If you need to take Anatomy, take it with Dr. Beck because his tests are straightforward. The material is hard but he makes things easy to understand and is very helpful. He uses PowerPoint, which is really helpful in studying, especially since he can't really pronounce anything. Anyone who just says he was a bad teacher didn't get the material.
He was very helpful in class. Tried to make sure you got all possible points and that you would succeed in the class. Test were straight forward. Labs were long but he came around and helped and quizzed you on the material. Which helped in understanding the material
Dr. Beck doesn't teach Zoo but he had to fill in for my teacher for a few classes. He was excellent. I don't have a whole semester to base him on but I will definately take A&P with him.
Awesome Professor. I would not take another professor. He is very helpful in explaining the material and is willing to help any of his students. He always has an answer for every question. I would take another class with him if offered.
he was an excellent teacher. The tests were fair and he basically tells you what is going to be on them if you pay attention. The material is rough and the labs are pretty hard.. Study up and you will be fine.
THIS TEACHER IS AN A****, PARDON MY LANGAUGE. I DONT HAVE HIM BUT I WENT TO HIS OPEN LAB AND HE WAS THE WORST OPEN LAB TEACHER EVER..."IT'S FRIDAY AFTERNOON WHAT ARE YOU GUYS DOING HERE." INSTEAD OF HELPING STUENTS, HE IS ALWAYS ON HIS LAPTOP GOD KNOWS DOING WHAT. NEVER ANSWERED ANY OF MY SNGLE QUSTIONS. INSTEAD HE GAVE ME PCITURES TO STUDY FROM.
Tough class, but he makes it easier. Gives a lot of extra credit, which makes a huge difference in your grade. He tends to be a little rude sometimes, but he's probably the easiest teacher for BIOL 213. Don't bother touching the book. Just study everything from the powerpoint.
He did a great job at helping us understand the material. His tests are straight forward and he almost tells you the questions ahead of time. Definately take Mammalogy with him when it is offered. He honestly was my favorite Prof. in 4 years at Towson, really.
Excellent. Loves the subject. Created his own Mammalogy notes reflecting his knowledge/enthusiasm. Wants you to understand concepts, not details that you'll never remember. If you care, he will. If you're lazy/not interested, he won't share his time with you. Invaluable class for animal biologists or vet preparation!
3 lectures, 2 lab exams. finals for each. don't have to read the book, slides for both parts. lots of extra credit. good professor.
he pretty much tells you what is going to be on the tests, but its a lot so you really have to study A LOT. its not a class you can get by not studying. i would take him again.
Tropical Field Ecology in PERU!!- amazing country. Dr Beck helped make this trip the opportunity of a lifetime. The trip was well planned and broadened my perspective of what a "learning experience" truly is. Dr Beck is passionate about the tropics, and it shows through. Worth every penny. And to think, i almost didnt sign up for it!
Dr. Beck is probably the best A&P teacher at towson. he more or less tells you what is on the test and you only need to study what is on the powerpoints in class. he gives alot of EC and his tests are very fair/easy. i would take him again in a second!
Hes a very nice teacher. I love his sound affects. I really didn't try at all in this class and got a C+. if you try, an A is very easy to get. I don't recommend arguing with him, you wont win, but he will laugh about it with you. ppt is online which is good for studying. in lab, take a digital camera and lap top it helps!!
It was a great class. Dr. Beck knows the material and makes everything crystal clear. Plus, the class was a lot of fun, never dull. All of his lectures were on ppt and anytime I needed help he was readily available. Great instructor!
This class, tropical ecology in Peru was my favorite class taken so far in my undergrad. He is very helpful with understanding what you should consider when doing research and what to include in your research paper. This was a very educational and exciting class. Take it and bring lots of mosquito repellent, and be in shape!
Awesome teacher! Very helpful. Class is not easy and you def need to study but professor Beck makes it easier. Lets you know exactly what will be on the exam and always available if you need extra help. Really wants students to do well and genuinely cares about you.
Awesome class, biological research in the Amazon and seeing cities like Lima and Cusco and others. Grade is basically on your research which he is more than willing to help you with, and participation which is a given or you'd be left behind. He prepares you well for the trip- make sure you're in decent shape though (lots of hiking included)!!!!!
This class, Intro to tropical ecology in Peru is probably the best class offered at Towson. Dr. Beck is the man. He is fun, helpful, and knowledgeable. If you are interested in ecology, animals, plants, or field research you will love this class! Be prepared to hike a lot and enjoy the biodiversity
Best teacher I have ever had!! One of the hardest classes I've had to take but Dr.Beck is a very fair teacher. He is knowledgeable on the subject and enjoys teaching it. He is also a lot of fun and very willing to help if you need any sort of help. I highly recommend taking this class with him.
Such a great teacher! He definately loves his job & knows what he is talking about! Class was very hard, & you definately need to study A LOT but he tells you what you need to study & is willing to help you with anything! Flexible office hours, & he might even be flexible with open labs! Gives very fair exams...I would definately take him again!
Dr. Beck is awesome! Tons of material but he keeps it interesting through his powerpoints. I didnt take any notes in this class and still did well. For the exams just study the main points on the slides and you will do fine. Very fun and interesting class. As long as you pay attention and go over the slides for exams you will do great!
An excellent professor with a knack for teaching. He is interested in students doing well. Dr. Beck is easily the best A&P professor Towson has to offer.
Wonderful class... Travel through Peru and do research in the Amazon! It was a life changing experience for me... Dr. Beck is a great guy and is extremely knowledgeable... If you're ADD, I suggest bringing an ipod, yoyo, chinese finger traps, etc.... Lots of travel...
Best teacher A&P has to offer. He's a cool and funny guy and makes anatomy as interesting as it possibly could be. Makes outlines for each chapter making it easy to follow the lectures. Have to study a good amount for the tests but the questions are very fair and he's extremely willing to help. I'd recommend him to anyone. Love you Harald.
Dont take him unless you are willing to teach all the informationg to yourself. All he does is put up a million ppts and reads from them. DOESNT TEACH ANYTHING. When i asked him for help he told me to find a study group. I had a 65 in the end and the **** failed me. DONT TAKE HIM.
This class is extremely difficult. You must study in order to make the grades but Dr.Beck tells you that from the beginning. He is a good professor who is willing to help but really it comes down to if you put effort in or not.
Hard work necessary but absolutely worthwhile. Dr. Beck's teaching style is phenomenal, covering the material quite rapidly without losing the class, clarifying questions readily, utilizing images and text and elaborating upon it. One of the best classes ever.
Dr. Beck is a great professor and is really passionate about the subject. This is the 1st class that did not have a book and I actually learned more than most of my classes with books. he really presents the material clearly and it is more about understanding concepts than memorizing the info. Hope you can draw if you take this class
Very difficult to get an A and be prepared to work incredibly hard if that's the grade you're gunning for, Dr Beck has incredibly high standards for everything. But very interesting class, learned a whole lot, and would definitely recommend it. Dr Beck is always willing to answer your questions and makes himself available
Anatomy is a very hard class in general, so be prepared from the very start to study a lot. Dr. Beck knows what he's talking about and is willing to answer questions. Try not to miss labs or lectures because the material is very intensive.
Dr. Beck was AWESOME!! this class is very hard no matter what professor you take. TAKE HIM IF YOU NEED TO TAKE ANATOMY! he wants his students to do very well so he'll give lots of extra credit and curve exams that students dont do well on. tries to make class fun. TAKE HIM!!! you will get a better grade in his class than any other professor's class
Dr. Beck is the greatest professor ever. He's funny, intelligent, likable, and just a really nice guy...The material is hard but I did well because I studied hard and paid attention to lectures. Also, Harald is a total BABE!
Dr. Beck is an amazing professor! If you have to take bio 213 be sure to take it with him. He cares about his students and wants everyone to do well, he is always willing to meet with you after hours to explain all your questions. The exams are fair but you have to study hard. Makes an extremely hard class fun and engaging. Best teacher ever!!!!!!!
TAKE HIM!!! awesome anatomy teacher.
This is a VERY HARD CLASS, but Dr. Beck is very fair. He tells you exactly what you need to know, he's willing to work with you outside of class, he gives extra credit, curves tests that the class does badly on. He genuinely wants his students to pass and do well, but YOU have to put in a lot of effort in order to do so.
The Beckster is the man. You only have to use the book to further your knowledge but he clarifies everything in class. Study hard and you'll do great on his tests that are very fair. I took this class twice before with other Professors and got a D+ and a W. He made me want to apply myself and I left with an A. Take Beck and you'll be golden.
This professor LECTURES during LAB! He is helpful when you ask, but when he is explaining the material you WILL be lost and confused. He does not use the Anat lab manual Towson sells at the bookstore. He uses his own slides, so don't bother purchasing.
Dr. Beck is a great anatomy teacher I highly recommend him, he tells you exactly what he wants you to know for the test and explains everything clearly in his hand outs and power point
Dr. Beck is extremely clear with his expectations, he curves tests, explains things in terms you can understand, and is very approachable. From day 1 he lets you know that you CAN succeed in A&P if you work with the material every day. He was right. Work with him and you will do well! Definitely take him for lab or lecture!
Dr. Beck is an excellent anatomy teacher, i would highly recommend him for anyone interested in taking anatomy lab or lecture. he explains everything clearly in class and on his power points. his test are far and pretty straight forward. he is always willing to help during office hours and very approachable.
Awesome professor! His powerpoints and handouts explain everything you need to know, textbook isn't needed. Start reviewing from day 1 and you will do fine. Took him for lab and lecture and it was a great experience, learned a lot! TAKE HIM.
His tests are absurd. Got an A in biol 190 and chem 121 and a C in this class. Studied all the time. He makes everything much harder than it should be and he is hard to understand
Dr. Beck is the man. He is funny and passionate about the tropics. He explains the material very quickly, but quickly. He reinforces broad topics instead of minor details. At the beginning of almost every lecture he did a quick review of the previous lecture material, which was very helpful. He is the best bio prof I ever had at Towson.
This class was a blast. I definitely plan on going on the tropical field ecology trip next summer.
Dr. Beck is incredibly enthusiastic, clear, & fun to listen to. Get to class on time because he starts lecturing immediately. Posts slides online, no book, 2 very short papers, 1 group project & 1 presentation. You will learn A LOT in this class, but tests are very fair & labsfield trips are fun (zoo & mammal trapping). In my top 3 fav. professors
Failed A&P with another professor. Have gotten A on majority of tests & practicals with this professor. EXTREMELY NICE & very down to earth. Very funny lecture teacher. BIO221 is a lot of work with any professors. PUT IN THE TIME YOURSELF. He does everything in his power to make this class as digestible as possible. DEFINITELY TAKE FOR LAB!!!!!
His exams are fair as long as you study. He wants everyone to do well and encourages you to go to him for help. Anatomy is a difficult class, but he makes it as clear and easy as possible
Tough exams which are your only grades for the class. I put in an extreme amount of time into this class and only ended up with a B- which was higher than the class average for the semester. Wants you to do well, powerpoints are helpful, textbook not necessary.
Dr. Beck is an amazing professor! He is knowledgeable about the subject, enthusiastic, and entertaining! Criteria for grading is very straightforward and he is willing to help if you are experiencing any difficulties understanding the material. Would certainly take again.
Obviously you need to study for this class. But Beck posts the PPTs on BB and they're easy to understand. He's tough on the 3 exams, very interpretive q's instead of plain and simple. STUDY the material. Go to class if you don't want to learn it on your own. He's funny and odd. I don't know if I'd take him again. But he makes it interesting.
He posts great PPTs and videos online to help you memorize the structures you need to know. If you use the material he makes available to you and go to at least one open lab a week, you'll do fine. It isn't really something you can put off until the night before, because you need to know functions, locations, and names of 70+ things each practical
Take a different professor for AP lab if you can. Entire grade is out of 3 tests and 3 quizzes. There are only 2 extra credit questions/ test. Other professors give more chances for extra cred and have quizzes every week (more total points so easier to get the grade you need). Lectures for most of lab. I was only one question shy of getting a C.
I had Dr. Beck for Biol 221L and he was an awesome professor and cares a lot about his students. He's really easy to talk to and I'm not very fond of talking in class but he makes it easy and comfortable to talk. He lectures kind of fast but he goes around to each table to make sure everyone understand the criteria. Take him if you have the option
I took Beck for lab and I would definitely recommend him. This lab is a lot of work and studying no matter who you take, and he does a great job of explaining things and giving you time to short out the information during class. He is really sweet and wants his students to do well. Take him!
Anatomy is a hard class but Beck was really looking out. Four exams, including the final but he has lots of extra credit and cares about his students. I would definitely take him again! He is really kind and the powerpoints are very helpful. The class does require heavy studying, but thats anatomy for you. GREAT professor!
Only grades are 3 exams and the final, plus some extra credit. Lecture power points are posted online, as well as handouts that just reiterate his lecture info. Posts a review ppt for each exam as a study guide. Study the physiology and processes! No homework assignments, just be sure to study study STUDY! Goes to the gym after lectures
TAKE PROFESSOR BECK IF YOU HAVE THE CHANCE!! There are only three exams and one final. The exams can get tricky, but be sure to study how things work (so their physiology). He keeps you engaged during lecture and he has a great sense of humor. I would take him again! A&P is a hard class in itself, but Beck makes it as easy to understand as possible
Professor Beck was a good instructor I only had him for lab. Some of the class was hard (its expected its anatomy). He helped out a lot throughout the semester and his power points were detailed and had all information needed.
ATTENTION: He's not a good professor. 1. no extra credit except on test not enough to help boost the grade. 2. he does not explain anything except the not important things 3. he is virtually hard to understand. if it wasn't for SI and my study group I would not have the grade that i got. I suffered over the entire semester! DO NOT TAKE HIM!
He changed the syllabus a lot. He never offered extra credit. There are many other professors who offer EC papers, scantron points, or final forgiveness. His test also made you feel like you do not know anything. I was more upset about how he crammed over 100 slide in 30 min and wasted time. Honestly prepared for the uphill battle.
He rushed through many powerpoints. Basically half of the class failed each exam. He does not offer any extra credit that could make your grade any better. His test were also extremely hard and assumes lab material should be test on lecture exams. He constantly made comments on how it was easy but told people how bad they were.
Uploaded a syllabus at the beginning of the semester but changed it so many times it was useless. Went through the last 2 units extremely fast and a majority of the class ended up failing the tests, but refused to help. I put a lot of time into this class and still really struggled. Take another professor who doesn't rush and offers extra credit.
I certainly do not recommend him. I was super excited going into last semester with the great reviews he had, but it was a bust. Although not mandatory, I attended every lecture, even on a day that I was extremely ill. Anatomy is difficult, but I spent countless hours studying only to take ridiculous exams that made me feel stupid. Extremely rushed
He is not a good professor depending on how you learn. He expects you to know the material before you get to class and class is a review. If you are someone who needs a professor to teach the material do not choose him. Your only grade are the 3 exams and the final. DO NOT TAKE HIM
He was honestly a great professor. I had him for BIO 221 lab and he was straightforward in what he expected us to know for the exams and quizzes. He has powerpoint slides where he would highlight the words we needed to know so that we weren't flipping back and forth trying to find all the word in the lab manual. Great professor overall!
Dr. Beck was an amazing professor for A&P 1 lab! You knew exactly what he wanted you to know for the exams because he boxes them in the lecture slides and he doesn't count spelling! He also gives you alot of time to review and ask questions during lab. You have to review a little bit every day though because A&P 1 lab is alot of material.
I took Dr. Beck for lab. All labs are difficult, and don't require much lecturing. However, Dr. Beck made it very clear what we had to know for each quiz and exam. He also made sure that everyone was clear with the material and answered any and all questions. 3 quizzes, 2 exams, final. He does not count spelling and the final is not cumulative
I had Dr. Beck for A&P1 Lab and I would not have wanted any other professor. He gets straight to the point and usually lets us out early. There are only 3 quizzes and 3 exams but all include extra credit questions so you need to study. However, he tells you exactly what he's looking for as he boxes the terms you need to know in his power points.
He is a great professor! He knows a lot about the topic and makes it interesting for all the students. He makes jokes and finds a way to keep the lecture interesting. Wish he taught more classes - DEFINITELY recommend!
He talks fast and the only grades you have are the 4 exams (3 units exams and 1 cumulative final exam). Not bad as long as you take time study on your own and memorize the diagrams. He also has extra credit on his exams.
Dr. Beck is just not a good professor. My class had 144 students. he thought it wasn't his fault 83/144 students failed the second exam. there are only 3 tests and a final and the exams only get harder. do not take him if you want to pass anatomy. I was very disappointed.
Dr. Beck seems like a nice guy, but in class he is far from it. A&P lab is a tough class, but he expects that everyone knows the material as well as him, and gets angry when you ask questions. Do not recommend him.
Dr. Harald Beck is an amazing PERSON, but not a good professor. He knows the concepts SO well, that he speeds through the lectures and expects his students to teach themselves the material rather than spending more time on the harder concepts. The lectures were extremely rushed and he tested us on things that were not taught in the lectures.
If all you use to study is the powerpoints/lectures, you will not do as good. Watch videos, read, get the textbook (HELPED A LOT). He's a very knowledgeable, funny, sweet professor and always available to help. The exam questions require more critical thinking and analyzation than just straight up using what you memorized.
So, Beck is a very nice man, however his teaching style is very hardcore. He bases your grade off of four exams, which means there really is no room for failure in his class. You really need to understand the physiology of things to pass his class too. He tells you exactly what is going to be on there, however make sure you truly understand.
I enjoyed having him for A&P 1. The only thing is that there are only 3 exams and one final which can be terrifying but it is not that bad if you study and go to the SI session which really helped. He is always ready to answer any questions you might have if you go to his office hours.
DO NOT TAKE HIM. I REPEAT DO NOT TAKE HIM. I honestly studied went to tutoring had study groups and it still wasn't enough. His test make you feel dumb and I should've withdrew when I had the chance. He said 33 people had F's and 15 people had D's and he didn't care. I feel at some point it goes back to the professor. AGAIN DO NOT TAKE HIM.
Lol.... I thought I was smart until the day I took his final.. If you care about your grade your better off crying to the science department for entry into a section with another professor. Went from a B to C right after the final
Very clear at explanations; provides great real world examples appropriate for the age of his audience; sense of humor; very understanding; appointed SI tutor which definitely helps; straight-forward; productive lectures, but they can seem long so it is best to look over exam review guides to focus on most important info to know
Fails his students without even caring. does alot for university but not his students. he grades only tests and just does not care if you fail. if you come to his with concerns he says "study more". he even lost my test and blamed it on me. AVOID
Consider another professor before deciding to enroll with Beck. All he does is read over powerpoints that he also puts online and fails to answer students' questions. Says the textbook is not mandatory but get it if you want to actually learn and pass. Going to SI sessions will do you more good than attending that class. Oh, and he is RUDE!
Beck has does not care about his students, I took him twice. Everyone knows this class is difficult, but with a professor like this, it's almost impossible to pass. Please, I'm begging you, find a different professor. He also sends extremely condensing responses when you have questions as if you're supposed to be an expert with anatomy. Seriously.
Anatomy is an extremely difficult class, but Dr. Beck made the entire experience very enjoyable - especially during COVID-19. Be ready to spend a significant amount of time outside of the class studying and reviewing, otherwise you will not grasp the material. I highly recommend Dr. Beck if you are willing to work hard and utilize his resources.
Great guy and professor. I had him for lec, no idea how his lab is. Uses real-world examples to make hard things more understandable. Watch the lectures, use the book. Important to study as the only grades are on four exams. Keep up with the material and review it and you should pass. He is very accessible and understanding.
Being online the class was a bit easier, more flexibility but of course you still have to study a whole lot. The professor was nice in class but the one time I emailed him he gave me a lot of attitude for some reason. Could be because I didn't go to every class but every lecture was recorded so I never skipped class just did it at my own pace...
Offers great insights and is passionate about what he does. Adds in youtube clips and his own experiences to make the class more entertaining. He is serious without being serious if that makes sense. Very few things are graded, a few tests and short presentations and thats it. Focus on key concepts and not specific names or dates which is nice.
This class, with this professor is complicated. He says he cares for his students, and says he wants them to pass. But only gives exams, and no other grades. These test are hard and the study guide are about 150 slides. Then Proceeds to make the test up over slides not on the study guide. In other words, you just have to study everything.
Truthfully, the exams were very difficult. He takes his time to really teach the lectures. It is reflected in his PowerPoints. There is a textbook, but You can literally pass the exams and pass the class by learning what he puts into the slides. He is very helpful and really wants his students to pass.
You need to prepare yourself to actually DO THE WORK if you want to pass. There is A LOT of information, dont take the lightly. BUT, dont be intimidated with I said. Dr. Beck is probably one of the best professors. I dont think Ive had a professor that changed his semester plan in order for his students to pass and do good. Hes a gem. Take him
Professor Beck is the BEST anatomy teacher, you can really tell he wants all of his students to pass. He always responds quickly to emails and is available after class. He gives extra quizzes which REALLY helped my grade out. He gives out study guides for the tests and tells us what's important to study. He talks fast though so pay extra attention.
Dr. Beck is a gem. His lectures are fun and he keeps the class engaged. He's passionate about what he does and wants to see his students succeed, please me him halfway! He only gives four quizzes, three tests, and a final so be prepared to study. The textbook was a good resource in addition to recorded lectures.
I dont write reviews on professors but Mr. Beck is very genuine and cares about his students. He redesigned the course grading in a way that would be beneficial to students since we are still struggling to get back in the hang of in-person learning. The powerpoints are long but its anatomy so what do you expect but he tells u whats on the exam
Dr. Beck is humorous and care about his students. Changing the course plan/grading criteria for his students to pass says it otherwise. Pay attention during lecture as he flies through the slides. Dr. Beck do his best to teach the materials as he make each lecture fun to keep his students engaged.
In cont. of my prev. post: A&P has a lot of information, but dont get overwhelmed by this. If you need clarifications, e-mail him or rewatch the recorded lectures. I emphasize to make sure you know and understand the general concept rather than memorizing the information. He gives out study guides, so make sure to visit them and quiz yourself.
Dr Beck is a WONDERFUL prof & really cares about his students. He likes to be silly during his lectures and has also moved quizzes 2 the next day so we can study more. A lot of ppl struggled so he changed the syllabus to add points in the quizzes as your grade is mainly dependent on the 4 exams. A&P is a VERY hard subject so you need to STUDY ALOT
Strongly recommend Dr. Beck! He's very kind and cares about his students - he only wants his students to succeed. He's passionate about A&P and provides helpful examples. HE RECORDS HIS LECTURES!!! Be prepared to STUDY because there's A LOT to remember - A&P is NOT easy. Grades are based on 4 unit quizzes, 3 unit exams, and a final. He's a GEM!!!
Dr. Beck is easily one of the most caring professors. I had to retake anatomy and having him as a professor was refreshing. He gives quizzes so that the whole class isn't made up of 4 exams. The quizzes and exams both contain extra credit, something that he did not have to do. This class by no means is easy, but Dr. Beck made it so much better.
This class is already hard and contains so much information so be prepared to study the review PowerPoints don't help much so don't depend on them. Make sure you understand the material and don't be scared to ask questions if something doesn't make sense. Quizzes are online so that helps but overall he's a really nice guy and very caring.
Professor Beck was awesome!! Never in my life have I went out my way to write a review but today I will. This man is ver sweet and caring, he really want you to pass the class. He will give extra credit over extra credit over extra credit. His test are very hard but the extra credit balances it out. He really tries his best for his students.
Dr. Beck is an amazing professor! I was scared going into A&P I however, the way Dr.Beck had the class set up and the way he taught made it manageable. It is a hard class but extra credit was given throughout and he has test review. He is very understandable and easy to reach out to and talk to. I would definitely take him again!
Dr. Beck was easily my favorite professor this semester! He was invested in helping you get a grasp of the material and for how hard this class is, he's very straightforward about the content you need to know for his exams. Extra credit is built into each assessment and quiz and every little point helps! Again if you need A&P to take Dr. Beck!
Dr. Beck was an outstanding professor. He has wonderful PowerPoints. He explains concepts very well, however use outside resources as well. He records all his lectures for you to look over if needed. He has extra credit opportunities in exams as well as in quizzes. If you need to take A&P definitely consider taking him as your professor!
TAKE HM TAKE HIM TAKE HIM! Not only is be playful and funny, but he is willing to give extra credit to the whole class. You will still need to study a lot but as least you'll have an awesome professor.
Human Anatomy by far is an extremely hard course, but Dr beck incorporates real life ex and does his best to make lectures lively. He offers extra credit and is very accessible outside of class. He gives diagrams which constitute the majority of the exams and goes over what exactly you need to know, as long as you meet him halfway he will help you.
Dr.Beck made A & P I extremely manageable. When he says that "this picture will be on the exam" he means it a 100%. I would say focus more on memorizing the components of the pictures versus everything on every single slide. There will be some stuff from the review slides that will not be on the exam so don't be too surprised about that.
Professor Beck is the best STEM professor i've had. His lectures are clear and entertaining, all powerpoints and past lectures are posted on Blackboard, broken down into 4 exams and 4 quizzes (both containing extra credit questions), exams are clearly outlined, very motivating/respectful/encouraging/helpful. TAKE HIM!!
Anatomy will be a difficult class no matter who you take it with. I had to retake this class but it wasn't because of Beck, it was because I didn't put enough effort in. His powerpoints are very straightforward. He also records every lecture and posts it online. Exams are graded usually within two hours of taking them. He's also really funny.
Dr. Beck knew what he was talking about and it was just fun to sit through the lectures. As long as you listened to what he was saying and understood the content, you could get a good grade in this class. Although the grade was based on tests and quizzes, he offers extra credit and is fair to all students. All around just a great professor!
He is by far the greatest teacher at Towson. I personally failed two out of the 4 exams that we took but I managed to pass with a high C. His lectures are so informative and he is honestly a great person. The quizzes are what holds your grades as well and it's online to which is a huge blessing. Take this man Please!!!!!! and he is super cool !!
He is the best. I failed two exams and I still passed with a C. He is bar far the greatest teacher ever.
I did a research class with Dr. Beck and he was very knowledgeable in the subjects. He is kind and generous with his time and will take his time explaining and making sure you understand the topic. He works hard
He is the goat of Towson University. Im sad that he's not teaching in the spring but if you see him during the fall. take him as soon as possible. he gave out 4 test and forty quizzes online which help my grade so much. He is the best stem professor at this school.
I absolutely loved Beck's class. He offers a variety of assignments (& field trips!!) to help you keep a good grade. He does an excellent job breaking down all of the information provided in the lectures and is happy to clarify any questions you may have. He's a genuinely nice guy who wants you to succeed in his class and have fun learning too.
Always go to lectures since he'll verbally say additional notes that are not on the slides, but will be on the lecture exams. Exams are all short responses and make sure to practice writing your responses for the exam reviews because in the real exam, you'll run out of time for ~16 questions. Likes to joke around and labs were always fun! 15/10!!
He's alright but just get ready for him to only read off the powerpoint. he makes a few jokes here and there but nothing serious. if u can afford the textbook get it , quizlet and youtube will become your bestfriend. I wished I liked him more than i did but what can you do. Its a total of 4 quizzes , 3 exams and a final. Not too much to grade on.
I liked Dr. Beck a lot. His exams are very hard and the content of the class in general is hard and fast paced. He makes many jokes and wants his students to succeed. He records every lecture so that we can access the lectures if we aren't in class. He is very good with explaining concepts through real life analogies. Overall a hard but fun class!
He was a good professor and he was very good at explaining if you need more help on a subject. The class is hard so if you don't put in a lot of effort there is only so much he can do but I think he does the best he can with how hard the course is. There is extra credit on every quiz and exam which helps a lot.
Great professor. Lecture heavy with 4 exams but the last exam is optional. Once you get pass his accent and fast talking, he tries to make the lecture engaging. The timeline of the information that he covers between the exam and quizzes is crazy fast. Always open to talk for help but at times is not the best at explaining things.
Only thing I will say about Beck is, that his advice and his feedback suck. His exams are hard, second exam I did my worst on, reached out for help, any extra credit opportunities. His response, "Consider changing your major or talk to your advisor". HUH??? I asked for guidance and you give me that? So much for any encouragement. 0/10 professor.
Professor Beck was ok. He gave us "study guides" that had little to nothing to do with the questions on the exam. Towson purposely makes these science courses hard to weed out the weak links so if you have a history with not being good in school, you probably won't succeed. Anatomy is a hard class but the whole class shouldn't being doing this bad.
He was ok. His quizzes are take home which helped my grade tremendously. He says he gives all the material you need to pass the class but it's not helpful. Does not include application questions which is what his test consists of. He kind of belittles you when half of the class does bad which doesn't help. A&P is hard overall and not blaming him.
Very Easy class. He gives you all the material you need. Everyone dislike because he never curves but if you do not study then you will will not pass point blank. I highly recomend him
Great professor. Gives good amount of extra credit. But you need a 94% to obtain an A in the class, which is insane compared to the other lecture classes.
3 exams, 3 quizzes, 1 final exam (not cumulative). Do not be fooled by these reviews. This class was a breeze at first, but toward the end of the semester he kind of stopped caring about if we were learning or not. It's not too bad but he has a thick german accent and is EXTREMELY rude/passive. If you try to ask a question he'll snap at you.
While the content can be challenging, Prof. Beck makes the lectures engaging. The quizzes and exams test application, but Unstuck ai helped me prepare. Overall, a tough but rewarding course.
Avoid him. Never did bad in a college course until Beck. His tests are so hard and clinical application based when he never goes over that in class or ppts. And he never curves 8/100 people got an A on the 2nd test (most likely the ppl with their phones out that he never notices), no one 100, and yet no curve.
3 Exams (w/ 2 extra cred qs), 3 online quizzes, optional final. Dr. Beck is alright, his accent is NOT as bad as people make it seem. You'll likely have to end up teaching yourself, but my word of advice is to study application based questions, which are heavy on tests. They're the types of questions you understand IF you study hard, so do it.
He explained anatomy in a definition way, but made all the exams application based. The exam reviews are bad. I would spend hours studying it, only for the exam to be on processes not barely covered. The class would fail do bad on the exams, but he never did anything to try change that and belittles you. He makes you feel stupid when you ask things
If you go to open labs and study, you will pass the class. He also doesn't care about spelling as long as he can make it out; you'll get the point. There was always extra credit on the exam, and he was always clear on what was gonna be on exams, practicals, and quizzes. He was very sweet, and I would definitely recommend him !!!!
doesn't round grades or accept *any* late work even for a penalty but the guy is fine
Professor Beck is a tough professor. I know anatomy is very tough regardless of the professor, but I feel like professor Beck made it harder than it should have been. You basically have to teach yourself everything, because even though I showed up to every lecture, I still was not understanding what he was teaching. Nobody shows up to the lectures.
You take 4 Exams, you can replace one with the final. 3 Quizzes that you can get extra credit on. He will teach the material, but you have to practice with application questions bc that's what the majority of his tests look like. He tells you what's gonna be on it with his review powerpoints. And STUDY!! You can't pass A&P without doing the work.
Dr. Beck is a decent professor. I rated him a 3 simply because in his office hours for lecture, he didn't seem to cater to students. Seemed rigid overall. As many here state, this class is heavily exam focused, so if you don't lock in on your exams, you're cooked basically the whole semester. Be prepared to study. Do the work, you'll pass.
