Not a very easy grader but a nice person. He will grade well if you participate.
cool guy. interesting classes.
hes cool kinda tough, boring lect, but he took us to the museum
nice guy boring class. It's a boring subject that he can't spice up!
very tough grader but gives a lot of chances to improve your grade
very interesting class
Nice guy, teaches well and goes over everything, but can put you to sleep
had him 4 honors, did little work good grade
Very cool, funny, brilliant teacher. Class is pretty easy and he's very fare.

excellent
Advise take another PHI before this one. Difficult papers, okay tests. Prof okay
easy, sometimes boring, but overall, interesting and worth taking...learned a lo
Dr. Brown is awesome! One of the few professors I'll remember from college
Nice guy
Good prof. If you come to class and take good notes, you will get a good grade.
Very boring, you can easily fall asleep during lecture.
cool man boring boring boring dont hate tha man hate the subject

very intelligent, thinks & says he knowsitall, but interesting, take his class
very interesting person - cynical and realistic, not an easy class though
nice guy, can be a little boring but if you pay attention makes the book clear
definitely take his class, very enjoyable (as long as you like the subject, duh)
relaxed lectures, cool sense of humor, allows essay rewrites, hard readings.
Admirable man. Challenging class but worth the experience.
Nice man, captivates you with the material. Tough grader with papers!
Great guy and teacher if you can slow to his lecturing speed. Worth taking.
Really nice professor. Fun to be in his class. The material is easy if you practice.
He's boring and mega slow!!! it's such a pain to sit through his lectures:(((((
Loved the class but its not easy. Boring reading materials but interesting discussions in class. Pretty tough grader.
****in' liberal! states his views and lets only anti-war hippies talk in class!! horrable grader, and so slow that makes Marx and Machievelli boring!
Great, interesting, funny lectures. Very respectful of students. Tough grader and papers, but allows for rewrites and improvement. A+.
I didn't like his teaching style at all. He was a hard and unfair grader in my opinion as well, but he did allow for rewrites. My advice is this: if you like Professor Mohl, you won't like Dr. Brown...I LOVE Mohl, hated Brown.
Good professor. He makes the class pretty interesting. His grading is a little bit rigid but overall taking his class is worth it. Funny guy too
the way he teaches is not well at all. i don't like his grading system. don't take him.
boring professor i have ever seen in my life. very stupid. its very hard to understand from his class. if u r good at writing then u may take his class.
Very tedious grader but allows for a retake. Only way to get an A in the course is to ACE the final. Logic math courses are easier to get through than this. Oh yeah, attendance optional.
drones on and on...nice guy but needs to learn to finish a topic in lectures before moving on to the next one...by the end of class he has run himself in circles so many times that he never actually answered his original question
Overall, DB is a pretty cool guy but he tends to ramble and loses himself in his own thought processes. Allows rewrites. Grade is basically how well you do on final and final paper.
Smart guy but needs to tie it in with class. Class is extremely boring and optional but if you dont go you wont know sh*t.
Great guy and very amusing. Tough grader but gives rewrites. Very helpful!
If you think this class is going to help for taking the LSAT, You're wrong. The material in this class is like the hardest geometry you could ever think of!! No word puzzles, only and I stress only, symbolizing!! It is soo boring
Nice professor, helpful and understanding. He's fair.
Cute, little, old man! Rambles on, starts new topics before finishing old ones, confused the hell out of me! Does allow for rewrites and its due anytime before semester is over.
He's okay. He is ready to help you in every way he can and is a fair grader. Boring class though but I'm not really into philosophy.
the doc is a good man, very nice, but i think the class is boring..you can do fine in the class if you focus while reading the material..if you don't, i don't think class discussion is that helpful.
yawn, sleepy
Very interesting class. Material is a bit difficult but if you practice, you should be bale to do it. You do get a review sheet before each exam. Also, you can do extra credit to raise your grade.
Mean, obnoxious, boring. Do not take him!
Oopa! Take him for the tutorial on classical Greek
He diverges from tangent often. Occasionaly his lectures get boring, however, I'll be the first one to admit that once in awhile I find myself giving him my utmost attention, especially when he discusses powerful somewhat relevant topics related to today's society.
Not much work at all. Negiotiable due dates. Fair grading. Many curves. Slightly boring lectures, but not a time consuming B at all.
Very smart professor, although everyone around me looked like they were about to fall asleep due to boredom. Drink a shot of experso and you'll be okay.
if you want to learn philosophy...take a class with him!
you can drink 4 shots of expresso and still fall asleep.. the class itself is just a lot of reading its not that tough, but I'm not prepared for the miterm/final at ALL.. in the 3 and 1/2 hours.. we barely cover any material, but you're still expected to know it..
Class is boring as hell but he knows what hes talking about.
His classes are real boring and long. He doesnknow what hes talking about but doesnt present it in a nice way!
Logic isn't exactly a class you take for fun unless you are crazy. I'm crazy. But, Dr. Brown is extremely helpful and knowledgeable of subject matter. Besides, even if you do poorly and ace the final, you ace the class.
Donot ever take this guy. He is a narcaleptic fool, who has been reading Plato for the last fifty years. Do not waste your time. Nobody likes him.
He's a nice guy, very intelligent, but the tends to drone on and on about things that don't make a lot of sense. If you do all of the reading, he isn't horrible. He's willing to help you if you come to him for help. He grades fairly, too, most of the time.
The class was interesting. Grades fairly. A lot of reading, but it is covered in the class so it is not a big deal.
Take him for a comprehensive and engaging class. The guy isn't easy but it's definitly worth the effort.
The lectures are in monotone and complex. He doesn't spend enough time on the difficult philosphers. There's a lot of reading but he discusses only parts of it in class. The exams are fair and reflect class discussions. The papers are challenging but he and the TA are very helpful when asked in advance. He's open to comments and participation.
People who don't like Dr. Brown are too stupid to be enrolled in college. Go home :)
I've taken him twice before. He is a good teacher, who really knows what he is talking about. If you take him for Logic be prepared to be confused for most of the semester though. . . He does end up grading fairly.
You won't know everything before taking the class, so you will have to do some work, but he will always be there to help. he was more patient than he needed to be when students didn't do the homework we were reviewing.
Very knowledgeable professor. Somewhat difficult subject matter, but he is very helpful and willing to meet with you if you ask. He also allows rewrites of papers if you do not get the desired grade. As long as you show improvement and effort you will have at least a B in this class. Takes some work (lots of reading).
UNV 101 was very boring with him... he's very helpful and genuinely cares about his students, but UNV 101 was not interesting. One-on-one as an advisor he's helpful.
Really nice guy, very understanding. Important to make a connection with him so that he knows who you are. However, he's a very hard grader, and a little difficult to understand. I would only suggest taking him if you have some knowledge and genuine interest in the subject.
he's a really interesting and funny guy. Extremely sharp and witty. He will go on tangents some times but they're funny and he teaches a lot and well. Definitely take him, he is one of the best prof at Pace
If you want to hate your life every day for the whole semester then this class is for you! Horrible professor & horrible class! This Professor is so boring he would put a coke addict to sleep! If you want to enjoy your life then run and hide from this professor!!!! I got an B and I still HATED this class!
He's a good professor and he knows what he is talking about, but take his class only if you are truly into the subject, meaning you are actually interested and are willing to put in some extra work. His handouts are very clear and the text helps a lot. Oh, if you get an A on the final, you get an A in the course.
As much as I'd love to complain about the monotone and lack of interest that was projected onto me in the class, I can safely say that I havent bought half the books, and spent most of my time on facebook and still walked away with a B+. Redo all your papers if possible and ask questions, theres no way to fail him. As for interest, ... nope
He is by far the worst professor I have taken here, the only class I have ever failed at pace, he makes the material so difficult to understand and teaches like you already know it with little to no help at all ... if you want to waste your time take him
Very interesting professor. Can be 'boring' if you aren't that interested in the subject. 2 papers, Midterm, and a Final over the short books that you read. They are semi-difficult but he allows rewrites on everything so you can definitely get a good grade if you want one.
One of the sweetest people I've ever met. He's incredibly intelligent but doesn't care for bullcrap. If you are interested in philosophy, take Brown. He will change your life.
Dr. Brown is one of the most laid back professors. He is always trying to find a way to help his students. Plus he is passionate for philosophy and religious studies. Take him!
Taking Dr. Brown's class should be a rite of passage at Pace. Get ready to analyze texts! He appreciates it when students show interest. If you find yourself struggling with his papers, come to office hours and ask him for help. Dr. Brown is very personable. Years of teaching experience helps him relate to his students well.
Very intelligent man, but cannot teach or explain concepts well. In order to get through his class you need to read the book and his notes. There are two exams and a final. If you get an A on the final, you get an A in the class. His exams aren't easy either but he allows make-ups. He also has a few extra-credit opportunities so take advantage!
Dr. Brown's class is definitely interesting and funny, he goes off on a lot of tangents but the class is very laid back. If you take notes and read the readings once in a while, you will be fine.
dr. brown is someone i would love to have as my grandpa. he's funny and a total genius. however he's not the clearest prof and he likes to go on tangents. did offer rewrites for all papers though which was nice. I hardly did any of the readings and still did pretty well.
Dr. Brown rocks! I had him for Ancient Greek. He is very understanding that the subject matter is difficult and therefore makes the class more discussion and review oriented rather than assigning tests. A great teacher for a frustrating subject.
Great teacher, easy to understand, lots and lots of lectures, good sense of humor. Grade will increase based on participation in discussions ( aka get on his good side).
