He's new. So far it's been a good class. I'll post an update at the end of the quarter.
He is honestly one of the best math teachers at Deanza. He will make time for you, and he teaches at a good pace. I highly Recomend him!
Mr.Dhaliwal was simply awesome! I really liked his class, it was the only class that I actually enjoyed going to. His teaching Style is very clear and understandable, I already signed up for his Math 114 class. He’s a new teacher but is effective and extremely helpful! I would defiantly recommend him to anyone who is considering his class.
Dont get me wrong, hes a nice guy, but i think his teaching style still needs some work. Hes not very clear when it comes to explaining problems and he doesnt use his time wisely because we always ran out of time. I definitley think hed be a better professor is a couple of years.
He is a very nice, good teacher. He explains things well and is very helpful during office hours. I like him a lot and would recommend him to anyone looking for a good math teacher
Mr.Dhaliwal is cool! I really liked his class, it was the only class that I actually learned. His teaching Style is very clear and understandable, I would take him next quarter but his not teaching MATH51... You could use notes on your quiz and exams. I would defiantly recommend him to anyone who is considering his class.
Great teacher! It was his first quarter teaching so he still had some things to work on but overall, very nice and friendly teacher. Pretty funny too. I hate math but his class isn't too bad. Notes are allowed on quizzes and tests. He doesn't collect homework but has HW quizzes every week and problems are similar to those on the homework.
His teaching style is decent, he's very helpful and puts a ton of effort into helping you. Collects HW every tuesday, and IMO grades it too hard. However, he puts a LOT of time into answering HW questions. Recommended if you want to learn, workload is considerable but not unreasonable. He's flexible. Syllabus says NO LATE HW but you can bend him :)
The lesson plan is pretty straightforward--Dhaliwal lectures on the board on a given section by using examples. I would say that he's OK at lecturing, but he is GOLD during office hours. Pay attention during lectures, do your homework, and ask questions during office hours and you should be good. The class is challenging, but manageable.
he is probably one of the best math professors in DA. He is so helpful. he gives many examples until you get it. I would recommend him and his class!
this teacher is handsome, he is nice and helpful, but his test is so hard !! many students drop! if you want get a, don't take his class。
Hes great at teaching but his grading style is hard and detailed.
He's the best math teacher I had. Although there are MANY bad math teachers. He deducts points for skipped steps, but gives some for effort. The lectures are so clear, you don't really need to read the text. Hwk is not collected or graded, but there are some quizzes and in class group work. Very fun, laid back, and he cracks jokes too.
You know what I think about this professor? I think he's a well-organized teacher. Other than the fact that it takes him some time to return our hws back, his lecture is very clear and straight forward. My friend told me he's bad after I enrolled to the class and NO REGRETS! He's only taught two qtrs so he's doing pretty good, highly recommended
he is the most terrible teacher I've ever had. He is the hardest grader. There is no way you can get an A in his class. I hated him.
hes an alright teacher but his test are hard and hes not that thorough about the material
I have no idea what everyone is complaining about. This teacher is AWESOME. he always explains things properly and if you don't understand something, he will explain it again in a different way. On top of his teaching style, he's also a really nice guy. take him and you will have no regrets :)
Great professor. I believe this is his 1st time teaching math 1b so he was a bit unorganized, but the class was pretty easy. Lectures are clear. Show up everyday, do hw, and you should ace his exams.
Great teacher, very helpful. Will explain over and over again with as many as examples as required till we understand. Easily approachable, stern and funny too. Take his class he is good - knows his stuff for sure.
Do Not Take Him. the class is Very important, He Makes it difficult to understand the material he is also the worst grader.
This teacher is hot and has a fun personality but as far as teaching goes, he only teaches the beginning part of the chapters and expects you to learn the rest on your own and he rarely goes over hw problems.Tests are way harder than the hw that he gives out so when he says "it's just like the hw" don't believe it.
He is a very hard teacher. Even though I know the material the class had covered. I still can't be sure that if I would get a B. His grading is VERY hard. He takes points off when i draw the graph without labeling the axis. The curve he always mentiones IS NOT EVEN A CURVE. He takes the highest grade as 100% instead of taking average grade as a C.
Attendance isn't mandatory, but it would be beneficial to attend all classes. Homework isn't required, but also beneficial. Grade is based on labs, quizzes, and tests. Lectures & notes can get confusing, he sometimes makes little mistakes here and there. Grades pretty hard, he'll mark off for the little things. Take the class if you'll commit.
he is a cool and funny teacher but he'll only teach you the first proportions of the quarter and excepted you to teach urself.
I can't believe all the comments made! I am retaking the class and so I can compare! His quizzes are super easy, the exams are fairly easy, the labs are the same in all the classes. I got a D the first time, but I'm sure I'll be getting at least an A- in his class. He is the best MATH10 instructor on campus.. and he's good eye candy too ; ]
he is the worst teacher I've ever met.Although I got A+ in other math class,I even don't know if can pass the class.I've studied over 30hours every week because the teacher and book suck; Hoever, tests are so hard that i cann't understand questions. He never talked these **** questions only talk crap in class. He want to give trouble to students
I currently have a GPA of 3.8 and I'm even doing fine in all those hard courses such as Chem and so on, yet his class I don't think I can pass. It's not me. It's his teaching style, his unwillingness to help and the horrible textbook. I really regret taking this course and he ruins my passion for Math, if there was ever any.
I really think that he's trying to help the class out. He has good intentions. I just wish he would have done something about the quizzes too the quizzes questions are just as dumb as the one on the exams.
first, DO NOT bring text book to class, he copys it can read it through the whole lecture time. second, exam he gave is the hardest among all those 1c professor. third, we are now 3 weeks late than what we should be, he didnt say if the uncovered chapter would be in the final exam or not. oh, forget to say. his lecture is supper boring.and not Etra
I don't like Math but he's really nice. I heard he's one of the best Math profs at De Anza too. He's pretty flexible also. Highly recommended!
Hard final, you canot finish it at all.
For a math course, his class was actually pretty enjoyable. He definitely knows his stuff. I miss doing the labs in class, they have always been the funnest.
Teaches directly from the book. If you didn't understand the book, you won't understand his lecture. Lectures are rather boring, but quick paced, with a sort of mono-tone. Exams are difficult. Most students complain of not having enough time.
for people who think he's hard - they're lazy. he's probably one of the best math teachers i've ever had, if not the best. he makes the long equations&concepts in the book WAY more easier to understand. seriously. take him. you won't regret it.
He was a good teacher, overall. He was pretty clear most of the time, there were times when it seems like he was unsure of what he was doing. The exams were pretty easy, all you really need to do is pay attention in class and take his notes and you are good to go!
If you treally want to learn a subject - then he's a proffesor to take. He knows his stuff. He's fair with the test and he explains all of his requirements up front. There are no surprises. He checks the homework and he does have quizzez. If you do the homework - then you'll pass the quizzes. He goes over the examples in the textbook and always ask
Final is too hard!!!! He make the course harder. However, he likes to help students, if you have any questions he will love to help you. But tests and quizzes aren't easy
Has Great lecture. Must attend to get his notes, mostly notes from him. I attend everyday, so far I got an A. Test and quiz is from Hw problems and assign problems. Btw...finals is Hard.
He's a great person but a horrible teacher. Don't Take his class if you don't wanna ruin your GPA. I'm not bad in Math but his class is hard. I don't even know if I'm gonna pass.
I agree with the comment below. I must agree that Mr. Dhaliwal is a great professor but somewhere in the quarter, I dropped to a B. In my opinion, he's not a community college level professor in terms of grading. If you're taking this class, heed my warning, prep up or be ready to drop the class the second week. This class is no play time. I vouch
Seriously the best math teacher that I have ever had. I don't know what these people are talking about because his lectures are so much easier to understand than the book. If you go to class and pay attention to lecture then you'll be fine. He's always willing to help and is very clear on what he expects from you. Good teacher.
I think this professor is great! The textbook is free online. Notes are based on his lectures not the textbook. If you attend all his classes & do the homework, the tests are VERY easy. I think he was very respectful to his students, but he will treat you like a high school kid if you act like one. I would highly recommend him!
If you've gotten through HS math this class shouldn't be too bad. If you've had some calculus, it's a breeze. To get an A you really have to read, do all HW assigned, and attend class! What's great about this prof is that if you need help (via email or in person) he will provide with out fail. Only criticism is he's a slow grader.
One of the greatest math teachers at De Anza. Crystal clear. He hates for you to text in class. Oh and he is bad at office hours, because he always shows up late. But other than that he is: helpful, patient, and nice! I recommend you do all the homework, practice a lot of problems and you should be fine. Tests are similar. And yes he is handsome!
He's a good teacher. A kind gentleman, he's strict on certain things like texting swearing and talking but that's because he wants everyone to be respected and not have anyone's education and learning experience to be jeopardized. I would recommend him since he is clear and trains you in math so you can do it yourself instead of baby walking.
Easy tests, easy quizzes, too large homework assignments, hate the amount of group work which he grades by giving everyone the same grade based on one person's paper who he chooses at random, was convinced ti-89 can't do everything required though it can (not his fault, no one else in the class with a ti-89 knew how to use it), really bad spelling
This professor moves along at a very quick rate. Like other reviews, know your math or be prepared to drop. Takes too long to grade quizes and tests. Some times late to class and office hours. I believe has another job outside teaching 3 sections of math, appears to be overwhelmed. As noted above, he does assign group lab work.
Mr. Dhaliwal is organized, helpful, young, smart, and very handsome. Most professors are not this cool.
Professor Dhaliwal is probably the best teacher for Math 1A.
Even though there is a consensus that he is worthy of a smiley face rating I would have to disagree completely. This is a completely book based lecture class. He lectures and does one or two examples from the book and gives us homework (the homework is given to us two or three days after the lecture and one or two days before the next class period)
the most underrated teacher in de anza.
Good teacher but hard if you don't do the homework or read the sections.
I like his teaching style, where he makes everything from the book much easier than it looks. The tests are not hard and regular quiz is easy, but you have to be well prepared for the final. One thing I dislike about him is he collect the homework once a while, which you really have to be self-discipline and do them regularly yourself.
One of the best. Takes time to explain all concepts and his exams/quizzes/labs are easy. There are no trick questions. Goes too fast for some people in the class. He's not very organized when it comes to grading. Don't expect your stuff back for a while. Oh, and he also makes you hand in all your homework. So DO ALL OF IT.
He is a hard grader, but helps if you need it.
He's the easiest Calculus professor in DeAnza. Easy A as long as u take notes in the class. He always uses textbook examples to make up the exam questions. Very straight forward.
Extra Credits + Revisions before tests + Crystal clear explaination + handsome + easy quizes = EASY "A"
He's really handsome. Basically, there are revisions before every tests. Study a bit and a guarantee A. Take him, why not?!
Awesome teacher! Math has always been my worst subject but ended up with an A. My biggest advice is take notes and you will get an A too! He was late a few times, but that is because he was involved in a car accident and suffered some injuries, totally understandable. Plus he uses the older version of the book which I bought from Amazon for 1cent!
Take it and you will enjoy the class. He is very easy. Make sure you do the HW.
I would say Dhaliwal is an extremely adapt professor. He is very intelligent. But he does not just hand out grades. You have to work for it. I feel like it should go without saying BUT: GO TO CLASS. Take notes. Do the homework. Commit a few hours of studying before test day. All elementary college habits. People expect laziness to get them A's...
He messed up a couple questions on a test or two but cleared them up. Straight forward with explanations and makes statistics seem much easier than the book. On top of that the guy lets you use a page of notes for tests! Really?? I can't believe there are actually negative things said about him.
He seemed like a nice guy at first but sooner or later became tougher. He's a tough grader and often made mistakes while lecturing. His class seemed rushed and unorganized.
Professor Dhaliwal is a cool teacher. His lectures go by pretty quick and Exams can be difficult. Always make sure you are prepared for the Exams. Only 8 question for each except the final. If you are struggling, go to the math tutoring center it really is a big help! Final was multiple choice4 word problems and you can use a page of notes.
Harman Dhaliwal obviously teaches higher math and treats this course as a review. It is very fast paced, but if you keep up with the homework and ask for help if you need it, you will pass.
Very good teacher. He is clear about what he wants and how he wants it done. Definitely go to class, take notes, ask questions. He'll let you have a page of notes for both quizzes and exams. He collects homework, which is fairly long, but you have a week or two to complete them. Also gives an outline of the upcoming days.
He is a good teacher but sometimes the lectures are confusing. there are totally 3 exams and 5 quizzes plus 4 labs. his lectures are pretty easier than book. He does not hand out grades; you have to work for it. If you are a good students, take his class.
Very clear with instructing the class of how to solve an equation. Good teacher with a good intention of letting the students perform their best. Always helpful.
He taught me everything I couldn't learn in 4 years of high school. He explains things well, and does try to answer your questions if you don't get something. A lot of group work so you can ask your peers for help as well. Great math class for someone who is taking it seriously and wants to learn.
Lots of Homework and group work but worth it. Helped me to understand the foundations to Math 41. Great teach as well. Keep up with the homework and you should be good.
He succeeds in making easy material feel difficult on the test. His tests are unnecessarily difficult. He also seems a little irritated when people ask him questions. I would suggest taking a different stats teacher.
He assigns homework (from the textbook) that is due on exam day. Both the amount of homework assigned and the quizzes/exams are extremely reasonable! As someone who isn't very good at math, I think I got the grade I deserved based on how much I studied, which is awesome. Also, he's funny. Definitely would take Prof. Dhaliwal again
He explains everything very clearly! Very reasonable amount of hw. Exams (MC, 1pg notes) exactly like the hw. Easy A if you listen during lecture. Anyone who says he's not a good prof obviously didn't put any effort. I dont like Stats, barely studied (it was just a filler class for me) but listened in class + took notes, got an A.
Makes mistakes frequently, talks about his life a lot and tries to give life tips. The exams are based on understanding the material and knowing how to apply them. You get points for doing hw. There are labs, he only grades 1 of them out of your group and everyone gets that grade. Decent professor.
He is very smart and has emotional intelligence which is a rarity in math circles. He knows math can be difficult for many so he makes it fun. Schedule is organized, grading system helps student succeed, and HW is appropriate. Calculus is hard and if you're like me who cries because of math, please take Math1A with him. He gives great advises too.
He's an OK teacher. I might be very subjective as I love math, but he gave all the homework for the whole semester in his website. Sometimes, he loves to give inspirational stories from his past experiences, which is disturbing yet helpful. There was no role call but it is a must to come when he is assigning for lab as he will put us into groups.
Exams are homework problems with different numbers. Easy for a 1a class, but not an easy A. Final was difficult. His lectures were informative and not boring. Loves telling life stories. Homework is all out of the stewart book. Seems like he gets annoyed when he's asked questions in middle of lecture. Overall really nice and approachable.
He is a nice teacher. Just do some of the homework, pay attention in class and the hints he gives about questions that will be on the quiz/exams. Good for beginner 1A students.
having this class only two days a week(M & W). He reads a lot of books and recommends some good books to students. You can go to office hours and talk about anything(you might get extra credit from this if you go there often) he is a kind and nice teacher
Great teacher overall. He provides a link for a free stats book online which is very helpful financially. His grading is very reasonable. Lectures are to the point and very helpful. Definitely take this guy for stats
If you want a teacher that could care less about his passion for this subjects, then take this guy. While there are moments that seems like he really cares for the students, all he does is grades and never explains the details of how the problems are solved. His confusion of the class agenda is bad due to having no specific time for when it's due.
For all math-people, you should definitely take this professor, he's smart and does a great job to explain math topics. He answers every question if you would see him during the offered time.
He is a good math teacher, but he is sometimes so disorganized. Extra credit is available if you ask him. Quizzes are based on his notes. But you should study more for exams and final. He is also a nice guy who wants to help his students.
Attend lecture, take notes, do homework and ask questions and you should pass
Math 1c is tough but we got study guides for exams and exams werent too different than hwk
He gave us old exams to study off, some mistakes but corrections made
Great instructor, learned alot but needed to study for it
took him for math 1a online, he offered a larger classroom so online students could also show up for lecture if they wanted, so i went. he creates videos for topics by week but the lectures are usually good enough. do the homework, pay attention and you should pass
only thing bad about him is he needs to grade faster
The exams were pretty straight forward but you had to do the homework. Our last exam was a take home which really helped at end of the quarter.
Took him for online class a few quarters ago, was relatively straight forward but the textbook is free and has some errors. His notes try to fix some errors but you have sample exams to help for real exams.
drop lowest exam and sample exams given, lot of material so can't cram last minute but overall doable if you put in time.
Took him for math 1c and got a good grade, you have to do homework and participate but other than that pretty straightforward with tons of sample exams
Took him for math 10 a while back. Fair amount of practice exams and notes are provided but homework can be tough so you have to ask questions. Textbook was free which was nice.
He assigns a lot of homework but gives you a couple weeks to do it so unless you're cramming the night before you should be fine. He uploads sample quizzes and exams and they're almost exactly like his actual exams. Its an online course so obviously you self teach and use his guidelines but other than that easy A.
He is a pretty decent professor overall. There is ALOT of homework and you have to do it almost everyday, HOWEVER his practice exams are pretty similar to the actual tests. The final is harder than the practice final though, so don't slack off at the end. He sometimes teach fast and only does 60% of the material but is still better than most profs.
I took him for Math 10, over all the course was straightforward with lecture notes, videos and practice exams posted online. You do have to do the homework else the class is hard. The textbook is free, which is nice, but there are some errors. Ask questions on line, attend lecture, and you should be fine.
I found the class was pretty straightforward. There were notes, videos, and sample exams. Quizzes were online through canvas so overall if you do your work you should be okay.
Took his Math1A 1 year ago, thought he was good. After taking calculus with 4 different professors, realize he is the worst. He always think you are trying to cheat. Not willing to help you at all outside of class. Do not answer any homework question in class, require u to post question on Cancvas and never answer any one of them! Very Hard final
Took his online class. Really simple assignments/quizzes and all; final is 20% of the grade and all exams you could practice the previous exams and do really well. Labs are in groups so it's annoying having to do it as a group. He is not too good at communication but you don't really need that because the class is straightforward!
One of the best math professors Ive ever seen. His class is set up for the modern student and the success of his students. Very efficient and you cover all the material he wont skip things or hesitate to explain or help students.
I took his Math 10 and I got an A+ with 103% in the end. He gives a lot of extra credit assignments, so you can pass his class with good grades anyways. He is awesome and makes those complicated concept very easy to digest.
the class required attention but i had sample exams and a final to study from, lowest exam was dropped and quizzes were online. some extra credit opportunities which helped and i got to use a page of notes on the final. he will answer any questions but you have to ask them.
FIRST DO NOT TAKE THIS CORSE. I took the class last year, and then I finished other two calculus corses. I realized that the professor is worst professor from my experience because he is really tough grader and tests are too difficult even though you were good at Math1A.
The first and second tests weren't so bad, but the third test and the final were very similar to his quizzes. The quizzes are pretty difficult. I took the class online, so I was expecting to work a little harder than if I were taking the class in person, but I taught myself the entire course. He is also very unresponsive on email.
Not only did I have to teach myself everything this quarter because he never sent us lecture video of himself, he gave us tons of homework (80+ problems per set and he gives us 3) and only graded us on ONE random problem. He sent us a powerpoint slide each week skipping steps and explanations with maybe one basic khan academy video.
AVOID. He didn't teach. He uploaded some scribbles and put up khan academy videos. He assigned a ton of problems for extra credit but made it worth hardly any points, so there was no impact to the grade. He didn't grade homework/labs that were from the beginning of the quarter until the day before the final, so there was no feedback before then.
I expected more even from an online class. You essentially teach yourself the entire course. Extremely minimal communication from the professor and most assignments weren't graded until the week of the final (granted things have been crazy with a pandemic). Practice tests are helpful! Am taking 1B with him in the spring but hoping it'll be better
Does not teach very good. He does not answer email. You have to teach yourself. If you are international student do not take!! Take another prof
avoid him if you can. doesn't reply emails, doesn't teach at all, all he did was copy paste notes from textbook then send to us and find videos on youtube to let us watch. all he does is grade, but still have lots of wrong answers, he has to regrade every quiz and exams, even final. I paid for him to teach, not only a grade.
It was an easy class but the way he teaches is so bad. Our homework and labs weren't graded until after the final even though we finished them about 1-3 weeks prior to it. His test are easy although he chooses None of the above which is annoying. Dont take him
The class itself wasnt impossibly difficult but it was extremely frustrating. Tons of homework, all lectures were khan academy or related similar videos, and most if not ALL quizzes and tests had mistakes on them (including the final) and we werent even allowed to see the final answer choices of the final itself to compare our answers.
No lectures in this class, he links YouTube videos to study off of. His email replies feel like you're talking to an automated message from a robot, no heart no feelings.
Took this prof despite the horrendous online reviews to give him the benefit of the doubt. Every review here is actually spot on. Doesn't do any real teaching, instead uses YouTube videos and copy/pasted notes from the textbook. Quizzes/tests have horrendous errors, and you can't see your answers. Unless you self-teach, you'll fail.
if you want to actually be taught calculus, even if this professor is your absolute last and only option at DeAnza -don't do it. Take the class at Foothill or anywhere else especially with everyone doing online classes now. the worst class I took. Harman does not want to teach, he does not want to grade, he should find a new job. Terrible class
This professor is one of the worst professors I have ever had in my life. He never taught anything . He uses youtube videos to teach the class and uses notes from the internet. He refuses to grade any assignments until three weeks after. He takes days to respond to emails.
Absolutely terrible teacher. Lazy, doesn't try to help students, rude and clearly doesn't care to actually teach you math. Take this class with anyone else, calculus is so much easier to understand and enjoy with a professor that knows how to teach
DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS! Didn't teach AT ALL the entire quarter, just linked videos. You teach yourself everything.
Overall given the covid situation the class is online which is in some ways harder but the professor gave us many days to take quizzes, exams and the final. He was around for office hours if you had a questions and generally responded to email quickly.
Math1B lecture notes were typed and pretty easy to read and the videos were short and linked to the topics. Ask questions in email or office hours and he'll respond. Got a good grade overall since lowest exam was dropped.
Course notes, videos and some office hours over zoom. Lowest exam was dropped which helped.
Online class but no zoom lectures, you could get a hold of the professor if you emailed him or went to office hours and exams and quizzes were online and multiple choice.
Online class, most of it was smooth even though grading was slow. The labs required group work so it was tough to get in touch with some people. Nothing major, you might have to send a few more emails to get a hold of people in your group.
Took an online calculus with him and the class was okay, it wasn't perfect, some items were late, but overall it went fine.
The textbook was free and we got lecture notes so the material easier to learn, you can use notes during exams which is nice.
Online class with typed lecture notes and the exams and quizzes were online and available for days so you could decide when to take them. He can be slow on grading and some assignments due dates were extended.
Basic course, calculator heavy and lot of material, his notes are good much easier than the book. Show up and ask questions and you should be fine.
Multiple choice exams but there is group work we couldn't alone.
All previous reviews are correct, group project, late grader, and self learning. Read his notes, skim the book, and do hw, you will pass. Assignments can be done ahead of time or till the last minute. The liberty he gives you can make you excel or fall behind, so think hard how much attention you need from a prof. Not for needy students.
Really easy if you can self study and like Khan academy. Group work in an async class was irritating at times. Grades hw pretty much on submission, and multiple choice tests/quizzes. Overall pretty easy, but if you really want to learn calc, take a different prof.
Amazing compared to other calc teachers here. He was very uninvolved though. 3 reasonable hw sets done on paper, scanned. Online textbook. 5 group labs, groups assigned (sometimes very late) by him. WATCH PROFESSOR LEONARD ON YOUTUBE to actually learn calc. Absolutely necessary to watch to understand fully. Several quizzes and exams, not too hard.
There will be big homework packets. The tests are more complicated than they need to be. Do the homework and read his notes. The class was just self-study for the tests.
Fair amountof homework, labs were done in groups but some students are hard to reach. Quizzes and exams are online and openbook and some study guides are provided.
This was an online class that had online exams and quizzes but there were labs that were done in groups and some people were hard to get a hold of. Prof answers questions so if your stuck ask for help.
The class is ok. The grade is mostly based on tests and finals, no midterm. Ok, homework load. People said it was a lot but you have weeks to finish it. If you can self-study it is easy.
If you actually want to learn, don't take this class. If you want to cheat through everything, this class is relatively easy. Every quiz/exam for me so far has had at least one error, so be wary of that. Pretty sure he does that on purpose. Homework isn't that hard and is mostly easy workload.
Tests are graded horribly. He makes a mistake on nearly each test/quiz. Every now and then there will still be mistakes after he "corrects" the test a second time. Everything else is easy but this class encourages cheating with the lack of time given in each test/quiz.
Does not teach at all. Only provides Khan Academy videos and typed notes that aren't that helpful. You'll have to self-teach yourself all the material. Everything is on Canvas. There were mistakes on pretty much all the quizzes and exams. Quizzes/exams were very similar to HW. Fairly easy A if you can self-teach yourself the material though.
Harman is not a good professor. Canvas tells us he's dropping 2 quizzes. He's now telling us it's 1. Every quiz and test was graded wrong. The Final was also graded wrong. There are not many good options for Calc professors, but this guy isn't good. Final decides if you get an A or B and a lot of people don't do well in it.
I had a 90 before the final and ended up getting a C. Every other test I did well in. He does not teach and as others have said the answer key is wrong in each exam or quiz. You won't know if you got a 40% or a 100% on the test and will have to tell him and show him the work so he can fix the score.
Idk how he has such a high rating on here. He isn't good and caused a lot of problems for this class. All the reviews are right his answer keys were wrong so you won't know your grade and he doesn't teach. Homework takes hours and hours. Avoid him if you can.
If you're looking for a good grade and/or to learn, this is not the guy. Doesn't have a single lecture of his own and posts videos of youtube resources. The majority of quiz and test questions are unrelated to the HW and notes he assigns. Lost 4.5% on my overall grade from 1 test problem wrong out of 2 tests as tests are 45% of your grade alone.
You have to fight for every test grade. Errors on every single text and exam. Cheat or lose points.
80% of your grade is tests or quizzes. That makes this class already so hard. His teaching is linking Khan Academy videos. I had to fight for my grade and ended up getting a C when I did well in everything but the exams. I got 1 question wrong im the 2 exams and it ended my chances of getting an A. AVOID AT ALL COSTS
alot of mistakes on test and quizzes its laughable. Have to fight for every grade. not worth it.
Everything said here is true. I got panic attacks because of the way my grade moved in this class. I didn’t know if I got a D or an A in some tests because of his answer key.
If there isn't a character limit for RMP, I would've given a detailed list of pros and a majority of cons. He may be sparing with how he grades specific assignments, but he certainly is not an adequate/appropriate online professor. He will not teach nor build a foundation for you in integral calculus. I would suggest avoiding if you want to learn.
Teaching style is posting youtube videos. Doesn’t know how to make an accurate test key on the first or even the second try. VERY test heavy and hw doesn’t help prepare. Don’t buy “graded on completeness.” Correctness is everything. If you are good at self study and don’t mind emailing the prof often about issues, you have a chance.
Difficult, but very finessable. Completely self study, 3 large homework packets, 5 quizzes, 3 exams, and final. Canvas test/exam answers aren't always correct, so you have to fight for your grade. Class can be very confusing and stressful; however it is finessable and an A is very possible. Requires lots of work, very stressful, but can get an A.
all his tests are google-able, but you will NOT learn anything in this class. it's an easy a, but i would not take it again bc i fr learned nothing. good luck in calc1c after learning nothing this quarter. also, the hw sets are FAT if you cant stick to a good schedule. for procrastinators, youll be doing so much work at the end of the quarter.
5 group assignments, three homework sets, and a few test/quizzes. He uses khan academy videos so essentially self study using the textbook which made it super difficult to learn. I would never take this professor if you need to learn for a higher math class. Drops lowest scores. Multiple choice quizzes with "none of the answer choices" as an option
Not a bad class but make sure to stay self-motivated. There's no actual lectures but the Khan Academy videos are really good. You can also supplement with other videos online. There's ample time to do all the HW but if you procrastinate it hits hard. Quizzes and Exams aren't too bad. Try to do good on the first quizzes and exams.
Awful professor. Asynchronous so no lectures, no material other than the book, difficult-to-read notes, and khan academy videos. Homework is super heavy, and doesn't grade things quick enough to confirm mastery. Grading weights are also inaccurate.
Only 3 sets of homework, and that is self-paced. The biggest problem is he doesn't teach, only Khan Academy videos. Quizzes and exams are MC, but he grades them wrong, so you have to fight for the grade. The Final is really hard and only 15 questions so if you want to get an A you can only miss a max of 3 questions.
Professor Dhaliwal please make be more organized from now on, and make sure that you grade students correctly on their exams. Please grade easier as well, a point off on an exam should not cost a student 4.5%. Please assign less homework, students have lives outside of this class and the amount should not be unnecessary.
You won't learn much, he just gives you khan academy videos and reused notes. The class is very easy - every quiz, test, final is open notes and the homework sets (~80 problems) are due every 2 weeks. There are no other assignments aside from the one extra credit. Just make sure to not get too far behind on the HW and its a free class.
