her lectures are very interesting. Make sure to take good notes because 40% of the tests will come from the lecture. Theres poll everywhere questions, so make sure to come to class. Youll have to read around 3 modules each week and complete the learning curve activities, so dont procrastinate. Youll also have to do packback Q&As each week.
There is a lot of dedication for this class. The professor expects you to dedicate approximately 6 hours a week to her class studying. There are many fees to taking this course.
Very friendly and helpful. Good at keeping students engaged during lectures. Drops a lot of your lowest grades. The class is has many additional costs and requires many hours outside of lecture if you want to get an A.
I love Dr. Peach. Her lectures are clear and easy to follow, but they still get the information across that you need for the exams. Just make sure you do the readings and go to class, and as long as you complete all the assignments you'll do great.
Took this as a hybrid class. Sucks if you had to miss class bc of hard circumstances there are no exceptions. You have to show up in order to get participation credit and attendance was a lot of your grade. Tests are with the lockdown browser and the camera that tracks your eye mvmts. Hard tests! If you cant keep track of hw don't take hybrid!
Hated this class. Was mostly online. She taught a large lecture hall so we did not get much help from her outside of class.
Attendance is required if you want to get PollEverywhere credit for the day. I had a hybrid class (online and class meetings). You do have to pay for a textbook online that you have to read and basically get a lot of test questions from. We used respondus for tests at home. One positive thing is she gave A LOT of opportunities to help your grade.
Dr. Peach is super nice and very willing to help. Being an online class, I never got to interact with her face to face, but the online interactions I had were great. Drops the lowest test, the two lowest of every homework assignment, and provides chances for extra credit. If you do the reading and watch the lecture videos you'll do great.
Professor Peach is an amazing professor. Never had any personal interaction since it was an online class but she was an excellent communicator. Pretty clear on expectations and grading criteria. However, psychology is a dense field and so you should be prepared to read and do homework. If you put in the work and don't lag behind you'll be fine.
not too hard but definitely work intensive. prepare to read your textbook, watch lectures, take quizzes, discussion post and extra activities every week. kinda overwhelming and the exams can be hard. the professor is kind though but the material and work load is a lot.
There were a lot of small assignments every week but once you get into the groove of them they're very easy. The exams are difficult but not bad if you study in advance and enough. She is very responsive with emails and very helpful with topics you don't understand. I'd definitely take another class with her, though mine was self paced.
Dr. Peach has a good online system for covid. Every week we do learning curves, a quiz on the lecture and pack back questions and responses. There are 5 exams all together but your lowest exam grade is dropped. I will say the exams are hard so definitely study for them. Its some work but its consistent which I like.
She is one of the sweetest most passionate professors I have taken. I have taken her twice now and her classes are a bit work-heavy being PSYC classes but she gives you a lot of leniencies when it comes to dropping grades, good feedback, and plenty of grades. If you were are willing to study and are interest in PSYCH classes, I would take her.
I can't post what I originally wanted because I was over the word limit. Simply put AVOID THIS PROFESSOR AT ALL COSTS!
One of the best professors I had this semester. Very caring and is very knowledgeable. Lots of work but if you manage your time its really not that bad. Lowest grade on quizzes and exams get dropped. Very caring and always responsive to emails and questions. Very interesting class!!
This is the second course I took with Dr. Peach and I love her teaching style. She is fair about dropping some low assignments, but she definitely has her way of doing things. You need to keep up on assignments or it will pile up but she creates a helpful calendar for each class. I love this professor enough to take a third course with her.
5exams including the final which is on webcam lockdown browser. She'll drop your lowest exam, quiz, packback, and textbook assignment. The class really isn't that hard as long as you watch the lectures and do your work.
Lectures were fun and pretty entertaining. You do a discussion question each week which is just based on participation. Launchpad questions can be easily googled if you're not sure about an answer. Exams are difficult, but the lowest one is dropped, and they mostly come from the study guide she gives out a few days before. Not a bad class at all.
Great professor! She is very clear in her grading criteria and made the class interesting for an online class. There is a lot of homework, and doing well on the tests involve effective studying, but if you put in the effort, you will do well.
Lots of reading but it is actually interesting, easy A if you just put some effort in and you will actually learn valuable things that you could use in life. Lectures are pre-recorded so you can watch in your own time. Overall great class, I'd take it again.
I despise this class. There is so much reading and notes that you need to do that it completely takes the fun out of learning the material. All intro to psych professors have the same online course style I think since they all collab on lectures. If you're trying to get a science out of the way don't take psych it's just annoyingly hard.
This class was async. This class wasn't hard to keep up w/. The assignments were posted at the beginning & if you put in a little effort you can get it done every week. She puts up a lot of study & review options before tests. The book is online & the assignments you can get done easily. Keep up w the SONA assignments, they're required & not hard
Research Methods II is HARD. Do not let this be lost on you when planning your semester. Its the hardest class in the Psychology major. You write constantly and end up with a 25ish page paper at the end of the semester. But Dr. Peach is great. She makes this class enjoyable and is truly a caring professor who is organized and gives good feedback.
Dr. Peach was absolutely amazing this semester. She counts attendance and although it doesn't weigh much, it is still important to show up to class! Our big assignment for the year was a research paper that she broke up into so many different sections throughout the semester. She even gave a lecture about graduation plans to help us out! 10/10
I honestly did not try in this class and was extremely close to a B. It looks like there is a lot of homework due every week, but it's all easy and mainly participation-based. Make sure to do the SONA research assignment, it's just survey questions and it doesn't take very long. Tests aren't hard, just look over the study guide before taking it.
Dr. Peach made her class clear and concise. Read the textbook and review the learning curves. An A is achievable if you put the effort in.
I wish I could take Dr. Peach for every single class. She makes the content fun and engaging, and she really cares about her students. She is definitely my fave prof.
Her class doesn't mention it before you sign up, but it's basically an online class. You can find everything you need (textbook, links to PackBack etc.) in Canvas, along with a structured weekly schedule. There are 4 exams online, but you have to use Lock Down Browser for each one (if you're happy with your first 4 exams, you can skip the final).
I absolutely adored Dr. Peach. She was one of my favorite professors of this semester and really fostered an interest in Health Psychology within me. I found the course material and the was she presented it to be interesting. Although she gives a lot of homework (online quizzes and discussion posts) its doable. Studying for the exams is a must.
This class just required a lot and the exams were & material you have to learn is just heavy. Absolutely hated it, one of the worst classes I have taken. I would not recommend!
Can't recommend Prof. Peach enough. Research Methodology is one of the most challenging courses a Psych major can take, but Professor Peach will make this course feel so much less stressful and will guide you through each individual step of the research process. She separates the project into parts and gives plenty of time. Best professor I've had.
Be prepared to teach the material to yourself, lectures were only optional extra credit and were not on the material. This course is very difficult and test-heavy, be prepared to have a ton of assignments due in the same week. I would not recommend this class.
Tests include some questions from the quizzes. Just have to read the book and watch the lectures . Lot of dropped assignments including 1/5 tests. Simple class.
A ton of reading and a ton of homework. She is a huge fan of Respondus and if you sneeze or look at the webcam in the wrong way there is a good chance she can give you a 0 because she thinks you are trying to cheat. I've never spent so much time on one class before and never had so much stress before.
Love psych but would've enjoyed it more if it was in person and not fully online, especially since it didn't say it would be basically all online and on our own time. Dr Peach is so nice and loves psychology, she is super nice. Heavy textbook reading. Video lectures. Discussion posts
If you are trying to knock out science, I would not recommend this class. Dr.Peach was great however, the exams were very tough. I ended up with an 89.58 and sadly, my grade was not rounded. We watched recorded lectures and had weekly assignments. We also had to earn 2 SONA research credits. The information was interesting but, exams were difficult
This class was very much boring. The online textbook was boring. The tests had materials for the video lectures and the text book. Lockdown browser with webcam is used. Theres five exams in total. You have to actually study if you want to keep a nice grade. Didnt really care for the class and made a B.
Dr. Peach's class was a good intro to psychology. Her grades were fair, but there were a lot of assignments each week. Her lectures were optional, but they offered extra credit for attendance, but the lectures had absolutely nothing to do with the class.
PSYC 1101 is not just taught by Hannah Peach. The course is made up of lecture videos taught by different speakers.
DO NOT take this class as a gen ed science course. This class is ridiculous in the amount of reading you have to do each week. The lectures are required but do not help cover the material. If you take this class, be prepared to do hours of reading each week and extremely difficult tests. If you don't study or do the work, you will not do good.
We have a new teacher every week because she likes to "switch out professors" but honestly it just makes learning really hard and inconsistent. Also the class average for her tests are usually 62% and she does POLL EV's for every single class.
She is so nice and actually keeps you interested during lectures.
Professor Peach is very nice but the way the class works is there are different professors who come in and give lectures. It's a lecture class of almost 300 but attendance is still taken and if you don't go, your grade goes down. Everything is fairly easy, with light homework, and the tests are just extremely hard and long.
Extremely boring class but an incredibly easy class. Required attendance through Poll Ev. Each week 3-6 online homework mini quizzes. Tests are pretty easy and the lowest is dropped. Just study a day or two before and you'll be fine. Shes very annoying but you'll get through.
Professor Peach was truly exceptional! She was knowledgeable, engaging, and passionate about psychology, which made the class both interesting and enjoyable. The tests were challenging, but fair, and she was always available to answer questions and provide guidance. Would definitely recommend!
Dr Peach is very caring and will help you with any questions outside of class. If you need someone to tell you more about Psychology Major itself or if you are stressed about any other classes, go talk to her! Her classes are not hard but you absolutely have to read textbook and watch lectures. I got a B because I prioritized my social life.
This class was very exam-heavy, focusing on material that covered so many different things. The amount of homework plus research credit allows you to have a fallback even if you average bad grades on all exams. Multiple different grades are dropped including the lowest exam grade. Way too much for an intro psych class.
Dr. Peach is alright. I had her for a psychology lecture, and it was mainly very boring. Her lectures were not attendance mandatory, she actually didn't even teach about psychology in her lectures, just gave us homework and life tips sponsored by the school. It was an alright class, take it if you have to I guess.
Terrible instructor. There was so much course material and the tests were extremely difficult and confusing. I took a hybrid class with her and NONE of the in-person lectures followed the material. An assignment I had wouldn't go through in the grading system, I emailed her and she accused it of daylight savings and refused to change it.
The exams were honestly difficult, but it's hard to do badly in the class because the homework makes up for it. Attendance is done via poll everywhere. The homework was so much reading, and she doesn't necessarily go back over the information in class, so only covers bits and pieces
It is a guided individual research project with a final report submission. Take it if you interested in doing research, otherwise take an alternative course about understanding how to read scientific articles, PSYC2104 Critical Thinking About Research. It is a tough course but Dr. Peach is very helpful and caring. She is always available to help.
Truly do not understand why the rating is so high. Nice person, but in a fake nice way. Acts as if everything is "Peachy" until she fails you at the last minute. Don't expect her to go above and beyond to help you in any shape or form. Would NOT recommend. Instructors for 2104 are much better.
This class was so test heavy and the tests came out of the test reviews and were very weird. She is a nice person but be sure to do really well on each exam because thats where the majority of ur grades are based. Also attend lectures because she asks random questions from previous lectures in her tests.
As a lecturer, Professor Peach is great! I love how she conducts lectures and the coursework is easy if you don't fall behind (like myself). However, she does employ a flipped classroom model, which may be a turnoff for some.
Dr Peach is an amazing professor, but RM II is a hard class and will make you put the work in. She is very helpful. She is a tough grader on papers but she does give great feedback.
Dr. Peach is a great professor with a passion for the material, and teaches it well. Research Methods II is broken up into modules that, when completed on time, make it easier. If you need help, just ask. No artificial difficulty. Extra credit is given a few times so students have an opportunity to make up for any work that fell short.
While I did enjoy Dr. Peach's lectures, and found it an entertaining class, it was not easy. There is a lot of homework, but it's not too difficult as long as you keep up with it. My only issue was the tests. I studied so much for each test, yet the tests were nothing like the study guides and random. They were extremely difficult to pass.
I enjoyed her teaching but there was a lot of work for this class and a lot of memorization involved.
This class should be taken over the summer or when you don't have a lot of content heavy courses because this course is extremely content/reading heavy. You will be reading and taking notes on 100+ pages every week. Then you will have quizzes on all of the reading. She does not accept any late work for any reason so be prepared.
There's nothing wrong with Dr. Peach, but this is one of the hardest and most content ridden classes I've taken so far. There's a lot of reading and homework assignments and almost none of it is on the test. It's just a hard class overall, but I would probably take it with Dr. Peach. She's quick, concise and gets to the point in every lecture.
This class is HARD. Class size was 300 ppl so you basically have to teach yourself all the content. Requires a lot of memorization and reading. Even when I would study for weeks, I was still disappointed by my test grade--and this is coming from someone with a photographic memory. My advice-- read the textbook and do all of the buffer assignments.
This class is VERY content heavy, be prepared to do lots of reading and studying. Attendance is required and it would be beneficial for your grade to attend. Tests are 50 questions, with lots of topics so STUDY, STUDY, STUDY. If you do well on the first three exams then you don't have to take the 4th one. Very sweet professor, large class though.
She isn't necessarily a bad professor, it's just the way her class is laid out. "Flipped classroom", she didn't really teach to be honest, she just re-told what we learned by ourselves from recorded lectures from other professors. A lot of work throughout the week, no rounding up in grading. Nice person, but the quality of her class isn't good imo.
Dr.Peach was a great teacher. I would say that for this class I had to teach myself as we only met once a week and she did not cover all the material. The test seem to be very different from the study guides that were provided.
Very nice and understanding professor but you will have to read and study a lot in order to be successful, just attending lectures are not enough.
Very easy grade as long as you do the work, professor is very nice
Dr. Peach is very sweet, but this class was way too difficult in my opinion. Her assignments are easy, but tests are the only thing that really matter. I did the study guides and review sessions for test, but they never seemed to help me out. The tests are extremely difficult and covers so much content in such little time.
Dr. Peach is a very helpful professor. She breaks down RM2 in a very understandable way. If you keep up with the work, use the samples, and follow the rubric you should do fine. Even if you have trouble choosing a research topic or coming up with ideas, she is more than willing to help you every step of the way. It is a tough class, but fun!
Great professor, very passionate about the subject. She also is easier to pay attention too and has a good teaching style. She also drops lowest grades. The only thing is, her exams are really hard. I got a 100 on every classwork/homework, but never above a C on the exams.
Puts on this "sweet and caring" persona to cover up how her class is run. Her tests are impossible and her lectures would cover very little of what is actually on her tests. Her "all-or-nothing" policy is also ridiculous, and she doesn't make that clear with her assignments. Avoid at all costs, please.
Doing too much
She should have actually taught a lot more of the material than she did
She managed to turn the most interesting subject into the most non-interesting subject. Her tests were way beyond what was taught in class. When more than half of the class is failing a test, it's not on us, it's on HER and her lack of ability to teach. I'm convinced that she takes joy in failing students. If you're thinking about taking her, don't
Dr.Peach is a nice professor but the course can be tricky especially since we only meet once a week. Tests were pretty heavy and hard, lowest one does get dropped. Attendance is mandatory since that is how you get your participation points. Overall interesting course but really hard when it comes to those tests.
Dr. Peach is a nice professor. The exams, though, were way too difficult for the content we learned in class. Attendance is important, but you can miss 2 classes without your grade suffering. The in-class activities were engaging. My main problem was with the difficulty of the exams and how heavily they affect the final grade.
Can't stand
The first exam is by far the worst, but it gets easier after that once you learn your method of studying. LOTS of material to know per exam. She is very charismatic, I chuckle a few times per class and its easy to pay attention. The lectures do feel kind of useless since we touch on very little material that we actually read for the week.
Her lectures are actually interesting and engaging, and the classwork isn't hard. The issue is her tests. Exams aren't on what you learned in class but on psychology's most uninteresting topics. You'll learn the importance of sleep one day and never see it on the test which primarily tests useless vocab memorization that's barely in the textbook.
Professor Peach is a very nice professor, but I felt that the assignments and study guides she gives us don't prepare the entire exam. There are only a few parts that will be useful for the exam from the study guides but other than that, you need to try to memorize the whole textbook online that you read.
You're basically teaching most of the information due to it being a hybrid class. one lecture a week which she basically rambles and shows a slide show. if you do the learning curve assignments and watch the lecture videos you basically dont have to pay attention to the lectures. easy class overall but people dont like that she doesn't lecture.
Its a testing class. The other assignments dont matter since they wont change your grade at all. So if youre a bad test taker dont take this class. The lectures are just her rambling and a slideshow that has nothing to do with the test. You need to memorize everything in the textbook because her tests are on niche topics. TA Study guides dont help.
If you think psychology is an easy class, think again. Her course work is not difficult but the tests are the hardest. Nothing related to the lectures or the exam study guides are related on the tests. There is no late work policies either. Overall she is a good professor, but if you do not study for the exams, you will do poorly in her class.
The reviews are scary about Peach. While most of them are true... this is what you need to do; 1. GO TO CLASS. 2. Do the PollEverywhere's for attendance credit 3. Dont read the chapters she assigns- its a waste of time 4. Do your canvas work before class (if its on Wednesday like I had) 5. If you do all your work and bomb tests- you'll pass :D
If you are planning to take PYSC1101, DO NOT TAKE Hannah Peach. Her class is almost entirely busy work, the lectures are boring, and most of the learning is expected to be self-taught by watching videos or reading the textbook. What's worse is that the exams are created so that the majority of the students fail. I suggest taking another professor.
Lots of easy busy work but extremely hard tests with a lot of information to remember. Learning through just watching slides and then its test time.
Highly recommend taking Dr. Peach for RM2. Research methods 2 is a really difficult class with a lot of writing, stats labs, and research, but Dr. Peach and the TAs were extremely beneficial. Grading/feedback was clear, lectures are engaging and relevant, and she really helps with your research project. Dr. Peach is really kind
Tests are extremely difficulty , study guide was completely useless. Assignments given to students weight little and nothing compared to the 3 tests given throughout the course including the final exam. Your best hope at passing this class is miserably reading over each and every word and sentence in the textbooks provided to you. DON'T TAKE CLASS!
Professor Peach is a great instructor for Health Psych. There are many assignments you get graded on, she drops some of your low class assignment grades. The lectures were informative, she has recorded lectures if you can't make it to class. She is kind and funny, her grading policy is very fair, but she does use the LockDown Browser for tests.
Horrible professor. This course is graded entirely off of 3 tests including the final, so whatever grade you get on those tests determines how you'll do in the class. Lectures were useless, other assignments aren't even weighted into your grade as much, and she doesn't care if you have an 89.99 in the class she still won't give you extra credit.
All imma say is if you want a professor that sets you up for failure by not preparing you ahead of time in class for exams, is extremely passive aggressive, and intentionally makes the class hard to pass when it should be much more easy, then professor Peach is definitely the teacher for you😤.
Dr. Peach has designed the class where it's hard to fail but if you want an A or care about your GPA, then please listen- DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. I came from a no psych background and I figured if I studied for this class like any other difficult course then I would be fine. Nope. Worst of all there were no review or study guides.
I don't like how unempathetic she is, I feel like she could give some leniency. I ended with an 89.6 and she chose not to round up despite everything I was going through.
Dr. Peach was amazing for health psych. Seems like she is tough in 1101 to weed people out. She really knows what she is talking about though, and though her lectures are long, they are well-informed. Just use the study guide for the exams and you should be fine. If you do not watch lectures, you won't pass her exams. Easy HW assignments otherwise
Dr. Peach's class can be tricky, with tough tests that don't always align with the material. However, attendance and participation help boost your grade. Unstuck ai was a lifesaver for study prep.
Dr. Peach was a good professor, but the course material is heavy, and you have to read the textbook and look over key terms to be successful on the tests which are pretty hard.
Lectures are not super engaging but textbooks are strangely. Her lectures are almost never really related to what you're learning in terms of the textbook. I don't know if that makes sense. Homework is easy though.
if you are not majoring in psychology, this is not the class for you.
Dr. Peach is tough but fair. She knows her stuff! Her lectures are very in depth, and you have to read the book to pass the tests. She does not accept any late work for any reason, and does not grant extensions or round up. I wouldn't say the class was very hard, but you have to work for it.
Not a good professor at all! Does knot now how to grade and is not understanding at all! Her whole personality is bad vibes and tries way too hard for research methods. You cannot get a good grade unless you spend hours on hours on stuff. DO NOT TAKE HER!
Dr. Peach is a great professor. Attendance is mandatory, but coming to class is enjoyable because of her engaging personality and the anecdotes she throws in. Lectures are clear, tests are fair if you use her practice resources, and homework is manageable. She's strict on deadlines but truly cares and stays after class to help anyone who needs it.
I was sick and she wouldn't let me reschedule my exam.
Non-traditional student here. This course is mainly self taught (Hybrid). You have to read the book, highlight and take notes to pass the exam. In class lecture is not what is on the exam. The videos she's posts are time wasting. If you read the textbook, study the content you will pass easily. I opted for the paperback edition of the book.
I want miss peach at my wedding. Love her my favorite professor ever. good at lecturing.
She's a nice person but her class is very hard. No matter how hard you study, you will not get an A on the tests. Maybe a B, but not an A. It's extremely hard to get an A in this class, so don't take it if your looking for and easy class/grade. I know about 10 people in the class and no one has above a B-. 3 tests, lots of homework, attendance.
Do not take Professor Peach. She requires attendance and uses poll everywhere. During lectures she covers the easy content. The tests are extremely difficult, you are not going to be prepared for the tests even if you study. You have to go to the psychology testing center to take the tests. Not worth it. She seems nice but it is all an act.
Lots of homework for an entry level course. The first two test averages were a 48 and a 54, and nobody got a A on the first test out of 200 people, and the second test had a highest of 90. That shouldn't happen no matter how much the tests are worth. She's nice but having test grades that low and being okay with that is ridiculous.
Professor Peach is nice and her lectures are engaging, however she covers almost no content during her lectures. Most of the content on the exams is learned from the textbook. You will have 5-8 learning curve assignments due weekly along with a packback that take very little time and are completion-based. Attendance is taken with poll ev.
I took her psych lab and it was pretty easy. You pretty much have two skips without it changing your grade. You will always have atleast one in class activity where you are required to work with others. Overall it wasn't bad and she's a good teacher
I took research methods II with Dr. Peach which entails a complete research project. She is incredibly supportive throughout the process and gives great feedback throughout your paper being written, however she can be a very harsh grader.
There are at least 5 homework assignments due every week, this includes text book quizzes and discussion board submissions and comments. Her lectures barely cover the topics for the unit tests, so you will have to thoroughly read the textbook to be successful in the course. She offers no flexibility in late or missing work.
I really enjoyed Dr. Peach's class! She's tough and strict on timelines, but she's very fair. If you just do the work, you'll do well.
ridiculously hard for what is only a gen ed for most people
Finished the first test with tears in my eyes. I read the textbook chapters, recorded lectures, and study guides, and completed extra questions on the Learning Modules; however, I didn't recognize half of the test questions. I enjoy Peach as a professor, but the workload and difficulty of the class are insane for an 1101.
Doesn't teach any material for exams
Honestly not a bad person she's very kind. But I don't like her teaching methods and it's hard to retain knowledge when we have a test every week.
One of the easiest classes i've taken. Read the textbook + TAKE VOCAB NOTES. Most of the tests are vocab heavy and less "material" heavy. Doesn't go over much in the lectures so study at home—it's not that hard. Lowest grades dropped even lowest exam so no late work accepted. Averaged a B in exams, ending the semester with an A
She is a good professor, but the content is very hard and basically reads over slides during lectures. Not much help to prepare for exams which are a huge part of the grade.
This class was awful. She barley teaches and you will basically have to teach yourself everything. I would not take this class with her at all.
Very textbook heavy. The class is set up for you to pass as long as you get everything done on time and make a bit of an effort to study vocab. Lowest test grade is dropped so skipping the final is an option. Peach is very nice and it's clear she's passionate about teaching. Would definitely take her again just in a different class format.
She's really nice but she doesn't know how to break material down to an understandable level for a beginner. Her grading system is nice because as long as you do the assignments, you get a 100 and she drops your two lowest grades on everything but tests. Tests are extremely hard even with extensive studying.
She is a very sweet woman and easy to talk to. In her lectures she only covers the bare minimum and you will learn most of the knowledge you need for the exams from the learning curves and the flashcards that the TA posts. She dose not know how to break the course material down for those who have no experience in Psychology.
She's very nice but doesn't know how to break down the lectures in an understandable way. You mainly learn from vocab words the TA posts and not the lectures or the learning curves. But if you do all the assignments and really study the vocab from the TA, you'll be okay. It's pretty easy to pass her class but lowkey I didn't learn anything lol.
Give lots of homework but is very easy. Test are very hard and have study everything on the textbook to be to understand anything in the tests. I studied for 8 hours a day and stil recived at 78 as my highest grade. You have to come class and particpaion is a grade. Overall needs to better at giving test questions that are condiracting.
DO NOT TAKE HER! She's inconsiderate of personal circumstances. She will not work with you if you miss stuff bc of personal stuff, even if it's dealing with Title IX. The exams are crazy hard- the mean for every exam was around 50. Her lectures barely help and you don't learn much from the online work. I would avoid taking her class if you can.
Attendance is mandatory. The material you learn in class seems very easy and then the exams are nothing like it. But the material isn't too bad to study. Professor also has a bad attitude if things don't go her way.
